My/Our Holiday Review:

We went to the Adriana hotel in the certre of Torremolinos in September for one weeks holiday. We have been to Torremolinos before and really like the resort but not his hotel! Even getting a good deal on this break, didn't make up for the hotel. With it being in the centre of town there is no pool and the sun terrace is on the roof of the building, which we didn't think would be a problem, so long as you can sunbathe. Unfortunately the sun terrace is only open at meal times as you can only access it through the dining area. The bar is only open meal times as well and the meals were not great. Breakfast consisted of cold eggs , undercooked bacon or continental with bread which had been defrosted in the microwave. Evening meal had the same salad every night and the veg. was either tinned or frozen.

On the whole not what you'd expect for a three star hotel.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Our family stayed in the Adriano over the Christmas period. It is conveniently situated in the centre of Torremolinos, but the accommodation and facilities are disappointing and not what we would have expected from a 3 star hotel.

The rooms are spacious, but dull and depressing. They are furnished in a rustic style without any charm with a poor attempt to modernise with laminate flooring. There are gaps around doors, so you need to hope that other residents are considerate.

The food was okay, but with little choice of menu, most guests seem to stay on a B and B basis. There is a social room which was empty each time we visited it, but the hotel has no bar or cafeteria or entertainment. We have never stayed in a 3 star hotel before that didn't have a bar and we will not be staying at this hotel again or booking with Alpha Rooms.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Booked the Hotel Adriano on the internet and our flight with Easyjet. This was a short trip (3 Nights)for my birthday, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Hotel was clean, rooms had aircon (not needed) heating (needed)T.V. with some sat channels. Full bathroom bath/shower/bedet.Staff were very friendly but not "in your face".

We were B/B breakfast being continental. Good, but I prefer a full English.Torremolinos itself was fine for me, plenty of eating places, and if you so desire Macdonalds & Burger king.Lots of steps down to the beach but worth the trip, and there is a lift back if you can find it.It was £93 for three nights in the Hotel, and I thought that was good value.

My/Our Holiday Review:

This was a last minute booking at a bargain price, but the apartments were far better than our expectations. They were exceptionally clean and well equipped. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and any request was dealt with immediately. Towels were changed every day and bed linen twice a week. The location was very convenient for the beach and the town - the hotel has a lift which will take guests to town level saving them a steep climb up the hill or the steps. Although we were exceptionally pleased with this accommodation, it would not be suitable for anyone in a wheelchair as it has several steps to negotiate, and although ramps are provided they do resemble ski slopes!!!

There are lots of places to eat within the vicinity of the hotel. The Andalucian bar was very good and the China Town chinese restaurant on Calle San Miguel was excellent. If you venture to Fuengirola give the Wind Jammer bar on the promenade a try, excellent food and good value for money.

Although we have visited the area a few times this was the first time for us to try the train service - it is fabulous. Always on time, very clean and good value for money. We also ventured on to the cable car at Arroyo de la Miel (Benalmadena) and really enjoyed the experience - although it was rather misty when we arrived at the summit.

I would not hesitate in recommending the Aguamarina to anyone, and would certainly stay there again when we visit the Costa del Sol.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We went for a week to this hotel, All inclusive we are soory we did that because the food was very poor. being scottish we like a full scottish breakfast the bacon was all fat, the eggs were rubbery, no tomatoes, and no sausages we lived on toast or rolls all week for breakfast. and lunch the first day we went to the pool bar to get lunch we asked for burger and chips we got burger and crisps, so we ate out lunch the rest of the week, now dinner well what can we say if you like salads they were okay but the meat you did not know what you were eating they had no sign up say what it was, and when you asked they did not understand us big hotels like this should have a picture of a cow or chichen to let the quests know what it is. and the service by the waiters in the restaurant was very poor they did more time taking to each other rather than clear away tables or take drink orders. The accommodation was fine very large rooms and the maid service was very good.

If we went back again which I very much doubt we would on stay on room only and eat out Torremolinos it`s self is very hilly so if you have walking difficuties dont go.I must add the beach was wonderful and the sunbeds had a thick mattress on them very comfy, the shops in the main square was very goods and a lot of nice eating out places also.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We were having a two week holiday in Nerja but booked into the Hotel Al Andalus in Torremolinos for a 3 night "change of scenery" in the middle of our holiday.

We booked the hotel on-line before we set off and were very pleased to find a modern, stylish 4 star hotel, close to the amenities and the beaches of Torremolinos.

The room was extremely spacious with a double bed, a "put me up" for our 8 year old and a cot for our baby. Our room was on the first floor with a pool view. The marble bathroom, again very spacious, had a toilet, bidet, bath with shower over and twin basins.

Our stay was on a bed breakfast and dinner basis and the evening meals were adequate. Not a great deal of choice, particularly for the children, but adequate nonetheless.

There was entertainment in the evening which was the usual bingo followed by a "show" of some description. Not up our street but many of the guests seemed to enjoy themselves. The bar and public areas were very well furnished and spacious.

The swimming pool and sunbathing areas were clean and well kept.

In a nutshell, we would definitely return to this hotel. It was not crowded and many of the guests were middle aged to elderly (not many British as it is not advertised in the usual British holiday brochures)which made for a very peaceful atmosphere.

Torremolinos itself doesn't have a great deal going for it but the beaches are clean with soft sand and plenty of sun beds. The water park at Torremolinos was worth a visit and Calle San Miguel is a good place for the children to spend their pocket money on the usual holiday tat. The walk along the promenade from Torremolinos to Benalmadena was pleasant in the evening and the yachts in the marina at Benalmadena were something to see. The marina area at Benalmadena was very stylish and "grown up" if you are travelling without children.

The hotel is quality, located right on the beach, it is a 4 star but could almost be classed as a 5, we stayed B & B for 4 nights and made the most of the numerous restaurants in the vicinity, if you get chance try the Spanish Garden (about 10 mins walk) the food and service there was of he highest standard. There is an excellent promenade which runs for miles with many seafood restaurants along the way.

We enjoyed our stay there so much that we have booked another week there in 2006.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Just back from 2 weeks in Aquamarina Aparthotel in Torremolinas. Accommodation was flawless. 15/20 minutes from airport, staff friendly and professional, bar-food excellent, impressive reception area cleaned daily..really like a quality hotel. Pool fine, and management tried to manage the 6am towel-run. Beds available up to 9-ish. Mostly families, only few groups of lads....one incident where one group were asked to leave. Fault of travel agent that put them there really.

Torremolinas itself...not as bad as rumour has it. Decent beach minutes from hotel, usual Costa food everywhere. Old centre of Torremolinas more interesting, though the steps seemed to get steeper as the holiday went on. The hotel lift is a help.

Food-wise...the best places in Torremolinas are in Benalmedena !. 10 Euro taxi...and the Ben. marina is really nice. Almost Puerto Banus style. Even the best food lots cheaper than similar UK/Irish standard. Cigs/drink a steal for coming home.

All-in-all a good family location.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We had read the previous comments on this site prior to booking so had some idea of what to expect. We arrived at the hotel and were immediately pleased - the hotel is directly opposite the beach (no more than 20 yards walk). The room was a good size with twin beds & lovely bathroom, adequate kitchen area with all utensils & plates you would need. The accommodation was very clean & the balcony had a good view of the beach. We were on the 6th floor so were not overlooked.

