My/Our Holiday Review:

We had a lovely time here. The hotel was very busy as it was the Spanish 'trades holiday', however there was still plenty of space around the pool. (although there are the inevitable people who get up at 7am to put towels on loungers). The food was of a good standard and always something for everyone. It was sometimes a bit cool, but there is a microwave to heat food up if you need to. The staff were all very nice, always helpful and polite. (especially the reception and animation staff). Our room was in the 5th floor and had brilliant views over the pool and garden (as well as the sea!). The only problem was the lifts...they were slow and often too full to use. However this was a small inconvenience.

Although this hotel was at the end of the resort, it was a pleasant walk along the prom to get to the busier part of town. The train is a great way to get around (station next to Torreblanca Hotel- 5 mins walk away), cheap and punctual. Only 2 stops (5 mins)to main resort centre. The zoo was definitely worth a visit and can be easily reached by train. We also went on Thomas Cooks wet n wild trip - Mijas water park & crocdile park. Good day out, but probably cheaper to do on ur own. However for convenience it was a good combined trip.

We had worried after reading some reviews but would honestly go back to this reaort and quite possibly this hotel. I guess its all a matter of personal opinion!

Hotel was nice clean and was always getting cleaned.Staff were friendly and helpful, they would go out the way to help you.

Food was ok,you would not starve anyway.Glad we only stayed for a week otherwise would have to went out for something different to eat especially for the kids.Snacks were a bit of a let down, cold chips dodgy looking burgers and cold hot dogs. You had to heat them up yourself. The week we stayed there was no sign of pizza on any the menus. There was a lot of Spanish there but if you dont stand for any their nonsense they wont really bother you, after all we are the ones in their country and they are allowed to be there on holiday to.The drink was not to great, could drink the beer all day and not even get tipsy.Dont like spirits so we would go the the pub just outside the hotel next to the beach(Slammers Bar).

Entertainment was average kids disco, bingo, parrot show.reptile show and the usual flamenco dancing.Overall the holiday was enjoyed by us and the kids but would not go back again.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Having been to this hotel before (6 years ago) not a lot had changed except for the evening actives which are now inside the building.(rather then around the pool)

The hotel is very close to the beach which is flood lit at night.

The accommodation is very clean and spacious, all with sea views.

The meals are very good, plenty to choose from (always a meat dish, fish dish, pasta, rice, vegeterian dish, different vegetables, chicken nuggets, fish fingers etc for kids)

The pool area is clean with plenty of sunbeds (although some people do get up very early to put towels on the beds)

you can book to use the indoor pool (for free)

The kids/adult games were excellent these included, waterpolo, darts, archery, boules, tresury hunt & other water games, ( and if you win you get a certificate, 5 certificates & you get a medal, kids love it)

The bar staff were very plesant, nothing too much trouble.

The only problem was the hotel seems to have a lot of spanish people there at the weekends, which makes it very noisey in the dinning room.

The hotel is about 25 minutes from the town centre (walking) but out the front entrance across the road to the train station which takes you to fuengirola town for about £1.50 or 20 minutes on the train £1.50 to torremolinos (they also do return tickets)

The trip to Gibraltar is great for seeing the apes ( who are very funny) but other than that it's not much cheaper for cigs & booze etc.

Watch out for the guys selling stuff in the streets!!

would visit this hotel again.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We had stayed at this hotel a number of years ago and thought it was brill, so did the girls. so we booked direct and gave it another go.

flights with easy jet ( one mad rush as per normal but not too bad for a 2 1/2 hr flight)

caught the train from outside the airport for less than 5 euro. and walked the 10 mins the other side.

hotel was just as we remembered - clean friendly unusually quiet. 11 year old loved it - won lots of diplomas and medals in the daytime entertainment. lots of other poeople enjoying it too.

then Friday came !!!!!!!! invaded by loud mouthed, ignorant, rude, obnoxious, arrogant Spaniards ????? and thier parents were even worse....kept up till 4am by 20 or so on the balcony below us with what sounded like a set of drums. i shouted, knocked doors to no avail. then quiet till 7am just before breakfast when it all started again. the children pawing the buffet, barging people out of the way throwing food etc. the parents as i said were worse - smoking in the restuaraunt, climbing through the windows making snide comments.

it was so bad that we were not the first to complain - not by a long way. spent our last but one day in the gardens with all the other people who did not want to be abused around the pool.

going home on the sunday (thank god we only booked for a week) other people told us that this had also happened the privious weekend. we enquired and found that this was the case most weekends.

newpeople arrived on the sunday, 38 degrees outside, to be told the pool was closed becaus a young **?/*? spanish person had sh*t in the pool.

couldn't wait to come home. boy had this placed changed. found families asking reps to be transfered as the thought of this again the following week was too much.

best part of holida - weather, food (most days) and my litte lad liked Lola from the entertainment team.

animation team were pretty good - bingo and english translations very funny -fifety fife and key to the window lol

would not book to go back again though

My/Our Holiday Review:

This hotel is not in Fuengirola as we thought , but in Torres Blanca which is about 4km from Fuengirola itself.

A bus ride is only 90 cents each and children seem to go free of charge.

The hotel itself is a 3 star and for what we paid found it to be very good, it was very clean and seemed to be very well managed, the staff were very helpful and polite at all times.

The gardens are excellent places to relax and sunbathe, the pool area does get very crowded and a bit noisy.

Other reviews say that a lot of children run amok and spill drinks etc, but in my opinion this is the parents fault for controlling them.

My 5 year old daughter had a brilliant time, the entertainment was good, while we there there was a mini disco every night 8 -8.30 pm followed by a show, eg parrots or reptiles followed by 1 game of bingo, then there was a more adult themed show 10 - 10.45 pm.

Overall the food was above average with breakfast being the best, the hotel was nearly full and we did not have to wait on getting a table once.

The lifts are a wee bit small and at busy times of the day are slightly slower to get to you.

All in all we had a good holiday but 1 visit to the Costa Del Sol is enough for me.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The Hotel is International, only a quarter of it was English when we were there so you did feel pushed out alittle.

On a couple of days when the hotel was at 100%, the restaurant couldnt cope, there were people with food waiting for a table, the staff couldnt clear the tables quick enough and the food wasnt coming out quick enough for the demand. The food was very hit and miss, but generally you didnt starve, but you do need to like fish and veil as it is served alot. The snack bar is inside, no food is allowed outside, so if your wet you have to dry off to get your "burger and chips"

There wasnt enough staff throughout the hotel to manage. One bar doesnt open till 5.30pm the other bar opens at 10.00am, but only has one person serving at two points most of the time and should a Spaniard get in front of you then they would chat and order extra drinks just to hold you up further.

The pool area isnt up to standard for a hotel of this size, in peak season when you need to cool down only a couple of dozen people can get in at any one time, its onlt 36ft round and 3 ft deep and no lilos allowed due to the size. And an even smaller child pool. There are terraces to go on,but its awkward to get food and drink from them and a hike for a "dip" in the pool.

The entertainment was less than average the highlight was bingo at 2 euro a ticket! lasting 30 min.

It is all abit long winded, the hotel does have alot going for it, but i think all the things that a holiday maker needs to know has to be known. If you havnt already booked then DONT, if you have then i hope your experience is better than ours.

After reading some other reviews, my wife decided to treat me on my birthday at this hotel for a week.

Upon arrival all appeared well, reception staff were polite, and spoke good english.

We were given a room on the 5th floor, the room was nice, overlooking the beach.

We found the walls to be very thin, and could hear the guests in the next room, they were a spanish couple, who seemed to enjoy a good argument every night until the early hours. the pillows came in handy to cover our heads.

The restaurant had a good selection of food, although not much information about the content, my wife had squid in rice, and had bad stomach pains later that night.

Entertainment, (what), we didnt see any in the hotel, just loads of kids running riot until 10pm each night outside rooms. Cant understand why hotel staff allow this to happen, you get that at home.

If you want a relaxing holiday in a quiet hotel, look elswhere.

My/Our Holiday Review:

I read a number of reviews of Gardenia Park, and was a bit apprehensive of what I was spending my hard earned money on. Boy was i pleasantly surprised! OK the weather wasn't exactly brilliant, but that can hardly be blamed on the resort.

The hotel was spotlessly clean, the staff were friendly and helful, and the food, plentiful, varied, and I'm delighted to say, hot plates (very hot) were available for hot food. Anyone with any complaints about the food must be either terribly picky or enjoy complaining for complaining's sake.

Same with the lifts. They were slow, and too small as well as being usually in the wrong place, but what the Hell! I was in no hurry, and i doubt if anyone else was either. What the short delays meant was i got to talk to people I otherwise wouldn't have.

