My/Our Holiday Review:

We set off on the holiday after reading all the reviews feeling pretty de-flatted as there was only one good review about the place!!As this was our first family holiday abroad we wanted it to be a good one!

We arrived at Reus airport and after getting our luggage we were directed to our coach transfer (it only took about 30mins to get to appartments).

we had a rep on the coach who told us our keys were in the Maritim hotel next door to us.

The appartment was great the bedding was fresh, the balcony was very spaceous,

(and with a family of 5 you need it to be!)

The appartments are built above a car park but it is only what the people who live in the complex use.i had no problem sending my 3 children to the pool as the cars hardly ever moved when we were there anyway!

It has a security guard walking around at night.

The beach was lovely a little bit gritty but on the opossite side of the rocks(1 minute away)it is lovely "sandcastle building sand" the sea was lovely and clear and even warm!!My husband and son went to see Barcelona play while the rest of us went on a catamaran cruise these trips were sorted out by the reps

the restaurants are great there is every kind of food you could imagine my son even found a McDonalds!

a definate must is THE PIG AND WHISTLE the staff are great and the food was gorgeous and not too expensive!

PORTAVENTURA is a definate must!!!

costa caribe next door to Portaventura was good but if you get chance go to the AQUOPOLIS in La Pineda it was fantastic!!

it had dolphin shows and sealions the slides were much better than costa caribe!

The bus service to and from the resorts is very good.

if you are thinking of getting your Portaventura tickets when you get there dont because the 7 day for the price of 3 does not apply out there and you definately need more than 1 day at the park.

all in all it was a fantastic holiday and the reps help when they could

the maids made the beds every other day!

and every thing was fantastic so much so we are going back next year!!

hope you have a great time we did!!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

Spacious two bedroomed apartment, well equipped (ie. washing machine, microwave, toaster, coffee filter, iron & board - even pegs!!) with a large balcony. Comfortable for 4 but would not want to use the sofabed in the longe to sleep on - go for the luxury 3-bedroom aprtments which, we're told, are only in the sea front block.

The pool was kept very clean and although no loungers, the surrounding lawn was a pleasant change and it was good for an hour's swim before or after the beach.

The centres of Salou and Cambrils are 30 & 45 minutes walk away, respectively, but there is an excellent bus service for around e1.20 each - it doubles after 11pm, so a taxi may be cheaper!

The supermarket 2 minutes away, next to the Maritim Princess Hotel supplied all we needed, with a great adjoining bakers and greengrocers.

An excellent restaurant - "Guillane" - 5 minutes along the road towards Cambrils, next to the two Shell garages. Set menu for e22 incl. 4 courses plus wine, bread, water. Full of Spanish with crisp white linen table cloths, and very polite service.

Cheap and cheerful, the Costa Verde Restaurant just opposite "Guillane" served pizzas and all things Italian for just a few Euros and was more casual and great for younger families.

With the bikes (hired opposite the Maritim Princess hotel 2 mins away for c. e10 per day) we could cycle out to Cap Salou in one direction and beyond Cambrils for a couple of miles in the other - without going uphill or cycling on the road, so great for families, and fathers with a hangover!!

If you don't want to be in amongst the activities of a large hotel - which is available next door - but want to be right on the beach, then these apartments could be for you.

Great Holiday! Apartments basic, but clean, decent size, and adequately equipped. Balcony overlooked beach and pool, so we could send the kids to pool and still see them. Pool often empty except for us. All facilities of adjacent hotel available to use. Beach good, sea cleaner on the other side of breakwater (nearest to Salou). Went to Monserrat (good to escape the heat) which was a very interesting trip, and to Barcelona to see Fountains- fantastic. Good free street entertainment in Las Ramblas, Barcelona. Short Transfer from airport(30 mins).

My/Our Holiday Review:

beach still being built when arrived, when done quite small and very dusty Appartment was very tatty peeling and damaged furniture the curtains did not close in the main bedroom, everytime i tried to make the beds into a double the maids remaid them to singles.

The main table was broken and son caught his finger on the broken catch. The Bathroom toilets flush was constantly running, bulp faulty in there and toilet seat worn and loose. The room was the back (Thompson only had D block at the back) of the appartments close to the had and noisy train track, plus opposite the hotel next doors kitchen, so you had the extractor fan and the chefs constantly pushing the rubbbish to the bins in the street - they stink and are always full, they are emptied at around 2 am each morning. There is a tv on a stand which my dad caught his head on quite badly. Hot water enough for one childs bath at first. Light on balcony not working.

Informed Thompson reps about all of this only thing done was the hot water and light took 3 days, asked to be moved did nothing at all just wrote things down, if d block only then they could have tried to move us to the other side overlooking the pool ? very very useless and unhelpfull reps just avoided us, no kids club - no rep on the bus going or coming to the resort.

The hotel next door receptionists were more help than reps. Did not sleep for the first week due to the noise. Flight back they had run out of many things asked. Look right and left on the path as if you stand on the bike track and a cyclist comes along they with mow you down.

appartment very near beach had a washing machine in the appartment ! Quiet place

My/Our Holiday Review:

Accommodation was clean not to modern though, could do with an up date. we were staying in block C, lift a bit on the small side, appartment was clean plenty on storage space, luckely we were in the middle of the complex so we did not get much dissterbance from the road or train tracks, pool was ok no sun loungers though, had use of naigbouring hotel facilitys but not much for teenagers to do,

plenty of ( LOOKY LOOKY MEN ) though, selling everything from flashing necklaces to lewy viton bags, also women braiding hair, my niece has very long hair so they were going to charge us 80 euro but the next on only 50 euro so the next on we saw we asked how much and she said 60 euro so we told her we could get it done a bit further along the beach for 30 euro and she said ok, they just want the business so haggel as much as you can, we got some great deals i got a LV bag and purse for 40 euro and my brother got a cosher pair of rayban's for 12 euro, most of them dont know what they are selling half the time.

had a bit of a todo at the theam park bought 3 day pass and when we went the next day wouldn't let us ing so had to stand for 1 hour sorting it out while they found the recipt from the day befor, but all in all we had a great time, can highly recomend The Queens Pub great staff and dj is halarious, have a good singer on as well serve food all day every day and the prices wont put a hole in your pocket. loads of shops lots of water sports but expensive. but would go again.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Stayed in block E.Front bedroom very close to busy road and noisy railway. Apartments are built on top of carpark. We stayed in a 2 bedroom studio room. You have to pay 60 euros when you get there, but you get it back on your last day.Never used the hotels pool as it was cold and couldn't get a sunlounger as many were covered with towels even metal chairs. We used the apartments pool which is quiet deep for little ones, but warm and not packed. The lift is small, no good for a double pram.Apartments were clean and spacious.

A cheap and clean restaurant was the pig and whistle. We ate there most days.In salou is a mc donalds and lots of shops but sell the same things. We booked the theme park and a day in the waterpark and paid the price for 3 days and was able to use it for 14 days.Go to the theme park on a fri or sat and stay til late as there's a laser and firework display the kids loved it.Reps not very helpful didn't see them much.Lots of sellers on beach and round the bars selling handbags, sunglasses. We all enjoyed ourselves and met lots of nice people.

