Stayed at this hotel end of July 2005.

Was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very nice, good sized and comfortably bedrooms with clean and decent bathrooms. Food was buffet style, breakfast was continental and evening had a choice of meat dishes and pasta dishes. Large range of salads available.

Pool area was very nice ended up staying there most of the time.

Hotel in excellent location, with beach and shops etc within short walk.

Staff very friendly and helpful!

Would definatly consider staying there again if in fuenigirola!

Took about 25 mins from airport by taxi.

Just back from a fantastic week at the angela this hotel is worthy of its four star rating the staff were superb ,very friendly nothing was too much trouble for them the food must rate as the best we have had in spain breakfast was brill with a choice of eggs bacon sausages beans toms fried bread toast plus all the cereals and tea and coffee .evening meals were great loads of choice .we are all very fussy eaters and we ate every meal the drinks at dinner are a bit pricy but this is the norm in spain .I would give 10/10 for food.the entertainment was great and they had 3 happy hours a day two for the price of one.in the bedroom there was a free safety deposit box free air con and free tea maker great.now for the resort.loads to do and plenty of places to go be aware on the gibralter trip the thompson rep will tell you the world war 2 tunnels on Gib are exclusive to Thompson. this is not true.

all in all a fantastic holiday.will definatly return to fuengirola and the angela.by the way an e mail before you go with any requests helps.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Rooms 930 and 929

This is the first time we have been to Fuengirola and were weren't over impressed with the resort as we found it tatty and dirty.

The Hotel Angela is not a family hotel. It is fine for people aged 60+ but families are not very well catered for. There were no kids club or activities going on during the day to keep the kids entertained. The games room (if you can call it that) had only a pool table which cost 1 euro a game and table tennis with squashed balls. Th pool was ok however small with limited beds around it, the sun terrrace has plenty of beds but is away from the pool.

The hotel is right next to a main road and busy bars which don't close until 2am. Car horns are sounded at all hours as well as loud music coming from the bars. If you can request a room away from the main road do so it may make a diiference as we were near the main road overlooking the beach and often didn't get to sleep until after 1am.

The restaurant and food were ok with a wide variety of food and men having to wear trousers however, we opted to eat out on severeal ocassions which was MUCH better! There is a very nice chinese called The Great Wall.If you turn out the hotel go right and then left onto the main promenade walk about a quarter of a mile and it is on the left.

The nightly entertainment was a joke. Bingo was called by a spanish person who spoke broken english but you couldn't understand, he would then tell the bar man the number in spanish who in turn would shout it clearly in english.

The beach was very good and good value (if you ask for a discount card at reception) you can use the card at a small part of the beach in front of the Hotel Yaramar (Hotel Angela's sister hotel). It cost 5 euros for 2 beds and a parasol, and its normally 8 euros.

If you have the oppurtunity to go on the day trip to Gibraltar do so. It involves around 3 hours travelling in total however, it is well worth it, the World War 2 tunnels were fasinacting and arent tight to walk through. The guides were also very good and imformative.

I am sorry to say that we will not be returning and would not reccomend it.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The Hotel Angela was classed as a four star. In our opinion having stayed in other Thompson four star hotels, it was only a three star.

The food was varied and good with a few exceptions. Dried friut was well and truely dried solid, some plumbs had white mould on them and the porridge, which was very nice, started off thick and ended up after a few days, very thin. We like an alternate non meat day. Although we are not vegitarians, vegitarians were not catered for.

The entertainment was very good but held in a basement club which had no disabled access.

The service and the Staff were excellent except for the two deputy Head Waiters who seemed to compete as to who could be the most ill mannered.

The Hotel was suppose to be located in the quieter end of Fuengirola. We can only say that we're glad we didn't stay at the busier end. Opposite our side of the Hotel was a bar which closed a 2am. We then had two to three hours of drunks talking 'quietly', supplemented with cars reving their engines and sounding their horns. Other buildings were so close that noise was amplified at night.

Sun bathing was a farse. There are three small sun bathing areas. One has no disabled access and another doesn't get the sun until the afternoon. Notices forbidding the reserving of sun beds were everywhere but no one took any notice and they weren't enforced.

The resort is friendly, flat and pleasant with an excellent beach But we would not go back to the Angela or recommend it.

My/Our Holiday Review:

This was our first time in Feungirola and we found it a very good resort overall.

The Hotel Angela is situated in a good location directly opposite the beach and about a 10/15 min walk to the nightlife restaurant area (Although there are some close to the hotel as well). One of the good points was that Fuengirola is Flat so no cardiac hills to climb, much different to Torremelinos and Benalmadena. These two resorts are very easy to reach by train which runs on time and is kept very clean and is cheap.

There are day trips to Gibraltar available which although a lot of travelling involved is worth it but be sure to take your passport as you have to go over the countries borders.

Also the zoo in Fuengirola is worth a visit but go at night if you can as the animals are moving about a lot more.

The hotel Angela we found to be very good and the staff very pleasant and helpful.

The meals were also very good both at breakfast and evening dinner for which men need to wear long trousers.

They also hold happy hours in the bars which can make it a very inexpensive evening.

The only negative point we had was the swimmimg pool which is quite small and the water was always "misty" looking although I don't think this was anything to do with the quality of the water.

Incidentally just as we were getting ready to leave, a rumour started going round the hotel that as the peak season was upon them staff were going to be instructed to remove towels from sunbeds if they had not been in use for an Hour which I personally think is quite reasonable.

If we decided to return to Fuengirola we would quite happily stay at the Angela again.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The Hotel Angela was superb in every way. The rooms were well equipped, with free tea and coffee making facilities, free safe, TV with quite a few English channels, even a full length mirror and coat hooks for outdoor coats ! The only slight gripe we had was if you wanted to sit up in bed to read or watch TV the bed legs were on castors and slid away from the headboard. We fixed that by putting the bottom bed legs inside our trainers - the rubber soles stopped the beds from sliding - ingenious or what !!

The food at the hotel was excellent, plenty of choice both for breakfast and dinner. You would have to be very fussy indeed if you could not find something you liked.

The entertainment was geared to older folk (like us) music and dancing in the main lounge each evening. Bingo in the downstairs disco at 9pm, just one game with prizes of 75 euros a line and 225 euros a full house, followed by a show or comedian. Quite acceptable. Not much going on in the way of entertainment round about, perhaps because it was Christmas, but we did find a nice upmarket little bar on a nearby side street - Bar Latino - drinks very strong and very cheap !

Having given the hotel Angela an excellent rating, we must say we were very disappointed in Fuengirola. Perhaps it is better when it is open, but most of it was closed for Christmas. Nice seafront prom, but tatty bars and shops and all looking very run down. In contrast, Benalmadena, just 1.15 euros on the bus, was excellent. Much more up market, plenty going on, nice shops and bars, pleasant ambience and a wonderful marina. Mijas village, 1 euro on bus, is very picturesque and well worth a visit.

All in all, a pleasant break, nice not to have to "do" Christmas, and we missed some horrendous weather back home. If the Angela was in Benalmadena, we would definitely return, but would not go back to Fuengirola.

Hotel room was ok as we were on the pool side and got the sun most of the day-the other side of hotel was in shade all day.

Good position opposite nice beach and area very quiet.Plenty of good pubs, shops eating places within minutes of the hotel.

Hotel situated about 20 mins from main town which was not for us at night due to many bars with the usual crowds of youger people driniong etc.Town has many good shops. We used the rail and bus services which are regular and quite cheap visiting mijas which is a must, malaga, puerto banus and marbella.

The food at the hotel was hit and miss and sometimes not very hot.Breakfasts saw the bacon rock hard and the spanish stuff and not a mushroom in sight. We ate out a few nights having seen the menu-we had been spoiled the last few years by using Thomson Holidays gold hotels and will be again from now on.The hotel was full of some very old people and has the nickname as gods waiting room. The entertainment was for those people and we never used the facility-price for beer etc was very expensive as opposed to local bars.