We'd booked it through Sunset via the Thomas Cook website & now realise that Sunset cater for the slightly older traveller - the hotel was certainly geared towards the over 60s, especially the entertainment, but as that wasn't why we were there it wasn't a problem. The upside was that it is a very peaceful hotel (I like my sleep!) and in a good location - ideal for the beach bars/restaurants as well as close to the steps up to the main part of town.

The pool at the hotel is surrounded by grass so it's not always essential to rent a sunlounger, and whilst we were staying, there were not that many children, so it was fairly quiet around the pool. As for the main /uphill part of town, there were several bars/pubs and a few places to eat (Check out El Open Arms for friendly staff & karaoke, plus The Red Parrot for good food & cheap pool table) but we mainly found good food downhill (if you like good food & don't mind paying for quality then check out the Cetus - the hotel's own restaurant, to the side of the hotel). Otherwise there's El Velero (I think) directly opposite the hotel - great staff, great food served quickly & good prices, and fab to eat food in the sunshine right on the beach! Not much in the way of clubs, if that's your sort of thing - I think there's one uphill but we didn't bother.

The walk to Benalmadena along the promenade is lovely & worth the walk to see the Marina, and there are so many bars & restaurants along the way that you'll barely notice the distance. Be warned about the stray cats that wander around - there are loads of them in various states of gubbiness/pregnancy/streaming cold etc.

Being so close to Malaga the transfer from the airport was no more than 10 minutes, great for those not too keen on coach journeys.

Our rep at the hotel was not that bothered about selling any day trips to us & was so laid back almost horizontal about the whole resort, although I felt this was a mistake & could have made some money off us as I was keen to see the sights (after a few days of sunshine soon changed my mind!)

Overall a great holiday, really relaxing.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

We booked this as a last minute holiday in July 2004 and although it was named were unsure what to expect. All we can say is having travelled all over the world this was the best holiday we have had. The apartments are spotlessly clean, well furnished and in a fantastic position. From our balcony we looked out onto Bajondillo Beach which was amazing and where we spent most of our days in perfect sunshine.

The beach bar was brilliant, served the best 'tinto com limon' anywhere and the food was excellent, as were the staff, especially Sebastian. Of an evening the apartments are so well placed that it is so easy to walk along the lovel prom to the bars and shops - a favourite here was the Italian restaurant and Winstons Bar. Alternatively just outside the back of the apartments was the old town with steps leading up to St Miguel square with masses of shops, bars and restaurants. A great place to sit and people watch is 'Bobbys Bar' which serve the best satay in the world!.

We had such a great time that we have already booked to return in October. Whilst we were there some Danish and Dutch people were telling us that they had been returning to the apartments for years.....we can understand why. Brilliant place, fantastic location, lovely people....what more could you want.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We flew with Thomson Holidays s - the service was mediocre to say the least. The hotel is at the centre of things and having paid extra for a sea view room we were not disappointed. (9th floor) Although the weather was not particularly good for June we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The roome was spotless with free safety deposit box. The moni bar cost 1.20euro to hire for the seek and the cost of drinks was the same as all the bars around.

Evening meals are waiter service and both the choice, quantity and service was excellent. The one down-side was the bar staff. They spent more time arguing between themselves than serving. It was quite amusing for two evenings but after that we used nearby bars - all of which are excellent.

Entertainment at the hotel? - I saw it advertised but it was not appealing and with everything that is going on (on the bolcon itself), the nearby square and town streets it was not needed.

As for children - there were none at the hotel.

All in all an excellent holiday.

We have just returned after spending 2 weeks for the second year running in this hotel and can honestly say it is fabulous in all respects.

We read about the "bug" but this was nowhere to be seen by us.

Lucy and Eva are brilliant with the kids.

The bar staff Jeronimo, Raul, R.Miller, Jorge and the rest of the staff are all excellent and we found to be extremely friendly and courteous to us and our 8 year old daughter. We are going to town on Monday and booking for next years 2 weeks at this hotel. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE IN JULY 2008.

ENJOY THIS EVER POPULAR HOTEL.

We cannot wait for next year.

P.S

Anyone know where you can buy in this country, CRUZ CAMPO (the local lager) for my hubby he likes it lol.

Just returned from a nightmare 2 weeks here.Yes rooms are okay and maid service good but food is nothing special and if you have fussy children eaters then this is not for you.The "bug" certainly does exist as all my family got it and were very ill for 2 days and i dont think it could be down to my children overindulging as some people are blaming. Seems a bit funny everyone has the same symptoms. Entertainment not to bad for older people but my 2 yr old was severly bored and there was no safe area for him to run around.Spent more money on taxis and buses trying to find entertainment and decent food than anything else. To top it of were delayed 33hrs coming home and Thomson Holidays s were far from helpful!

Wouldnt return here and certainly not with Thomson Holidays s!

Stayed at Beach Club from 9-16 June 07,i was so worried about the "BUG" lots of people wrote about,i need not have worried at all, we saw no sign of anyone being ill, only people having a good time, lots of laughter, good entertainment (Lucy is great)the food was allways VERY hot, don`t think young children should get thier own food because of hot trays, good idea to have hand wipes as you enter dining room,

we did find most of the poolside bar staff unpleasant even though we asked for our drinks and thanked them in Spanish, they did manage smiles if you tipped them whenever you went for a drink. we had 5 hours in Gibraltar (plenty of time to shop and eat)we booked through an agent after seeing thier ad board on street corner (about 2nd roundabout from hotel)9euros 95 for the "express", well informed guide on coach, enjoyed this trip very much, been to "The Rock" before so didn`t want to see apes or caves again. word of warning do NOT try to bring more cigs or booze out than your limit, it will likely be kept off you. It happened to a young man on our coach. Sun lounger by pool? only if you get up very early, but plenty of loungers to go round,

all in all good holiday wish we`d had more than 1 week. If your concerned about past reviews, don`t be, I`m not suggesting the Beach Club has never had problems in the past but we didn`t encounter any, Go and have a good holiday.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We have just returned from our third visit at The Torremolinos Beach Club and felt compelled to put things straight as far as this hotel is concerned.

My family and I arrived for a ten night stay from 26th May to find that very little had changed from last year other than the downstairs main bar is now in the hands of the hotel and not franchised out as before. The service generally here is fine although the barmen could smile a little more, but then when people don't even use common courtesy to them then what can you expect.

The hotel rooms are fine although from our point of view I can't see us staying here too much longer as our daughter is coming on 12 and wanting her own "space" as generally you are all in one room; unless you get a family room that can sleep four and has at least one if not two separate bedrooms. They are kept clean and the towels are changed every day. If you want the best views then ask for a room overlooking the pool as you will be able to see Torremolinos itself.

The pool area is kept as clean and tidy as the guests allow. The guys behind the bar spend an hour or so at the end of each day clearing up rubbish, re-stacking the sun beds and hosing the pool area down. This task would be a lot easier for them if the good old British clientele managed to pick up their plastic glasses and general rubbish when they have finished sunbathing for the day. It makes you wonder what their homes are like!!

