My/Our Holiday Review:

My wife and I have just arrived home after 2 weeks in Cap Salou and to be honest i,m glad to home. We,ve been to Cap Salou before three years ago and it has really changed. This place has got so built up.

The Cala Font Hotel was a nice place to stay we were half board the rooms were good we had a high floor and a great sea view of Salou but the food was not for the ordinary mans taste. Squid rings and octopus was some of the delights on the menu, my wife has been put of chicken for life, fish seems to be a must on the menu Breafast was bacon, saus, fried egg one morn and scrambled the next (scrambled egg was a funny orange colour and tasted of fish) after a few days we ate out. Great places for this was The Tap Room in cap salou which is beside the amusments (the people who own it are from N Ireland) and the food all home based, another is Big Bens or the Paddock(as long as you don,t want to change something on the menu or move your seat) also try the chippy in salou town.

We never got a sun lounger for the whole 2 wks we were there you have to be up at 6 in the morning to put your towel on a seat to get your spot and then queue for the sun longers to be unchained at 10. We used the small beach cove just beside us and it was great 4 euros for a sun lounger and it didn,t matter what time you got there at.

It pays to shop around for gifts as prices vary from shop to shop(good friendly gift shop in cala font hotel its self and not badly priced) If your self catering go to the supermarket up passed the sun club first avenue on the left its the cheapest

Port Adventura is getting bigger although the fireworks have been cut back a bit since the last time we were here.

There was a festival while we stayed here and on the 15th there was a fireworks display on the beach front in salou it was fantastic.

La Pinada is a good place to visit and Cambrill is a must If your intrested in fishing

Salou is maybe a good place but wouldn,t recomend it for couples on there own you need to go in a group

My/Our Holiday Review:

We have just arrived home from our 2 week stay at calafont.

The hotel is very clean and tidy, all the staff are friendly and very helpfull.we found that the food in the dinning room to be very poor standard, and they don't really cater for the british holidaymaker speaically kids.We decided to eat out a few times and found some lovely places in the area (route 66,smugglers inn and also rosies return which is in salou) all great value for money.

The night time entertainment at the hotel was good the kids loved it,and they have a happy hour every night 11-12pm.Some great places to go whilst your there are La pineda(Aquapolis water park),Terragona (shopping mall & roman remains) and Cambrills (old fishing port). The local bus service is great and run approximately every 15mins they don't do half price fares for kids. The fares on the buses also goes up of a weekend.

The weather for the time of year was fantastic very sunny and hot(late 20's early 30's).The beach was very clean & tidy too,but can get very busy at weekends as its not very big.

We had a Great Time,Kids didn't want to come home. Would go again.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We've been to this hotel for the third time, and this year left a bad taste in our mouth. Their standards dropped in every department, be it food or how rooms are cleaned.

Beware room safe rentals, we know a lady who had her earrings stolen from there. We also lost some euro notes stored in our safebox.

The personnel but the ladies at the reception were never too friendly, but now they don't even try to hide how they don't like you, especially those working in the restaurant. They seem to give for dinner what is left over from the lunch and so on.

The maid dropped our toothbrushes and several times "forgot" to empty the bin. She often turns her back on you when you go down the corridor, it seems she doesn't want to say Hola to you.

The hotel is half empty, and thus happily accomodates hords of kids staying overnight, wrecking havoc and pushing in the dining room.

There were dogs poopoo on the way to the beach.

Beware queueing in Port Aventura, a cell phone was stolen from my wife's bag. Also at the weekends there are lots of spanish kids there, yelling and chanting like mad while queueing.

Though we have enjoyed our holidays, it had nothing to do with the hotel, and we definitely are not going to return to Calafont.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The hotel is spotlessly clean with the staff on the go all day.

My wife and I enjoy foreign food so we had no problems at all with the buffet which had lots of choice and featured a spciality each day. e.g. whole baked salmon or freshly grilled steak. The hotel caters for many different nationalities. While we were there we noticed a lot of Russians and French so the catering staff obviously need to appeal to a broad spectrum of tastes and not just xenephobic little Englanders wanting chips for breakfast (honest!).

Access to neighbouring resorts is easy as a quick and reliable bus service covers this part of the coast from Cambrils to Tarragona.

La Pineda and Tarragona are both worth a visit. One for its lovely beach and the other for its fine medieval centre.

A good budget holiday for £300 for a week with food in.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Arriving at the hotel around 11.30am I was pleased to find our room was ready. I had emailed the hotel the week before asking for a sea or pool view, which we had been given.

The room was clean and the cleaners came everyday to clean the room and change the towels.

I found the hotel to be your average 3* Spanish hotel. Nothing amazing but nothing worse than anywhere else. Yes the walls are thin and the beds are a bit hard - but having been to most resorts in Spain I've found this the same in every 3* hotel.

The downside to the hotel for us was the food. The restaurant itself is clean and the prices for drinks are reasonable at around 7 euros for a bottle of wine and 1.5 for a large bottle of water.

There is alot of food to choose from - again your usual spanish buffet, salads, pasta, meat, veg, soup and breads. However none of it we found to be particularly tasty. The fish was full of bones and the pasta was soggy. They do have a separate section (i think its meant for kids) with chips, beans, nuggets and sausages - so there is always something that you can eat. It just wasnt really to our taste.

We only ate there 3 nights on our week stay. Its pretty cheap to eat out in cap salou and salou anyway.

The hotel is about a 20 minute walk into the main resort of Salou. Its a nice walk along the beach front, but if you cant face walking there is a really good bus service which is about 1.75 euro each way.

Overall a nice hotel, but if you are a fussy eater, probably best to take extra money and eat out.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We just arrived home from our 5 day get away at Cala Font. If you don't like cold bacon, stale croissants, moldy cheese, green hard boiled eggs and waiting in line for 10 minutes for a piece of toast which you just put in the toaster with tongs that have hair on them, then this hotel isn't for you. Not to mention if you have children that need to sit in high chairs, be prepared to bring your own dissinfectant to clean the chairs as they are never cleaned properly.

Also you must like sleeping on rock hard beds which by the way are two singles pushed together which might work for you but wasn't too plesant for my husband and I who are newlywed.

The walls ARE paper thin. I read other reviews and thought, how bad can they be? They really are paper thin. To each side of you and on top. Watch out for a sleepless night if someone above you decides to wear heels and prance around their room in circles all night.

You must like confined spaces. The elevators leave much to be desired. Picture yourself in a shoebox... that is one of the cala font elevators, which by the way close on you every chance they get, I am starting to see bruises on my arms where the elevators got me. No joke, those elevators are not fit for anyone in more of a party of one.

The beach is full of cigarette butts and dog pee, oh yes, did I forget to mention that dogs are allowed to stay in this hotel?? Not very child friendly if you ask me...

The hotel IS on an incline which ISN'T very accesible for people pushing babies in strollers.. be prepared for a work out.

All I have left to warn you about is the dinner buffet at this hotel. It is worse than breakfast. The concierge was very short with us and left us feeling like we were beggars at our own buffet after asking a few simple questions..But the food was just gross. Plain and simple. Gross. If you don't like microwaving your fish, chicken, pork, or whatever it was I don't know because they don't lable it so it is your own best guess, than you will not enjoy yourself at this hotel. If you want fresh food with a nice variety, with helpful staff that make you feel welcome in a hotel on an even plane with a beach free of litter than I suggest you go somewhere else.

The only redeeming thing about this hotel was the views, they are beautiful, but after waking up from a sleepless night from a hard bed and noisy neighbours, looking forward to a cold breakfast it just doesn't seem worth it.

My wife and i have just returned from the Cala Font, and we found it a spotlessly clean hotel with helpful and friendly staff.I e-mailed them a week earlier asking for a sea view room which they reserved for us and had good views of the sea and pool.

