My/Our Holiday Review:

Gabri park hotel was very good - it was clean and spacious - we didn't spend much time in the hotel as we were always out but it was definately very good. I would say it was not really ideal for families and couples as it was very lively but if your single and there to meet fit good looking guys like us you'll totally love it - Totally love it. Lloret de mar is perfect for a lively holiday - loads of pubs and clubs - so much talent its unreal - honestly girls you'll love it

My/Our Holiday Review:

I thought i would give an updated review of this Hotel,we paid £85.00 for three nights HB for the three of us which i thought was exceptional value for money.

The Hotel is well placed around 500 metres from the sea front and resort centre the rooms were very clean and spacious and the food far better than we had hoped for, and it even had an indoor pool.

Lloret itself has managed to get itself a bad reputation with some people, but when we went it was great, most things were open but it was relatively peaceful,it is not the soulless place many people perceive it to be, and has a thriving Old Town that puts many other Spanish resorts to shame.

There are countless Bars and Restaurants even in March, one i can highly reccommend is called Soda (down small street opposite Flamingo hotel) very stylish and incredibly cheap 85p for large and high quality glass of wine, give it a try!

We went with easyjet, one of the bast flight's and transfere's we have ever had, flight time to Barca 2hr10mins, Barca to lloret 1hr 15 mins, in mini bus just 5 of us in it. HOTEL you get what you pay for, the rooms were cleen, towel's changed every day,and the maid's were pleasant. MEALS the restaurant was down 3 flite's of stair's from the reception a bit of a bind somtimes,I'M A PARKY EATER BUT THERE WAS ALWAYS SOMETHING THAT I COULD FIND EAT, bacon and egg's does me for breakfast.with buffy lunch and dinner and plenty to choose from. "BAR" the staff were unplesant and some times down right rude, you had to show your id card to get a drink, which is fare enough ,two drinks per card, but it your face fits you got your hole company's drinks (it never happend to us)5 drinks 3 cards.

We seen a couple of decent show's there, a modern flamenco and a Brazilian dance group, the other nights it was just disco music, we also went to the Medieval night,Well worth a visit. NOW THE DREDDED LIFT'S,what was happening, the people on the top floor's would ring for the lift, wait a few second then go down to the next floor and ring again and so on all the way down which ment the lift's were running emty most of the time, with a little bit of patiants you got to were you wanted to be eventualy.

Our room was on the second floor at the back overlooking the sports center,no sun shining in all day so the room was reasonly cool at night. My doughter had a bit of noise the last 2 nights just noisy girls (to mutch drink), other than that not a bad holiday. The travel arangments home were exelent to.Lloret to Barca 1hr 10 mins Barca to Newcastle 2hr. Would do it again.

Constant swearing, banging of doors, playing football in the corridors all times of night and morn, hotel reception security did not want to know.

And plenty of stairs to climb so bring hiking boots, lifts take forever to come, thats if they are working and not been vandalised. Rooms are in disrepair, beds need new mattresses,Have to pay for tv remote control.

Food is disgusting always cold, looks like whatever is left is put into next meal,no variety.

Not catered for children.

Entertainment vey poor.

However plenty of good eating places around, places to see, good beach, not SAND though more shingle.

Have Nice Holiday

My/Our Holiday Review:

Literally just back from this hotel. I am 21, and would say that unless you are on a stag/hen, or clubbing holiday, dont stay here.

My four year old neice was repeatedly woken up. We were put in between a group of 26 males on a stag week! not very well thought through. Also, put on the 4th floor with VERY unreliable lifts. Often the doors opened up to a brick wall!

Hotel staff did not smile once! a couple on reception were OK and helpful, but the rest were rude.

The Hotel is right in the middle of the nightlife so good location if that is what you want. Wouldnt advise going out on the main strip, but over the road from the hotel to The Queen Vic / Rockafellas / Texas Bar as v.good nights out for those of us who were 21.

About a 10 minute walk from the beach, which was sharp shingle! Better off staying round the pool, but then you get the stags behaving like 5 year olds bombing in the pool, shouting and swearing and diving in naked, all good fun, but not in front of 4 year old children!! The pool area was tiny, need to get up early to get a bed as there are not many at all! V. dirty sunbeds aswell, dont think they have ever been washed.

We had a group of 3 spanish people try to steal my mates handbag from under her sunbed round the pool. Security at the hotel is non-existant! You can never find the security guard.

Food, if you are picky like me, then you will live on cold chips and soup!

The rooms are very basic, cramped and stuffy!

Did not see any of the trouble makers get chucked out of the hotel, security never walked the floors, and basically you are left to it.

Conclusion - Don't go unless you are prepared for sleepless nights, even if coming in at 5am yourself, Don't go with children, and if you cant walk 7 flights of stairs, steer clear of this one.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We booked a weekend away to celebrate our friends 30th Birthday, after booking we read the reviews on the site & were a little aprehensive.

However upon arriving found that the hotel was fine, just needed updating, food was repetative but edible. The only thing was the 'many' stairs we had to walk up & down as the lifts were unreliable (broken on a few occasions!)

It suited us, we were there to catch the sun & relax during the day & get drunk & have a laugh at night. (pool was very cold, but due to time of year, it was clean though) weather was lovely & hot.

The hotel is ideal for big groups, (stag, hen & birthday parties) would not advise families or couples to go, it is very noisy at night! Most nights we went to bed after 5am.

Security were very aware of noise & late night parties in your rooms, however we still managed to party & have fun!

Would definatey go back for another girlie weekend away.

Location is perfect for nightlife. We stayed in the hotel bar & drank as much of the free alcohol as possible before hitting the town, went to Queen Vic which was cool, & then on to Rockafellas, we were there most nights, pole dancing !!!!! We met up with a group of Stags who were also staying at the hotel & had a great time.

If you have booked to stay at Casino Royal have fun !!!!!!!!!!! be prepared for very little sleep.

well where do i start,

sleep what sleep, every night you just knew that you would struggle to get a good nights sleep, shouting on balconys running up corridors. ect ect...

the food, some days it was fine but all my kids ate was chips all week because of the range of food.

having 2 children one who is nearly 2 and is still in a pushchair it was a struggle for us everytime we left the room because the lifts would never come to the 5th floor thats if they was working, so we had to then carry one down aswell as the push chair whilst helping my 5 years old down aswell (i would like to say i lost weight but i never)

the hotel in the end wasn't that bad i will just say you get what you pay for...

You get what you pay for. We booked the hotel online. We picked the wrong time to go as there is a giant football tournie for kids from all around Europe at Easter. The hotel was ok, food could be a bit warmer, but plenty of microwaves in restruant to heat it up. With so many kids there the noise was a nightmare, we complained but it didn't do any good. It seems to be a favourite spot for stag/hen parties so be warned, it's really noisy. we didn't let the noise ruin our break but if it's a quiet relaxing holiday your after, go to somewhere else! One thing to recommend, we booked the airport transfer with Shuttle Direct £100 for five of us from Girona airport. Would tell anyone to use them, excellent service.

After reading the reviews before going was quite worried about what we were going to get once we arrived, and now i know why.

The hotel itself was not too bad but if you are expecting any sleep then forget it, you will need another holiday when you get back just to get some rest. We went with people of all ages and all of us had problems with the noise there was shouting off balconies and throwing things over at people walking below. The hotel was full of non british who were very rude and ignorant to say the least and ruined our whole holiday as we dreaded going back to the hotel at the end of every night.

Food was not too bad and hotel itself was not too bad overall afterall you get what you pay for. But we will not be returning to this hotel or resort again in the near future. Also if you have young children then forget it as you end up carrying them up and down the stairs in their pushchairs as you can never get a lift and that is if they are even working at all.

Before leaving i read the reviews and thought what a bunch of moaners it couldnot possibly be that bad!!!

How wrong was I!!!1 Everything written hear about this hovel sorry hotel is the truth!!!

Lets start with the serious need for refurbishment this place is falling a part and filthy!!! I had to argue with the maid to get the sheets and towels changed as well as the floor mopped!!!

If you are a insomniac then you will do well at this hotel ´cos you will get no sleep the constant door banging and shouting and swearing at all hours from 8am (when the maid wants to clean your room!) to 5am when the bar shut!!

The food is absolutely disgusting you would not feed it to your dog!! The breakfast is cold and covered in grease and dinner is an absolute cattle market with everyone pushing in front of everyone else or ramming up your back with a plate like they had not seen a meal for a week!!!!

