My/Our Holiday Review:

Very Clean Hotel. Salou in general we found was very well kept compared to other areas in spain.

The facilities were excellent. The indoor pool, steam room and sauna was an extra bonus and you only had to pay ?1 for the towel that was it.

It's a kids paradise as well...loads of things to do but we all found ourselves joining in for the fun. they try get everyone involved but dont force you at the same time.

The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed all inclusive which we found repetitive but we went into salou a few nights for a change. The drinks included in the all inclusive are the cheap spirits but they do the job!

You can also book a packed lunch the night before to be collected the next day at breakfast which is very handy.

The theme park is a must for all ages. Also there is a water park in La pineda that was better than the water park in portadventura.which is also handy.

Keep bargaining with shop assistants name a price and stick to it and eventually they will give in if you go to walk away.

when readin reviews people kept mentioning the oil rig...but well we couldnt tell you where it was!! try get a room facing the pool its much nicer.

An brilliant holiday was had by all and we would go back in the morning!!

the larimar apartments are a secure complex about 15min from the beach and central to the shops and entertainment that salou has to offer. the apartments are clean and the pool is excellent it is a safe complex and you can only enter with a key. the pool area has plenty of sun loungers but has no parisols and can get very warm with no shaded area. when we visited in july it was mainly spanish residents who we found to be not very patient with children.and would not recommend these apartments to people who where spending their whole holiday at the complex, but they where good for us as we hired a car and did not spend all of our time at the apartments.

the restuarant we visited most mornings for a full english breakfast was the boat house which was situated 5 min from the larimar the food was good and the staff were very friendly.

My/Our Holiday Review:

I booked this accommodation through Thomas Cooke as this meant I had the benifits of being able to pay in installments and ABTA protection.

I asked Thomas Cooke in person and by phone for information on how I was to get the key. Thomas Cooke always fobbed me off. I phoned Superbreak who told me there was a 24 hour reception desk, there is not as these aparments are residential.

I had got a phone number that turned out to be the reception desk at the Podium Apartments. These apartments are a five minute walk away. If I had not known the name of these apartments I would not have been able to understand what the receptionist who was less then helpful was saying as his English was very poor. He was very unhelpful and could not give us directions to the Podium. I know you could argue my Spanish could be better but I have come to expect a good level of English from someone doing his job.

The aparments are spacious and include a washing machine and a very good electric cooker. There were no instructions with the very complicated washing machine. It would chug away for hours with not very good results. It was as well there was one provided as the towels and bedding were never changed or the aparment cleaned in the two weeks we were there.(the web page indicates that towells are changed twice a week.)

The air conditioning did not work in the living area, did not exist is the twin bedroom and was feable in the main bedroom. This was annoying as was a reason I chose this apartment.

There is no car parking as advertised on the web page or a games room. Parking is very difficult in the immediate area.

The shower was unusable as there was no shower curtain and the water came out of the showerhead sideways flooding the bathroom. However there was plenty of hot water.

Our immediate nieghbours had also booked with Superbreak. They were also told there was a 24 hour reception and had all the same problems finding the apartments. On top of this they had no hot water and found that the Podium were very slow to sort this out. with 3 young children this was a major inconvenience.

The pool is excellent and very clean. Most of the other residents and holiday makers were Spanish. Because of this there was no putting out your towells and then going to the beach all day. The pool was the busiest in the early evenings.

I booked the flights and accommodation separately as I was sick of being charged under occupancy fees by the package tour operaters. Against their quotes the accomodation was good value for money and the apartments are well placed. They are between the Golden Avenda Park hotel and the Sol Piramide hotel. I would recommend the apartments but try a different letting agent. I have been told Universal are excellent. I am disapointed by both Thomas Cooke and in particular Superbreak in their lack of communication on how to get into the apartments and the incorrect information displayed on Superbreak's website.

I was concerned there were no reviews about these apartments and can now believe it was because they have never been found!

I chose Salou as I wanted somewhere two 15 year old girls would be safe and have enough to do. The resort is perfect. The girs went to the both Port Aventura theme park and water park and had a great time. We went in the evening to the theme park when it was less busy and cooler. This worked well.

The water park opens at 10.00am to 7pm. The girls had a full and excellent day there. Don't fork out money for a ring for some rides as they are provided. You also need to remember money for lockers, currently 7 euros.

The beaches are all very clean and shallow so suitable for small children. On some beaches at Cap Salou there are no facilities and no shade.

Tarragona is a lovely town and well worth a visit. It is free to get into the Roman arena but there is a very small fee for the Roman circus and children are free.

The local restraunts are as you would expect, none really stood out.

La Pineda has a great beach and is much less crowded than the main beaches in Salou.

This was a good holiday and I would recommed the resort to any parents with teenagers as I always felt they were safe.

Stayed at Hotel Las Vegas half board in June of 2007 for 14 night;s.This is our 2nd stay at this hotel, on both occassion,s we have been 110% happy. Hotel is rightly so four star, entrance, reception, dining room, bedroom,s, all common area,s are spotless clean, staff very polite and helpful, all meals enjoyable, and varied. We stayed on 5th floor, with beautiful sea view, and balcony a total suntrap in evening, safes-fridges available at low rate, room,s are airconditioned. Two minutes from lovely beach, sunbed,s&parasol,s for hire plenty to do on beach, jet ski-ing banana boat trips, para gliding or just lie and relax.Lot,s of great watering holes to visit, great entertainment to be had for all great resturant,s, plenty shopping if that,s what you like, no hassles, advise you to take trip,s to Barcelona etc, very reasonable excurtion,s to various places too many too mention.

All in all brilliant holiday, excellent accomodation we will certainly be returning next year, met up with some great friend,s whom we plan to meet up with 2008.Don,t alway,s go by negative feed-backs, believe you will have a brill holiday for families or couples alike, they cater for all, and surprise surprise it does not cost you the earth, you will be very pleasantly surprised.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Have just returned from one week at this hotel and felt it necessary to add my comments as we did look at the reviews before chosing it.I can only say that this hotel was generally very noisy at night due to the thin walls and the local rowdy youngsters outside in the sea in the early hours of the morning.

The hotel on arriving looked very plush and very comfortable, that is until you have to sit for a while.

On booking in we were told that there was a no smoking policy in Spain and that you were not allowed to smoke in your room. (apparently this is the new ruling for all public places with the exception of restaurants but this is due to chage after Xmas). They did have an assigned smoking area but it was always keptlocked, therefore all smokers had to sit outside even to watch the entertainment.

The hotel is generally full of Germans and French hence the entertainment was the same.

The reception staff and cleaners were polite and helpful, but the waiters dont want to know.

My main gripe is with the restaurant, here the Maitre De is as much use as a chocolate fireguard, only had 2/3 staff and therefore no tables were cleared if you appeared late for your sitting.Your meal was consumed before you get a waiter to order you drinks, the crockery is cold and often chipped and so scattered about you have to search out for it.

There are 2 sittings-we were on the first-and noticed that the hot food was being taken away 45 min before the end time for your sitting in readiness for the 2ND sitting,so dont arrive late.

The food was mainly pork and chips(3 times in the week),dessert remained unchanged and alot of the food contained garlic.

Go back to this hotel!-NEVER. There are other hotels in Salou that are far better that we have been to in the past.

I would rate this Hotel 2 star plus.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The hotel Las Vegas is a superb hotel that is spotlessly clean and well maintained. The lobby area is stunning and very well staffed.

The hotel bar is very cheap for drinks although we did not drink there often as we lke to sample the local nightlife.

The pool area was lovely and we prefered the smaller pool to the side of the hotel that was quieter and the sun was on this pool all day until around 3pm. the larger pool was shady and alot busier. The hotel states that you must not save beds by putting towels on the beds but certain people still do!!!

The food was quite nice (not gourmet) but still enough variety to please most. The only annoying thing is the queueing system which was very annoying as you needed to queue twice.

The rooms were very nice and cleaned daily to a high standard, although a bit cramped for three and a little short on wardrobe space.

At the back of the hotel you will find Idols, Chaplins and Christies which is a must on a Sunday with Elvis and the Rat Pack, superb evening and air con.

We also enjoyed the Black Bull on the main pedestrianised shopping strip which has housey housey and quizzes which is good fun for all the family.

The Beach Life Bar in Cap salou is a must for lunch as the food is to die for!!

All in all we had a great time in Salou and the Las Vegas is a must.

I use this site all the time before booking a hotel and have never written a review before. Well here goes!