The food in the hotel was a BIG letdown it was cold, unappetising and very bland especially at evening Dinner, the breakfast was the only saving grace.(just)For the time of year the weather was warm and sunny apart from some cloudy intervals and a thunderstorm one evening. As its the end of the season Cap Salou was quiet and boring luckily there is a good bus service to Salou itself, also the bus service to places like La Pineda,Terragona ,and Cambrils are excellent.Plana the bus company do an excellent outing to Barcelona to visit the Nou Camp stadium and free time in the city itself for 25 euros, much cheaper than the reps tours. The beach area is a small cove although its ok i've seen nicer in Ibiza, overall we've seen it , done it and definately wont be going back.

we have just returned from a weeks stay at the cala font hotel

we found the hotel to be excellent nice and clean and the staff friendly as for the dining room in the hotel we found the food to be of very poor standard and that they didnt cater for the british holidaymaker at all and the food was always look warm we had booked for half board but after 3 nights just couldnt eat it anymore so for the rest of our stay we ate out at night the entertainment was terrible again catering for spanish more than english and the bar prices were not cheap there was supposte to be a happy hour on every night from 11 until 12 but not once did we get any 2 for one price so we drank outside where there was always a happy hour on for a couple of hours salou was only 10 mins away on the bus but for a family of 4 adults and 2 children it cost 14 pounds there and back as they do not have half price fares for children

you could have walked into salou if you wished which would take at least an hour la pineda was very nice and had a lovely beach which the kids throughly enjoyed and there acropolis water park was very good with photos being 5 euros each until you got your photo taken with a sealion when the price suddenly doubled and were 10 euros each the small supermarket across the street from the hotel was the dearest i have ever seen the gift shop in the hotel was great the man who runs it was the nicest person you could meet and his prices were excellent overall i was not impressed by salou at all and found it to be expensive over rated and the people very rude

this was our first visit to salou and suffice to say we will not be returning

My/Our Holiday Review:

Nice hotel, quite large and clean and a good location right on one of the small beaches at Cap Salou. It is basic but 'good basic' if you know what I mean.

Even when arriving on a package holiday you can't necessarily check in on arrival. If you arrive in the morning you are sent away and asked to return after 12:00 as the rooms aren't ready - we have never had this on a package holiday before. Thankfully we had a car so were able to go for a little drive and return later.

Plenty of food, well cooked and a large choice. The selection sometimes a little strange (quite often in fact) but hey it is Spain. My wife is vegetarian and I love meat - we both enjoyed the food. There was always a childrens option too with chips, fish fingers and beans or something like that and the biggest selection of deserts we have had in Spain. One of the few places in Spain to have proper pork sausages for breakfast and bacon without bones - we really didnt understand some of the bad comments on this website regarding the food. If you can't eat here then you REALLY are fussy.

Waiter service was virtually non-existent around the hotel and even in the restaurant you have to buy your drinks from a small bar (never had this before in Spain). Also no dishes or cutlery were removed from your table until you left the restaurant which was a bit awkward on smaller tables. We also regularly saw seemingly un-used cutlery from mucky tables being used to set other tables which is not good really but depends if you're bothered.

The hotel has a small car park at the top of the road which is good if you have a car, but it is awkward to park outside the hotel on arrival (i.e. to pick up your card to get into the car park).

This is the only hotel where we have ever been kept awake by noise at night (every night). Unfortunately this was down to other hotel guests (sadly mostly British) and not road / resort noise so perhaps we just had bad company that week.

We have stayed in far better hotels with same or lower star-ratings. Overall good but basic compared to others. I think it probablly gets it's star rating from the location only. Otherwise its a 2-star in my book.

It was a cheap holiday and was fine for the money. We wouldn't go back here and think it was over-rated on trip advisor but perhaps we've been spoilt by better hotels for similar prices.

When I went With my family last year I found everything great, the staff were freindly and helpul and it was spotless.I found the food wonderful with a great variety of desserts. The breakfeast was of execellent standard if you like a full english breakfast. The bar staff were very freindly and the prices of drinks is reasonable considering the stanard of the hotel.

The swimming pool area was good for relaxing but if you want to have a sunbed you have to qeue very early in the morning to get one which sometimes leads to alot of argueing over them.As for the pool itself it is very clean as it is cleaned regulary. In the morning there is aquarobics which is just aerobics but only in the swimming pool.

To entertain your kids through the day they can go to the mini club which includes arts and crafts and games etc...

There is good entertainment at night although it is reapeted often.

The location is very good as there is a beach right at the hotel which is almost really busy everyday and you have to rent the sunbeds there, you can also rent out pedlos.

All round I think the hotel is execellant

And I will definaetly go back again as I have already been four times and it will be my fith time this year.

Just back from 2 weeks in Cala Font hotel and we didnt want to leave!Spotlessly clean hotel.Receptionists very good english and v. helpful. We had 2 rooms on the very top floor(5th) and the view was amazing. The hotel is run to military precision!everything in its place at the right time.WE found the staff friendly and helpful IF you were friendly towards them!Larger groups of holidaymakers were trying to take the mickey out of them .

Avoid the rip-off merchant in the small shop opposite the front door!!!everything is X10.We used the ana-maria supermarket just around the corner-can of coke 45c as opposed to 2e!!

Dont buy any souvenirs to take home until you check out the hotel gift shop!A lovely little man(hes a barcelona fan)sells almost everything you need at Half the price of Salou.Wanted to bring him home!!

food in the hotel was always ok.My kids are fussy eaters, but there is a kids buffet-chips,nuggets,fish fingers etc .on every night. If i didnt like the look of the meat,i just had salad and chips with dressing(great varieties).Loads of fruit,desserts,ice-creams.We never went hungry!!we ate at the Smugglers a couple of times and at the Tap house no problems with english food reasonably priced too!.

We didnt really like salou at night, great beach during the day and shops full of the usual holiday stuff(kids loved it).usually only travelled thru at night on way back from Portaventura (buy tickets in uk)

Usually walked into La Pineda at night,Staggered back!!!had some great nights in the Mad Scotsman there.Friendly staff, make you feel welcome.Would love to go back soon to cap salou.

Would recommend this hotel and resort to anyone seeking a relaxing base for a great holiday.Take a trip to Barcelona about 30e each-we did Nou Camp and Magic Fountains.Brilliant!just booked at bus stop round corner.Used buses most of the time, found drivers helpful.

Dont know where well go next year to find a holiday with so much to do,on the doorstep and so near to the beach!!!!Kids want to go back again

We stayed here for 2 weeks and we have been to better hotels.

The food was ok but got a bit boring the second week the deserts were lovely though. The kids menu was ok but chips chips if the adults did not get them first!!

The hotel was clean & tidy the only down side was they allowed dogs in the hotel which we thought was a bit stupid especially when one morning in the way to the beach a dog had gone toilet on the landing the cleaners were going mad quite understanding.

Went to the beach every day more to do,that was after we watched the "entertainment" of people queing for the sunbeds even my 5 year old thought it was quite sad!!!Some people wanted beds & chairs which is selfish but eh we are British!!

Entertainment was ok same cd for kids disco adults entertainment was ok but seen it all by the second week.

The resort of Cap Salou is very quiet, but all geared for kids which was great the tapas bar was great they had a mini fairground for the kids quite reasonable prices.

Went to Salou twice(Blackpool in the sun).

La Pineda was great booked to go there next clean nice beach lots to do but not to hectic.

Getting around on the buses was quite reasonable and very frequent.

But your tickets for Portventura in the UK before you go much cheaper.Dont go during the day more queues and too hot for kids go in the evening much more to do.

Overall we had a good holiday here would recommend it to people with kids

My/Our Holiday Review:

My husband and I have just come back from Cap Salou. We stayed in the Calafont Hotel. This accommodation is in a lovely location, just minutes from a small cove. We requested a quiet room with a sea view by e-mail directly to the hotel. Our room was bright and airy with the nicest view we have every had. The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and efficient. But there was one BIG PROBLEM. The hotel allows pets and we were awoken every morning at 8am to the sound of a dog barking in a nearby room. We saw at least 6 dogs at the hotel so you could not really get away from the noise. We noticed one dog going to toilet on the corridor but his owner ignored this and just walked on. We left a complaint with Direct Holidays Ire. and the Hotel.

