My/Our Holiday Review:

We have just come back from a lovely 10 day break at the Hotel Cabana which we found to be a very clean hotel.

It is situated within walking distance from the beach and in the old town part of Benidorm with quite a few residential villas surrounding it. We had a sea view from our room on the 11th floor but lower floors/pool facing rooms may miss out on this. Our party consisted of two adults and 4 children (so we had to book two rooms...worked out cheapest to book as 4 adults and 2 kids) one of ours is a wheelchair user but we had no problems with access in or around the hotel. We had a hire car for our stay which we couldn't have done without.

I would say that people with mobility problems may not be able to stay here unless they had transport as there is quite a steep road winding up to the hotel. We always managed to park along the front of the hotel but we were slightly out of main season so it may be worse at other times of the year. The lift to the resception/pool area was a good size but the 4 that went to the rooms were on the small side. We could still fit the wheelchair in with one adult and one other child at the same time though so this was fine. The hotel maintenance was spot on and couldn't be faulted. When we arrived there was no lock on one of our balcony doors yet within 10 minutes of alerting reception we had one drilled out and fitted...perfect. Our room was cleaned every morning at about 11am by a very friendly cheerful lady.

This is a very spanish hotel...but hey, it is in spain! Many of the staff make the effort to speak to you in as much english as possible which is helpful, but the entertainment side of things wasn't really for us. Most Brits tend to go down to town (Levente beach side) in the evenings for the shows and night life...but after a busy day doing Aqualandia/Terra Mitica/ Terra Natura or the many other brilliant attractions, a tired family might not have the get up and go to be trawling bar street every night.

The food was your typical 3 star spanish hotel buffet. There was always something or other that appealed to everyone each day but nothing compared to the lovely Tony Roma's Ribs down on the main drag...best ribs and chicken ever!!!

The pool was clean and well kept but is smaller than the photos make it look (very clever photography) and we always managed to get sun beds as the staff remove any towels that are left without owners for too long.

If you want a decent hotel that is just out of the way of the night life and noise, but near enough to easily visit it then I would say give this one a go.

Arrived in resort in the middle of the night and it was very dark but at least quiet. We managed to get sunbeds for all of us no problem.Food was excellent but i would not recommend it.Staff appeared half asleep but were very friendly Room appeared very small until i turned the light on, it was massive. the area round the pool was wet even when it rained, which it never did.The resort was hilly when it wasnt flat in the unflat parts.

The food in the resort was generally very poor although i would recommend the crisps in the cheers bar, which were horrible.

overall i had quite a disappointing holiday and would recommend it to all, sespecially for a total holiday cost of £11.56.

Well Benidorm is definately the place 2 be if ur lookin 4 a fab hol! we ad a brill time and wud defo go bak ther agen jus not 2 the cadiz apartments!

Rooms were ok, pretty basic but thers no air conditioning so u av 2 hire a fan from reception wen u get ther!only 1 lift which is a bit of a pain especially wen u 1st arrive! the pool is a bit small and u av 2 go down at 9 2 get a sunbed! the beach is definately a good 10-15 mins walk away and on the way bak its a hill which is tiring!

bennies bar, next door was a bit annoyin tho especially wen they ad karaoke on every nite wi the same ppl singin the same songs!and the food wasn't tha cheap 4 wha u got!staff were english tho so they were friendly unlike the 1s who worked in the apartments!

u cant fault benidorm itself tho!the beach is great and thers loadsa nice places 2 eat out nr ther!at nite its buzzin till 8 in the mornin and thers still a few places open later than that!if ur goin out its prob best 2 go bout 12 cos it dusnt get busy till then n u get all the pr's givin u free drinks vchrs!if u want gud nitelife benidorms the place 2 be!

i dont regret goin 2 benidorm, jus wish i wudda stayd in a place that was nearer the centre n nicer but 4 £275 think we got our moneys worth!

av fun if u go to benidorm but id be put off stayin in the cadiz unless u don mind walkin up hills and gettin taxis everywhere!

My/Our Holiday Review:

Well there was three of us and lets just say Benidorm is the place to be though I would never stop at the cadiz again, as it was very basic and small.

The pool area is too small and there is only roughly bout 30 sun beds which is not gud so u basicaly had to fight 4 a sun bed. I would not recommend Bennies bar as my friend found a cockroach in her food and we neva eat there again.

The staff were really helpful though the night recpitionist didnt speak a word of english so this was a big problem if anything happened throughout the night, our room was infested by cock raoches so report these as soon as you can.

We never got a taxi down to the square we always walked but this is a long way 2 walk, it gets worse when ur cumming in from a night out as the bank is really steep, be careful when gettin a taxi though as the drivers are a bit weird and prev alot though not all of them r lik that.

The cadiz is bout 15mins away from the beach, the beach is beautiful and so is the proamard.

Benidorm is rockin every night and is a really gud place to go clubbin, the PR's have always got gd nites 2 sell u I would recommend K.M the night club/ foam party u do pay 2 go in but it is a really good nite, though it is full of young spanish lads who are quite pushy.

Erm the square is a excellent nite out and is plenty 2 do. I would really recommend Lennons, Bahamas, hippodrome, chaplins, jokers and beachcomber. These have really good atmospheres.

We also went to the water park which was really good and is only about a 15min walk form the cadiz, we also went to the theme park a personaly didnt think that there was alot there however we only went becase we got free tickets off the cadiz so a cant really complain bout that.

I would also recommend the booze cruize that was really fun and a good excuse to get mortal lol.

WE went and saw sum males strippers these werent all that good, but dont miss sticky vicky she is mad you cant go 2 benidorm and not see her, uve got 2 see her this year as she is retiring next year uve GOTTA see her.

Well overal Benidrom is deffo the place to go and have a fab holiday, I would deffo go back though I would neva stay at the cadiz again.

Accomodation: Apartment very big - quite clean, more of a family place than for groups of young ppl. Were not allowed anyone bk who didnt stay in apartment - also music cld b loud durig the day, but at nyt - the dudes wld tell u to turn it down.

ppl were throwing things from balconys and the police were called b-cos of that - a bit too far a fink.

Bennies Bar: very dull looking, food was allrite but wait quite a while to get served.

Best places to go for young ones is Benidorm Square - Dancing's like Lennons, Hippodrome, and best pub is Scotsman, GREAT.

just come back from hotel calypso in benidorm, nice hotel, pleasant staff and good maid service, good location. two faults the entertainment is for the elderly only. plus we paid for full board and ending up paying for food out of the hotel for the children as the meals are not suitable. no childrens menu. we had veal four times in the week we stayed.they say its buffet but the staff dish your main meal out for you.the best food we had was a british chippie called THE CODFATHER, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.they got a specials menu, good value for menu.pool area of the calpso is nice you dont have to fight for sunbeds.plenty there.we went down at 12 one morning and found beds for all of us.

Ah Benidorm, no the wonder people return year after year, is has everything, including cheap food and drink, and of course sunshine.. and the repulsive time share poeple handing out scratchcards: still the easy to fool, easy to fleece Brits think they have won an incredible prize and off they go to be relieved of their hard earned holiday cash.. Oh and the Pea-Men.. give them a wide berth, we noticed a young couple being conned into trying and of course "losing" and when they protested were violently pushed out of the way and threatened.. just standing watching, you will be relieved of any valuables in your possession.. Pick pockets.. BE WARNED.