The hotel was a nicer looking than pictures suggest. It was in the heart of Salou with a 5min walk to the beach and the centre of town.

The food at the hotel was good. I am quite a fussy eater but managed to find something each night. Be aware that you are given a sitting time to eat at, either 7pm or 8.30pm (Don't be late or you will get a row from the head waiter!!!)

The rooms were clean and tidy and quite roomy considering there were 3 of us. We got a late room no problem for 25 euros.

Pool area was good, 3 pools and only 1 had a problem with beds. Pool was v.cold but wee girl din't mind.

Some people have suggested that this is a 4*, don't think it is quite that good but it is a very high 3*. Only thing that was a pain was the very thin walls.

If we go back to Salou we would't heisatate staying here again.

My/Our Holiday Review:

I went on holiday to this hotel with my sister in July. We booked with First Choice about a month and a half before we went.

The Hotel is about 20 minutes away from Reus Airport. The airport is very small and is easy to find your way around.

We travelled to our hotel by coach and were the only ones to be dropped off! The rep on the bus gave a talk about the area and gave us a welcome meeting card for our rep at the hotel too.

We arrived around 11 am in the morning a little bit later than expected, which was a good thing as we were not allowed into our room until 12pm. We were offered the use of a luggage room to put our suitcases while we waited.

The hotel las vegas is lovely and looks very posh, with marble floors, glass doors and lots of comfy chairs. It has 3 pools with one that does get very busy. There is also a gym, games room, bar and restaurant.

We were on the 4th floor with a great view over looking the pool and out to the sea. The room was basic but comfortable. The bathroom had a bath with a shower, toilet, bidet and a hair dryer.

The room also had a TV with lots of foreign channels, CNN was the only one we understood! The wardrobe had a safe in it which you can hire. There was also a fridge which you could hire too, very useful for keeping the bottled water. The balcony had two chairs and a table.

The walls between the rooms are thin and some noise from the other rooms can be heard, such as chairs scraping the floor.

To use the electricity and the air conditioning you have to put your key card into a slot near the door. The air conditioning did make a difference! the only thing with the air conditioning is that as soon as you open the door to the balcony it stops.

The rooms were cleaned every day with the option of having the towels changed daily too. No cockroaches!

The reception staff were friendly and most spoke very good english.

Take a trip to the 6th floor for some views of the area.

The majority of the guests are Spanish, Dutch, German and English. While we were there there was only a few Brits.

The food does reflect this! Breakfast was great a buffet style with a large choice of bread, rolls, cooked breakfast, pastries, fruit, cereals, ham and cheese. You can have tea and coffee from a machine, and there is also a machine for fruit juice too. Hot dog sauages were served one breakfast!

At dinner in the evening it was bit harder. My sister is a vegetarian and she was living on cheese, vegetables and potatoes/chips most evenings. Most of the meat/fish is labelled with a sign so that you can tell what it is! Some of the food is unusual, lots of the food were covered in sauces, there were brussel sproats one night, and also fried cauliflower too!

Dessert was much better with a choice of fruit, cakes and ice cream.

The dinner is in two sittings and is buffet style again. When we checked in we were given a time to eat and a table number for the whole week. The tables are not all clearly numbered so we had to ask where we were seated. I do not remember seeing any one seated with people they did not know.

There was always something on in the evening, though it was more for the spanish /older guests. It was mostly dancers and kareoke.

The resort of Salou is great with a long promenade lined with palm trees. At one end there is a fountain that is lit up at night. There are plenty of shops and restaurants too. The beach does get very busy, and we had trouble finding a shady place. There are loungers that you can hire for the day if you want to.

There is lots to do in the evening, the shops are still open and there are plenty of bars and clubs. Our hotel was near snoopys, crocs and charlie chaplins.

We went to Portaventura twice, once during the day and the second time in the afternoon to evening. We got the bus to it once which cost 1 euro 20 each, one way and took about 15 minutes. We also got the little train and that cost 2 euros 50 each, one way but this took longer to get there.

You can not do all of portaventura in one day! It is split up into 5 different countries/themes. There are plenty of shows on to see as well as the rides but they are all in spanish! Fort Frenzee and the Aloha Tahiti shows are great. There were lots of places to eat, we like Jeromiahs in the Wild West. It served pizza, fries, salad, cakes, fruit and drinks. Pizza, fries and a large coke came to 9 euros 80.

We also went to Barcelona for the day. It took about 2 hours on the coach. We left it a bit late to go as we got the coach at 11am. We should have gone earlier as we did not see all that we wanted to. Las Ramblas is good to see the street entertainers. We also saw the unfinished cathedral and the house by Gaudi. They both cost 8 Euros to go in. One thing we would suggest is to take a map with you. We were given one on the coach and it was not very clear, we ended up getting lost! or maybe it was just our map reading skills...

The rep at the hotel when we went was Steve. He was the rep at another hotel as well as the Las Vegas. He was very friendly and like to chat to us for ages! Watch out for his Minnie mouse pen...

We both had a very good time at the Hotel Las Vegas and in Salou, and would definately go back in the future.

Arrived 19th July 2006 Hotel reception and rooms clean and tidy. Food crp bland and the same everyday, mostly catered for the Dutch Germans and French (not english) staff not very helpful at all, police and generally everybody does not understand you (or chose not to understand you) the surrounding areas stink of sewerage and are dirty (Blackpool with sunshine) tacky shops down every street and you will not get any sleep the walls are paper thin and you hear every thing in each room, the town does not sleep it is geared for the young who want to party all night so no sleep had for our stay. You are slap bang in the middle of it all at this hotel.

Rep useless unless you want to book trips with them was there for 10 days so her once and when asked if we could be moved was not interested.

Will never book a holiday again with portland and would not recommend this hotel if you want a quiet holiday to relax (the 2 girls and myself spent a week on the toilet and came back full of a cough.

Hotel Las Vagas was a lovely place to stay. it was quite posh with glass lifts and marble floors. I do think it suited older people more than younger people though. There is one main pool that does get quite busy but you will be glad to know that towels left on sunbeds are removed. so people CANT get up reserve their sunbed and go back to bed! the little pool around the back is lovely and quite but only has the sun on it till about 4. The only complaint I do have about the hotel is the food. they catered mainly for the Germans and Dutch but there was always chips, bread rolls and salad.

The resort Salou was really nice and i would visit again. The beach was very nice and again does get quite busy. one of the best bars to start the night in is 007 well worth going to and the bar next door called bus stop this is where most people start their night about 10.30pm. then towards the end of the night there is charlie chaplins, crocs (go downstairs in there) and the nightclub snoopys which is just across from crocs and at the back of Hotel Las Vagas. most places are free to get in and you will get free shots in most bars!

A trip to Barcelon is well worth it. it took about 2 and half hours on the bus and cost about 20euros for a return. people will try to sell you a tour but i recommend you explore yourself or you can always get on an open top bus that takes you to all of the main attractions.

I had a great holiday and would certainly go back to salou with first choice.

The hotel was very clean and tidy and the staff were all very pleasant and helpful at all times.

The rooms were spacious, light, airy and very clean. The cleaners came and cleaned daily and all towels and bedding were also changed daily.

We were on the 5th floor with an awesome sea view and loved sitting out on the balcony overlooking the sea.

All in all i cant fault the hotel apart from one thing the food....

I found the breakfasts brilliant as you had alot of choice of fruit, cereal and toast or a cooked breakfast. There was no limit as to the amount you could eat which i found nice.

The evening meals were a nightmare for me as i didnt like alot of the meats in or out of the floresant sauces..in my opinion the meats were not of the greatest of quality.

This was my only gripe though and my husband and son enjoyed the evening meals.

I would return to Salou and to the hotel as i feel all in all the value for money was amazing.

The beach at tarragona is beautiful and less busy than Salou as was La Pineda.

Aqualopolis was a great day out and the highlight of that for me was the dolfin show and having my picture taken with the sealions.

Port Aventurer was ok but not as good as Alton Towers or Disneyland Paris.

Barcelona is also well worth a visit and we highered a car which was great but the toll roads will not accept debit cards for some reason. The scenery travelling anywhere in Spain is beautiful though so the nightmare tolls dont seem to matter when the view is so good.....Almost feel like going back now...Doh!

the reception was very large and spotlessly clean and the staff friendly. The rooms were very clean and a nice size with option for using a small fridge which is a necessity when it is hot which it was even though it was April.

We all had a fantastic time and would recommend this resort and area to couples and families of all ages.

Just returned from six nights in Salou and really loved it. We stayed in the Las Vegas Hotel which I would recommend. The hotel is in a great location about 3 minutes walk to the beach and in the centre of Salou with plenty of restaurants and bars surrounding it.