Cap Salou is a small quiet resort but is great for families and has a nice lively atmosphere at night. The local bus service is great and you can visit the main resort of Salou, Cambrils, La Pineda,

Tarragona and Barcelona by bus. During the high season the buses run 24 hours so you can get about quiet easily. If you are staying in Cap Salou we would recommend The Local Tap Bar for a drink and nice food. The staff are very friendly and they have entertainment every night with a small carnival beside it for the kids.

We love walking and Cap Salou is a perfect base for this. We walked into Cambrils Port one day. It took us 2 hours but you can walk along miles and miles of beaches which was lovely. You can also walk to the nearby resort of La Pineda which takes half an hour. This is a nice place with a brilliant water park.

We took a trip to Barcelona organised by the local bus company Plana. This worked out a lot cheaper than booking with our travel rep. The trip was well organised and great value.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Just returned from Hotel Cala Font after two weeks. We only paid £1500 half board through Direct Holidays so can't complain that much cos it was a bargain.

Arrived at the hotel after very short transfer and we were told our room would be ready shortly. Didn't take very long at all.

Was very happy to receive a third floor room with both a pool & sea view. I had e-mailed hotel through there website and requested this. Disappointed with room bit dated and definately cramped with two adults & two children, then again it was only for sleeping in.The main thing that works so well for this hotel is it's staff. They can not do enough for you & the hotel is always kept spotlessly clean. Plenty of choice for food though during the second wk we did find it a bit repetitive. One thing was the childrens pool was half a metre deep and we couldn't let our little boy in on his own. Any other accomodation we have stayed at has had more of a splash pool & we did miss this.

Cap Salou is very small. We spent most nights in Mickeys bar. Good value during happy hour and good for the kids.Salou itself is dirty, full of Spanish teenagers at night & too loud. Horrible place. We spent five nights at Port Aventura no queues in the evenings and alot cooler for the children.

I would have to say that we loved the hotel but hated the area. Worst holiday we have ever had for this reason. Even my seven year old couldn't wait to get home. Hotel beach ok but far nicer one Playa LLarga short walk away.

Think it was the most disappointing holiday we have ever had and we will not be returning. Costa Caleta in Fuerteventura for us again next year!

It was our second visit, although very enjoyable there were some noticible differences. The restaurant was very well run however there was a great deal of pork on offer each night and not much use of the grill this year. The room we stayed in was very cramped for two adults and two children compared to last years room. The resort is ideal for those with kids under 12, not much for older kids to do. Both Salou and Pineada are near by for a busier livlier time. You have to be up earlier to get a sunbed at the hotel as they are chained up and released at 10.00am, appears quite farcical however I was told people were taking them to the beach located 50m away. The pool has a life guard who is quite strict and does not allow the big kids to muck around near the little kids.

The hotel is not the cheapest for drinks and snacks. But not a bad hotel, the entertainment is pure cheese which our two loved. Kids Club for a couple of hours in the morning and in the afternoon.

The hotel was nice clean the staff were very helpful. The entertainment was ok but got a bit boring the second week because it was the same as the 1st but my 5 year old enjoyed the mini disco.

The food was nice good selection but as above the second week it was a bit much as it was the same, the staff in the restaurant were very nice and helpful. The resort itself was quiet which was ok if you had kids but if you are looking for a hectic night out dont come here, the tap house was great it has a mini fair ideal for the kids mickeys bar was good aswell. We did not use the pool because the beach was so close by also it was entertaining watching the people queuing for the sun beds(very sad!!)we left to return home early in the morning & some people were putting their towels out hahah.

Buy your tickets in the UK for Port Ventura as it works out a lot cheaper a very good park loads to do and see worth a few visits.

Overall if you have kids I would recommend Cap Salou also the Cala Font

cala font is a very clean hotel staff are very friendly and food is of good quality and piping hot but can get monotenus.

great location close to small beach about 100 yrds away is very clean but be careful when water gets a bit choppy things float in the water, just a short walk away is mickeys bar happy hour 7-10 every night great place quiz and kareaoke every night if u go half board and want to eat out one night i would suggest the smugglers inn great service and great foood. a trip the port aventura is a must a great day out also take the barecelona trip well worth it. overall we had a great holiday with salou only a bus ride away it was 2 weeks well worth it.

the only down fall i would say about the hotel is that the air condition was working very well we told reception but still no good , also if u want a good spot by the pool reserve your place then wait for the kamikaze sunbeds charge, they unlock beds at 10am thens its a free for allso start queing 10 mins early for them or u might miss out,the pool is very clean ,one of the cleanest ive seen but is very deep in places and they have a lifeguard on duty every day, they have a kids club twice a day but they dont control the kids and there is a lot of fighting going on in there so steer clear aprt from that we would def go back again

My/Our Holiday Review:

As you will see by looking down the reviews, this is our second visit to this hotel.

The main reason being that we could not expect any other hotel to improve on last year's standards - we were wrong! The Cala Font managed it! The food was superb - we have an 8 and 3 year old (as well as a 39 & 34 year old) and the choice for lunch and dinner was exceptional - always something different, always well cooked, more than enough for the kids. As for the breakfasts and desserts - throw those diet books away - you will not be able to resist.

Once again, the staff are so pleasant, work tirelessly and cannot do enough for you (especially on reception). The whole hotel is kept so clean and tidy and the maids work tirelessly to clean your room, make your beds and change your towels every day. The only reason this hotel does not get 10/10 is that it is pet friendly which does not suit us but maybe we are in the minority. The man who runs the little gift shop also deserves a mention - happy, helpful, great with kids and selling just what you need at very reasonable prices.

As we did last year, bought 14 day Port Aventura tickets from Keith Prowse website, not the cheapest but very reliable (arrived within a week of ordering). This place is heaven on earth for kids and adults alike. We visited 8 times (usually at around 4pm) when it was cooler and starting to quieten down. Rides, stage shows, food, drink and all round entertainment are fantastic.

Hotel is situated in Cap Salou which has bars, restaurants and plenty of entertainment for kids. When the hotel entertainment ends at midnight, the outside lights are turned off which allows a good nights sleep. It is a 5 min bus ride from Salou (£1 per person, under 4's free) which has all the nightlife anyone could need.

We also visited the Go Karting track twice during our visit (via the free bus which runs every couple of hours). Very reasonable prices for excellent entertainment including kids bungee trampolines and suicidal adult caged bungee rides as well as karts for ages 4 - 94.

Overall, we had another superb holiday based at the Cala Font. Our only worry is that by posting this review, we may find in difficult to book for next year.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Just returned from Cala Font at Cap Salou. Hotel very good but rooms are cramped for 4 people with very little storage space and not very efficient air conditioning (make sure you get two key cards for the room so that you can leave one in the slot to work the air con whilst you're out).

Dining room is pleasant and food very good and plentiful. Even the most fussy children could find something here!

Pool area is good and the main pool is warm. Ridiculous 'fight' for sunbeds when they are made available at 10.00 am but unfortunately if you don't queue at about 09.50 am, you WON'T get a sunbed all day as there aren't enough for everyone in high season.

Beach is lovely but can get crowded as it's so small, but there are two others very close by so you can always find a spot. Sea is very shallow until quite a way out so great to play in.

Aquapolis water park is great (better than Costa Caribe in our opinion), with lots of shade and sunbeds for hire for when you want a rest!

We used taxis instead of the buses which were packed at this time of year. Hotel reception will call a taxi for you which is there within a few minutes. Costs approximately 7 euros into Salou but obviously varies depending on the traffic (we never paid more than 9 euros). Drivers were all extremely good - great english, very pleasant and helpful.

BE CAREFUL IN SALOU IN THE EVENING! Two men working together tried to separate us from our young daughter (we had previously noticed them 'checking her out'), and someone else told us that a man had dragged their little girl into a lift! This sort of thing really seems to be a problem there - keep a very, very close eye on your children especially as there are so many people around in the evening. I am very vigilant (too much so probably!) but I dread to think what might have happened if we hadn't already seen these two men and watched them closely as they followed us. Having mentioned it to other people at the hotel, it was obvious that ours was not an isolated incident.

In summary, Cala Font hotel is lovely, especially if you have children (don't go if you haven't as there are hundreds of them and they'll drive you mad!). Quick transfer from the airport but be warned, your room won't be ready if you arrive in the morning - they make them available from about 1.00 pm.