Points out of 10? I'll give it 9 1/2.

I was single person on holiday on my own, and this is the first hotel in Spain that makes me say I'll definately be back, not maybe, but definately.

Everyone, management, catering, cleaning, entertainment, and of course helen, our tour rep, did us all proud. Here's to the next time.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We read the reviews before we booked this last minute 7 day break -- but - kept a open mind .

Tour operator was good , resort is better than most--but hotel leaves quite a lot to be desired.

Hotel good points are as follows . The staff are good-bearing in mind the things they have to put up with --mainly from the British visitors !!.

The rooms are clean.

The breakfasts are better than most hotels ive stayed in in Spain.

OK thats the good points - now for the not so good .

Rooms have wafer thin walls -- can hear everything--and i mean EVERYTHING.

The entertainment is dismal - unless you want to watch kids running all around the place screaming their heads off, knocking drinks over, lining up at the bar for their juices and cokes .After the mayhem finishes at 10-30pm comes the Bingo Bingo Bingo . Work it out !!

No music to speak of -- the place is like a morgue with absolutely no atmosphere at all .

Outside -- the pool area is always filthy with plastic cups etc littering every nook and cranny. Kids playing football there next to pool until after 11pm ever night .

Lunch and dinner -- same almost every day --but edible . Dining room overcrowded - people almost sitting on top of each other. Tables being knocked, drinks spilled and tempers getting raised almost every day .

10 floors high - so lifts are needed -

The slowest, smallest lifts ive ever encountered-takes a lifetime to get one .

To sum it up-- like a earlier reviewer said - if you have kids and want to go there dump them and let them run riot while you get drunk out of your skull and play bingo--then this is the place for you . If you want to join VERY long ques waiting to get a drink at the ONE bar thats open at night (with usually one barman--occaisionally 2)then this is the place. If you want a hotel with absolutely no atmosphere (even less than the moon) then this is for you .

One more thing to mention is THE SPANISH holiday makers who are there -mainly at weekends -- enough said !!Manners cost nothing .

We felt really sorry for the staff there - ive never seen a hotel that was as understaffed as this one -they worked very hard - but a lot of the guests didnt seem to show any appreciation--re tips --not even a 'thank you'.

Fuengirola is a ok place - very central for excursions also (which got us out of hotel). Beach is good -great comfy sunbeds there 4 euros a day . Good restaurants, good bars etc etc .

However -- my advice -- no kids -DONT GO to hotel .

My/Our Holiday Review:

After reading all the other reviews i felt i had to add my own, the hotel was spottlessly clean and the staff should be commended on this! We were All Inclusive and the food was, well, very average and repetative. The salads were very 'tired'looking two cold meats and cheese, plus the usual salad items. The hot dishes were mainly Pork and Veal, however the fish was always excellent! Always a pasta dish and chips with everything. The bar staff are very good and the drinks strong, but poor quality, (the brandy is the worst I've tasted in over 40 years)reception staff are a1 and you could not wish for a better hotel. The crocodile park is a great trip and the guide, while not a Steve Irwin, was very entertaining and extremely knowledgeable, and at 9 euros each, excellent value. the local bus service is very good 1.20 euro is the fare! Fuengirola or Torremolinas, doesn't matter!!!

We went down at about 9.00 am and got a bed in the garden area with no problem.

The Spanish oldies arrive on Friday and leave on Sunday.Do not let them push in front of you at the bar as they will have a go(they are rude but just ignore them we did)

Overall - Not a bad holiday, but don't expect much from the entertainment team, they are probably the worst I've EVER seen. Which is a shame because the two 'guys' are not bad but the girls can't sing, can't dance - get the picture. One good thing - the show area is NON SMOKING!

Overall not a bad holiday, but won't go again! I got back 7hrs ago, so thoughts are very fresh.

My/Our Holiday Review:

After reading all the other reviews i felt i had to add my own, the hotel was spottlessly clean and thats all they do all day is clean, we requested a pool view and thats what we got. the food is beautiful and as for people saying that it was a bit repetative it was everything but, you had a choice of all salad items and cold meats and there were loads of hot dishes to choose from ranging from ravioli to steak the menu changes everyday and is different for lunch than it is for dinner i enjoyed every meal i ate. reception staff are a1 and you could not wish for a better hotel. The zoo was absolutely fab def worth a visit its about 13 euro per adult and 9 per child

We also caught a bus to benelmadena it was 1 euro 30 per person and the marina is stunning all the bus stops are outside the hotel and there is a train station about 5 min walk away.

Now for the other parts i wont lie i did see the rats over by the kids pool but only first thing in the morning and thats because there is a hedge there which divides the hotel from a stream so i suppose it can be expected but we did not worry as the hotel was kept so clean that they had nothing really to come up for other than a nose around and they never came any further than the hedge (only the one rat we saw) Also we did see one cockroach but again the place is so clean i think they come for a nose and they cant get in because of grids by the doors i never saw one inside the hotel just the one outside and we sat outside every night.

A few reccomendations:

do get up at 8 and put sunbeds out with towels on if you want to use the pool as people are out there waiting to put them down from about 7.45.

Do not let the spanish push in front of you at the bar as they will have a go(they are rude but just ignore them we did)

Breakfast: try to go at around 8-8.30 this is the quietest time after that its waiting for a table time

Lunch: try to go around 1-1.45 again its the quietest time after that it gets full there and you will have to wait for a table.

Dinner: again go early they start serving at 6 so go as close to that as you poss can if you go at 7 you will prob still get a table but if you go after that you will be waiting.

So ok there are a few bad points there but i would still give the hotel excellent because it was just that, dont let those things stop you going to the hotel as if you do you will have missed a fab holiday!!!!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

We have just returned from a very good holiday at this hotel. Before we went we read all the reviews and was quite worried, but upon arrival was pleasantly surprised. Lovely room (VERY CLEAN) - abit on the small size for all four of us, but had sea and pool view with table and chairs.

On arrival we were all issued with colour coded wrist bands which entitled us to snacks as well as Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and free drinks up to midnight when you have to pay for your drinks.

From August there was alot of spanish families, which most of English got on with but unfortunaly there always have to be some annoying Brit, but there is a Pool Guard man who is also a First Aider and he sorts any trouble out - A very friendly man who dealt with our sons cut on his thumb - made our son feel special and stopped his tears very quickly! ( Boys...)

The pool is on the small size and the childrens pool is quite small but very clean. Both pools get Very Busy and Noisy during the day. You have to get up early to reserve your sunbed and always go for the flip-back ones as the others will hurt your back. There is a small indoor pool but no many people seem to use it and I did not see it being cleaned.

The gardens are lovely, a great place to get away from the noise of the pool.

The play area is small, and the kids can get quite dirty although they didn't care.

The Restaurant served a good selection of food. No left overs as others have commented on. The Bar is open at Lunch and Dinner time. You will not go hungry only put weight on! You can have as much or as little as you want, as can the children.

Breakfast is both full english, spanish, or toast and cerial. The choice is yours.

Tables get cleaned very quickly which is good. Restaurant very clean. None of us suffered from Spanish Tummy! The waiters are always busy but also very friendly.

The bar was excellent you can get 4 drinks per person at one time, but can go up as many times as you want and the drinks are NOT watered down so beware! They even serve Milk Shakes for little kids and big ones!

Evening Entertainment is held in the Victoria Lounge, where some English children are there by 6pm reserving seats for the family which became quite annoying, expecially when they became abit mouthy!

The Entertainment Crew - Corrina, Della, Mickey, Fido, Lianne and the lovely Billy were fantastic, very funny, Very friendly and was second to none. All was extemley hard working, working day and night to keep us entertained - we were there for 2 weeks and every night was different.Thoughly recommend the entertainment. They have a mini disco for the kids starting at 8pm, which was fab. You can buy a CD of all the mini disco favorite songs which is worth the money of 10 euros. Followed by Bingo at 2 euros per card, and a quiz which was fun.

The kids made loads of friends.

The only thing to beware of is the Security is poor - we are aware that 3 rooms got broken into and valuables that wasn't in the safe was taken, so its advisable to use the safe in the cupboard and lock the door on the way out of room.

The trip to Gibraltar is well worth the price, we have read that is cheaper to book outside of the hotel but its easier to book through your Rep and not much dearer - about 5-10 euros. We went on the Rock Trip, where we went to the Caves, then to the Barbary apes where our son had one jump on his shoulders, they are friendly but beware they can change their temperment, they had babies when we went. We were finally dropped off to do some shopping for over 2 hours, tax free bargains - £6 for 200 cigs and litre of Brandy for £3.50. (Only 1 litre of spirits per person) Drinks are cheap in the pubs. Great T-shirts but look around don't buy the first ones you see.

