| Esperenza Mar Aparthotel - Cala Bona Operator and Date: Travel Republic - August 2007 Opinion submitted in August 2007 by : Jennings - Essex (40, 32, 6, 1) Resort Rating: Good Accommodation Rating: Good My/Our Holiday Opinion: Just returned from 7 days at this hotel. Rooms, food, pools etc all good. But warning! This is a german hotel, all entertainment is in german, signage in german, kids clubs all in german. Not suitable for english looking for entertainment and joining in with activities. Rooms good size, small kitchen areas which is handy. Food was very good, drinks, snacks, icecreams free all day. Three good size pools with slides (great for kids) it is not on a beach tho! There is access to the sea via steps and pier and a pontoon you can swim out to but no beach. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Floriana Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: Portland Direct July 2007 Opinion submitted in July 2007 by : Stuart, Sandra & Dean (42, 38, 16) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: We've just returned from the Floriana Resort Apartments in Cala Bona and had an absolutely fantastic time. The Apartments were both clean and very spacious. Yes there are more Dutch and Germans frequenting the complex, but to be honest they in no way had a detrimental effect on our stay. In fact the many Dutch families were very friendly and easy to get along with. We never dined at the complex restaurant, however, a family we became very friendly with upgraded to the All Inclusive option (32 Euro a day per adult) and spoke very highly of the food and choice. From our view point the daily snacks that we observed around the pool areas looked extremely good and of a very high quality, for example, doner kebabs, burgers, chips, baguettes, sandwiches and various types of gateaux. Probably the only slight downside was the evening entertainment programme, although not excruciatingly bad it wasn't the best we have ever experienced. We cannot praise the resort of Cala Bona highly enough, a beautiful picturesque harbour, numerous bars and restaurants, to suite everyone's taste's, and a lovely promenade that links Cala Bona with its neighbour Cala Millor. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Floriana Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: Portland Direct - May 2007 Opinion submitted in June 2007 by : Yvonne Russell - (44,61,10,8) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: We went to this hotel the first week of the season. It was fabulous! We were self catering but upgraded to all inclusive when we arrived at a cost of £485 for a week for a family of four. This was good value for money and included bike hire. The apartments are very spacious and spotlessly clean. The maid service is five days per week and they do a very good job. The three swimming pools on the complex were well maintained and the children loved them. The water was absolutely freezing as the pools had only been filled a few days before we arrived but did start to warm up over the week. The pool bar was open from 10am till 6pm and sold drinks and snacks. I would highly recommend the chicken kebabs! The clientele are mostly German with a few British and Dutch people too. This was not a problem to us as we were in a large party, but if we had gone on our own as a family; the children would not have had trouble making many English speaking friends. The food in the restaurant was lovely. There was plenty of choice at every meal time. Breakfast was the usual bacon, sausages, eggs etc, or if you prefer, there was a good selection of cereals, hams and cheeses. Lunch and evening meal were very varied with plenty of choice. There were lots of different types of fish, sea food and meat on offer. The meals were of a very high standard and had something for everyone. You help yourself to draught wine and beer with your meals. We did eat out twice at a lovely Spanish restaurant, called Fonoll Mari, over looking the harbour in Cala Bona. They served brilliant steaks, seafood and paella. A meal for four cost the same as the all inclusive cost for a day but made a nice change so was money well spent. There are plenty of cheaper places to eat around the resort. A lot of the bars in both Cala Bona and Cala Millor are British and we tried to avoid them prefer to go to the Spanish bars and restaurants. We took advantage of the bike hire most days and cycled to the lovely beach at Cala Millor. It was exceptionally clean and very quiet due to the time of year. The staff on the complex were very pleasant and helpful. All in all we had a fantastic holiday and will definitely return to the Floriana. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Floriana Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Portland Direct) Portland direct may 2007 Opinion submitted in May 2007 by : a& m Green 44 & 45 Resort Rating: Average Accommodation Rating: Poor My/Our Holiday Review: when going self catering you may find you only have two electric rings which are very slow followed by a slower kettle. the air con did not work and the paint on the bath was cracked. on a more possitive note the appartment was clean on arrival and spacious. we didnt eat in the hotel but with it being mainly german people there we didnt feel as though we were made very welcome outside the hotel go to snoddys bar and cafe for a great meal food to suit everybody cath and john was always ready to make you a lovely meal and happy to chat with you and all their customers. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Floriana Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: Independent - 2007 Opinion submitted in August 2007 by : G Walker - Essex (42, 38, 15, 7) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Average My/Our Holiday Review: In headline terms Cala Bona was great, the weather was great, but the Floriana was poor and I would recommend you look for another hotel / apartment in Cala Bona. We stayed last year at the nearby Bon Aire (run by the same hotel company) and the Floriana is a very poor substitute in every respect. On the plus side the Floriana is spotlessly clean, with well looked after grounds and our apartment and balcony were much larger than previous places we've stayed in. The rooms also had good air con. On the down side it's a very large sprawling complex which is noisy morning, noon and night. The icing on the cake was the nightly dustcart (complete with "beep, beep, beep" reversing alarm) which noisily collected from under the window of our bedroom at 01:15 in the morning every night of the week apart from Sunday. The various swimming pools on site are also pretty poor. Firstly you will not get a sunbed, as people just leave their towels on them when they go to lunch / back to their room (I know this isn't unique to the Floriana, but it's still annoying). The pools themselves are poorly thought out, the one nearest our block was 6ft deep all the way across, with a smaller pool 5ft deep all the way across and then a toddler pool about a foot deep. None were suitable for my 7 year who is still learning to swim and not that confident if she can't stand up in the pool. People are also inconsiderate in using, and then leaving behind large inflatables. I had read the previous reviews about the mainly German clientele and didn't think it would be a problem as this was also the case at our hotel when we went to Lanzarote earlier in the year. However it is a problem and because 95% of the guests are German absolutely everything is geared around them, including the very noisy entertainment. If you sit on the balcony of an evening for a quiet drink you are bombarded with over enthusiastic quizmasters or entertainers booming out in German followed by that distinctively irritating euro pop music. All in all I felt as though I was visiting a German holiday camp. Apart from being noisy the Floriana is OK, it just shouldn't be in UK brochures and I'm sure the small number of places given to UK guests would be snapped up by German holiday makers. Cala Bona itself is lovely, hence our decision to return from last year. Best places to eat are Smithy's and the Smugglers Inn, both of which overlook the harbour. Nearby Cala Millor has a really good beach and lots of shops. We also got a cab one day to the neighbouring resort of Sa Coma and it only cost 7 euros. Excellent beach there, but not that many shops. I chose the holiday by trawling through various Thomson Holidays

There were fantastics bar and restaurants and were at fantastics prices the best restaurant we ate was the London Inn, they had entertainment but for the older generation the best bar to visit is Sanddancers, they made you real welcome and you would never be bord at any time always a joke to laugh at and you make fantastic friends. If I went away next I would love to return to cala bona but maybe stay in differrent appartments but to anyone who is going to cala bona in the future do visit Sanddancers because they are fantastic people to be around an say Sarah AKA Chicken Tikka sends her love -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Floriana Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: Independently - August 2006 Opinion submitted in September 2006 by : Darren,Shelly and family - Middlesbrough ( 41, 39, 9 ,5 ) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Good My/Our Holiday Review: Just come back from 10 nights at floriana, went 2 years ago and loved it so decided to return. No problems to me and the wife but our kids didnt have a lot of kids to mix and talk with round the pool so ended up being bored a lot, they met loads of friends 2 year ago. We were self catering for the 10 days but you can buy weekly all-inclusive when you get there. It has its advantages as when you get up for your all-inclusive breakfast at 8 o,clockish youve got the choice of the best sunbeds! Cala bona is still nice and Cala Millor good for shopping, beaches are pretty good too. Enjoyed our time there again and would go back to Cala bona but probably not back to the Floriana as its mainly now all-inclusive. We prefer self catering, but were woke up at 8 most mornings by people going for breakfast, the maids are great but thinking we were at breakfast with the all inclusive, used to come in to clean the room as early as 08:45. Anyway, its a nice clean apartment complex and the evening entertainment isnt bad but I believe they have spoiled it a bit changing the format to all-inclusive. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Floriana Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Portland Direct) Portland Direct - Aug 2006 Opinion submitted in September 2006 by : Rick, Jackie, Claire and Michael Wilson - Southampton (43, 41. 14 and 8) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: Excellent apartment - spacious and spotlessly clean with good air con. Only ate at the Floriana restaurant once. Too crowded and noisy and food of a poor standard. I resented being greeted by the bar staff with a "Bitterschoen" rather than an "Hola" Entertainment is frankly rubbish and not worth staying in for - go to Cala Bona and hit the bars. The pools are deep so not ideal for non-swimmers, but my 8 year old (a good swimmer) loved it. Cala Bona beach is far too stony and rocky for our liking - hard work getting in and out. Take the 20 minute stroll along the seafront to Cala Millor which is lovely and sandy - don't bother with the road train which is disappointing. Restaurants in Cala Bona are excellent. Strongly recommend the paella at Fonnol Mari. Xaloc and Paparazzi also stand out. Street entertainment is fun and the karaoke is great in Sanddancers and in Pago Pago Beach. But karaoke buffs be warned that some of the versions of songs at Pago Pago Beach are not quite what you expect to hear. Safari Zoo is a good day out using the free bus. Stay and see the
free magic show - only 20 minutes but spellbinding. Cuevas Del Drach are
well worth seeing - spectacular, but take the local bus and buy tickets
there: works out about 12 Euros compared to the 34 Euros for the Thomson Holidays