Finally the food itself is fantastic, and I really mean that. There is something for everyone; salads, pizza bar, normal cooked buffet food and show cooking most nights. There are lots of desserts to choose from as well. You will also find the normal fizzy drinks, red and white wine and fresh water. All of these are help yourself. Breakfast gives you lots of options but because I don't normally have time at home the English breakfast was fab. When entering the restaurant you are asked to use the antiseptic hand wipes to prevent the spread of germs and I must say I only encountered a couple of people not doing this.

"The bug" is nowhere to be seen.

Finally Lucy and Antonio are just brilliant. Their version of a couple of games of bingo each evening was just side splitting and the acts that perform are generally quite good.

We will probably book again for next May which for the time being could be our last for a while so to everyone at The Beach Club, at great big thank you and we look forward to seeing you again next year.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Accomodation at hotel was basic but spotless, maid service every day excellent and clean towels every day.

Whwn we arrived at 11pm at night got put on the 6th floor, I am terrified of heights and went to reception to ask for a low floor, no problem moved to first floor with no hesitation, reception staff polite and helpful.

Food in the restaurant was excellent, never had to eat out of hotel. I have been to 4* hotels and the food in this hotel won hands down. They had hand wipes given to you at the entrance to the restaurant which was a good idea especially with children. Good to see they still do this as they did on our last visit in 2004. Fresh bread rolls cooking in restaurant every day and lots of choice of meat, veg and salad, delicious deserts and ice cream. Wine, sangria, soft drinks and water available for dinner.

Pool area was great, pools were clean and the area around them was hosed every morning. Quite a lot of sun beds, though some people put down towels and went out for the day which is a bit unfair although this happens at a lot of hotels. Our daughter spent a lot of time in the pools which were fabulous, a good variation of depths. Also has a little play area beside the childrens pool with a slide and climbing frame.

Bar staff were very good with the exception of one who never seemed to get your order right.

Kids club was excellent for our five year old she could not wait to go to the club, Did lots of facepainting and crafts. The kids clubs were well attended.

Cannot really comment on the nightly entertainment as we went for walks most nights.

There is a bus stop outside hotel that will take you into Torremolinos for 1 euro 10. Not impressed with Torremolinos centre very old. I liked the location of hotel which was across the road from the beach although the road can be very busy and the spaniards dont know what crossings are for, they only stop if they feel like it.

The hotel had quests of all ages young and old and lots of disabled who all seemed to be having a great time.

The "bug" never heard or seen anyone sick. The first time we were at this hotel in July 2004 we heard about a "bug" but again we spent 2 weeks there and had one of our best holidays.

The weather was better than expected high 28 - 30 degrees never saw a cloud for a week.

Will go back again as a lot of the people staying there that we spoke to had been returning year after year. Another great holiday sorry to see it come to and end.

I was at this hotel last May and again in May this year with my mum and each time it has been FANTASTIC!!!! Honestly i cannot understand why there is so many bad reviews of this hotel.

I think the hotel is spotless, the rooms are lovely and there is a maid service every day. The dining room is very clean with hand wipes to use before you enter and there is such a variety of food to choose from.

The hotel is in a great location, you have the bus service which stops right outside the hotel every 40 mins or so that will take you into the town centre and straight up at the back of the hotel is the train station ( la Colina ) so it is so easy to get around. If you don't mind a walk you can walk along this beach front into the centre of Torremolinos, there is a bit of a winding hill up to the town centre but full of plenty of shops on the way up.

I don't understand 'THE BUG' thing, the hotel is honestly lovely and i do think it has alot to do with too much heat, too much food and too much drink for some people!!!! Everyone seemed to be having a great time, lots of laughs to heard!

There was a comment about the bingo being too expensive!! That is just sad, its good fun and after all that is what your holiday is about!!!!!!!!!

Please go to this hotel and make up your own mind, i hope you will enjoy it as much as we have!!!!!!!:)

Myself and family have recently returned from the Beach Club, and after all the reveiws I had read we were very reluctant to go. Once there we were suprised that the hotel was very nice indeed and the food was excellent. I did not really believe that this so called bug existed until myself and husband got it! It made us feel very ill indeed and after returning home both the children were ill and I myself still am on and off.

Whilst we were there it was true that elderly people were being taken into hospital with it, and having just heard from friends that we left out there, one elderly gentleman has actually died (obviously we do not know if it was due to the bug, but he went to bed not feeling well and did not make it to hospital).

Thompsons I am afraid are denying it is anything to do with the hotel, and it is hard to believe as the hotel is really very nice and clean, but something nasty is going around out there and I really would not reccomend people go!

I thought it would be safe to go to this hotel. One out of every group of people we met in the hotel was ill. My 81 year old mother ended up in hospital with food poisoning for two days and then we flew home three days early. They give you hand wipes all the time which should be a clue. Thomson Holidays s have as yet not been in touch. The hotel manager says we british bring the bugs with us, and the desk clerk says the bugs fly over from Africa. If this message stops anybody from going it is worth it. We have travelled the world as a family and never seen anything like the illness in this hotel. Did not read the other reports until we came home. Probably would not have believed them, but certainly do now. Do not take young children and elderly people over the door mat!!!

We have just returned from The Beach Club in Torremolinos and must tell you that this " Bug" really does exhist. It is not an exaggeration, people do become ill very soon after they arrive. The bug lasts between 24 - 48 hours normally and makes you feel very unwell ( shivers, fevers, severe vomiting, diarrhoea, etc etc.), some people were taken to hospital given injections and put on drips. After you have recovered it still takes you a few days to get back to normal. Make sure when you travel that you are prepared and take extra medication as it is quite expensive over there. The Hotel itself is clean the food is very good and the staff are generaly quite nice. The Hotel is approximately 20/30 minutes walk into the centre where you will find all the main shops, bars and night life.

There is a very cheap Supermarket ( turn right outside the hotel, walk up the road until you see a Dolphin statue in the middle of the road and turn right here), I do not think it sells cigarettes but it does sell alcohol.

The Annimation team (2 of them)! were awful, you had to find them and they did not care if you took part or not. If the weather was bad like it was for us you did not see them at all. The Bingo was 1.5 Euros PER TICKET and they played the game twice per evening, if you worked that out over your holiday it was an expensive pastime. You had the usually Parrot Show and people singing to backing tapes badly!! We had an O.K. holiday we were just unlucky that we became so ill.

Would we return ??? No we wouldn't.

just returned from two weeks at the beach club 8th march to 22nd march this was my 4th visit and i like the hotel even thou most of the staff find it difficult to smile.

but this holiday was a bit of a no no people were dropping like flies with severe nausea and the wildies this lasted in most cases for 48 hours. over 20 people ended up in hospital and i would guess that this bug affected about third of the clientel from my listening to the general conversations at the bar and pool area.the Thomson Holidays rep said there was no problem with the hotel but it was an airborne virus along the coast which i think was a load of hogwash .it has certinly put me off this hotel has it as other regulars to this hotel i have never stayed in a hotel were so many people were ill

Iended up coming home early from this hotel because my mum was so ill there, the reps are really playing it down if you look on trip advisor you will see people are still being ill if you go this hotel you will be wasting your money. Gasto can be a killer in weak and vulnerable.