This was our first visit to Spain, abit disappointed with the sea, not that clean and clear as Majorica. The sands got very hot during the day but you could hire 2 sunbeds ( very comfortable) and 1 parasol for 8 euros for all day, recommended! Ice creams range from 1.40 euros each upwards. Newspapers can be obtained from one of the many shops for 2.50 euros. We recommend the Market which is held every Tuesday - you get a bus from just outside the hotel for 90cents each, worth taking the bus then strolling back via the Marina. The flamingo dresses are cheaper in the market than on the beach front shops. One last thing - men can watch English Prem football in one of the many beach front bars. Beware of Time Share sellers just say you're not English and they go away.

On the whole we all came home with great tans, great memories and all healthy (None of us got a spanish tummy and bearing in mind that one of us has a delicate tummy and has to watch what they eat). Would recommend this hotel to families but not if you want a quiet holiday.

We Have been to a few Hotels all incusive and this one is as good as any others, like any other Hotel it is hard to please every body.We never heard any reports of Rats by the swimming pool so hopefully that problem has been sorted.

We went for one week which is long enough for me in one Hotel, the food can be a bit repeatable but there is breakfast from 8am - 10 am then snacks till lunchtime then again between lunch and dinner then after dinner till 11.30 pm , so you can eat all day if you wish.

The Hotel is clean( maids seem to be cleaning all the time). the towels are changed every day and the rooms have air- Con.

The pool is not as big as it appears in the pictures and it is very busy , need to be down for sunbeds at 8 am to have any chance of getting good ones in a decent area, any one who prefers the quieter life, should sit in the decent size and well kept gardens. there is a good play area as well for small children.

The entertainment is no different from any other Hotel , the staff do well to get people involved during the day and at night the Kids entertainment is well attended, the Bingo was popular and seemed to have a top prize of about £160, then the caberet was as you might get anywhere on holiday ,shows, dancers , Karaoke etc.

we would certainly go back again to this Hotel and to Fuengirola.

This hotel is appalling due to the guests of the hotel. It is ideal for people who want to dump their children and drink the day and evening away and let their children be a nuisance to the other guests.

The rooms unfortunately do not have air conditioning and to be quite frank you will need another holiday to get over this one if you do go here. Walls extremely thin and we could hear the drunk next door vomitting when he came to bed, plus the constant banging of the doors. One evening found a group of teenagers on our balacony sitting on the chairs drinking. Had to call the security guard. Yes they have to have this type of secruity due to the kind of clients this hotel attracts.

Staff extremely plesant and helpful. Feel quite sorry for them. Nice beach opposite hotel. Pool is overcrowed and paper cups are just thrown by the sides of the loungers.

Word of warning do not book with Sunstars. Once they have your money and they get your booking wrong as I discovered the day before we flew they were not at all interested in helping and amending their effors to the detriment of their clients. They simply washed their hands and blamed the booking error on the agent overseas. Several letters to the Dir. of Sunstars and not one has been acknowledged. I was not even allowed to have their name to address it in person.

This hotel will not be for you if you are looking for R & R and a decent class of people.

Hotel - Very clean, rooms cleaned every day, towels changed each day if left in bath, staff very friendly and helpful.

Pool - If you like to stay around the pool in the daytime you need to get up very early in the morning to get a sunbed - if you have a pool view like us you can watch the wacky races of a morning.

Entertainment - reps very friendly, ents ok but don't expect too much. Nothing for the kids to do after mini disco finishes.

Food - Restaurant very clean, tables always cleared although we had to fight to find one in the first place. Food got a bit boring towards the end of the second week so we went to the British Bars opposite the beach - (slammers did good food) otherwise you could go home looking like a chip.

Resort very quiet but didn't take long on the bus to get to other towns, Fuengirola zoo well worth the money - very clean, animals well looked after with some very good shows, aqualand is another good outing with dolphin shows etc although a bit expensive for the amount of time your there.

Talking to one of the reps at the airport he told us that this hotel is going all english next year with creches and children's clubs.

All in all not the worst holiday but not the best either.

the hotel is in torrablanca which is approx 15mins walk into fuengirola. its quiet with outstanding veiws. food was good but beware first two weeks of july are the spanish holiday weeks and the gardinia does seem to favour them than the british e.g. meals and entertainment go more spanish. the hotel entertainment team do a good job in keeping children entertained although we heard some parents complain that their was no creche or facilities for young children which they had been promisede.

there was a bus stop outside the hotel to fuengirola and across the road was a bus stop to other resorts, also a train station that went to fuengirola and malaga.

the only complaint we had about the holiday was the rats beside the childrens pool which would come out in the evening and on two occasions we saw cockroaches in the hotel. a number of people complained about the rats to differant members of staff e.g. my travel and also hotel reception but when we came home they were still there.

if you get the chance you should visit the zoo it is in the center of fuengirola shopping center.

we would go back to fuengirola again but try a hotel into fuengirola or near the marina.

My/Our Holiday Review:

I read the reviews before i went on holiday and in my opinion the negative ones are not accurate. The hotel was very clean at all times and the staff were very good at their jobs. The restaurant staff were busy clearing tables and setting them again as soon as the table was vacated.

The food was very nice with a selection for everyone. The drinks were also very good, the lager was cold and the wine was very nice, both red and white.

At least 50% of guests were Spanish families with the rest being British, but everyone got along ok and we didn't see any problems between guests.

Although there was entertainment during the day and at night we didn't stay in the hotel for that so i can't comment on it. Almost all of the rooms have a sea view and the hotel is in nice grounds so you can sunbathe beneath the trees or around the pool or on the beach which is very nice to have the option.

There are pubs and restaurants along the sea front, but if you walk along to the Port area the pubs are more lively and busier. The London Pub was quite good, nice and lively.

Fuengirola has a very nice Zoo for people who like to see animals in a more natural setting, well worth a visit. We went to Gibralta for the day, arranged by the Rep at the Hotel, there are a couple of different trips to Gibralta and we went on the Rock Tour which was very interesting.

We will definitely recommend the hotel and resort to friends and family and would go again.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Having just returned from the Gardenia Park, i felt i had to add some comments to the site.

Entertainment Team - new in post and seem to think they were on holiday as opposed to the guests! Day entertainment was limited to water polo in the main, rifle shooting was pistol shooting and after haven taken part over the fortnight with over 50 other guests and only witnessing the taget hit twice - it left us wondering if we had potato guns

Some days the entertainment was cancelled if only a few people wanted to participate. Nothing ran on time

Food - todays leftovers, tomorrows soup or sald mix.....by the end of the fortnight we were sick of food that tasted much the same regardless of colour or type

Cleanliness - floors were sticky and tables irregualrly cleaned

If you haven't booked please please have a rethink. This cost us over £3500 for the fornightfamily holidqay and we were extremely disappointed. Our party ranged every age group under 16, under 25, under40, under 50, and an oap...noone enjoyed the break. In fact we couldn't wait to leave

Spanish oaps have been mentioned in other feedback - we met many and found them all to be very pleasant

Rooms - were clean and confortable albeit basic. Sheets and towels were changed daily which was a pleasant surprise

Also must mention the rep, who was the rudess, aggressive rep i have ever known in 20 years of package holidays

Everything about the hotel was first class, room, food and hotel staff the only disappointment was the adult disco 11 - midnight. There was a lot of Spanish holidaymakers in the hotel and for the first 3 nights only Spanish music (not disco music) was played. We requested some english music and were told they did not have any but if we had any CD's in are room we could take them down and they would play them. We explained that we did not expect to have to take our own music. They eventually found some English music and we may have had 10-15 minutes worth on Wednesday and Friday. After filling in our holiday questionnaires complaining about the 'disco' not 1 English CD was played at all on the Saturday night, in fact no one danced at all. I can only add that if anyone is going to the Gardinia Park and you like to dance please take your own CD's.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We have just returned from a great holiday, we read the reviews before we went and found them to be mostly untrue.

The food was great, hotel spotless, staff pleasent and the gardens & playground met well above what we expected.

Our son had a great time and had lots of freedom on the hotel grounds.

The only thing that annoyed us was the spanish pensioners, some of, not all, we found quite rude.

This did not spoil our holiday, but did make us laugh quite a bit.

The location is great as you have the option of walking along the beach front into the main part of fuengirola which only takes 20mins and has shops all along the way or sitting by the pool,in the lovely gardens or the beach, which is located at the back gate of the gardens and most rooms have a sea view.

Our holiday was made extra special with the new friends we made and will certainly keep in touch with.

In all this was the most relaxed & enjoyable holiday we have had and would strongly recommend this Hotel.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday in the Gardenia Park Hotel.