The complex is an all inclusive resort that caters for Germans. We were in G block which seemed to be where the few British people were put which was fine as it had its own pool which was never crowded. Did make you feel like a poor relation though. Having said that the apartments were clean and spacious and all the staff were helpful and polite. Didnt eat in the complex so cant comment about that. Cala Bona is a lovely resort. We ate at the London Inn which was excellent (doesnt take credit cards though),Rope and Anchor on the harbour was good value and good food and we also had a great pizza on the harbour cant remember the name but if you follow round to the left and keep going youll find it.Apart from that all the other restaurants were pretty much the same.Did have paella at Xeroc(?)which wasnt very nice- over cooked but that was the only bad meal. Walked into Cala Millor one night but not as nice as Cala Bona although the beach is lovely. Entertainment seems to cater for the older generation as it is all singers a la mode 'Sinatra, Elvis, Tony Chrisitie' etc so not much for our teenagers to do and they were bored in the evenings. Which brings me back to the accomodation - if it didnt cater just for the German clientel we could have watched that in the evening and the kids wouldnt have been so bored. All in all weather lovely, accomodation fine, resort fine but dont stay in the Florianna if you are looking for a complex based holiday. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Portland Direct) Portlands Opinion submitted in October 2006 by : michelle dinnes Essex 73,70,37,9 Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: Just come back from the florianna resort 1 wk ago had a lovely relazing time but it has change there in 1 year. This is our 3rd year in a row here and it had changed for the worst. We found that there wasent any English people there when we arrived, mostly Germans as its all inclusive for them.My daughter whos 9 found no other children to play with apart from the last day she finally found a girl to play with bit late really. We ate in the restaurant every nite as we could not cook in out appt as theres only 2 rings and a microwave,so brought meal tickets every nite. The food wasent as good as previous yrs, catered for the germans now which is a shame as the food was very good in the last couple off nites. But when you got a good nite off food it was good food, and you could eat as much as you like, and come out feely stuffed. The complex is still nice and well kepted all the time. The entertainment was good, but the entertainment staff did speak in german or dutch alot, thought that was un unfair on the english, the shows were still great thou alot off work put in to the shows, costumes and makeup. The receptionists, waiters are still as helpful and great especially joseph and carlos the waiters very friendly and lovely men.I need to mention to watch for pick pocketers, they are about manly at the main bus stop waiting to go to cala millor,sa coma,we saw them with our own eyes so watch them. The weather even in October was fantastic, very hot indeed. We would love to go bck to the florianna resort but i think its time for a change now, great resort but to many germans there didnt really bother us but when your daughter doensnt meet no friends its not fair on her.We did still have a great time thou. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: Independant - July 2006 Opinion submitted in August 2006 by : Kay - Nottingham (51,43,16,12)): Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: Booked flight through Thomson Holidays
Check in was quick, porter took us in golf buggy to our block had requested ground floor apartment but got 2nd floor in block I, moved to a ground floor apartment in block G the next day. Needed more towels & T.V. channels tuned in (plenty of English channels BBC1 & 2 & eurosport) this was done very quickly. Pool smaller than the two main ones but alot less busy, could do with more parasol's seemed to be enough sun beds. Booked half-board but changed to breakfast only as it was very busy in the dinning room and the food was more catered to the German guest's who out numbered the brits. It was impossible to see the entertainment at night unless you got there early, we did see The Lion King, although we could have done with binnoculars, the songs where in English but the words in German, very confusing, also the bars at night were very busy & hot - the lounge bar was shut so they had two wooden shacks which they served from, most of the Germans were AI. Lighting along the pathways not very good. All the day time entertainment was at the main pool so we didnot take part in anything, although my husband did do the archery twice. Ate at snoddys on the sea front - excellent food at a good price. Went to Hotel Levante for the entertainment which was v. good Walked into Cala Millor, paved walkway along the sea front is lovely, plenty of nice shops - great if you love buying shoes. Loved Cala Bona & Millor, first time we have gone abroad in July - very hot & busy, would go back in June but not to the Florianna -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Floriana Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: August 2006 Opinion submitted in August 2006 by : Audrey Ridden Newcastle 39,59,15,9 Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: We have just returned from a fab 2 week holiday in Cala Bona and we all had a great time. The Floriana is set in an excellent location only a five minute walk from restaurants and bars. Rooms were spotless and spacious and the staff were really friendly, especially the pool bar staff. The one downside if you have young children is the pool which is very deep. It has no shallow end and there is only a very small kids pool. For night life you can't go past Sandancers an English Kareoke bar who also do the best pie and peas for miles. We found ourselves going back every night to see Tracey, Faz, Little Faz, George and Smirnoff (the dog). Its a great night for everyone with plenty to do for the kids including a cinema, play station games and a playground. We went to see pirates which is well worth a visit but book it early as it gets very full. Would recommend Cala Bona and definately hope to visit again. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Floriana Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Portland Direct) Portland Direct - July 2006 Opinion submitted in August 2006 by : Anne, Paul, Claire & Vicky - Lincolnshire (45, 36, 16, 14) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: Just returned from a 10 night stay at the Floriana. All things considered, this was a really good holiday. Apartments were a good size, with particularly large balconies, and were cleaned (with towels changed) regularly. Furnishings were quite modern and there was a fair bit of storage space (but not a huge amount of hanging space). Reception staff were particularly pleasant and helpful. We had lunch at the poolside restaurant a couple of days and found the food to be of a good quality. The waiters were friendly, but they regularly got our order slightly wrong - be very clear! We also tried the restaurant on the complex one night, and were not particularly impressed with it. Most of the food was mushy and we had to clear our own plates away between meals. Needless to say, we didn't go back a second time. Having said that, we talked to some people who were all-inclusive and they liked it, so perhaps we caught it on a bad night. This complex is mainly dominated by Brits & Germans, with a sprinkling of other nationalities. It really doesn't bother me who is there, but if you are the sort of person who prefers to be somewhere with mainly British guests, you probably ought to try somewhere else. Also, this wasn't just a complex with young children there - there were a lot of teenagers around during our stay, which was great for our teenage girls. Thomson Holidays
We thought Cala Bona was a really nice place, with plenty of lovely restaurants and bars to choose from. We really liked the harbour area and we ate there virtually every night. Try restaurants Es Mollet & Xaloc for really good meat and fish options. Janet & John's was our favourite place to eat, having a good range of dishes (with a few english options if you really want it). Waiters were really chatty and friendly. The beach at Cala Bona certainly wasn't smelly when we were there. The water was lovely and clear, but there was quite a bit of seaweed in patches. The sand was a little bit gritty, but not bad at all. We tried a few different bars. Went to Sanddancers a couple of times - we found it a fun place the first time we went there, but realised by the second visit that the two guys who run it seem to like the sound of their own voices and repetitive jokes a little bit too much! Don't go here if you like to get up on the karaoke - by the time they've finished their own entertainment in between singers it's the end of the karaoke session and there's a good chance you won't get called up. Try Pago Pago Beach instead (next street down nearer the beach) - much more lively. We also went to Yates, which was OK if you like a good quiz. They had a good range of different types of quizzes to keep guests entertained all evening. Personally, I prefer not to frequent the English bars too much, and we particularly liked the relaxing ambience at the Torre Mar Bar. Finally, we went to the Pirates show. It was pretty expensive, but well worth the money in our view. The food is OK, but it's the show you pay for. Excellent entertainment, and particularly good for kids as well (although also some adult humour which went over the top of the kids heads). In summary: The Floriana is a nice, good quality complex with clean and spacious apartments. Cala Bona is a lovely resort with a good selection of restaurants and bars - not too rowdy but not dull either. Give it a try. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Floriana Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Portland Direct) Portland direct - july 2006 Opinion submitted in August 2006 by : c thornton(39, 40, 16, 10) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Good My/Our Holiday Review: we have just arrived back from cala bona. it is a lovely place although the second time around we found it to be more commercalised than we did two years ago. lots of british bars and restaurants most of which are ok but we found that if you want local spanish cuisine or a better standard of restaurant these are few and far between. stayed at the florriana for the second time the first being two years ago.we chose to go back there because it was a brilliant place for a self catering holiday, lovely pools and ideal for kids.also we chose to go back because there were good facilities for self catering, poolside snacks and drinks which were waiter service and which were available from breakfast through to late evening. this time we were greatly dissapointed as there were no facilities for those of us who were self catering. we found that it had been turned mostly into an all-inclusive holiday complex and the quality of food and drink was poor.we had to go down into town for breakfast or lunch because there was no choise for self catering people.the whole place was geared towards all-inclusive holidays which we perssonally find tacky and thought we were going to a self catering complex with loads of choice. also the all-inclusive deal is not available in the uk, it is only available, so we were told, to thompson clients in Germany-need I say anymore. we would go back to cala bona as it is quite a nice place for a quiet holiday but whoever chose to change the format for the florriana should be shot and we would never go back. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

Apartments very good, clean, everything you needed. Floriana complex, 4 pools (2 large 1 small 1 indoor). Complex well cared for, nice gardens etc. Entertainment good. Booked self catering - half board or all inclusive available on arrival, a/inc at 25 Euro per day. Very German orientated with few British staying whilst there, however, all well behaved other than the usual towels at dawn. Cala Bona and Millor both nice established resorts, although Bona beach small and gravelly. Hotels offer good entertainment,eg, Cala Bona Hotel, Levante. Also Sixties bar and London Inn (quite hot due to location). Meals at Smithys, Melis (super location) and Chiri's also super location next to sea. All offered good service and food at reasonable prices. Overall a good holiday and will probably return in a few years time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: 9 july 2006 Opinion submitted in July 2006 by : alison parkin-newcastle (41) a.berkshire (47) h crichton (16) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: Hi just came back from CalaBona really nice place lots to see and do. We spent 10 nights in the Floriana, in block K, the room was fantastic maid service every day!! and we could get hold of the rep when we wanted who incidentally was called Dave what a great guy he was, couldnt do enough for you. The complex is out of this world with tennis, a gym, Sauna, Volly Ball choice of four pools although in ours the water was absolutely freezing so it wasnt being used as much as it should, also some great bars serving food and then entertainment on top. We prefered to go out though, our favourite spot to eat was the London Inn, run by Dave and Dorothy, we tried lots of other places but this one really gave you quality food and loads of it along with a smile, the entertainment around the resort was a bit naff although we did like a young female artiste called Claudia. Another favoured place with two super owners is the Sanddancers, Faz and Tracey along with helper George(Sharky)give them a go they certainly like to entertain and have Karaoke along with live entertainers, didnt really like the beaches as they are man made and just lacked something so really spent our days around the pool. A Must event is the Pirate show, fun fun fun all night long, a little on the expensive side but certainly worth a go, we paid the extra for to get in fast track but it really wasnt we still had to queue, the champagne wasnt really very good either we gave it away and drank the sangria, the food was excellent, if we were to go again I wouldnt pay the extra which amounted to 32 Euros for the four of us! Downers, I would have liked a rep to travel with us to and from the Airport, on our departure we got on the wrong bus, the driver wasnt bothered and really we werent as we were going to the airport anyway, but whose places did we take and what happened to them??? Yes I would go back, not sure about the girls though as the night life isnt up to their usual standard on holiday but if you want a quiet relaxing holiday without the yob element then give it a go, dont forget Sanddancers and The London Inn, tell them you read about them from us!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Portland Direct) Portland Direct - September 2005 Opinion submitted in Sept 2005 by : Karen Arnold - Cleveland (32,32,3) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: We decided to try these apartments after reading the comments left on this website, and we were not dissapointed. The Floriana apartments are very nice. Clean, comfortable and well maintained, with plenty of activities for anyone who was bored with lying by the pool (which i'm afraid we weren't!!) On previous comments listed people didn't think much of the Thompson Reps and I'm sorry but I don't agree. They were great, especially the kids reps Kim and Nakita. Our son Sean is 3 and full of life and he had a brilliant time at the kids club, didn't want to stay with mam and dad, just wanted to be with the kids reps!! Which was great for us because it meant 2 hours of peace each day. we agree that the pool is very deep (unfortunately my 3 year old went in fully clothed on the first day there, with myself quickly fishing him out)Adults can just to stay stand with their head above water at the shallow end. I have previously been to the Cala Millor - Cala Bona area about 20 years ago and was surprised how much it had changed for the good and the bad. In Cala Millor there is now a pedestrianised street with all the bars and shops on it, which means you don't have to dogde traffic to get about but unfortunately most of the shops sell the usual tat it would have been nice to have a bit more traditional majorcan wares. Speaking of which don't go to the market at Inca unless you want a handbag!! Granted it is the biggest market on the island but it full of crap you would find on any market at home. We went to the Lluc monestry in the mountains and the scenary is breathtaking even though you have your heart in your mouth whilst the coach driver is trying to manourver a coach which seems to be too big to go up the mountain roads. The only other trip we went to was the W estern water park. It is great with loads of slides and shoots, 2 good areas for toddlers (don't bother if you have under 3's) as well as 3 different shows going on at different times throughout the day. For places to eat we tended to stay around Cala Bona. We liked Smithy's, Pizza e Pasta and Janet & John's on the harbour and for Sunday lunch try the Caladonain Carvery!! As much veg, potatoes and Yorkshires as you want. If you like a sandwich for lunch try The sweet shop on the harbour, they are gorgeous. On arrival, ask for a safety deposit box (20 euros plus 5 euros refundable deposit - you type in your own code and don't have to carry a key round with you all the time) and, if you intend using the gym, ask for your room card to be upgraded (no extra charge. Use the golf buggy to get from reception to your accomm and, on the day of departure, ring reception and they'll send it round to collect you and your luggage. The apartments are spacious, very clean with regular towel and bed linen changes. The room card acts as the trigger for both electricity and the air con- very welcome as in late July/early Aug,the temp was about 33 degrees! Can't really comment on either the entertainment or the restaurant as we used neither, although we did catch the end of a couple of the evening shows which looked good. All of the staff in the complex are both friendly and very helpful. Just a couple of minor complaints - no hot water for showers after about 6.30p.m and the kettle takes ages to boil - it's an old fashioned whistling variety (when you want to use the electric rings, you need to switch the timer on first - took us a while to work that one out!). The complex is an easy 5 - 10 minute stroll to the beach and resort centre. Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. We particularly liked the Cafe Torre Mar (bar) and spent a couple of hours there every night after eating elsewhere. Although the drinks are a little more expensive, it was well worth it for the excellent service and location - and it had a couple of pool tables which kept our 16 and 13 year old sons very happy! Restaurants - we tried the El Pescador and Sa Cantalina on the harbour and the Melis, Xaloc and Milano restaurants just round from the harbour on the sea front. We also ate at Donkey's Rest further down the prom. The boys hired motorised scooters on a couple of days - beware of these and the bikes on the prom! We really liked the beach at Cala Bona ad found enough clear water to swim easily. The boys enjoyed snorkelling around the rocky areas. We hired a car for 3 days, via Portland, which seemed to confuse the reps a little when we went to sort it out but you can easily hire directly through reception. Went to the Caves of Drach, Sa Coma (to the Paradis Golf - 3 18-hole crazy golf courses). The beach and sea were lovely but very busy. Also went to Cala Mesquida - lovely beach but sea quite rough - which the boys really enjoyed! We then drove on to Ca'n Picafort to have a look round as we stayed there 9 years ago. All in all, a very good holiday, in very good accommodation in a lovely resort. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Portland Direct) Portlands - June 2005 Opinion submitted in July 2005 by : Michelle Dinnes-Essex(36,8,70,73 Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: Came back from Floriana Resort few wks ago, well wot a wonderful holiday we had, the complex was wonderful, couldnt fault it at all, oh yes apart from the swimming pool, was rather deep in places, no markings on pool to say how deep, not an ideal pool for people or children who cannot swim, so watch that, apart from that it was wonderful, from the food, to the staff to the grounds the complex is in. The entertainment was good, especially the lion king great show. We had a fantastic time. Facitilies at the hotel are very good, children had a great time at the kids club and there was always something to do whether it be for the kids or adults. I didn't use the gym facilies as it was just too hot but my husband said that it was really well equipt and much better than any other he's used in hotels abroad. Staff were very friendly and really obliging we asked to be moved to a ground floor room and although they couldn't immediately change us they did within a day nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately the 1st night we had to call the emergency doctor out at 1am and the reception dealt with it and he was at our room within 10 minitues as the most (Although it cost us 80 Euros!!). A few days into our stay my son cut his foot in the outside shower on a broken tile so I just left a note on portland reception and the next day the manager of the hotel came to see us in our room gave us a free meal in the hotel restaurant and also a large basket of fruit and bottle of champagne!! The rooms were spotless and I can't count the number of towel changes we had! Really spacious too. We would definitely come here again. Only one complaint was the depth of the pools they are very deep and for non-swimmers or not too confident they were 2meters in places. I had to save my 6 year old nephew from drowning which was really scary. We ate out at the harbour a few nights which was ok but after having the free meal at the restaurant the quality and choice was absolutely amazing and from then on we ate every night there. The kids had loads of choice too. The price was 10 euro's per adult and the under 6's are free so we ate fantastically for 20 euros a night. (if you book it there for 7/14 nights you get a 10/15 % reduction. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Portland Direct) Portland Direct - May 2005 Opinion submitted in June 2005 by : Sue from Sawston, Cambridge - 2 adults & 2 children 9 & 5 Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: Just returned from great 2 week holiday at the Floriana Resort. We were very fortunate to have very hot weather the first week and all but the last three days of our second week, it turned quiet cool on a night but we expected it. On arriving we were put in G Block reception staff very helful and friendly. Use the golf cart facilities when you arrive as its quiet a walk. Very happy with our accomadation, it had a well equiped kitchen and our balcony overlooked the pool and being on the top floor we also had a great sea view. The kids loved the pool and kids club, the entertainment was ok but we only went a couple of times as it was geared more to the german guests. The resort is a quiet place a good place to relax, also really pretty, can imagine it livens up in the summer months. Found some fabulous places to eat our favourite was the Xaloc down near the harbour the food was great and the setting perfect. Explored a few places, The Caves of Drach were brilliant, much cheaper to get a bus there and do it yourself. Lovely beach at Cala Millor but even better at Sa Coma. The Safari Park wasn't very good not really worth a visit. All in all a great holiday well worth the money, would go again either to Cala Bona or Sa Coma. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Portland Direct) Portland direct - september 2004 Opinion submitted in Feb 2005 by : Darren,Shelly - middlesbrough ( 39, 38 ) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: Come back from 10 day stay at Floriana and thought it was great. We were in block G, which has it's own pool. For the pool in block G there were always sunbeds available (although we were there in late September - I could see at peak seasons there may well not be enough to go around especially beside the more popular pools). One thing to watch for was that the swimming pools did seem very deep, and the depths weren't marked particularly well so may need to watch any young non-swimmers carefully. The apartments were an easy stroll from the beach/town. The resort of Cala Bona had plenty for families to do, loads of restaurants and bars. We enjoyed Janet&Johns restaurant by Cala Bona harbour the most. Also the Bar Roman (with the parrots!) for cheap cocktails. Only ate at the Florianna resort buffet once, very good food and good choice for a reasonable price - fairly busy though we got there just as it opened and it had soon filled up. We had a couple of problems with our French window door lock breaking, the hotel staff were excellent, very prompt coming to fix it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays
Opinion submitted in Oct 2004 by : Terry, Sue - South Yorkshire (45, 50) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: Just returned from a lovely holiday in Cala Bona. The Floriana complex is pleasant and very well maintained. Our apartment was light, spacious and clean with a large balcony overlooking the pool and the mountains, and at the other side the bedroom had a sea view. The complex is about 300 yards from the front. Good value breakfast at the snack bar. The resort attracts mainly families and couples, which was nice. There are restaurants to suit all tastes in Cala Bona and we had some really nice meals - too many to mention, but the Harlekin for lunch was a favourite, nice staff, good food. The Floriana buffet restaurant at night was also good value at 10 euros for as much as you want. There are plenty of shops and the harbour area is nice. For those wanting a bit of nightlife, walk into Cala Millor where it is quite lively (not on the seafront, but a street or two back. I think the idea is to keep any tackiness off the front). The beaches were better at the Cala Millor end of the promenade, a flat 10-20 minute stroll away. I wouldn't stay in Cala Millor though. We varied our stay with a few days on the beach, a boat trip, and a couple of days when we hired bikes. The bike hire shop we used was the Bon Temps. It had everything, from the four/five person version with the shade on top (very popular with people with kids) to the surprisingly good quality mountain bikes that we used. One day we went up the coast to Costa de los Pinos and inland to Son Servera and another day we went over Punta de n'Amer and down the coast to lovely Porto Cristo, passing through Sa Coma and S'Illot. There weren't too many hills to tackle and much of the route was on the seafront. A very nice way to see the area and good fun. The only complaints I have are with Thomson Holidays
We went to the 'welcome meeting' the next day when we were subjected to an hour of the rep trying to sell us excursions. Not a lot of useful info given on anything else. This put us off buying any excursions, so we didn't. The rep who picked us up for the return journey to the airport wasn't very friendly and didn't say much, apart from to tell us the essentials and to urge us to mark our reps as 'excellent' on our holiday questionnaires. We only booked this holiday three weeks before we went because we
wanted some sun after the rotten summer here, and we're very glad we
did. We'll go back, but will think twice about going with Thomson Holidays