One word of warning.Be careful when leaving for you coaches it is very busy with lots of people coming and going. As we were going to board the coach one of our friends was tapped on her shoulder by a spanish lady and as she turned round her handbag containing passports, tickets, cameras=,money and a mobile were stolen from her baby's pram.Luckily she was able to fly home. But when she reported it to rep there had been 8 other people with stolen passports.Overall had a good time.Lovely weather but spoilt at the end by friends missing bag.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The apartment was very dated, you have to pay a 30 euros deposit on arrival, the apartment wasnt very clean there was dust under the beds, the sheets and towels smelt awfull as if they have been stored in a smokey musty cuboard, the shower ran out after two quick showers, also there was a ants nest in the hall, the lift isnt very big,get in 5 people if that!

their was a lot of noise heard from the main rd and the railway, night and day,the swimming pool is surrounded by a carpark built under the apartments,i nearly got ran over trying to get to the pool, but the pool was to deep for childen so we used the hotel martim princess pool next door instead, the staff there treated us like the poor relations, not very friendly,

outside the apartments walking down the rd,you see alot of bins lined up the rd sides which smell, also there was a dead cat which smelt awfull every time we walked past which cars kept parking over in the two weeks we stayed the cat had not been cleaned up,

there isnt alot for families here except the themeparks and waterparks they are great fun,but watch your belongings as my 7yr old little girl got her swim bag stolen, also take yor own food as we got upset tummys from eating the chicken and ribs at the themepark,

beware of fellas trying to sell you fake items every 5mins in bars pubs even the beach,so you have tobe very blunt with them,if you want to but gifts etc, dont go to the bonivistar market as it sells the same stuff you can get in salou, and cheaper,if you do shop in salou stay away from the keiko shops as they are quick and nice enough to take your money, but when we returned with the item not working they didnt want to know and we was egnored for 10mins untill a member of staff decided to help us and exchange the item, dont refund,

be careful of the pavements they are very slippy, the beach in cambrils is nicer than salou i think, this was my first time abroad and i was very disapointed, even the reps wasnt very helpful.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We had expected the bungalows to be basic, and on first sight they were exactly as described in the brochure. However, what we weren't prepared for was the stench from the drains! The bathroom was practically unusable at times and no amount of bleach or air freshenerr could make it any better.

The walls of the bunglaow were paper thin and you could hear everything that was said by your neighbours. The terrace looked straight on to a briseblock wall.

Between the hours of 10pm and 2am the youth of the campsite roamed the site making lots of noise, frequently they would gather outside the bungalow and if moved on, would simply re-group 15 minutes later - with this plus neighbours that talked in their sleep, rest was hard to come by.

The site itself was more like a shanty town - with hundreds of people crammed in where they could, every where you went you were with other people. As they allow dogs, you had to watch where you were walking as there was lots of dog muck.

The walk into Cambrils and the beach is more than 1km and takes about 20 minutes - once you have discovered the right route to take - and this is along dark country roads.

We lasted 3 nights and could't stand it any longer.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Wasn't expecting much for such a last minute cheap break but was pleasantly surprised.

Arrived at the campsite late to a closed reception, spotted a telephone on the wall which summoned a (non english speaking) guard, who showed us to our bungalow and told us to report to reception in the morning. The bungalows were excellent. Very clean and new looking, 2 bedrooms, living/dining area, TV, bathroom, kitchen and balcony. If I had to find any faults it would be the TINY bath (great shower though!) and the kitchen 'cooker' ( 2 hobs, no grill or oven) The bungalows are great if you want to be left alone to do your own thing whilst you're here, and as they are detatched you have no noise from neighbours.

The campsite itself was dominated by spanish holidaymakers, though was pleasant and quiet of an evening. The location could be a problem as it's a 15 minute walk to cambrils, which after 8pm you have to go via the busy highway.

As for Cambrils, if you are looking for busy bars, go to Salou! May bank holiday was DEAD, but a few bars and restaurants, if you want to eat well and a quiet drink. Really recommend the 'Marinar' seafood restaurant opposite the port, especially the Baked Sea Bass, a bit more expensive but cheaper than UK!

My/Our Holiday Review:

Hi ya all. Just got back from the cambrils bungalows today 16/07/07. Holiday very good, having a heat wave out in spain at the moment so need plenty of suntan oil.

We were a party of 4 and really enjoyed holiday, but a few tips about the camp and walking places.

The holiday camp is very good for kids. The pools are lovely but hard to get a sun bed unless u are up at the crack of dawn. Some of the staff at the bar are not very pleasant we found. Pizzas are not very nice either but the bungalows are air conditioned which is a big bonus. The bungalows are very dark inside due to all the wood in there.

The bakery on site is to die for opens 8.00 am so to get the hot bread be prepared to queue. Shops fine on the site also. You can purchase a barbeque set in the shops would advise to do this for the cool nights.

We opted to eat out most days. Come out of the complex at the main gates and turn left. Follow the road all the way down (there is a very narrow road to walk to get to front be careful when coming back if dark as there is no lights, pls keep hold of you children also as at the bottom of the road there is a used train track which you have to cross)trains rune approx every 30 minutes be careful.

Over the train track there is a shell garage which you can get local buses to cambrils and salou on 15 min intervals.

Turn right at the shell garage and walk approx. 10 min up the road. There are a couple of bars called The Mucky Duck and the Rugby pub, great meals and nice sunday lunches.

If you are back to the complex later than 12.00 pm u have to enter site through the camping site reception, which is to too your right as u come up the thin road.

Barcelona a must. The only thing in the camp was that the tennis cost 7 euros per player (which i thought was a bit steep) and the pool tables are 2 euros per game.

any way we enjoyed it hope u do have a great holiday and pls e mail me any questions you have

see ya mrs j kelly

Stayed in the bungalows room 16a for 2 weeks in august. We loved the thatched effect bungalows, the fact that you can open out the main door and you have a fantastic big kitchen. Pool is large with two small (fast)slides which both young and old really enjoyed!!!!!!!! Entertainment was quite good if you knew any other language instead of english!!Lovely grass areas and bicycle paths for children. Totally safe for young ones. Boys in particular would love this complex as there was an enormous amount of organised tournaments laid on. Cash machine, internet, pittza hut, restaurant, laundry, bar, supermarket and a fab bakery all on site.

If you are not a beach lover then you would never leave the site. Cheaper supermarket out through reception, turn right and cross at roundabout. Great selection. Only downside for us who like the beach is that it is a good 15 minute walk down the path, through rough ground, across railway line then take your life in your hands and cross the road!!!Front gate closes at midnight so use the camping entrance at this time. Resort itself is not up to much. Molly Malones Dirty Kip!!! Pig an Whistle fab restaurant!!couple of other tacky shops ..Same as.. Bus to salau e1.25 each. worth a visit.

All in all fab complex but lift it and put it nearer a beach and a better resort!!

just had 2 weeks here and loved it (been here before and would go back again)

its great for kids with a small pool for them with statues of elephants spouting water from there trunks and other annimals, and life guards.the big pool also has life guards something you dont see normally, with 2 slides and a swim up bar (great) the pool is huge with a stage in the middle for the night time entertainment. the site is spotless with cleaners all day long i even saw them cleaning the public showers at 23.45.they have a good supermarket, gift shop, bakery, internet cafe, laundery and a car wash should you feel the need. we stayed in a mobile home (caravan to you and me)with haven europe they were the cheapest £1350 for 2 weeks 6 birth mid range. we flew with ryan air to reus airport and got a cab 15 mins ride 35 euros. flight was £110 each 1hour 45 mins from stansted.all caravans have a bbq table and chairs and 2 sun beds outside.i bought a hammock from the shop with some rope and tied it to the trees outside our caravan and just chilled with a cold one!.there are lots of spanish/german/ french/dutch/english /italian people here many drive and take there own caravan. i was told its a 1000 from calais.

the on site resteraunt is great (alacarte) a good take away with home made pizzas and whole chickens on a spit. a burger bar that sells the usual stuff. all in all dont just sit there go and book you will love it. check out CAMBRILSPARK ES it is as good as it looks on the web site.just thougt salou is not far for all the night life though it is very busy. and the theme park not far 10 mins in a cab.

we went to aquapolis water park and not costa carribe cos kids are free with free sun beds and you can take you own lunch in as apposed to carribe (you can get tckets from the dutch couple that run the canvas holidays site. lovely people) in and around cambrils is not very nice with rude local people but has a nice beech. getting there is a bit dangerous cos you have to walk a narrow road and cross a rail track. if you dont fancy that try the other camp it is more centeral to cambrils. there is a link on the web site. cant think of any more to say just enjoy.{ THE HOLIDAY MONSTERS.}

we have just come back for a second time(august)we realy enjoyed ourselfs although we had a few storms the weather was mainly hot. the camp is spotless cleaners are everywhere all the time. there is plenty to do if you want to join in the activaties. the evening shows are pretty good with waiters that take your drinks orders from your table. the main swimming pool is huge with a swim up bar in it and life guards with first aid kits. the smaller pool is great for kids, with statues of elephants spouting out water.

we went with haven and paid £1400 for a 6 birth mid range caravan that i was a bit dissapointed with but not a big problem.

all in all this a great place.the only down side is the walk to the beach and shops via a narrow road with no pavements,( and very rude local spanish people that think you should get out THEIR way.) a small unmade dirt track and a rail track (sounds worse than it is but a problem for buggys and wheel chair users)that also led to the bars supermarkets.