We found the staff very friendly and helpful, from the receptionists to the maids and the waiters. The gardens in the hotel are lovely and there are plenty of tables and chairs there if you don't feel like sitting by the pool or on the sun terrace. The main outdoor pool is a good size and there is also a paddling pool beside it.In addition, there is a small indoor pool with a jacuzzi too.

The restaurant served a great selection of food to suit all tastes and because it is buffet style, you can help yourself to whatever you want, as can the children, although there is also a children's selection. The entertainment staff were on hand throughout the day to invite people to play a variety of different games, for example, darts and bowling, but they were not pushy and did not try to force the issue, if you really just wanted to relax. The evening entertainment consisted of a children's mini disco at 8.30, which was good, but too short, lasting only about 10-15 minutes, and this was followed by a prolonged period of selling bingo tickets before the actual bingo started at 9.30. This is not really "our thing", but everyone else was doing it, so we joined in!

The entertainment shows started at 10.00 and were varied. One night we saw flamenco dancers and that was very good, and on another night there was a singing duo,who were quite entertaining. Being all inclusive meant we had to wear colour coded bracelets and this entitled us to snacks at the snack bar outwith the mealtimes of breakfast, lunch and dinner. The danger here is it's very easy to overeat! A lot of Spanish holidaymakers use this hotel too, and why shouldn't they?! I am surprised that some reviewers have written this as a criticism, as if only Brits are allowed to go on holiday to Spain! For the record, we did not encounter any rudeness from the Spanish people holidaying there.

This was our first visit to the Costa del Sol, having been to several parts of Spain before and we loved it,as there is something for everyone! The buses and local trains run on a regular basis,so although the hotel is on the outskirts of Fuengirola, everything is easy to get to. We went to the Crocodile Park in Torremolinos, which was a great day out and although we didn't go to the zoo, we heard lots of good things about it from everyone who did go. Another highlight for us was the cable car ride to the top of a mountain in Benalmadena, where there was a horse show, a falconry display, donkey rides and breathtaking views. There is a small cafe at the top, but it's expensive, so we had lunch after we came down in the cable car. We combined this trip with a visit to the Selwo marina where we saw a dolphin display and some very entertaining penguins!

We also went on a day trip to Gibraltar, which we booked through our rep.I have read on previous reviews that this is cheaper to book with a local company down by the beach, but we wanted the convenience of the trip My Travel offered, where we had a tour of the rock as well as 2 hours to shop for tax free bargains! Some people booked the "Gibraltar express" trip which was just being taken there and left to shop on your own all day before being brought home. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and the Barbary apes were comical - you can get out of the coach and take their photo. After we had lunch we were free to shop. Bottles of vodka, whisky etc. were very cheap and worth buying(£5 for a litre of Grouse).

Lastly, we had fantastic weather and came home with lovely suntans. We would like to go back to the Costa del Sol and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Thanks for reading our review and happy holidays!

I went with my kids wich are 5 and 9 and my husband. we thought the meals were exellant there was a few days there was food that was the same but it was still brilliant. The pool was very clean and there was people who came and played games like water polo, darts and lots more with children and even adults too if you won games you would get a certificate ,if you got 5 you would get a medal!other evening we walked on the sea front and it beautiful or you could stay up late and go into a clup adults only.Even in the easter it was in the 20s there was no air conditioning but there would be some soon.it is all sun and really hot there used to be a little cool breeze every 5 mins.everybody was nice to talk who was there.

although it is a 3 star rating i would say it was a 4 or 5 it was beautiful.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Second time of going to the Gardenia Park. The first time the family & I real enjoyed it thus the second visit. Two weeks cost over £2500 it was over priced.

Unfortunately the food was repetitive, meatballs were served six times through out the fortnight. I lived on soup and bread rolls most of the soup was yesterdays leftovers. The children had chips & salad, in the end we eat out. The drinks are fine, the staff are fine and the entertainment team gave 110% but some of the entertainment was at the best passable. That's not to say that the staff did not try, they were excellent with the children.

On our first night a Spanish family were shouting & trying to rip out the speaker wires out of the speakers because they were not enough Spanish entertainment. Although it was 80% full of British and British's reps were entertaining us. It transpired that other incidents had occurred prior to this.

The sun beds are an absolute nightmare. You have to be down at the pool prior to eight o'clock as that, the time they are unlocked. It's like a feeding frenzy at the zoo if you do not grab your beds quick the best one's will go. People gang up and take a full stack of the best sun beds. You are then faced with your next challenge, trying to get a spot near to the hedgerow on the left hand side of the pool. The sun reaches this area early morning. If you are forced further round the pool you will not get the sun until midday. If you do get a good spot don't be surprised when you return from breakfast & find someone has moved them to squeeze in their beds. We went for dinner at 7.30 to allow us to get a seat near to the front in the Victoria lounge so the children could watch the show, we soon abandoned that as people just put chairs in front of you and block your view in the end we did what the others did. We sat at the back & when the show came on sat the children at the front at 10.00 o'clock.

I am not a moaner & consider my family & I as considerate people. I am only writing this to let guest know what to expect. All I would have liked was decent food and not to have to participate in the sun bed ritual, and not to act in an ignorant are inconsiderate manner like others in the hotel. Unfortunately it is like the survival of the fittest.

I understand that next year Airtours have the hotel exclusively & I hope that they can raise the standards to the one on our first visit.

My/Our Holiday Review:

This was our first all inclusive holiday ans we were worried that the quality of food may not have been up to much. However after reading the reviews beforehand it put our mind to rest a little bit.More about the food later. We travelled as a party of 3 me my partner and my partners mother.

The hotel is I would guess a typical 1970,s high rise common in this resort and although a little dated from the outside it was perfectly ok in terms of decor and aminities inside.

The real problem is the lack of air conditoning. You can try and hire a fan however when we tried there was none left and only after several attempts did we manage to obtain one, although they were a help they were not ideal.

The staff were helpful but not over friendly they really need to smile more!

The standard and quality of food was very good.Plenty of choice and lots of it.Soups, salads, spanish & english food. The reason for the mixture of foods is that the hotel is entirley made up of Spaniards and English. We did not encounter any other nationality. As well as Breakfast, lunch & dinner there are snack provided in between meal times which mainly comprise of Burgers, toasties etc. These are served up until midnight.

The hotel has nightly entertainment in the lounge and the children are entertained through the day by regular activites at the pool.

Gardenia Park is situated right at the very end of the resort and you will need to take a bus (less than 1 euro)or a taxi(6-8 euros) into the centre.

Although there is plenty to do in the resort it is worth exploring the area.We hired a car and visted Marbella & Puerto Banus which are about 30 minutes down the road.

All in all a good holiday, value for money and yes we would return

My/Our Holiday Review:

We have had two weeks at this place just make sure when you book you know what you are getting we ended up with a double room with two camp beds in for our children, one of the camp beds had to be moved every time we wanted to go in the wardrobe and drawers,we only had one wardrobe and eight hangers between four people it was a very tight squeeze.

The hotel itself inside was very clean but outside round the pool is another matter you got your drinks in plastic cups and they were all over the floor along with spilt drinks and flies.Bareing in mind the hotel has about 200 rooms and depending how many people are in the rooms the maximum capacity for the pool is 93 that shows how small the pool is, we spent most of our first week down the beach where there was space for the kids to enjoy. The food was fine for adults but found it hard for the younger children to find something to eat they lived off chips and bread buns untill we found a bar just at the bottom of the garden and turn right called the red dragon it did ENGLISH FOOD! and they were really nice.

Its is right about booking the trip to gibralter down the travel agents down the street it is worth a day out to see the monkies, but it is not as cheap as they make out for every day goods just the fags and spirits which you are restricted to.also alot of spanish in the hotel thinking they own the place and their loud mouths get on your wires by the end of two weeks. No air conditioning so you will have to hire a fan or if you kick a stink up about the size of your room like what we did and get moved you might get one given and only have to pay for the deposit which you will get back when you leave.

The courtesy rooms are little to be desired i thought it was the sauna no windows one toilet one shower and a sink no seats nothing you came out hotter than you went in so your shower was a waste of time, the only good thing that came out of this holiday was our suntans and the aeroplane.Just make sure you read everything or it will spoil your holiday,or by the way the entertainment for the kids and evening are absolutley c**p the only thing our kids looked forward to was playing bingo how sad is that.

The gardinia park is a lovely clean hotel with lots to do.The pool is 1 st class cleaned everyday and not open till 10 am once its been cleaned. The pool also has a life guard.

The rooms were quite spacious and very clean.Only 1 down side and that was no air conditioning.