Hotel

Well positioned, elegant reception/Bar area, pleasant staff, spotless, maid service every day, usual rooms with TV (hire remote from reception),

Air con (which was loud at times), plenty of lifts, Food adequate, lots of choice, however, main course is dished out by staff, not a great problem as you can have what you want, ice cream from a machine, and the option of porridge for breakfast as well as the usual. Large Sun Terrace with loads of beds yet still people were needlessly "reserving" beds at 7 in the morning.. have a lie-in.. chill out.. youre on holiday!!

ENJOY BENIDORM, GREAT PLACE.. JUST BE CAREFUL.. REMEMBER YOU GET NOWT FOR NOWT!

My/Our Holiday Review:

Stayed at this hotel for 7 nights 19th-26th August. Full board food excellent. Never a problem finding a table no queues at any mealtimes. The food counters were rather high up in comparison with other hotels I've stayed in and I noticed a few children struggling to reach things.Dining room clean and staff very helpful. Not really any special selection for children but there was so much choice every mealtime it never was a problem.

Pool area clean and tidy and never encountered any problems in finding a bed no matter what time of day we went down which was a first considering it was the height of the season. There was a small childrens play area at the back of the pool area which was ok but that was about it. No kids club but we knew that before we went. Not that many English kids staying here considering it was school hols quite a lot of Spanish kids but even so our daughter enjoyed herself and made a few friends. Quite nice really not to be bombarded with swarms of kids cos we usually go to places that are more kiddie orientated.

The rooms were small but clean - balcony bigger than I expected. Air con served its purpose but it was so hot when we were there it hardly seemed to make a difference. We were on the fourth floor over looking the front of the hotel and it was a bit noisy at night (although others said they never heard a thing - either they're deaf or I'm a very light sleeper!) didn't bother us too much but if I go again I will ask for a room round the back. If you are a couple travelling without children and you want a bit of peace and quiet I suggest you ask for a room in the annex - apparently these rooms are for two people only so would be no good for families.

Never stayed in for the entertainment cos there is so much to do outside the hotel. Entertainment seemed to be geared to the older/spanish guests but the bar and entertainment area was beautiful. (we're not ones for staying in the hotel at night we prefere to go out).

On the whole I wouldn't say there is an awful lot of things for the children to do apart from the pool but if they pal up with other children they are quite happy, do don't be put off if you are planning to stay here with children - they will be fine. My daughter really enjoyed it.

Benidorm itself if for any age group and gone are the days of the lager louts - there's something for everyone. A walk into the old town at night is a must but it does tend to get very busy. Be careful with your valuables on the beach cos a few people had things taken whilst they were in the sea! we always sat as near to the waters edge as possible so we could keep an eye on our belongings - just be aware as you would at home.

A trip to the water park is a must - it's only about 15 mins walk from the hotel (bit of an uphill stuggle at the end so take some water you'll need it in the heat) they allow you to take your own food and drink into the park so that will save you a fortune - and by the way you can order a packed lunch from reception before 8pm the night before and it will be given to you at breakfast the next morning. This is free of charge cos you will be missing lunch in the hotel. These packed lunches were very good.

All in all Benidorm is a great value for money holiday destination and I would recommend it to anyone - myself and my partner have been years ago before we had our daughter and the place is pretty much the same give or take a few added shops/bars etc. Children up to the age of about 12 will love the fun fair (can't really describe where it is but it's pretty central) you pay any amount and it goes on a type of credit card and you can keep topping it up and checking how much is left. Pub Pancho's has kids entertainment from about 8:30pm which we went to on a few occasions although our nine year old feels she is getting a bit too "mature" for this type of thing.

Could go on forever about Benidorm cos there is so much to do - I won't bore you any longer cos I need to get back to work and off this website before I get sacked! only joking! honestly it was great and would recommend the Calypso to anyone planning a trip to Benidorm - just go and see for yourself - you'll love it.

We met some lovely people and a special hello to Katie who was in the room next door - I really miss our little chats over the balcony and Jenny sends her love and will keep in touch.

ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY - can't wait to return

Just back from Benidorm and it was my first time there. Well I certainly will be back. The hotel is in a great location and to top it all the hotel was brill, the staff were very helpfull and the food was fantastic, something to suit everyone as there was so many choices. So it's a must to stay at this hotel. Only downside was the entertainment it was more for the Spanish but never found it a problem we still all had a ball.

My/Our Holiday Review:

I was a bit worried about staying here after one of the comments above, however i have just returned after spending a fabulous week there (from August 19th 06).

The hotel was fantastic as were all the staff. There was definitely a wide choice on the menu at all meal times and was not repetative. Yes the air conditioning was loud but if you are like us and only use it as a base its not a problem, we didnt intend on sitting in a room all day. The location is great and not too loud although we did go down the other end of Benidorm and found it too crowded and the bars not so clean with arcades and fair rides. Morgans Tavern directly opposite the hotel is great for all the family and just further down to the left of this you will find Steptoes with great entertainment but beware if you have children and staying out late as Sticky Vicky comes on after midnight.I was surprised that they were not many people giving out leaflets but most are English anyway so just tell them you are going home the next day and they lose interest.

I found the whole holiday great and would definitely go back (but would hire a fridge next time for 18 euros a wk we only read the hotel leaflet which had been in the room from day one on the last day).Coming from a country were you cant walk into town without seeing graffiti, a couple of leaflets being put in your hand, noisy air conditioning and the odd cndom on the roof did no way spoil our holdiday.

Roll on next year as this hotel will be top of the list to go back to.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We have just returned from a great week at the hotel Calypso.

The hotel is in a great location for the beach and the nightlife ( no inclines to get to either of them). The beach being a short walk from the hotel and various pubs and clubs all within a short walking distance. The hotel has a fantastic looking entrance and everywhere is clean and tidy. The reception staff all spoke good English and were very helpful. Our rooms were on the second floor facing the road but the noise did not disturb you at night. It was quite pleasant sitting on the balcony with a cold drink reading the paper or people watching when it was too hot to walk about in the sun.The air con was noisy if put on it's highest setting but if you turned it down a bit at night it didn't disturb you. The room in general was very clean and comfortable. It was cleaned and fresh bath linen provided every day.

The restaurant was downstairs from the reception area and again the staff all spoke good English and were helpful. There is a great choice of food including English breakfasts and various puddings. We never ate the same meal twice. The ice cream was delicious and you get it yourself from a machine with unusual flavours like kiwi and pineapple. The bar staff again were polite and quick to serve you. We only watched the hotel entertainment one night and it was okay but we prefered to go out and about although a couple of nights we only made it to the Morgans Tavern across the road from the hotel.

The hotel pool is a bit on the small side but there didn't seem to be a problem with the children being able to swim and the sunbeds weren't all taken at the crack of dawn.