Oh and then there is the spitting and throwing things from the varanda!!

The only plus from this hotel was the free trip to the medieval night which we both loved

The resort it´s self however is lovely, try out the EL Rancho for a real good steak or for some good British food try the picadilly or the orient express!!

If your scottish visit the Rob Roy Saxon is a hoot!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

Where do i start? The hotel was terrible, it looked more like a dormitory than a hotel. The lifts are a major problem and we were really nervous of using them, the rooms weren't too bad, but found to be quite dirty and we found some filthy underwear in the bedside unit. The staff were not very polite and behaved as though they were doing you a favour by serving you.

The noise is terrible throughout the night, loaded with drunken yobs shouting across the balconies, playing football in the corridors, and constantly banging on the wrong doors. They even went as far as throwing their wet toilet rolls across the balconies at each other and it took a while for any management to attend.

This hotel claims to be a family hotel, well if you have children and elderly relatives it's a NO NO! I read some of these very reviews of the place before we went as it was my first trip to Spain and found them to be mixed, well do yourself a favour and give this one a miss. I reckon i'm a fairly laid back person coming from Africa, but this place was terrible, i will NEVER go back there again!

We were worried about staying at this Hotel from the reports we had read, we were going for a friends 40th Birthday so we did not want the Hotel from hell which is what we had read about. We decided we would go with a open mind but were all suprised.

We all had rooms of 4, the beds were comfortable, we inspected the sheets ect, all clean!! We had brought ear plugs to drown the noise?? as reported not that much noise, yes there were groups of teenagers but you would get them in any hotel in a resort like this. Food was fine, we were only there for 4 days and I expect it may become repetative but it was well presented and something for most people.

Bar staff were freindly, entertainment on every night. All outside areas clean and tidy. We had a fantastic time, good central location. We had 2 people who had cancelled the trip due to the reports and were disapointed when we arrived back. We got a good deal 145 for 3 nights all inclusive.

My/Our Holiday Review:

To start off we weren't quite sure what we were going to get for £235 all inclusive, but we thought what the hell... we'll have a great time whatever!

Firsty, I recomend not paying for transfers when you book it would have cost us an extra £60 each whereas the taxi transfer from the airport was easy to find and cost less than 10 euros each! Plus... on the day we got there the Vuelta (spanish tour de france) was running right through Lloret de mar and the road had been closed, our taxi driver took a detour through Blanes and charged no extra.

On arriving at the hotel we were all plesently suprised considering some of the awful reviews people had given it on the internet. The place was very well looked after, nice look to the whole place with chandeliers hanging everywhere. There were 8 of us seen to very promptly had our photos taken and issued our All Inclusive cards for the week.

After being shown the rooms, which are what you would expect for a 3 star hotel - simple but adequete we headed for the bar. There are all the normal shorts you would expect (local ones, but who can tell the difference, they all do the same thing) plus the local beer which was nice. Bar staff work hard but are a tiny bit moody

Now... the food, none of us actually made it to breakfast all week on account of gettin in at 6 every morning. But nevertheless you could get food all day long from really early until midnight, when the actual restaurant wasn't open the snacks bar was. The food, again, what you would expect for a 3 star hotel but at the same time enjoyable.

The local area is great if your like us, a bunch of 18 year olds, night clubs and pubs open til 5 in the morning, all with special deals and offers of free enrty and half price drinks etc. Plenty of British pubs but don't be a typical Brit and go to a foreign country and be ignorant, not bothering to try and speak the language and going to all British places... explore a little, barter with market stall owners, its all a good laugh. The beach isn't man made like some mentioned. A lot of beaches in the Med are shingle and the tide doesn't move in and out.

Basically to some it up:

Family/Boring Persons Holiday - NO

Lads/Girls/Stags/Hens Holiday - YES!!!

We have just returned from our holiday at this hotel.Although the resort isa nice placeto go i would never recommend the hotel its self.

Accomadation is appalling, and if u do like ur sleep i woudl not recommend coming here as you dont get any.The earliast time you will actually sleep is at 5.oo inthe morning.Yobs are everywhere,up thecorridors and on the balconies.Whilst we were there people were thrown out, told to sleep on the floor in reception and one guy smashed the balcony door.

If you go all inclusive then beware of the food.if you r fussy u will starve as you get the same meal most nites, they have no flavour,r swimming in fat.the only bonus is the never ending amount of drinks at the bar but then agen the bar staff begrudge givin u these as no1 hardly tips them.they r rude, unfrendly and cant do there job properly.Even though the resort wasa shambles i enjoyed myholiday as thebeach was nice and if i was u i would definitely try the orient express, they cudnt gtme out of there.nice food, staff n view.Llorett is a noisy place, specially in the summerbt if u r aged 18-30 i would suppose u wud enjoy it.people r pushy in the street tryin 2 gt u 2 go in2bars bt apart from this the actual town is luvly.

i would not go back to thehotel bt ifu go on the free shuttle bus i would definitely recommend the amaika hotel.

My/Our Holiday Review:

I must admit when I read the reviews I was worried but was pleasantly surprised when we got there,

The Hotel have done alot to stop any noise on the corridors by employing security guards who are very effective,we were lucky we were on the 6th floor overlooking the swimming pool as all the noise is coming from the very busy main road nearby but the hotel can do nothing about that, the rooms are very basic and in need of a revamp but for the price what do you expect, you only sleep in there ,the maid service was very good everyday cleaned and clean towels.

The food we thought was excellent if all you want is burgers, pizza, chicken nuggets forget it as one scottish girl of 19 said to me the foods c--- it's posh food (get a life luv)the soups and the bread were lovely and the menu varied and well presented the swipe card system worked well with no limit to the drinks or all day snacks. The resort it's self is a youngsters paradise 17 to 30 the town is buzzing until 5 or6am hence the noise. You can also use any of the Hotels in the H-Top chain so you can eat out or go for a drink to one of the others we used the Royal Star a few times a more modern hotel.

The pool area of casino which is also a casino is a bit small but there is a nice garden terrace to sunbathe if a little short of sunbeds, there are alot of French and Italian people in the resort not the friendliest of people,on the whole we had a very good week and we had 4 people of varying ages too.

Remember a holiday is what you make it and the lower floors of the hotel are the noisiest.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Firstly I would not book a holiday with Media travel we had nothing but trouble from them up until the day we left for our holiday.

After reading the reviews about this hotel on this site we really wanted to cancel our holiday it sounded terrible. But when we got there we were presently surprised. The hotel was very very clean, staff were friendly,no queues at the bar (we were all inclusive). Really dont know why there were so many complaints about the food. Perhaps it does get a little repetitive but what do you expect for a 3 star hotel!

The entertaintment was also very good. There was flamenco dancing, singers, kids discos - enough to keep you enteratined. The casino is right next door which is also good fun.The only downfall the hotel had was the lifts. Hardly ever working. We were on the 4th floor so we were pretty lucky.

Would definatley go back to the hotel again but didnt think much of the resort.

The resort was full of nightclubs/discos and full of foreigners. Rarely heard a british accent. Only 2 bars close by that was british. One was Rockerfellas a disco/bar but there were alot of foreigners there too. Another good bar is Queen Vic - very cheap, good for all family.

All in all in was a nice relaxing holiday 9 out of 10 for the hotel. Resort was very poor so we would only give it a 2 out of 10. If your all inclusive and spend most of your time in the hotel you will have a really good holiday. And its definatley value for money.

Been going abroad for thirty years and this has got to be the worst hotel we have stayed in yet!!!

If you dont mind not sleeping for a week then this is the place for you! The noise from 1.00 am onwards until 5.00 am is unbelievable. The rooms are not air conditioned so its too hot if you have the door shut but too noisy if you leave it open. Constant knocking on doors and people shouting in the corridors!

The food is adequate and what you expect from Spanish buffet meals! The all inclusive drink was the usual cheap crap and they didnt even have Pepsi Light!

The snack bar was a joke serving only burgers and hotdogs.

All in all, if you are on a stag party, hen party or are aged 18 - 25, then you will probably love this place.

We wouldnt even go back if they let us go for free!!!!