Opinion submitted in Oct 2004 by : Wendy Thompson-Mansfield Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: My children and I have travelled abroad for the first time, this year. We have watched programmes on the TV showing Holidays from Hell, we went expecting the worse, but willing to try. The holiday we got was way beyond what we expected. The Florianna Resort was a last minute deal, so we didn't think it would be anything really special, but we where completely wrong. The apartments are beautiful, well laid out and extremely clean. Towels and bedding are changed regular and staff are very friendly. The resort itself has plenty to occupy families, from shows to aerobics, fantastic, clean pools and advice on places to visit. Having not been abroad before, we went self-catering, so we wouldn't be tied down. We hired a car at very good rates and visited many places, like Aquacity (one of the big water parks) Marineland, the Caves of Drach at Porto Cristo and even travelled up over the mountains for breathtaking views. To be honest, we wished we had booked two weeks, as we didn't spend enough time in the Florianna Resort itself. We had the occassional meal at the resort, the food was excellent and had a good variety to choose from. In fact, we have been spoiled really, because this holiday has set a standard for all future holidays we have. We are fully intending to go back next year, but for two weeks, as we still don't feel like we had seen and done enough. There are many places to go for entertainment, we visited The Tuck In at Cala Millor for a night out and had a fantastic time. We went to Sandowners in Cala Bona, where the owners where really welcoming and friendly. Sunday Lunch at the CHEERS Bar in Cala Millor is lovely, excellent value and not for those on diets, but what the hell whose on a diet on holiday, but be advised you will need 40 winks after. The rating for Florianna is 3T but for the resort, Cala Bona and Cala Millor I rate it alot higher. To anyone looking for a first holiday, this is the place to go as you will not be disappointed. While there I have spoken to many who come back year after year, so that has to be a good sign and being a homebird myself, it is lovely to find somewhere I feel comfortable with. So whoever you are GO FOR IT! you won't be disappointed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

I think Cala Bona and Cala Millor are ok but far too many english bars for goodness sake you are in a foreign country TRY THEIR FOOD!!!! IT WONT KILL YOU we never went to the entertainment as there is enough to do out and about, we hired a car and explored the island, we went to Porto Pollenca which we would try to stay at if we went back its georgeous, Sa coma and Alcudia are a bit too Brits abroad!! the caves are worth a visit but beware of the Germans they are frightened that you will see more than them and push all the way. Any way we never saw a rep at all!!! NOT EVEN ON THE TRANSFER JOURNEY which was at 2.00 in the am and over a hour away, when we got to the resort the golf cart did dropus off but we had to find our own rooms and try to work out the electrics (you put the card in the slot!)we were never told when the welcome meeting was and the next day had a "sorry we missed you " letter we didn't know any thing and never found the board to tell us about entertainment or even when the kids clubs were running. anyway overall we loved the resort but if you book with Thomson Holidays

We could not fault that at all. The apartments were very spacious and the cleaner comes in 5 times a week. Everyone talks English and are friendly. We spent most of our afternoons around the pool by K block which was very popular!! It was very cold as well (which was nice in 30 degrees!) and deep so be warned if you can't swim!! Also I was unfortunate to need to see the doctor (and then the hospital) and he is based in the resort. He is very friendly and speaks good English. He even spotted me later on in the trip and made a point of asking how I was! I wasn't impressed with the resort of Cala Bona mainly because of the beach. It was very small and smelly but the Cala Millor beach about 15/20 mins away was nicer. There are lots of tacky shops to buy presents too. Unfortunately we couldn't go on any of the organised excursions because I was ill but we managed to play the paradise golf in Sa Coma. Its 54 holes of madness set in beautiful surroundings. You don't have to play all 54 holes you pay per 18 holes. Its a good morning or afternoon out for a bit of a laugh! There are lots of restaurants to choose from. We ate in the Royal Crown the most(mainly because it showed every English footie match under the sun!) which is at the bottom of the road leading to Floriana. Bar Argos does great bacon on toast as does Smithy's - these are both by the harbour. We also ate in Yates and Cheers bar in Cala Millor (which does the best Lasagne!!!) Just one thing I really did not like at all about the resort is the amount of dogs walking around without owners!!! They are worse than the pigeons in Central London!! Be warned because they will be there as soon as you start eating waiting for you to drop a bacon rasher or something!! Anyway all in all we got what we wanted - a quiet holiday. Do not to go to Cala Bona if you want a lively holiday!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays
Opinion submitted in Sept 2004 by : Three girls all 24 Resort Rating: Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: Not long back from a week long allocated on arrival with Thompson's in Majorca. First allocated on arrival ever, and not what I expected at all. As we were three girls all aged 24, expected to be put in some dump in Magaluf, but ended up in the family resort of Cala Bona. Arriving at the apartments we were very impressed to be taken from the lovely reception area by golf cart to our apartment, and then escorted in the lift to the door. The apartment itself was immaculate, and had plenty of room for three girlies! Large living/ dining area, large bathroom with bath and shower, and bedroom with two single beds pushed together to make a massive double. Also fairly large balcony. Kitchen also had toaster, sharp knife, and teatowel, which was great. Also FREE airconditioning. Try to get an apartment in one of the 'higher' letters, as these are much quieter as away from entertainment area (however all music etc off by about 11:30pm at the latest). Next morning found ourselves in a lovely large resort, although were quite surprised they put three girls on their own in a resort that seemed to contain nothing but families. Three pools in all, one near block H where we were, another near the main stage and restaurant, and another smaller pool near another block. Would definatly suggest going to pool near stage as was quietest and if with children, was the only one that actually had a proper child's pool. Can most definatly recommend these apartments for these things, and most certainly for the price - even if paying full price, was very cheap for what you got. Food was okay. We only tried breakfast and lunch. Breakfast a lot better than lunch, but seemed to depend who was cooking! But lunch couldn't have been that bad as kept going back! There's a buffet restuarant as well, charging 10E per head, but we never made it, although it looked very popular. Night entertainment wasn't as bad as some reviews here are making out - depends if you can get into the spirit of it! The only REALLY bad night was the starlight express - entertainment employees badly pretending to sing whilst the c.d played in the background. Everything else was okay. Although the Lion King whilst also still just miming was fantastic. However the waiters also provided a certain amount of entertainment - get them chatting - they're not really alllowed to 'fraternise', but they're generally a good laugh. Nightlife - not a lot - this is Cala Bona not Magaluf. Although if you go into Cala Millor just along the road it's a bit better. 6E for a taxi which the reception will call for you, or about a twenty minute walk. Beaches - DO NOT go to Cala Bona beach. Walk a tiny little bit further along the coast and you get to Cala Millor beach which is much much nicer, with clear blue seas. Only about 20 min walk if walking v.slowly to Cala Millor beach, so not that far... and worth it! Places to eat - the Donkey's Rest quite good, whilst Yates a little further along very nice, with a good pint of San Miguel. Majorca airport - quite nice, and well organised. Things to to do - Caves del Drach only a wee bit up the coast - only 1.40E each only bus and about 7E to get in. About 20E for a taxi I think. Not much else unless you want to travel quite far. Sun - enough for me to be brown! Thompsons - NEVER saw a rep once. Realise this was an allocated on arrival, but the rep's weren't even there when they were scheduled to be. Also when we were leaving there were another group of people who were meant to get on the bus about 2 hours before ours came. They phoned and found out that Thompson's had 'forgotton' about them. I'm not a big fan of Thompson's, but they do seem to provide good value for money, so I keep going back. Thompsons very organised at the airport, both in Majorca and Glasgow. Allocated on Arrival - would do this again, but not if I was fussy. Really just wanted a little bit of a wild time, and you just feel bad drinking in front of 3 year olds! Saved about £150 each on the brochere price however. Germans - the resort and apartments seem to cater for more Germans than Brits. Personlly I couldn't care less, but if you woud rather be surrounded by Brits, then this isn't the place for you. Everyone was really friendly. Main problem was that its kind of embarrasing to see sterotypical 'Brits Abroad', when Germans seem to be able to be so well behaved. Enough British people/ English speakers to meet people however. All in all I would say this was a nice place. Cala Bona/ Millor itself isn't up to much - definalty a beach holiday, not a sightseeing trip. But would recommend any family to go here. However if you're a group of girls aged 24.... you're probably going to get a bit bored! Would maybe go again when am 38 with 3 kids - not now! So basically - if you're a family go for it, but if you're not, unless you REALLY like kids.... maybe head somewhere else. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