WE HAVE BEEN TO SPAIN MANY TIMES AND ALLWAYS FOUND THEM OK BUT THE LOCAL PEOPLE AND SPANISH HOLIDAY MAKERS ON THE PARK WERE ALL VERY VERY RUDE AND ARROGANT WITH NO MANNERS WHATSOEVER.please dont let this put you off, we will go back one day. check out cambrilspark.es the other operaters there are canvas/haven europe/eurosites/eurocamp. and the site had there own bungalows. DONT JUST SIT THERE GO AND BOOK IT YOU WONT REGRET IT.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We have been to campsites for the past five years but this one has totally spoilt us for the future. It is absolutely immaculate and the bungalows are amazing. We are a family of five and it still felt very roomy. The air conditioning is a godsend. the grounds are very well kept and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the kids club - giving us a couple of hours break every day!

The swimming pools are spacious and safe for swimmers of all ages. The evening entertainment is fun - mostly tribute acts etc but entertaining none the less. There is a great crazy golf which is free for the kids at certain times. Great tennis courts.

It is just a short walk to the front at Cambrills - turn right into Cambrills not left into Salou - only a few metres apart but a world apart in attitude. Great beach front restaurants. If walking from the site there is a busy road to navigate or a railway to cross to be aware of that but we didn't find it a major problem even with kids.

As we drive there we have a car on hand which is helpful to escape the busy beaches and head down the coast to some quieter ones. The site supermarket is expensive but a new one has just opened within walking distance which is much cheaper.

Highly recommended!

We Stayed in a beautiful caravan, lovely and spacious, spotless and well kept, the park itself was lovely, 2 pools were great our son was in his elelment, well stocked supermarket and bakery also gift shop, also a laundery service but beware as this is very expensive as we found when we needed to wash sheets. The trek into cambrills isnt too bad, and the food at mucky duck and next door the rugby tavern was excellent and very well priced.

The beach in both salou and cambrills were excellent we thought, we would recommend to go to salou get a bus down to mcdonalds as we found this to be the best shopping area and also good food at the brown cow, further towards cambrills near the sanguli camping i would recommend the railway and also queens,

cambrills park itself is lovely and we will definately be returning, the only downside was the evening entertainment, all in spanish and very tacky....

My/Our Holiday Review:

We have just got back from our holiday to cambrils park bungalows so we are writing this while it is still fresh in our memories!!

The bungalows were lovely but were very small (i don't know how six people would fit in them!) and the lighting was very poor. The air con is heaven sent after being out in the boiling temperatures!!But leave it off during the night as you will be freezing like at home in the winter time!!!!

The park itself was great. If you are going with children it is the perfect place for them. There is a kids club, football pitches, basket ball, mini golf and loads more!

The pools are big and only come to waist height. When you first see the amounts of beds around the pool you would think there is plenty to go around, but be warned......even if you get up early to get your bed people will just throw your towels off and take the beds!!

The walk to Cambrils (Death walk along Death Road, as we came to know it by the end of the two weeks!!) is about 15 minutes along an unlit, unpaved busy road. Once you get onto the main strip turn right and you will come to Molly Malones irish pub and resturaunt. The meals here are fab and good value. On the other side of the road is The Rugby Tavern which is great for breakfast.

The beach is spotless and there are lots of beds untill after 1pm when they start to be taken. They cost 3 euros each. There are no water sports on this beach. You need to go to salou for the water sports.

Don't go to Barcelona with the reps as there is a bus service that takes you for half the price. You get the bus at any normal bus stop. You get a tour of the nou camp and you get to shop in the official club store. You then 2hours free time to go to la rambla which is great. There are loads of street entertainers which are really good. Then you go to the magic fountains, where freddie mercury filmed the barcelona video. these are really good. you get back to ur hotel about 12 midnight. Its well worth it we had a fab time!!

Port Adventura is the universal theme park. You can get a three day pass from ur rep but they do not tell u about it in the welcome meeting.u have to ask them for it. this costs 63 euros each for 3 days.u have to use the first two days consecutively in the theme then the water park which is next door. you then have 5 days to use the third day in either park. we recommend the theme park for the third day as it is huge.the are plenty of shows to see if you don't like going on the rides.the only trouble with the rides is the huge q's which can sumtimes b ova an hour!!that's why u need two days.the fireworks show at the end of the day (11.30) is not that good but there is a little play type thing in the water at the same time which is excellent.

Overall we have really enjoyed our holiday and would definatley go back again.Hope you enjoy urselves as much as we did!!!!!!

Was really looking forward to visting this holiday park after reading complimentary reviews and also their website. The park itself is very good with two excellent large pools, one with a pool bar, a good resturaunt, well stocked shop, bakery, 3 internet cafes, tennis courts etc..

Prices on site are 2.5e for a pint and about 8e for a jug of Sangria....quite reasonable We dined in the restuarant which is a la carte by the way (unusual for a holiday park!) a couple of times and the value and food was excellent! Tennis is 10e for an hour but we were on for about 2 hours each time and were never charged more! One point which should be featured in the brochure is that the park does not exchange Euro Travellers Cheques so you have to take a trip into Salou or Cambrils to change them and they charge a commission. Shop arround as we were stung on the first day - 5% commision but eventually found 2%

The disappointing aspect of the park is the bungalows. We were a party of 4 with an infant and we were led to believe that the bungalows were amply sized with plenty room for 6 people. How this would be possible I will never know....there were 2 extremely small bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with 2 singles. There is very little storage space, indeed we lived out of our suitcases and the lighting is terrible, even with all the lights on it is still very dark!

The worst thing about the bungalows though, is the lack of basic items for eg, there was no toaster, kettle, bowls, oven, grill but they give you a TV with Spanish Channels?!? Baffling!

One saving grace tho regarding the bungalows is the air conditioning which was excellent.

The Surrounding Area - The Direct Holidays brochure and the website stated that there was a courtesay bus every 15 mins which took you down to the beach/town. This was non existant. The direct hols rep denied all knowledge of this despite my offering to show him on the website and producing the brochure!! Without the bus to take us to the town, we decided to walk it.....big mistake!! The road down is a treacherous 15 min walk with no pavement and no lighting. As we had a baby with us, we had no option to get Taxis to and from Cambrils Port and Salou costing no less than 8 Euro and as much as 12. The area at the foot of the hill which we were told was Cambrils Town, is quite simply a tip. In order to get to Cambrils Port, which is beautiful, it takes a 1 hour walk at least or a taxi ride...and the other way to Salou takes a 30 min walk to old town and about a 50 min walk to new town. Despite poor reviews, I was pleasantly surprised with Salou, a lovely promenade with a lovely stretch of beach.

Cambrils Port is where we spent most of our evenings, with some great resturaunts, outdoor pubs and a lovely marina. The atmosphere here is great but the prices are a bit expensive!

Barcelona - Direct holidays were charging 40? to take you to here which was a bit pricey for basically a bus trip so we decided to take the train there 9.90? return from Salou train station. There are a few stops in Barca and I would recommend getting of at Passaig de Garcia which is right in the heart right next to Las Ramblas....Barca is well worth a trip but you can never do it all in a day....

All in all we enjoyed our holiday but were disappointed with the accomodation, the surrounding area and the service of Direct Holidays....I personally would go back to the park itself but only with better digs and once Cambrils Town tidys itself up a bit!

Agree with what has been said elsewhere about quality of this site. It is top class for families with young kids. Security has been upgraded for 2004, now more secure than Fort Knox.

A car is essential to get away from the nearby area (OK at best) but be aware no car is allowed to enter the site after midnight.. you have to park outside and walk in, which can be a bit of a shock.