The food in the hotel was quite variable some days it was nice and other days not so good but we got a good deal on the internet so could afford to eat out some days. The pools in the hotel are lovely and not very busy. My tip is to go to the little one round the side in the morning and on to the main one in the afternoon when the sun has moved round. There is also a nice pool for children down some steps from the main pool. The hotel was also very clean with a nice reception to sit in. The entainment was more geared towards the older generation but this did not really effect us as we tended to try different bars around town. Its worth listening to some of the acts in Charlie Chaplins if you can and visiting House of Illusions if you like magic.

Visited Port Aventura one day which was also very good. The bus goes directly there and costs about a pound. We also managed to obtain a two for one voucher for entry from a local bar which cut the cost.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The Hotel Las Vegas is a great place to stay. We were shocked when we arrived that it was only a 3-star accomodation. The public areas and rooms are spotlessly clean, maids cleaned the rooms and changed towels every day, bedding was changed every other day. The only negative things i would say about the hotel was that the food was boring, choice was limited and pretty much the same all the time, another thing was that we were woken nightly by people moving about, talking etc as the walls are so thin and the tiled floors mean that you can hear everything above and to the sides! The hotel's evening entertainment was very average but there are many bars in the resort to choose from, mainly English style pubs. Charlie Chaplins was good, with two acts on each night and games where you can win free shots, however, the drinks were really expensive here.

Aqualeon is well worth a visit, we went with the reps as it is quite difficult to get to. It is a waterpark and an animal park in one, you can take a safari bus to get close up to the lions, tigers and bears. Aquopolis in La Pineda was good too, they have a dolphin and sealion show and lots of waterslides, crazy golf, trampolining and for around 40 Euros you can swim with the sealions, however, the photos do cost 10 Euros each.

Costa Caribe waterpark and the Port Adventura theme park are a short bus ride away from Salou centre.

We spent a pleasant two weeks here although i will be going back to Majorca next time.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We stayed during the second week of the July fortnight, booking about a month in advance, staying on a half board basis.

Price each was £360 for 1 week.

Overall: Would not return to Salou, or the hotel.

Hotel: The hotel looks to be one of the better hotels in the area, with a feature waterfall outside and marble everywhere. The reception looks like a 4* hotel, and the whole hotel is spotless, with cleaner and maid service every day. However, the rooms are extremely noisy (you can hear everything above and beside you) and the air conditioning in the room is just about adequate (whereas in reception it was fantastic!). We hired a fridge for 25 euro which took 2 days to actually get to its peak coolness and a safety deposit box.

One of the major downfalls of the hotel was the food. As the hotel caters for mainly Spanish and German customers, the food reflects this in taste and style. However, this would be fine if it was good quality, but the meat was very poor quality, (sometimes Spam-like!) and anything like chicken or fish was battered or covered in sauces to hide how bad it actually was! It seemed there was a competition to see how many different types and colours of sauces could be used! At one point, there was a fluorescent pink concoction of salad and chicken! There are baskets of bread rolls every day but these were stale and didn't appear to change all week. Soups were equally disappointing, just bland liquids of different colours (one night it was pink). Saying that, the waitresses and Maitre D' are fantastic and very eager to please. Dessert was Ok too, but not a large selection as compared to other hotels.

The Bar was great, friendly staff.

Swimming pool facilities are good, but impossible to get sun loungers in any of the 2 pools and 1 kids pool from 9am- 5pm. After this time however, the pool at the back empties out (it is in shade at this time) and its easy to get a seat then. This pool is great as it has a separate jacuzzi and a long seat in the actual pool that has jacuzzi jets also.

Entertainment great for kids and older people.

Situated on a hill so could be difficult for some.

This hotel is great apart from the seriously bad food which means I would never stay here again - only on a room only basis if ever!

Salou: great for families but again as said in other reviews a bit tacky. It seems like everyone is out to rip you off. Beware of pickpockets in the evening and in early hours of morning (targeting late night drinkers). Beware of cheap drink as it really is just one step up from Meths, and can ruin the next day! I would just pay out for smirnoff or archers. Most bars are good, went to Shamrock irish bar which was good for football matches and their food was great too. Best restaurant, Uncle Sams - an american diner style, but beware, after 8pm be prepared to wait for over half an hour for a table as it has a great reputation!!!

Tip: take daytrips to Tarragona (3euro on bus and 20 minutes away. this has roman ruins and great shopping.

Barcelona is fantastic, I wish I had stayed there for the week! Took the train for 9 euro return. Once at the station, you can hop on the open top tourist buses but maybe having to wait for 4 buses until theres seats. There are 3 routes each lasting an hour, but one ticket at 18euro covers all routes and you just hop on /off whenever! Camp Nou and the Place de Catalunya is a must! The only thing was at the train station, the turnstyles didnt accept our tickets and trying to get help was impossible, just staff fobbing you off to another desk, someone said something about the ticket being issued in Salou and not being compatible?! but the guy couldn't really speak english to explain really.

Port aventura was great too.

On the whole, I would return to to Spain, there are places outside Salou which are beautiful, but I wouldn't go near Salou again, and maybe just go self catering if I did!

My/Our Holiday Review:

The hotel was nicely decorated and the room was spacious with a view of the pool and the beach-i would recommend to ask for a higher floor if poss. There was a selection of food on the night and if you don't like anything there is always chips. The hotel is in a ideal location as it is basically in the centre.

Would highly recommend going to Port Aventura - alot more selection of rides than Alton Towers. The new ride Hurakan Condor is brilliant. If you can afford it pay the extra 18 euros for a "golden express" ticket, this way you don't have to queue for any of the rides, although you can't use it on the new ride. It is also really good on the night as we went twice with plenty of restuarants-the Mexican is very nice. You hardly have to queue for the rides if you go at night and the rides are more exciting if you go on in the dark.

Aquopolis in La Pineda is really good, although not clearly marked so get off the bus on the beach front and you'll find it from there as we missed it and ended up in Tarragona! Its the biggest water park in Costa Dorado with about 10 slides. I would recommend going out on the night in Salou. The places i liked was Idols-with people on the karoake and Charlie Chaplins was my favourite.THey play a game where the Dj plays a song and you have to run up n guess it in order to win a shot - a cheap night if you're good at guessing songs. they also have acts on every night such as a drag queen,Kylie impersonater, a magican and a martial arts world champion. Children are welcome and they are often brought up on stage to take part.

House of Illusions is excellent where is get to see magic and free beer and sangria on tap all night - only for 20 euros.

Overall the holiday was excellent and i would recommend it to anyone to go there.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We travelled independently using low cost airlines and after 10 days in Majorca we then had another 5 days in Salou.

The resort itself wasn't really our thing (imagine Blackpool meets Brighton) however if you like that kind of thing you'll enjoy Salou.

The hotel was fabulous. The food was excellent and there was always plenty of choice. The staff were really helpful and friendly and the hotel itself was always spotlessly clean. We would reccommend this hotel to anyone. There is one bar which we would reccommend and that is Chaplins. Its just behind hotel Las Vegas on a side street and every night they have entertainment ranging from drag shows to tribute bands, easy distance to stagger home from!

The one thing we feel we must mention is the bus to Barcelona. we have been to Barcelona many times and choose Salou because the distance is communtable if you want to visit the city. The train station is at the far end of town so we decided to take the bus run by public transport. It was expensive (18.90 Euro's) compared to the train (10.20 Euro's)but was advertised as only taking 1 & 1/2 hours. This bus was a joke. It took us 3 hours because of the traffic so we only arrived in Barcelona at 12 midday. Also there was a 'guide' on the bus who spent the entire journey trying to sell people a tour once we got to Barcelona. As we had been many times we didn't want the tour but when we tried to ask other questions such as the bus return times she totally dismissed us (obviously working on commission!) What annoyed me though was that she was telling everyone that it was difficult to get around and therefore they should buy the tour. Utter rubbish, for anyone thinking of going, the metro system is easy, every major attraction has a metro station and you can buy a one day travel pass in any tube station for about 6 Euro's.

All in all Salou was ok, we probably won't go back. The bus incident really annoyed us, just another example of tourists being ripped off. However, if you are only reading this to gain an insight about the hotel, we could not fault it.

We would happily stay in this hotel again, maybe if it was moved to another resort though!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

We decided to write a review as we found there weren't many on the Las Vegas hotel Salou and anyone considering going there can believe that no news is good news. We felt the hotel was better than the 3 stars it was given.