We would definitely go back to the Calypso again.

arrived at the hotel calypso was greeted by a very polite receptionist she booked us in.

we were on the 11 floor the rooms were very clean enough room for 2 but thats it, we had air conditioning what did make a bit of a noise.the room also had a t.v and we could whatch corrie and emmerdale while we were getting ready to go out,the food was fantastic that good we both put on half a stone when we arrived home.i dont think they cater much for the children but there was fresh salad and on the occasion chips.

my partner broke his back tooth and was in a lot off pain i went to get him somthing from the chemist i was given some capsals but couldnt understant what the chemist was on about.when i arrived back i went to the reception and spoke to ane the reception girl who was very friendly and spoke better english than me.she told me what to do with the medication.

also the swimming area was good for the kids has when we were there.there was lots of irish kids there but it wasnt very noisy, they also do a good cup of white coffee at the bar.we were just outside from morgans tavern so at the end of the night when we had enough to drink we only had to roll over the road to get to bed,if you want a takeaway try marrianos it just up the street from calypso same side,

we com to benidorm every year but never stayed in calypso i would strongly recomend it has we had a fantastic time and would deff come again,oh forgot to mention the chambermaids they only knock once,so if you are up to somthing give a loud shout has they come in,but they were great girls who do a good job cleaning the beddin and room.overall holiday was fantastic,

My/Our Holiday Review:

I'm at a loss as to what hotel the other Calypso guests in this forum where staying at as it certainly wasn't the Calypso I went to. Fancy big front entrance, looks very dramatic from the outside, but once checked in it all changes.

We stayed on the second floor which overlooked the roof of another part of the building. First impressions of the room didn't meet my expectations and the picture in the brochure certainly put a good light on the room. Its basic, three beds crammed beside two side tables and a TV hanging in one corner. A very loud air-conditioning unit accompanied the lights on the wall which looked like something out of an office. One plus is the bath room was of reasonable size.

In general I wouldn't say the room was particularly clean, in fact we seen stains on the floor which remained for the whole trip. Yes the cleaner will visit everyday and make the beds and also replace ALL your towels if need be. However that's about as far as the cleaning goes. I didn't see a mop in her hand once, which doesn't make the floor pleasant to walk on after a weeks holiday. Now lets get to the balcony, I personally found it comforting to be able to sit out of the glare of the midday sun as our balcony never got full direct sunlight. This would have been great if it wasn't for the view we witnessed for almost two full weeks. On the second day of our stay two Spanish gentlemen where seen climbing onto the roof which we over looked and they spent a good half hour cleaning what appeared to be typical holiday mess which had fallen from the rooms facing this roof. You know the sort of stuff, the odd towel, maybe a ball or two and lots of cigarette butts. However after day two these cleaning guys never came back again, so you can imagine the view. Towards the end of the holiday there was all manner of rubbish lying one floor below our balcony, including underpants, balls, litterly hundreds of cigarette butts and last but not least, two used condoms! which lay for over a week. Not a pretty sight as im sure you can imagine.

The pool isn't bad however its not too big, so when there's a crowd you can forget it. Also in the afternoon there are pool games, which means if you prefer not to take part, you would be better getting out of the pool.

Now to the meals. What can I say, If you like the same food everynight, not to mention usually well undercooked, then Calypso is for you. We were full board, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Breakfast is about the only thing worth eating and its Kellogg's Cornflakes out of a box. The cooked breakfast is reasonable if you like the Spanish sausages and as for the bacon, there's no meat on it, its all fat.

Lunches were ten times worse, usually chips obviously left over from the night before, you know how you can tell when chips have been reheated, that's what lunch was reheated food form the night before. It was difficult to even look at never mind eat. Dinner was ok for the first few nights, but then we got to see how repetitive the menu was and we quickly became sick of it. The meats were on most occasions undercooked and once cut into we just couldn't touch it. As some of the other reviews have noted, the Calypso are big on their fish, in fact it can be found somewhere on the menu every night without fail. If you like salads, then your laughing as there is a good selection of this type of food, but again try eating it for two weeks when the other food is inedible. The restaurant staff seem friendly and do a good job to what is a very poor selection and quality of food. We didn't stay in to watch the hotel entertainment as it seemed to be the same Spanish dancers on everynight. At around 19.30 there is a kids disco with games, that's good if you have young kids, but again its the same routine everynight, so even my eight year old got bored with this. On the whole I wouldn't say this Hotel deserves a three star, I've stayed in better Hostels than this Hotel. Its no more than an average two star hotel but because it has air conditioning (which barely works) its given three stars. My advice, don't bother look else where closer to the centre of benidorm.

If you get feed up with the food on offer, go to the Country Ribs which can be found 100 meters down the road. Its on the same road as Calypso and heading towards the centre. The meals in here are fantastic. If its a cheap pint you want go across the road to the Fast Sports bar, its right beside Morgan's Tavern. Two Euros for a pint. Be warned though the food in the Sports Bar is awful during the day when the Spanish cook is on. If the big Scottish lads is cooking then you will be OK. You can also get a nice curry chip at night from here.

There are so many clubs and pubs to choose from there's no point going into them in detail. A word of warning though if you have kids, there are sex shows and strippers all over the place, so be careful which bar you go into. Another pain is the people who give out leaflets, you'll be handed one of these every 30seconds and you will soon get feed up with this believe me. Also they don't care if you have kids or not, they will say its kid friendly but it usually isn't. A good bar for all the family is Cafe Benidorm.

All in all even though the hotel was awful Benidorm is a great place if not a little big!

I would return to Benidorm but will never again stay in Hotel Calypso so long as I live.

Hotel Calypso is a great place to stay we stayed full board .The choice of food for each meal was excellent i enjoyed every meal in the 2 weeks we stayed and i am a fussy eater. Pool plenty big enough to swim in and very clean, but yet again we are catching up with the germans and can match them on the sunbed hogging championship, the staff worked hard and were very friendly . hotel in a good spot near to all the good pubs and shows right opposite is morgans tavern some good acts appear there. The entertainment is dated in the hotel lots of ballroom dancing but many people enjoyed that and it was well supported each evening we went once while we were there and there was an acrobat show which was very good if you book to stay at the calypso you will enjoy it if you want a lively place go elsewhere.

dont take scratch cards off touts you will always win and they try to con you of your money, also groups of people playing hunt the pea under a shell they are all in the scam together trying to con you to have a go DONT .

if you aint been to benidorm what you waiting for its great....loads of things to do and see .tera mitica -aqualand -mundomar-vicky leighton (find out yourself about her), busses throuout benidorm 1 euro go up the grand bali hotel viewing platform 5 euros well worth it views tremendous get the train to calpe but get the times right it comes every 2 hours.boat trips to peacock island all good stuff.the weather was great no rain at all temps in the 30s each day the only thing that spoiled it was englands form in the world cup but you cant have it all.

I travelled with Thomas cook and I feel it was mis-sold in the brochure it was recommened for families and we were the youngest family there my son was the only child there. The play area was very poor. The hotel itself was very nice and clean, the staff were very friendly. The food was nice but alot of fish and pork so if you like those you'll be fine. It is very well situated to the beach, shops and bars.

On the whole we did have an enjoyable holiday because we had to make the most of it but we would not go back tio that hotel unless we were in our 70s/80s no disrepect to OAP'S.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Booked through Direct Holidays and very pleased with the whole experience.