Holiday- 04/04/05-11/04/05

Do yourselfs a favour pay the extra for transfers! When we landed at Girona airport we had to make our own way to the resort by taxi.It cost us 43 euros and stirling moss would off been proud of the way this guy drove,70-80 mph easy!!He almost crashed when we got to the resort! The last bus leaves Girona at 2100 and only cost 8 euros!!

On arrival we were greeted by a mass of kids (15-18) blocking the hotel entrance! "EXCUSE ME" dont work but a sharp elbow does!! This is a reg thing at this hotel, one lot ships out and another ships in.There are 4 lifts in the hotel, which if you can get one is good, one that works and takes you where you want to go ha ha,I got stuck in one the day I left.

FOOD:

According to 3 ladies that told my wife the food 3 wks ago was cr*p.The breakfast is much the same each day,but its tasty and so is the lunch and dinner.Im a big fat bloke and enjoy my food and I must say I didnt have 1 bad meal!!Even the snack bar at night(2230-2400) served nice food,ok burgers and chips arn't every ones fav but the desserts and fresh fruit mmmm.

ROOM:

Very basic, even with all inc no tea making facilitys! Our room had clean sheets every day(leave sign on your door) and I just loved our hot shower.Don't bother with paying extra for the t.v remote, yes EXTRA, its all in spanish anyway,oh and by the way you have to pay EXTRA for the safe key(safe in room)too.

Now the real bad thing!! SLEEPING!!

Football on floor 2 at 0230,doors banging, all hours, shouting, screaming to all hours, if you have kids poor you!We was on floor 5 and when I complained the staff was going to move us to floor 6,I was told in broken english "3 star,no sleep,4 star sleep" one man almost got arrested as he demaned to see the manager,he was told he's comments had been noted and to go away or they would call the police!!!! An old couple had to be moved as the man was ill over it all,I saw him the next day and he was so at ease, they were such a nice couple! A man (mick from croydon) had he's camcorder stolen while he went up to get hes cornflakes.

RESORT:

It was nice,go to the back streets for the good bargains and barter! The Piccadilly bar on the front is the nicest welcome ever and the sunday lunch (6 euros)was a taste of home its great!!The glass bottom boat wasn't bad (9 euros) didn't like the man-made beach it looked like cat litter!

OVERALL:

The resort is nice, the hotel staff tried to help even putting security to kerb the noise, the bar area and shows some was good some not so good. The friends I made PRICELESS!! Chris your mad!!

I'd go back to Llorett de mar but not that hotel!!!!

the hotel itself was aload of cr*p being on the third floor as none of the lifts were working. the pool was nice but if only you could get a bed. there was no rep to tell you where to go on a night the entertament was all in spannish the bar was packed there was no where to sit we had to go sit outside which would have been nicer if there was a bar and some music which would cater for the people who did not have children.

the food was cr*p had to eat out at times. the resort was good but would have been better if you knew where you were goiog. the rooms were not up to much but on the up side they were cleaned everyday.the short walk up to fennels was nice and there was plenty of english places to eat that were cheap.

having got a cheap deal from the internet i would say we had good value for money(weekend cost £99.00 halfboard)..

transfer time from barcalona airport to resort took 1 hour and 20 minutes, the hotel is in an ideal location , about two minutes walk from the shops/bars and restaurants...the rooms were a good size and very clean with good size balconies.

the downside of the hotel is the food,it was totally disgusting, breakfast consisted of one choice of egg, sausage and beans..and dont even try the toast machine unless you are prepared to fight your way through the crowds!..dinner wasnt much better..we were glad of the burger king situated just across the road..

the beach is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel..the shopping isnt too bad either..200 ciggies(top brand) now cost 28 euros..cheaper brands cost 22..a litre of vodka costs 11.65 euros..eating out in resort isnt too expensive with two pizzas and two cokes costing around 15 euros.

overall i would say it was a great resort with good clean accomodation with friendly staff but anyone who is paying full price to go on a halfboard/all inclusive basis..think again!

My/Our Holiday Review:

My girlfriend and I have recently returned from a 10-night break at this hotel and we paid £290 each for an all-inclusive package there, with transfers to and from Bournemouth with Ryanair. On this subject, all I can say is familiarise yourself with your luggage allowances (particularly the interesting rule that allows only 15kg to be carried in a suitcase, but 10kg can be taken in hand luggage, with excess baggage charged at extortionate rates). Perfect for a holiday..not. That's low-cost airlines for you.

Anyway, with regards to the holiday itself, if we had paid any more than £290 each, we would have felt a little aggrieved, since the food at the hotel is not that great. Nothing there that will make you ill or anything, but it's very much the case that "you get what you pay for". I'm fairly open-minded when it comes to eating abroad, but the frequent traveller especially will understand what I mean by anaemic-looking sausages, chops that make ribs look meaty and blachmange-type desserts that look like they've been ready-digested! However, this is no reflection on the friendly staff in the restaurant who work really hard and are always chirpy. Shame their chef let's them down..

Many 'shorts' were local drinks, not the real McCoy. However, the beer on tap and in bottles is San Miguel, which was a nice surprise. Plus, you can get hot dogs / burgers and tubs of ice cream to snack on round the pool during the day if breakfast and lunch have provided insufficient nutrition. The pool itself appeared to be well-maintained on a daily basis and the time of year which we went (which included some great weather to boot) did not infringe on our ability to get a sun lounger. The hotel supposedly operates a 'no-reserve' policy for sunbeds which seemed to be well adhered to in general.

The hotel bar was nice enough, and made a pleasant setting (both inside and out) to have a few drinks. The entertainment of an evening was generally inoffensive, a Smith-and-Jones style 'Bontempi organist' a few nights, a good flamenco night, quizzes and karaoke, so you shouldn't get too bored. We tended to do our own thing a bit more, especially on the eating-out front. We can highly recommend a Chinese restaurant off the main strip which serves up an absolute pile of lovely food with a drink for a more than reasonable fee. Take the side road beside the Burger King nearer the bus station, walk up past The Sportsman bar (good for live sports), then left at the end, and it sits there on the left-hand side.

The rooms were cleaned daily and the maids worked really hard, so they're well worth their tip. Much like most of the resort, the rooms themselves were reminiscent of the 1970's, when the apartments were probably built, but they were comfy enough. I had e-mailed ahead, though, to secure a double-bedded room with a sea view, but arrived to be given a choice of either a double-bedded room or a room with a sea-view. This, for us, was indicative of the kind of service that most of those working on the front desk provided.

There were exceptions, of course, but many of the receptionists were usually in a side room for 15 minutes at a time discussing God knows what, with no bell on the front desk to grab their attention. Don't get me wrong, these people are talented linguists (there were a mixture of French, Germans, Italians, English, Belgians and Spanish staying there) but their customer service skills bordered on complacent and downright rude at times. One chap would not even call our travel agents to find out our pick up details until I convinced him that I had been promised this would be done for us by the hotel, him saying that we obliged to pay for the call ourselves.

As for the resort, we found it to be quite a nice place, particularly with the weather allowing us to explore. The beach is rough sand and there are a number of boats which embark from there to various points along the Costa Brava coastline. We opted for a yellow boat with an underwater viewing platform which went to Tossa de Mar, a lovely former fishing village going North along the coast. It has a fort there which is good to walk up and into the ancient village that sits up there. Nice food there at 'Tapa A Tapa' bar.

Back in Lloret, there is also a mock fort which makes a home for someone these days at one end of the promenade, and a swanky bar in the hills at the other end. In between you'll find all the booths for the boat trip, a tourist train trip up into the hills and a number of bars, one of which served me the largest beer I've ever had the pleasure to lay eyes on - and that was a medium! Backing onto this is a grid of tourist shops selling the usual cheap tat and a plethora of restaurants, bars and cafes. Somewhat out of place, there is actually a quaint little church slap-bang in the middle of it all.

We also ventured into Barcelona a couple of times. Once was to watch the football team play at the impressive Nou Camp (tickets + transfers around £40 per person), whilst the second was actually a day-trip. You catch a bus from Lloret bus station to Blanes station, where there is a train direct into Barcelona (Placa Catalunya). Takes about 2 hours all told and the transport is all well coordinated. Well worth a visit is the El Chiquito's tapas bar on Las Ramblas. Follow this all the way down to the picturesque port and have a drink at the boat moored over by the history museum if you get time.