VERY, VERY HOT AT THE MOMENT SO HIGH SPF SUNCREAM A MUST!

My/Our Holiday Review:

We have just returned from Cala font, what a wonderful hotel, we cant really fault the hotel at all, its in a wonderful location right on the beach, its very clean, the towels were changed daily and the rooms were also cleaned daily, the water aerobics at 10.30am where such fun!! We really enjoyed staying at this hotel, the actual resort is small, but with enough bars and restaurants if you dont fancy going into salou every night, we thought the drinks were very expensive until we found mickeys bar, 2 for 1, so we stayed there for quite a few drinks and then moved across the road to the tap house, where they had live music, we really enjoyed our nights out here.

We went to salou for 2 nights, but only had drinks near the beach, it was far to busy for us!!

Portaventura is extremely busy but good fun, i dont think i would like going for more than a day as i would get very bored easily, it depends whether you like theme parks that much?

The aquapolis water park is fab, with dolphin and sea lion shows, well worth the money, overall we thought Salou was very very expensive, take plenty of money!!!

We had an excellent holiday but i dont think we'd return unless it was a last minute deal, i think once you've seen it thats it, theres not much else to go back and do, enjoy cala font!!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

my family and i have just returned from cala font and we had a fantastic time.

hotel was in a lovely position by the beach away from all the hustle and bustle of salou, but only a 5 min bus ride away so you get the best of both worlds.the hotel is very clean and the staff are helpful and friendly(especially the little columbian man who runs the gift shop).they all work so hard about 15 hours a day.

the food is excellent with lots of choice and its always fresh and hot.we went to barcelona twice once to the football stadium and aquarium and the other to the zoo and the rambles.also we visited aquopolis water park, port aventura and bonavista market.all the above excursions we booked at the local bus stop they are really good and much cheaper than going through the reps!!i would recommend you buy a 1 or 2 week pass for the theme park before you go as there is so much to do there you need more than one visit, make sure you go at least once in the evening as the water show at the end is magic.its open till midnight from july 1st.there are a few shops and bars in cap salou near the hotel which we went to every night, mainly mickeys bar as from 7 till 10 and 11.30 till12.30 you get 2 drinks for the price of one.we also went to the tap house a few times as it has trampolines for the kids.during the day we either got up and spent the day at the pool or went out and about.

the sunbeds are chained up till 10 which is good as it stops people getting up early and putting their towells on them.i used to get up at 9 go to the pool put my towells on a chair to reserve my place then wait till sunbeds were opened as there is a bit of a queue.then go for breakfast.if you wait till after 10 you WONT get a sunbed.

la pineda is about 5 mins on a bus or 20 min walk and has a long sandy beach and good selection of shops, bars and restaurants.it is also where the water park is situated.more about the hotel:during the high season the evening entertainment is outside by the pool so if you have asked for a pool view it is noisy till midnight when it finishes and starts again at 10.30 the next morning.the only negative thing about the hotel in my opinion is that there are no kettles or fridges in the rooms but you can buy hot drinks at the bar and take them to your room.

overall we had a brilliant time and would highly recommend it if you want to be away from the nightlife of salou.

stayed at the cala font from 11-18 june the rooms were spacious comfortable and very clean. The food was excellent plenty of choice always hot and the desserts were the most wonderful and selective I have ever had. There were plenty of sunbeds and were available from 10am the hotel is very child friendly with pool tables and amusements.

There is entertainment on of an evening but we didnt use it.We did frequent Mickys bar which had happy hour from 7to10pm they have a karaoke and a quiz 6nights a week and there are also a few other bars and restaurants. The bus stop to Salou is 5mins up a small hill and takes about 10mins and costs 1 euro 40 each way. La Pineda is about 20 mins walk and has a nice beach and a number of shops.

In all this was an excellent value for money holiday and we would definatley go back.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The location of the hotel right next to a small beach was very nice. Most of the staff seemed freidnly enough. The food was a bit hit and miss. They had pictures up next to the meals (e.g a pig for pork) but you had to take a guess most of the time as they were never right.

They do tend to love pork!

Capa Salou is only a small place but there was a few nice pubs (drinks expensive in hotel), we went to one called the 'tap bar' which the kids loved as they had bunjie jumping and trapolines.

We bought a pass for the theame park before we went (price of a three day pass for 2 weeks) We went there 3 times and paid to go in the water park. W'eve never been to disney so we cannot compair it but we wouild go again.

We visited Salou, went by bus 10 mins, and it was nice but as the hotels werre all on top of one another i am glad we went to cala font.

We went for an walk one day to some of the small beaches along the costline and found we were not as far from Salou (bus goes long way round)as we thought.

If you want a hotel that is not on top of all the noise of salou but only a short bus ride or longer but nice walk from Salou, Cala Font is a must

Hotel is in a great position great for kids as my 6 year old daughter enjoyed every bit of it.

food was excellent had no complaints and lots of choice.

cleaning staff was the most freindlyist

the little man in the hotel shop (whicked)

only 2 down falls in the hotel was that we went down for bfast to find the restaurant was flooded we think was a burst pipe. no one would tell us what was going on but everybody just carried on regardless.

and the night manager well what can i say a rude horrible man did not deserve to be a night manager he did not want to help in any way and when you did speak to him you just managed to get a grunt. (good luck).

beaches lovley pool area cleand everyday entertainment very poor kids club great

the paddock is the best place to eat and resonable and friendly.

(then the night manager)

My/Our Holiday Review:

After an eventful nights travelling due to a problem with our flight we eventually arrived at the Cala Font Hotel at Cap Salou, we were very pleased with the hotel, the rooms were very spacious, very clean and we were made up that we had been give a balcony overlooking the pool with a side view of the beach.

The hotel's food was generally very good we only had one night which we were dissapointed, the only suggestion i could make is to add more labelling to the dishes the mains are labelled but the soups etc are not, Breakfast was lovely every day and there was plenty to choose from, the pool area was nice although sometimes the sunbed rush was a bit annoying, This hotel and resort was very family orientated and with us not having any children sometimes there were a few too many about for our liking, there didnt seem to be many couples without children and we did find a lot of them were toddlers so i advise you to take earplugs thank god we did!, Cap Salou itself was nice to visit for a quite evening there were a few bars and their was entertainment regulary.

We can reccomend Salou itself for the nightlife but it only really comes alive after 10pm. Try uncle Sam's restaurant for a TGI's/ Frankie & Bennys experience really nice!, have to say the best pub we visited on our stay was Christy McGraths (hope i'v spelt it right), traditional Irish pub, really friendly staff, brilliant atmosphere, lovely Coctails live music thought it was fab!!

overall although the Cala Font was a nice hotel i don't think i would return unless i had children but i would definately return to Salou :-)

My/Our Holiday Review:

I booked the Cala Font hotel for a large family holiday ( there were 20 of us ages 7 to 67)

I had been to the hotel before and was very impressed with how clean the rooms and public areas are kept. The food is buffet style and well presented. None of our party did not find something to eat in fact most of us must have put on some weight. All the staff were pleasant and helpful

We visited Port Aventura only had 1 day not enough time there but 2/3 days would be kinder to your feet and legs. Try to get some of the discount tickets.

Karting Salou Adrenaline park just outside of Salou is fantastic, well my 14-15 year old grandsons thought so. We all had a great time.

The Gift shop in the hotel is run by the most cheerful obliging man you could ever meet and his prices are usually cheaper.

One word of warning!! I hired a car from WELCOME CAR - Salou, who the hotel use as agents.

When I collected the car there was quite bad damage to the front wing which was pointed out to me and marked on the contract. When I returned the car they seemed quick to point out a stone chip in the windscreen which was not covered by the insurance and was almost impossible to see from inside the car. The fact that the windscreen was not covered by insurance was not pointed out at the time of hire and cost me another e200. I think I was ripped off!! but cannot prove it. I just wonder how many other tourist have had this problem. BEWARE, hire a car from a major company.

Would recommend the Hotel Cala Font Cap Salou for a good value holiday.