We will never go back there and would not recommend it to anyone i am sorry to say

Hotel Angela is superb - right on sea front - excellent for all ages - ok entertainment most evenings is more geared to the older folk - but plenty going on elsewhere. Food good - room a bit small but very well decorated and equipped. We had room on 6th floor - no 628 - not a pool view but terrific view of promenade and the lovely beach. Try for a room on pool side if you can - its gets plenty of sun all day. This particular area is all on the flat so good for the older folk and anyone with walking diffs. Would certainly recommend this hotel to all - cant wait to go back.

Beach is beautiful and lots of bars, shops and restaurants in the area.

Go on do your self a favour and book! Enjoy.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Stayed for four weeks and enjoyed every minute! Hadn't visited the Costa del Sol before so plenty to see and do. Fuengirola is a good base for seeing this coast with efficient, cheap bus and train services.

The hotel is clean, comfortable and very efficiently run with a good choice of food, we could find nothing to fault it.

Ask for a room on the sunny side in the winter if you are a sun-lover as the north side gets very little.

Do have a ride on the cable car from Arroyo to the top of the mountain, the views are amazing and birds of prey are flown from a sanctuary near the top. (OAP rates are the same as the children's fare). If you buy a single ticket there is no facility for buying tickets at the top. We walked back down - took two hours but was downhill all the way on a decent road and was very peaceful and pleasant. The zoo in Fuengirola was very impressive - more like a very pleasant park with animals and birds than a conventional zoo.

We found a nice little Spanish snack bar hidden away in a square not far from the s*x shop - no, we weren't looking for it (the s*x shop that is!). This makes traditional Spanish sandwiches and chocolate and churros if you want a change from the ubiquitous "toastie".

A walk up to the castle in Fuengirola is worth while - peaceful with lovely views and well-kept gardens. Entry to the castle is very cheap but not a great deal inside other than a walk round the walls.

Beware of the pedestrian crossings, particulary those close to corners and roundabouts as turning traffic can go straight through even though you have the "green man". Also beware bag-snatchers, there were three incidents we heard of during our four weeks in our hotel alone - generally targetting the elderly.

A holiday easily recommended.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Just returned from a fabulous week at the Angela, so O.K perhaps the weather could have been kinder, but nevertheless there is loads to do in and around Feungirola.

The public transport both bus and trains are excellent. The hotel is in an area called Los Boliches, there are lots of bars and a lot of them English, the English bars are OK bit a little short on entertainment, karoake and quizes are OK but not every night.

The hotel entertainment caters mainly for strict tempo dancers but the happy hour when you can buy one drink and get one free more than compensates. The food in hotel and also the staff are fantastic. The dining room is so calm even at breakfast and for both breakfast and evening meal you are shown to your table, not the usual battle of the fittest run.

There is a TV lounge which shows all the soaps should you wish to keep in touch and also a film twice daily, plus there is table tennis etc.Bingo is played nightly down in the night club and also flamenco shows etc. All in all it was a fantastic week and I would not hesitate to go back to the Angela again. A word of warning if you are stopeed by timeshare, tell them you live there and they leave you alone, perhaps we should all find out where they go on holiday and mither the life of of them, the looky looky men are easy and not very persistent.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We had a great time at " Hotel Angela ", it does have a lot of older people staying there, we were probably the youngest there, but everyone is very friendly, guests and staff alike.

As I've seen on a previous review, ask for a room with a pool view, you get the sun then on your balcony from about 12:00 p.m. right through until sunset. The rooms on the other side only have sun until about 1:00 p.m. if you're lucky.

Rooms are fully functional if not huge, tv with a few UK news channels.

We had a room on the top floor and the views were terrific, sea on one side and mountains and town on the other.

If I were to have any gripes it would be the ants in the room, in the bathroom, on the dressing table and on the balcony !! and also the fact that you have to dress for dinner - no shorts, vests or beach attire. Me being a shorts person had only packed one pair of trousers which I had to wear each night for dimmer for the 4 nights we were there.

There's a supermarket within 5 minutes and town is about a 10 minute walk away with plenty of shops and watering holes along the way.

I'd go back for a 4/5 night break,

A good time was had by me and my sister.

Taxi transfer time 20 - 25 minutes

Just got back from the angela hotel, fantastic hotel food amazing entertainment brill, rooms were lovely free safety deposit boxes in rooms, and good air con

only 1 gripe ants in room but because of the weather bein very hot all the people stayin here had them, but the maids spray the rooms every day.

Met some lovely folk here and the staff behind the bar were excellent especially the young guy who joined in with the line dancing.

If you go you must visit mijas what a stunning place, something il never forget, also try gibraltor i have bein before worth seeing the apes there so cheeky.

For mad shoppers try the new myramar shopping centre i recommend zara, mango and a shop called bershka fantastic clothes and shoes at very cheap prices.Buses are dead cheap 82 cent gets you in and around fuengirola and the bus stop is just at the back of the angela.

Los boliches where the angela is based is a great place to stay has good bars and eateries RECOMMENDED is the cafe manila owned by a english guy and his wife brill food and cheap and always busy.

Lots of tapas bars on the front and in the back streets behind the yaramar hotel just a few yards up..

Torromolinos is good to visit 2 euros on the bus..For people who smoke like me cigs are between 28-30 euros for 200 i think that was expensive.

Well hope ive helped you and please ignore all those that call this hotel GODS WAITING ROOM cos it is not. well done to britannia for the best flight and portland for a spot on holiday going back there with my partner in aug 2005.ENJOY And see you next year.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

the hotel angela was a very good hotel (4 star)all the staff were very helpfull at all times and nothing was a bother to them. the food was of very good quality and all nights were varied , the pool side snack bar was also set to a very high standard with service to the pool area.

the free safe and tea maker was welcomed by everyone I spoke to as was the free air con , the fridge at £20.00 for 14 days was good value ,try the Macodona supermarket just up from the hotel like asda , water only 2.5 euros for 6 off 1.5 Lt bottles ( hotel 1.7 euros 1/2 Lt )

happy hour is two for the price of one, 1 pint of larger 1.6 euros now that can not be bad.

along the town about 20 mins walk just off the street with all the eating places is a pub called the Euro P Inn english bar 2 euros a pint or 2 bottels of larger for 2 euros.

the nightly shows were the same over the two weeks but were good ( also bingo if you like that sort of thing wife dose I do not ) a good cross section of all ages .

we would concider another trip to the same hotel.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Have visited the Costa del Sol before but not Fuengirola. Really liked Fuengirola, lovely clean resort, good beach, plenty to do. Very good local transport so no need to go on expensive trips. We visited Mijas on the local bus about 60p each way, takes 20 mins. A lovely outing, don't miss visiting the bull ring in Mijas only 3 euros. We also visited Marbella and Puerto Banus on the local bus, this is a longer trip about one hour to Marbella but we have been there on a half day trip before and you do not get enough time. The old town in Marbella is lovely. We also used the train to visit Malaga. This was very easy to use and cost about £1.60 each way. Many people don't bother to visit Malaga but its really worth the effort. Visit the cathedral, Picasso museum and wander round the streets of a real Spanish city. Go up to the castle for the marvellous views over the city, recommend you get a taxi up and walk down.

The Hotel Angela is in a very good position about 15 mins walk to the marina and town. Clean, good food, good entertainment and agree with all the other good comments made about hotel. Our flights with Britannia were good and both on time. The flight was not full but the hotel was. Lots of people seem to go back to this hotel year after year and I think it always gets booked up so you will not get a last minute booking here, we spoke to people who tried to book for May in January and it was already fully booked so if you fancy a trip here you need to book well in advance.

Would return to this resort and hotel again but perhaps in a few years time.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We were not sure what to expect at the Angela described as God's Waiting Room! but there were mainly older guests with a handfull of under fiftes. It was great if like us young at heart and appreciate peace and quite. No loud music around the pool. There was definately not enough sun beds to go round. Having reserved the rule not to reserve - it still went on but you can hardly complain when there are not enough beds to go round, also a severe lack of shelter (umbrella's). Around the pool, the seating area had canopies to pull out but stayed rolled up - older people don't always want to sit in the sun all day.!

The beds we found were comfortable if you could put up with the plastic mattress covers which were noisy and uncomfortable

The rooms very clean and great bathroom with Hairdryer. The Tea/Coffee making equipment in the room is a bonus as is the free safe and use of a fridge for 16 Euros for the week. (Ideal to keep the V&T in)! We overlooked the front entrance with a side sea view but no sun in the afternoon / evening but it was not noisy at night being on the street.