Anyway, much of the above may sound negative, but we actually had a nice relaxing break there and would thoroughly recommend it for a perfect getaway for a bit of well-deserved rest and relaxation, especially at these prices.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Well, where do I start. We booked a girlie 3 day break to Lloret. We chose this hotel because it said it had annexe buildings and as my friend didnt like lifts we chose this one. When I read the reviews later I thought well it cant be that bad. It was. We flew from Blackpool - excellent with Ryan Air. Such a relaxed and easy journey highly recommended. None of the hustle and bustle of Manchester. Also it seemed to cut the journey time with all the hanging around down. (but maybe that because we left the kids at home!).On arrival at Gerona there was a problem with coaches and to cut a long story short it was 3 hours later we arrived at the hotel. (Still in high spirits and not bothered Yet!)

When we walked into the foyer we were suitably impressed. Smelt clean was tidy and reception staff very friendly. Until we got to our room. The smallest room you can imagine. Smelled of onions, 3 single beds squashed in a row with no space in between each, a balcony overlooking a burnt out car with doors that needed one finger to force open (we spent the next 2 days carrying our money and passports withus), a escape hatch in the bathroom ceiling which led to god knows where, also it was on the 5 th floor so as the reception was on -2 we had 7 floors to walk up. But worst of all the horror among horrors for us females - no socket for our hairdryer!

We decided to go grab some food so down to the restaurant we went only to find ourselves hustled and bustled in between a huge amount of teeenage spanish and german gangs! I thought we had arrived at a Youth Hostel. It was an ordeal to get any food (which was all German and totally inedible as it was cold) and then we sat sweating in the restaurant which was about 120 degrees (hotter than outside), god help any one in Summer.

We went back to reception and asked to move rooms to a lower floor. The receptionist looked on the computer and stated that the first 3 floors had been refurbished so we couldnt go on there as we had only booked a standard room. I did offer to pay more but it was ignored. She then found us a room on the second floor and assured us that the hairdryer socket was in working order. Wrong!! We were givin maybe the only room that wasnt refurbished! They dont cater here for english so if you have any electrical appliances you wont be able to use an adapter as they dont fit you have to have a continental plug attached to your appliance.

We just got changed and went to drown our sorrows! Excellent Night. Go in Moby's. Excellent music, happy hour till 2 and they dont throw you owt til 4. As we only arrived back at the hotel early hours we didnt use the bed so I couldnt say if the sheets were clean or not! Straight down for Breakfast. EVEN WORSE, cold red baked beans, congealed fatty bacon (if it was bacon im not sure) hotdog sausage and cereal. (Sorry forgot to mention the cold egg and potato omelette). Never again.

We hit the beach which was shingle and not recommended for kids as it drops sheer into the sea and the tide even swept me over. Dont sit on it!! You cant get it out your bikini bottoms!

We ate out the second night as we couldnt stand the thought of more disgusting food and needed something edible just to soak up the vodka. What can I say. EXCELLENT. Steak house just around the corner. Not real cheap at 12 euros for a steak but it must of weighed about 32 oz (we were in heaven). Lovely staff and a well cooked meal the first thing which actually hot to eat. Recommend to all if you like steak.

After saying all this we all had the best holiday of our lives and are not totally depressed wishing we were back. We never stopped laughing. The place was great, we met some great people and we just left our troubles behind. We will never go to this hotel agian but we are already looking to go LLoret same time next year but for 4 nights this time (thats if we can bribe some one to have the kids). Some lovely appartments called Blau right in the center look promising.

The hotel was supposed to be 300 yards from the beach and center - not true - its stuck up a hill about 15 minutes walk away. If you have booked this hotel I am not joking just cancell it. Especially if you have kids. They do not cater for any English tastes and the entertainment at night apparantly is in German and Spanish and you have to pay extra for it. I lost count of the number of times I said thank god we havnt brought our kids here! We are not fussy people we make the best out of any situation and are quite willing to accept that if you go to another country things are different. I have been going abroad now for 30 years and I can honestly say this is the worst hotel I have ever been to. Go to LLoret though! EXCELLENT! Roll on next May.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Me & my partner stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We decided to get the bus to Lloret de mar (this is only 8 euros per person & you have to buy these inside the airport) as a taxi would cost £40.00 english pounds one way. The bus stop is right outside the airport so was very easy to find & cheaper. Bus time was 45 mins to Lloret.

We arrived at the bus station at Lloret & there is a map which tells you where all the hotels are located (all the hotels in Lloret are all close to each other) The Guitart Central Park Resort & Spa Hotel is only a 10mins walk from the station & is very easy to find. But if you have a lot of luggage then you can get a taxi outside the bus station.

When we got to the hotel we noticed it was full of elderly french people & that the hotel was mainly aimed for these people, all the signs & leaflets were NOT in english.

Rooms > When we got to our room it was very old fashioned & none of the TV channels were in english (be warned that the rooms they show on there web sites are not the ones you will get!!! The hotel caters for B&B, HB & All inclusive. If you go all inclusive you get a modern room if you go HB (which we did) you get stuck in the old building (if you do stay at this hotel ask for a modern room).

I took my hairdryer with me but it would not fit in the plugs as they had light switched on either side so my partner had to hold it in place whilst i did my hair (may i also point out that there was only 1 socket in the room).

Beds were hard & very uncomptable, the room was cold, they did have heating in the room but it didn't do alot!

Good points are that the room was cleaned daily with fresh towels.

Restaurant > Breakfast was fruit, bacon, eggs, beans, mini sausages, cereals, crossaints & bread.

Dinner > This was the worst food we have ever had & ate out every night (luckily the food outside the hotel was cheap & tasty)

At the hotel You've got fish, beef, lamb, salads (chips some nights) & thats about it...

If you eat out we recommend the Curry place (2mins away) for 2 people inc drinks 20 euros. And the chinese which is next door to the curry place (they do a set menu with starters, mains & dessert for 8 euros each)

The heated pool is not in the hotel its outside & there are no changing rooms

The evening entertainment is not in english & all the music is foreign.

If you decide to go to this resort in the winter then be prepared that there is nothing to do. There are a few shops open & a couple of restaurants, im sure that if you go in the summer it would be great as there are lots & lots of bars, clubs, shops & restaurants (which will open in the summer).

We went to Barcelona for the day which was lovely. This will cost 12 euros each if you go by bus & will take 1 hour. Or you can get the bus to Blanes train station & get the train to Barcelona (we did this & the train goes passed to sea) & this takes 1 hour 30 mins.

Over all we would'nt go back to Lloret de mar as its very tacky & a ghost town out of season

March 2005- Bed and Breakfast

When we arrived it was eleven thirty at night we got our room and we were at the back of the corridoor, the room was standard and as we paid cheep we got what we paid for. It was basic but nice. The only problem was the maids, they never knocked on the door before they walked in and when we put the do not disturb sign on the handle they still walked in!!

The food wasnt very nice but because it was out of season they catered more for the locals and spanish. So after the first day we didnt eat the hotels breakfast again.

The people who worked in the resort were very nice we found a cafe called Tonys copper kettle, who did really nice food and had friendly service, the best place we did find was a Scottish bar called Bravehearts, the owner was really nice and the atmosphere was brilliant, kareoke every night.

The beaches in Lloret are beautiful the sea is really blue and it is really big!!

There are plenty of English pubs if you want to get away from all the locals especially out of season when there are hardly any English tourists about. We found a sports bar for all the football and rugby that is on whilest your away thats called the Sportsman. All the places i have named are less than a five minute walk from the hotel.

I would definately go to Lloret de Mar again but maybe not in that hotal as i dont think they cater for the English very well, all the signs were in Spanish and was very hard to figure out what they said.

In fact we are planning to go again in the summer, but to a different hotel!!!

Overall it was a fantastic holiday!!!!

The Hotel:

Booked a last minute 5 day a/inc break for myself and my wife, checked the hotel website first (www guitarthotels com) and it looked really great.

Arrived at Hotel at 5pm and given keys to the smallest, dirtiest, grubby room that you could imagine, bathroom ceiling was stained, plug sockets hanging off the wall, all the bad stuff you hear about.

Complained to the reception and they showed me a brand new refurbished room designed by Ikea, even down to the fake maple floor. Only an extra 50 euros.

Went into the restaurant for dinner, you hear stories of bad, cold food with very little choice, this is the place they originated, the food was disgusting, the variety was very limited, we are not fussy eaters, but ate out most of the time, just having the basic toast, rolls, cheese etc.