Booked All Inclusive package for New Year, we were all very disappointed with the New Year's Eve GALA DINNER it was disgusting, we were served luke warm soup in a cup and saucer, sercond course was salmon, potatoes and veg again this was luke warm and to top it off we were served entrecot steak with potatoes and veg (luke warm) it was disgusting. The duty manager with the entertainment girls were sitting at the next table to us, and were actually served before us which we thought was a bit off as we had paid £500 each for this holiday. I spoke to the duty manager who could not apologise enough and thanked me for my complaint, he gave me a card to email a guy as he personally could not do anything about it. On my return home I e-mailed and to date he has not had the courtesy to reply.

We certainly will not be going back to this hotel. Other days food was acceptable there was always something you could eat, even if it was only a cheese sandwich.

My/Our Holiday Review:

All inclusive at the Beach Club for New Year, after a late flight, waiters served our Gala meal, before we went onto the new year celebrations that continued into the early hours.

Hotel comfortable and cheerful with plenty to see and do, there is a good selection of food and drink, its a little out of the way, but not really a problem as the bus stops right outside and the train station of La Colina is just a short walk away, cheap and easy travel.

Take the train to see the amazing Three Kings procession in Malaga, well worth it, the streets were absolutely crammed with people catching sweets thrown from the beautifully decorated floats.

Went to Benalmadena (which is really a continuation of Torremolinos) we watched a spaniard rob an elderly english man of his wallet, and after a short chase got the wallet back for him.

Beware Timeshare Touts, mostly Spanish, there was plenty of them about, stopping tourists and conning them into buying timeshares, we warned one couple that was about to be bundled into a taxi that it was a scam, only to be threatened by other touts.

Gibralter is still worth a visit only 7euros 50 to get there.

The weather was fantastic, not a cloud in the sky for the entire week, sunbathing during the day, but it does get cold on an evening.

The moral is don't carry wallets or handbags, use the hotel safe and only carry small ammounts of cash, but above all... dont trust strangers with scratchcards convincing you that you have won top prize and need to go by taxi to collect it... you'll return with 'MUG' tatooed across your forehead.

I took my Mum for a weeks holiday here in October. the weather was great and the position of the hotel away from the main town was perfect for peace and quiet. The beach is just over the road so we thought we had fell lucky on this last minute holiday. we met some lovely people there and every one seemed friendly including the hotel staff. I was appauled however when we stayed late one night drinking with about 10 other people when most of the guests were tucked uo in bed when a man in a space suit came into the downstairs bar area to fumigate it. the bar staff aid it was to get rid of mice. I am not so sure as the next day I was very ill with "the bug"violent diarohea and projectile vomiting and had to be hospitalized for 2 days on a drip. They said I had contracted severe food poisoning. We only ate at the hotel so I will say no more other than the holiday compnay I booked with did not want to know when I lodged my complaint!

We will never go back there again due to this and as a warning check what you eat first.

Booked this last minute...never again. It is too far away from anything so they have a captive audience. Food is awful and the cheap"free" drinks, do not even get me started. Entertainment is okay if you have nothing better to do. We only lasyed one night and that was enough.

A 15 minute walk along the back road towards the centre are a few English bars.

We loved The Bus Stop Bar, at the bus stop to Torremolinos. A superb couple from Oldham have the bar, Alan and Sue. They do the best breakfast we have EVER had, you have to try it. They also have a fun quiz and bingo 3 nights a week...we just missed out on a 500 euro jackpot bingo win. Alan is an ex entertainer and has you in stitches with his jokes.

The centre is a 10 euro taxi ride away and the San Miguel steps are a must...here is a tip, walk down them from the town centre and not up them. It is a killer although there is a lift available. Would not go here again but we would come to Playamar again.

Hi eveveryone going to this hotel not recommended.

just retuned from here and WILL NOT be going back if our lives depended on it.

On arrival all seemed well hotel spotless, rooms ok but all beds are in one room with one chair and desk between all in the room, balcony nice size (ours was facing the roof of the building)

dining room was nice clean and tidy exept for the food if you had chicken for lunch you can have it in stew or curry for tea if you wish.

my daughter 10 lived on pasta , son 7 garlic bread, son 2 mcdonalds every day which is about 1 hour walk away.

every one you speak to at least 2 in there party has this so called "bug" which we all had great pleasure in cathing.....

we might as well have gone self catering as we spent more time and money eating out at a little english bar JG'S (FANTASTIC BY THE WAY)

had to go to beach evey day to pay for beds as if your not up by 7am you got no chance in getting one side the pool(4euros to hire) with 8 in the party we kept the guy in a job each day with his wages .

reps dont want to know about any thing (so save your breath)

kids club only on 5 out 7 days for 2 hours stuck in a room drawing and colouring in which is not my idea of entertaining my kids.

take my advise stay clear of this place unless you want to go to experience what we did.....

(you then can have a review like mine)

We travelled out to the Costa del Sol after Thomson Holidays cancelled our trip to Turkey on the day of departure. On arrival at Malaga airport we were allocated to the Beach Club. The next morning we were hearing horrendous tales of holidaymakers being taken ill at this hotel. By day 3 of our holiday I had already come down with the illness, dreadful stomach pains, chills, chronic diarrhea & now upon return home sickness. Sadly, my husband and son also are ill with similar symptoms.

I would like to say though that the Spanish staff at the Hotel were excellent and a joy.

After reading reviews I was worried about this so called bug. I had one off day but rest of party were fine. Didnt hear of anyone else coming down with bug when we were there.

The room was lovely and spacious and was cleaned daily with fresh towels daily and linen changed at least twice in the week we were there. There was loads of choice for food and it was always hot though there may have been some recycling done, however chef always had special on on an evening. There were plenty pools for kids so not crammed in water. We did get up about 8ish to reserve a bed but that happens everywhere.

The resort itself felt a little isolated but there is a bus stop right outside and a train station nearby. Cant comment on daytime kids entertainmnt as mine preferred to play in pool all day. Evening entertainment typical for all inclusive but you cant expect much. Didnt have to wait long for drinks. Very clean people waiters clearing up regularly. All in all had a good holiday. Only downside was trip to Gibralter booked at local excursion shop. We paid extra for express bus, told it would only take 1 and half hours, however they failed to say that was after last pick up, which was a hour after we had been on, then passport control was so busy it took another hour to get through, all in all on bus for 3 and half hours and they wouldnt let us use loo! needless to say we complained on return but typically shop owner very rude so beware of 'express' buses.

But certainly the hotel from the cleaners to waiting staff everyone was friendly and we would go back again.

we have just returned from our 1 week holiday. this is the second time we have visited the beach club and we love it!!

The pools are large, crazy golf, little park and beach right opposite! what more do you want?

entertainment every night, professional shows i might add

The children love this hotel. The thompson club runs for 2 hours per day but the hotel club is all day. The adults are also busy with their clubs, pistol shooting, pool polo etc.

staff are very friendly, rooms cleaned every day, clean towels every day.

this is a 3* all inclusive hotel. Food was really good some days, we also had beef roast dinner!!! yes, and it was lovely.

All inclusive starts at 10am finishes 12am. bar closes at 2am.

This as we remembered was totaly family orintated but to our shock this yera a group of 26 AUSTRIANS came!!!!!

They caused a little upset within the hotel and everyone complained!! This was a little dissapoinring but in saying that we still had a fab holiday.I don't think that the hotel will be keen to allow groups like that again!!

I would recommend this hotel to older people and people with children.

I have just returned from this hotel and can safely say I will never go back there again!