Hotel excellent although we faced the road and there was a little traffic noise - if you want peace and quiet may be better to request a side room or one overlooking the swimming pool. Restaurant excellent. Service was good and we were booked full board - found there was plenty of choices for food but had to go up and down the stairs (not use the lifts) to work off some of the extra weight we must have gained from eating so much. We are ballroom/latin amateur dancers and found the entertainment so good that we never went out of the hotel in the evenings. Sequence dancing was also played and the Spanish guests joined in later in the evening with their own blend of dances - very interesting to watch and to try and copy. Half-hour cabaret each evening which was of good quality too.

The only thing that let down the holiday was the weather - only two days of sun during the week we were there - cloudy but no rain. Would certainly recommend the hotel - we had a very good time there!

great holiday had by all. Calypso lovely hotel staff very helpful. Food good but got a bit repetitive. Nothing at all to do for Children. Defo a hotel for the older teenager. IE 60 and above. Air con didnt work too well and I asked for someone to look at it. It worked very well after that. So if u go and ur room is not freezing dont hesitate to ask at reception. Overall 9 out of 10 but Calypso does need to cater for the younger crowd. Ok for entertainment if u like come dancing.

My/Our Holiday Review:

What can I say .... we all went there for our holiday in June 2005 and everyone enjoyed it so much we're booked to go back in June 2006! My partner and I flew out to Murcia for a week's break in Oct 2005 and drove up to Beni for 5 days, checking into the Calypso again!

On arrival in June the four of us were warmly welcomed to the Calypso by very friendly staff who made you feel right at home. Our rooms were very clean and during the course of our two week holiday the bed linen was changed every other day and the room / balcony cleaned very thoroughly.

We stopped at the Hotel on a full board basis and there was an extremely wide selection of food available - they tended to have "themed" dining nights - e.g Mondays might be Portugese, Tuesdays Italian, Wednesdays Chinese - but the biggest rush was always on a Friday - you've never seen a sea-food buffet like it!! My partner and my mum are ardent seafood fans and couldn't believe the selection / quality available - personally, I can't abide seafood but, had I had a penchant for it, then I wouldn't have been disappointed. Despite the "themed" nights, there was also a wide selection of other dishes available, so anyone who says they didn't have a lot of choice are lying through their teeth!

The pool area and pool bar was one of the cleanest I've seen on my travels. Sunbeds were plenty and should you wish to spend any time in the shade then there's a pool table and table tennis facilities. Entertainment was a bit mixed on an evening ... some of it OK, some you wouldn't bother with ... but other nightlife was literally on your doorstep if you were at the Calypso.

The nightlife for Beni caters for ALL ages - from the young uns to the blue rinses. One of the best nights we had was at the Rich Bitch Show Bar (a very elegant but entertaining drag show) in the old part of Beni. This is an "intimate" venue which seats (at a guess) about 60-70 people (inside is a bit like a 60's cavern club), but you can't just turn up - SEATS MUST BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE either by phone / in person. Everyone who left after the entertainment finished could be heard commenting glowingly on the evening's performance - and the cocktails at the RBSB are to die for! You can also treat yourself to souvenirs should you so desire!! We saw Sticky Vicky twice (not through choice!) - the first show she did at Morgans was quite tame and I wondered what all the fuss was about .... then we were in another nightclub a couple of nights later and she did a show there ... the FULL UNEDITED version!!! The full show is one of those things that you've got to see to believe it ...!!

We also ventured out to Benidorm Palace and Aqualandia ... but I have to say the unanimous decision on the best excursion on the holiday was the Catamaran boat trip including BBQ. We were picked up by coach from the Calypso and driven to Alicante port. From here we climbed aboard our transport for the day, a fantastic catamaran called Magic ..... and a truly fitting name!! There was very potent sangria on board for one euro a glass and a choice of other drinks. After sailing for a couple of hours, we eventually moored a short way off a small island, where the crew threw down the anchor and started up the BBQ on the back of the boat - very impressive! While the cooking was going on you had a choice of sunbathing on the deck / on the rigging nets at the front or snorkelling (with complementary goggles, flippers, etc). After a very long and leisurely lunch, the time came for the boat to return us all back to shore. All in all, a fantastic day and, if you only do one trip yourself, this is the one we would recommend!

If you venture down to the waterfront / beach area you won't be disappointed. Clean is an understatement! After one evening out, returning in the early hours, we strolled along the beach front where we couldn't believe our eyes - there were street cleaners doing their job and a couple of people tidying the beach ... talk about jobsworths! As for bars on the front, one of the best we went to was Romans, down at far end, opposite the water ski station. Very pleasant staff, good cheap beer - relaxing isn't the word!

All in all, a fantastic holiday and Beni (be it the old town or new town is definitely the place to go ... so much so that we're all counting down the days till we go out there again this year!

My/Our Holiday Review:

Had this holiday booked for over a year and all were very excited. On arrival at the hotel, check-in was made easy by the english speaking recption. We had four rooms on the 11th (top) floor which wasn't a problem as there are 4 lifts. The rooms are of reasonable size and the room of three was massive(not just a camp bed squeezed in).Thomson Holidays use the four storey block you see in the brochures. The key to the room is electronic and you will be given one on arrival. Extra keys can be asked for. However, we felt tat it was all to easy to get a key to the room. There were no checks and you just asked for the room you wanted. Maybe they knew which room we were in but we had only been there 10 mins and it was a different receptionist to the one who checked us in.

The food was of a very high standard and there was always a lot of choice. Was expecting a continential breakfast, but it was full english which was very tasty when arriving in after a night out. Drinks in the restaurant were of reasonable price aswell. The pool isn't the largest but it is surfice as there were never many people around. The bar of the hotel looked very nice and there was always often entertainment (mainly for the seniors) and it was always busy at night.

The hotel has a twenty four hour recption which is handy. When we went out at nite, ther was always a security guard on the door, but i think he only worked untill the early hours as he wasn't there when we returned(breakfast time).

The hotel is popular with older people (lots of them) who didn't appreciate "Girls running up and down the corridor all nite", so the rep informs me. There was a reason, which we best not go into here (Kev and Libby). However, there was lots for us to do, and lots for everyone to do. THE HOTEL IS TOP CLASS, AND WOULD RECOMEND IT TO ANYONE, FAMILIES, COUPLES OF ALL AGES!!!!!!!!!!!

Onto Benidorm, at night its just like Blackpool without the Tower. There are numerous Bars, Restaurants, Clubs, Cabarets. There's something for everyone. The best place by far to head to, is The Square. You will find it no problem. There are lots of touts offering you free shots in the bars but if your in a group like us, then that wont bother you. Chaplin's is worth a visit but i wouldnt suggest staying there after happy hour if you are on the beer, expensive. That's the same every where though. Walking up the street form Chaplin's, other places i'd suggest are Sinatra's, The Red Dog, Bahamas. ALL THE PLACES OFFER HAPPY HOUR UNTILL 11 OR 12 ON BEERS, BUT THE BEST THING TO DO IS STAY ON THE LOCAL SPIRITS, IT'S HAPPY HOUR TILL 3. A good place to end up is jokers, open till 8. You'll be able to get loads of free shots out of the touts for there!!!!! If you get the chance, go and see Sticky Vicky. You only have to buy 1 drink. The music around the places is good. A wide selection, however, they do seem to like "Working 9 till 5" and "I Would 500 miles". Must have heard them in every bar, every nite.