These apartments are amazing! i would recommend anyone to go and stay there! Right first of all when you get dropped of at reception (all of the staff speak in english!) get the card for your room and i would get a safe (5euros) while you are there! I would also advise that you wait for the man in the golf buggey as he will take you straight to your room so that you don't have to walk. When you get into your room you must put the card into the slot in the wall which will allow the electricity to come on. If you ordered the food essential pack from portland then it will all be in the fridge. when you turn on the aircon (which is very cool) the heat will quickly go away. The TV has only got certain english channels. These are BBC World, Eurosport, and Sky Sports 1. You can also get BBC1 at certain times of the day. The maid service is very good, the maid comes 5 times a week and they change the bed linning on a saturday. there is everything in the room that you will need for a self catering break! When you finally get round to going into the swimming pool you will find that the one with the bridge going over it has 1 side that is shallow and 1 side which is very deep. (1.85m) The poolside bar serves some very good food for during the day at very good prices. There are toilets right next to the pool. If you put a towel on the sunbed before 9:00 they are removed and taken to reception. The grounds around the pool and the whole complex is kept very neat and tidy! I had a quick look at the indoor pool and there didn't seem to be much to it! There is also a gym and a sauna on site. To get into this building you need to go to reception and ask for your card to be updated so that you can get in! Next to the gym building there is a big childrens playground that has a big spacenet in it. This is locked at 18:00 then you need your card to get in. There are also 4 tennis courts on site that you and use at a cost of 12 euros an hour. There are 2 kids clubs on site. They go out on adventures what little kids seem to enjoy! the evenning entertainment isn't very good but you must see the interpretation of the lion king. As with most Brits, we stayed in Block G (blocks range from A to L) which is away from the main part of the complex and backs onto farmland. The apartments are well furnished and kept very clean. The swimming pools and gardens are also very well looked after. There are 3 main pools at the Floriana and having attempted to get a good position near the largest pool I can confirm that the Hotel staff DO remove towels if sunbeds are not used. Apparently they remove towels if sunbeds are not occupied before 9am - by 9.30 ours had been removed! Although the Floriana is large, it never feels too busy. Block G is very quiet apart from the local Cockrel crowing in the morning and the noisy Coke machines on the ground floor. There is a restaurant situated in the main building which offers a huge variety of food for all palates. its good value too at 10 Euros for adults and 5 Euros for children over 6 years old. under 6's eat free. It can be a bit of a bun fight though, especially at opening time. The hotel puts on its own entertainment at night, performed by a multi-national team. Some of it is frankly rubbish but their interpretation of the Lion King was absolutely brilliant. Sometimes guest entertainers perform too such as the Kool and the Gang tribute band. Cala Bona itself is a quiet resort and anyone after wild nightlife will be disappointed. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and shops to suit all tastes and the larger resort of Cala Millor is only a easy 15 minute walk along the promenade. As mentioned in a previous report do not think the promenade is pedestrian only as electric scooters can be hired from several local shops to be ridden at a high speed along the prom! If you are eating out try Smithys (great sausages according to my 8 year old) Es Mollet (local fish and meat dishes) Chiri's (good pizza and pasta) or Donkay's Rest in between Cala Bona and Cala Millor. To sum up the Floriana Apartments are excellent and are great for a relaxing break in a pleasant and not overly commericalised resort. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Portland Direct) Portland Direct - July 2004 Opinion submitted in Aug 2004 by : Newman Family - Linlithgow (49,48,16,14) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: We have just reurned from a fabulous 2 week holiday in Majorca staying at the Florianna Apartments in Cala Bona. These apartments are part of the renowned Protur chain of hotels and apartments and are located in a nice, qiuet, residential part of Cala Bona yet are only a five minute stroll from the promenade. We had a 1 bedroom apartment in block J (room 2373) and our room overlooked the swimming pool .... we were delighted with its location. You sometimes know when you walk into a clean, modern reception area and a few minutes later walk into your apartment that everything's going to be okay. This is exactly the feeling that we got and so it proved to be. We couldn't fault the apartment and the air conditioning was very welcome. Perhaps the quality of the cleaning could have been a little better, but I guess I'm starting to nit pick now. On the thorny subject of sun beds we never had a problem getting them and an umbrella, although I did notice that during our first week (second week in July) that at 8am in the morning there were only a handful of towels on the sunbeds, but during our second week it was much busier and a lot of the "prime" locations were saved by 8am ! There was an entertainment team linked to these apartments and they tried their best to get you invlolved .... as ever it's your choice. There was also entertainment every evening with a mix of professional shows and the entertainment team. On the whole the quality of these shows was good as shown by the numbers of people who watched them. On the food side at the apartments there was a very good pool bar / restaurant serving reasonably priced snacks and food although the ice creams were expensive. You will definately not starve in Cala Bona / Cala Millor where there are many restaurants to chose from. The marina area in Cala Bona is very busy in the evening and we tended to not eat here .... the food was also a little more expensive and tax was not included in the proce. We did find many good bars and restaurants along the promenade (e.g. Carlos Restaurant, the Roman Inn pub or the "parrot" pub as we called it - go here and you'll see why). However the best restaurant we found was one road back from the promenade. It was called "Maria Noelia" and was just down the road from the Alecia Hotel in Cala Bona and opposite "Toms Bar". The quality, service and price could not be faulted .... give it a try. All in all a great holiday and great apartments. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Portland Direct) Portland Direct - July 2004 Opinion submitted in July 2004 by : Ellie Harrison - Loughborough (39, 31, 5, 4) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: Just returned from a Fab holiday at these appartments. Stayed in block G - not that far from main reception if you're fit and healthy so didnt bother waiting for the buggy to take us there was about 6 families waiting for it. Our kids had no problem walking everywhere as we didnt take a pushchair for the first time. I was a bit worried about distance to the beach etc after reading some reviews but it wasn't far even for a 4yr olds legs. Thanks to previous writer who gave the tip about getting the safe key when you check in. It saved us a good half hour! The rooms were brilliant. Really clean and by far the most spacious i've ever stayed in. kitchen was small & basic but who needs it? Complex was clean and staff really friendly. Food in the buffet restaurant on site was excellent at 10e per adult & under 6's free. Only one complaint of the holiday was the sunbed situation. we went to the pool on the first day at about 9.15 and there wasn't a sunbed to be had. Most were bagged with towels but not used until the afternoon. we did highlight this to the resort staff when we left as they say they remove towels but clearly they dont. We found Majorca really cheap for food and drinks and plenty of decent supermarkets nearby. Kids entertainment was good but we found the mini disco at 8.30-9.30 was a little late for young children who had been swimming & walking all day. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Portland Direct) Portland Direct - July 2004 Opinion submitted in July 2004 by : Andy Kirk - Leicester (46, 39, 9,7) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: Cala Bona is a really good place for families and those of us who do not want an entirely purpose buult 'Brits Abroad' environment. It has some character although everything you need for a holiday with kids is there, e.g. pavements, street lights, medical care, entertainment etc. All the restarauts serve childrens menu's even the top drawer establishments. We found the locally run establishments much better than the British run places. (Why do people want Pukka Pie and Chips, or a Chicken Tikka in Spain?) The fish is good and fresh. Try Melis (on the bit arounf the corner from the Harbour) for a bit of Brit/Espana, or next door at Xaloc for something more local. Es Mollet is excellent for fish and Paella, and try the the local Vino de la Casa, its cheap and good enough. Disapponted in Cala Millor, could not tell if I was in Sa Coma, Cala D'or, or C'an Picafort - they are all the same, great beaches but no room to do anything on them in July. Grid style roads with nithing but English Pubs(Sky TV) and tatty shops.Cala Bona Beach is small and need cleaning regularly (it is in high season) and the shorline is rocky. But the water is clear and clean and my kids loved it. One word of warning, the pedestrianised waterfront is not soley for pedestrians, bikes, motoriased-scooters, and delivery vans all use it all day so don't assume its completely safe. Florianna Resort was terrific, modern, clean and efficient. Apartment in Block G (along with most other Brits!) was large and air conditioned. No bar, but the pool is close enough to your fridge not to matter. We ate in the Florianna restaraunt once and the food was fine and reasonably priced, but its a bit of a bun fight with people clammering for the best seats and a wait for drinks etc., However,it is good value and handy. We preferred to eat out and we ate well for 30-40 euros for 4 including wine and drinks. Staff at the Florianna were top class, nothing was too much trouble and they were friendly and helpful. The only thing that let it down slightly is the walk to the beach, its 10-15 mins and OK in the cool of the morning and down hill. Returning in the heat of the day - slighty up hill- and carrying lilos towels, brollies, water, kids, etc. It was a bit harder! Spent a lot of time around the pool in block G, other pools seem bigger but attract larger crowds, and the main pool is the centre of activity for the Entertainment Stormtroopers who try very hard but still sound like Herr Flick in 'allo, 'allo! Try the boat trip to Cala Ratjada, about an hour and not cheap (E52 for 4) but its a great escape and Cala Ratjada is really nice - a bit up market with great cafe's and restaraunts. It can be a bit like Berlin upon Sea, but is means everything is good quality. To summerise, ideal for families with pre-teemage kids who like a bit of local flavour to go with their chips. Excellent value for money and first class accommodation where you actually need a blanket to sleep at nights with the aircon blasting out! Recommended. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Portland Direct) Portland - June 2004 Opinion submitted in June 2004 by : gina cox - birmingham (40) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Opinion: Very nice accommodation, refurbished to a high standard (G Block). When we arrived at the apartments we was told that we could go half-board, i would really recommend it, I thought it was cheap and the food lovely, a good variety of choice. I will advise if you want to use the safety deposit box straight away, ask reception once you arrive (there might be a long walk once you get to your apartment) you do have to pay for it, but good investment. The actual apartments are really nice and clean. As for the resort, prior to going I had read that a lot of people saying that the beach smelled. They have made a good effort at cleaning this up, we had no problems. We didn't have to worry about going to eat out as we were half board, but there is a lot of nice little cafes along the promenade which we tried, too many to name. As for evening entertainment the hotel do the entertainment, which stops at 12 approx. Starts with children disco, then goes into adult music after an hour. Childrens entertainment is always on with kids clubs and playground. Finally I really recommend you go to see Pirates in Magaluf, they love children!! and a excellent night out. They have huge balconies and you can choose which pool you want to swim i think there was 3. We walked down to town every night and had a drink down there as there are loads of bars to choose from ,a ten minute walk takes you in to cala millor which has a fantastic shopping area and lots of watering holes. The beach is calabona is not clean in fact we saw things floating that you would expect to see on Blackpool beach if you know what i mean . The apartments were really clean and so were the rooms. The apartments had one bedroom and a living room with two sofas that turned into a bed. Also there was a bathroom as well. In the cupboard there was a safe and you could put your own code number in. The balcony was massive and had loads of space to move around. There is a lot of entertainment on during the day and have sporting activities such as volleyball, tennis, table tennis, football, archery etc. If you have children they have lots of activities in the mini club. Also on a night time they have a mini disco at 8:30pm. The hotel also puts on shows that last a couple of hours. Cala Bona was a very nice place and went straight in to Cala Millor. As you walk into Cala Millor you will find that there is a street behind the main promenade. This contains mostly bars, shops and snack bars. In Cala Bona there are a lot of restaurants down by the harbour. One of these restaurants is called Chiri's. The meals are lovely there and we would recommend you to go there. Down by the harbour on some nights there will be entertainment on. When we were down by the harbour one night they were painting pictures with spray paint. One great day out is at the Paradise golf down in Sa Coma. It is a fun day out and you could get there by travelling in a taxi, it should cost approximately 7 euros. When you go in to play golf, you can either play on one course or three courses. On the one course adults cost 5 euros and children cost 3 euros. On the 3 courses adults cost 8 euros and children cost 5 euros. You can swim in the Paradise hotel if you take your swimming gear with you. We think the best beach is the beach in Sa coma which is just really soft sand and has sapphire blue sea and is very clean. If you want a beach closer to the hotel we recommend you going to Cala Millor beach which is really clean. The beach in Cala Bona is Ok but it is a bit smelly and the sand isn't as soft as any of the other beaches there is a lot of seaweed as well. You will also find that at the beaches there have loads of snack bars and supermarkets. Overall we think this holiday is an excellent holiday and would like to go again some time. Also the people in Majorca are really friendly. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florianna Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Portland Direct) Portland Direct - May 2004 Opinion submitted in June 2004 by : Mobbs family (34,32,7,6 Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: Just returned from another lovely holiday with the family in Cala Bona. Also you could try The London Inn, huge menu to choose from, very reasonable prices and nice meals. You can find this pub on the bus road, harbour end. Floriana apartments have 3 very good pools all differnt depths. Theres entertainment around the pool side alday and the entertainers are very good also there is a good childrens disco in the evening. Cala Bona has lots of little shops and restaurants along the sea front which is partly pedestrianised. You can walk to Cala Millor which has more shops and a better beach. Check out the bus timetables. Buses are very cheap and handy for a day out. We only went on 2 day trips with Thomson Holidays