The food was ok but very spanish orientated. Most days was lamb or veal which did nt appeal to me at all. There was chicken for dinner a few times but was always in some kind of sauce. The kids buffet was poor too.In 2 weeks they only had pizza once.

All most all of the reports that have been written about this hotel are true , the pool beds are taken very early due to the masses puting their towels out as early as they can , but not too much of a problem with the excellent gardens to relax in with only a few yards to walk to the the pool bar. The walk in to Fuengirola is a bit of a stretch but for 90 cents you can get a bus fairly regulary just outside the hotel, buses stop at 10pm coming back and taxis cost about 7 euros .

All in all a good place to have a holiday as the mix of people that were there when we were there were a good mix and did not have any bad elements that sometimes you can find in an all inclusive holiday . Don't know if I would go back but in the same breath we didn't want to come home . Food good , service good , you will find it hard not to have a good holiday .

Me and my family have just come back from hotel gardenia park after staying there for 1 week all inclusive the resort itself was lovely, allthough not many things to do for children as we had 2 of them we thought it was going to be very hard to keep them amused but in the end after meeting some very nice people we made our own entertainment. We had read reviews on your website about gardenia park before we went and it sounded very good but sadly we thought particularly the food was not very good at all, the hotel was very clean but in need of a facelift. The entertainment was quite good which the children really enjoyed even the bingo.

Take a trip to the zoo at fuengirolla this was brilliant and if you want to dream about being a millionaire take a trip to peurta banus to look at the yachts and ferrai's your mouth will drop open.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Discovered the day before we arrived in Fuengrirola that our tour operator had only requested 2 twin rooms instead of 3. Hotel extremely helpful more than I can say about the tour operator who seemed quick to take our money but not take the responsibility of sorting out the problem.

Hotel staff extremely friendly and were only too glad to help with any problems that you had and did eventually find us a 3rd room.

No air conditioning in rooms. You can hire a fan for 15 euros per week.

Food very good considering the numbers they were catering for. Snacks always available and bar staff did not mind you having 4 drinks at a time.

Get up early for sunloungers around the pool. Pool area a sun trap and if you like shoulder to shoulder sunbeds and an undersized pool then this is the hotel for you. We did not use the pool because some of the parents let their little ones go in the pool minus their nappies and accidents did happen. Nice gardens where you could always seem to get a lounger and shade.

In the evening there were groups of children running round the hotel and its grounds spilling drinks on staircases and leaving half eaten snacks around the hotel. Children of all ages could be found playing on the fire escape at 2.00 a.m. in the morning and in the hotel grounds. There is one security guard at the hotel. I think this speaks volumes. Not a peaceful hotel and not in the best of positions approx. 3km into the actual resort. This is okay if you are fit and don't mind the walk. Plenty of space on the beach outside the hotel. Spoke to someone who said it was their fifth visit.

We won't be rushing back!!!

Spent a pleasant 2 weeks at the Hotel Gardenia Park in early July. Did the right thing and read all the reviews before hand. No real surprises when we arrived, the hotel rooms are not air conditioned so hire a fan from reception it is well worth it and do hire a safe that is a must. Meals and snacks were very good menu varied and self-service wine with your meals. Nice hotel clean and well maintained, staff are friendly and the kids and adults games throughout the day are well worth a go.

Entertainment in the evening is for all ages with bingo being a great favourite. The only real pain was getting up early every morning to reserve our sun beds from 7 30am onwards! The local bus route passes the hotel and is cheap. Top tip book your shopping trip to Gibraltar through the local travel agent on the sea front and save some pennies.

Beaches are clean and have a colour coding using flags encase of hazards e.g. jellyfish, which were in abundance during our holiday. Mixed hotel mainly Spanish and British all were good humoured. Family had a good time on our first trip to main land Spain.

My/Our Holiday Review:

First time I havnt been on a self catering holiday and from now its all inclusive everytime for me, no cooking and cleaning, being waited on with all you can eat and drink, only problem was it flew by and was over as quick as it started.

Location - As appears to be the case with a lot of all inclusive accommodation it was at the edge of the resort which shoudnt really be a problem as we only left the hotel to go for a long walk each morning or when we went present buying.

Food - first of all we had to get used to eating even though we were never hungry.

Food was great for lunch and dinner with plenty of variety however breakfast was a bit dissapointing with the same thing everyday and always luke warm.

Accommodation - did the job which was basically just to sleep in and cleaned daily however take a fan as it got unbearably hot at night due to the fact there was no air conditioning.

Entertainment - there was enough of activities during the day in between meals for adults and children.

The evening entertainment consisted of a kids disco lasting only 20 minutes which was too short as it was enjoyed by many young children, then there was a boring dragged out quiz in both spanish and english.

Then there was bingo???? Travelling thousands of miles to play bingo was beyond me however I was the odd one out as everyone else played this sado game,

finaly there was a show for adults which was usually quite good.

As I have stated overall we loved our holiday and it was especially great for the children to get drinks food and ice-cream anytime they wanted, however there were a few things that did spoil things a bit.

The venue for the evening entertainment as with the rooms did not have air conditioning and this made for an unpleasant room full of hundreds of steaming bodies trying to enjoy themselves.

Staying with the entertainment lounge despite being signposted everywhere that it was non smoking, smokers being the ignorant people that they are paid no attention to these signs and did there best to ruin the evenings for the rest of the guests.

Lifts!!!!- The lifts were a nightmare and you started to think you were spending most of your holiday waiting for one.

Spanish- Half of the guests appeared to be Spanish which in itself is obviously not a problem however many were very ignorant and paid no attention to the fact the rest of us had to que at bar and would just push to the front to get served also going back to the entetainment lounge as well as the brittish smokers the spanish were even worse appearing to smoke what can only be described as camel dung shaped as a cigarette.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Have just returned from a week at this hotel where we stayed on an all inclusive basis. It is situated away from the centre which we knew and suited us fine. If we wanted to go out on an evening we would get a cab to the other (livlier) end, about £4.00 (£5 after dark!). If you have not been to Fuengirola before you will be in for a shock if you want to walk down the entire 'prom' of an evening, it's seven miles long, promising somewhere different to eat and drink everyday for the rest of your life (if your staying that long)!

If you fancy some good old English grub go to Cafe Manilla, it's on the front just before the Yaramar Hotel, the busiest cafe around which speaks volumes! Don't get stuck in a rut though, explore the back streets, we have discovered some wonderful places to eat and drink and they are usually cheaper than those on the front of the resort, try find the square with the fountains and have a drink there early evening, absolutely buzzing, the atmosphere is brilliant.

Now to the Hotel itself. No shocks, no surprises, it is exactly what I would expect of a three star hotel. So, when I saw the room and it's need of updating a little that was fine, I would really expect that, it was clean and we had wonderful views of the sea. Unfortunatly the painting of the exterior and some interior parts of the hotel were still taking place, it didn't bother us too much apart from the balcony railings being covered in plastic to keep paint from slashing on them, no big deal. Our room was cleaned daily and the entire hotel was spotless. The staff were fine, quite pleasant considering they have to serve a lot of drunken English all year round some of whom tend to forget to bring their manners on holiday with them!

The food was great, spoilt for choice from breakfast to 10pm, cannot fault the dining facilities except the dining area can become quite warm. For those of you (like me) who needs baby equipment, there are loads of highchairs and a microvave if req.

The pool area is noisy and you have to be up early if you want a sunbed, we tended to stay in the beautiful garden area to avoid this (and keep our baby away from the pool). If you have kids aged 3 plus the pool and the activities make it a great place to be.

Finally, we had a lovely holiday, however, this week confirmed to me that an all inclusive holiday is not for us again. The local drinks, evening entertainment and thuggish behaviour of some of the holiday makers (attempting to get as much free drink inside of them as possible) are definately a far cry away from what we personally want out of a Spanish holiday (we also met some really nice people). Self catering for us in future!

My/Our Holiday Review:

We had a wonderful two weeks at the Gardenia Park. As stated on other reviews the hotel is very clean.

We had a taxi transfer from Malaga airport to the hotel so had no queue to get our room key. Our room was on ground 0 next to reception and was specially adapted for disabled with a walk in shower. We requested a specially adapted room as Peter has M.S and always struggles to get in a bath. We had a slight problem as the water never drained away after we had a shower so it was like a paddling pool when we went to the toilet. Our daughter had a nasty fall as it was very slippery.

Reception sent a maid to mop all the water up but would not leave us a mop and bucket to do it ourselves. In the end we mopped the water up with the towels we had used and left them on the floor to be changed. The shower itself was great, like a power shower and no problem with the water temperature. Could have done with a higher fitment to change the height of the showerhead though it was less than 5ft high. Surely they realise not all the family will be wheelchair users. Patricia showered sat on the seat. I decided to bend over to shower and I am less than 5ft 2in. For two weeks it was not a major problem.