Only went on one tour, to the water park and it was well worth it. Something for everyone there. The best part is belly flopping from the 12ft diving platform.

ON THE WHOLE, THE HOTEL WAS FANTASTIC, THE RESORT WAS AWESOME AND WOULD CERTAINLY RECOMEND THIS T0 ANYONE.

Just returned from Benidorm - stayed at Hotel Calypso. We had a wonderful holiday - although hotel is rated as 3 star it is more like a 4 star. Bedroom average size and good bathroom - hotel spotless - food was good - great selection. We stayed full board - just too much to eat. Even served tea and biscuits/cakes to guests from 4-5pm each day (free oc charge).

Staff very friendly and most helpful. Entertainment at night - depending on age of holiday makers it might not suit all - more geared towards older folk - ballroom dancing etc - disco later in evening and usually a magic show - acrobatci show or that type of thing at 11pm each evening. We went out every evening - every bar/club has different acts on usually 5/6 each night - you can just move from place to place if one doesnt suit your taste. Try Talk of the Coast,

Valentinos, Morgans, Steptoes, to name only a few.

If travelling at this time of year - weather was very pleasant during dat but quite chilly in the evening from around 5pm - certainly need a jacket and maybe a light sweater or two.

Will return to Benidorm again - lots to do - many great hotels - restaurants etc.

Do try it - you'll love it.

Hotel, pool and grounds were spotless. Rooms were small but adequate and had TV/air conditioning. Food was good and varied. We did experience some queuing during the second week of our stay - restaurant was open until 9.30pm - wouldn't recommend going down after 8.30pm, as food choices were limited.

Hotel entertainment was mainly of the old time dancing variety - my mother loved this. As Benidorm has abundant nightlife to suit everyone on the hotel doorstep, this didn't bother the rest of our party.

There was some building work going on at the hotel opposite, but this caused no disturbance or disruption during our stay.

Would gladly recommend this hotel to anyone and will be returning next summer.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Had booked this hotel for 12 days, we lasted 6. Changed our flights and came back to UK. On the positive side the rooms were clean with air con/heating but the bathroom was tiny with half a bath.

We accepted it to be noisy due to the location of the hotel. (traffic etc) What we didn't expect was the calibre of guests. A group of 12 Spanish lads aged between 19 - 25 invaded the hotel and caused absolute mayhem. Shouting all night, kicking doors in, breaking windows and defeacating on the beds which they had already broken, 5 in all. Police were called on a number of occasions and on the 3rd night they were asked to leave the hotel. This party was replaced by a group of Spanish various ages who talked all night and slammed doors. Not to mention the noisy couple in the next room who was playing music day and night. After requesting she turn it down we were met with a torrent of abuse.

Meals were very poor, always cold and food stuck to the metal serving dishes. No wine glasses in the restaurant you had to use a tumbler and then scrape and stack your own plates!!! A female guest without any teeth sometimes cleared your plate mumbling in Spanish at you. I would advise anyone not to go there. Stay at home!!!

Minus points. The Pool is not marked out and has a very steep incline 3-4 feet in. This pool is not suitable for young children or non swimmers. Its not heated and despite the hot weather was never comfortable to be in.

Plus points. The pools never overcrowded!

Accommodation was spotless.

Staff friendly and helpful.

Very spanish but hey that is why we went.

Bathroom was tiny but with 2 year old twins that was a bonus. Not so far to run to grab them. The LOVED the baby sized bath.

Food was fine. A Big tip is to have the lunches as they were much nicer than the dinners. If travelling with young children. Do what th Spanish do. Have lunch and then a nice long Siesta. Once we clicked onto that the Twins were much easier to handle.

If we go to Benidorm again would definately return to this hotel as long as we did not have the babies with us. As it is I cannot state strongly enough that this pool is VERY Dangerous for young childen.

Try Vincents Karaoke down the road.

Turn right, right and cross the road 300 yards down for English newspapers. They are on a post outside the Shop. 2 Euros though. Avoid the Hotel Colon just on the beach. The would not give us a proper receipt for lunch. Pretty sure they ripped us off but they pretended they did not understand English. Funny as they seemed to understand when we ordered.

Just visited Hotel Camposol in Benidorm and was very pleased with it. Very reasonably priced and spotlessly clean. The maids came every day to clean and cheange towels and sheets and they also cleaned the windows in the hotel. Not many British staying there mostly Spanish but did not bother us. They now serve cooked breakfast which is new for 2006 and there was plenty of cereal, cakes rolls etc.

Location was Central Benidorm just up behind the shops which was so handy and the beach is a few minutes walk down a hill. The beach is far superior to Levante as there are no rocks in the sea which you do get down the other end. Some nice little British pubs in old Benidrom but be careful as they are not cheap like the Spanish bars. Would defianately go again to this hotel.

We stayed at the hotel camposol in Sept 2005. I cannot fault the cleanliness of this hotel, its quite basic but well kept, the pool was disappointing quite small but no sun could get to it for the trees so we had to go to the beach but this hotel is close to both beaches and they are lovely. The breakfasts are not worth getting up for but we found the evening meals ok with a limited choice avaliable.

Our family spent alot of time at the coach and horse pub which is just down the road from hotel camposol their meals are really nice and all the staff are very friendly, we also went to a pub called Queens it one street away from levante beach this is a must for sunday lunch they are delicious are pretty cheap for a three course meal. We did enjoy our stay at the hotel camposol and would return again because staff are friendly, the place is lovely and clean the only thing that spoils it is the pool and that theres no sun loungers

this is not the hotel for the british holiday maker, every thing is catered for the spannish,if you do go here do not pay for anything other than bedroom only ,these are very small ,the toilets and shower were poor and dont expect to have a bath its only half size, one plus on the rooms they do have air condition in them and also a tv ,but this is no use if you dont speak spannish, the hotel has a pool but no sun loungers but then it gets no sun all day either the hotel is in a very built up area and if you have a pool view you also have a view of the multi story car park in front of the hotel, dont go there if possible i would feel very angry if this was my appointed hotel on arrival, the hotel dont care if you like it or not the food is very poor and dont bother with whats on the menu board it never changes.

in all its no more than a bed for the night if that was my only need then it is for you but not if you want a hotel that offers you entertainment and made to feel welcome as part of your holiday.you have been warned.

I'll give u the +s first, the hotel is very clean and the air con is ist class. The bar prices are cheap (1.80)euro for a pint of San Mgel.

Now for the - points: The pool is 2 small (no depth markings so u have to watch the non swimmers), no sun loungers just plastic tbls and chairs, beer bottles and glasses were allowed around the pool area and during the week some were dropped and broken glass had to be picked up (some kids got minor cuts). The spainards useing the pool felt it to be ok to smoke in the pool we complained to the hotel staff who just shrugged their shoulders.