One of the best things at the Angela is the fantasic food. It was some of the best food I've had abroad ever and I've been on loads of package holidays over the years !! There was plenty of choice , fresh fruit in abundance. If you are fussy at what you eat then don't expect to

be pleased, yes the choice can get boring after 2 weeks but there is plenty of choice if you appreciate good food.

Fuengirola Market on Tuesday morning is only an 8 minute walk from the Hotel and should not be missed - great bargins to be had loads of fake bags etc. if your into that sort of thing - almost everything under the sun ! and yes it was hot so go early and take water with you.

I can't say what the entertainment was like, we're not really into that so we went out every evening to a great little bar we stumbled across in the back streets.Called Bar Latino it's cosy and friendly. Its owned by Brian and Arina who is dutch and Brian (bless him) came from Bermondsey SE London. Its a nice friendly bar if you just want a quite drink and chat. (Out hotel entrance go left- cross the road and take the turning by the phone boxes. Go to the end of the road turn left then right and its about 100 yards up on the left past a new Pizza

Restaurant which was just opening).

All in all we had a leisurely holiday and would definately go back in a few years time. Portland once again are great to travel with - if one moan buy what you want on the plane going out as when you come back you are limited to buying many items (ie I wanted some Clarins Body Care but was told only on the outward journey) so I missed out on this and was quite dissappointed as its not made very clear to passengers.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The Hotel Angela is a nice hotel with good size rooms that are clean and tidy, nice bathroom with hair dryer. On arrival you are dealt with efficiently and your cases taken to your room for you. There are tea and coffee making facilities and a free safe in the room. A VERY NICE WELCOME!

Apart from a few rooms at the front of the hotel the rooms either overlook the pool, a sunbathing terrace and a small street, or, on the other side of the hotel, just a small street.

All rooms seem to have a good sea view. Our booking confirmation claimed a limited sea view but we were very pleasantly surprised. We thought this would mean that

you would have to stand on the chair to catch a glimpse, but you could sit on the balcony and watch the fishing boats come and go. You could also hear the waves at night - just the thing to send you off to sleep (the San Miguel also helped a bit).

If you like the evening sun on the balcony, the rooms with the pool view are the ones you need. Although you can only request these when you book, if you find yourself on the other side of the hotel you can put your name down for a change as soon as one becomes available.

The hotel does seem to have an older clientele, and more people seem to get up to dance when they play a square tango than pop. Also, if you thought that a pool view would let you gaze on lovely tanned beauties you'd be mistaken, in fact 'not a pretty sight' is the term that springs to mind. Incidently the pool is (very) heated so no nasty shocks when you get in.

Many people that we talked to had been comming back for up to 30 years, this may be the reason for the older guests -and we can see the appeal.

The entertainment is varied, with some of it a bit ordinary, but if you do go make sure that you see the comedian Tommy Scott - excelent, also the magic show is very good.

On the down side, the drinks are a bit expensive and the waiters look very disapointed if you decline to order one with you evening meal.

All in all, a good hotel in a good location. Not much for children otherwise recommended. We would go back again (but not every year for the next 30)

the main downside to this hotel is the public seating and bar area.we like to go for a walk after our evening meal and then return to the hotel for entertainment etc. when we came out of the dining room the lounge areas were full with people reserving their places. there was absolutly nowhere to sit. needless to say we stayed out and did not return to the hotel of an evening. other guests complained of the happy hour from 8.30 to 9.30 pm. there was only one person on the bar so it took over 40 mins to get served. you only had time for one drink in the happy hour. just around the corner is the la bocca bar - try this a local bar with great measures

Rooms are of good size and are well equiped with all the necessary kitchen essentials if you wanted to cook but unfortunately the kitchenette was really small. The air conditioning was good to have. The maids were in every day to clean and leave clean towels which was really good to have. Entertainment for the kids during the day, pool tables etc, bingo at 5pm for everybody and nightly entertainment as well. The hotel was in a fantastic location straight across the road from the beach you really couldn't have been much closer! Lots of restaurants nearby and bars within walking distance.

Would suit families more than young people, who would maybe be looking for a strip of lively bars.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Our first impressions were good as we arrived as promptly as we could. The hotel staff were minimal as we arrived early in the morning, we checked in quickly and we found our own way to our apartment. The apartment was small for a 5 membered family but it catered for our needs. they have all facilities that you need including a lovely pool the only 2 things we would say about that is the older kids jumped and bombed most of the time which got very annoying and the lifeguard didnt do alot about it and also sunloungers if your not quick you wont get one as the same people got there first.

outside the complex was the beach not recommened for swimming as lots of rubbish was there but you can walk for miles for shops eateries and sheer entertainment. Gibraltar is highly recommended and so is the zoo and the market on tuesday was an eye opener but get there early as it gets very hot and packed. We ate out most nights tried a wide selection of places and found if you ate from the menu del dea you got a bargain good food for less than 5 pounds a head we were stuffed, but if you want english there is loads to chose from.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The hotel was excellent in most respects (entertainment either non-existent or very amateurish, constant loud chattering by Spanish convention members - partly due to tiling which is notoriously bad for accoustics) and fully deserving of its 4 * rating; rooms were spacious and well-appointed; food was good and plentiful (though the dining room was over air-conditioned to the point of freezing); we didn't use the pools or spa but they looked good; bars were plentiful.

The biggest problem for us was the remoteness. We're both turned 70 and although we're fit and walk a lot, we certainly couldn't walk to the centre of Fuengirola in 10 minutes; a taxi cost e12 to e13; walking back in the dark was not very pleasant because some of the route is unpaved and unlit; the bus is cheap but as the stop nearest to the hotel is the last stop on the Marbella - Fuengirola route, buses were often full and didn't stop.(Don't even think about the bus on Tuesday which is street market day in Fuengirola) Returning on the bus from Fuengirola is OK from the bus station and costs only e1.05.

We went on the train from Fuengirola to Malaga and wished we hadn't - its just a typical big city and you need to know where you're going. We would probably have been better going to Torremolinos.

I would say that if you are not keen walkers, you need a lot of money for taxis or you need to hire a car (we chickened out after watching the traffic on the main road outside the hotel). A coutesy bus from the hotel would have been a boon.

Just returned from this Hotel, on arrival we were impressed & hotel and lobby had wow factor.

Had full seaview 5th floor. But hotel is very remote at present the promenade is not finished and taxi cost 10/15euros into fuengirola as it has to pass hotel and turn.Breakfast were amazing could eat at the terrace had every fresh juice you could imagine.

Hotel caters at present more for the spanish as it is new!!Weddings at weekend and entertainment on Fri/sat but improved when due to leave 23rd June lacks ambience can feel a bit snobby as even english were not to friendly unless you spoke to them, having said that met some nice people.Evening meal improved thurs/sun when they had weddings&Spanish weekenders. But food was ok rest of week(Best meal brekkie)bikini beach bar outside of hotel good for lunch as hotel beach bar had limited food mostly main meal not snacks!Hotel said promenade will be built 6/8 months(Hopefully)

Hire car would be good!Hotel has call boxes cheaper than room!Banking machine&Internet 3 screens(no vending machine for drinks)as nothing near to hotel at least 15mins walk. would return again but when hotel is more geared up for europe & world!!Shame as hotel is beauiful!! Pool went over my head i am only 5ft that was in shallow end so need to swim,i went in kids pool but not hand rail or steps!!would say this is at present 4/5* But with set backs rooms are spacious and had big balcony.

Not your average hotel, the Beatriz Palace is a 4 star, beautiful both inside and out. Fantastic sea views from all rooms, lovely pool, plentiful sunbeds and very good food with a lot of choice.

location is right on the outskirts of Fuengirola meaning a good 30 minutes walk into the town (along beach and promenade). Apart from the pool & beach nothing for the children to do (in May at least). Entertainment may be from June onwards though.

This is a fantastic, clean, new, classy hotel - excellent.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We stayed at this gorgeous hotel for 4 nights and booked with A1 travel who were so helpful and friendly. Upon arrival into reception our opinion had already met more than its expectations. The hotel only opened in April 2004.