Our room was spacious enough even with another bed put in for Patricia. We asked if we could hire a fridge before we arrived to put Peter's medication in but was told the room was too small (it wasn't) and we had to put Peter's medication behind the bar in their fridge. We were very concerned over this but had no problem. All the staff were great.

The safety deposit box cost 54euro for two weeks. 10euro you got back when returned this plastic thing you have to put in the door of the safe. You put it in press reset then pick your own four numbers. The safe is not that big and ours broke one day and a firm had to come from Malaga to open it. The rep told us the safes often play up so beware. The man who came to fix it did not speak English but managed to make us understand that the safe is only small and pushed the strap of our camcorder bag back. Must have got it caught in the door.

There are 10 floors also -1 and -2. Reception is on 0. It took time waiting for lifts. Especially when people were arriving and leaving. The lifts were not that big and everyone had their cases so you can imagine the time it took. People needed the lift everyday for buggies etc. After a few days Patricia and I walked up and down the two floors (four flights of stairs) putting Peter and folded wheelchair in the lift. We had to wait ages for him sometimes. More than once he stopped on every floor up then every floor down. Seems children press the button as they are walking down stairs. It was frustrating at the time. There are three lifts but the larger one does not go to -2. Handy for taking suitcases to rooms though. The larger one is not opposite reception it's opposite the stairs.

It was really good holiday. Breakfast 8am till 10am. Then snacks are available just help yourself till 1pm when dinner was 1pm till 3pm. Snacks available again till 6pm when dinner was 6pm till 9pm. You can order a packed meal if your going out for the day. Just order it at reception the day before then you pick it up from the restaurant before you go. If you go out for the morning and miss dinner you can always make a snack when you get back if you want to keep hunger at bay till teatime. Bowls of fruit always available even in reception.

We are glad we did not let our first All-inclusive holiday which was a disaster put us off trying All inclusive again. We are not big drinkers but all the drinks were not the cheap rubbish we had at our first All-inclusive. But top quality. You are allowed four drinks at a time to reduce queuing time.

All the children had a great time in the pool. Peter and I preferred to sit in the lovely gardens. There was a hotel run mini club for 4-8yr olds. A lovely lady called Laila looked after them. They did lots games and drawing. They got certificates. It was on Monday to Friday. 11am till 2pm and again at night 8.30pm mini disco then off to the club for games and a video, which was put on at 10.15pm so it was midnight before we could get Patricia to bed. Laila would not be responsible for under 4s but they could stay if a parent stayed with them. Patricia is twelve but has learning difficulties. Lailah had no problem with Patricia staying as she behaved herself. This was unexpected as we did not realise the hotel ran a kids club and it really made the holiday for Patricia and ourselves.

There are lots of organised trips. We went on a Gibraltar tour. It was a nice day. Take English money if you can seems that it is cheaper. We never thought to take English money. 200 cigs about £9 Bacardi £10 a litre.

We got the bus outside the hotel to Benalmadena then a taxi 7euro (it was to hilly to push Peter in his wheelchair) to the cable cars next to Tivoli world. It was really great. Nervous but excited on the way up and back down. Lovely views and a horse show and Falconry display the best I have ever seen. You can have a free ride on a donkey as well. You can leave a donation if you want. We got the train back as it is easier and nearer to Tivoli world and the cable cars. We were very impressed. Forgot which way to walk back to the hotel and did a u-turn. Pity I could not remember the way we went as we managed to get back with no steep hill which was great.

We got the bus opposite the hotel to the fuengirola zoo. The zoo was compacted but nice had some different animals than were used to seeing. Personally I thought it over priced for what it was. 12euro and you pay adult price at 12 yrs.

Selwo marina in Benalmadena was great although you're an adult at 7yrs. Not much more entrance fee than the small zoo and there was sea lion shows, dolphin shows, parrot shows, penguin feeding time. The penguins were in a sort of big man made igloo. Lovely and cool in there. It was nice to see the young penguins swimming around. We got there by bus outside the hotel to the windmill roundabout then it is not far to walk and sign posted. Not easy to push the wheelchair as it is a bit steep going. Got the bus back. Public transport very good and stops and right outside the hotel.

We went on the beach just two minutes walk through the gardens. Patricia loved trying to jump the waves. I was not keen on swimming in the sea though did not think it seemed clean. We also walked to the port. Forty-five minutes walk my slow pace. Walk along the sea front till you see Linikers bar. We took some bread and fed the fish. Patricia found this very exciting as they were huge and jumped out of the water for the bread, loads of them.

If you fancy Horse trekking ring Freddy 619966012 He has a riging school Torremolinos. He will pick you up from the hotel and bring you back.

At the reps presentation we booked to go and see another way of taking holidays with club sunterra. You get a lift to a resort in Benalmadena, your dinner, voucher for 30euro off an organised trip and voucher for a taxi home after you have spent time looking around Benalmadena. You can use this taxi voucher up to midnight on that day.

The rooms they show you are really nice and we decided to join. It was ok as you have fourteen days cooling off period. I told the sales rep whom made it all seem so wonderful I would be looking up Sunterra on the internet when we got home. It seems there is a problem for disabled members so we cancelled. It was over £9,000 for 7000 points then £500 a year fees which seem to rise every year. Then you had your flights to pay and electricity and other charges when your on holiday. If you have no intention of buying points please don't be tempted by the lift into Benalmadena 30euro voucher, dinner and taxi back to hotel. You could waste a day of your holiday. If you want details of Sunterra before you go I would recommend you look it up on yahoo groups to see if it is right for you. We were very keen to join before we got more info.

It was mainly English holiday makers at the Gardenia when we were there. Everyone was very nice. From toddlers to pensioners everyone seemed to be having a good time. We met a Belgium family who spoke so good English we thought they were. Three Spanish couples. Pensioners I think. They did not speak English and we do not speak Spanish but we always waved and smiled when we saw them. The day they went home one of the ladies made it clear to me she was going home and kissed me on each cheek. That was nice after all the bad reviews on Spanish pensioners.

Only major problem was people were getting robbed in the grounds of the hotel as well as out. I got stopped just outside the hotel on the sea front by gypsies who wanted to sell me a carnation. I could not get passed them and decided to give them a few coppers like she was showing me in her hand just to get passed. Bad mistake she tried to steal the notes from my wallet but I saw her and knocked her away. Others were not so lucky. One family had 250euro taken that they had drawn out to go to Marbella. The gypsies tried to sell her a carnation at the railway station. They are so good she did not even realise they had taken the money from her purse which was in her hand all the time.

Another holidaymaker who needed a walking stick was bumped into as it walked through Fuengirola and while checking if he was ok the person who bumped into him stole his wallet from his pocket.

A family told us to watch our bag, which I left hanging on Peter's wheelchair as their bag had been stolen from under their sun bed. He had gone to the toilet but his wife and toddler were still on the sun beds when a bloke ran off with their bag. Three hours they were at the police station getting a crime report for their insurance.

Can't think of anything else that has not been said on other reviews. We had a great holiday and hope you do to.

hotel very clean food was great we were all inclusive and we were spoilt for choice the food was very well presented and changed constantly. We had never been all inclusive before and we were very pleased .Good entertainment for kids if they want to use it skittles pool darts french bowls ect up to you if you or the kids want to use it if not there is lovely gardens to sit in or a very clean pool if it is to cold there is an indoor pool but it is quite small and loads of kids use it there was entertainment on every night which was very good

all in all it is an all round great hotel that caters for everbody my 10 year old had a ball and all the staff were very friendly towards children the only downfall is it is a bus run into fuengirola or a very long walk but you really do not have to leave the hotel it has everything you would want we would definately go back.

This hotel was very clean and the maid service was spot on.HOWEVER, if you are thinking of taking children there at any time other than peak season, i suggest you think again. The hotel does not cater for the kids atall, apart from a few games in the day, it was by far, more suitable for the older generation. It was predominatly spainish over 60's, who made it obvious that we shouldn't be there.

The evening entertainment was pretty awful and was over by 10.30ish and there was nothing for the kids to do other than hang around in the "GAMES" room, or get in trouble going up and down the stairs and lifts, unfortunately, thats what happens when children are bored stiff!!

I definately wouldn't go back to Fuengirola, unless you have really good weather there is nothing else to do and make sure you go elsewhere with your kids for an easter break or you will end up feeling like we do,short changed!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

We chose this hotel as it was all inclusive and very cheap, so we thought as long as it was clean we would be o.k. What a wonderful surprise, it was smarter than I thought, yes the entertainment rooms could be updated as could the entertainmnet, but we thought this was due to being out of season that the entertainment was very amature.