We spent a very relaxing week at the cala font.Hotel clean and staff very friendly.

Pools are cleaned daily.Rooms also clean although not huge but how much time do you want to spend in there!

We found the buffet meals to be varied and fresh,(the salads were beautiful!!)

The kids club was a godsend, kept the little ones very busy.

We had a room with a pool/sea view which i requested by email a week before we went.

Cap salou was very small & not much to do there (lots of mosquitos around)

There are regular buses to salou which is VERY lively with a very long beach.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Have recently had a 2 week holiday at the Hotel Cala Font with our nearly-3-year-old son.

The Hotel was in a lovely location overlooking a small beach (our beach as my son referred to it!!)which is lovely for children and handy for the quick trips back to the hotel for potty-training parents!!. We had a really nice room overlooking the pool and sea (which we request prior to departure - the hotel has a very good website).

We found the food just ok, you could "make a meal" - we usually holiday with Thomson Holidays Superfamily and this was not up to the same standard. We had no rep and no welcome meeting which seemed strange. The staff were friendly enough and had no complaints with the hotel itself. Not much entertainment for the chilren - a hotel-run kids club for 4+ year olds, which didn't help us much with a 2 year old in the rain!! Salou is a great family resort - it's probably a half-hour walk into Salou but loads of buses and the little train too. The waterpark in La Pineda is a great day out - our son loved it but it does get very hot in there. We caught the train to Barcelona which was good but very busy - much too busy with a child - one for when the kids are older I think.

Overall we had a good holiday, the weather wasn't great but that's the look of the draw I suppose!

hi myself and 21 others in my party have just come back from the hotel cala font in cap salou in spain. we spent 14 nights at the hotel and i was brilliant, the hotel was kept clean and tidy at all times,we would go back to the same hotel again if we go back to salou in the future the staff where friendly, the only down side to the hotel was the entertainment it was aimed at the spanish and the elderly but the thing is you dont have to stay in the hotel you can get buses cheap to other places, the little beach what was at the bottom of the hotel was just nice not too many people on there so it didnt really get packed,

the food at the hotel was very nice the only thing wrong is that it got a bit tedious by the second week as it was the more or less the same stuff in the second week,

a few of us bought tickets for port-aventura at the gates it is more adviseable to buy the tickets when you get there as buying from the travel agents or the reps works out more dearer you can get a 15 day pass for 71 euros but buying from a rep will cost you 58 euros for just a 3 day pass, the park is a place everyone must go to whilst in salou, went on the new hurakon condor ride and what a ride it is i am scared of hights but its just the adrenalin of going on the rides makes it more fun even though i am in my 30s ha ha still feel young though.

well thats all i can say about the hotel and resort like i say i would advise anyone to go to the hotel cala font.

ps: anyone who likes a good sunday lunch go to the smugglers in just down from the hotel cala font the dinners are massive and you get more than what you pay for believe me.

We booked this hotel on the internet and we were not disappointed.

Everything about the Hotel is 1st Class.

The food is beautiful, always plenty of choice & is constantly being brought freshly cooked from the kitchen.

The rooms are spotless and are cleaned by the maids every day, we e-mailed the hotel before we left home and asked for two rooms together and sea views if possible.

We were given two rooms beside each other with stunning views over the Bay.

The bus stop for buses to Salou (10 minutes away) & Port Aventura (20 minutes away) is 100 yards from the hotel and the buses run 24 hrs a day.

Buy a Port Aventura pass before you go from Keith Prowse (£53 for a 14 day pass) as you will need a few days to do all you want to do.

Take a trip to Barcelona, the bus company runs them 3 days a week and for 25 Euro they will bring you to Barcelona and the price includes a tour of the Nou Camp, shopping time and a visit to the Magic Fountain.

The staff in the Hotel were very helpful and the 2 for 1 drinks promotion every night is great !

Take a short walk from the Hotel to the Clansman Pub for all sport and the Smugglers Pub for superb food.

The Cala Font is a superb hotel which I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and Cap Salou is an excellent resort as it is quieter than Salou but still so close.

Visited Costa Dorada for the first time on 3rd Sep for a week half board and chose Cap Salou as we didn't want a very busy resort. We booked our flight with Thomson Holidays and our accommodation at the Cala Font Hotel with Bedbookers which was very cheap.

The Cala Font is a lovely hotel, very friendly staff, nice clean rooms and the choice of food was excellent and always hot. Dinner can be a bit repetative but there was plenty of it and they had a separate menu for children. The bar wasn't too expensive although a bit dearer than the local bars, they did however have happy hour between 11 & 12 at night when you got two drinks for the price of one. The entertainment was nothing special but seemed to cater well for children with a disco etc. The Reception staff were very helpful and the souvenir shop is really cheap and the chap who ran it was always smiling. We are beach lovers so didn't use the pool area but it looked really nice and they had a separate pool with a waterfall for children. There are 3 small coves right next to the hotel which are lovely and the water is shallow.

The resort of Cap Salou is excellent if you don't want hussle and bussle. There are plenty of restaurants and bars without them getting packed and we especially enjoyed our evenings in The Crow's Nest Bar, live enterntainment every night and very reasonably priced drinks. Ricky James on a Sat night was particulary good and the bar owner is very friendly, he even moved all the chairs inside during a thunder storm so everyone could watch the World Cup game.

Bus service is excellent and goes all over. We went to Salou but found it to be a Blackpool with sun, we really liked La Pineda and would consider staying there if we wanted somewhere a bit more on the flat as Cap Salou is quite steep with lots of steps. We had a couple of days of thunder storms which prevented us taking a trip to Barcelona but we would go next time as the local but do a trip for 25 euros to the Nou Camp and the Fountains.

Overall we had a great holiday in a lovely resort and a very good hotel. Will deffinately be returning again.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We had a low cost flight to Barcelona and decided to go to Salou.

Its easy to get a train from the airport to Sants and a train from there to Salou.

After seeing the recommendations by many Holidays Uncovered reviews from 2004 and some from early 2005 we opted for the Cala Font and at no point were we ever disappointed.

The hotel staff were always cheerful and helpful.

The room, overlooking the pool and the beach, was small but adequate for our needs sleeping three.

The maid service was excellent with the rooms cleaned daily and new towels every day if you required them.

We stayed full board and were always happy with all the meals served. A menu is displayed at the entrance so you can see before entry what is on offer lunchtime and dinner. To reinforce this when you arrive at the hot meal counter they use pictures to indicate what is being served. There was always a very good choice of meat and fish dishes. Rather surprising for Spain the cooked vegetables were edible! The salads were very good and fresh fruit was some of the best I have eaten.

The pool/terrace is very good but you have to be a bit 'canny' if you want a good spot on a lounger. I blame the British! (makes a change!!) who were never slow in getting out by the pool when it opened at 8 am to reserve their spot with a towel and then being first in the queue for sun loungers which are available from 10 am.

The hotel is also right by two sandy cove beeches, however, these do get very busy.

Can't really comment of the hotel entertainment as we only saw the flamenco night (which was good). My son thought the kids club was a bit too 'practical' in that they did too much art and crafts. I'm sure that lots of other kids would have liked that!

Cap Salou is fairly quiet but the few bars, shops and entertainment which are there were okay. If you want really lively you will need to go to Salou.

Places to visit - obviously Port Aventura and Caribe but I would also recommend Aquopolis in La Pineda. An excellent water park with sea lions and dolphins.

My 11 year old grandson enjoyed all the entertain ment at the hotel. We would go back there again. But next time we would request a sea view or pool view room. This time are view was by the road looking at a wall of ivy,but it was quiet and we still enjoyed every minute of it.Roll on next year..............

Hotel Cala Font,Salou is an O.K. hotel to stay in. The staff are friendly and helpful. We went full-board but beware the food is just average with a lot of the dishes being repeated, which gets a bit boring after a while. Also a lot of the dishes, you didn't know what they were supposed to be!

Pool is cleaned every day, but you do have to queue for the chance of any sunbeds. They are limited as are the parasols, which you also have to queue for!

There is a lovely little beach-cove just a short walk from the hotel with pedalos to hire out.