Our bedroom was just gorgeous and spacious. All rooms overlook the sea and pool. The bathroom was also beautifully decorated and spacious. Each morning we ate breakfast outside on the terrace, again overlooking the pool and the sea. There was everything to choose from including champagne. This hotel is ideal for those looking for a quiet location as it is situated about 10 minutes walk from the hussle and bustle of the town. There are plenty of bars and nice restaurants to choose from along the way.

There are also plenty of coffee bars to choose from inside the hotel, a very nice one is the piano bar whereby you can get a nice cold beer and go onto the terrace outside. The prices of the drinks in the hotel are also very reasonable. A small beer around 1 euro 50 cents.

All in all I would most definitely recommend this lovely friendly hotel. For those with young children there was a childrens entertainer always by the pool who seemed very enthusiastic. If anyone is looking for treatments (massage, beauty treatments) go treat yourself in the spa. I shall most certainly be going back to this hotel.

After having to wait for 3 hours to check in, we finally got our rooms and i must say, these were of excellent standard. They were very clean, spacious, with a nice balcony. Entertainment was a bit repetative, bingo every night, quite expensive aswell. Shopping centre is brilliant! Wanted to buy all of the puppies in the pet shop. Self-catering facilities were excellent as there were plenty of supermarkets close by with good prices. Although there were some good walks along the beach front, there was a lack of public toilets which ment that you had to walk back to your hotel. The indoor swimmingpool was excellent and well heated.

Overall this was a brilliant holiday and we would deffinatly go again! :-)

My/Our Holiday Review:

We have just returned from a week at the Castle Beach Hotel in the half term break. The hotel itself is well maintained but the location leaves a lot to be desired. We are all reasonably fit but the walk to and from the beach, shops and bars, particularly at night and unfortunately for us, in the rain for half of the holiday, was a little offputting to say the least. The route was poorly lit and we had to walk due to a lack of taxis and a very unreliable bus service which though cheap and available to catch oppostite the hotel, very often didn't turn up at all.

There was very little to do in Fuengirola at night and we found ourselves sitting in bars watching repeats of the football matches on Sky every night. Our teenagers particularly found it hard to find something to amuse them. At night they either stayed with us or went to one of the two or so discos that we found on the beachfront. The weather wasn't very good and when it was sunny the pool was too cold to use and if they wanted to use the indoor pool they had to wear swimming caps which understandably they wouldn't wear.

We went on trips to Marbella and Tormelinos on buses from the bus station in the centre of town and about a 30 min walk or a short journey on the local bus, and to the zoo which is strangely situated in the middle of Fuengirola in the residential area.

Overall, the hotel itself was average and there was little to do in the resort. This is not a place we will be visiting again.

we would like to comment on our recent holiday to the costa del sol where we stayed at the castle beach.

the hotel its self was very nice how ever the food left alot to be deciered the entertainment was excellent, the shows were however ruiend by a bad sound systeam and why did we have to listen to some spanish guy speaking three diffrent langueges when it was clear the room was full of british the daytimes were very quiet although the entertainers did try to get people joining in liam one of the entertainers is a good entertainer and very good with our kids he deserves a medal for putting up with children. ally is the team leader of entertainments and is very loud and should be praised for what she does and has a very good voice. martin is very freindly and good at his job and is good with the adults witch gives the team a good variety. jodie and sarah are great dancers and did well in the shows.

the down side about the entertainment is that there is no bingo as the spainsh team leadere mark says no as he is a boring guy and doesent do anything but play football and give the entertainers a hard time.

christina another spanish entertainer has a fantastic voice and should be on pop idol.the hotel would be better if they had no spanish entertainers and pure english.

in genral the hotel is fantastic and is a shame that airtours is pulling out as they have done well keepingg us entertained. recommend this hotel to everyone of all ages but only for the rest of this year.

My/Our Holiday Review:

After reading some of the reviews, i was a bit concerned but i needn't have worried. the hotel was great! the room was very clean & the maid service was much better than we expected - the room seemed to be cleaned every couple of days. even though we were half board, we had kitchen facilities. the food in the restaurant was good with plenty of choice. the bars were a bit expensive but that's only to be expected & with 2 happy hours per day, you couldn't really complain! you can't take kids inside the english pub but you can sit outside with them so this was never a problem.

the reps were fantastic - especially andy, martin, ally & matt (escape) - we know they read this!!! there was something going on most of the time - in fact we had a hard time getting the kids to leave the hotel at all!

the hotel is a bit out of the way but there is an excellent bus service & the myramar shopping centre next door has a large supermarket so distance was not really a problem.

only negative was that our room overlooked land awaiting development so we didn't really use the balcony. we would have preferred a room overlooking the pool.

we have been told that this hotel won't be offered to british holiday makers after this year. this is a real shame as it would definitely have been worth another visit.

Stayed in this aparthotel for just two nights but the hotel was great. Room was very spacious for five of us, cooking facilities were basic but adequate for holidays, I mean who wants to cook a 3 course meal. Didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on that but did have one drink in the bar which was a bit expensive, hence, just the one. There was entertainment as well though. Swimming pool etc seemed really good.

The bus into Fuengirola stops right outside the hotel and is less than a euro so well worth it and we got a taxi back very easily. Never walked across the bridge which was supposed to be the haunt of the gypsies. Can't comment on this because we didn't walk over it but never to my knowledge seen any hanging around the hotel.

All in all, a good cheap hotel to visit.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Hi,

First of all, i would like to point out that i am a travel agent, i work for the uk's largest independant agent.

I travelled to the Castle Beach for a week of winter sun with my mum, after reading all the comments i was very worried.

I called airtours before i went and they assured me that there had not been an undue amount of complaints and certainley nothing serious, so i went with an open mind.

Flight good, although delayed but that is someithing you just have to expect when travelling charter.

Upon arrival hotel looked very modern although was in quite a bleak location.

We arrived on a Sunday, and in Spain all shops close all day so if you are going on a sunday take some bread etc to get you through to nect morning, as there are only large supermarkets around the Castle Beach no mini - markets or anything.

1 bed apt was one of the best i had stayed in large enough for me and my mum, but for a family of 5 might be a bit cramped... but they do do a 2 bed apt for not much more so bear it in mind if you have a largeish family.

The hotel was all in all pretty impressive the reception area was lovely as was the pool area obviously i was travelling off peak so it was empty but it was huge so i cannot imagine it would ever be too crazy in summer.

Staff were fine as was the rep, i cannot say anymore about them as i never had any reason to use them.

Fuengirola was about a 15 min walk away either along the sea front or in through the main road, both were lovely walks as there was something to look at both ways.

However opposite the hotel was a large shopping centre with a HUGE supermarket, which was open 10-10 mon to fri, and across the 'gypsey' bridge was a Dunnes and a Lidl, which were open 9-8 mon to sat.

Gypseys - this was what i was most worried about, i am going to be dead obvious they were there but we never actually saw them when we were out and about, and the one time they were in the field opposite with their dogs we told reception and they called the police and they mover them. As far as i am concerned as long as you bear in mind that they are around and take precautions ie dont walk across the gyppo bridge i think you would be fine - i was.

The main drawback for me personally (and remember these reviews are all just personal opinions) was the restaurant, the food it served was lukewarm at best and the choice was poor. For e12 you could eat better anywhere in Fuengirola, i even had a 2 course meal in Puerto Banus on the marina for e16 which was 100 times better than the restaurant at the hotel.

Also across the road from the hotel was a restaurant called 'Wok' i would not hesitate to reccomend it - you choose raw meats/fish/veg etc and they wok cook it for you infront of you!! They also have starters and pudding and it was a total bargain at e12 (same as hotel restaurant!).

There is also the local bus into the town centre if you dont want to walk it operates every 15 mins and costs 85 cents, also i would suggest using the local bus service to Mijas it was e1 and totally worth it, its only 20 mins up the mountain and the views are amazing.

To sum up - i would not hesitate recommending the Castle Beach hotel to anyone, unless they dont want to walk at all, or just want to stay entirely on complex as the restaurant could be 100% better in my opinion!!