The meal times were 8-10am continental breakfast, 1-3pm lunch and 8-10pm evening meal. The food seemed to be geared more for spanish tastes and was served with cold chips, EVERY DAY!. There are no late checkout facilites and we were told that if we wanted to freshen up before coming home that we should use the poolside shower. We were not informed of a buildind site directly across the road from the hotel(they started work at 7-30am for 6 days of the week and they were noisy). The hotel is on a slight incline which we didn't find to be a problem (some people might have trouble with it).

To cut a long story short, the hotel is a spanish hotel and it caters for spanish people, if u decide to go to it be prepared to be treated like 2nd class people.

It wont stop me going to Benidorm but when I do it will not be to the Camposol Hotel.

Firstly i must tell you that this hotel is on a incline and would not suit people with walking problems/and wheelchairs, the rooms for sleeping in is fairly spacious but the bathroom is so small you cannot bend over without banging your head on something.the meals served here are for the spanish only breakfast is a selection of tea, coffee, bread rolls jam butter and thats it no choice of paying for a cooked breakfast and the tea time offer is the same only difference is that cold chips are the order of the day everyday with food thats not labled no one to ask what is on offer, the location of old town is good.

for a good meal morning and night time i will recommend the oh,maras bar the food is marvellous and the cost equals it we ate in there just about everynight after finding what the hotel food was like and we were never hungry and never dissapointed,a good watering hole is jumping jacks in the new town among several others churchills is another one entertainment brill especially the multi tallented lad who plays thie fiddle, guitar & keyboard cant think of anything more to tell but i heard so many people not happy with this hotel.

The Canfali is at the top of the old town next too the church and must have the best view of Levante beach ever.If you want young and lively forget it .Quiet friendly clean and near some good bars then this is the place. Some steep roads, but manageable by most people.Spanish orientated but dont let that put you off,you are in Spain after all. The rooms are basic but spotless with maid service every day.And if you go full board a bottle of wine is included with lunch and dinner. The bar prices are not extortionate. If you are in Benidorm try the buffet male.At 8 euros you will not be disappointed.Check out the prices at Benidorm spotlight.

2 rooms were broken into one on the first floor and another on the third, the locals tell us this is a weekly occurance and the management was of no help what so ever, they told us they had rung the police and when they had not arrived we asked again only to be told no police and then they disappeared for 3 hours.

The locals firmly believe this is an inside job, there were 12 asleep in the apartments and the thief even had the gaul togo into our bedrooms and go through all the drawers, something very strange is going on in that place as no-one woke up, I know it seems far fetched but were we gassed?

My/Our Holiday Review:

Booked a week very cheaply for the Carlos V in July and it was a great holiday.

The apartments are what we were expecting, basic but comfortable and had everything you needed, they were clean and nothing broken or anything like that. The balcony is huge if you get one of the end apartments like we did and we were on the 7th of 8 Floors which gave a nice view. There was only one lift though which can only really fit 4 people in max but we managed alright! The pool is very small and there is no 'deep end' as such but it is cosy and we spent alot of time round there and there is no charge for sunbeds unlike some other hotels in Benidorm or on the beach(which is 2 mins away).

The location of the Carlos V could not be any better as we had everything we needed within a minutes walk!

The main square where all the main bars are situatued is literally a 1 minute walk up the road which is really handy for when you are rolling in drunk in the early hours of the morning! The apartments are also bang across from the Rockys bar which is a great bar and as happy hour on all spirits till 2am every night and as a good karaoke on which is a laugh when you get drunk enough to get up!!

The main bars are all on the square and out of these i would say that the Beachcomber is the best place for good music and is where you will find the most young people but all the other bars round the square are good and pretty full too.

The rodeo bull thing outside sinatras bar is a giggle to go on for 4 euros!

Also the KFC is just up from the apartments and is open 24/7 i think as we payed visits to it at like 6am in the morning and they were still open and serving food which is good when you crawl out of the bars and have got the munchies on!

Benidorm is full of great bars and places to go and you will not get bored. I would probably say that the best place to go and watch comedians is the Steptoes I bar.

Also when we were there, there was quite a number of people who try and get you to sign up to the bar crawls that they have on saturday and wednesdays and always targetted us because we were a group of young lads. We never signed up to these as we thought it was a bit of a rip off and didn't trust the dodgy geezer trying to con us to go on them and he was insisting on us going up to the apartments to get some money and give them a deposit for this bar crawl. We found out that most of the bars they go in are bars you can get in for free anyway so you could just tag along with the crawl if you wanted to!

Special mention to a bloke called Tariq who promotes the Loch Ness bar. The guy is a legend! We used to have chats with him every night and we would go into his bar and get free shots and have a few drinks and on our last night he got us a free bottle of champagne! So look out for him!

We are going back to Benidorm again in October hopefully and we have looked at booking the Carlos V again but they are already booked!!

I would definetly stay there again!

we arrived at carlos V at the time we had given to them, when we checked in we were informed that our room had not yet been cleaned. we were instructed to leave our luggage on the balcony and return in 2 hours. in our appartment the beds and the sofa were comfortable however there was no air conditioning. 3 of our lightbulbs were gone and had not been replaced even after we asked them to replace them, 3 rooms being the two bedrooms and bathroom.

there was no porter and 9 times out of ten their was no one at the desk, we were right facing rocky's bar and above charles bar so of a night it was noisy.

however we were only minutes away from the beach and it was in the centre of the nightlife.

the pool was small and the water looked unhealthy and dirty. their was no water filter by the looks of it. the man who cleaned out the pool of a morning took all of 5 minutes.

the small amount of staff that were there were friendly however there was never any one to go to to ask for more towels or anything.

my time at benidorm was great it is a great place to go, i recommend to anyone who likes to be entertained to go to the Morgan Tavern and watch Mr.ROSE PETERS a drag artist that takes the audience into another element, he is a funny character and i have talked to him many a times in person and he is also funny of stage benidorm would not be the same without him.

The pool area is kept clean, but the sun beds do not have mattress's and do not adjust for you to sit up.there is no bar service around the pool.the outside terrace bar in the morning didnt have service until late morning as only one staff member was on duty seyying up tables, so you had to wait until this was done before you were served.the food was of very poor quality, with not much choice and some times it was not very hot,the staff on the whole were friendley, and efficient.

we would not go back to this hotel

Very dissapointed with this holiday due to the fact that Thomson Holidays s are selling it as a child free hotel, exclusively for adults and gaurantee that they and hotel do not sell to under 16 etc......not true! Both weeks we were there the hotel had several children residents ranging from 1year old upwards. All spanish!.

The hotel itself is in a quiet street so not too noisy but very little going on in it. Even the activities advertised in hotel ie archery, killer darts etc never seemed to happen. Food was ok if you like fish as it always seemed to be there in several forms, limited choice of everything. I think after reading reviews on this hotel from past that it appears to have went downhill!. Also no smoking in all hotel public areas including bar and entertainment lounge so beware as you are not told this before going.