Penny and Sandra did put a lot of effort into the kiddies disco and other shows but it was nothing worth staying for! There's a great bar in cala bona (about a 10 minute walk) called the sixties, defintley worth your while going there as they have different entertainment every night and show all the football on a widescreen tv. the kiddies club is great as they take the children for 5 hours every day(Except sat and sun). We only went to the beach once as the pool was perfect to lie out at. there's great gift shops, clothes and shoe shops etc. and a great place where you can rent out mini scooters, Bikes etc. Cala bona has everything you need. Situated in a quiet area about 10 mins walk from the charming harbour of Cala Bona. From the harbour it was a further 10 mins approx to the lovely sandy beach and promenade of Cala Millor but the road is a busy touristy one full of souvenier shops. Only a small beach at Cala Bona itself, not very pretty, but quiet and quaint. The Noddy/tourist train which runs from just outside the apartments was fun for the kids and a great way to avoid the long walk to Cala Millor. At the Isabel the apartments were roomy enough and well maintained: Our request for the shower to be fixed was attended to immediately and the maid service was excellent: towels daily and cleaning daily if required. Rooms are airconditioned at no extra charge which is a great plus in the high season. The pool area was pretty enough, but the pool was a little small for the number of clients staying at the complex and the water became cloudier as the day went on. Also, sunbeds were at a bit of a premium: the smart clients set their alarms for early morning in order to secure a good spot at the pool. Meals were available: fairly standard fare but fine if you were hungry or too lazy to walk to Cala Bona. A buffet was organised twice weekly: all you can eat for a tenner. I found the food fine and it was great value. Try it yourself and see what you think. There is also a weekly barbeque which seemed to have its fans. The bar staff were friendly, but be aware that they stop serving at 12.30am regardless: I tried begging for another drink but they just wouldnt be moved. A rule is a Rule!!! My 14 yr old pronounced this her best holiday ever, largely due to the fact that there were plenty of other teens at the complex. Younger families seemed happy with the complex too. The supermarket at the site is overpriced and understocked. Theres a far better supermarket just across the road in another Apartment complex. The entertainment team ( a couple of swedish/danish girls) worked long hours on a low budget, a bit naff but nobody complained..why cant the Ola group hire professional entertainers at least a couple of nights a week...The parrot show and the Grease extravaganza were just too painful to watch while sober. Nightlife in Cala Bona seemed low key, though the harbour was thronged with people in the evenings many of the pubs were empty (including the London Inn which had entertainment nightly)..however the Hotel Cala Bona put on excellent shows and is worth a stop after your meal. For great resteraunts with lovely sea views I suggest following the harbour around to the end then turning right, theres a great selection of eateries and the quality of food is generally very good. The Italian place has a wonderful international menu and the service at Janet and Johns is friendly and warm. For big portions of home cooking be sure to try the London Inn (a bit of a walk: on the main road to Cala Milor..but the Noddy trains stops close by)..Shane Ritchie from Eastenders drops in regularly. Take the glass bottom boat to some of the other beaches: Follow the Costa Los Pins road to the very end (past expensive villas) and you will reach a viewing point from where you can see the whole of cala millor and cala bona in the distance. Caves of Drach can also be reached using the glass bottom boat and are well worth a visit. It was well worth spending extra time queing for a short boat trip across the lake. If hiring a car...dont forget to visit the remains of the medieval fort at Caldepera (forgive my spelling...my guidebook is back in the library)..not crowded, great views, beautiful little church (you can even ring the church bells) then go back down the hill and turn left which should bring you to a picturesque square with some wonderful and inexpensive cafes. Would I return to Isabel?? Well, no, Id have preferred to be closer to the beach at Cala Millor..but I still had a wonderful time..and by the way: HI JOHN AND THERESE AND SUZY AND JIM...AND ALL THE KIDS. And hi to the night porter Pepe who always had a minute to help and a smile for the kids... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Levante - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

'Allocated on arrival basis' Thomson Holidays
The outward flight with Thomas Cook was extremely cramped with very little leg room. I had a doctor's note, having a serious back condition and they did accommodate me on the aisle row 1, so I could move about and stretch my legs. My husband was only able to sit behind and his legs touched my seat, and he is not a tall man. We had a car booked with Avis, and their hire rates have much improved now to match online local companies. However, they did try to sell us a higher insurance to cover the excess charge which equalled the cost of the original car hire. Needless to say we declined. The hotel was in a lovely position on the beach and we were first given a room overlooking the side road and shops, with a very noisy bar, going on well after midnight. We were moved the next day after complaining only to be given a room over the service entrance, so had to put up with all the delivery noise in the morning from 7.00 am. However it did have a sea view and we were not charged any extra for this. The room is quite small, if I sat at the dressing table my husband had to walk across the bed to cross the room. The public rooms were excellent, as was the quality of the food, although the breakfasts did become a little boring. We had one gala night and that was spectacular. The Thomson Holidays
The other entertainment was fabulous, especially the comedian,(whose name I cannot remember) but he did a lot of impressions, including trains sounds etc We spent all evening almost in tears. The Bee Gees tribute and Rod Stewart tribute I would also highly recommend. The walk along the promenade down to Cala Milor is to be highly recommended, and if you have a car drive further down the coast, we went down to Es Figuera which is a very quaint fishing port, with the most fantastic turquoise water. Our return flight was on Thomson Holidays
All in all a very good holiday, although I would rate the hotel as good quality 3*, but not 4*. All in all we would go back. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Levante - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

(been in 5 Gold hotels so far and never had this!) A notice was put up in the lift to ask politely "no reserving beds before 8am"... think they all must have set their alarms for 5am that day! Recommend go on the beach which is right on the doorstep of hotel..get the best of both. Entertainment is good, again only question ...why can't they go on till midnight.. There is plenty of bars and clubs with excellent entertainment... that does go on after the "pensioner hour!" Would also recommend a fantastic place called "The Sweet Shop" on way to the Harbour..really cheap ..and do fantastic sandwich's and baguettes..also will make up a salad box..whatever your choice! All in all a good time was had...but be warned...never expect a sunbed! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Levante - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

The ticket pickup at the airport was trouble free as was the check in the only problem being so late booking the holiday the only seats left on the plane were the extra legroom seats but you have to make sacrifices!!! On arrival at Palma airpot and after the VERY long walk to baggage
reclaim we were directed to the Thomson Holidays
This Hotel is a Thomson Holidays
The food is of a very high standard breakfast is the same every day and caters for the British guests but we would have like more fresh and less tinned fruit. Dinner time is acceptable but the Gala dinners are not to be missed you get two Gala dinners a week. The drinks are reasonably priced the wine starts at 8 Euros and is pleasant to drink the water is 2 Euros a bottle you pay for this on exiting the dining room so have the cash ready if you don't want it charging to your room. The evening entertainment starts at 8pm and goes on till midnight and
the acts are a mixture of Spanish artists and English acts flown in also
the Thomson Holidays
The only down side to this hotel is actually nothing to do with the hotel, it's the guests, Starting from first light the sun bed towel hangers start so by the time you have had breakfast all the sun beds have been reserved even the beach parasols get reserved we even saw some guests throwing other peoples towels away to replace then with their own, we think its disgusting selfish and it is the English who seem to be the worst culprits. The other thing we have witnessed was the reserving of a dinner table, this is how it worked some selfish holidaymaker goes down to dinner when the restaurant opens then chooses a table usually by the window, buys a bottle of water leaves the receipt on the table then they disappear until later, we saw a table tied up in this way for over an hour at a busy time we think this is unacceptable and if you see it please report it to the head waiter. There is a Gym, Jacuzzi, Turkish steam room and a Sauna these are on the third floor adjacent to the sundeck which has about thirty sun beds and automatic sun shades which seem to deploy randomly throughout the day. The ground floor has a swimming pool and quite a few sun beds adjacent to this is a snack bar. All in all a great Hotel with a majority of older guests but this is no problem as it means the hotel is nice and peaceful. The location is o/k with plenty of shops bars and restaurants in easy walking distance. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Levante - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

Food is very good, facilities excellent, no real hogging of the sunbeds due i suppose to the weather not being good. Check in swiftest ever, room very good with several english tv channels, cleanliness of the hotel outstanding. Mostly older people in the hotel we felt like youngsters next to most of them. Cala Bona & the nearby Cala Millor are ok full of english bars and cafes you CAN get reasonable food and drink in them also the promenade is good for strolls most of the shops were the usual tacky seaside fare. The trip back with Thomson Holidays
Also the flight crew spent two hours sell, sell, sell. With twenty
minutes to go I asked where's my dinner, to which they replied "we've
run out of hot dinners because other passengers have claimed dinners
when they haven't paid for them!" So when were they going to tell me of
this , i had to ask. I had a tray slapped in front of me with a chicken
sandwich on it. Not what I had wanted or paid for. I then asked for a
refund quite politely and a male attendant started raising his voice to
me and then telling me to calm down. This must be latest ploy on
airlines that if you complain you are told to calm down with the implied
threat of arrest at arrival. I had not shouted or raised my voice just
simply queried their obsession with selling rather than service to the
passengers and when they could not provide what they had paid for would
not give a refund on the pretext of "its not company policy, you will
have to write in or go to your travel agent" More hassle and time to the
customer who unless they are spending more and more money with Thomson Holidays
This spoilt what had otherwise been quite a pleasurable experience, finally we can wholeheartedly recommend the Hotel Levante and would go back again. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Levante - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays
Opinion submitted in Jan 2006 by : Susan Greenwood - Lancashire (56) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: I have been to this resort many times before and also to this hotel. As far as I'm concerned you can do no wrong by booking the Levante hotel. People complain about the lack of sunbeds around the pool - there's always the sun deck with jacuzzis nearby up on the roof with some lovely views. I didn't sit round the pool once as there are so many other things to do in the hotel and the surrounding area. Rooms are of an ample size and let's face it - who goes on holiday to stay in their rooms? I only use mine as a base to go to sleep at night. The entertainment (as always) was first class and anyone who knows her will know how hard Caroline the entertainer works to make sure that you have a fantastic time and she was working all on her own with no help from anyone else - give that girl a pay rise!!!! There are organised daily activities with a wide choice of things to take part in - no pressure if you don't and in the evenings there is also lots to do in the bar. There may be a quiz or a live band or even a show. What more could you ask for? The staff at the hotel are a credit to the place. Everyone is very helpful and friendly, especially the bar staff (there are some real characters there). A lot of the staff have worked at this hotel since forever so that to me speaks for itself. Food in the restaurant was delicious with plenty of choice. Vegetarians and meat lovers alike. The food is always plentiful and well presented. The gorgeous salad bar always looked very inviting and lovely smells coming from the show cooking on the grill. Not forgetting twice a week when the stops are really pulled out for the gala dinner. After having read some other comments about this hotel from holiday makers I really have to disagree with them. I, myself have worked in the tourism industry and know how hard the staff work to try and keep everybody happy and believe me that is no easy task. Anyway, if you're thinking about booking the Levante hotel then do not hesitate. You will be assured a warm, friendly welcome from all the staff and lovely weather as well. Enjoy this beautiful hotel and all that it has to offer. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Levante - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

I was in a single room in the Hotel Levante and they were in the smaller sister hotel opposite, the Levante Park. The facilities in the Hotel Levante are far superior with a large bar terrace with evening entertainment and a larger and more attractive restaurant area. Space around the pool however was very limited and even on my own I found it impossible to get a sunbed. The Levante Park was not so busy and you could get a sunbed but the pool was smaller. The resort is not wonderful, but good for walks up and down the promenade after pigging out on the all you can eat buffet! The food at the Hotel Levante and Levante Park was very good, breakfast was particularly good. I think I was one of the youngest guests at 26 as the Gold hotels tend to be filled with older couples who all seemed to enjoy their stay. My parents were not as impressed with the Levante Park as with

and T.V. in room (T.V. with BBC1, ITV, Sky News and Sports). Not enough
sunbeds as the Hotel Levante Park and La Luna share the facilities. As
this was a Thomson Holidays
Entertainment was the usual standard for hotels, Elvis, Drifters,
Tina Turner etc. and is very busy as the other hotels use this facility.
The inside bar area has a large screen which shows the entertainment if
you cannot secure a seat outside. We prefered to visit the local bars at
Cala Bona as the entertainment was of a better quality. Overall an
enjoyable holiday, except the sunbed problem, hotel staff and waiters
very pleasant. Thomson Holidays