As we were a/inc the drinks were free but the waiters were very miserable, all with the exception of One young person.

The hotel grounds are very nice, 6 pools all quite empty, loads of sunbeds and chairs/tables, parasols etc.

All the bars are nicely decorated as you would expect of a large complex, there are 3 hotels and 1 apartment block and they seem to have re-furbished about 30% of all the buildings, so you either get a reasonable room or a real shabby room.

We never had our sheets/ bed linen/ towels changed during our 5 days and the cleaner did'nt clean.

The reception staff were very helpfull.

Our 4 night break was very cheap at £500.00 for two but I would never stay in this hotel again.

The Resort:

Lloret de mar was the very first resort on the costa brava to accept tourists, it has a lot of different faces to it.

You can drink, gamble, eat etc to your hearts content, the beaches are great, really good waterparks, large amount of shops at reasonable prices, good restaurants etc.

You really need to go out at 10pm to see lloret at its best, don't go if you dislike teenagers and discos, there are loads of them.

There are some quite restaurants as well and also all the fast food chains. A guide is www lloretguide com.

Barcelona is 2 hours away by train.

Take care as I was pickpocketed by a girl of no more than 12 yrs of age on the renfi train in barcelona.

Hope this review helps.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Having read the reviews on this site over and over again hoping that they would change We left Coatbridge expecting the worst, but decided to make the most of a bad choice. We arrived at 5 am and things looked really grim. The bus left us 5 adults and 4 children at the side of the H top Hotel with a lot of stairs to climb. Pleasantly surprised when the driver helped with the buggies and children.

After a very quick book in we went to our rooms. They were very basic and in need of a makeover. After a few hours sleep we wakened and thought stop moaning and just make the most of it. We went downstairs to collect our cards for all inclusive and what a difference daylight makes - the place did not look too bad. The staff on reception were very nice and helpful and had soo much time for the kids, from then on the holiday just got better. The Hotel rooms are awful but clean towels every day and linen if you want). Noise at night was pretty bad but after a long day we did sleep. The food was good and hot but very repetative but nothing to complain about. Would have liked snacks to be better as I felt it was just leftovers from the restaurant. Hot dogs, burgers pizza would probably have suited the kids (although not healthy) Fruit was in abundance as was ice cream and ice poles. Kids lived on the melon, apples and pineapples. The pool was great we spent every day at the kids pool and they had a great time (as the beach is awful lovely to look at but my God sore on the feet as it is like gravel) The entertainment was okay but kids club really did not exist. The Hotel staff are really nice and work very hard.

This turned out to be a great holiday maybe because we went with low expectations but honestly please do not listen to the reviews it is not as bad as they make out. I have been all over Spain Bulgaria, Turkey, France, Holland, Belgium and lots of other places and believe me it has not been the worst except for the ignorant, arrogant German people who seem to think that they have every right to be that way.

Please go with an open mind and enjoy your holiday remember its not a home from home just a place to rest your weary head at the end of a great day.

p.s. lifts were really good also any complaints about noise security were there immediately

My/Our Holiday Review:

I have read all the reviews, on this, and other sites, before we left, and after we got back.

I have to disagree with the majority. There was nothing wrong with this hotel. It was clean, spacious, and the rooms were lovely.

The lifts, yes, were terrible. We were on the 6th floor, and had to wait a while before they would come.

We were overlooking the football pitch, and although it was being used every evening, it didn't cause us any problems with noise.

We met some lovely (and not so lovely couples) When two 'friends' had a fight and broke their window, security were straight up there sorting it out, and even banged on your door at night if they thought the music coming from rooms was too loud!

The food was ok. Some of it was not to my liking, it was more catered for continental tastes, but the pasta and spaghetti sauce, roast potatoes, and beef were lovely.

Bar staff wouldn't know what a smile was if it hit them in the face, but you could use more than one all inclusive card and get 2 drinks on each.

The smokers area is situated at the back of the bar (which is huge) which meant that you didn't really get to watch the entertainment, which to be honest wasn't up to much.

The resort was lovely. The Queen Vic, and The Texas Bar were great places to go after drinking the all inclusive bar dry, and about a 5 min walk from the hotel. JUST BE CAREFUL OF THE CENTRAL ROUNDABOUT WHICH WAS A BIT OF A PAIN.

The pool was FREEZING cold. I found it to be colder when the sun was out all day, funnily enough!

All in all we had a great holiday. I only got woken up once by a german woman outside my door "woofing", but as for yobs and outside noise we didn't hear any of it.. Maybe we were lucky getting the top room in the hotel, who knows.

It cost us £183 all inclusive, which included transfers & flights etc. We had no problems whatsoever.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Just got back on Monday (03/07/06) and had been there for 2 weeks. After reading some reviews on this site we were slightly scared. It was absolutley amazing, the night life is out of this world. The best places are The Queen Vic, Texas and Rockofella's.

The accommodation is really good too the staff are really friendly, there is food for everyone and the rooms are basic but very clean.

This is def a young peoples hotel as it can be a bit noisey at night time outside as it is right across the road from all the clubs.

We meet loads of friends inclunding stag do's and bithday partys who we still keep in touch with now and for the girls there are some goodlooking guys too.

The only thing was we found it difficult to change our travellers cheque's the ex-change places are hidden down back streets.

So to top it all off it was a really really good hotel where we meet some people we will never forget and the night clubs were some of the best we've ever been to. We are in the process of booking another holiday here in October. (Thanks to Your Holidays)

Lifts: My son jumped down to the bar to fetch some drinks for him and some people he met on holiday. He came back up in tears and said to me " DAD! The lift opened whilst i was going up!). The lift had opened to a brick wall as he was going up and it didnt close again. He went past LIVE wires , Brick walls and eventually when he got to the top the lift shuddered and fell back down to a large gap between the lift and the floor. He had to step up out of the lift with another holiday maker helping him as the gap was to wide! This is an 12 year old i'm talking about!!!.

STAFF: Very very unhelpful started talking about us in reception, staring at us and pointing as they were talking in spanish.

Rooms : Too cramped, sheets changed once in 2 weeks. Too noisy and we actually had to get the police out because the room next to us were hitting and fighting with the woman!

Resort: The resort outside was aaaamazzzing!!! great things to do for kids! great eateries and great pubs. My kids actually asked me if we could go down to the Queen vic because it was so much fun.

You would think that the name of this hotel " Gran Casino Royal" is some posh high standerd hotel, Well it's not.

Would not recommend.

The hotel was of a good standard. Rooms and hotel were clean. Rooms cleaned daily and towels refreshed every day. The food was the same every day for tea. Breakfast changed slightly. If your looking to go out into town, it is about a 20 minute walk away to the main stretch. Hotel is 10 minutes from the beach up a big hill. The swimming pool is not as it seems in the picture. Very small and there are about 10 sunbeds.

Whilst there took a day out to Water World which is well good. Also went to Barcelona for a day. Is a must do if never been before. Takes about an hour to get there.

ACCOMODATION - We went to Lloret de Mar in June for 2 weeks. on the way we got delayed for 3 hours which ment we did nit arrive in the hotel till around 6am. the reception staff came across rather grumpy to us. on our first night we expereinced ants in our room, the reception werent to fussed to do anything about that.the problem finally got sorted. we were half board , the food was ok but was always the same food everynight. To warn uz the maid comes very early and even if u out the do not disturd sign up she still comes in to service ur room. we never used the bar in the hotel and the pool was extremely small.

RESORT - the resort itself is very nice only thing is the beach does not have sand its stones. there is alot of shops pubs clubs and resteraunts around the main centre. we took a trip to barcelona one day ...a word of advice if ur doing the barcelona excursion dont book it through thomas cook. go to the bus station where u get a free bus to barcelona n visit the stadium ursel its hell ov a lot less expensive.

NIGHTLIFE - at night we usually set out about 11 and went to a wee scottish pub called Rob roys( the staff in there are lovely- well worth a visit) then aroun 2 we would go around to rockefellas which was my favourit club as it was all the music i love. and it also done requests and was full of british people. another good place is texa which is just across the road. Robin Hood is also worth a visit. On a monday night there is a foam party in Tropics.... this was amazin uz defo have to go to that. Do not go to BUmpers. Zoo is also a great place to go.