Dont let the reviews put you off too much, go on your hols with an open mind, and i am sure you will have a lovely time, i did!!

me and my boyfriend have just recently got back from castle beach hotel in fuengirola it was absolutlty fab had a great holiday.

hotel was really nice and clean. rooms are spacious and are also very clean.entertainment is also very good and reception staff and reps are really helpfull and very nice. as for the muggins on the bridge over to dunnes and lydl we never seen or herd of any whilst we were at castle beach however i would not reccomend to go over at night as it is very dark and you will not be able to see if anyone is lerking around.

The myramar shopping complex is literally oppisite the hotel and is full of nice shops including a zara and mango. it is about a 15 minute walk to the front and a futher 5 - 10 to resturauntsand bars.we did not go to the beach as it was quiete gritty and waves get quite high esspecially for little one's. fuengirola town is really nice full of shops from shoe shops, sunglasses to little boutiques. at night we we ate out in fuengirola town and there are a few i would reccomend the Aroma Which is a very ellegant restaurant with great staff however is quite expensive to eat every nite. Don miguel is another very cheap 9 euro for a three coarse meal with a drink.O'Brians is also a good bar and plays all the matches for the boys.

We would defnatly reccomend castle beach and are thinking of going back next year.

We looked at this site a day before we were due to leave. After reading about the robberies and muggings by the gypsies just by the hotel we were not loooking forward to our holiday. fortunately the problem had been sorted and the gypsies had been moved on. However, the reps suggested that we still shouldnt use the bridge towards Dunnes store. The hotel was spotless and the maids very friendly and helpful. The pool was fine but not allowed lilos/balls in the main pool. The nursery nurses were very friendly and my little boy loved going there.

The bar prices were very expensive compared to town and the sangria was watered down. The bar staff were unfriendly and the sportsbar never opened so internet access not available.

There was nowhere locally that you could watch football locally so you had to trail into town.

we didnt have any problems with time share touts or people bothering us with glasses etc.

You should go to the zoo it is excellent and in walking distance. We went to Gib, the kids loved the monkeys we would suggest the trip and not the shopping trip.

The evening entertainment was poor, however the reps shows were better than the outside entertainers.

Overall we had a nice relaxing stay but I think well try the greek islands next year and give the Costas a miss.

Stayed here before - ok then but not now. Fuengirola itself is great but you have to hire a car to see it all. We spent as much time as we could out of the hotel.

Hotel has turned into a youth centre with teenagers/early 20s shouting, singing etc around the pool area until well past 2.30 am - 3.00 am (at times still at 5.00 am). Entertainment is not that good and kids club was much better last year.

Bar prices very expensive (3 Euro 50 for a bottle of Bacardi Breezer - selling for 1 Euro 29 in the Eroski supermarket over the road). They have a sign up saying only to drink their drinks but we stashed our bag full every night and drank our own.

Accommodation is ok and is clean.

Did not witness any muggings or here of any whilt we were there but as we had a car did not need to cross the bridge. There is a really bad smell at night if you have a room that is not overlooking the pool. But if you have a pool view then you here the screaming and shouting. Which is worse.....?

The Castle Beach is the best place I have ever stayed. We could not fault it at all.

It was further out of fuengirola and was about 15 minute walk to the beach, this suited us as I found Fuengirola has gone a bit scruffy. It still has plenty to do though and loads of restaurants and bars.

Next to the castle beach their is a huge commercial centre with over 140 shops, restaurants, cafes and cinemas. Fully air conditioned so great for them hot days or evenings.

The pool at the hotel was fab it was like walking in to the sea from the beach. Loads to do kids club, creche, football, tennis, Spa with indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, massage.

You could quite easily stay at the hotel for the whole holiday without leaving apart from shopping.

Rooms were fab, plenty of room, well equiped kitchen, air conditioning, lovely decor.

I would definately rate the hotel as a 4*

Would definately go back. Would recommend to anyone.

Rep told us about not using the bridge to Dunnes & Lidl but to around the road using the big bridge outside of the Myramar Shopping Centre ( open 10-10 lots of very good shops and a supermarket for those items we are need on holiday.

Food:-

Breakfast could not be faulted very wide choice

Evening meal left a lot to be desired and let the restaursant down

Staff excellent alround, plenty of sunbeds for everyone and the pool has a lifeguard on duty all day. Plenty of entertainent for both kids and grownups around the pool area all day.

Hotel is a little way out of the town centre but there is a very good bus service takes you into town ( every 30 mins ) and it only costs 90 cents for an adult.

Overall a very good holiday at this hotel only one thing let it down ( evening meal ).

The hotel is also self catering we were in a 2 bedded room with lots of space for a family of 6 alround the rooms were excellent.

The hotel is clean, comfortable and very efficiently run with a good choice of food, we could find nothing to fault it.

A little walk into the town from the hotel but we found a great bar to have a drink and some good food in on the way down the sea front. The bar was called ¨Lady Blue¨.

Lots to see and do during the day in Fuengirlo and good markets!!!

Well ariived here on a AOA deal - when we got here thought great -hotel was pleasant, rooms were spacious and well equipped even though we Went on a half board basis we still had all the euipmet to self cater including a microwave. the breakfast was ok plenty to choose from - the usual cereal, toast, yoghurt, fruit, bread jam, eggs bacon sausage n beanz etc, but the evening meal was a bit repetetive and uninteresting. the food was left too long in the hot plates and wasnt that warm. We found that the menu displayed in the foyer would state things like duck a la orange and grilled veal - but when you got to the restaurant there was no such thing just a cheap cut of meat n fishfingers, chips etc etc - sounded very nice though even though we didnt see any of it!!

Drinks were quite pricey in the bar - e3 for a pint which ok was average, but I was shocked at the price for a tiny bottle of coke - e1.70 for a 20cl bottle - rip off or what! Spirits were e4 inc mixer but that was quite dear too I thought. We ended up going to lidl n getting a few can and staying in our room playing cards, because on the first few nights we went into the town which was a dark 15min walk - when we got there it was dead as I dont know what - us and another handful of people only walking about and nobody in the bars at all - time of year I spose!

We tried the entertainment at the hotel but it was a nightly ritual to play bingo and then - well - it just wasnt our scene. We hired a car for 3 days and got to see some of the place - went to Gibralta for the day which was a must, but dont try to bring more than you are allowed back into Costa D Sol because they DO check your carrier bags at the customs.

Ronda is a great place in the mountains to go to, lovely country village with lots of history, lots of shops there too girls! Estepona is a nice up n coming place to go and have a look at. All in all we had a nice relaxing holiday and I would visit again but maybe more in season than out. Watch out for the scratchcard people who harrass the hell out of you and the looky looky men!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

The Myramar Castle Beach (Myramar is a big construction company in the area) is situated about 15 minutes walk from the seafront of Fuengirola. Unless you really like having the beach on your doorstep, don't let this put you off, for us the location was fine.

The hotel consists of three buildings, which surround the swimming pools, all three buildings have apartments. Building One holds reception and the indoor pool, gym and sauna (Gym and Sauna have a daily charge). Rubber hats have to be worn if using the INDOOR pool, you can buy them there. Building Two holds the restaurant and Pub. Building Three is accommodation only.

The public areas are well maintained and we always saw hotel staff cleaning, sweeping, watering, trimming and generally keeping things looking good. The reception staff speak very good English and were always very helpful.

The pool area is very attractive with lots of trees, plants and water features. There is a children's pool and a main pool, which is huge. The pool is unusual in that when you look towards it, it is about 50 metres wide by 10 metres long. Along it's entire width the pool gradually slopes towards 3 large steps (just like stairs, not metal steps), which run the entire length of the pool before you get into the deep water which is only about 1.7 metres deep. This gives the effect of being on the beach. You can only get to the water via the 'beach' as the other three sides have subtle fencing which prevent them from being walked on which means there is no diving. There are lots of sun beds (even in peak season there were spaces) and umbrellas right along the 50 metre beach and a lifeguard. Also, no inflatables allowed in main pool.

Dotted around the grounds there is a football/tennis court, golf driving net, many pool tables, table tennis, crazy golf and air hockey.