The hotel is set in very quiet surroundings and the entertainment is a bit boring!

But we,ve kept the worst til last- there were guests there with dogs, we seen at least 8 different dogs there and even though the rooms are cleaned every day it just makes you wonder who stayed in the room before you!! The holiday makers in the room next to us didn't seem to have any problems letting their dog wander onto other peoples balconies!

Definitely wouldn't go back to Salou.

Have just returned from 14 nights .The hotel itself is very clean and the maid service is very good. Like most hotel rooms the walls are extremely thin can hear everything, and i mean everything.I have never been in a hotel where people slam doors so much and found this very annoying when its early on a morning and in the early hours. The food was a bit hit and miss but we didn't starve. The beach being so close is a godsend the water was lovely and warm and safe. A very big downfall is that the sunbeds are chained up until ten by which time people have already been waiting in a queue and had their towels on chairs for about an hour to secure a place. Also there is not enough parrsols which is a must when you have children.

The resort is very quiet you can cover it in about fifteen minutes. It was nice not to be in the cattle market of salou centre.Buses are every ten minutes in both directions although if it not too hot its a nice walk into salou {40 mins} or 20 mins the other way into La Pineda. The entertainment is just your typical spanish thing miss it if you can.

All in all it was a good holiday the days on the beach are good fun and it leaves out the hassel of the pool.

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at the cala font.the hotel is spotlessly clean and well maintained the pool area was great and the food was fine.

The hotel is on a steep slope which is quite hard work for disabled or older people but the hotel has great access for disabled(we have a son in a wheelchair). The area around the hotel had a few good bars supermarkets etc which suited us fine, salou town was easy to reach on the frequent buses that stopped near the hotel.Port adventura is a must as is Barcelona which was easy and cheap to get by train.

This hotel and area had everything you needed for an excellent holiday unless you want non stop nightlife we are already thinking about returning in 2006.

Just back from a very enjoyable holiday to the Cala Font. This was my second year going to this hotel and it was as excellant as the first time. I had a sea and pool view which was awesome, a beautiful scene to waken up to each morning.

The rooms are cleaned every day and are comfortable. The food was really delicious but then I enjoy sampling food from other nationalities. It was hot, and well stocked up with hot freshly cooked food throughout the morning and evening. A wide variety of fruit , salad and bread was available.

The hotel staff were really lovely and spoke very good English. The bar staff are lovely and very good with the kids carrying on with them and playing with them.

Cap Salou is a small area, ideal for families. I felt safe allowing my 12 year old to walk down to the shop on his own as it was a nice quiet area, not all hustle and bustle like Salou.

There is a coved beech right at the hotel which again is ideal for families as it is a small beech and less chance of the little ones wondering off and getting lost.

Porta Ventura is a must although 14 day pass would be to much as rides and shows can be easily done in 3 days. Costa Caribe water park is another must, as we spent a fantastic day there both years that we visited.

This year we visited Barcelona by train which was only 10.20 euros return each. The hotel reception were very helpful telling us which stop to get of at and were to get buses ect to were we wanted to go.

Another very enjoyable year at the Cala Font hotel. Will definitely visit again.

we have just came back from our first family hoilday to salou. it was the worst hoilday i have ever been on. we came home 1 week early it was that bad. the only good thing about it was smugglers the pub round the corner from cala font. we went half board and eat out has the food in the hotel is vile. nothing for kids in this resort myself and my boyfriend are 20 and our son is 2, nothing there for us. would recommend it at all. the hotel was clean to an extent.

My/Our Holiday Review:

we already had some info about this hotel so we were happy to find it was lovley

beach- the beach is a min walk away and is a little cove. thebeach is small but nice and can get a bit crowded at some times. but it is better going with this one instead of the one in salou it is always busy and you will never get a space.

rooms- rooms are bright and spacious with large balconies. we were lucky to be granted with a low floor and a pool view. the beds are comfy enough but the rooms can get a bit cramped when there are four of you in one room. sheets are cleaned every three days and towels replaced every day. maids make wonderful job!but the noise of the waterfall can get ennoying sometimes.

swimming pool - the swimming pool is lovely and the kids pool with the water fall is lovely. the big pool is large and can fit everybody in but get down for your sunbeds early as there are ques at 9 0 clock in the morning for them. the pool bar is handy and the pool and around the pool is vey clean and tidy also child friendly.

entertainment- the entertainment is repeated each week which can get get a bit boring sometimes the m ini club is good for kids but it only lasts for an hour

location of the hotel- the location of the hotel is about a ten mins bus ride to salou and about twenty mins from port aventura. there is a rwegular bus service and if you dont want to go down to salou for bars there is a little village of good bars and entertaiment eg karaoke

food- this was the downfall of the holiday the food was ok some nights but offer the same stuff and it isnt labeled so you dont know what you are eating.and the plac e is very bad for flys

over all the hotel is lovely and clean and the staff are very friendly and speak good english. the Thomson Holidays rep is there quite regualy anf is very good. but a bit out of the way if you like the hustle and bustle. we wouldnt return again as it is a bit out the way as we like a lively hol but if you like a quite hol then cala font is the hotel to come to.

My/Our Holiday Review:

My family of 2 adults and 2 children aged 5 & 8 stayed in the Cala Font Hotel for our annual holiday. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean with the rooms cleaned daily, beds made, clean towels daily if needed. The restaurant is very good with plenty of choice and a childrens section. The evening meal does not include any drinks as they have to be paid for. We found this a bit dissapointing as we were half board. The evening entertainment was on very late. They had a normal disco 9.30 - 10pm, but then a childrens mini disco 10 - 10.30pm. Why couldn't it be the other way round and a little earlier. Young kids get tired after being in the sun/pool all day. They also had a happy hour 11-12pm which we thought was a bit late as the bars in cap salou had happy hours a lot earlier.

The kids mini club in the daytime was excellent for youngsters as there was a morning and afternoon session, lasting an hour and a half. The girls that ran it also ran the mini disco and were really good. The resort itself is a bit quiet. There is a childrens play area around the corner, but it gets a bit boring after 2 weeks. The beach is small but adequate but not very clean. We usually went into the main resorts of Salou and La Pineda.

When the weather had been windy Salou beaches had an influx of jelly fish, but La Pineda didn't seem to be affected. This resort had a fantastic water park which is well worth a visit and has dolphin and sea lion shows which are great.

PS for childrens early evening entertainment we often went to a local hotel called H10 Meditteranian Village and pretended we were guests! This started at 8pm and was very good with clowns, singing, dancing etc.

All in all we had a great time, but would liked to have been closer to Salou as there is more going on.

My/Our Holiday Review:

My wife and I stayed at the Cala font hotel at Cap Salou for two week , Flew with Ryanair, And booked the hotel threw Bedbookers.

Hotel - The Cala Font is an excellent hotel to stay at, Very clean and tidy, All the hotel staff, From the receptionist to the room maids are first class, And all are very helpful, Nothing is to much trouble for them, And I mean nothing is to much trouble for them.

Food - The food was excellent, But can get a bit repetitive, But you will not go hungry, ( And I am a fussy eater ).

Entertainment - The hotel entertainment was very good, The Flamingo Dancers are must for you to see.

Hotel Shop - The hotel shop is owned by a little Moroccan guy, Who is very, very funny, You will never see him without a smile on his face, He will all ways speak to you, And if you need help to find something he will help you, He is just a credit to hotel, And he is the cheapest for souvenirs and other things he has for sale,

Cap Salou - Cap Salou itself is a very hilly place, some nice walk's at night and during the day, It takes about 30minutes to walk into Salou, And takes about 15 minutes to walk into La Pianda, You can get the bus to every thing else, Just at the bus stop at the top of the road.

Excursion - Went on a day trip bus tour to Barcelona,it only cost us 35 Euros each, And is a lot safer than doing it yourself, And we also had a day trip to Montserrat, that only cost us 38 Euros each, Which was well worth the money.

Can't wait to go back and stay at the Cala Font Hotel **********

We went as a group which included 3 adults and 1 child and booked our flights with Ryanair and accomodation with bed Bookers and stayed Full Board in Cala Font Hotel, Cap Salou.