Room

Our room was basic but very clean with lots of storage. There is a fridge which you can hire for 25 euros a week. There's also a safety deposit box you can hire for 16 euros a week, plus the bathroom has a hairdryer already in each room (no hire charge). There is air conditioning but we only found out on the last day you have to have the doors closed for it to work. There is also a dial in your room if you fancy a bit of music!

Bar

Plenty of seating with comfy sofas. strong air con. Very clean, friendly staff that do a great job.

Pool (3 different areas)

There is a main pool with a mini jacuzzi type pool next to it. Plenty of sunloungers but is quite shady in the morning. There is another pool round one side of the hotel which is smaller and quieter. Not as many sunloungers but plenty of sun, this was our favourite pool, also has a jacuzzi here. The last pool is near the gym but this pool was very shady. we think its the kids pool, there is a play area next to it.

Food

Good selection, we preferred dinner to breakfast as the selection was greater. Breakfast is served from 8am-9.45am which is a bit early for club goers. There are 2 sittings for dinner and you keep the same table throughout your stay. We were half board but got lunch on the last day, lunch was the same as dinner so maybe half board is better.

Resort

Salou is a great resort for people of all ages. Plenty of bars and clubs for those who enjoy a night out but would rather not go 18/30s. English people may enjoy the Rovers Return pub (don't drink the zombie cocktail unless you want to get drunk though!). Clubs- we recommend Kiss and Flashback. Don't go to Snoepys as they make you buy a drink before you can get into the main bit of the club and the drink consists of more ice than anything! (ice cubes the circumference of the glass!!)

Overall

Excellent hotel :)

Just returned from the Hotel Las Vegas, and had a very good time ,we booked this hotel a couple of weeks before.

Visited Salou 4 years ago and enjoyed it then ,enjoyed it more this time and me and my partner are coming back in October.

We found all the staff very helpfull and very polite ,especially the maitre de in the resteraunt.

The hotel was very clean ,rooms were cleaned daily.

The hotel has 3 pool areas which are all very nice, there is a gymn, but you rarely seen anyone in there.

I can not fault this hotel in anyway and we can`t wait to come back.

We enjoyed some good nights in the Titanic bar under the Royal Apartments [we had family staying there at same time] . Good entertainment, bingo and raffles etc, and staff were marvelous the titanic bar and hotel Las Vegas are a must for everyone .

My/Our Holiday Review:

I have just returned after a great week spent at this hotel with my wife and two of my three children aged 10 & 12.

I travelled independently flying into Barcelona. The journey to the hotel took 75 minutes on the A7 which is a easy journey. The hotel is very impressive and looks like its had a total revamp. All the public areas are spotless and well furnished. There are 3 pools in different locations around the hotel, well equipped gym, games room with internet access.

The restaurant is well run. Theres 2 sittings for your evening meal and you have a allocated table. The food was good with plent of choice. There was a Full English available every morning. The evening meal catered for all the different nationalities with about 20% of the hotel guests being British.

The entertainment was aimed at the older guests ie organist/ bingo/flamenco dancers. The local bars provide great entertainment so it wasnt a problem. Salou looks like its making efforts to try to attract the tourist back but it wasnt busy at this peak british holiday period. Barcelona is a must. Aqua-park is great but pricey. Port Adventura dont go at weekend (like i did) its poorly organised & long queue,s it doesnt compare with America. The only slight on the hotel was that i got a back room and 2 nightclubs didnt start until 12 - 7 am so i was woken a couple of nights.

The hotel was the best i saw in Salou. I paid £700 for the complete trip. 4 flights/ 2 hotel rooms half board/ and car hire

My/Our Holiday Review:

We have just returned from a one week family holiday in Salou. The resort itself is quite big, there are lots of restaurants and bars to choose from (English/Irish/Spanish/Dutch) and the food in the restaurants around the Los Angeles hotel served some of the best food I have had on holiday and at great prices (Granny's Kitchen, Chippies, American Diner, La Taglietelle).

The hotel however, lived up to its reputation (I read reviews after I booked the holiday!). The room was quite small for myself, husband and 3yr old son - however, it suited us fine - we weren't their to entertain, unlike our teenage Spanish and Dutch neighbours. We found ourselves having to ask these kids to keep the noise down, be considerate and stop slamming doors from 10 until 3/4am. At one stage I had to get the security guard as they were playing footie in their room at 5am! Reception staff were very good and very strict and we only had a couple of nights where this was a problem.

The food was ok, plenty of choice - freshly made burgers/hotdogs/lamb chops etc - and salad, fresh fruit and pasta. However we tended to eat out and try the local restaurants which were very reasonably priced.

We were 5mins walk from a smaller beach (not levante which was always mobbed!) which suited our needs just great but take care going down the stairs to get to it (you can also book to go on a big banana ride etc from here). If you prefer the pool then get down before 9.30/10am to get a bed as there aren't that many. The pool at building 1 is the most popular - some people didn't realise there was a pool at building 2 so that always seemed to be a little quieter. If your half board like us the prices of drinks etc are reasonable and don't break the bank. There is also access to the internet - which is great to keep a young child happy for 1/2 hour playing games on the cbeebies website. There were also a couple of pool tables.

Entertainment wise, we didn't really join in as our son tended to be asleep by 10pm, however there did seem to be a disco for children and some quizzes and your usual flamenco dancers etc - although day time activities were not the best to keep them entertained. We took our wee one to Idols across the road from the hotel as he could dance about whilst we had a couple of drinks before going to bed.

Just down from the hotel is the local Municiple Park which has some fair rides, trampolines (fantastic bungie trampolines which my son loved!)and a play park for toddlers and younger children. There is also a bar where the pensioners like to have a wee dance at night - its lovely to watch and you can also go a walk round the park.

All in all, I would go back to Salou but probably not to this hotel, walking around the resort you see much better hotels with more to offer for the whole family but if you are on a budget then sometimes you need to make the most of it and Los Angeles fitted the bill for those of us who can't always afford to go 4 or 5 star.

just got back from a one week holiday in hotel los angeles in salou,

we found the hotel really clean, great choice in food, rooms cleaned daily with clean towels given. The room we stayed in was really big divided into two rooms but some of the other rooms were quite small, air conditioning so after a hot day round the pool going into a cool room is great.around the resort we didnt find many entertainment bars for children to do so most of the time we stayed in the hotel for there entertainment which varied and we found enjoyable plus every night apart from thurs they have entertainment for the kids as well so all the kids were up dancing only thing we found off putting were the staff in the bar and reception they were really miserable not at all helpful at the end of the day if you dont like your job you get a new one.the staff in the restaurant were really friendly and helpful

over all i would go back to that hotel if it wasnt in salou ,didnt rate salou much just not my cup of tea cant say anything bad about it thou so if your going over enjoy yourself

My/Our Holiday Review:

After reading the reviews we didn't really know what to expect! However we were pleasantly suprised the room was basic but clean and we had a large balcony. The maids came everday to do the beds or change the towels. We were on the 6th floor and at the front of the hotel. Do not stay here if you want to get to sleep before 5am, as we can normally sleep through anything but there is a karoke bar called IDOLS right opposite the hotel and it is VERY LOUD and we went in MAY and stopped out pretty late.

The reception staff were quite helpful but were the only staff who spoke any English in the hotel. This proved quite a problem at meal times as one of our party had a gluten/wheat intolerance and the Thomas Cook rep was absolutely useless. The hotel has internet facilities 1 euro for 10mins, so we used this to get the spanish word for wheat, which is trigo. The hotel manager in the dining room was then very helpful, I think he appreciated our efforts and welcomed us after this.

The food was okay a bit repetative and not always hot. This hotel seem to have got a good deal on pork this summer as it was there every day without fail. However the best food is cooked fresh in front of you at the back of the hotel so it's best to go there. Good selection of drinks at breakfast time, other meals you have to pay extra unless all inclusive.

But do beware when booking this hotel as Thomas Cook advertise two options half board and full board plus (all inclusive) and we booked the full board plus and on arrival at the hotel were told we were only on full board. The rep was a waste of space and never sorted this out for us, making the holiday cost a lot more than expected. Don't trust him, he doesn't tell the truth!

The hotel has too pools quite small but okay at this time of year, could prove quite busy in high season. Lots of Spanish use this hotel but they were friendly. Bar in the hotel quite cheap and bar staff were okay.

The trips are so much cheaper if you book elsewhere in the resort, the reps prices were double! We went to Barcelona and is is TOP! Paid 18.90 euros for shopping and fountains when the rep wanted 38.90!