Over all i would defo visit Lloret de mar again but would stay in a different hotel... i woul not recommened older people or those with disibilites to stay in hotel hawai as it is located on a hill. but Lloret de mar itself is good for all parties but especially young folk for the nightlife.

Just a word of advice - this hotel is used by school groups. I should know a took one there in June. So if you don't fancy spending your holiday with loads of teenagers, this is not the place for you. Apart from that, the hotel is OK and the staff are really helpful. It is also located up a steep hill and there are quite a lot of steps in the hotel so maybe not suitable for the less mobile.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The second time in the Costa Brava for us, but the first time ever on a holiday without our children. We booked on a half board basis.

Transfer from Girona Airport took about 75 minutes, including stops at a couple of other hotels and went smoothly.

HOTEL :

The Hawaii is set about 150 yards from the beach front [up a steep hill] or about 500 yards from the main shopping area.

Checking in was no problem, the staff on reception speaking understandable English.

Our room was on the 3rd [of 7] floors and was reached by the very small lifts. So small that it was impossible to fit both of us and our cases inside.

Our room had obviously been cleaned well and was bright and airy. Bathroom contained a bidet with no working hot water and a sink with no drain plug. The twin single beds were comfortable. Sliding doors led to a small balcony which contained 2 plastic chairs and a small table.

Moving about the room is difficult. Not because of its size, but because of its layout. A dressing table with mirror is sited at the foot of the bed meaning, if someone was using the mirror the room was effectively cut in half and the only way past was to climb over the beds. There is a T.V. in the room with several channels but only BBC News in English. A safe is available costing about 12 Euros per week.

The room was cleaned well with fresh towels left every day.

FOOD :

Dining at this restaurant is an experience. In a buffet style it seems to be set out much like a scene from "It's A Knockout". Nothing is where you'd expect it to be. Hot food, cold food, salads, plates, cups and crockery seem to be strewn about with no forward planning or design. Much fun can be had from watching people trying to figure out where everything is. The hotel is very definately multi-national [with the British in the minority] and it may take quite a bit of searching for the average Brit to find food to their taste. We managed O.K. and always found something to eat. The food is fresh and is replenished right up to the time the restaurant closes [dining is 6.30 to 9pm].

ENTERTAINMENT :

I was slightly disappointed in the size of the pool [clever photography for the brochure] but at least it was kept clean. Sunloungers are around it with a charge of 1 Euro a day for the cushion to place on it. The usual towel-booking of loungers took place but at 10am we were able to find a space by the pool.

A D.J. played in the bar area most nights with piano music the others.

There is a Disco in the basement of the hotel which opened after 10 pm and stayed open until about 3 am.

SURROUNDINGS :

Up the hill from the hotel were a couple of Spanish tavernas where they show football on T.V. or play music from the local radio. Snacks such as Paella or Pizza, both 6 Euros and quite tasty can be bought here.

There is a stop outside the hotel where the L2 bus can be caught. It goes in a large circle to the town and beach of Finales, the centre of Lloret, before returning to the hotel, [no chance of getting lost]. It runs every 30 minutes and costs 90 cents, no matter how long your journey is.

Downhill took us to the beach which is coarse sand or shingle. Sunbeds can also be hired here. Several boat - taxis leave from the beack going to other towns. We visited Tossa De Mar [14 Euros return by boat] which is well worth a visit.

Shoppers will love Lloret where there are hundreds of places selling designer goods [real and fake], alcohol and cigatettes, at what seemed like very reasonable prices.

There are several British type pub restaurants in the town. We visited "Piccadily" [happy hour 6.30 to 1 am] and The Irish Rover where the large screen T.V. showed European football.

Being "older", we couldn't comment on the nightlife for youngsters but we did see a few large discos in the town.

Recommended ? :

I've been in worse places than the Hotel Hawaii and met one or two folks who WERE staying in worse whilst we were there.

I wouldn't put anyone off the hotel. It's fine. BUT.......if what you're looking for in a holiday abroad is a hotel full of fellow Brits and traditional British food on the menu, then this is not the place for you.

We enjoyed it but will not be going back to Lloret [or indeed Costa Brava] again.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We were pleasantly surprised by the standard of the hotel in this busy period. The rooms were very clean, the showers efficient as was the air conditioning, the food was very good (we had half-board)and catered for most nationalities (including a Catalan Night one evening with local traditional foods) and the staff in the dining room and bar were very helpful and friendly.

The pool in the hotel is quite small but we were on the beach every day anyway and had a swim in the pool after the journey back from the beach. The beach at the resort is fairly narrow at the hotel end and very busy and we preferred the Fenals beach only a short bus ride away at 90 cents each.

All in all we thought our holiday good value for money and would happily go back to this hotel again. The Sunset staff were efficient and reliable - just what the doctor ordered.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Myself and a friend have just returned from a "2 week" holiday to Lloret de Mar in the Costa Brava. I put 2 week in the inverted commas as the holiday was so poor that we returned 6 days into our trip. Before departing I read reviews about the resort and many people raved about how good it was, this was certainly not the case.

To begin the hotel was very difficult to navigate with the reception 2 floors below the entrance. When we finally got to our room - an hour after arriving as it was not ready, we found that it was more like a cupboard. The bed covers were dirty and as for the view it was like looking out onto a bomb site - not pleasant. We were the only two brits in the hotel and the only two under the age of thirty.

The hotel staff were the most unfriendly staff imaginable and they did not seem interested in our complaints. They just shrugged and said contact the tour operator. At meal times we were expected to share our table with two complete strangers which we found very odd. The hotel was full of flies and there was no air conditioning. As animals are allowed in the hotel we found ourselves in the unfortunate position of living next door to a very vocal dog.

The resort itself was quiet and not the lively, exciting place it was cracked up to be.

As for the beach it was more like cat litter than sand so if you are after a beach holiday i don't reccommend it.

I'm afraid I don't have anything positive to say about this hotel or the resort as the 6 days that we were there was just living hell. I would not recommend either to anyone - even my worst enemy.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Only paid 150.00 for our holiday each so we were not expecting much for that kind of money, we were not interested in joining club 18 - 30 excursions as we were only there to get to Seville for the Glasgow Celtic V Porto Uefa Cup Final game.

When we arrived at the apartments at 11.00 am the room was not ready and we had to leave our luggage in a cupboard unattended. We also had to leave our passports with reception for the whole week as if there was any damages they do not return your passport until you have paid for them. We got our room at 4pm and when we saw it we called the manager straight away as it was disgusting. the floor was black with dirt and the sofa was soaking wet, there was 4 carrier bags of the previous occupants rubbish lying in the living room and the bath was black with dirt and stained, the receptionist sent a rep who asked us what we were expecting for a club 18 - 30 holiday - BASIC HYGENE

Our second room wasnt any better but they said it was that or go home. The seconnd day there we left our room for 30 minutes and went to the roof where the so called swimming pool was while everyone else went on an excursion to Barcelona and that was the first time we left valuables lying around and when we came back our mobile phones and money were stolen from the room but there was no forced entry someone used a key, the two master keys were kept by the receptionist therefore we had to travel to the police station rather than call them and watsed 5 hours of our day in a waiting room.

The next day we packed our bags and left and went and slept in a park in Seville which was more Hygenic and Friendly that the Jorsant Apartments.

DO NOT GO HERE

STAFF HAD BAD ATTITUDES AND DID NOT CARE THAT THE DAYS WE WERE THERE 12 ROOMS HAD BEEN BROKEN INTO AND THE WEEK BEFORE THE KEYS TO OUR APPARTMENT WENT MISSING.

ROOMS ARE DIRTY AND EXTREMELY UNHYGENIC.

Lets Break This Down:-

We booked this last minute deal with Fleetway...they are (in our opinion) not the most efficient of companies. We had to chase them for our tickets several times within a couple of days of us travelling. They also told us that transfers were included, but told us nothing about them...

We flew with Ryanair and have no complaints, good flights, courteous staff and cheap...everything it said on the box!

We arrived at the airport in gerona at around 11pm, collected our bags and then had to ask about the coach drivers to find out where our transfer was as there was nobody there to greet us as had been mentioned by Fleetway.

The hotel La Palmera is clean, fairly modern, friendly staff and everything we expected for a 3* last minute deal. The food was edible and the fluids drinkable. Breakfast was the same everyday, though dinner of an evening was varied, though not extensive. For what we had paid we were satisfied...believe me we enjoy our nice holidays where we expect the best, however ths was simply a last minute cheapo break and we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is near the beach, near the shops and just far enough away from the nightlife to enable you a pleasant nights sleep.