I was very open minded about what to expect and on arrival everything seemed great, but we soon discovered that if you need a sun lounger you need to be up at 7 30 in the morning, and that you were miles from the centre of Torremolinos. The Hotel is situated directley next to a 'security hospital' and from the balcony you are able to see the 'patients' taking their daily exercise.

We were told that the food was the best in Spain, this couldn't be further from the truth, the food was VERY basic and bland, what you had for lunch you'd be garenteed to see on the tea menu fried and recycled. If you like burnt sausage and egg casserole this is the place for you!It s no wonder that one of our party came down with food poisoning on just the second day! By the end of the week just walking past the restaurant was turning our stomachs, therefore we chose to skip many meals and prefered to go hungry. Our first stop on our arrival home was MacDonalds!

This is supposed to be an all inclusive hotel, however you had to pay for the bottled water and some spirits. There is only one type of lager served at the hotel which is very poor and served in plastic half pint cups.

We went to this hotel in july- aug ,it was very packed and you had to be up at 7am every morning if you wanted to get a sun bed.The food was the same what was not eaten at dinner was then served up at tea time and it was sometimes there again at supper. When entering the dining room everyone was given a wipe for their hands which we thought was a good idea ,but after a week i got the bug.... sickness and up set stomach i was really ill for a day and a half which upset everyone especially my two children. The hotel could of been cleaner and even though the maids came in every day i never smelt bleach .

The staff wasn't very happy in the bar near reception the staff never spoke or smiled in the two weeks we were there. The pool was closed for almost a day with no idea why we asked the rep who said he would find out but didn't.We only enjoyed two shows in the two weeks and as for the girls running the evening entertainments was very nasty to children which again i thought was not nice. The night before we came home my husband came down with the bug... ,he also was very ill. But we had to be out of our room for 12pm and he had to sit in reception till 8.20 pm that evening with a pillow behind his head.

Only reading other peoples reports on this hotel has made me do one as i feel this hotel should be looked at before anyone else goes WE WOULD NOT GO BACK TO THIS HOTEL....

the evening entertaiment was very poor the staff in the day and at night were very anti children .some bar staff ok some very miserable . on entering the dining room you were given a wipe for your hands -why? as to thirds of the people while we were there including myself and my husband were violently sick and the runs spending 2 days in the room –bathroom Thomson Holidays reps tried to say it was a air born bug so why did the hotel have a resident doctor ? .never again.......

My/Our Holiday Review:

Returned from Beach Club a couple of weeks ago and can only just comment. We've taken package hols for over 10yrs and all inclusive for last 6yrs so we know hotels have good and bad points.Afraid, I'm struggling to find the good points about this one!

The weather and pool were good but that's about all.

The sickness bug got us at the end of 1st week. Like other people we read the reviews and thought because of the wipes etc, everything was OK. Luckily, only my husband got it there but my son had it on return. It was a really nasty bug. Everyone we spoke to had been struck down with it. We thought it food related and for the 2nd week only eat pizza/chips-just in case.

The entertainment was non existent, especially with 2 teenage boys. At 13&15 they were too old for the kids & too young for the adults. They were under 18 so they couldn't have the snooker balls or darts. They could only play snooker at 2 euros a time (cost us a bomb). The internet was in the hairdressers(when it was open). What 13 year old wants to be on a computer whilst women are having their hair done. For 2wks we had "I'm bore", "How many days till we go home" or "Can I have 2 euros?" If you have teenagers, think again before booking.

The rooms were clean but the rest of the hotel needs a face lift. The piano bar was the only place to sit indoors. It was dull and unwelcoming, the chairs were old and uncomfortable. The non smoking area was facing the bar and behind the bar, was the rudest, most miserable, old bar men, I have ever seen. We had to sit and look at them or sit outside on sunbeds cause you could only get a seat if you were outside by 8pm.

We have never felt the need to make bad comments on any hotel before, so don't think we're moaners. I would never recommend this hotel, it was very poor value for money and I'm surprised people are still being sent there!!

Came back from the Beach Club 3 days ago, have just read some reviews on this hotel, some say there was a bug going around. We never heard of any. The standard of cleanliness at this hotel was excellent. The rooms were cleaned daily, towels changed daily. Most of the hotel staff were very nice, as were the Thomson Holidays reps. We were given hand wipes each time we entered the restaurant (which is a good thing).Plenty of choice at all meal times. Chefs were out at evening meal cooking either meat or fish.

Entertainment was quite good, most of the children were well behaved & did as they were asked by the entertainment team. The only downside was the people who put towels on the sun loungers before breakfast& never went near them until later in the morning,(there was a notice asking people not to do this but was never taken notice of).

We would go back to this hotel again.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Check in at this hotel was very easy, no forms to fill in.

Rooms quite nice and good sea view. All 12 of us put on 10th floor, including my wheelchair bound mum in law even though skytours aware she was registered disabled, took two days to get her moved, had to point out to rep that she better hope there was not a fire, keys then appeared for 1st floor room at 9.00am the following morning. Piano bar area shabby, seats uncomfortable and net curtains filthy and full of holes.

If you want a sunbed be up by 7.00am or you can forget it, these are placed as close to the pool as possible and then the people on them spend all day "tutting" at the kids that splash them, so DONT put them there. We had go to beach to get sunbeds as so many of us in our party, this cost 4 euro's each and meant buying expensive drinks from beach bar this was very annoying as we were all inclusive. But I will not get up that early on holiday and hotel should not allow this towel nonsense anyway.

Day time entertainment staff all but invisible, one appeared to do water polo mid afternoon and another at night to do mini disco and bingo, she read numbers so quick and quiet was difficult to play anyway. If you want a seat at night to watch the shows be down there by 9.00pm or you will have to sit on the sunbeds you can't get in the day. Only two of the shows I saw were worth watching, comedian and hypnotist, was not impressed by the others. Kids play football to left side of stage at night around tables full of drinks, so of course the inevitable happened but as kids run round like lunatics most of the time getting drinks spilt down you is not uncommon.

Out of the 12 of us 7 got the bug to some degree and my mum in law has had it since we returned so that makes 8, rep now saying it "touch bug", she said she would get our rooms disinfected but to my knowledge this never happened, toilet only smelt of bleach once during whole two weeks. Some vomit stayed in our bath two days, would have cleaned it myself but had no stuff to do it, dried "poo" on outisde of one of our toilets on arrival and stayed there until we left, empty cndom wrapper under one bed, but guess that could have been worse. Doctor has a surgery in hotel Monday - Saturday so that should have set off alarm bells. Nearly every family we spoke to had some one with the bug, an italian family changed there flights and went home early.

One lady also told us her room had been robbed another had her bag taken from her feet while she was distracted.

The hotel decided to decorate outside area by pool, so cherry picker was used and areas blocked off whilst this was done. Would have been better done at quieter time of year I think. You will only ever get drinks in plastic glasses even at night. Queue's at bar not too bad as staff very fast. They do try to keep pool area clean but as most of the guests have no respect this was not easy, they left drinks cups, crisp and fag packets to blow about even though lots of bins. These same people let the kids run wild, wore sports wear even at night, had more tattoo's than a sailor and language to match and that was just the women. The food mediocre at best, lots of things recycled from lunch time to evening, if you vegetarian forget it unless you like salad and chips. Most of did not fancy eating in there as so many felt ill anyway.