The rooms were lovely and we all had superb views. The mainds changed the towels every day and tidied and were first rate. The food was wonderful, so much to chose from and so much there and contrary to what I have read in some peoples comments was hot for us. The staff we such a friendly lot and so polite and obliging.

It was in a great situation we walked along the promenade which was just across the road, many bars and shops and the big market is now at the harbour which we walked to. We went on trips where we were picked up outside the hotel and the train was great fun and so cheap to get about. On the 13th January when we went we had sunny weather every day but one and people were sunbathing in the gardens as were we.

So apart from the amateur entertainment we had a wonderful week with all our drinks free and this included cocktails and every spirit you could think of, I know as I had a different one lunchtimes and each evening. For a £1 flight to Malaga from Manston Airport, and £147 all inclusive with ALpha rooms, who could have so much sun food and drink in a week for so little, we all hope to go back again next January.

My/Our Holiday Review:

If you have never tried an independently booked all-inclusive holiday this is the place to start.

Malaga airport to the hotel takes about 25 mins and costs ?30 max be aware the area is Torreblanca not Fuengeriola.

The hotel staff have excellent english very polite and speedy check in

Rooms - biggest let down I'm afraid no air-con so hot, hot, hot but cleaned every day, fresh towels everyday (if you want) clean linen every 3-4 days. Take a small fan if you've the space.

Food - fantastic quality for the amount they have to produce.

Breakfast - usual English brekky stuff, cereal, bread, croissants, pain chocolat, fruit, and yogurts.

Lunch & dinner tend to offer similar choices - soup, pasta, rice, potato of some kind

fish, meat, veg, if you can scrape the horrible half wild untended Brit kids away from them there are chips there to.

Always a great salad choice and they did a sort of salad special every serving.

Good quality fresh fruit all the time as well as a selection of other desserts.

One other excellent service is the waiters in the restaurant not only do they insist on appropriate clothing they also clear up your table with lightning efficiency.

If they could teach people now to take smaller portions and return to the food bar for seconds if they want to that would be great. Don't some people realise YOU CAN EAT AS MUCH AS YOU WANT it doesn't have to be on one plate though.

The bar staff are excellent (big thanks to Pedro for teaching the kids more Spanish every day) and contrary to other reports I've read they insist on every guest queueing. You never waited long for a drink & I didn't see anybody on a mission to drink the bar dry.

Entertainers were OK mix of sport type games in the day - I didn't like the fact that they took over the pool for water polo for about 30 mins each day. The kids can't play in the pool if the adults are hogging the shallow end. Winners of the games get a certificate on stage each night which the kids love. Quiz was good ( 3 times a winner so perhaps I'm biased), bingo prize was around ?200 but we didn't play, kids disco was short & repetitive perfect for little ones. The evening show was either outright garbage or mildly amusing but generally OK to fill in an hour or so.

Pool - tens of beds spare everyday but if you want a poolside one get up early and use those towels. To the ignorant few please don't put towels down at 7:30 and turn up at 3 to use the beds for an hour that is sheer bad manners.

The gardens have loads of space and tend to be quieter and cooler.

Beach is just over the road which is handy to pop back for facilities and refreshments.

Nearby shops sell all the necessities. Bars nearby with SKY if you need your fix of sport or soap.

On leaving the hotel will call a taxi for you so don't worry about booking anything.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Having spent 4 weeks at this hotel 2 years ago and having a great winter hol,we decided to return.

Unfortunately the hotel was not anywhere as good as it was then.

This time the majority was full of spanish pensioners on their two weeks break and entertainment, food was geared up for them.

The hotel now needs refurbishment as the chairs are badly worn. The lounge is not big enough to accommodate a full hotel. The spanish liked to move all the seating around in the lounge each evening and did not care about shoving people aside.

With the christmas approaching, the children arrived running riot around the hotel and in the lifts and corridors. On our floor we had noise late at night and on two occasions, sick outside our door.

The food was barely warm and repetetive, turkey, veal. On Xmas day we expected a gala meal but as we were half board, the gala meal was served at lunchtime so our evening meal on xmas day was lasagne and chips!

The hotel was poorly decorated and difficult to realise it was Christmastime!

This is truly disappointing as it was and could be a lovely hotel.

Although it is some way from Fuengirola centre,it is in a nice position opposite the beach

Two years ago it was certainly a different story.......

The hotel Guardina park was our choice to spend christmas and new year on an all inclusive deal. The rooms are ok and the towels were changed daily The staff at the hotel are excellent and friendly The food was average and always luke warm never hot mealtimes were spoilt by the most ignorant people not brits but eldrly spanish pushing and shoving.

The Vicoria lounge is not big enough when the hotel is busy and the room is in need of refurbishment the seats are dirty and well worn But most of all the hotel needs a adult room only The holiday was spoit by kids running riot in the Vicoria Lounge and elsewhere while their parents got drunk on the free booze

this was the most freqent complaint by a lot of people who all said they would not take another holiday when the schools are off us included.

We all had a great holiday at the Gardenia Park.

There was something on for the kids and adults every hour from 11am till 5pm from archery to water polo. Then the kids disco at 8pm, bingo at 9 and a show at 10.The food in the hotel is good and you can have as much as you want. There are some rules in the Hotel, don't take food out of the resturaunt, no kids in the bar after 10pm, but none of these are adhered to which was good. It is a long walk to the centre of Fuengirola but it is straight along the seafront with bars and shops all the way along. There are bus stops outside the hotel for going to Fuengirola or Benalmadena. The train station is only a 10 minute walk away.

All in all a good Hotel. We were all inclusive which was great. You can get 4 drinks at a time and the staff were always smiling.

Just come back from this holiday and it was very quiet perfect if you want a hotel based holiday and great for families. We never had no children but we enjoyed ourselves.

The hotel is a bit dated and very basic (no air conditioning)but very very clean and most of the rooms seem to be either a sea or pool view, but you do get alot of noise from the traffic of the main road next to the hotel.

The staff are very friendly and done there best to help, especially the bar staff who seemed to keep the que for the drinks down (tip them and there seem to serve you quicker)

The pool is nice but most of the day time activies are based on the pool and when there are not on the kids seem to bombard it so we spent most days on the beach, just over the road. The beach is one of the best I have ever been on with fish swimming around you as you swim.

The food is nice and does vary from day to day as well as the usual menu of day to day food.

All in all the hotel is very good and we would give it a 7 out of 10 mainly because its not so near to the resort center.

There were plenty of sun beds, but if you want to be beside the pool you would need to be up between 7.00 7.30.

If you want to go to garbalter for the day book a ticket from tour shop down the street around 14 euros .

dont try to take home over the limit,1 cartoon of fags,7 euro.1 bottle of vodka 3euros,the spanish customs check ever bag.

I am now going to book this hotle for next year.

We all really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The Hotel itself is kept extremely clean, the rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels etc. As we went in high season the poolside was pretty busy but the gardens surrounding the hotel were very beautiful and quiet.

The food was ok, there was something for everyone but got a bit boring in the second week but as we were all inclusive there was snacks and icecreams available all day long. The staff were all very efficient. Also very generous measures of the free alcohol.

The entertainment through the day and night was really good, something for everyone. The entertainment staff were brilliant.

The only down fall was the lack of air conditioning - when we were there the temperature went up to about 45 degrees and the rooms were unbearable, however you can hire a fan from reception which really made a difference.

We have made loads of friends here and had a great time. A holiday is what you make it.

Hotel is ideally sited for a quieter beach holiday as it is located on the outskirts of Fuengirola away from the noise of the busier centre. Local bus and train stops are close by and the service is frequent and cheap, so getting around is not a problem. Beach is only across the road - great for evening strolls. If you like fishing bring a rod as its very popular all along the coast and (small)fish are plentiful. Hotel room was a bit crampt (4 sharing), but staff generally helpful. Food better than most we have tried previously - we went on an 'all-inclusive' package. The entertainment lounge is closed to children after 10pm, so we didn't bother with the evening shows. The pool was fine on the first week, but terribly busy in the second when the hotel had a much higher (say 40%) proportion of visitors from other countries.

Visited most of the local attractions. Generally these were poor and dated - the zoo is small but well worth a visit, as is the Benalmadena cable cars. Forget the Selwo marina - very small - no exhibits to wander around and the commentary was only in Spanish for some of the main events. Tivoli world is like a local UK fair ground 30 years ago - forget it if you are looking for any thrill rides!! Gibralter tour is a worthwhile full day excursion.

My first experience of taking my children on holiday by my self, and yes I would do it again.