If you are thinking of going to Port Aventura, consider the weekly / fortnightly tickets you can buy through Keith Prowse / Virgin. Doing 3 short trips really worked for us, having small kids, and there is easily enough to do. Arriving there at 5pm meant no serious queues.

If you have a car, Carrefour at Tarragona is just off the A7/n340 (not the toll motorway) and is very good value. Mcdonalds and Burger king nearby have small airconditionned play areas. A blessing in the heat.

The Complex had many plus's including 2 very large swimming pools which were excellent, a good choice of facilities including Bakery, supermarket,Bank Machine,1 Big bar and 2 Restaurants.Added to this there was an excellent choice of sporting facilities including Football,Basketball, Crazy Golf etc. The Complex was kept clean and was tightly monitored by security whom I thought were a bit over the top.The pools had at least 2 life guards per pool who were completely over the top in how strict they were. For things to do make sure you go to Universal studios(porto ventura)which is excellent and much cheaper than the states.

Now for the bad points.....Beware!!! for those who do not have a car, the resort is very much out of the way and getting to salou consists of a deadly dangerous walk on a very busy road that has no footpaths, getting back at night was scary and resulted getting in us getting taxis at night a lot of the time which were 8 euros a pop, so it worked out quite expensive.

Salou itself is a dump, the restaurants are very poor and it just seems really run down. It's one saving grace is a nice prominade along the beach. Would I go back.at a push, but it would need to be a big push.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We travelled independently, flying Easyjet from Luton to Barcelona, then train to Salou station. The trains between Barcelon and Salou are every 2 hours so you need to check times. We got caught out and had to keep a 1 year old entertained at Barcelona train station for over 2 hours. From Salou station to Cambrils Park is a 5 min taxi and costs between 6 - 8 euros.

Cambrils Park is excellent, just like the website. There is bakery, internet, supermarket, shops, take away, restaurant, bars, two huge swimming pools and sport facilities. It is split in two - campsite and wooden bungalows. We stayed in the bungalows. They are quite dark inside but plenty of space and there are 4 hobs, microwave grill/oven, fridge freezer and all kitchen stuff. We hired a travel cot for 3 euros/night, but there are no highchairs. The park is very clean, staff friendly and plenty of sun beds around the pools. Entertainment was family orientated. If you want discos and nightlife this isn't the place for you. Security regulary patrol the park so you felt quite safe and no noise after 12pm.

We used public transport and taxis to get around. We thought the taxis very expensive so never tipped, but train and bus was quite cheap. We were not impressed with Salou, so don't go unless you have to. Cambrils, Tarragona and Barcelona are well worth going to though. A little basic spanish helps, as there are many people that do not speak english.

A brilliant holiday in all, and will go back.

What a fantastic site.I would highly recommend Cambrils park for a great family holiday. We were initially allocated a bungalow just off the main road but once we'd spoken to the reception staff they allocated us another one in a better position. the pool was fantastic,as were all the facilities on site.

Cambrils port is beautiful, Salou is very comercialised but not as bad as i'd expected. Entertainment on site is ok but very cheesy..Went on a few trips, Barcelona sights, aquapolis, port aventura and bonavista market..what ever you do avoid bonavista market..it is a horrible smelly place and everything was CHEAP TAT. supposed to be a 3 hour trip but 30 mins was enough and we ended up getting a taxi back..When you venture off site there is a very dodgy rd with no footpath and no lighting so take care..

Just returned from the above Hotel,Ha Ha!!

My my, it was the ultimate disaster.

As you can imagine, husband, 2 kids the all inclusive sounded to good miss. Well they should have paid me to miss it!!!

Hotel rooms small and not tastefully decorated!

Staff by no means helpful!

Food always cold including childrens section, resulting in a number of children including my son getting bad tummy bugs.

Entertainment- Mini disco ok for the kids for 3/4 of an hour. Nothing remotely entertaining for adults.

All in all, a definate No No.

Well i guess i got what i paid for! The positives of this hotel are that it is clean, although basic. The staff are aproachable also.

The negatives are that the food is abismal! We went at easter which is a definate no no, The hotel is full of spanish pensioners at easter as this is subsidised by the spanish government. I don,t have a problem with pensioners but the hotel was geared to them, they did ballroom dancing in the dingy bar every evening and played bingo!

The hotel is only 10 mins drive from Portaventura which is why we choose it and although the food reviews were bad we thought that people were maybee being fussy! This was not the case, even the tomatoes had all black mouldy bits on them! Left over sausages from breakfast were smothered in mayonaise and brought out at lunch and dinner. There is a small section with deep fried food for the kids which was very greasy and my sun was sick as a dog the first night after eating it!

The only reason people may consider this hotel is if they want a cheap hotel nr Portaventura, where they can have toast and juice at breakfast(toast ok), and free drinks of an evening, i personally could not consider going back!

My patio doors would not lock and we had to ask 6 times at reception before it was fixed by which time we were due to leave any way!

The restaurant over the road owned by people from Holland did nice food and told us that guests from the hotel always end up eating with them by the second night, however they don,t do breakfast as thay said the hotel cannot really mess up breakfast!!

The resort its self did not have much to offer and Salou up the road is like blackpool!

My/Our Holiday Review:

The Cambrils Playa Hotel is situated inbetween Salou and Cambrils. It is an established hotel but requires some modernisation, there are cracks in the walls and the furniture is dated to say the least, whilst the rooms are spacious the balconies struggle to hold two people. There is a spiral stairway to the accomodation plus a lift for each of the two wings that make up the hotel.

It is essential that you have some knowlege of Spanish because this hotel is predominantly a hotel for Spanish holiday makers and the staff appear to speak very little and in some cases no English whatsoever.

There is a pool bar and an indoors bar although the pool bar wasnt open at anytime during our stay. The evening entertainment consisted of one night of Flamenco dancing and two nights of a local group who only sang in Spanish although we could relate to some of the songs can you imagine Eminem in Spanish!

There were other minor entertainments going on but they werent worth the trouble.

As for all inclusive, drinks were served in plastic cups that wouldnt have gone a miss in a vending machine and the snacks consisted of a burger n chips or a cheese toasty and you had to ask the bar staff for these and you didnt always get what you asked for.

The food in the restuarant was edible and well presented but i did expect a little more than PORK CHOPS at every sitting although i cannot fault the breakfasts they were excellent.

So overall my holiday in the Cambrils Playa was somewhat of a let down and needless to say we shall not be paying it another visit, and to give it marks out of ten, i would only give it TWO, which is more than the STARS that i would rate let alone the Three that it boasts

As soon as we arrived at the hotel the three rooms needed were available, also they said that because we had an infant with us a cot (at a small charge) would be placed in our room. The rooms were basic, however, there was plenty of room, clean, AC worked extremely well (too well as it got cold at times), towels changed every day, maids were very helpful.

Reading other reviews we were very surprised at how clean and tidy the pool area was kept. It was jet sprayed every morning and cleaned by the bar staff at night. Many reviews have stated that the pool area was WET!! well dah want do you expect. Some even said that the pool was freezing, yet when it is 35 degrees outside any pool is going to feel cold, yet it was really refreshing, plus to be honest it was probaly the best pool our group have had (this is our 8th holiday this year). Sudnbeds were plentiful, area around pool was spacious. The only thing we could say bad about the pool area was at the night time, there were still some puddles left in the entertainment area which could be abit slippy, yet these could be avoided.

FOOD - breakfast was OK, something for everyone. Lunch and Dinner was abit spanish - but then we were in spain!! We had to eat out some nights cos the food also got abit repeative. Snacks were available when the restaurant was closed and were the normal for all inclusive, eg hotdog, burgers, chips and toasties.

BEACH/ATTRACTIONS - The beach was beautiful and in Salou itself (taxi ride costing 12 Euros/bus 1.70 Euros) there are plenty on watersports to keep the whole family happy. The sea is ideal for younger children as it is shallow for quite some distance. Three of our group went to Barcelona to see the New Camp and at 37 Euros pp they said it was a trip that should not be missed. Also you could go to see the fountains at night which is unmissable.