The transfers home were again a bone of contention as we had no details of them, fortunatley the hotel were helpful and made the relevant calls for us. We were collected an hour late ude to traffic problems, hey ho these things happen.

A short Ryanair flight home and here we are writing this...

Our next journey is 5* in Egypt and we will of course be judging that on its own merits...

What a disappointment the marsol hotel was i booked it because it stated 4 star how they have that very wrong more like 2 star. It was dismal and in need of an upgrade, the rooms are small with no views ours looked on to a brick wall, there are only around 8 rooms in all that have balconies. I would like to say something positive about the marsol but i cant, the staff were'nt any better, the barman/waiter was a horrible rude little man, he didnt have time for people unless of course you were spanish he served their tables, us brits had to go to the bar!! they do however charge 4 star prices.

On to the food, I thought things can only get better wait for it!! breakfast was edible, the evening meal left a lot to be desired one word for it attrocious!! we ate out in fear for our health. We had booked in for 3 nights but left after 2 im afraid we had had enough. We took a train to Barcelona, where we stayed at a real 4 star. Lloret as a place was not my cup of tea think they need to knock it down and start again. I love spain but this is area i would'nt recommend to anyone.

It was very quiet when we went, the song ghost town springs to mind. The hotel was nice and clean, food was limited, again more than likely because of the time of year, but nice. We flew with Ryanair and on thair website it states there is a bus to Lloret, this stopped before we got there so we got a taxi which costs anything from 40-50 euros. There is a bus station in Lloret and the buses to Gerona airport are only 8 euros, big difference.

All in all this was the wrong time of year to go here, it might be better in high season or for someone looking for a quiet break.

5 days into the holiday we had some bad news from back at home a relative only had so many days to live so all 16 of us booked an emergency flight home for the next day when we went to collect our passports that night as we had to hand in on arrival we was one short the persons who it was was under the age of 18. the hotel staff just kept puttin the blame on us sayin we had lost it even thou on there books it showed them that it had bin handed in. they told us we would need police checks to get back on the plain and the hotel wasnt even willin to pay for a taxi to get to the station. we got the checks any how. as we went to the airport they completly refused the police checks an said no way can she fly without a pass port so in the end three people had to stay behind to stay with the under aged person wot was bad as we all needed to get back home asap. well thyey did manage to get back 2 days later an luckly got to say there goodbyes. bit the other day we had a phone call an a wonen in wales had been given our missing passport we live in birmingham i think its just unbelievable just shows what an unorganised hotel it was .

just arrived back yesterday after one week in the hotel montevista,it was like holidays from hell, firstly there where hords of unsupervised teenagers ranging from around 13to16 years old screaming, yelling, banging doors lying around the lift areas.you had to climb over them all just to reach the lift things where getting that rowdy on the fifth floor which we where on they where locking them into there rooms as security was getting fed up with complaints about the noise levels, this carried on for 5 days solid and then of course came the ravers music thuding from one day through to 5 the next morning so sleep was impossible.

if you are british stay away from this hotel as you will be alone here, also foods its edible i suppose i was full board and ate 4 meals the entire week, managment cant control the residents.dont use fleetway either as they were to move us im back home now and still waiting for them to phone me back.

on a good note the weather was great it would need to be as the hotel is abissmal,be warned.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We arrived in Gerona airport after being 5hrs delayed in Newcastle to be faced with a 1hour and 1/2 transfer which should have only taken 40mins according to the holiday mag. When we arrived at the hotel we were quickly checked in and made our way to our room. We requested a sunny balcony with a view of the sea!! Well we could see a bit through the hotels infront of ours. As soon as we entered our rooms we noticed that it had been very well cleaned (as it was every day) but perhaps on the small side. The bathroom had all we needed and the balcony had a table and two plastic chairs.

As we were staying Half Board we had breakfast and evening meal (which can be swapped to lunch if you want to eat out on an evening). The breakfast was average and there wasn't a lot of choice. The evening meal always had the option of salad but the hot food did not vary much. We usually had Pasta or chips as the meat was cooked european pink unlike British burnt!!

The Staff in the Resturant and the bar were always very pleasant and quite helpful. However the staff on reception left a lot to be desired. A smile seemed sometimes impossible to them.

At night we became very aware that you could hear everything that was going on in the room next to you. Even though they were not being noisy. However 2 days into our holiday our quiet neighbours were replaced by 2 german men who shouted laughed and banged doors well into the early hours of the morning. I don't believe I ever had one full nights sleep there. /the other British guest that we spoke too found that with their neighbours too.

We spent a lot of the days at the side of the pool. There are aprox. 40 sun loungers which is not a lot considering the size of the hotel or that the guests from the sister hotel Hawaii came to use our pool too.

In the mag it said there was a pool side bar which there was, but the lad serving behind it would lock up and disappear for hours on end. There are steps up to the pool area which certainly are not accessable if you're not very mobile.

Lloret is a tourist town and has loads of little shops that sell the usual buckets and spades etc. If you walk along the beach there are some outdoor resturants which serve lovely food. Walking through the back streets is like being in a maze and you can find some lovely places to eat, drink or shop.

We were disappointed with our holiday (as it was our first away together). We may go back to Lloret but I will definately not be satying in the Montevista.

booked this as a last minute getaway for 6 days without kids so wasn't expecting anything fabulous, we were looking for somewhere to eat, sleep, drink and lie at the pool all day as we went all inclusive.

arrived in barcelona and then had a 2 and a half hr transfer which we half expected.

the hotel looked lovely as first impressions went but soon turned into a youth hostel by day and night for the foreign 16-21's.on occassions a group of approx 60 got evicted for there carry on but as soon as they left approx 70 took there place and this went on,a small minority of guests were older more responsible that knew how to treat people with respect and keep noise down in the early hours of the morning.

the pool had a notice beside it stating no more than 40 people to occupy it but the hotel had over 200 rooms and only 1 pool and a grand total of approx 20 sunbeds and no other area you could even sit at the pool, there was a small area at the front of the hotel with tables and chairs.

the food was well cooked and limited choice and very similar each day.

the staff were reasonably friendly but one bar man when you asked for a specific drink thats all you got the whole holiday even if you asked for something different.

the staff were very helpful until 10 minutes before we departed to go home when my bag was snatched at there pool and the staff turned out to be very unhelpful and even refused to phone the police to begin with but eventually they did and then told us the police wouldn;t come to the hotel but we had to go to them but wouldn;t tell us where to go.

don't expect globespan to nofify you on your return transfer as we had to chase them for a day and a half to find out how we were getting to the airport as theres no rep or notice board in the hotel but turned out to be very helpful when my bag was stolen as they took us to the airport police and told them what happened in spanish and even managed to get us onto a flight home minus our passports as they had been stolen and even explained everything to airport staff and kept us right about immigration in britain for our return then gave us complimentary drinks on the flight home as all our money had been stolen.

wouldn't stay in this hotel again, would use globespan again but they need to brush up on a few things.there sister hotel the hawaii is alot better for food, and there staff was much more helpful before and after the theft.

APPARENTLY BAG SNATCHING HAPPENS EVERY DAY HERE SO BE WARNED.

just got back from a weeks holiday to oasis park hotel in fenals, we had super time the resort is lovely but with still plenty to do and a great beach. the hotel was spotlessly clean with nice pool area and good food.only downside was entertainment its typical of spain with parrot shows flamenco dancers and ususal kids dances that tend to be same everynight. we had day trip to marineland this was excellent value as it also includes waterpark which is attached a really good day out and the dolphins are amazing. took a boat trip to blanes wasnt impressed as this resort caters more for the spanish. eating out well we were half board but ate our lunch in fenals at a little bar called Paulas its owned by british and the food is excellent.

many thanks to hotel staff and tour operator as we couldnt find any faults only that the sand is shingle hurting your feet when waliked on,the shops are rubbish and they pester you to buy so beware as it got on our nerves but apart from that one week wasnt long enough and we hope to go back in the near future.

My family have been to this Hotel in 2004 as well as this year.

Maybe I was looking through rose tinted glasses when I thought Lloret was a nice resort.Having been twice in 3 years I have to say Lloret is dated. The Hotels in Lloret are in need of renovation.