We spoke to some people who go back year after year, we were so shocked to hear this because in all honesty not one of the 12 of us would ever step foot in this place again even if it were free. If you do not like kids running round, rowdy guests, plastic glasses, getting sick, no sunbeds and rubbish daytime entertainment, then this will NOT be the place for you. Think very carefully if you were thinking of booking this hotel.

My wife and I spent four days at the Beach Club (first holiday without the kids!)and had a wonderful time.

Hotel great - clean and tidy and the food was excellent - good choices, very tasty!

We prefer a session on the beach first and then finish off in the hotel, although I have to say that there is not much room around the pools for the size of the hotel so had to settle for the seated accommodation (but its near the bar so who cares!).

Heard about the sickness and on one day saw a brown 'patch' floating with the tide in the sea - wonder if there is a problem there? Someone told us the sickness problem has been evident throughout the costas.

Having stayed at family hotels and experienced all inclusive hotels, this hotel has rated very highly in my experiences.

Just returned from 1 week at the beach club, cannot fault the hotel as it is clean, friendly and well maintained. The food choice is excellant and the variety plentiful. The food was always piping hot which is good for buffet style menus. Staff work very hard to keep everything clean and flowing and the hand wipes given on your entrance to the hotel are a great idea and should be standard in all hotels. The only downside of the hotel is lack of space for sunbeds but we went to the beach over the road where you could hire a sunbed with mattress for 4 euros each, its close enough to keep nipping back to hotel for drinks.

All in all a good holiday, entertainment was very good and good for kids.

We stayed at the Beach club for 11 nights, We read some of the reviews before we travelled and had some reservations on what it would be like. The part where the hotel is situated is very grubby and not cleaned. It is right on the beach front, but you have to cross a busy road.

As for the Hotel, well what can i say If you want to mingle with rabble and play Bingo every night then its for you.

We had two small children who wanted to go to the "so called mini disco" the entertainment team for them was C!!p. If you imagine 30/40 kids trying to dance in a confined area to 2 songs, thats all it consisted off and if they got up on the stage before it started then they would get shouted down by this one really miserable girl.

The childrens pool is tiny and you have to get up at the crack of dawn if you want a sun lounger around the pools.

Myself and my wife were ill with the so called "Airbourne virus" that the holiday rep said was up the whole of the costa del sol but the whole hotel was dropping like flies...

We had very noisy neighbours, but in fairness to reception they did advise they could send a security guard up to stop them, but with the type of people that this hotel attracted we felt we had better put up with it.

The food is rubbish, just about eddable, and has for the evening snacks well if your happy eating the left overs from dinner that thats all your going to get.

There are plenty of bars and resturants dotted around and if you can manage a walk into Belamadena its well worth it as it is alot cleaner up that end.

So to sum up if your a family looking for a holiday with kids entertainment keep a wide berth from this hotel and if you dont want to become ill.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We have just returned from our holiday at The Beach Club Hotel and are glad to be home!

We too, both caught the 'dreaded bug'. We are actually lucky to be back at home as my my partner caught it on the night before we were due to come home. It would app-ear that everyone is getting it! It really wipes you out and totally ruined our holiday! I can't believe that Thomson Holidays are continuing to send people to this hotel when there is such a serious problem.

We booked the holiday last minute, but felt that as it was a Thomson Holidays holiday it was bound to be just fine - how wrong can you be. We had the same experience with the rep who told me that the bug was "air born" and was affecting much of the Costa Del Sol. Looking back over other reviews, the Costa Del Sol has been having this problem for years!! We should have twigged when we were given antiseptic wipes on entering the restaurant! At first we thought it was food related, but then discovered that many other people at the hotel had been unwell. One man that we spoke to on his day of arrival said he'd stayed there a couple of years ago and the bug was going around then.

The hotel itself, although in need of an update, isn't that bad. The bedrooms are spacious (handy as you could be spending sometime there) and are cleaned everyday. The staff around the hotel are really friendly - no complaints there. The pool area does get really busy, so set your alarm if you are planning on spending the day by the pool as on many days we were unable to get a sun lounger. Saying that, the beach over the road is lovely and there were always plenty of sun loungers with unmbrellas too, which were few and far between at the Beach Club. The hotel is quite some way from the centre of Torremolinos, but it was pretty easy to grab a cab (5 euros - one way).

The adult activities run during the day are mainly geared for men(archery, darts, water polo, killer pool). The evening entertainment wasn't that bad - good for families. Although again, it could sometimes be difficult to get somewhere to sit. The hotel really is for families with children. Not ideal for couples.

As for the food..it is quite difficult for me to comment on the taste of much of it as after being ill I was very put off eating there! They did cater for everyone, you could get your usual suasage and chips etc as well as some Spanish dishes. The did however seem to "recycle" everything. If it wasn't eaten at lunchtime, it was made into something for the evening. Egg casserole?? You certainly wouldn't go hungry.

Unfortunately due to "the bug" there is no way that I could recommend this hotel. It really does seem to be a big problem and looking over previous reviews, has had for sometime. It doesn't appear that its being addressed either! I can't help but think that the reps have been told what to say when questioned about it too. They were quick enough to tell me that a doctor would be available if needed. Apparently he visits the hotel everyday at 10.45!

We went all inclusive which was a waste of money due to the fact that after catching it on our 3rd day I couldn't face eating or drinking anything other than water for the rest of the week.

If you've already booked to stay...make sure you take plenty of medication with you!

would never stay here again!!!!

food poisoning for me and the mrs.first three days were great, the last four not so good.in bed or the toilet being violently sick with dihorrea.sorry bout the spelling of that!!That must be why the toilet is fitted so close to the sink so you can do both at the same time.had to pay to have an injection to stop me being sick and stop the runs, got my money back off Thomson Holidays saying it was a "goodwill gesture" and not an admission that anything is wrong here.Well it's appeared on holidays from hell and so I guess you take your chances.

first impressions were that its a lovely hotel and if im being honest, was enjoying it until the sickness.also a lot of people coming down with it?Feeling like that really spoils your holiday.we didnt eat for two days because we couldnt face it.eventually,we had a chinese meal at a restaurant close by.shame really as the hotel is really quite nice.

This problem seems to be ongoing which is not good for the hotel, and even more so it's guests!!!!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

I wrote earlier about this hotel, complaining and warning against people going here because of the virus. As you can see from the later reviews, this Hotel is still rampant with the 'bug'.

Well, I've now have a 'bug' -which is the same I have had since going to the Beach Club - called HELIBACTER POLI.I have been ill since the second day at this hotel - sickness, runs, chills agonising stomach cramps- all week! My doctor gave me a blood test and this came up! I've looked it up on the net and one site said it is food poisoning. I am now on antibiotics for 6 weeks on and off, and have to be carefully watched because it can cause stomach cancer and ulcers according to sites I've read about it on.

I have twice complained to Thomson Holidays , but they couldn't care less.

If you go here with a baby,do not give your him/her the 'false' milk!!

There were birds nesting all round the hotel, with bird poo everywhere.

I'll never go with Thomson Holidays again. The holiday cost me 490 pound. I must have eaten about 10 pounds worth.