All in all, this holiday was excellent value for money as long as you accept that you are in spain and spanish people do holiday around this area, they were friendly enough yet it is geared for the spanish

Food was very poor and repetetive a lot of the staff not very helpful with exception of the barmen .Entertainment is a total joke unless you like listening to taped music on a p.a system .We were on an A.I Deal and were told lots of entertainment on offer we went all inclusive to save costs but truth is we tried to spend as little time in hotel as possible ..In all a major dissapointment .

The hotel had very little Brit guests when we were there as it was filled with mosty Spanish pensioners .They were most unfriendly .

The hotel was ok. Very impressive. Staff were efficient but not friendly. Rooms were small. Ok for 2 people but the third (or fourth) bed is a camping bed suitable for small children. My 6' 16 year old son just couldn't sleep on it. Hotel did change it for an old bed. Food in the restaurant was always cold although they do have microwaves for you to heat up your food. Would advise you get food from the griddle - it's always freshly cooked and hot. The entertainemt in the evening was good. usually professional and good CLEAN fun. The daytime activitied for youths and adults was uminpressive but there was something taking place.

Excellent resort to stay in. We were between Salou and Cambrills. Cambrills is lovely.Although we had a fab holiday we wouldn't choose to return to this hotel.

We went to the Cambrils Princess in September 2006, having read mixed reviews particularly about the food..

The Hotel had a welcoming feel. The staff including at reception were very helpful.

The rooms were not big but not that small either with pleanty of storage for slothes and baggage.

The wall safe and a fridge was for hire and a fully refundable deposit had to be lodged for the TV Remote Control.

TV - well in English BBC News 24 and Euorsport so that could have been better.

The bathroom was certainly big enough with abundant hot water for both bath and combined shower.

Thee food was excellent with such a variety that it was often difficult to choose what to have. There was one regular complainer about the food. He was overweight and perhaps he was a fast food junkie. He always chose chips and something.

The hotel had a tennis court and a mini golf with equipment hire. Both were useable but could have been in better condition.

The pool and pool are was very good although the water was a little cold.

The location itself was sort of between Cambrils and Salou - perhaps not the best for our circumstances there being a disabled lady in our party. She has such a lot of pain that it was a long way for her to go in her wheelchair to either Salou or Cabrils. Having said that we did get to both by taxi which was at reasonable cost.

The beach was very nice but the description of gently shelving wasn't accurate. A couple of metres in and there was a drop down to waist height and you were soon out of your depth. Not a problem to me but I wouldn't rest if I had had young children with me.

Just back from 14 nights at The Cambrils Princess. I agree that the hotel is one of the best in Cambrils.

If you are looking for a Thomson Holidays run kids club forget it, all kids in the club were either spanish or french. This hotel I would say is geared for Spanish tastes.I enjoyed but I can see how it would not suit all.

Hotel was clean, but looking dated, stuck in 70s mode. Not deserving of its 4 star status.

The food suited me as I lived of the salad buffet, but if you are a plain eater, and want pizza, chicken nuggets, chips, for kids you wont get that here.

Cambrils is lovely, hated Salou, Blackpool with sun!!!

Only real gripe is few bars near the hotel, very noisy, some drunks. I would have preferred a hotel in heart of cambrils.Old fising village , with harbour, quaint streets, lovely resaurants. The opposite of Salou.

Hotel very clean, room service every day, Best looking hotel and pool in cambrills.we stayed at princess for 14 nights. enertainment a bit repetative , best night was abba night as it was nice to sing along to and some thing we know!!!. Kids disco twice a week, which is not enough and you spend a fortune trying to entertain them while waiting for the entertainment.

Being an ashma I developed a chest infection think it was due the trees at the back of the hotel, which looked like little balls of fluff,so when the wind blows it was it was snowing and sticks to your sun cream.

Had to queueing for food most breakfasts and evenings, a bit like being at school!!!when you got in we always found something for our taste, but there is not much for kids.

If you are going to portaventura and getting a 2day pass be sure to use them one after the other as we were not told and got turn away at the theme park.7 year old was in tears, we were allowed in if your willing to pay half price, we refused!!!150 E for 1 day. check date on the back!!!

We had a good time. Barcellona& fountains are brillent.

Where do you start ? First time abroad for me and my daughter and what a hotel to start off in . I had no idea what to expect but the hotel was superb. The rooms were very clean , the maids cleaned them every day and made the beds (handy when you are drunk !)We were half board and the food was good with a lot of choice but our only complaint was that by the time you got to your seat the food was nearly cold . There is a microwave on hand for this reason so it doesnt really become a problem. It is not the food that is cold but more likely the air conditioning in the restaurant but hey, am i being picky or what !

The pool at the hotel is very clean and well looked after and there is a hut serving chips and burgers and toasties and BEER and not too expensive.

The entertainment at hotel is awful . Ballroom dancing and flamenco and a very poor limbo/gymnastic act but you are not obliged to watch them so we never watched a lot of them.

Waiters at hotel are nice also but they expect a tip every time ,not that i didnt tip but they get you down a bit with their expectancy

The location of the hotel is about 40 mins from salou and 40 mins from cambrils but catching a bus off main road is simple and fairly frequent but the main road is very busy and right outside hotel (but we never really heard traffic at night)

We quite often walked into salou or cambrils but the weather was brill and it was a nice walk especially along the beach

there are quite a few bars local to hotel , the rugby club and the mucky duck to name a few

Beach is lovely but you get hassled by people selling glasses and hats but normally you only have to say NO once and they move on

All in all a memorable holiday

Was not disappointed the hotel very nice, staff friendly, food good the only complaint we would have would be the breakfast was always cold, whatever time we went, however they did have a microwave so a few mins and it would be hot enough to eat.

Went to Barcelona what a place not enough time to explore it all but we would love to back and the cambrills would be the hotel we would choose, far away from the main centre of Salou.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The first thing we noticed was that the entire resort of Cambrils and Salou has almost no real nightclubs or bars. In Salou, there are a lot of bars that are based around families as opposed to young people, and it was typical to see families having a meal and just staying in that bar eating as well as drinking all night. There are about 4 "real" bars there, "Blue Bahia" which was good, "Idols" and "Chaplains" which were open late and catered for young people, however played a strange mix of music that was a bit corny. There is 1 nightclub there too, Pacha, which is small.

On the whole, Salou was ideal for people who wanted to sit with their kids all night eating and having a few pints and a few packets of peanuts, possibly getting their hair braided on the way home...

As for Cambrills, the port area was really nice to walk around and had a lot of harbour side restaurants and shops and the whole place had a nice, lively atmosphere. However, again, Cambrils is not the plave to go if you are after good nightlife as well as the nice, quiet part of the resort. As i am 22 and my partner is 20, although we enjoyed lounging by the pool and taking the day trip to Barcelona (which is excellent by the way), Cambrils was just too quiet and boring to be honest. If you're a middle aged couple after a nice, relaxing, quiet time, then i'd say give it a try, but apart from that i would not recommend Cambrils.

The Hotel Cambrils Princess was clean, well equiped and had a entertainment every night, but in our opinion was not worth the 4* rating it is advertised with. It is at best a 3* with lots of marble everywhere to make it look nice. The food was OK, but if you like eating food that is well prepared and attractive, dont get your hopes up about this place. The food was plentiful and all you can eat, but the bacon at breakfast time was about 5% meat and 95% pure fat, the beans were like soup and the eggs were not up to much. The bread and croissants were the best thing about it. At dinner time, i cant fault them for the choice you got, but it was like chosing between a lada and a robin reliant, as opposed to porche or ferrari! Basically the food wasnt up to much at all.

Wouldnt go back to the resort unless it was free to go and stay there.

Daytime temp 32C, sun-factor frazzle. Night-time temperatures above 25C all night. Very high humidity for whole fortnight so several thunderstorms - v. impressive!

The Air-con in our room DID NOT WORK! Complained to reception four times about this, each time Maintenance came up, fiddled, said it was OK now ( a lie!) and left. Wife 6 months pregnant so an escape from heat was a real requirement. Eventually contacted UK travel agent (and a very helpful Thomson Holidays rep - credit to his company) because it was getting beyond a joke. When one of the receptionists said "maybe the room is like that" I didn't think he was joking. We were then offered a room change which we gladly accepted; NOTE this was 11 days into a 14 night stay.