The bedrooms were a little on the small side, the one we had with a sea view was situated on the sixth floor we had requested a quiet room). As it was on a corner-end this resulted in our bathroom being particularly small compared to some of the others. Cala Bona itself was lovelly plenty of flat promenades to walk and within easy reach of Cala Millor if you wanted a more lively night. Local buses were plentiful to take you around the countryside. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant along with the reps who were usually in attendance to help. Opinion submitted in July 2005 by : Age 46 & 56 Resort Rating: Average Accommodation Rating: Average My/Our Holiday Review: Hotel is a bit dated. Unfortunately when we went it was the time of year when the 'older' generation go (average age appeared to be 65-75). Because of the majority of guests being elderly, the entertainment was naturally aimed at them, walking sticks and gadabouts (electric chairs) everywhere, I was actually quite worried in case I knocked into anyone. The good thing about the guests being elderly is that its very quiet around the pool area and at bed time. Although myself and my husband are not exactly young, we do like modern music and entertainment. Although my husband thought the food ok, being vegetarian I found it appalling, their idea of a vegetarian dish was boiled cauliflower mixed with boiled green beens (with no type of seasoning), on another occasion I opted for pasta (big mistake) it had obviously been kept hot for ages and had gone rock hard and chewy,I definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel to other vegetarians (or young people). The pool area was pleasant, but it's the usual story - not enough sunbeds, they were reserved from early morning 'til late afternoon (the owners of the towels sometimes only appeared in the late afternoon to collect their towels) as usual the reps did nothing about this. The area is quite pleasant with quite a few bars with live music. The location of the hotel is excellent, the large terrace leads onto the beach which has sun beds and umbrellas which can be hired at a quite reasonable price. The staff seemed quite moody, but we soon realised that if you smile first they they respond positively. On a scale of ten I would probably give the hotel 6/10. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Levante - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

Opinion submitted in Jan 2005 by : Corinne Redwood & Chris Leighton (28, 29) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: Levante Hotel, Cala Bona, Majorca, November 2004 We spent a long weekend at the Levante in November 2004. We were looking for a relaxing weekend in a good quality hotel some where in the Mediterranean and so decided that the Levante would fit the bill. We travelled with Thomson Holidays
On arrival we were quickly ushered on to our coach (which was practically empty) and arrived at Cala Bona in just over an hour. Luckily for us, the Levante was the first drop off on the route (and also the last pick up on the way home). The check in was very speedy, although we did have to leave our passports at reception so that they could take some details off them. Our room was on the 4th floor, facing the street. The room itself was spacious and well decorated, as was the bathroom and had a small balcony with chairs and a table. We were very pleased to find that the room had an empty fridge for us to use, plus a free bottle of mineral water had been provided. There was a TV with a number of UK channels, including BBC and ITV1 and a safety deposit box in the wardrobe. The only small criticism that I had was that the only accessible power point was by the bed, which was on the opposite side of the room from the dressing table, so it made drying my hair in front of the mirror rather difficult. Despite in being November, the weather was actually warm enough for
us to wear shorts and a T-shirt for 2 of the 3 days that we were there.
The outdoor swimming pool, however, was absolutely freezing, so we
decided not to use it, although some of the other guests did. Instead,
we used the indoor pool & sauna at the Levante Park (accessible with
your room card) and the jacuzzi, sauna & steam room in the Levante – but
the water was also quite cold. The Levante is a ‘Thomson Holidays
We stayed on a half board basis and so had our meals in the main buffet restaurant. The food was very good, but I felt that the choice at the evening meal was not as good as we have had at some similar hotels (my boyfriend, on the other hand, had no complaints!). Drinks are ordered via the drinks waiters and then paid for at the cash till by the door. We had lunch in the snack bar near the pool one day, and the food was good and not too expensive. Our main reason for going to the Levante was to relax, so we weren’t bothered that a lot of the shops etc were closed for the winter. There were still more than enough places open for food etc, plus we were able to hire bikes from the hire shop near the Levante on one day (we cycled up to the fort at Punta de n’Amer). There were also regular coaches to destinations around the island (you can get timetables from the rep). Cala Bona and Cala Millor are joined by a long promenade, which we walked along a couple of times. There would certainly have been enough for us to do there is we had wanted a more active holiday. Overall, we were really pleased with the Levante and wouldn’t hesitate to go there again. If you want a wild, exciting holiday then it’s not the place to be, but for a relaxing few days it was great. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Levante - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

Opinion submitted in Sept 2004 by : Tony & Davina - Droitwich (47, 43) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Opinion: Hotel Levante - Absolutely excellent. We've previously been to a number of Thompson Gold hotels and thought that Los Gigantes and Yaramar would be hard acts to follow - we were wrong. The excellent standards set at this hotel together with the fantastic location has put the Levante at number 1 for us. We'd heard that a problem with the hotel was lack of sunbeds and to be honest we were a bit apprehensive. We needn't have worried, yes the pool area is a bit on the small side - but we had no problems. You do get a lot of the 'prime sites' taken by the mad fools getting up at some unearthly hour, but we popped down just before taking breakfast, 8.30 ish and always found sunbeds. Rooms are a little on the small side - but perfectly adequate. Food absolutely top class. Some great entertainment, Beatles and Elvis tribute bands and a comedian called Dave Betton. Also must give a mention to the 'house' trio - 'Inspiration'. Great music and very witty. Thanks CJ and guys. Can't say the same I'm afraid for the other 'house' duo - Flying hi. Some of the entertainment laid on wasn't to our personal taste - but we really must give a huge recommendation for a bar just around the corner - 'Sanddancers'. You must visit this - run by a family of mad geordies from South Shields, they really know how to give a fantastic friendly welcome and will enertain you all evening. In addition if the 'Wild Boyz' are in residence then you really are in for a treat!! Very clean and the staff were excellent. Food and choice was excellent although the soups were very average with a vegetable seeming to be on every night ( whats wrong with a good simple tomato ) The entertainment was much varied but spanish tribute bands dont seem to click somehow. Saying that, 3 girls who did a Cristina Aguilera tribute were brilliant especially the lead singer...what a voice she had. We found a bar at the back of the Levante Park called Sanddancers, what a fantastic night it it was to with Faz and Tracy, the hosts, always ready to give a warm welcome to all. The Wild Boyz who came on every night at 10pm were brilliant, really mad and great singers to so check it out. If you are a beach person, its well worth hiring a car and visiting Es Trenc which is in the far south west corner. The sea is so turquoise and clear. You can even go naked as many do here and we joined them. The beach bars here serve great food to and well worth calling in after the heat of the beach. Secondly, the main reason we booked a gold was because there will not be any children at the hotel. However, the Levante allowed children in the evening!! Furthermore, they allowed anyone from outside to come in and although the children were quite well behaved, we had left our children at home and did not want to be bothered with babies and children which is why we chose a gold hotel. was more appreciated by having no kids running around all the time. The
Thomson Holidays
The restaurant was well run and being on the first floor gave good sea views. The food was always very good with plenty of choice. All the staff at the hotel were very efficient and friendly. The resort of Cala Bona is a quieter place than some but has plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. It is only a short and easy walk into the larger neighbouring resort of Cala Millor. We visited "Cafe La Musica" which is situated behind the Hotel Consul in the harbour area of Cala Bona. Every night at about 10 o clock the owner sings a selection of songs made famous by such as Mario Lanza and the three tenors. Well worth a visit but get there early because it fills up quick. If planning to visit the Caves of Drach, the local bus leaves from
just behind the hotel Levante Park and only costs 2.80 euros return and
the price into the caves was only 8.50 euros. This is quite a lot
cheaper than the 30 euros charged by the Thomson Holidays

The hotel although clean seems to be very dated and is in need of modernisation,on the last visit it was a warmer summer month and the outdoor pool could be used however although warm and sunny during our stay the unheated pool was freezing and nobody would use it, this seems a bit pointless and we are talking about a 4 star Gold hotel here! The food was NOT 4 star to say the least it was generally over cooked and tasteless the vegetables at dinner would not be served for school dinners in the UK who says so, well not just my wife and I but my daughter and partner who came with us for a first visit to Mallorca, they went into the resort to buy evening meals after the first night.I suppose you get what you want from the hotplate to eat but the couple sat next to us on night 2 both started with a bowl of soup and 5 slices of bread and butter, each to is own !! Enough of the food, we went to the excellent little sauna as we had done before however the floor planking was split and cracked as you went inside so had to watch for splinters, this remained the same all week despite complaints to reception and although perfectly fit and healthy I managed to get an ear infection from the pool which lasted for 3days. Prices for drinks etc in or out of the hotel have really gone up since the intro of the euro and quite honestly are hardly cheaper than the UK,so it makes me wonder if paying so much for a Gold holiday in a 4 star hotel with cr*p entertainment poor food and overpriced drinks is worth it. I know about the couples who come back year after year and have the time of their lives and I am really happy for them, but we will never go back to the Levante it is NOT GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Levante - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

We arrived after nine p.m. but they kept the restaurant open for us and took our luggage to our room whilst we were dining. we booked superior rooms and enjoyed them even down to the beach towels provided free of charge :-) there was entertainment on every night and something to do all day should you decided to stay in the hotel. Across the road in the other Levante they had the indoor swimming pool which was very nice as the pool was just too cold in april! they also had a sauna in there and a turkish bath. the exercise machines were awaiting a summer overhaul I think as it was in darkness and the machines were not connected to the electricity yet. The food was good, some strange concoctions but the broccoli fried "things" that were served on gala night were very tasty indeed. The staff dressed up for Gala night and the chefs had made all kinds of wierd and wonderful things it was really good. The rooms were cleaned every day and the cleaners are excellent they keep the hotel in tip top order and I can honestly say we had no complaints at all about the hotel or the staff, they were very courteous and helpful. The only complaint that anyone could really have was the constant trouping downstairs of the regular towel brigade, giving no one at all a chance of lying on the hotel sunbeds around the pool oh and the sunbeds on the beach are 3 euros each and the umberellas are also 3 euros!! which I though was a rip off.... we only went on there once... The resort itself was still out of season so was pretty quiet but the shops cafes and bars that were open were of good quality, we walked into cala millor most days it wasn't far and the shopping in the back of Cala millor is ok, also if you walk down to the far end the castle on the hill is worth a walk up to, you can walk inside and climb up onto the roof, there is also a cafe up there so you can have a cuppa! we went on the western encounter tour to Valldamossa, it was very good, though a little more time spent in the village would have been better than the time spent in the port, the village was far prettier. it takes a full day there so be prepared its a bit tiring with the travel. I am sure we will go again but I dont think the girls would, the guests are older and we only saw about 4 others the girls age but all in all a smashing holiday....not for teenagers or early twenties though I wouldnt say. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Levante Park - Cala Bona Operator and Date: Thomson Holidays

The resort of Cala Bona was ideal for us plenty of bars cafes and shops within easy walking distance.A suitable location for people with small children or the elderley as everywhere is flat and no noisy nightlife. Cala Millor is a short walk down the prom with lots of lively shops and bars and a bigger beach than the one at Cala Bona. The hotel was good and we had no problem getting a sunbed by the pool previous problems must have been sorted. The food was not really 4star quality. There was plenty of it but not very appetising. We noticed that anything that didn't get eaten in the main meals one day got served up in a salad the next. They seemed to be on a tight budget for food. Fried bread not eaten in the morning appeared as croutons for the soups in the evening. Hard luck if you are a vegetarian as the only option was a mixture of left over vegetables. travelled extensively with Thomson Holidays
We felt that the Levante Park was of a good standard in terms of cleanliness and food. It was, however, very disappointing for all of our party in one major area. Smoking!! As non-smokers we were extremely concerned about the high levels of cigarette smoke in the hotel's public areas - very unpleasant indeed. The most disturbing aspect was that smoke appeared in our bedrooms through the air-conditioning unit. We thought that the smoke was being drawn in under the door and proceeded to block off this space with a towel at night - However - the smoke continued to enter the room. It caused irritation to eyes and throats. The landing outside our bedrooms was frequently full of smoke and always had a stale smell of smoke. This was brought to the attention of the Thomson Holidays
We feel that all non-smokers in this hotel are being subjected to
high levels of passive smoking. If you are concerned about your health
and feel strongly about smoke related illnesses, please raise this
matter with Thomson Holidays
When Britain becomes smoke-free, will we still be subjected to high levels of passive smoking abroad? We did make a formal complaint but hold little hope of even getting a
reply from Thomson Holidays

Ther are some rooms with very poor views. We asked to move, but were met with a firm and not very friendly NO! We persisted and moved after two days to a room with a view over the pool! Air con was good in the rooms, but only works when the key card was inserted in the slot, designed for use only when you are in the room. If you want the room to stay cool all day ask for an extra keycard and leave it in the slot 24hrs a day. I know wasteful, but when temperatures are 36 degrees very much required. Main complaint! For a Thomson Holidays
All the comments re booking beds is not exagerrated. 7am seems to be the best time if you want a good bed, but 8.30 most days and there still were some beds. Most people seemed to leave the pool around 4 and it was allways easy to move to the sunny area then. Generally a good hotel but not quite a four star! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Levante Park - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