My/Our Holiday Review:

It was my first time in Benidorm although my partner Russell has been to Benidorm twice before and we stayed for 2 weeks. The Hotel Castilla is 4 star hotel and is situated off the main Europa road near the top next to the Rio Park Hotel. The hotel is very well presented and clean with a nice swimming pool and small and friendly, there are alot of older clients at the hotel and no children or huge families which was a blessing! and one of the reasons why we chose this accomodation. Our room was facing the Rio Park Hotel and was a nice size and clean. We stayed on a half board basis and the food in the hotel was varied and decent, the restaurant is a nice size and the staff are very good. There is no need to stay full board in Benidorm as there are plenty of places to eat with good value for money.

Benidorm has alot to offer and your holiday can be as loud or as peaceful as you chose to make it. There are lots of bars and places to eat, The Cheap and Cheerful bar at the end of the street on the right as you step out of the Hotel delivers exactly what it says with bottles of beer from 60 cent and pints from 1 euro with nice cheap midday snacks. We also found a gem called the Tasty Pastry which is down the yellow brick road set back on the left, this cafe is run by a lovely couple from Southampton and the menu varies from pasties to made to order sandwiches and rolls which you can eat in or take-away, definately worth a try for midday food.

We walked miles around Benidorm from one end of the beach to the other, the old town is very pretty with lots of cafe bars and Tapas restaurants and has a lovely feel to it at night. The views from the top of the old town are excellent both in the day and at night. There is a lovely beach just to the right of the old town which is much quieter than the main beach and worth a look.

All in all we had a great 2 weeks exploring Benidorm and 1 week wouldn't have been long enough. Watch out for the Time Share people in the centre of the old town with there fancy scratch cards and the Potato man group on the Promonade who are conmen and should be under lock and key. Most importantly its very hot out there so look after yourselves and apply plently of sunscreen as i have never seen so many burnt bodies in one place in all my life and guess what they were all British!

We would definately go back to Benidorm again and stay in the same hotel if the standards remain the same.

Happy Holidays...!

Just returned from Hotel Castilla Benidorm.

Never stayed in Benidorm before. Castilla is 4 star hotel. location is quite good, set back from all the hustle bustle. There isn't really a sea view as such as there are so many tall buildings. Castilla is down a side road next to the busier Rio Park Hotel. Mainly older people at this hotel, which was fine for us as it was quiet. Lots of other Brits came into the hotel at night mainly for the sequence dancing, and grabbed all the best seats. The food was very nice but we felt there should have been more variety for a 4*, what we had was adequate for a weeks stay. The Red Dog bar is good if you like line dancing and country music, really friendly crowd and all local drinks 2 for 1 till 11 p.m. The Duke of York and the Beatles Bar are in walking distance to the hotel and different acts on each night, 241 drinks all night. Our room was at the back of the hotel which was a bonus because was quiet at night. Those with pool view complained of traffic noise from nearby busy carriageway. Some staff were friendly, some were not.

Word of warning - There were 150 Spanish guests staying on our first weekend and the noise out of them is unbelievable, they all 'shout' at the same time and go around in a big group. Whilst British couples were quietly sunbathing they would bring their coffee and ciggies out and would sit in a big group making a racket - I told them to keep quiet as the noise was ridiculous!! Despite this, would probably return to the Castilla.

This was the first time at Hotel Castilla and we found it to be exceptionally clean the maid came every day and the staff where very friendly.Meals were good the pool was very clean and plenty of sunbeds to go round.

The only thing we found was that Benidorm is geting very dirty with piles of pungent rubbish in large bins on the road which you have to pass as you are walking around at night. However entertainment is still excellent and varied .The western bar is a fantastic friendly place where the blues bros act is ace! Also check out the Star And Garter for top karaoke nights If you want a snack and a gorgeous milky coffee call in at the Blueberry Hill which is on the way to the beach.

We would definetly return to Hotel Castilla if we venture to Benidorm again

The Castilla Hotel was absolutely wonderful. It was extremely clean and well looked after. The reception staff and indeed everyone was friendly and helpful and encouraged us when we practised our little Spanish on them. We used to creep in about 2 in the morning and John the security man would always have a word with us, as would the receptionist.

Benidorm itself suited us as we like to go to Karaoke bars which there were plenty of. Also the Duke of York opposite was a good place to go.

We walked to Old Benidorm which was lovely, also to Levante Beach which was clean and nice.

We could relax around the pool with lovely music playing in the background.

The food was good and plenty of it.

We would definitely return again to this hotel. It was superb.

The Castilla is a lovely hotel and well worth it's 4* status and would recommend this hotel to anyone. It's central to the nightlife but because it's situated in a side street you won't be subjected to excessive noise. The beach is a 10 minute walk away (take a short cut through the park opposite the main entrance of the hotel.

We hope to go back in September to this hotel. (Fingers Crossed)

My/Our Holiday Review:

Just come back from two weeks in Benidorm, the filthiest hovel I have ever witnessed for a holiday! However, the Hotel Castilla made up for all of that.

This Hotel is a must! The staff are very friendly and most helpful. The maids cleaned and changed the towels every day, the beds were changed every two days. The hotel has electronic devices on the room doors and the safety deposit boxes inside the rooms, so no worrying about having your stuff stolen.

The food was amazing! The restaurant staff work damned hard and are constantly clearing vacant tables, stripping them right down to prepare them for guests coming in. They are very accommodating and helpful, keeping the place spotless. Not once was there a repeat of the same menu during the two weeks we stayed there. There is a huge selection to choose from and everything is very good. We chose to eat out once just to try Tony Romas Rib restaurant, which I might add was worth the visit! There was no scrambling for sunbeds each morning, this is the first time we have never had to set the alarm clock to put towels out at dawn. Even around lunchtime there were loads of sunbeds available.

The pool area is considerably small but was big enough. It again, is immaculate. The staff take great pride in their Hotel and it is very apparent. Some of the guests were saying they had been to the Hotel for the last 7 years and have seen many improvements each year.

This Hotel made my holiday for me because Benidorm itsef is a complete hovel. I would never, ever revisit the place. The streets are filthy and stink of refuse all the time. There are women beggars who sit on the pavements begging with their tiny babies in their arms at ungodly hours of the night and early morning. Not to mention the pickpockets! If you are constantly aware of these people operating nightly, you might be ok. It isn't the most relaxing place to be of an evening though. Fair play there is plenty to do, something for everyone but I and my family have been to far nicer and cleaner places.

The water park, Aqaulandia, is a good day out. However, again the water is filthy, floating tissues, hair, used plasters and dead flies, need I go on! There are some good bars we used to frequent which seemed alright. The Harp, an Irish bar, was very pleasant. There was this amazing Irish guy, Peter, who could play the keyboard like no-one I've seen before! He was excellent and the young lads who ran the place were great too. The Triangle which was a fair walk for us from the Castilla, was a good night out too. I was a karaoke bar which catered for families. There was some good talent in there most evenings. Chaplins bar was good for up to date music and a relaxed atmosphere. If you want very lively then The Square is for you! Banging music, lots of young people and extremely lively.

The Levante beach was beautiful both during the day and at night. The lit-up promenade was lovely to stroll down of an evening. The tractors went on to the beaches every night and combed through the sand. Old Benidorm is definitely worth a walk to. It was about 20 minutes walk for us but the view was gorgeous. At night there are little stalls lit up with faity lights selling handmade products. The shops around the old town are fantastic, if you like shops then it's a must! It's just a pity the Hotel Castilla isn't in a different location because I could recommend it to anyone.