My/Our Holiday Review:

After reading mixed reports we were a bit concerned about what to expect. On arrival at the reception, we were greeted by friendly staff, who spoke good english. One member of the party needed medication stored in a fridge which the reception staff were happy to store. After requesting low floor rooms when booking we were happy to be put on the 2nd floor. They had four lifts, which at peak times ( breakfast, lunch, dinner and after evening entertainment )were very busy, leaving you waiting in a queue for 10 mins which was a bit annoying with having 2 buggies.

The rooms were clean, and the maids cleaned them everyday. The restaurant had a good range of food, and different most days. The only downside is that no food is to be taken outside, there is no snack bar if your sitting by the pool you have to get dressed and eat in the restaurant.Out of the 15 of us only 3 people were ill which only lasted 24 hours, none of the 3 children had any problems after eating the food. But this didnt stop us enjoying our hoilday.

To get to the town centre is easy either a 20 minute walk along the front passing gift shops and bars ( lift to centre 0.50 euros or through a lane of shops with a couple of steps in between this is not as bad as people make out ) or 5 minute walk towards the back of the hotel you will find the train station a return ticket will only cost about 2.50 euro. From the train station you can go to malaga ( visit the shopping centres - turn left and cross the road once off train ), Benalmadena ( visit cable cars up the mountain, great views , horses and donkey and bird of prey displays. As well as a good marina, with shops, bars, and sealife centre )Fuengirola ( Biggest market on the coast ( tuesdays ) once off the train turn left, walk along the road about 10 minutes, )

A visit to gibraltar is well worth the money, either book with travel rep or go with independant tour operaters loads to choose from.to see the monkeys and boat trip to see the dolphins we saw approximatly 15 dolphins. the shops are cheap you can get most packs of 200 cigerettes for under £10.

A good hoilday was had by all would visit again.

My/Our Holiday Review:

To start off THERE IS A BUG AT THIS HOTEL!! I had Gastric Enteritis all week and was I hospital all the day I had to go home. I had tests and was told it was Gastric Enteritis. I believe it came from the milk which was sour, though Thomson Holidays themselves are saying it is a 'family bug'. I told people and found out LOADS of people had had the bug and babies had been in hospital. There had been quite a few toddlers and babies with it.

When I asked the Thomson Holidays rep why people had not been informed she said there are bugs 'everywhere'.She tried to blame sunstroke when it was 60 degrees, cloudy and raining when I caught the bug. Then she blamed the swimming pool, when I can't swim, so she said it was from drinking when I hardly drink!! I have still not recovered and spent my holiday spewng up and having the runs and chills. I hardly ate and starved myself for 24 hours. I went All Inclusive and hardly ate and drunk mostly water.

THE HOTEL

The hotel is mostly spotless, the rooms are cleaned everyday and the sheets changed nearly every day. Watch which side you are given a room on, cos we booked in Sepember and got one n the side of the vents- right on top of them!!!I took my suitacaese and marched downstairs and demanded a room on the other side and got one half a day later. There is no room round the swimmimg pool and I kept getting hit by balls so my friend and I stayed on the beach. The lifts take you on a tour of the hotel and are keen to show you every floor, thanks to unruly , undisciplined kids that constantly press the buttons. The food is mainly lovely and there is lots of choice, but that is no recompense for food poisoning. The milk which is 'false' is left out in the warmth. The staff are friendly enough not to be ignorant. The entertainmnt was ok , but I didn't see much of it cos I was too ill and it is outside where it was cold and rainy a couple of nights.

The RESORT

The resort looks a bit trashy, though the sea front looks nice. It is fairly cheap.A taxi to the hospital if you get the bug costs 8/9 Euros. The beach is grainy and dark sanded. The sunbeds are 4 Euros- well worth the peace they provide.

Go on a trip to Mijas if yu like little spanish villages and mountain views - it is absolutely gorgeous!Benalamedena is lovely and there are boat trips from the resort. The bus runs fron the out of the way hotel and costs 1 Euro 5 - when it bothers turning up.

TIP; If you get the bug DON'T TAKE ANYTHING for the runs , cos that is what kept it inside me- even though I never took anything for 4 hours at all - no medicine either and only resorted to tablets after feeling faint through not eating and spewing up.Drink plenty of water.Buy 'proper' milk for your baby.

My/Our Holiday Review:

This report is unfortunately going to read much like the one before this.

We too had read many rave reviews about the Beach Club and were very much looking forward to our stay there, assuming that all the bad reviews about it were from miserable grumpy people who always find fault with their holidays.....we are NOT those sort of people ( sorry for the assumption especially to those who had written such reports!!)

We have only ever done half board and self catering holidays and can quite honestly say that we will never do All In again!

Our holiday was booked through Thomson Holidays - Skytours, we have only ever done Thomson Holidays Superfamily before, and my goodness you can really tell the difference....

To start, at our welcome meeting we had one rep who did the usual welcome...but she was soooo monotone and seemed v uninterested and unenthusiatic about the resort and hotel, whereas when we have been before with Superfamily at our welcome meetings we would normally meet around 4 different reps who would bound around the stage and get you excited about your holiday right from the word go,...anyway enough of the comparisons.

With skytours the kids clubs are split into 3 different age groups, tots, team and tribe, whilst at the beach club, team and tribe clubs were both held together only allowing 16 kids per day and with a hotel of this size with as many guests as it has thats alot of unhappy kids who look forward to kids clubs, meeting new friends etc who were v disappointed because they couldnt go to the clubs. Also the evening clubs that the Thomson Holidays reps held for the children were only 2 hours long, an hour of that was spent with the reps taking the kids to the restaurant for dinner telling them what they were and werent allowed to eat ( which obviously is completely wrong because this is an All In hotel!)

I couldnt rate the kids reps at all, they werent enthusiastic, they didnt seem to enjoy what they were doing, as the season picks up maybe so will their personalities!

We felt that at this particular hotel, children under the age of about 3-4 are not catered for, there is no indoor creche or soft play area and found it quite difficult to keep our son entertained, all there was, was a dingy little slide.

The hotel run their own entertainment with a mini disco, again no enthusiasm, and then bingo which admittedly does have great cash prizes, and then not so good live entertainment.

The hotel room wasnt great, they managed to squeeze 4 beds and a cot into what looked like it should have been a twin room! However the maid did come daily to mop floors and change towels, often leaving us with just 3 towels for 5 people!

The restaurant was ok, but they do like to get the most out of leftovers! One day roast beef, the next beef in gravy, then beef casserole then beef curry, the same kind of thing happened with most meats and fish, the nicest thing was the pizza because it was cooked fresh daily.

Unfortunately at the start of our 4th day, our little boy who's almost 2 started having violent D & V. We spoke to several other people there who had also come down with this 'bug' and also people that had gone home had txt friends they had made and said they had come down with it since arriving home. We arrived home early hours of this morn and our baby shows no sign of improvement. They do have a doctor who calls at the hotel everyday for half an hour, this is obviously quite a regular occurance to need a doctor on site everyday...We are not sure whether or not this is a normal bug, or if it was the food or if it was the swimming pool water, because two of the pools were closed half way through the day one day and after asking hotel reception why, they merely said it was infected! We will hopefully find out what, if anything has caused it though, because our GP is going to be testing some samples. If it turns out that it was because of infected pool water or bad food i will post another review....so watch this space.