We were lucky to get a ground floor room in Building Three facing the pool which meant we had a large patio (2-3 times bigger than balconies on other floors) and could sit out on the sun beds with a gate to the pool area - best of both worlds. There was a bedroom with plenty of wardrobe space, a little entrance lobby that had a small bed/settee big enough for a toddler, a lounge with two settee/beds, a kitchenette with hob, fridge and microwave, table and chairs. The bathroom had a bath (with shower head), WC, sink and shower cubicle. The room had good aircon, which was controlled by a thermostat in the lounge, but the patio doors had to be closed for it to work. There was also a safe that cost 15 euros a week.

The only minor issues we had were:-

1. The walls appeared to be quite thin so if you had noisy and inconsiderate neighbours on one side (not British) like we did, you could hear them shouting and sliding the wardrobes doors shut - take ear plugs!

2. 75% of the towels we got we very worn and about as effective as drying yourself with a plastic bag

3. There was no hot water on a morning but plenty after about 11am.

We put 2 & 3 on our Hotel feedback form.

The daytime entertainment was very good as the Airtours Team were enthusiastic, particularly Andy who was a bit camp, but great fun - think of a rotund Dale Winton. There was a mixture of activities for Adults and 11-16 year olds but in the main everyone took part in most things. In the mornings there was normally a table tennis/killer darts/killer pool competition, followed by aquasize in the pool (aquarobics), especially good if Andy was in charge, a Quiz at 12:30 to win a jug of Sangria and in the afternoon a game of Water Polo for 12's and over which has anything between 5 a side and 17 a side depending on who joined in. Then another game of something mid afternoon.

The evening activities started at 20.30 with a mini disco, Bingo or something similar at 21.30 and the main event at 22.00. This was either a show/singing/audience participation show done by the entertainments team or a magic/singing/flamenco act. We only attended a few which were fine. Based on the noise we could hear from our room, which usually stopped before midnight, the people that did go seemed to have a good time).

The hotel was about 5 minutes walk from a large indoor shopping centre (think Meadowhall, White Rose if you know Yorkshire). You had to walk round the hotel to get there but it did mean that the only people walking past the hotel reception were from the hotel, not people just passing through. The shopping centre had a large Eroski supermarket which sold everything you could possibly want.

Going further a field you had to cross the river to get anywhere other than the Shopping Centre. There are two bridges, the main road bridge and the footbridge. The reps advised us to use the road bridge owing to stories of unsavoury characters/muggings etc. To be honest the only reason that it would be quicker to use the footbridge would be if you were going to the Dunnes Store or the Wok Restaurant (highly recommended). All I would say is, use your common sense. We used the footbridge when it was light and when there were other people using it and never had a problem. A couple of times at dusk we did see people hanging about at one end and to me that would be a sign not to use it.

To get into Fungiorola, the road bridge is the quickest way. The route is not straight forward but the best way we found was to go over the road bridge, under the dual carriageway, past the SsaanYong/Kia garage, turn first right and go past the Red Cross office, cross over the road at the pedestrian crossing and turn left, go past the Mosque and then cut across the scruffy car parks until you get to the front. The front is not as nice as others in the area (Marbella, Puerto Banus) as although there is a good wide footpath next to the beach, there is also a road which brings the obvious traffic noise and smell which means eating on the front is not that tempting. The best places to eat are in Fish Alley, which is a series of back steets (walk down the bar side of the front until you see a sign for Maxis Disco and then turn left) containing eating-places. Ours favourites were El Castillo Argentinean Steak House and Shaafi's Indian where we ate twice, along with the Wok back near the hotel. There we many others but the ones we tried were nothing special. If you don't want to be approached by North Africans selling sunglasses, DVD's and watches ask for a table inside.

We also ate twice at the Hotel. It was pretty standard hotel fare but there was plenty of it and it was very reasonably priced, 44 euros for 3 Adults and 1 child with 2 bottles of water and a bottle of house wine thrown in. The three places mentioned above came in at about 65-75 euros.

We hired a car and visited Mijas, which was very picturesque with great views of the area; it was also very busy but somehow retained its charm. We also went to the Aquapark at Torremolinos, recommend that you get there before 10am, which is when it opens, hit all the rides early and you shouldn't have to queue. By 11am it was very busy and the queues were horrendous. They also have a bizarre money making scheme where as well as paying the entrance price (18 Euros each) you could hire your own rubber tube for 10 euros to save you queuing for rings as people came off the slides - IE queue for the ride if you hire a ring, queue for a ring AND then queue for the ride if you don't have a ring. That being said, there was a good selection of slides plus a wave pool.

In summary I would say that Fuengirola is very commercialised and built up and not as smart as other resorts we visited, but if you are a family looking for a good hotel based holiday in the sun, with good eating/shopping on the doorstep I would have no hesitation in recommending the Castle Beach.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Second time in two years to these apartments so I knew what to expect.

First of all, the site - clean spacious apartments with a first class air conditioning system. Rooms cleaned every couple of days and no complaints about the accommodation. Loads of free sunbeds and no need to "book" them in the morning! Entertainment continues to be patchy but the reps try hard to put on a show. Daytime activities such as water polo, football, mini golf, quizzes etc well attended. Reception staff very pleasant, as are bar staff in poolside bar. Sadly same cant be said about barman in other bar. Have complained about him before for short changing and not handing over till receipts. Could believe it when he short changed me on my very first round of drinks. Beware!

Security in and around the building is poor. I had my bag snatched from literally under my nose by five Spanish kids who had gate-crashed the facilities. Managed to retrieve it after a chase. Why do they let gangs of kids into the site if they're not resident?

Outside the site wasnt any better. My son's pal had his wallet taken off him on the bridge outside the shopping centre next door in broad daylight. (The bridge that the reps urge you to use as the other bridge is unsafe due to muggings!)

Spoke to a guest who had written to Airtours for assurances about safety and security after reading some reports. Airtours replied that Police patrols were being stepped up. Well, I didnt see a single police car/man in the vicinity in 2 weeks.

Clientele is now very mixed with a fair amount of Scandanavians. I believe Airtours now only take 35 apartments out of a total of 160. Word is they're dropping Castle Beach from their programme.

Fuengirola is a big, bustling, noisy resort which has been described as "down-market". It has its fair share of low life but also loads of bars and restaurants so theres bound to be something to suit everyone.

Tivoliworld Amusement Park at Benalmadena is worth a visit. Fuengirola Zoo claims to be "one of the best Zoos in the World" but they dont say why. Saw everything in about one hour. Mijas Water Park along from Castle Beach is small but good fun.

Good luck!

My/Our Holiday Review:

First time been to the Costa Del Sol and Fuerengirola. Very disapointed with resort, alot of people said how each year it is getting quieter. We went out of season which I don't think made a difference apart from water worlds not being open. Not many good places to eat or bars with any entertainment for the kids, I went with my mam dad and niece and they all thought the same.

Castle Beach Apts cannot be faulted, very clean, lovely pool and sun bathing area. Poolside cafe very popular. Apts spacious and clean although I'd ask for poolside balcony we had the opposite side which meant no sun at any point in the day. Entertainment bit naf, kids club they try but same disco every night for an hour. The myramar shopping centre next door to these apartments great, loads of shops and the american diner restaurant is great, food lovely. Yellow bus outside of hotel 90cts to go anywhere. Went to Tivoli World, kids enjoyed but nothing spectacular there if your used to amusement parks you'll have been to better and you have to get the bus then the train to Benalmadena to get there.

AJ Sport Bar is the only bar we found that was friendly, superb pint of lager and food nice. Liverpudlians run it and are great, also have European Cup there for your photo with it. All in all great accommodation but do not rate the resort at all.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We travelled to the Castle Beach apartments out of season and so therefore cannot comment on the pool/entertainment situation.

I feel very strongly that I need to comment on the "Bridge issue". I was terrified before we left given the reviews we had read, however, we didnt see/experience or hear about anything whilst we were there, in fact mum and I found the bridge to be a fantastic passtime. Considering the location some of the wildlife to be seen was extrodinary. I appreciate that this is not everyones cup of tea but in comparison to the scare stories written here i think it is note worthy. Obviously we took the appropriate precautions and didnt cross alone or at night because of what we had read.

On to more informative things. The Zoo was not what you would expect. I, personally dont like zoos but given the crap weather we decided to go for something to do. Take the time to read the stories about the animals they will both appall you and warm you to the plight of the zoo, most of these animals are rescued from horrendous situations and depend on us visitors for funding to keep them out of the 2 foot cages they have lived in in the past.