A fabulous hotel that should have more than it's allocated four stars!!!!!!!!!!

When we decided to go to Benidorm we chose the Castilla because if the weather had been bad there were a lot of facilities that we could enjoy. Central heating, pleasant lounge arears, comfortable rooms with Engligh television and exceptionally good food. However, the weather was favorable so we did not have to spend a lot of time in the hotel. They show English video 3 times a day that you can watch in your room or in the TV lounge.

One afternoon when we returned to the hotel the film they were showing a 4 o'clock we did not fancy. The staff were very pleasant and we mentioned that we had brought a personal DVD player with us together with some DVD's so they played one of ours which of course did not have spanish subtitles. The reps were also very good.

Just returned from staying at the Castilla this is a 4 star hotel but should be rated a 5 star. The hotel was fantastic and all the staff were really friendly.

Maid service was everyday and the whole place was always clean and tidy.

There was a great selection of food and drink and there was definately something for everyone no matter what there tastes are. The only downside was if you have children theres very limited evening entertainment. But pubs and clubs are less than a 5 minute walk away. This Hotel is right in the centre but noise is very minimal.

We liked it so much were planning to go back next year.

Myself and my family have just returned from a fantastic holiday in the hotel castilla in Benidorm.

The hotel has just been refurbised and looks top class. The staff are extremley friendly and welcoming and the rooms are cleaned every day with fresh towels. The rooms are of a good size and there is a tv provided!! The food at the hotel was also good and i had some fantastic meals. You can also order packed lunches if you are going out for the day and for when you stay around the pool a waiter will bring around a mid morining snack which i thought was a nice touch!! However although i enjoyed the food if i'm honest it wasn't quite 4 star standard.

the entertainment within the hotel was non existent which won't bother you too much because there is soooo much going on in benidorm at night!! We were frequent visitors to jumping jacks before going to the square and normally ending up at Jokers which stays open untill 8 in the morning. If you don't want to be right in the middle of the action then the castilla is definatly the hotel for you especially if you are older or have young children. However if you are slightly younger i would recomend the hotel venus and orange as they are in the middle of everything and right by the square!!

We had a fantasitc holiday and i will definatly be visting benidorm and the castilla again.

the hotel its self is nice but meals were fish every nightfor 14 nights . no kids choice or buffet we only ate here a few times after paying for it breakfast was streaky bacon or runny scrambled eggs and a few bits of cold ham which didnt look much like it .

the staff in the out side pool took their job a bit far as they came up to one of our party to shout and bawl (in spanish) at her for drinking her own bottle of water at the pool . no signs to say otherwise . very embarrassing . spanish music the same every night a small bottle of coke outside at night was £2.10 not even served with a smile

Yes we had all our holiday presents taken 12 hours before we were due to fly home, so couldn't be replaced. Police not really interested probably because we couldn't understand them and they couldn't understand us, but it is their country. Well what can I say. The location of these apartments are central and ideal for all amenities and nite life. Oven runs on Calor Gas (which you have to connect yourself) two rings only, no kettle or microwave so eating out is really a must. No cleaning done at all during our 1 week stay. BUT be warned you will not be short of visitors, first time apparently to see what is available and no clues left until little things niggle the second time, yes you have it, we were burgled twice. It wasn't till the second time when everything was taken we remembered the foot prints in the bath where apparently the thiefs had gained entry through the bathroom window (the bathroom windows can apparently be removed and replaced from outside) Very little done by the local police as no english was spoken. Your complaints have to be done by interpreter on phone. Be warned, there is absolutely no security to these apartments, they may look secure but are definately not. No reception and anyone can gain entry by waiting for someone to exit the building

The apartments are sparce, consisting of livingroom which only has a settee and table only, decent sized bedroom with ample wardrobe space, small bathroom and as previously said a completely useless kitchen. This is not sour grapes, they really are that bad

Always imagined Benidorm to be like Blackpool but how wrong I was. The resort has everything for all age groups whatever your taste, we arrived in September and the weather was glorious, every day it was 29 degrees and we were there for two weeks. We stayed in apartments Contesa which are low rise and only a short walk from the beach at the Rincon end, we had tried to book an apartment on the beach front, but i'm glad we didn't or we would have missed a lot of the shops and the indoor market which we passed on the way to the beach.

Contesa is a lovely three bedroom two bathrooms apartment which has upstairs and downstairs and all mod cons. It has two large balconies one off the lounge, and the other off one of the large bedrooms downstairs. The swimming pool is massive. It was great to sit in the Balcony in the evening and see the pool and the palm trees lit. we booked this apartment from benidormrentals.com and I will definately rent again this year for my holidays and would recommend it to anyone.

We arrived December 9th 2006 to find the Hotel very clean with friendly efficent staff.

There were no Spanish guests in the hotel as the last Spanish bank holiday had just ended when we got there.

The bedding was changed every day if you wanted and an abundance of good quality towels also changed each day if needed.

The food was a bit hit & miss but noticably

improved when the head waiter returned from

his holidays.

Our room was at the back facing the cemetery which was immaculately kept and had the advantage of being quiet at night.

We can not comment on the entertainment as we never stayed in at night.

We met up with old friends mostly in the new town where the best entertainment is.

There are places near the Corona Del Mar.

Marcos bar get full on Thursday's and Saturday's for an old fashioned singalong with the legendary Harry on keyboards.

He plays none stop and accompanies all the singers. The Maiti bar is just around the corner toward the Poniente beach and great for a bit of karaoke.

All in all a good week. The weather could have been kinder. On sunny days we'd go onto the Poniente beach against the wall and it's out of the wind and much warmer.

Prior to our arrival I had telephoned hotel and requested a room with a sea view, on our arrival we were greeted by a very efficient and helpful female receptionest who spoke perfect english and went out of her way to assist.

we had a sea view room that was quite larger than the average hotel room it was spotlessly clean and for the next two weeks the daily maid service kept it in pristeen condition.Having read the mixed reviews on the food i can only add that for our stay the food and the daily verity was first class and certainly deserved its 4 Star and excellency certificates it had been awarded the waitresses were first class the chef was always on hand and very pleasant.

So i would close with this advise if you are considering this hotel go for it you certainly should not be dissapointed.

we enjoyed our stay at the Corona del Mar. Other write ups tell you exactly where it is placed and it is a very enjoyable, easy stroll into the Old Town after dinner in the evening. This is a very clean, well kept hotel. On the whole we enjoyed the meals. There were hiccups occasionally, like, one night there was only cauliflower as the vegetable and the following night there were six different ones. The meat was always nicely cooked and the variety of sweets was excellent. We always managed to get a sunbed around the pool.

We had a sea view room on the 6th floor which overlooked the prom and beach.Although this is a very busy corner we had no problems with road traffic noise. Because the general public are welcomed into the entertainments area, some nights it was difficult to find seats. Would we reccommend this hotel? Yes, we would, it well deserves its 4star rating. Would we visit again? Yes, if we wanted to stay in the Poniente area. Our stay was a pleasure.