Salou itself is a nice resort, the beach is excellent, white, soft sand and lovely blue seas. Plenty of local shops and restaurants. We found a lovely Spanish restaurant that was a Steak House not far from the hotel. Bomerrang is also nice for English food and the staff and really friendly. Charlie Chaplins was our fav bar with cheesy pop. Snoepys is quite good as far as nightclubs go!

Weather was good for this time of year reaching 29 degrees. Can imagine this resort to be pretty lively in high season. We would go back but not to this hotel and not with Thomas Cook.

this hotel is in a great place to get around salou not far from both main beaches, shops, supermarkets and bars.

The rooms are very clean the maids came every day. we had a room with 4 single beds and balcony facing the main pool and bar area, this is where the entertainment takes place on night so if you think you'll want to get to bed early you might want to ask for a room on the other side of the hotel. we only had one bad night and that was the nightclub over the road(idols) not the hotel. The bar staff are not very happy but we don't all like our jobs sometimes! the reception staff where helpful.

the food was good at breakfast 3 cereals, yogurts, fruit, croissants, bread and cooked breakfast. the chef cooks you fried eggs and pancakes while you wait.there is a toast machine and a hot drinks machine if you prefer tea or hot chocolate, they serve you coffee.tea time i wasn't so keen on there was always choice but nothing i liked much but maybe i'm to fussy! but the desserts were always great.the staff were happy and friendly.

the hotel could do with a bigger pool and more sunbeds and the pool area was clean. there is an entertainer who played waterpolo etc with the kids.the bar staff ask the kids to put the shoes when they come to the bar area which is a good idea as my 7 year old cut his foot at the pool table.

we went to barcelona on the train which works out loads cheaper than with the reps or the buses that run from the resort

we got a taxi to the train station (about 6 euros) the train was 31 euros return for 2 adults and 2 kids. we went to the nou camp which was 10 euros adults 8 euros for kids, an amazing place!

we paid for a weeks tickets for port aventura but it was too hot to go during day and it shut at 8 o clock at night in june so we felt we didn't get our moneys worth, also be prepared to q as we waited for an hour and a half for some of the rides so make sure you have a drink with you!

Arrived at 10am room wasn't ready until 12, which wasn't a problem as we went for a walk around the area. Been to salou many times before so we knew the area. The staff on the reception desk were always polite and helpful

Room had 2 double beds facing the pool and the road. Room was basic but clean. The walls are paper thin and you can hear other peoples conversations. Only one electrical socket in the room, but there is another one in the bathroom.

Pool area was fine not many sunbeds but we always managed to find one. Two pools small childrens pool and a larger one.

Restaurant we found was very dissapointing. The only food we found was hot was the soup. Everything else was lukewarm. Lots of variety not much for children apart from chips (which were cold).

Can't comment on the entertainment as we went out most nights. Irish bar across the road from the hotel was good, and charlie chaplins was good for children.

Bar in the hotel was very slow service, most times only one person on, and if he was in the back cooking snacks you would have to wait until he came back.

Had a lovely holiday, but we do love salou anyway. Would not go to this hotel again, it could probably do with being updating.

we booked this holiday online and explained the ages of our children my son is 15 and my daughter is 7. when we arrived at the hotel at 00.30 the minute we stepped off the bus there was a strong smell of sewage (urine). we arrived in our room to find 4 single beds crambed into one small bedroom, one small wardrope, my son was so embaressed by having to share a room with myself and my daughter.

when we looked from our small balcony 4 high right opposite us was a concrete jungle of private appartments below them were all karoke bars that were open until 4am. I compalined to my rep in the morning and told him to get us out of here or a flight home i was willing to pay as much money to get out of there.

Breakfast well you get your sauages and bacon etc then stand and wait at another grill for a fried egg then stand and make your own toast. I cannot thank nicky enough the manger for thomas cook for moving us to the vancover apts in cap salou that night, this was fantastic apts we then enjoyed our two week holiday. Also the swimming pool that is advertised is not the pool at the hotel, also this is 2* plus not 3 as it states.

The pool was on the small side but there was no trouble getting sun beds in the morning. The entertainment was also good we would recommend that you visit the House of Illusion for an excellent night out.

we stayed at the los angeles hotel part of the best hotel chain.

we were all inclusive

the hotel was clean but during the 8 night stay our beds made only once.only allowed 3 towels despite 4 in a room.

the food was excellent and the service in restaurant excellent.

all let down by ignorant bar staff barring 1 young one called david.

ignored for up to 10 minutes at the bar and when served given wrong drinks or told you cant order 2 drinks at a time.if you want vodka and orange juice thats 2 drinks!!!!

given that all the snacks coffees and drinks centered around this one cafeteria area it was appaling service.

very rare did they even raise a smile let alone any friendly remarks or gestures.

the guests were patient yet they they would prefer to do anything other than serve their guests.

the pool attendant on the downstairs pool is to be regarded with caution because if you have children he shouts and chastises them for any little thing even manhandling one of our party.

i reported this to the manager and he said he would deal with it.yet 2 days later this guy was there again shouting at someones child for jumping in!!!!!

if you have children dont go to this hotel and if you like more than one drink a night dont bother either.

the entertainment was poor and i overheard the guy who does the entertainment complaining cos they wont let him organise anything that costs any money.he had to improvise with quizzes bingo every night!!!

ive been going all inclusive for 4 years and this is the worst hotel ive ever stayed in.

do yourself a favour avoid it.

im far from fussy and i dont expect people to fall over themselves but my holiday was spoilt by the majority of staff.

i did fill in a questionairre about the hotel after 5 days and i put down my grievances but nothing changed.

sleepless nights in salou! we were told that this hotel would be in a quiet location.......what a load of rubbish! there was a row of nightclubs across the road which played music until like 4 o'clock in the morning(which the younger ones didnt mind!)

lets just say it was like living i faulty towers! the lifts didn work, and walking up and down the stairs when you are 16 stone is not the easiest thing in the world! the room was like a little box, which had 4 beds (some broken), a bathroom, and a television that was in spanish! the other guests in rooms next to us were complete idiots. first of all there was the spanish lady. her bath was leaking and it was coming through our ceiling and when we tried to tell her she wouldnt open her door and was speaking to us in spanish! that helped! then on both sides of our room we had young spanish lads, they kept putting thier heads round our balcony and shouting.

the food was terrible, so bad that we went and ate out practically every night. breakfats was from 8 - 10 which the teenagers missed every morning because they were sleeping.the hotel generally did NOT provide for the english tourists very much. and out hotel rooms were not cleaned as much as they were supoosed to be. well their idea of clenaing is giving you some toilet roll!

the staff were not very helpfull, i dont know........maybe speaking a bit of english might have helped! the only time we every saw our rep was when she wanted to sell us excersions.....which might i add was kr*p. we went to "aqua safari". we were told there would be all the animals from A-Z there, when there was like a lion and a monkey and thats about it.

the one good thing i can say is about the beach. the beach was really good, the water was warm and the sand was nice. we aslo liked shanklys, and the younger ones liked de swing, madison, kiss and snoepys. we also liked mcdonalds! which was like a mission away!

reus airport has go to be the worst airport in history! its like a cow shed! there is about 4 check in desks, one shop(that was closed), a shabby, dutty and just plain nasty seating area with cups and plates that looked like they ahd been there for a month, and not enough seats so everyone had to sit on the floor. when we were checking in we recieved the worst infromaion - OUR FLIGHT HAD BEEN DELAYED! when we were told we could boeard we had to walk to the plane which seemed to take for ages. when we got on the plaine we were seated by the fire exit doors, not excatly a smart move for someone who is scared of flying! it was lound and noisy and the food was mingin.

food in the hotel was very good..not much choice for the kids..very,very noisy about 4 am...hotel is right in the middle of salou..resort is a bit pricey...good sports shop just around the corner, oppositr shanky`s pub....he`s prepared to haggle, not like the shops on the main street.first choice rep is hard to track down unless u want to book a trip..use the train 2 go 2 barcelona..only 10 euros return.we spent 4 days at universal studios..excellent value 4 money, buy yuor tickets at home,it`s cheaper..

go to charlie chaplins..turn right at hotel entrance,it`s 50 yards up the street...excellent shows, get in about 9 pm for your chance on the name that tume and win loads n loads of drinks..

the hotel has a happy hour from 8.30pm till 10pm.wait tilll about 8.40pm as the bar staff have to wait for the manager to alter the tills,he`s usually 10 minutes late and still have to pay full wack for ya drinks.4 pools all are a little small, but the beach is just round the corner, get there early it gets choka block about 10.30 am..don`t use the road train,it`s expensive...use the buses

would definetely go back !!!!!!

a good resort with plenty for the whole familly to do. pre booked tickets to portaventura were an excellent buy. hotel was very freindly, very clean, good selection of food of an excellent quality. two average pools plus a small pool for little ones, nice hot tub as well. no noise from bars oposite even though we looked right at them. air coned rooms which were cleaned every day by very helpful and pleasant staff. entertainment in the hotel was average, but the options in salou more than compensated.

beaches very busy, too many cig butts. port aventura and costa caribie were excellent. public transport good in that busses ran late at night and often, downside no good for anyone who was clostrophobic. been two years running same hotel and booked again for this year, same hotel can't wait. cafe bar and trad chip shop round the corner were also excellent.