I have to tell you one other thing. We had a late night flight home and were left hanging for days about late checkout, We offered to pay a fair bit of money and still no joy. It meant we had to check out at 10am and didnt leave intil 12midnight. Speak to your rep, do not let this happen to you, it spoilt an otherwise relaxing holiday

een before loved it then ok this time. Bar prices through the roof 3euro for a pint 4euro for smirnoff ice buy your own at supermarket is my advice or in town is half the price. Bar staff are very UNfriendly watch your change short changed on more than one occasion, especially the kids which really got my back up. Only good advice is watch for happy hour as the bars have different hours at night we would go to the old castle for drinks and take them to other lounge to watch entertainment.

Entertainment at night was ok but got a bit repetitive kids thought it was great. REPS were great at night got the whole room involved though with a few other guests it was really hard work!!

Reception Staff friendly enough though our party of 16 that had booked 3 apartments were all split up we expected to be on same floor but used the internal phones to our advantage. Rooms good mine a bit grubby could have been cleaner had a wee army of ants but mums and sister-in-laws were spotless. Also party of seven and only got 5 bath and 5 hand towels every 2nd day not enough!!

Resort ok had done it all before so sunned ourselves most days at either the pool or beach(watch out at beach steep incline going in to water). Shops ok the usual bucket shops but look around as prices vary!!

Watch were you are eating Jumbo's on front beautiful very clean and for any other scots out there they sell IRN BRU, we also ate at The London Bar which was really nice most enjoyable dinner had by all put tables together to acomadate 16 food top nosh. One place to give a wide berth is SAM'S staff were lovely but the food was rank!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

hello,

i am a teenager commenting for a change!,although my parents did have some comments to make!,

starting with my parents comments about 'plastic glasses',which annoyed my mam n dad because they said 'it didnt taste as well',but i'm sure it was just a safety precaution!,

the stagment river is horrible!we had two apartments looking onto the river even though we asked for a pool view but technically we did get a 'pool view'!,i watched the river get greener by the day,and it smelt terrible, although we did see many marine wildlife in the river such as tortoises, eels, fish etc!

we heard of muggings but did not witness any although i saw a man sitting late at night on a dark bench across the bridge by the disco 'mangu' waiting to approach people who were seldomly crossing the bridge.

as i am a teenage boy,i easily found friends from ireland, scotland and iceland with one or two from england!

the emtertainers were great, although there was a break of activities from around 12 midday to 3/4 in the evening.

the irish bar was great with a happy hr from 11pm till 12 midnight which was so popular with the guests that you would have to queue for twenty minutes before getting a drink!

there was also a happy hr in the evening at the poolside bar from 5pm till 6pm which was easier to get a drink in!

the town centre was also good but you would have to walk for approx 20 mins to get there or get a bus for 80c outside the complex.i would defo recommend the irish bar -o'briens' in the town centre which was quite cheap!

i tryed the buffet restaurant once which was very nice although you do have to pay extra for a drink of your choice, adding onto the ?12 standard meal price.

the pool was very nice and clean although once or twice it would have to close because of two english 18yr old manchester girls-rachel & rachel-who were constantly throwing their empty wkd bottles into the pool!

the pool tables and arcade machines were always having problems as you had to put in two seperate ?1 coins which was quite annoying!

another annoying thing was when the entertainers kept on playing the song-cartoon heroes by aqua

all in all,it was the best ever holiday i've been on and would love to go back but my parents didn't like the resort although the apts were excellent,

ian

My/Our Holiday Review:

After reading some of the reviews on here we went feeling maybe we had made a mistake on booking for our weeks holiday. We our pleased to report that we had a really good holiday.

The reps were very helpful and did warn us on two occassions about not walking over the first bridge. On the first day we visited Lidl & Dunnes which is over the bridge but you can take the longer route and go via the second bridge which we did but the weather was very hot and on the way back we came over the first bridge and we were ok. I would say you do have to take care and just be aware of people around you but this does apply to anywhere you go. We would not advise anyone to be walking back to the Castle beach late at night as it is quite a walk back from the main front and is fairly quiet once you pass the Mirimar shopping complex. Visit the Miramar which has plenty of shops open until 10pm it has a supermarket called Eroski which sells pretty much everthing you need very clean building and has a food court upstairs pleny of choices.

The reception staffat Castle beach our very helpful and will phone taxis for you which arrive within a minute-a good service. You can catch a bus outside and a timetable is available from reception. The room we had was very clean and the maid visited three times. It was fairly basic with furnishings etc, they did ask us did we want a cot but my son is 22 months so all of us slept in the twin beds as the couches which doubled up as beds were not safe for young children to sleep on in case they fell off onto the hard floor. But the kids loved us all sharing and we all slept well.

We did not spend much time at the Castle beach as we had family staying near by and we visited other places. We would recommend getting out and about as there is so much more to see and do. We spent two days by the pool which was clean and plenty of beds, if you are planning to spend the day by the pool you do need to put towels down from 8am as they do all go by 11am. If you have little ones do be aware that the little pool is very slippy just as you go down a slope to walk in, my liitle boy slipped on the first day and banged his head badly we were lucky he did not cut it.

We only seen one night of the entertainment and all the children seemed to be enjoying it, they put on a show which was good and after that they had kareoke for the adults.

The walk to Feungirola is about 20 minutes but worth a visit especially at night bustling with plenty of choices to eat even down the side streets. The beach is good but you have to pay for sunbeds and the parasol cost us 8 euros. The sand is hot, hot, hot so don't go barefoot.

Visit Belmadena this has a lovely promenade and again very busy at night the harbour is fanatstic the kids loved looking at the boats and fish, there where hundreds of them. We visited Selwo in Belamedena which had shows of parrots, sea lions and dolphins. Go of evening open until 11pm much cooler then and you probably get to see all of the shows.

We would definatly go back but try and stay in Belamadena, as we wanted to see more than what we did. The Costa Del Sol is lovely and we would recommend it, there is something for everyone and your holiday is what you make it.

Our daughter who is nearly 4 said can we go home mext year? She loved every minute we are thinking of even returning this August!

If you are giong here soon our advice would be RELAX & ENJOY.

The hotel is nice apartments are big and clean staff helpfull food poor entertainment poor bar prices over the top.

Some distance from the town centre and the local taxi will only take 3 be it adult or children.

Big pool kids area not alot for kids to do.

Lots of muggings in the area large numbers of Spanish and Morrocan criminals attacking Holiday makers with knives and guns large amount of dr*g taking on the beach at night and dr*gs and fights in the centre.

Police very very heavy handed see someone on the ground even a heart attack and stop to help the police arrive they use there sticks and hit everyone to get them out of the way they assume it's a drunk and quickly break up the people.

Also remember to carry ID which is the law in Spain the police are doing random street searches at the moment they move into a street and stop everyone no ID and you are taken to the police station and fined up to 300 euros.

Going to the Costa del Sol and you are taking a chance with your life at the moment.

the apts were fantastic, and the holiday was very good.

i just feel that i need to comment on the aragent attitude of the resort manager . he was abusive and rude to myself and my husband on many ocasions. when ever we approached him he was always busy.

in england i am a customer service manager for marks and spencers and if i ever spoke to a customer the way he does they would not be in a job.

i felt sorry for the lovely reps working along side him, other customer made coments on his bad attitude and all he could talk about was what he was doing with his girlfriend that night.

i do feel very strongly about this. if he is the resort manager and running a big resort like this i do feel that my travel, airtours holidays and direct holidays need to take a good hard look at their recruitment department.

we did have a good holiday and did not let him spoil it for us.we would travel back to castle beach and with my travel but we would all make enquires to see if he was still the big boss as he kept telling people.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The hoilday itself was great.

The apartment was lovely and clean and maids came in regularly, the food was ok now and then.

The staff was all nice and frendly (reps and hotel staff).

The pool was not as big as it looked in the brochure but it was big enough.

The entertainment was ok some evenings, as we went out some nights.

There wasnt alot for teenagers to do, lucky they made friends with other teenagers.

While we were there a couple of people were mugged on the foot bridge by the hotel, like anywhere you have to be carefull at times.