One of the earlier comments is on the lifts, my 2 1/2 year old son got trapped in one of these for 10 minutes which was very traumatic for my boy and my wife. Although I do have several Health & Safety and Fire training qualifcations; I'm not a lift engineer, but I don't rate the guy that serviced these. Also I noticed several fire extinguishers about the hotel with no or low pressure readings, this despite the fact thet they were signed off as checked in April this year.

The general location is OK, yes the road outside the hotel is busy, but that means the buses to Cambrils/Salou/Port Aventura and beyond are frequent. Public transport is clean, frequent, relaible and cheap - just like it is everywhere on the continent.

Yes there is a railway behind the hotel, but that's not a disadvantage if you're son is a latent train-spotter. Besides there are no trains between 2300 and 0700, which is more than can be said for the noise from the road and the hotel entertainment experienced on the front rooms and those over the bar.

The hotel does look very dated inside but is cleaned daily and always appeared clean, with the exception of the toilets off reception. These seem to be cleaned daily (before 0730) and whenever they're subsequently filthy enough for someone to complain about them, which my wife had to do several times.

The dinner dress code is almost universally ignored by all nationalities (England football shorts, Spanish in vests - exposed armpits are a real hygiene risk where buffets and hotplates are concerned, Russians in...)

The restaurant - now there's a misnomer, a better name would be mess hall or dining room. The food was a long way below what I'd expect in a four star establishment. There was no a la carte option, and usually no vegetarian option unless you count fish or "don't put meat on your plate" as veggy options. Food on the hotplate was often lukewarm at best; the only way to guarantee hot food was to have whatever was being show-cooked that night. If you like chips with everything then this restaurant will satisfy you. Puddings were often not full defrosted. There are two coffee machines in the restaurant for breakfast, these dispense one cup of coffee at a time leading to very long queues for hot beverages. Most 3 star hotels I've been in (and a lot of 1 and 2 star) either give you a jug of coffee on arrival or have staff buzzing about with fresh coffee offering constant fill ups.

The pool is basic but good with an attentive lifeguard who does enforce the pool rules - eventually. The sun beds aren't supposed to be reserved but it doesn't stop people. The beds are cleared away at night and locked up. Am staff member unlocks them at 0900, by which time the towel carrying hoardes have been queueing for 15 min. Staff will clear the "reservation towels" if you request them to.

Pool-side food was basic but tasty and reasonably priced; though you wouldn't want to make a habit of it unless you like chips with everything.

The best days out are:

1. Port Aventura - check it's own website for details.

2. Aquapolis - 25 min bus ride; buses every 20 min from outside the hotel. Water theme park with dolphin and sealion shows. This is a top day for all the family, if we'd found it earlier we'd have gone several times.

3. Barcelona. It's 90 min to Barcelona by bus in theory, but it's more like 2 1/2 hours once you've picked up at the other hotels en-route. Three options - 29euro coach trip organised by your holiday travel firm - 19euro bus tour by the local bus company, or 11euro on the train. Taxi to Salou railway station is 7euro. Do the maths yourself, the trains run hourly, have clean toliets and some have buffet cars and the centre of Barcelona is 85 minutes away. Spend a few pounds on a decent guide book in the UK and do you own tour, it's cheaper and you'll have a better time travelling at your own speed, seeing the attractions you want to se not the ones the tour company want you to see.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Stayed in Salou 2004 so know the area. Found Cambrils very Spanish - where the Spanish go for their holidays.

The beach is lovely just mind the bikes in the cycle path!! There are some beach huts that are open on an evening and are very cheap - 2 pints of a lager and a coke less than 6 euros. The actual hotel was really nice adequate for our needs - my son loved the pool and would have been in it 24 hours if he could. Entertainment adequate, drinks in the hotel more expensive than the bars that are local. The only downside being the food and the staff.

The food in the restaurant was cold and did not cater for english tastes at all. I tried the calimari one night and was ill the next day - could not get it out of my head and I usually love food like this. My partner and son found it hard to eat anything other than chips and gravy. My partner found a metal shaving the size of a staple in his soup which he did report to the Thomson Holidays 's rep who took the piece of metal from him. In the restaurant when saying thank you to the staff for taking plates away you did not get acknowledged so by the end of the week I did not even bother!

If you go to Cambrils/Salou try and see the Fiesta of the Immaculate Conception it is brill the fireworks are fab. Cambrils is a short bus ride away from Salou. The buses themselves are regular and also take you to Port Aventura (worth a visit), Tarragona (again worth a visit). I would go to Cambrils/Salou again but would not stay in the Cambrils Princess. We had really bad flights going and coming back. We lost our room at 10 am and had to go right through to 2.30 am the following day when the coach picked us up. We tried to get our room but they refused - they would have let us have our room an extra day if we paid 140 euro - we used the hotel facilities to have a shower and clean up but it made it a really hard day and we would have struggled if we had young children.

I will not go Thomson Holidays s again much prefer My Travel. Sarah and Linda if you read this hi!!

Hotel camrils princess with out adoubt fantastic!,excellent pool,on the ball lifeguards, not the ones that would rather chat the girls up than do their job, staff very good.nice clean hotel, reception v good.evening meals good, breakfasts ok food at bit cold ,but there is a microwave to heat it up again! if you want a cooked breakfast..Downside mmm!! not many really, staff a bit too quick clearing your table,we had to take turns going for our different courses,if we hadn't someone else would have sat there upon return!

there is a railway line runs down the back of the hotel but we never heard it and a road at the front ,didn't hear that either,we had room 218,almost seperate from the rest of the hotel but still attached, pretty quiet there, balcony locks!! bit of a joke really we could push ours open even when locked !!so beware common sense need. ie lock things away, having said that did not hear of anyone getting robbed.

on the whole a nice place to stay. I would say the hotel is closer to salou then cambrils, but a nice walk to either, the main road around the resort could do with a good clean quite a lot of rubbish etc, most of the bars are irish around the hotel.but all nice try pure genius, molly molones to name but a few. didnt watch hotel entertainment, seen it all before ,but was always very busy so must have been good..

Thomson Holidays reps v good, only did one trip with them ( the day cruise) vgood. beaches vclean.sea looks dirty but isnt.nice prom in all not a bad place to go with children

My/Our Holiday Review:

Second visit to this hotel after an enjoyable holiday in 2004. This year we were glad to leave!

Last year, as we were three adults and two children,we booked two rooms so we had enough room. This year, I enquired if they had a room suitable for two adults and two children (4 beds)overlooking the pool. They said they could not guarantee a pool view but the room was big enough for four beds. We booked the hotel for 16 days and were given a room overlooking a busy road and a lot of noise from garbage collections, scooters and horns. We could hardly move in the room as the beds filled all the floor space. I asked at arrival if they would move us to a pool view once one became available but was told that all pool rooms were booked out to holiday companies. Why could they not have told us that when we made the enquiries? So be warned. No matter what they tell you, in the summer months an independent traveller will be given a room overlooking a busy road or a railway. The latter rooms make up 2/3 of the available rooms anyway.

The food in the self service restaurant is very good if you can ignore the obvious attemts to make you eat and get out as soon as possible. There were big queues to get in at meal times and the staff would take away your plates, cuttlery, glasses etc as soon as you put them down. Very annoying.

The entertainment repeats every two weeks and is only of average standard although a few of the acts they had were very good.

The area were the hotel is located is between Salou (big Blackpool) and Cambrils. It is worth taking the bus to Cambrils beach as it is less crowded, more Spanish and the beach is very good for small children. There are plenty of beachside cafes/bars serving good food at reasonable prices. The beach over the road from the hotel was OK but the shore sloped quite quickly and the waves were always that much bigger. Not very suitable for small children. At Salou it is wall to wall sunbeds- you can hardly move!

If you want to hire a car then use one of the multi nationals at the airport. They are 100 euros cheaper per week than the small operators at the resort.

Port Aventura is a must for all ages. If you dont like the rides then you will love the shows. Very very good. Book in the UK before you go and you can usualy get 14days for the same price as 3days. You need to book before the end of May though. Food at the park is mainly fast food and not very good. There are a lot of a la carte restaurants there but with two children we never tried them.