My/Our Holiday Review:

i read reviews on this website before i went and i was worried and most of it seemed to be true. The hotel was built in the 70s and doesnt really look as though the rooms have been touched since then they are clean but old fashioned .

The 2 swimming pools are tiny for the amount of guests that the hotel takes .The food was quite nice but a lot of the guests are spanish and dont believe in queing and will push in front of you!

ONEvery important word of warning if you like to get to sleep before 6 in the morning i certainly wouldnt stay here there is a bar directly across the road which is very noisy and doesnt shut till then and the people leaving are very noisy too.The rep wasnt very helpful we needed to get a flight home in the first week of our holiday as my husband had to attend a funeral in the uk he ended up wasting a day of his holiday travelling to Barcelona to book a flight from there as the rep said dunno about every question we were asking her to try to organise it on the internet so a Thompson rep at least helped us and gave my us a train timetable.

The beach is full of fag stumps and you are like sardines on there so even in early sept it is like that so i cant even think what it is like in july. All in all i wouldnt visit Salou again it is very tatty except fot the promenade which is lovely. If you are going to Spain go to Majorca where we have been loads of times but fancied a change .Ihave booked to go to Lanzarote in January with Thompson so hopefully it will be lovely and yes i have checked the reviews and they are all good.

High light of the holiday going to watch Barcelona play at the Nou camp and coming home for a sleep!Icould go on even more but i think you have read enough just take my advice i am not a fussy holiday maker and i believe you get whayt you pay for not in this case definately not .

after reading reviews we were terrified.slight problems on arrival but tour operators fault not hotels. staff were extremely helpfull and pleasent. eventually got rooms sorted.hotel picture(in brochure) does no justice.hotel was clean,, food was excellent, always a good choice even for kids/and as you can see we had plenty with us.

entertainment was good fun, we missed the first weeks.but stayed in most of the second.a must is hollywoods bar .staff were really friendly and food was brilliant and plentyfull.also a must is the park round the corner we stayed there till 3 in the morning great fun for all ages.a dont do is the beach boat they try to rip you off and kids hated it.

book with any other tour operator with confidence and we can assure you a holiday of a lifetime we would definatly book again to same hotel.

My/Our Holiday Review:

In spite of reading a number of appaling reviews of this hotel I found it to be more than satisfactory.

The rooms were basic but comfortable and clean, all air conditioned.Daily maid service, fresh towels daily, fresh linen as required. There appears to be 2 wings to the hotel, one mainly for young singles the other used for familys.

The quality and selection of food provided was excellent and served by helpfull and friendly staff, although flies could be a problem in the restaurant. Neither ourselves or anyone we met had sickness and or diahorrea caused by the food, we drank only bottled water to be on the safe side. The noise from the bars directly across from the hotel was not excessive as some have reported and could be eliminated completely by closing the double glazed balcony doors, we were on the first floor above the pool and found it very quiet.

Reus airport ? more like Reus Circus! Be prepared for long queues both arriving and leaving, hot and uncomfortable, no air conditioning in the terminal.

Avoid any of the excursions organised by the holiday reps as they are too expensive for what they offer and can be organised yourself. The only exception is the day trip to Barcelona which includes the football stadium, shopping and a long visit to the Zoo. Especially avoid the Sunseeker Cruise, the reps sell it as a day trip whereas in reality it involves a 1 hour boat trip out ,45 minutes snorkling in water that resembles pea soup followed by a 1 hour trip back.

Too many small shops to mention, although we probably were in them all, twice!

Port Aventura was outstanding, it needs at least 4 days to cover, if not more. Be warned however that the queues can be extremely long 30 minutes or more when we went, end of July - start of august. I would recommend buying an express pass which allows you to go to the front of all the queues.

Try the Clan/Madison bar across from the hotel which serve alchohol free kids cocktails, and now also snakebite.

read comments on this website about Hotel Los Angeles and panicked!

but when we got there, everything was fine. rooms were clean, staff were friendly, food was quite good although they didnt cater for the younger eaters.there were some pubs across the road which tended to be noisy but didnt put us off our sleep although if you had younger children this may be a problem.

champions pub was a great place to eat.

overall, we would certainly return!

My/Our Holiday Review:

We were the first holiday makers to arrive for the season and the Hotel wasn't quite ready for us. The first morning for breakfast, the cereal was soft and there was no tea making facilities and the toast machine was broken!

We found that things could only get worse, the food was disgusting and it was always freezing. I did complaint to the Thomas Cook rep about the food but I didn't see any improvement.

We were only there for 1 week and it did spoil the holiday slightly.

When the toast machine was eventually fixed, on the second morning that it was working they ran out of bread and they didn't go and buy any!!! The tea machine was never working all the time that we were there. But there was plenty of microwaves to heat your food in???

I thought the resort was good for families and there was plenty for the kids to do.

We would recommend The English Chip shop that is round the corner from the Hotel, it was great and the kids meals were good as well.

We also used the local buses to get about and they were a great way to see the sites.

If you are looking for family entertaiment at night I would also recommemd Gabbers Pub. It has entertaiment for the kids as well as the adults, they also do children's cocktails, which went down a treat with my son.

I would go back to Salou but I would never use this Hotel again.

For a start the hotel was like a prison with a 2 poor exuses for pool's. the food wasnt bad ill give them that but other wise it was a s**t tip. we were last drop off were they left us out side ( i say out side its more like a up hill walk to out side the hotel because we were left at the end of the street!) once we got inside it LOOK'D clean but next we were shown our cell's sory ROOM's as they called them which was a hovel to say the least, the bath was full of dirt and other peoples scum.

the hotel its self was position'd in a execelnt place slap bang in the heart of the main bars and resturnts with the best bar ever just over the road, Charlie Chaplens who ever friday night have a execelnt hypnotist and many other acts. when we complaind to are reps about are rooms we were told the tale of ever othere air tours hotel being full so we were stuck and they were oh so sorry really they were-nt the childerns play area was a death trap the recipcionists were ignorent the entertament was poorer than poor and i advise you now please do not stay at this hotel use the santa monica playa next door which isnt a Best hotles hotel (which dont live up to there name) it is a very modern and clean hotel which has all the ups of its position and the nice hotel it's self. thank you

we stayed in 2 bedroom apt on 6th floor overlooking pool, the room was good size and clean and modern enough, air con was just adequate for june but think it would struggle to cool whole apt come july/aug.We do n,t do cooking on holiday but looking at facilities think we,d have struggled (no kettle,no toaster etc).

Only 4 hand towels provided & along with bed linen renewed after 1 week by being left at door, no maids entered apt for 2 weeks!Location wise you,re 5 minute stroll to beach/town centre,20 min walk Portaventura, however this comes at a price, outside is a VERY BUSY dual carriageway which is constant 24/7 NOISE even with windows shut, must be main road to hospital ,sirens wailing all day/night.The public areas in these apts are to be blunt absolutely MINGING, the whole exterior including landings, lifts, stairwells, pool area(pay for sunbeds)needs a lick of paint & a big clean up its FILTHY ! and resembles a run down block of council flats.

Salou itself was typical of what you,d find in most established Spanish resorts, lots of british bars serving the usual fayre, would reccomend food at Brown Cow & Fox n Hounds in los pesces complex.007bar on main drag was descent bar with entertainment every night also Piccadilly bar in street behind was good for our 2 teens with its internet access, would also recommend The Thistle& rose-the locals local situated in same street as piccadilly very, very friendly pub run by Ed & Carol. The beach was nice, clean, flat safe.Visited Portaventura wasn,t really impressed,2hr queues on big rides would hate to go in high season, not patch on Disney,1 day pass was enough to see it all could n,t have gone again.

Overall it was pretty much below average accomadation and the resort was slightly better.