The scratch cards people were a pain and say anything and give u a winning scratch card for timeshare.

The drink in the hotel was a bit expensive but if you dint want to go out the bar was there.

The shops is only 10 min walk and the beach is only 15 to 20 min walk but you can get a bus which stops outside the hotel.

The waterpark and the zoo both were good fun and only 15 min walk to both of them.

We are thinking of going back again in a couple of years time, as we all did enjoy it.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

just got back from two weeks, got robbed on the 4th day, by gypsies selling flowers on the beach front.found out other guests got robbed on the footbridge leading to dunnes and lidl as many as 4 in one morning. when we spoke to the rep and asked him why he didnt warn guests about local crime, he said he did, which of course he did not.if you get robbed remember to keep your receipt to say you have the money. joke isnt it but that is what the insurance company asks for.

any way the hotel was lovely kept pretty clean, staff were friendly. entertainment wasnt up to much, which was a bit disappointing, considering you are quite a bit out of the town. bingo was ridiculouse.

did you see the picture of the pool in the brochure for this year, it shows kids with lilos and balls, swimrings. well your not allowed anything in the pool. which is a bit unfair on the kids. life guard is a bit cheeky.

two happy hours a day at the bars which makes up for the prices.food was average nothing to rave about.

to be fair the hotel itself is lovely and a holiday is what you make of it. i would consider going back but going out for entertainment.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Have just spent ten days at these apartments and had a very good holiday. The apartments were quite roomy for two people, would not have wanted to share with another couple or children as the storage space does not cater for four large suitcases. Not having an oven was a disadvantage but the mocrowave was a boon especially as the kettle took ages to boil! The fridge was a disappointment as it was only a larder fridge so no frozen food could be purchased.

The younger section of our party had pre booked a room on the ground floor which was brilliant for the children and the courtyard was quite spacious and safe for the children. The whole complex was child friendly and the lifeguards were very vigilant, the swimming pool was user friendly but as it was getting towards the end of season the cleaniness particularly round the grids was left a lot to be desired.

The Airtours reps were very good and nothing was too much trouble for them. The restaurant food was good value for money as it was a buffet and you could eat as much as you liked. The shopping centre was excellent and Dunnes stores/Lidls are also very close, but beware of the gypsies, if they don't see your bags they will not bother you though.

A very enjoyable holiday was had by all.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Our Third Holiday with 'Direct Holidays' and again we had a wonderful time. The hotel was excellent, could not fault it. All the staff were helpful and cheerful, with maid service every other day.Never had a problem getting a table and chairs in the evening to watch the entertainment. The Happy Hour is a great idea, but get to the bar early.

The Hotel is set in a very quiet area at night,be very vigilant went walking back in the evening as a woman infront of us had her bag stolen just by the hotel. But they have now stepped up security, with both the hotel security and the Police.

The beach is a short bus ride away,DO NOT hire a car, as there is NO where to park. The beach is lovely and clean, very long and always somewhere to sit.Never had a problem getting sun beds with a parasol(e8.00).Plenty of good restaurants, but go to the ones down the back streets. The only bad point of eating out is the constant pestering of 'street entertainers'. There are some very good chinese and italian restaurants. If you want value for money,go to JUMBOS,english run and very good service.

After your meal, take a short walk down the front towards the hotel and stop for a drink or 6 at 'THE GUN'. Great entertainment and good beer.

We hired a car for 5 days to look around the area. Gibraltar is a must.Do not be put off by the long queue,is soon goes down. Drive to the lighthouse at the end, then up the Rock to the Apes, and into the cool caves. If you smoke then the town will be heaven to you.Cigarettes only £8.00 for 200, Yes you read it right,£8.00 for 200.I do not smoke so did not purchase any.But I did purchase some 'Coco Channel and Dune' at £16.00 each, £50.00 or more in England.

Ronda is also worth a visit,a lovely old fashioned Spanish town.

The best 'Water Park' is at Torremolinos about e17.00 each .

All in all a very enjoyable Holiday was had by all the Family.

My/Our Holiday Review:

2 Adults & 3 teenagers all self catering.

After arrival at hotels reception the formalities of allocations of rooms etc were completed with very little fuss and we were off to start our holiday.

The room was very spacious and clean. There was plenty of room for all 5 to live and sleep in comfort.

Cooking was very basic 2 electric rings and a microwave, which was enough for breakfast as that was the only time for any cooking. We had to request a tin opener, which promptly arrived. Our room overlooked a huge building site that had been cleared. There wasn't anything going on, but be aware building must be going to happen - soon.

The swimming pool isn't as big as the pictures in the brochures portray and has steps down could be a hazard for the very young. For the amount of holiday makers the pool could have been larger. The lifeguards are sometimes over zealous and the individuals seem to have different priorities.

There were plenty of sun beds/shades and they were surprisingly comfortable.

We only had one meal from the snack bar that seemed okay except for the kid's pizza which looked horrible and tasted horrible. May be a one off bad day.

There is a huge supermarket close by which provides everything that you can think of and at prices compatible with home. Beware its easy to fill up your trolley with too much to carry, especially with the usual 5 litres of water.

The Airtour entertainers were wonderful and very enthusiastic. There was always plenty to do during the day and the evenings entertainment was usually quite good with what seemed a very limited budget.

Our teenagers played the organised sports, especially football every day and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. A word of warning: The football/tennis court needs urgent repair to the fence. Over the years people have been getting under the metal linked fence to retrieve the ball and it now curls up in many places overlapping the playing area. The playing surface is stone chipping which could cause nasty 'gravel rashes' if fallen on. Also the tennis net and posts are stored to one side of the playing area, easily to catch feet on. One young girl broke her arm in the first week whilst playing football.

The beach is a long hike over and under various obstacles to get to. To be honest it's not worth the bother as the beach is gritty with usually large waves. No chance of snorkelling.

As we were self catering we walked into Fuengirola most nights. This is a considerable walk over a river (hundreds of fish to feed); a dual carriageway; footbridge over a 'motorway' and a hike along footpaths which at times are extremely narrow and uneven due to trees and cars blocking the route. We also encountered motor scooters a few times on the bridge over the motorway. Pushchairs and wheelchairs would find this a major problem, but there is a regular bus service into town from the hotel.

Places to eat on the front are the Piccadilly (lovely roast) Old London Pub and the chinese next door where you get a 4 course meel for 4 euros.

The hotel is quite remote and we did hear of muggings taking place close to the hotel which did worry us.

Overall, we enjoyed our holiday at the Castle Beach it was comfortable, peaceful and there was plenty to do for everyone. The Airtours entertainers were a great help. The hotel was very good, but we wouldn't go back as the hotel was too far out of town - the kids would.

Resort Rating: Excellent

Accommodation Rating: Excellent

My/Our Holiday Review:

We had booked out holiday weeks before we were due to go, which mean't that our accommodation was "allocated on arrival", so we were quite aprehensive of what we were going to be staying in.

However, upon arriving at the Castle Beach Apartments, we could not have hoped for any better. The Room was brilliant and had everything we needed for s/c.

The Welcome meeting was very informative...if not a bit too informative, almost forgot what the welcome meeting was about when leaving.

We did take on board some of the information and went to Torremolinos to the Crocodile park and the Water Park - a definite must do!!

The pool area was excellent with enough sunbed for everyone, as we sometimes didn't make down until 12pm and were still able to find a spot.

I do agree that the Hotel is aimed at families, but that did not stop us having a good time....we even found ourselves dancing in the children's disco! The entertainment was excellent providing different shows and act every night to suit all tastes.

I have noticed that some of the reviews have complaints about the food, i found it to be rather nice. I also noticed people complaining about prices of drinks, have any of you bought a drink in Fuengirola town or back in the Uk??? I think you will realise that the drink prices in the hotel are quite reasonable!

The Airtours reps were some of the most friendly bunch of people i have ever come across as I found after going out a few nights with them.

All in all, the accommodation, the hotel staff, the food, the pool etc etc etc were excellent and not forgeting them reps (aka Lisa, Emma, Steve, Kym, Rosa) who made our holiday!!

Hopefully see you all in August! Stu

So there you have it "holiday makers" whats stopping you from going to castle beach, its brilliant.