All in all the area is OK but the hotel position and attitude of the management rules it out for me in the future.

A quick summary

Restaurant- Poor, not what a 4 star hotel should be offering. But restaurant staff were very helpful

Bar-Again great staff

Entertainment-Very cheesy, typical Spanish entertainment, kids and old people will love it but teenagers will hate it!

Lifts Appalling, amazed they didn't break down

Rooms-Very nice, just hope you don't get put in a room next to the train tracks

Barcelona-Definitely worth a visit, higlight of the holiday. Must walk down Las Ramblas.Bus tour was very expensive

Hotel Crambrils Princess was a great hotel we stayed there for 2 weeks and it was great. We went half borad. The food was great it was a buffet so you could go up as many times as you want it was great. the only thing that was not good was the waiters in the restaurant the where not very plesant but other than that it was great. The rooms where cleaned every day. The Pool was great and the beach was just across the road just about 50k and the beach is great to.

when you go the costa dorada you have to go the the theme park PORT AVENTURA it is brilliant and go to the water park. When going to the theme park before you live home make sure you buy your ticket because it is really dear to buy on at the theme park you can buy the tickets from keithprowse com

costa dorada is a i would tell anyone to go to it.

Entertainment, better than usual.Cambrils quite and Spanish.Vilafortuny Beach accross not very clean, lots of sewage at times but lifeguards on duty at weekends.Barcelona 11 euros return on train, tours 38 euros. Bad points. Most children well behaved but there always a few screaming about till last thing at night other which the management do not enforce.Forget the dress code at mealtimes, beer bellies, shorts and varicose veins by the score.Management does not enforce this either.Other than that value for money

Location a bit out of the way, but buses regular and cheap. Hotel food not good, lot of fish and not very hot. Should not have been rated four star.

Took advice from Holidays Uncovered and asked for poolside room to avoid noise from trains, good move. Ask before your go via e-mail, they can't guarantee but did accommodate. Staff very friendly and helpful, especially the waiters in bar who do not speak a lot of english, so take phrase book.

If you go to Tarragonna watch out at the bus station for pick pockets, we witnessed one - very quick and professional.

Would go back, Cambrils and Salou lovely place, but would stay closer to one or the other.

We have stayed in a range of hotel around the worldworld, ranging from 1* to 5*+, I would possibly grade this hotel at around a 3*+ - 4*-.

The Hotel is situated between Salou and Cambrills, although there is a selections of shops, pubs, banks and resurants/cafes outside the hotel and of course the hotel is across the road from the beach - I would say this hotel is a excellent base for a great family holiday.

We have two teenage sons and the resort provides everything they need for a perfect holiday.

The bottom line I would say, 9/10 for overall holiday and would defintly return. Don't let some of the comments on here put you off, I mean so you can't get into your room until 2pm - well the previous guest do need time to leave, just remember you will be those guests at the end of your holiday!

My/Our Holiday Review:

Really got off to a flyer when we couldn't get in our room after being awake for 39hrs straight. Reception not very helpfull. When we did get our room it was at the back with a great big box thing right bang in front of our balcony. This was our honeymoon (no special treatment by way of bubbly or flowers or anything or a good room). Rep finally got us moved to the third floor, still at the back although it later turned out better if you want to get any sleep before the entertainment has finished.

People have commented about the trains going past but we didn't find them that annoying at all.

The pool is really good although a little cold to get in at first, can't understand why a 4* hotel charges you 3 Euro to hire an umberella for the day!

Entertainment vitually all aimed at spanish and older people ( quite a lot of waltzing and line dancing going on). There were a couple of good acts whilst we were there but not enough over the 2 weeks.

Found out on the second to last day that we were being charged 50 cents to much for a pint of lager the whole time we were there as were many others so be carefull you don't get caught as well.

There was pleny of variety for meal time and it was all good although I have to agree it wasn't always exactly hot. Deserts were plentiful and varied at each sitting, we both put on a bit of weight whilst there. The staff in the dining area were brilliant and didn't stop all the time it was open, very helpfull.

The hotel itself could do with touching up as it is starting to look a bit raggedy.

Port Aventura is a must and make sure you stay for the display around the harbour at the end of the day it is superb and you have to go on Dragon Khan it's fantastic.

The Quenns bar just down the road and Danny Boy's in Salou for a good pint of Bitter and some entertainment if you want it.

Day trip to Barcelona was a waste of money and time.

Bona Vista market was still setting up when we arrived but there was still lots to see and plenty of bargains to be had (more than just fruit and veg).

Several nights running we had thunder storms and on the first Monday of our holiday an enormous storm broke out. The hotel flooded as there was nowhere for the water to go. 3 people were killed when their car was washed into the harbour in Cambrils resort a couple of kilometers up the road. Turns our it was declared a national disaster. This did make a big difference to our outlook on the area. The beach was devestated, the roads ripped up and mud and water left all over the roads.

If you do go and the birds (budgies and parakeets) are still in the cages near the pool, can you do my mrs a favour and feed them some lettuce or apple, I'm not sure they know how to look after them except give them seeds.

Hopefully our holiday next year will be better, this was our first for 11 years and I have to say overall it was a bit dissapointing (not all down to the hotel though).

My/Our Holiday Review:

This hotel is a in a superb location, just across a semi busy road to the beach, lots of shops and restaurants on hand and a 10 minute bus ride to the theme parks. Something to please all ages.

We have stayed in many Princess hotels and I must say this hotel is one of the lower grade ones, although please dont let that put you off, although the decor is maybe not up to the ususal standard it is still a very nice 4* Hotel with the entertainment and childrens club being the best of any of the princess Hotels we have stayed in. My son is 14 and he said this was his favourite hotel, for fun and enterainment. The hotel staff are very friendly and accomdating.

Some of the rooms over looked the railway line to the rear of the hotel, I knew this in advance and I emailed the hotel and asked if we could possibly have pool view rooms. I did not receive a reply from the hotel, although upon arrival, the receptionist had a copy of my email and put us in pool view rooms, which was lovely as some nights having a 5 year old our evening was cut short and we could sit out on our balcony and watch the nightly entertainment around the pool.

The resturant was very pleasant and the food was up to the usual Princess standard, although the hotel operates a pass system to get into the resturant and this can sometimes cause delays - then again this stops non hotel guests.

The pool was very clean, and even though we went during the school holiday we always found it easy to get sun beds.

All in all a fab holiday and I would defintley return.

This hotel is more of a 3 star than 4 in fact we have stayed at better 3 star hotels in the past. The rooms are small and very basic but are kept clean and tidy on a daily basis ( clean towels and sheets ) The whole complex is in need of a make over.

Fridge Hire. You can hire a fridge for 30 euro for i week or 50 for 2 weeks.

Entertainment. This is more geared towards the spanish so learn the langauge before you go.

Food. Plentiful but on occasions it was not very hot and tends to get abit repeditive. The dining room can also get very busy we found about 1900hrs a good time before the mad rush.

Sunbeds. During our stay if we wanted a sunbed we had to get it before 0930hrs as after this time you dont stand a chance

Resort. Quiet with a few bars and shops and 2 supermarkets a good place to eat and drink for a welcomed change is The Rugby Tavern Serving great food with friendy staff. and always showing all the sporting events on sky.

Port Aventura. A must for all this place is well worth the visit and we reccomend the 14 day pass for the price of 3 well worth the money.

Public Transport. This is very good with buses running in both directions from directly across the road from the hotel and is very cheap.

Cambrills. The good, the bad and the ugly.

On arrival room NOT ready, so decided to change and head for beach, told to change in toilets,(missus very dis-appointed so far)

Got back to hotel a few hours later, room still not ready! 1st argument of day with reception. got keys, 4th floor, room basic with Camp bed for kid. (it Broke 3 nights later) Stepped out on to balconey (room 422) we all got a touch of vertigo.

balconey rail felt loose, so as we had a small child, I gave it a tug to make sure it was safe, came of in my hands! 4 floors up no balconey rail! trip to reception to complain, cue 2nd argument of day.

maintenance came up to fix it, simply reinserted 2 inch rawlplug and screwed it back up, unbelievable!! cue 3rd argument of day. Not convince by delicate touching of the rail as secure, I gave it a sharp tug myself and viola, off it came again.