No problems getting sunbeds this year either thanks to the modifications made to the pool area. This comment also applies to the Levante across the road. Thomson Holidays

As last year the Hotel and room were spotless, the staff kind and helpful. The highlight again, as last year, was the presentation and quality of the food, absolutely delicious. We felt the entertainment was better this year,we enjoyed the Bee
Gees tribute group and had a good laugh with comedian David Betton. Some
of the other acts were mediocre. Our favourite all round entertainer
however was Caroline Lord(Thomson Holidays
We used the pool at the Hotel Levante for our swimming,it is a useful size ( approx 20 mtrs ),we usually got a sunbed just after breakfeast (any later though and you would probably be disappointed). We had two weeks of very good weather, plenty of sun and blue skies. We have friends who were on holiday the weeks immediately before and after us and they both had some days of heavy rain. If you want some traditional english sandwiches for a dinner time snack, or to take to the airport on return, try Julies about 200 yards from the hotel towards the harbour. The market at Inca has to be one of the biggest and best in Spain try it and see, but give yourself plenty of time at least half a day there. It is a safe and friendly resort with some fantastic resturants and bars. We stayed in a private apartment which is near to everything. The beach is small which we like as its not overcrowded. Cala Millor has nicer sand but is a lot busier. (check out the sand wizards!) Our favourite place to eat was by far the paparazzi italian resturant we went there several times, they get very busy so you may have to wait for table. Also Tony's in the harbour is very good. Our favourite place of all in Cala Bona is a bar called Sanddancers situated down the road from the London Inn. Tracey and Faz as always helped us have a fantastic time with lots of laughs, singing and dancing. Our sons love it there as they cater very well for children with a mini cinema, computer games etc... The bar staff are great fun - Rachael, Becky and Hugh and little faz the magician is a star in the making! Sanddancers def. worth a visit. On the whole Cala Bona is an unspoilt, well kept and safe place to go with your family to relax, eat well and be merry! Not for young groups of lads and ladies looking for nightclubs. Only downside and no lift and no air con but for what we paid we were well satisfied. Booked a taxi from the airport with Balearic Transfers -very good. The swimming pool was clean and well mantained and towels and bed linen was changed every day.A word of warning there is no lift so it could be quite a drag if your room is on the third floor.Another problem is the rooms over the street pretty noisy so if you are a person who likes to be in bed before 1 o'clock ask for a room over the pool. There are plenty of good to eat to suit all tastes in the area and eating in the hotel is very reasonable about 5 euros for a buffet breakfast and 8 euros for dinner. The hotel was only one star and very cheap. The room was fairly spacious and very clean with a decent sized balcony. The hotel was well situated on the main street in Cala Bona and right next to the beach. The food was good (although more continental than some of the more English hotels). The coffee on a morning was not so good but considering the price of the hotel, not a problem. The swimming pool was rather small. Travelling alone I was a little nervous but found the other guests very friendly (mostly English but a few German). The bar was very nice and doubled as a pavement cafe. The only problem I could see was the lack of a lift meaning the hotel was unsuitable for anyone with mobility problems (anyone with young children should request a first floor room). This is a quiet hotel but it is directly opposite the Pago Pago Beach Bar which has entertainment most nights (although this quietens down after midnight). All in all, I think this hotel represents great value for money. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ola Aparthotel Isabel - Cala Bona Operator and Date: independant - 2006 Opinion submitted in July 2006 by : casy mitchell 38,42,7,5, Resort Rating: Good Accommodation Rating: Average My/Our Holiday Review: good complex for families. very good staff in reception and bar staff especially kiko and jordi very good banter with them. however the food int he snack bar was pathetic the breakfast is yuk and the midday or evening food is just ok not cheap either.they have a all you can eat buffet on a mon and wed and a bbq on a fri for E10.00 per adt and E5.00 for a child but when we went to take a look not very good you are better going down into cala bona where there is a fablous choice. one that si def worth a visit is the london inn very big portions and good prices, also try sanddancers bar very geared up for kiddies. they have ps2 for kids to play and a cinema and play area out the back keeps them busy while you can relax. in cala bona its self there is quite a few restraunts not alot of bars entertainemt is mainly in your complex. the mini club operates from 11.00 - 12.30 and from 15.00 17.00 every day bar sat and is led by the 4 dutch people. femka, nicoline, waldo and rick who are fantastic at there job. watch out for the fun dance it is very cathcy and you will find yourself wanting to dance dance dance. every night thereis a show but i found it very repetative after a while. overall good place you will enjoy, however i dont think i would hurry back. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ola Aparthotel Isabel - Cala Bona Operator and Date: Budget Travel - June 2004 Opinion submitted in Mar 2005 by : Paula-Dublin 8,,6, 17, 19, 50,52 Resort Rating: Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: The resort is nice, good for relaxing hoildays and young kids. Food wise there is a vast range available to all pockets our favorite was the Vel Mari on the harbour side well looked after by the waitress Chris. Also cheap and cheerful was the Beach Boys Bar between Cala Bona and Cala Millor good food, good crack and very affordable. Entertainment is also varied but for all tastes The Sanddancers bar near to the Sema will take some beating. Despite it's location, the noise wasn't intrusive (but then our house backs onto the A1 so we are used to road noise). The apartments themselves were spacious - we particularly liked the separate kitchen with utility area. We had a 2 bedroom apartment and both rooms were spacious, as was the bathroom (with bath, shower & bidet). The balcony was on the small side however the ground floor apartments had nice terrace areas which I would recommend. The sun hit the balcony at approx 2pm and stayed until sunset. The apartments were very clean, slightly dated but overall no complaints. We had use of the pool opposite the apartments which was very quiet and we frequently had the pool and sun terrace to ourselves for an hour or more on a morning which was nice. They have in the last 2 years opened up a large play area in Cala Bona before you get to the harbour - there's trampolines, go karts and a bouncy castle plus a few other rides for the kids to try. When we first came to Cala Bona/Millor in 1999 we found a fantastic bar called "CHEERS" (link at end of review) which did fantastic freshly cooked food - with 'proper' chips, we went back again in 2002 and returned again this time and it was as good as ever. The owner/chef Kevin and rest of the staff ensure a warm welcome and we've yet to have a bad meal in there! I can heartily recommend the Chicken Parmo and their Sunday Roasts (mouth watering at the thought) When we couldn't be bothered to walk into Cala Millor (approx 10/15 mins) we ate at the Smugglers Bar at Cala Bona harbour - food not up to Cheers standards but not bad and we had a nice welcome there too. Argos Bar (follow the signs when in Cala Bona harbour) was good to have a drink at during the day - a right little sun trap but they didn't cook food on an evening so can't comment on their food. For us Cala Bona/Millor is perfect as it's so flat - walking with the kids doesn't pose a problem at all and the promenade that runs along both resorts is pedestrianised altho' you have to watch out for for bikes, go karts and electric scooters from the hire shops. We've been 3 times now and have plans to go back again in 2006 - we'd be more than happy to stay at the Sema Apartments again and we'll deffintely heading back to Cheers! A million times better than the horrible Midas Apartments in Cala Millor , where we spent the first ( sleepless ) night ! After a lot of phone calls and arguments we managed to get moved to the Sema Apts ( where we originally wanted to stay - Pandora Sol assured us that the MIdas Apts in Cala Millor were far superior, but the noise from the bars and disco's below was just too much for anyone to tolerate, especially a family with young children . I would recommend the resort of Cala Bona, but i would never use

Best food we had was at the Es Mollet by the harbour, truly exellent, well worth paying a bit extra and eating there rather than the cheaper places. Best breakfasts were at Smithy's, also by the harbour, again highly recommended. The London Inn, again very nice food and lots of it ! Good entertainment, make sure you see "Fallon", exellent entertainer - highly amusing, not laughed so much for ages . The pool area at the apartments is very small and I should imagine in the height of the season very very packed!!! The only downside to our holiday was the evening entertainment. The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves, unfortunately my husband and I would rather sit and watch the world go by not have bingo, quizes and karaoke thrust down our throats every night by the same people. If you wanted to sit in the pub you had to play along with these games. We are not boring old farts, and we like a drink and a laugh, but having this pushed in your face every night, except Thursday, spoilt the holiday for us. Cala Bona in itself is a very nice Resort, pretty and lots of places to see. Sol-Y-Mar however is another story. The accomodation was quite good in size, but the cleanliness was not that brilliant. In the week we were there I had to ask for clean towels twice (they were meant to be changed every 2 days), the bathroom was dirty and the shower broke. The Kitchen area is very small and Kettle, Toaster, Fan and Remote for the TV can all be obtained from the reception for a deposit. There is no air conditioning in the rooms and the TV channels are not worth getting. The Crown Pub was a nightmare. Every night all they do is Karaoke, again....again and again. The food in the Crown is very expensive and not very nice at all, I suggest eating else where. There are hundreds of Restaurants within walking distance. There is nothing to do for small kids, no play area or play room. The beach in Cala Bona is not suitable for entering the water from. The rocks in the water cut my oldest sons feet and shins to shreds, however, the beach in Cala Millor some 10-15 mins walk is lovely........but early risers get the spots as it fills up quickly. The shops along the front have everything you will need, and also for souveniers. The highlight of our holiday was the Pirates Adventure in Magaluff, it is quite expensive about £40.00 per adult and about £30.00 per child, but what a fantastic show. The food and the drink (Beer and Sangria) and also Fizzy drinks and juices are free all night. The kids and adults thouroughly enjoyed the evening. I would go back to Majorca but I don't think it will be Cala Bona, if I do go back to Cala Bona it definately won't be to the Sol-y-Mar. We are very likely to go back to this resort in the future, maybe trying the Floriana -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sol-Y-Mar Apartments - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

They did have a young lady who came in one night to sing but that was it,so we found a bar called the 60's bar which is 15 mins walk along the sea front and that was brill my son loved the s club 7 party group(a young lady from the group sang to him)my daughter enjoyed the night also, but every night there is a different group in there and its all very good entertainment. As for shopping its brill plenty of shops for food, clothes, shoes, toys, booze, fags and if you go along to Pedro and Eileens the corner shop which is 2 mins walk along from the sol-y-mar(turn right out of the sol-y-mar)they are so nice and helpful (we spent many a time talking to them) Food outside the apartment is also nice we found a nice little place across the rd from Pedro and Eileens shop. There is also a KFC and Burger King which does come in handy if you want a quick tea or snack but lots of nice places to eat all around cala bona. We went on a trip to the western water park with Thomson Holidays
The beach is ok at cala bona but if you walk along a little it does get better. All in all we had a great time and we will be going back next yr and the yr after that etc..... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Son Florriana - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays
Opinion submitted in July 2005 by : Debbie and John, Cardonald Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: Couldn't fault the accommodation at all, everything is as you expect a luxury holiday to be, hotel spotles, staff very friendly and helpful, rooms spacious and clean. The resort itself is beautiful, Our favourite place for eating was The Donkey's rest where you will always get a warm welcome from David and Denise, food is excellent and well priced, quality of a restaurant although it's a cafe-bar. You can relax, have a drink and enjoy the beautiful views. Just a short stroll along the prominade heading for Cala Millor. I wouldn't eat in snoddy's next to the Donkey's rest, service abismal! The food was ok, nothing to rave about! Heard someone from the table next to us return a drink as it tasted of bleach. Be warned! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Sur - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays
Opinion submitted in October 2006 by : Linda and Les - Warrington (57, 60 ) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Poor My/Our Holiday Review: We are still in a state of shock! We arrived after midnight and were dropped off outside the Levante. There were only my husband and myself going to the Hotel Sur, and not sure where it was, I asked the driver where we were to go. He waved his hand in the general direction and off we trotted with our cases, while porters came out from the Levante to help their guests. We almost walked past the Sur, it was so dingy you could barely tell it was a hotel. The lobby/lounge was so dark we could barely see, and our room was dirty. The sheets were quite clean but did'nt fit properly, so we ended up sleeping on a bare matress, yuck. On the Sunday the bathroom light went and it was Thursday before it got replaced. The chef spent most of his time wandering round and once when we came out of the lift, he was stood at reception counter with a receptionist and they had the paper open at the racing pages. The food was something to behold, breakfast was the same every day for two weeks and dinner was disgusting. We had paid for half board, but we only ate two meals, the rest of the time we had to eat out. twice we had to get toilet rolls out of the public toilet and more than twice we had to go and ask for towels. I walked from the shower to the bedroom and my feet got so dirty I had to go wash them again. We had to go out and buy bath cleaner and air freshener. The Sur's only redeeming grace was the resident artist, he was brilliant, but every night? The resort itself was outstanding, and we had some fabulous meals out
round the harbour. I am so disapointed with Thomson Holidays
Give Cala Bona a go, You won't regret it so long as you get a good hotel. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Sur - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