The hotel was absolutely brillant with all meals excllent. Having a child of 9 and wanting to taste everything that was on offer wasn't a problem. We never got food we could not eat. There was a lovely friendly atmosphere in the hotel and it catered for everyone exceptionally well.all staff were fabulous and could not do enough for you. situated in a nice quiet area yet you never needed to leave the hotel for anything except for the shops which was only a short walk away.Beautiful pool and lovely rooms and air conditioned.

A must is Port Aventura as you will thouroughly enjoy the day. Also the Aquopolis waterpark is nice if you are into watersports only.Buses go every few minutes so you can go to neighbouring resorts if you want to and are very cheap.

All in all we all would go back and highly recommend Cala Font and especially if you want a quiet area to stay in even thiugh the beach is only a 2 minute walk away.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Just returned from an excellent 2 weeks at the Cala Font Hotel. Weather beautiful, up to 30 degrees for a few days. Lovely situation. There are a lot of jelly fish in the sea, but don`t let this put you off as it is a lovely cove, sunbeds and pedalos available.Quite a steep climb to bus stops which may be difficult for some.

The hotel is kept very clean, rooms cleaned and beds made daily. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the reception staff.Views are lovely, sea views to front and some of the back rooms.I e - mailed the hotel a week before to request a pool and sea view - they replied almost immediately and we were not disappointed.

Food - we thought was mainly good, but did get repetitive.Plenty available and restocked frequently.

Entertainment ok - does seem to have been improved but can see what past reviews mean!It does start qiute late, seems to be on a weekly rotation. Mini club 1 - 2 times in the day which our 8 yr old loved, and she was out of the sun for an hour and a half which we were grateful for.

Hotel quiet on arrival, is popular with many nationalities and with the Spanish and those having short breaks on trips to Port Aventura, so had busy times.

Hotel shop well priced and owner very friendly.

We took the train to Barcelona as trips v expensive for family of 5.Reception staff gave advice and timetable, train much cheaper than bus, costs 9 euros return, 6 euros for kids.Train stops in tourist centre, maps and tour buses easily available there.

Spent 2 1/2 days at Port Aventura, great days out, no queues early evening,so saved big rides til last.

A thoroughly enjoyable holiday, can be as busy or relaxing as you like.Highly recommended.

The hotel was great, very clean, food was good, a good choice, some of the meals I was unsure what they were, but we always found other choices. The resort of Cap salou where the hotel is situated in not up to much, very small with only a few bars and shops, but you can get the bus into salou or La Pineda, where there is plenty to do. The theme park was ok, but since we have been to Florida the park does not come up to the parks there, so be aware if you have been to the parks in Florida dont expect the same.

SUPER HOTEL, can not praise this hotel, enough, fantastic place to be cap salou, 30 min walk into salou, but that was nice, weather very hot as well, only problem was you have to get up early to get in the QUEUE for the sunbeds, pool is great as well, rooms air conditioned, hotel food was brill as well, kids did not complain, so that was a bonus.BE WARNED if you fly with ryan air, they dont charge for eexcess baggage flying from the uk, but when you fly from reus airport , they will charge you ,we paid 120 euros ,for 17 kilos over weight baggage, so my advice is to put any heavy items in the hand luggage ,or dont take to many clothes, which we always do, have a great time,

and we will be back next year, thats how good it was, fantastic salou.

Our third year running at the cala font.

if you,re looking for a quieter holiday then this is the one for you.

the fact they have had the same staff three years running speaks for itself.

the children say its like going to our summer home.

the hotel is spotlessly clean and all the staff are very welcoming.

the children enjoy the twice daily mini club and no matter where we are. we have to be back for the mini disco at 10pm as my six year old would never speak to us again!

the salads and desserts are excellent but the hot buffet can sometimes be a little bland but wih so many different nationalities it must be very difficult to please everyone.

We keep saying we will try somewhere different next year. But who knows

excellent holiday, well worth the money!!!!!

my daughter and i visited calfont hotel in october 2004, overall the hotel is lovely and clean and the staff were great BUT the food was very very very bad, my daughter did not eat at all in the hotel as the choice was beans and chips only, and if i knew what i was eating i know i would of been very ill,

the pool was nice and the hotel was situated in a beautifull place it was by the beach which was also very clean. cap salou is very quite and i would recommended it to older people who are able to walk well as it is a little hilly and there is buses every 10 mins or more to salou town which only takes 10mins.be aware of your bags as there was a few people who had there belongings stolen at salou. my daughter and i enjoyed are holiday as we visited the theme park but believe me a day is enough and i would not recomend it to under 5,s as i felt is was catered more for adults and it was expensive.

overall rating i would give the hotel staff and rooms 8/10 and i would give the food 1/10.

hope you enjoy

My husband and I have just returned from a fantastic week's holiday at this Hotel and would highly recommend it to others.

We had a one bedroom apartment overlooking the pool which also had a sea view. This was our first time going half board so we didn't really know what to expect but after sampling some of the fine cuisine this Hotel had to offer we were really glad that we did. The Hotel was spotless and had cleaners on the go 24/7. The pool area was kept clean at all times and the walk to the small beach only took seconds rather than minutes. We went in September which neant that is wasn't too busy. The only real downside to the Hotel was the evening entertainment which was geared towards over 50's who liked ballroom dancing or big band music. There was a lack of places to go within walking distance and the few bars that were there were a bit tacky. It was only a short bus/taxi ride into the main centre though where there was lots to do and see.

Would we go back?

Absolutely we had a fantastic time and the Hotel Cala Font was wonderful

The hotel Cala Font was absolutely BRILLIANT!

Staff were friendly and very helpful and the hotel itself was spotless.(We didn't see one cockroach all holiday) The food was good, if a little repetative, but we never went hungry. The chef there excells on his salads and desserts but the main courses were a bit boring for English taste. There were plenty of sunbeds most days, of course with some people reserving them and disappearing for the day but usually no problems.

The beach at Cap Salou is clean and sheltered with sunbeds and shades payable per day. We would say the resort is not suitable for people with disabilites as it is set on a steep incline, downwards to the beach but up a steep hill to the bus/roadtrain stops. There are a couple of well stocked supermarkets and a number of restaurants and bars in the resort of Cap Salou so there was no need to head off to nearby Salou or La Pineda every night. Buses and roadtrains to Salou, Cambrills and La Pineda are frequent and cheap so no need to be stuck when you fancy a change of scenery.

All in all a relaxing and comfortable holiday in a clean and well run hotel. We would not hesitate to go back and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for cleanliness, good food and friendly staff as part of their holiday.

Thomas Cook/JMC rep was fantastic and couldn't do enough for her guests.

Hotel was kept very clean maid service every day ,changed towels and bedding and genrely tidyed the room .you didnt even have to make your bed in the morning which was great.breakfast was served till 11am and tea started at 6pm till 8pm meals were very good but felt not a lot of choice for the kids. As soon as they ran out of food theyed bring more out so it dosent matter what time you go you are always cated for.THINK THE ONLY DOWN SIDE TO THE HOTEL IS THAT ITS ON A BANK WHICH IS QUITE STEEP.

The resort its self is rather quiet which i found a bit strange seens as we went in peak season. the auqau park in aqapolis is a must you can spend all day there and its not that expensive, the kids loved the rides and the water while you can relax on the loungers and soak up the sun.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We went to The Cala Font Hotel after searching the internet for cheap deals. We made a saving of around £300 by booking the room directly over the hotel website (www calafonthotel com) and booking our flights elsewhere.

We were pleasently suprised upon arrival to the hotel (apart from the fact that we were ripped off in the taxi from the airport!27 euros there and 17euros back!)

It was very well presented and the air conditioning was lovely!

Rooms were very spacious (for 2) and sheets and towels were changed on a regular basis. Every day the cleaners came to visit! mopping the floors, giving you spare toliet rolls and making the beds.