Eventually they gave in and got an idustrial size drill, and put 10 inch bolts thru rail and in to wall, nice job boys, well secure now. (P.S. found out vertigo caused because balconey floor slopes DOWN away from room by 2-3 inches and into car park below, so beware)

If at back of hotel like us, be prepared. It was the noisiest b****y room I have been in. the timetable is, Trains running by every hour, the dulcet tones of taxi and coach drivers shouting at other from 6/7 am across the carpark and the guy with the leaf blower (WHY?) from 10am , which sounds like a large motor bike reving up and stopping continually outside the room for 2-3 hours(use a broom, senor it works just as well, and its quiet!)

Inserted ear-plugs after first day so no more probs!

Gave in and called truce with reception, after our initial falling out, they were ok

POOL. ok,little girl loved it.Games and aquarobics each day, played water polo with locals, great fun, but tiring!

POOL BAR. Good, food recommended (not pizza's tho)

RESTAURANT. food good, my missus is a foodie and she liked it,so must be ok.

Beach(2 mins away) PUKKA! Sunbeds, showers and sea, although could be rough. Beach Not crowded and bar right in front

(recommended at night,)candles ,chillout music, friendly, but get there early, as it gets very busy and not enough seats.

STAFF and service EXCELLENT,

(N.B try using spanish,) it IS appreciated and makes all the staff so much more friendlier. BAR staff very good, especially raul, but don't ask for a mohito,it's disgusting,Sorry mate:-)

*Missus recommends hairdressers in foyer by dining room, got hair dyed red and nails done, took ages over her but she lloked stunning, a great job, lovely girls and only 68 euros.

SHOWS very good, especially magic, acrobats and the guy balancing a sofa on his CHIN, Don't try this at home kids!

OUT and ABOUT

SALOU. Bus stop bar recommended

AQUAPOLIS.worth a trip

BARCELONA.Fountains (for 10 mins max)ramblas, take a camera street artist very good.

AQUARIUM. Good, but if you've ever been to one before....seen one seen em all.

best RESTAURANT. Opposite beach bar, beatrix? or something like it. Fish excellent so may have to book.

Best TAKE-AWAY. turn left out of hotel and head for salou, it's on the block before the petrol station and go kart-track.

Plastic chairs and looks a bit grotty, but do not be fooled, Chicken and bacon joint is excellent and the alaoi(garlic mayo) is to die for, and the ladies and guy who work there were really nice and friendly.

SHOP opposite hotel, friendly and the food and service first class, at the deli, ask to try a small piece before you buy, they don't mind because you will buy it,the quality of the food is superb.

Location is ok but leaving hotel and walking towards salou, it felt a bit grubby and rough.

Would we go back ? Yes, its a quiet resort and the spanish were wonderful and friendly but the hotel? maybe, but only if we could specify the rooms are NOT 422 side OR the Mysterious 112.

First impressions were very good. The reception area was imaculate with marble floors and lovely decor.

The rooms however were a little disappointing. We were a party of three, so we were supplied with a camp bed for our four year old but the rooms were only a double so floor space was very limited.I was also surprised to find they had no drawers, so looking for someware to keep your smalls proved difficult, however they did have a few shelves and one small wardrobe so dont go overboard with the clobber.

The restuarant is very busy so do try to avoid peak times, we found around 8.30pm - 9.30pm was the best time to find a table.

The food itself was not 4* standard, however it was edable with plenty of choice and we didnt have to eat out.A WARD OF WARNING dont try and take any fruit out of the restraunt, we did and were followed, made to hand it back and my husband felt like a crinimal.

The entertainment was very good some evenings with a good mixture. One night they had the four tops on, which I enjoyed very much.

All in all we had a good holiday and TRY TO REMEMBER A HOLIDAY IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT!

Were very disappointed on arrival, had to wait nearly 2 hours to check into room as rooms were not ready and coach loads of people also waiting to check in. When we finally got to our room after walking down a long corridor with thread bear carpet and a terrible smell, we were again very disappointed, very small room. We were on the first floor overlooking the very noisy railway line which almost shook the building when a high speed train went passed. You could also step over the balcony onto a flat roof which posed a security problem. We imediately went down to the reception only to queue again to be told that we could not change rooms. The Reception staff were very unhelpful.

When returning to the room we noticed that there was no mini-bar or fridge and no TV remote control. We rang down to reception only to be told it would be 30 Euros deposit for the TV remote!!!

This hotel is definately not to the standard of our usual 4 star quality. The whole hotel is in need of a refurbishment and is in a poor location. There are no towels provided by the pool area which incidentially is overcrowded and very noisy. The hotel is mainly crammed full of Spanish kids running around making a lot of noise, day and night. The food is very poor, not particularly hot and we were very disappointed that we didn't see any seafood until our last night in the hotel.

The only good thing about this holiday was the weather and the beach where we spent most of our time. There is a little beach bar overlooking the sea, that opens late at night where your can relax to tranquil music and get a bit of peace and quiet, this is owned by a restaurant that does a fantastic seafood platter.

Enjoyed our stay at this hotel and resort, we had a first floor room overlooking the pool with a large balcony(only on 1st floor rooms) only problem was it was over the bar and evening entertainment was a bit noisy but all quiet by 12.30 not too bad as long as you don't have little ones with you. The hotel reception was very helpful and would change your room if they could.

Tennis court and mini golf were available and in kept good condition. Some people were disturbed by the trains if they had rooms at the back of hotel. Sunbeds were always available so no need to race down to save them, might get a bit busy in high season. Restaurant was a little chaotic at times but managed to time it just right so we didn't have to queue. Staff in restaurant weren't very friendly and were a bit rude pushing past you, although they were very busy. But the odd smile wouldn't have gone amiss. Beach very nice.

If you want a nice, friendly relaxed bar visit BAR MARIUS just past the michealangelo supermarket, good food and great hosts Tony and Hayley really made us feel very welcome and returned here several times.Great for families.

Whilst staying here we took 2 days out to visit Barcelona, well worth it but wasn't long enough. really loved the city.Cheap travel on trains.

Theme park a must if you have kids with you a great day out. Got vouchers on Barcelona tour bus, buy one ticket get one free into theme park. Good value.

Also visited Tarragona and Cambrils which we enjoyed very much. Salou was a bit too much but we visited the market which was a typical affair leather goods, cheap T-shirts jewellry etc.

Went to water park at Le Pineda Aquopolis, good choice of slides and big pool with plenty for younger ones. Dolphin show was enjoyable.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The hotel was booked on the reviews given in Holidays Uncovered and although some were good and others bad we had no problems.

We knew about the main railway line at the rear of the Hotel so we asked for a high room over looking the pool and this was provided.Room view could not have been better as we we got the sun from noon till sunset.TIP!!! Try and specify room number ending in 55 through to 82 eg 256,381,476 etc.

The trains never bothered us much during the day as they went by the Hotel doing 80 mph. Several couples said that there were at least 18/20 freight trains(slow and noisy) at night and they heard every one. Other couples in nearby rooms claimed to have not heard a thing.

Best try to avoid the rooms at the rear as the Hotel has a no room change policy.Room numbers endind in 01 to 20 and rooms ending 83 to 99.These overlook the railway and the tennis court/amenity blocks/kitchens.Most guests said that the 1st floor rooms were noisey due to being over the bar and dining room.

The Hotel was generally fine though a coat of paint would not go amiss. All the staff were very good and friendly and the cleaners kept the room spotless. Entertainment? You have probally seen it all before and after a Sangria or 2 it does seem to improve somewhat.

Location. Halfway between Cambrils and Salou.A few bars are within walking distance which will suit all tastes. If you want a quiet/cheap pint with the locals go to La Grancha. Leave the hotel, turn right towards Cambrils, take 1st right aand follow the road round by the chapel.5 mins walk from the hotel.

Watch out for the strange Italian Lady! She will offer to translate your order in exchange for drin