I do hope that for all those that have already booked holidays here that things improve for you and you have a better time than we did, and for all those who are thinking of booking here....DONT!

Please please think v v carefully especially if you will be travelling with young children or babies whose immune systems really arent strong enough for this bug, my sons been ill for 5 days now, like i have already said not showing much sign of improvement.

So to summarise...my advice would be dont skimp on cost....pay that little bit extra and go on a Thomson Holidays Superfamily holiday....i know we definetely will in the future.

Like the people before us, we also will NEVER reutrn to the beach club.

And please please remember we are not the sort of people that like to find fault with their holidays, we like to enjoy them and get as much out of them as we can....afterall we all work hard to pay for them.

My/Our Holiday Review:

After reading a lot of the reviews on this site we felt confident of having a good holiday at the Beach Club.

This is the first time we had tried all inclusive so it was a bit new to us but seemed a good deal compared to half board. On our arrival it seemed we had made the right choice the reception area was pleasant and the staff were friendly and spoke quite good english. However when we got to our room on the 8th floor ( we had asked for a lower room due to having the kids )we found the cot they told us would be there wasnt. It was lunchtime when we arrived at the hotel on Saturday 20/05/06 so we decided to pop down to reception to ask about the cot then go and check out the restaurant. The staff there seemed nice ( mostly ) and we were each handed an antisceptic wipe to wipe our hands on entry. The food looked ok and there was a reasonable choice and you just went and helped yourself to drinks.

Unfortunately things went rapidly downhill from breakfast on Sunday morning. I had what looked like an ok paella but later that evening i started feeling a little strange and shortly after going to bed had to get to the bathroom very quickly to be violently sick. This was repeated another seven times throughout the night until there was nothing left to come out. Thats when the dihorrea started.

After spending the whole of Monday in bed ( and the bathroom! ) i felt a little better on Tuesday and so we set off for the crocodile park a day late ( and well worth a visit but dont bother with the hotels "packed lunch" which consisted of a stale bread roll, a pat of margerine, a pack of four biscuits, a fairy cake, a mangy orange and apple, and a bottle of water each! ). Anyway i seemed to have recovered from the day before when after an afternoon nap my one year old daughter sat up and started being violently sick which she had never done before. This happened twice more and if it had carried on we would have called for medical assistance but she seemed to calm down and get some colour in her cheeks so we decided to go down for dinner and keep an eye on her.

When we stepped out of the lift ( of which there are four but they are very small and very slow and not uncommon to wait ten minutes for one to arrive ) she was sick on my wifes top at which point we went straight to reception to get them to call a doctor which they did promptly and told us to go to our room and the doctor would come to us. He arrived quite quickly and spokr reasonable english. He examined her and next thing we knew he was calling for an ambulance. It turned out he was also called to see another baby at the hotel with the same problem who was about five months older than my daughter. We all went together in the ambulance to the clinic and were dealt with promptly and professionally although there was a bit of a problem with the languige barrier at times. She was kept in overnight and we were allowed to take her back to the hotel Wednesday afternoon. In all we had to pay out over 130 euros in insurance excess and taxi fares and prescription charges. Not a great holiday so far.

On the Wednesday evening my wife fell ill with dihorrea and was also sick. This carried on throughout Thursday. Then late on Thursday evening our son became very ill and was violently sick and also had dihorrea. We flew back home on Saturday 27/05/06 hoping there would be no problems on the flight. This was the first time we have ever been on holiday and could not wait to get home.

We found out that in total eleven children and eight adults that we know about were badly ill during our stay. When we went to see our holiday rep to find out what was being done about the apparent outbreak and to inform her of the poor standards of cleanliness in the restaurant ie; floors not being cleaned and the microwave oven that we all used to heat up our baby food never being cleaned or the high chairs used by parents not being cleaned and a few other things she was very curt in her response and proceded to quote from a card she had obviously memorised that it always happens this time of year! All in all we had one day of a holiday, the rest of the time was spent either in bed or at the hospital.

At the time of writing this ( Sunday 28/05/06 ) my daughter is still not fully recovered and neither is our son. I can honestly say that we have never had such a lousy holiday and will not be going back to Torremolinos and will NEVER be going back to the Beach Club.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Before we booked the holiday we looked on here to see what people made of the hotel and saw it had got mixed reviews, but did lean towards being a good holiday. The hotel is a little old and will be in need of some renovation in the near future, but was OK.The maid service was excellent-rooms made up every day and new linen twice a week. ALL the staff were friendly, there was always "ola" heard.

The pool area is adequate, but would feel cramped in peak season. We went in May so the weather wasnt 100% all the time so the entertainment in the evening was all indoors which was probably the worse part of the holiday. Although it was watchable its all the same stuff you would have probably seen already, just done a little cheaper, but dont let it put you off booking here.

The food was EXCELLENT to say the least. There was always new food layed on each day-not leftovers put in a chilli! and if there wasnt something you fancied then the salad was always a good standard with lots of variety and colours. There was a calvery side to the meals and a Pizza section along with the kids area. The only downside to the meals was that there wasnt an area outside to eat so if you were by the pool then you would have to get dressed to have something to eat.

My/Our Holiday Review:

This is the second time we have been to the Beach Club in 3 years and we were not disappointed.

We hired a car from the airport and was in the hotel within 20 minutes of landing. The receptionist was fast and efficient and told us we were on the 10th floor....The room was big and had 4 beds in as it was classed as a family room, they took a bed out the next day as it blocked the access somewhat to the balcony. The views were wonderful, overlooking the sea and we had the sun from about 4pm until it set which was lovely to sit out in the evening.

The meals were again of a very high standard and catered for all, it was piping hot and very varied, including lobster as well. We don't drink very much, but others did!!! we had a packed picnic as were going out for the day, that was handy as we didn't need to spend extra. The entertainment during the day was ok, the evening was great, good acts especially Jason Oliver who sang and danced for 1 1/2 hours and was very professional, give the comedy hypnotist a miss! Bingo( which I never play) was a must as it was for 300 euros for the full house, needless to say we didn't win. The hotel caters for all, and the rooms were spotless, with clean towels everyday and really white. We had loads of hot water anytime during the day and I am pleased to say that there was very little noise, having said that there were older folk there, not sure what August would be like with all the free drink.

THE AREA.

We have been to this area 4 times and seen it all, we recommend the trip to Ronda and Gibralter, but go it by yourselfs you will have a lot more time and it is so easy to drive to and well signposted. The trip up to the mountains by cable car (at Tivoli, give that a miss unless you have very young children with you) is a must and visit the birds of prey show, the chap who owns it is great and very knowledgeable. The weather was windy and he couldn't do all his show and he gave eveyone a free ticket for the marina show in town. We also went to Selwo adventure park at Estaponia, great day out, but we feel that the marina show next to paloma park was too small and needs only a 1/2 day to see it all.

On the whole this was a great break, we got this holiday on Thomson Holidays auction site, so it was a real bargain, we had heard from some friends we met there that they went through teletext and bought a week and got one free! can't be bad.

WEATHER.

not too bad, temperatures in the high 60's plenty of sun,but very windy, had one night of heavy rain and strong winds, and we were 10 floors up, the balcony furniture had to be bought into the room.....

CONCLUSION

we recommend this holiday to you, especially if you are a drinker and like you food.....