Just back from holiday in Salou went for 2 weeks had a great time, apartments were lovely and as it was only the 2 of us we had loads of space. Air-conditioning was free but it made a constant noise which you ment couldnt leave on at night, I complained but nobody came to check it out. I found out from another guest that there's was the same. Nice pool in the apartments, has crazy golf also.

Beach was 2 minute walk, lovely and sandy and water was warm. There's plenty of resturants, pubs and clubs. Took us a few days to find the clubs ask in the bars they'll tell you the best ones.

Portaventura was good although there was long queues its best to go in the afternoon. The water park in portaventura wasn't the best, you had to pay for a ring for the slides which ment carrying it around with you. The other water park Aquapolis was ok, had to pay for the rings here also, they had a good dolphin and seal show. The barcelona trip was very good.

We went to Salou out of season and new not much would be open. We took the kids to the local pool, which is spotless and found a few bars open , the double dutch is just across the road from los peces and it is really welcoming.

The only problem we had was that the reception was closed for the winter and getting the keys was a bit of a hassle but after a phonecall from a local, keys were forthcoming. The outside of the apts were not very inviting but once inside we were very pleased 2 good sized beds and lots of storage space.

We went on the train to Barcelona for a day trip and took the kids to the Nou Camp, Barcelona is just over an hour away by train and the fare was about £30 for us all, the Nou Camp is a must for all football addicts - its amazing.

Would definetely go back to the los peces, hopefully next time the pool will be open

My/Our Holiday Review:

We've just returned from Salou, where we stayed in Los Peces Apartments. The resort is fantastic for families, with Port Aventura, Costa Caribe and Aquapolis there is plenty to keep the kids amused.

The apartments have 6 floors, with 100 rooms per floor. I requested the third floor when i booked in January but we were put on the sixth floor between two rooms full of teenagers. We had very little sleep as our neighbours partied all night every night. At the weekend, there where three outdoor karaokes going on in the hotels opposite this was very noisy, but finished at 1 am.

The Apartment itself had two twin rooms and a pullout bed in the living room. The kitchen had a hob and microwave with grill but no grillpan. We were surprised to find no kettle and went to reception (which is around the corner of the street) were we were told you had to hire the kettle at a cost of 12 Euros a week and a toaster was 16 Euros. i have never come across the like of this. We ended up boiling our water in saucepans. Take towels with you as they only provide hand towels.A safety deposit box is 36 euro a week.

The pool is freeform going from shallow to deep with a tiny area for toddlers. It closed at 8 pm. There are four pooltables , a table tennis table and arcade games around the pool plus an area for pitch and putt. These plus the bar and snack bar stay open till late.

The resort is brilliant and the apartments are central to everything, with the beach 3 mins away, a supermarket next door, portaventura is a short tram or bus ride away. Don't walk to it as we were told it was 20 mins away more like 1 Hr 20 mins and when you get there you walk for hours. We went at 12 noon and stayed till 12 midnight.I had bought a 7 day ticket, but 2 days was plenty with 1 day in Costa Caribe which you book when in Port Aventura. My kids loved Aquapolis, Which is in La Pineda, 20 mins on a bus at 1.50 euro per person. The water park is fantastic catering for all ages. There was a Seal and Dolphin show and photos can be taken with the seals. The kids had got free admission tickets in their kids meal at McDonalds which saved us 42 euros so its worth going to McDonalds before visiting Aquapolis.

All the shops, restaurants and bars are on your doorstep, we found the Lazy Wave good value for eating and at night , the Irish bar Danny Boy was great. Staff are friendly and great live music. Say Hi, to Gillian from Warrenpoint who works there.

We had two thunder storms in 1 week, but it added to the experience as we had to wade through flooded streets with water up to our knees. I would definitely go back to Salou, but would go to different apartments that cater solely for families, just so we can get some sleep. If you have no kids with you these apartments would be fine.

We booked this apartment online it was very cheap so we were expecting very little, but it was very good.

The apartment was very nice and clean. It had a tv and microwave/oven. We had a nice balcony over looking the pool area. The pool was clean. Next to the pool you could play snooker, table tennis, table football and mini golf, these were all open till very late. The only downside was that the pool closed at 7pm. The snack bar opened late and had sandwiches, ice cream, popcorn machine, drinks and beer. There was also a supermarket right next door.

We were near everything, 3 mins walk to beach, 20 mins walk to theme park and water park, 3 mins to market stalls. We liked a resturant near the apartments called Robin Hood. The negative things about our stay were= Reception was hard to find it looks like a bureau exchange, the hotel next door did have a loud karaoke till about 1am I used ear plugs first few nights.Pool shut early.

We would go back there, kids loved it.

After reading some negative things about Salou we didn't know what to expect but it was a great family holiday place it was clean, and had plenty to do and I would recommend the hotel and resort to anyone with children. The hotel itself was very clean and the food was all fresh and plenty of it - usual buffet stuff but something for everyone. The hotel was a bit too quiet at nights for our girls but we liked it that way, if you want lively there's lots of places nearby but out of earshot to spend your evenings! Lots of nice eating places in Salou if you fancy a change from the hotel food too.

The theme park Port Aventura was brilliant and several days could be spent there if you want to buy a weeks pass (around £47 ) well worth it if you are into the rides!!

This site could be mistaking for having a moan about how "the food, the rooms etc" are poor.

This was not the case for this hotel, we have stayed at this resort a few times and we knew this hotel was located near the coved beach, which is ideal as we had 2 infants.

The hotel, food and rooms are fine. We were there during the world cup and the banter between the few different nationalities was good fun, including the bar staff.

The only minus, if you can call it that, was the lack of manners from the older generation of none UK residents. But that was just one of those things, it could happen anywhere.

All in all you will be pleased with this hotel as it is ideally located for the local bars and beach and the rooms were really clean.

hope this helps.

My/Our Holiday Review:

My partner & I visited this hotel H10, of 15 September for a week, on a half board basis the tour operator was JMC Thomas Cook. There were a couple of wheelchair users at the hotel. However, the hotel is located up a small incline, which then rises very steeply to the top of a hill. On the plus side both the indoor and outdoor swimming pools have an electric hoist into the water.

On the minus side, and there are many:

1. The steps/ramp at the entrance get wet from the water of the fountain along side them.

2. The water then runs down through the outside 'lounge' area, and onto the pavement, which you have to use to get to the entrance of the hotel.

3. The rooms are 'compact'.

4. Though it is classed as a 3* hotel, room service is not available, there is no fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, iron, hair dryer in the room. One sachet of shower gel per person is provided but only on the day of arrival.

5. Drinks have to be paid for - signing is not allowed.

6. The food was repetitive, and unimaginative. E.g., one evening for dinner, hot ham was available. The following day diced ham (obviously from the previous day) had been included into, the peas, the soup, the cauliflower mornay, the pasta dish. GOT THE PICTURE YET!

7. The choice of food for vegetarian is from -1

8. Each day the dinner desert was, One cake, jelly, blamounge, rice pudding, caramel, fruit, or ice cream.

9. The lounge was small, as was the bar area where the evening show took place.

10. The advertised daily entertainment was not operating. the reason being from 15 September it is "out of season now".

Perhaps the best thing about the hotel was the door leading out!

The reception staff were helpfull.

My/Our Holiday Review:

When booking we were not informed we would be having over 250 noisy children moving into the rooms all around us. As we have a 7 year old daughter she was unable to sleep due to the noise. We were forced to move rooms so we could stand a small chance of getting some sleep. Next day, more children arrived and were yet again placed in rooms around families with young children. The children were allowed to run riot, they were throwing plastic chairs over the balconies, trying to get into other guests rooms, scaring the elderly guests, shouting, banging etc etc. When the manager was confronted by several angry guests we were informed it was our own fault for booking during the childrens holiday period. As our operator didn't inform us of this when we booked I don't see how we were to know! The staff were rude and very huffy when they were asked to assist with anything.

The rooms are shoe box sized and extremely basic to say the least. The food was ok but lacked flavour and the selection was more or less the same every day. We couldn't use one of our draws as a previous guest had set fire to the bottom of it and the sooty remains were still sitting there. Away from the hotel we all had a fantastic family holiday.

I would not recommend this hotel to anybody and how it recieved it 3* rating is beyond me! Most of the facilites were closed, the park isn't part of the hotel as was described, the general repair of the building was below standard and the walls are paper thin so privacy isn't guaranteed.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Cannot express how good this hotel was for the price we paid,

we booked flights with Ryanair and hotel separately. We normally go All Inclusive but this time as we knew we would be spending several days at Port Aventura thought full board would be better for us, in fact were only at the hotel for lunch 3 days out of 7.