The English pubs are minty and and rip you off compared to Spanish bodegas and restaurants.

We went on a boat trip and looking back at the beach and it's surrounding Hotels it looked dishevelled.

The shops sell the same gear ie fake football shirts, cheap ornaments and fake perfume to name 3.

The hotel is clean but the beds and pillows along with the carpets have seen better days.

The food is decent with a variety of fish and fish. You can't go wrong if you like fish especially if you like to eat fish with their heads, tails and and skin still intact.

The food is quite nice really with plenty of choice,it's just fish is served every night.

I won't be going back to Lloret again until the resort refurbishes and changes it's tacky image.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Recently returned from a great holiday in lloret, went with a group of friends all looking for a laugh and a good time and thats exactly what we got. Lloret centre is loud and lively, crammed with bars, clubs and party seekers, mainly German and Italian it must be said, but all looking for a good time too so not causing any harm.

Best bar is probably the queen vic and texas, both can be found in the main square which is primarily english. Travel down the main street and you will be dragged into bar after bar by reps offering a free shot or 2 for 1 drinks- all good but one drink is near enough the price of 2 in england anyway!!! The main street is primarily German and runs straight to the beach front where you can find more little bars and restaurants- piccadilys is a good one down there, although a little small the music and atmosphere is excellent. We did feel very old though being on our 20s, as most of the partygoers seem to be very young- 16 to 18. You can pay the reps 5 euros when you get there to go on a bar crawl, and it is well worth it-there was 140 people on it the day we went-it runs every sunday and great to meet new people, have a laugh and learn where some of the good bars are located!

Oasis Park hotel is located about a 10 minute walk away from Lloret centre, perfect for a drunken stroll back at the end of the night to sober up. Fenals is small but very nice, the beach is excellent and never crammed like Lloret, and has small bars and restauarants around. On the walk to Lloret from fenals you will see the Hungry Horse pub on the main road-we ate there near enough every day, the food is great-the same as the hungry horse pubs back here in the UK. The hotel itself has the potential to be excellent, it is in a nice quiet location and looks brilliant form the outside and in. The rooms are good, clean and tidy and the air con works a treat-keeps your room super cool (we needed it as the sun was blaring everyday-don't forget your sun cream)! But there is a problem......the walls are super thin and you can hear your next door neighbours alday everyday. The first day, after getting in at about 3 the night before from the airport and feeling very jet lagged, was woken up by the loudest cleaners in the world at 7-they were simply cleaning the room next door but decided it would be nice to shout to each other as loud as they could for the next hour or so. The rest of the week we were worken up early every morning by the over eager Germans next door, rushing to get ready for breakfast and to get there place by the pool- was annoying when you are hungover!!! The hotel is primarily German- didn't see any more english in there apart from us, and the food was mainly for them- frankfurters, bratwurst etc..... always had bread and chips though so if the meat wasn't to our taste we would make ouselves a chip butty!!! EXCELLENT!!! The food was overall OK but chose to eat at the hungry horse most of the days because wasn't really for us.

For one of the days, a few of us decided to travel to Barcelona. I had been there before but you can never go to Barca too many times, really is an amazing city with lots to see and do-could easily spend the whole week there! We knew from reading earlier reviews that we would need to catch the bus to Blanes and then the train-but we thought we would ask the rep for better details on how to get there....she was not helpful at all-tryin to get rid of us as quick as possible so she could get back to lazing about doing nothing-she simply said "catch the bus and train bye".....THANKS! We managed to figure it out for ourselves though-you catch bus 6 (not bus 1 that says Blanes as it doesn't go near the train station) from the main road just up from the hotel, and this takes you direct to the station for 1.20 EUR. The train takes about an hour but is good as it follows the coast all the way there so you go through town after town and checking out the people and beaches! Make sure you get off at Catalunya if you want the main centre-La Ramblas and stuff-as we made the silly mistake the first time we went of getting off too earlier and had to walk for miles-not this time though....we learnt our lesson! Barca was ace as usual...but very hot and tiring!

Overall a brilliant brillaint holiday and would definately return there at the drop of a hat, loved the place....just not the hotel!

My/Our Holiday Review:

Went to Lloret for a big family holiday, and it was great. Lloret has plenty too do and lots to see, the beaches are great with loads of cheap loungers and parasols; the sand is granular rather than fine sand (which is good because it doesn't stick to your feet so much) Lots of good bars and restaurants, although there are lots of touts trying to get you in to their nightclubs. Easy access into Barcelona and you must take in a match at the Nou Camp (Barca) or the olimpic Stadium (Espanyol). The centre of Barcelona is great, and it is a wonderful city. The combined fare for bus to Blanes, train to Barcelona is only 7euros per person if 5 or more are travelling.

The Oasis Park Hotel is spotlessly clean, the rooms have tv and air conditioning, and the towels were changed daily and the sheets twicw per week. The decor is a bit dated but everything works and the whole place is maintained meticulously. The food is plentiful and good with a wide range of good quality of fish, veal, and pork dishes always available. The Entertainment was always a good laugh, and Isaac (and his twin) were always keen to get people to take part, but they weren't pushy. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the Fenals beach, and 10 minutes walk from Lloret centre.

Overall I can thoroughly recommend this hotel and resort as it represents very good value for money

My/Our Holiday Review:

The hotel Oasis Park is in a quieter part of the resort with no pubs or clubs in the near vicinity, although the nightlife was only 5-10 mins walk away. The hotel was clean and rooms adequate, and hadair conditioning and a tv. Staying on a half board basis, there was a good choice of food available, with a fish and meat option most nights. At times food was perhaps geared more to european tastes, but there was always a wide choice of salads and cold meats (as well as chips). Puddings were fantastic, with an excellent choice of cakes and selection of fruit daily for early diners!!

There are 2 swimming pools, one large, busier one and a smaller one that was a bit quieter. There were plenty of su loungers to go around, although some people tended to reserve these all day before arriving around 4pm!

The resort itself was as expected, and it could be a bit of a battle to get from A to B avoiding the "meeter greeters" outside the bars.

Barcelona is also easily accessible by bus to nearby Blanes and then train to Catalonia Square in the centre. There were also trips to Barcelona, including the Nou Camp, Las Ramblas and the Sagrada Familia offered by the tour operator, as well as a number of otehr trips. These were reasonably good value for money as well as really interesting and very enjoyable.

There were a lot of bars in the nearby resort centre, all with "amazing" deals on jug of sangria, beer etc when bought in bulk. We found that going for normal drinks (eg vodka & mixer, alcopops) worked out to be more expensive. The best bar we were in was called "Sportsman Bar" and this was because the staff were friendly and let us choose all the music! "The Queen Vic" was really geared towards the British with big screens showing soaps and other tv from the UK, as well as playing cheesy pop and karaoke type entertainment.

The only downside to our holiday was the early checkout from the hotel room on the final day, as facilities for showering and changing on the final day were really poor. To get the use of a towel at this time the hotel wanted 10e per person!!! (Beach towels can be purchased nearby from 5e!)

Also the staff on the reception at the Oasis Park were less than helpful, as they usually advised to come back later or just didnt know the answer to any questions.

In all we had a fantastic holiday and would definitely recommend the resort and the hotel (even better if they have addressed the issues with check out mentioned above!)

My/Our Holiday Review:

The Hotel was clean and although we were self catering the rooms were cleaned every day, with clean towels on a daily basis. This Hotel had entertainment advertised every night but we never actually saw anything on. Maybe we just missed it, but I am sure we couldn't have missed everything. The centre of Lloret was only a 10 minute walk, but if you don't like hoards of 16-28ish kids drunk and loud, I suggest you try somewhere else. We were on a last minute holiday and found that most of the pubs and clubs were geared toward the younger holiday makers. My friend and I had an okay week but would not go back to this resort.

The pubs around the Hotel were really quiet and although we had a good look round found it difficult to find many pubs that had a mixed age range.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Very clean hotel in nice quiet area. Food OK but dining room not very well run (bit short staffed). Good pools. Good animation staff, particularly Isaac, who organises shooting, pool competitions etc. Mainly Spanish, Italian, Dutch visitors but there were still plenty of British children for my daughter to play with. Costa Brava much prettier than I expected. Lloret (10 mins away) big and busy - lots of crowds of young people pub crawling but not causing any problems at all (probably because they're not British!)

Would recommend this hotel and Fenals area of the resort.