I would recommend that you get a fridge in your room. It was 40 euros for the whole two weeks and somebody came to fit it within 5 mins of request. Also, The Airconditioning in the room was very good however if you went out you would have to take your key card with you (obviously) which would turn the air-con (and all elcetricity) off! If you had the fridge they would give you an extra card to keep the fridge on and you can also use this for the air-con! However, we did find that the maids tended to take the card out!! When we complained about this we were told that they often did this and have been told not to! A bit bright yellow sticker was put on there and was never taken out again!

Entertainment was a bit poor but acceptable if you are in good company. Tequila Sunrise cocktails are a must!

SUSNBEDS!

You need to be up at the crack of dawn if you require one of these! There were no where near enough for the whole hotel. People kept gettong susbeds and then leaving their towels on them! They would not re-appear all day! (How annoying!)Just a shame when it rained on our last day!Towels got soaked!

Just behind the hotel is some steps which lead to beautiful view overlooking the sea. I would recommend going up here late at night if you are a couple as it is very romantic and quite! (This is where my boyfriend proposed to me!!!!!)

Food was awesome.! Did get a bit boring on the second week but berable.

I would definelty return to this hotel as all staff were friendly and helpful!

Oh yea, that reminds me! Dont under any circumstances order a pizza from the leaflet on the recetion desk. When I phoned I was told that they dont deliver to English People! Therefore when I asked the receptionist to call for me, they asked her if I was English!! Hah!

Would definetly recommend!!! Have a great holiday! Dont worry about anything!

My/Our Holiday Review:

Cap Salou was a small resort but with a young family the ideal place to be. The beaches are small coves unlike the one in salou which is streached out for miles and the water was shallow for quite a way out.

The bars all had lots of games (ie. pool, video games, bouncy castle, motorcycles and trampolines) around to keep the children occupied but they are quite expensive the grabbers were about 80p a go.

The Hotel was also in a great place being right on the beech and if you liked to stay by the pool it had a jacuzzi, childrens pool, a large pool and a little park. The food was very good and they catered for children as well, it was mostly the same for them every night, chicken nuggets, chips, beans but what child doesn't like this sort of stuff.

The rooms were not a bad size but we could have done with a bit more storage (drawers/hangers). The cleaners really worked hard as the rooms were cleaned everyday and the hotel was always spotless. The only down side to the hotel was that most of the staff were a bit rude and never smiled, the lights on the balcony would be turned off every night at 12 and then we were told to go to bed about 1am even though we were just having a quite drink/chat. I do think however, the reason for them being this way is because they work very long hours but still when you pay to go on holiday you do not expect to be told when you should go to bed.

The hotel runs its own childrens club twice a day I for children aged over 5 but again I thought they were not very happy either. The entertainment varied from night to night the shows were good and on the nights it didn't look too good we just walked down to the bars.

Port Adventura was brilliant we went 5 times at different times of the day so that we could watch all the shows, the best one is Fort Frenzee in Far West the children loved it, they also really enjoyed the fireworks which were showed everynight at 12 but be warned if you stay to watch these you could be waiting a while for a bus/taxi after because of the amount of people, one night we didn't get back until 1.30am. The only bad thing was that the staff seemed to change rules for different people, some would let my 3 year old on some rides with me and then when his dad tried taking him on straight after they would not let him even though they had just saw him get off with me. Watch out for people pushing in when your lining up for the rides. I also thought that the fastpass which you pay extra for is not worth it because you have to book a time to go on the rides. The best time to go was in the evening when the sun was going down and it didn't seem so busy which ment we didn't have to wait long for the rides and with some just walked straight on all the rides are on until 12 midnight. We spent a day in the water park which also was good, one day was enough though as there is not that many slides.

All in all I thought it was a brilliant choice for people with a small family and would go back again.

Just back from the Cala Font. The hotel is in a lovely situation on the beach but access is a bit hilly.WE were there for ten nights and I just didn't want to come home. Our room overlooked Salou Bay and there was the constant lap of waves which was lovely. We phoned beforehand to make sure we got a sea view. The transport system is very good from the hotel but the bus stops are uphill which some people may find difficult. The food seemed a bit strange at first, but once you discover what you like it's really fine. One note of warning-the orange juice from the machine in the diningroom we think is diluted with their water, as my husband had a bad tummy upset so I would avoid this.

I would highly recommend the Cala Font and quite a few people said they were coming back next year.

We arrived at the Cala Font Hotel really looking forward to a great holiday. The hotel itself is the cleanest we have ever been in the staff are very friendly and helpfull.

If you wish to get a sunbed round the pool u have to be up and waiting for them to be unlocked anytime from half nine to ten. Everyone is sat round the pool waiting to put there towels on them then dissapear.

The food is YAK. we ended up eating out my little girl was eating bread roles for her tea. Mash potatoes looked like Chicken Korma, no one knew what it was till the chef told us.

We ate at the Paddock. Brilliant food u sometimes had to wait for a table because it was really popular.

The bars round the little street were quite quiet not much going on at all really. It is also very hilly no good for people with walking difficulties.

The entertainment in the Hotel was very Spanish no English music round the pool or English entertainment at night. If this hotel got good food good entertainment it would be excellent, as it is its just a lovely Hotel, Cr*p Food, and cr*p entertainment.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We have just spent 2 brilliant weeks in Cap Salou. You could not get a more idyllic location than the Cala Font Hotel. Every morning we woke up and stepped out onto the balcony to glorious sunshine and a stunning view of the sea and lovely little beach (clean), we also looked down onto the patio and swimming pool (which were kept scrupulously clean) and the lovely sun terrace which we often sat and enjoyed a cup of tea or a drink of another kind! Be sure to ask for a sea view when you book.

The rooms were very nice, tidied and beds made by the maid daily! Towels changed every 3 days or more if you wish. The rooms are supposed to fit 4/5 people but be warned there is not really enough room, especially for clothes hanging space and the pull out beds. As we were there for 2 weeks we decided to book 2 rooms, which were next to each other (be sure to tell them you want them together when you book) so gave us more space and that was great. Only gripe really is the marble floors everywhere, they do not give any insulation to the noise, so if you have someone in the room above who wears stilettos or is an insomniac then take ear plugs because you can hear them moving about.

The dining room was lovely, the staff cleared away the mess from other people from tables very quickly and the variety of food was very good, catered for every taste. There was so much choice, it really couldn't be faulted.

The staff were in a class of their own. They were ALL polite, courteous and always willing to help in any way they could. Any problems were dealt with quickly (the balcony door would not close properly, therefore the air conditioning would not work). The maintenance guy was there within minutes and had fixed it promptly.

The evening entertainment could be better as the same thing is repeated week after week virtually and it is not all that good, the childrens entertainment was particularly samey, but hey, the kids still loved it.

Just a few other notes of places to visit:

Go down into Cap Salou itself, that is quite fun and lively at night, especially Mickys Bar and The Local Tap House (they sell English Beer and Stella!)Cap Salou has just the right amount of noise and 'fun' element and not full of rowdy drunks (not when we were there anyway!) If you want a much more lively place then go to Salou itself (Between 5 & 6 euros for 4 on bus) Port Aventura is brilliant, especially Stampida and Dragon Khan!!

Tarragona is a lovely place to visit, especially the Cathedral. And a must-do if you can get there is the mountains at Monserrat - absolutely stunning.

Well, I have gone on and on probably a bit too much about the fantastic time we all had. Would we go there again? What do you think!!

Oh and by the way, we would definately book First Choice again too, the rep Ian was always very polite and helpful.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We got this hotel on a last minute booking and could not believe our luck when we arrived.

The hotel and staff were great, the hotel was spotless and everything that you would expect.

If you are thinking about going to this hotel then i would not hesitate, and we look forward to going back there in the not too distant future.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The Cala Font Hotel is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting overlooking the beach.

The rooms were large, comfortable and clean. We had air con and a TV.

Meal times were excellant beakie, 8 till 11 and evening meal,6 till 10. The food was fairly good always hot and renew constantly so nothing a left stood for very long.

The hotel is in a quiet setting but only a short cheap taxi ride away from bustling Salou.

Kids enjoyed themselves in the pool and at kids club. The beach was also very safe for them.

Would definately recommend the Calafont hotel, their web site is www calafonthotel com