Beach not very nice, a bit pebbly and smelly. Seemed to be a bit more happening in Cala Millor, but the beach there was really smelly. Would probably not return to this resort again, nor to the Sur. PS - Visit Sonny's bar for a good meal at a reasonable price. On the whole wasn't sorry to leave and come home, when usually I have to be dragged onto the bus back to the airport. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Sur - Cala Bona Operator and Date: Gold Trail - August 2006 Opinion submitted in September 2006 by : Anne Fraley - Essex (48,44,12) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Poor My/Our Holiday Review: Where do I start, please DONT book into the hotel Sur it will be your holiday from Hell. We arrived at approx 4.30 in the morning. I gasped at the state of the hotel immediately. We were accommodation on arrival so couldnt review our hotel beforehand. We were given a bottle of water on arrival by a nice night receptionist. Looking round the reception i saw at once how dismal and dingy it was. Entering our room we immediately thought it too small for 3 of us. My friend pulled back the cover on the bed to see 4 very large stains on the sheet. She had to sleep on the top cover. The next day we complained to the manager about the filthy sheets and the overall state of the room mainly the bath which wasnt very nice at all. My friend said that if they would give her the cleaning materials she would clean the room. The manager said that the cleaner would clean it. We were asked if we would like to change rooms which we did to a slightly bigger room but equally filthy. After a day on the beach we came back to find lots of irate people complaining that there was no hot water. We didnt have hot water for 3 nights. We complained every day and was told that the plumber was fixing it. Breakfast wasnt too bad there was a proper English breakfast cereals rather stale rolls and cakes. The plates and cutlery however was another matter, 1 morning i had to go through 8 plates until i found a cleanish one. The waitress had no uniform and no energy she walked around picking up plates but put no effort into her job at all. The manager and some of the other staff smoked at reception and were not proffessional at all. There was however 1 nice receptionist who we felt sorry for because she had worked there for 25 years and when the previous owner died 2 years ago the new owner took over and the place went steadily downhill. She got very upset on numerous occasions because she couldnt help us. After 3 nights with no hot water we had had enough. My friend marched downstairs and told the manager we needed some hot water he replied you are not doing it properly. We demanded he show us how to turn on the tap. After admitting defeat he booked us into the Hotel Taylot which was a beautiful 3 star hotel which we had expected. The area of Cala Bona is nice. With lots of restaurants the harbour and shops lots to do. But please dont book into the Hole called Hotel Sur. We were also told by the staff at Hotel Taylot that this happens a lot and people are transferred to them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Sur - Cala Bona Operator and Date: Find Rooms - August 2006 Opinion submitted in September 2006 by : Stephen Craig - Preston (39,37,8,4) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Good My/Our Holiday Review: We booked Hotel Sur fairly last minute over the internet and we found it overall to be very good value for money. It is certainly not a luxury hotel by any means but we found that it satisfied our needs just fine. We knew it was a budget, fairly basic hotel so for the money we paid (it was very cheap!), we were well pleased with what we got. If you paid big money to stay here though, then I can understand how you could be somewhat disappointed. The room was of average size, clean and with a sea view. The food was perhaps a bit limited in choice, however we always found something every night that was tasty enough, hot and there was always plenty of it. The pool area was smallish but again was big enough for the amount of guests staying at the hotel - always sunbeds available anytime we wanted them. Careful though if like me you're not a great swimmer - the pool gets very deep, very quickly! The bar immediately beneath the hotel could be noisy at night, even after midnight, however it didn't really bother us too much. No air conditioning in the room, so it could get a little sticky on some of the more humid nights. You can hire a fan from reception though if it gets too bad. The hotel is in the perfect location though - right in the heart of the resort, near the harbour and 1 minute from the beach and prom. We thought Cala Bona itself was a lovely place. Especially the harbour area. Very picturesque and with a varied choice of good restaurants and bars. Something for everyone I'd say. Not a raucous place at all, more low-key and calm, but with certainly enough life and enough going on to keep families and couples happily occupied. There are also bouncy castles, bungee trampolines, little racing cars etc in the town to help keep the little ones amused. The prom leading to Cala Millor was also a nice place to take a stroll along at night with plenty of shops, bars, cafe's and with a nice holiday atmosphere. We found a wonderful family bar called 'Sanddancers' situated on the road behind the Sur just along from the London Inn. Terrific for all the family, especially the kids - they loved it here and it felt very safe for them to enjoy themselves there. Free to use playstations, kids cinema, quizzes, kareoke etc. The DJ and all of the other staff were great and made you feel very welcome. Can also recommend the London Inn (especially for home cooked food!) and Cheers Bar in Cala Millor which was also great fun. Quite a few of the bars in Cala Bona seemed to have decent entertainment going on in them at night but its certainly not a place for all night partying and nightclubs! The beach in Cala Bona is fine, however it is better in Cala Millor (10 mins walk from Cala Bona) as the sand is better, less rocky and is much bigger, although very busy. The beach at Sa Coma (about 7 euros in a taxi) is excellent too. All in all, a great family holiday and we would certainly visit Cala Bona again. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Sur (Sur - Beach) - Cala Bona Operator and Date: Goldtrail - Aug 2006 Opinion submitted in September 2006 by : Tracy, Anne, Barney - Essex (44, 48, 12) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Poor My/Our Holiday Review: Where do we start...please dont go to this hole we lasted 3 days...there was no hot water at all, we had to steal towels from the trolley as we were told we had to use them for 3 days, queue up with the rest of the guests for toilet rolls and sheets from reception, we bought cleaning stuff to clean the filthy bathroom and bought lightbulbs... the pool was filthy and smelled (we thought it was salt water but it did turn out to be chlorine!)The night we arrived we couldnt sleep in the beds as the sheets were filthy, the food was disgusting mainly cold burgers every night and guests were searching through the crockery and cutlery to find clean plates cups etc that werent covered in grease and food, we had to keep our shoes on in the room as the floors were filthy, all the staff including the restaurant and reception staff were smoking at all times (I myself smoke so I'm not anti!)The owners attitude was 'couldnt care less' all he said was this hotel is only 1 star. Luckily the hotel over the road let our hotel guests shower and use the pool. Also on the 2nd day we had a watch stolen from our room. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Sur - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

My room wasn't cleaned once and no clean towels or beding.Somebody was sick at the side of the pool and the cleaners were asked to clean it but it was one of the guest's who went to the shop and bought bleach and swilled it down. The food now that's another story it wouldn't have been to bad i suppose if it had been even warm but no cold cold cold. The resort it's self was lovely and i couldn't fault it but next time

The breakfast was average but the evening meal was pretty bland and in our case unedible. The room was very clean but pretty small. We had a bottle of perfume stolen from our room on the third day. When we reported it to the manager he just said that he had agency staff in and could not do anything about it because the lady denied taking it. This incident spoilt our holiday. Because of this for peace of mind we had to lock everything in the safe and suitcases when we went out. The Resort itself was nice although a bit quite for young ones. The beach was clean too. A nice pub to visit with decent entertainment was in Calor Millor called the british bulldog. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. A point to remember a taxi from the airport will cost you between 75 and 80 Euros each way. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Sur - Cala Bona Operator and Date: virtual packages - july 2005 Opinion submitted in Aug 2005 by : mark hughes - dudley ( 43,42,17,17,8 ) Resort Rating: Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: booked this holiday via the internet , took a big chance . but what a suprise !!!!!!!! the hotel was the best value for money hotel weve stayed in . spoke to the new owner and he told us the improvements he intended to make for next year ( i couldnt think of much to improve !)the main one being air conditioning , so be warned there is none at the moment so it gets sticky at night . we only stayed for one week but thay wasnt really enough . the food served was of an excellent quality , and its the first time in all the years ive been going abroad that weve actually had proper sausages , must be the german influence . cala bona itself is a lovely place , very very clean , not too rowdy and the cultural mix made it a very interesting place to be . the pago bar underneath the hotel seemed to be the place to be in cala bona , the entertainment during the day and at night was mostly of an excellent quality , if your walking past check out whos on , there are two guys , goran and tiho , who play there regularly who are excellent . and if you are concerned about being over a bar dont be all the music around the area tends to stop at midnight . we went half board , which suited us , but cala bona has an excellent selection of restaurants , and if you get a little homesick pop into the london inn and tuck into some proper english tucker , i had cottage pie chips n peas for lunch one day and it was very good and very reasonably priced . i hope this is of some use to anyone who intends to look for a good value holiday. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Sur - Cala Bona Operator and Date: Just Holidays - September 2004 Opinion submitted in Oct 2004 by : Barbara - High Wycombe (62, 65) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: Booked this last minute as a cheapie! We were a bit worried about it only be 1* and thought it might turn out to be a "holiday from hell". But we were well satisfied with everything we got. Although the reception is a bit dark and gloomy, don't let this put you off, the rest of the hotel is bright and airy.- The bedroom was larger than normal, spotlessly clean and furniture of a good standard. Clean towels and maid service every day. Large balcony overlooking the street (good for people watching), but you can request a bedroom at the back of the hotel overlooking the pool, which may be a bit quieter but we weren't really bothered by noise. Lovely light airy lounge for relaxing, reading or as some guests were doing, playing cards. Excellent small enclosed playground for toddlers/young children, tennis court, lovely small pool with separate childrens pool and plenty of free sunbeds (but no mattresses, so need a cheap blow-up lilo). The food was all self-service, even to collecting your own cutlery (although dishes were cleared from your table promptly between courses) but the food was very, very good, plenty of choices and as much as you could eat. The hotel was full and we did not hear any body complaining about
anything. We did have a look at the Thomson Holidays
For a relaxing basic holiday it was just fine. By the way, the coffee served from the bar area in the front of the hotel was the best I've ever tasted. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Sur - Cala Bona Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

Each year seems to improve on the last and I cannot believe it has only one star rating. This year there was hardly anyone else in the hotel. The food had improved and I had the pool more or less to myself and my family. With waiter service from the bar, it was like having my own private villa at a fraction of the price. The rooms are basic but clean and the pool is one of the cleanest I have seen. The hotel is bar is perfect whether for a drink after swimming a relaxing evening drink while you watch the world go by. The staff are friendly without being intrusive. I have stayed in many more expensive hotels and have not relaxed like I do here. In fact I spoke to a number of people from the Levante (opposite) who had spent double the amount to stay there and had to share dining tables, but towels on sunbeds etc. In short ask about this hotel at your travel agent, it is not widely advertised. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Sur Beach - Cala Bona Operator and Date: Independent - Sept 2006 Opinion submitted in September 2006 by : Marc Patterson- Sanquhar (25) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Good My/Our Holiday Review: Cala Bona is a excellent resort for quiet and relaxing holidays,

The location of the hotel is excellent with Cala Bona to the left and Cala Millor to the right all the rooms have a sea view and the hotel is quiet as all the local bars shut at midnight. Both resorts have plenty of shops bars and restaurants and is mainly pedestrianised, try the excellent english run Spar shop next to the hotel for fresh cobs etc.The beach is about 5 mins walk away in either direction and there are plenty of sunbeds which are 3.50 euros each, the local boat trips are very good and worth the money 3 hour trip 18 euros each. All in all we would recommend both the hotel and the resort to couples and families of all ages. Only 1 word of WARNING don't leave your bag unattended on the beach if you have any valuables in it we had a bag stolen but it seems to have been an isolated incident so don't let it put you off because you won't be disappointed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Temi Hotel - Cala Bona Operator and Date: Monarch -June 2005 Opinion submitted in July 2005 by : Eileen Hattersley - Chadderton(68,63,4,) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: We have just returned from Cala Bona for the sacond time this year. After a stay at a hotel in april this year, we picked up a leaflet from the Temi Hotel for you to make a booking directly with the Hotel, included in the price was to pick up and return you to the airport, which is a bout 65-70 minutes away.We checked flights and got a really good deal with Monarch airline for the 3 of us.The car was waiting for us on our arrival with the driver holding up a card with our names on, who took us directly to the Hotel, he would not let us carry our luggage, insisting he did it. The Hotel is 90% German, but I must say how polite they were, not once was there a towel put on a sunbed, some days we had the pool to ourselves all day, as the hotel is directly facing the sea it seems the Germans prefar the beach, but as we took our grandchild she loved the swimming pool so much that is were we stayed most of the day, and pleased to say she learned to swim during our stay. The Hotel is spotlessly clean, the bedrooms are spacous and well furnished, with plenty of wardrobe space, and all the staff are frendly and helpful. The food was good but we felt we would have liked a bit more choice.Cala Bona itself is fabulous, its flat for walking, beautiful harbour, beautiful beaches, more so at Calla millor end, lots of lovely bars and resturants, and quite a lot of them have entertainment on at night. We enjoyed it so much that my daughter and family are on there way there tomorrow, and we will devinatly be returning again next year. |