The food was great for adults, although the hotel could have catered a bit better for the children. The reps were great, when I arrived at the hotel apparently they weren't expecting me until that night, I didn't have a room, but within a few minutes the rep had sorted it out, I had what i thought was the biggest room in the hotel, right next to the pool. The children thought the kids club was great, there was some thing for them to do all day and for a few hours on the evening.

The entertainment staff were great, although the bingo got a bit confusing for them as they are all from Finland!!!!

Over all it was a great holiday and I would go back to see Fido, Jarno and all the gang.

very impressed with this hotel it was our first time all inclusive and it sold us as we will be doing it again,

The rooms were spotless and frequently cleaned, the entertainment day and night definatly family orientated get to the lounge early at night as some seats have obstructed views!!

And to get a sunbed on the sunny side of the pool you need to be an early riser other wise you wait till lunchtime for the sun and when i say early riser i mean it as on the day we left we had to be up by 5.45am and i saw someone getting there sunbeds so be warned, also the hotel also caters for other nationalities as well...

would recommend the trip to gilbrater excellent but when they tell you not to exceed the limit on cigs etc take there word for it as you wont get away with it on the way out!!!!!

the market is also worth a visit but get there early as by mid morning it is packed and hot and sweaty!!!!

would highly recommend this holiday we had good fortnight there

Just back after my second holiday there, had a most enjoyable time again although the entertainment wasn't a patch on last year, they are all Finnish and try to cater for all by speaking 3 or 4 different languages when there were only British speaking people going to the shows at night. Can be a bit of a drag and during the days activities they just didn't have a look in on last years staff.

Anyway apart from that nothing much has changed, the food is the same, if you like chicken and chips, pork and chips and veal and chips your quids in, but when your there for 14 days it becomes a bit boring. On a lighter note there is a wee Scottish pub just at the bottom of the hotel (Scottish Oasis) which sells chicken curries and tikka masalas to die for at 5 euros, washed down with a nice cool pint of strongbow cider it sure breaks the monotomy of the hotel.

Hope this doesn't put off anyone from going here as Iv'e been to a few all inclusive hotels and this is one of the better one's I have been too. If any of the lads I met are reading this,(Barry,Sean,Alan,Jason,Steven,George etc) if you are going again please brush up on the water polo skills.

I can only describe it as being a brilliant place to go for a family holiday, and i would advise any family with small children to go here.

You also have a superb beach literally a two minute walk from the hotel pool.

Our only gripe would be the choices of cooked food, as it was very similar daily other than the fresh salad and fruit which was briiliant.

This is what i would rate the following categories from 1 to 10 with 10 been excellent and 1 been very poor

My/Our Holiday Review:

This was our first time staying in Fuengirola, although like most people who have been to the Costa del Sol, we've been to the market once or twice.

I was a bit apprehensive about staying in the Gardenia Park after reading some of the comments on this site but I have to say that I thought the Hotel was excellent in most respects and we had a most enjoyable holiday.

Our room, on the top floor, was a good size, clean, had a sea view and had obviously been recently redecorated. The dining room was good - the waiters were efficient and friendly and the food was generally very good.

The bar staff were excellent - always cheerful and always gave you a decent measure (unlike many other All-Inclusive hotels). You could also get 4 drinks at a time which cut down on trips to the bar.

There is a large outdoor pool surrounded by a large tiled sunbathing area with lots of sunbeds. There is also a small indoor pool and a jakuzzi. We didn't go near the main pool - you had to be up early to get a sunbed there. The sun didn't seem to get round to the pool area until midday by which time there were hundreds of people lying there waiting for it to appear! If you take a little walk through the gardens towards the beech (which is just across a quiet road) then there is plenty of room on the grass to sunbathe - and plenty of sunbeds. We sunbathed in the same place very afternoon and never had a problem getting a sunbed. We were, however, usually surrounded by Germans who were very pleasant and always attempted to chat.

The hotel is a good walk (along the promenade) form the centre - about 45 mins. but there are plenty of cafes and bars along the way. The prices in the bars vary tremendously - we paid 5 euros for a pint and an orange-juice in a Scottish bar near the harbour but paid less than half that in another bar along the road.

One bar which was always crowded was the Manila (close to the Yaramar hotel) where you got a pint for £1 and a pot of tea for 50p.

Getting out and about is easy. There are bus stops right outside the hotel, the train station is a few hundred yards away next to the Hotel Torreblanca and you can catch a boat from the harbour to Benelmadena and Malaga.

Fuengirola market (Tuesday) is very big but I prefer the one at Benelmadena (3 stops away on the train) which is smaller but cheaper. While you're at Benelmadena market you could also take a trip on the cable-car. It's a long ride and not one for people who don't like heights (especially when you're suspended 100feet above the motorway), but the views at the top are amazing.

I'm not sure about the evening entertainment at the hotel - you have to be in very early to get a seat. From 10 pm it is supposed to be Adult Time but there are still hordes of kids there, some of them asleep on the chairs. We did get in to see the Flamenco show which was excellent but again spoilt by kids running around, jumping on the stage etc. The entertainers, for some obscure reason, were all from Finland - strange when all the guests seemed to be either British or German!

The main Airtours rep. was very good but there were also another 3 reps. (probably childrens reps.) who didn't appear to do much except play cards and do a bit of shopping.

I usually get bored after a week away but I can honestly say I could have stayed another week here. I would probably go back (if the price was right) but preferably not during the school holidays and not during the winter months when, like lots of other hotels, the Spanish pensioners move in.

There are always people who will find fault with a holiday however good it is but a holiday is usually what you make it. If you come here to enjoy yourselves then I'm sure you will.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Went for a week all inclusive to Gardenia Park with three friends, end of May 2004.

The reviews previously noted did not make the hotel sound very good, but let me tell you, they are all wrong, it was excellent.

The staff were extremely pleasant and they kept the Hotel looking extremely clean and tidy.

Yes they were quick to take away plates but only the ones that people were finished with.

The meals were excellent, plenty of variety. The drink supply was wide and varied too.

All in all the whole holiday was one that My Friends and I will not forget.

So all you people out there thinking of going to Gardenia Park and are being put off by the reviews noted previously, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, IGNORE THEM.

Oh and one more thing try the Jacuzzi, it's great fun and very cheap to hire only 5 euros for 15 mins, go in for 30 mins, that's what we did.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Please do not go early season, its like being in the middle of a rugby scrum. We visited 26th April 2004. Fights for chairs in the evening and no food unless you go in very early evening. Old- age pensioners are none to fussy who they upset especially if they are Spanish. None too pleased with the travel firm Travelox, left us at the airport after we had paid for transfers, saw no rep to complain too all the holiday. Be warned.

DONT GO!we did and wish we hadn't, we have just spent Easter in what can only be described as the resedential home from hell. This place was full of spanish pensioners on government subsidised breaks they had no thought for anyone, our children were pushed, pulled & trod on and even hit by a chair.

The hotel is out of date, the food in the restaurant is cold and there is very little choice,if you choose the all inclusive option BEWARE OF THE HOT DOG SAUSAGE'S AND BURGERS they put them out in the morning and leave them there until midnight , you have been warned ! If you have booked a family holiday here CANCELL NOW !

My/Our Holiday Review:

Just returned from a Week of pure hell at the Gardenia Park. The hotel is full of Spanish Government Subsidised Pensioners.

some have absolutly no manners what so ever they elbowed my children out of the way at meal times. It was like a stampede you would think they had never seen food before. The food was mediocre. The hotel entertained catered for Spanish and not the English speaking clientele. The hotel itself is in need of a refurbishment. It reminds me of the spanish hotels of 20 years ago. The games room for the children wasn't up to much as most of the games were out of order.

I can say that I will not be returning to this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone else especially when it it is full of spanish pensioners. Who hampered my and my childrens enjoyment.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The hotel was very clean, the service was very good, rooms were spacious and well kept.

Food was largely boring, poor cuts of meat/fish/poultry and almost always cold, warm at best.

As of Oct 2003 till Apr 2004, the hotel is overrun and inundated with Spanish pensioners (60+). They broke several coffee machines, juice machines, water machines and generally inconvenienced other guests

we can highly recommend this hotel only avoid between Oct and Apr

hotel gardenia park was brilliant hotel staff were very helpfull and friendly i requested low floor and got one no problen very clean, maid service every day i read other comments about the food being the same, day in day out that was rubbish it was very varied and tasty. there was plenty of it best hotel we have been in for a long time.we will certainley go back there.

entertainment great usually its the reps that do it all but this time they had proper entertainers every night. the only downfall was the pool was small if you go in the summer season that could do with a refurb. and they coulld do with some better pool music crapp.lovely gardens with sun loungers play area for kids and indoor pool very small.