The hotel is so clean and the food was excellent, plenty of choice, each night a different theme in the restaurant and even with a picky 10 year old we did ok. Usually find the desserts in Spanish hotels not so good but here couldn't complain loads of choice and all good. Would definitely recommend this hotel and go back again. Also the hotel itself has happy hour 4.30 till 5.30 and the apartments across the road do 8.30 to 9.30.

Entertainment is ok but must admit aimed at the Spanish guests, there was a show on Sunday evening can't remember what it's called but that was brilliant. Good location about 5 minute walk to small beach but the bigger beach which is great was about minutes away, a mini train runs around the resort and you could always catch this if you don't feel like the walk. Port Aventura is a must but definitely take more than one day to get on all the rides, we found sunday was the quietest day to go with shorter queues, also at tea-time it seems to quieten off a bit, go on tutuki splash early in the day as you get soaked and at least you'll dry off then. Did Costa Caribe Water Park and that was good, just can work out more expensive as to ensure you get a ring for lazy river you end up hiring one at 5euros and further 3 deposit, also lockers are 4 euros and further 3 deposit, sign says sunbeds 4 euros too but we didn't get charged so if you go be prepared for the extras. Salou itself not the cleanest of spanish resorts we've visited but was ok.

Can say if we went again would definitely stay at the Marinada again, lots of friends made by our little girl and the first time she'd cried when leaving a holiday.

The hotel was spotless, there was a team of cleaners every morning sweeping and scrubbing the whole pool area every morning, a pool cleaner cleaning the bottom of the pool everyday, rooms cleaned everyday, new linen evryday, friendly staff, entertainment was good, the childrens entertainer great bloke. Salou it's self, was very clean, beaches were lovely, take a walk towards Cap Salou, you'll find some small but perfect beches to chill, plenty for all age groups,

definately will be going back, would'nt mind living there.

Arrived for a weeks break with the family - First opinion, cleanish, no hassle - friendly - result! Rooms very small however.

Until last day before going home - Mobile phone stolen from the room out of my daughters bag -

No forced entry - nothing else touched - just the LG Shine Mobile!

I knew immediatley it was the cleaner - this is because the young maid cleaned our room at 9:30am, then came back 2 hours later and knocked on and walked in straight away - when I challenged her she said bla bla bla - I suppose really to say sorry in Spanish, I hadnt realised it was already cleaned - yes the same girl.

Well thats her blag - had we not been in then she would of took it then - we went out and returned 3 hours later - and guess what - robbed! Told the lovely girls on reception - guess what - they was not so nice anymore -why? because she said nothing ever happens like this in the Marinada - and she says "have you checked your bag" What a disgrace! The following morning I challenged cleaner and said you have had my mobile and she squirmed and went a funny colour! Could not prove out - glad to get home from this dump.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Just come back from salou.Very disappointed at the cleanliness of the resort it was very dirty although they cleaned the paths ect every day i felt they was wasteing their time as it didnt look any different when they had finished.

Our room was a decent size and cleaned every day with fresh towels although the beds didnt get changed in the 2 weeks we were there. The entertainment in the apartments was not bad more then I can say for the hotels entertainment ( this was ok if you was spanish) they did not cater for the English at all.

When we first arrived it was about 10am and my son of 13 was talking and laughing in the corridor as we was going into our room and he was told to be quiet by the cleaners (DONT THEY REALISE PEOPLE ARE ON HOLIDAY)it wasnt late at night & he wasnt very loud.

The staff in both apartments and the hotel were very ignorant towards the English We didnt feel Welcome at all, this is the same in some of the shops as well.

The Beaches were nice but very busy, the banana boat was only 6 euros per person and well worth it. Try out the cocktails on the front near the beach their fantastic especially the ferrari.

PORTAVENTURA is a must although we only went 4 times out of the 7 some scary rides in there.

The best day out we had and well worth the money was the JEEP SAFARI it cost us 41e each and would recommend it to any one.

The average price for meals were around 5e - 8e

We would never go back to salou due to the unfriendly people & the dirtyness of the resort.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

A great hotel with lots of added bonuses i.e. indoor swimming pool, small gym, sauna, internet, games room, crazy golf and children's play area. The rooms are spacious and clean with everything you could possibly need.

The staff are friendly enough although we didn't actually need to deal with them on many occasions. The entertainment well I can't really comment as we never watched a single show in the hotel (because everything only started at such a late time)if like us you need to be entertained as soon as you sit down, I would advise you to walk out into the town. The food is good with great variety and each day brought a different theme i.e. Mexican, Fish Dishes etc.

This hotel serves a great deal of spanish couples and families as a English couple we felt singled out. I think there must have been 3 English couples in total in the hotel.

The pool is small but clean although again we only went in it once, due to the fact that the hotel has trees surrounding it which shade the pool and loungers giving very little sunshine and feeling quiet cool.(my idea of a good holiday is getting a good tan)

Salou is still a great place to visit although there are LOADS of youngsters giving out leaflets for pubs and clubs. This does get to you around the 3rd day, as you have seen the same leaflets and cards thousands of times!!!!!

The beaches are beautiful the weather is good (although it did rain for 2 days and I mean rain) it didn't spoil our holiday and Port Aventura is well worth a visit. I would definetely visit Salou again and I would say if you have booked this hotel don't worry if like me you use your hotel to sleep and change you will be fine. It is spotless and a very well kept hotel especially for 3 stars. This really is one of the best hotels is Salou for its standards compared to some of the other hotels.

Overall a great holiday a very good hotel and lots of fun!!!!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

Hotel: I would definately reccommend this hotel (and apartments). I guess the apartments can be noisy because they do have entertainment on each evening, but it stops at 12 midnight. The accommodation at both has everything you want; clean, air con, excellent choice at meal times (you won't go hungry!, lovely waitresses. In my opinion, it's very impressive but sometimes the glass lifts get stuck - ask for a low floor!. The sunbeds were available from 9am and the usual did happen where towels were put on and then left all day because the pool was quite shaded from the sun what with the palm trees etc but you will realise where to find 'your spot'!!

Resort: I would say it's situated in exactly the right part of salou - it's not near the really busy roads and roundabouts etc (about 3/4hr walk away.) but you are still in the hustle and bustle with lots of soveneir shops and family friendly bars. The bars we found were Champions at the top of the street (for little ones - with a clown and 'holiday' songs) - The Funky Monkey - in the next street with playstation, pool, karaoke, free shots for adults and non alcoholic ones for kids! (Hi Tony and Paul) Sinatras (up the bank from the small market) for a good compere (Gary), bingo and 2 acts per night. Idols, for your football!!. There were others we were trying to find Rovers Return and Charlie Chaplins which have been recommended but we never found them.

The beach and promenade is about 1/2 hr away.

Trips: we are independant travellers so we made it to Portaventura by getting the tourist bus/train thing just around the corner - opposite the Oasis hotel on the main street. Aquapolis (in La Pineda) by getting a bus outside the Oasis Hotel (get off the second stop when you hit la pineda beach). We did do Barcelona on the train and metro which was quite daunting but bearable and it would have been even better if we had checked that the Nou Camp was open before we went (it was closed due to a bank holiday)!!!!! Never mind we will visit it next time we go.

All the trips we done were well worth the effort

Overall: If you can do this independantly you will save a fortune. The trains (Buy ticket only once - Just ask for a return ticket to Salou - total cost about 30 euro for 2 adults and 2 children)and metro transfers are fine except it is about a total of 2 1/2 hr journey from Barcelona airport (Reus airport is nearer). At Salou station just jump in a taxi to take you to your hotel.

We met some really lovely, friendly people (and we are keeping in touch!!) I would definately go back to this hotel and resort again. Had a Brill Holiday

First of all the resort of Salou is absolutely fantastic for anyone, we only stayed here 3 nights as a taster and really expected Blackpool in the sun but its nothing like that at all. Salou is very clean and pretty with fabulous beaches and restaurants, and evening entertainment to suit anyone. Whether your looking to party till all hours in nightclubs or a quiet drink after your meal, or karaoke for the family, Salou has it all. Hundreds of shops down a mile long street which is great for CHEAP souvenirs / clothes (yes i did say CHEAP and yes i am talking about Spain).

Hotel: -

As always in mainland spain the Hotel Marinda is a high rise building but it looks nice from the outside (not like the apartments which look like a prison). The lifts in the hotel are on the ou
