This is from Sarah that works at the Garden of Eden. I just wanted to thank everyone for the comements that you have put on and to say that we had just as good a time having you there as you did being there. I am writing basically because of the demise of Golden Sun we do not know as yet who we will be with next year but I hope I will be able to let you know soon

My/Our Holiday Review:

Have just come back from a weeks holiday in St George staying at the Garden of Eden. Although very very basic and not exactly what we were expecting the rooms were suitable for living in as we used them only as a place to shower and sleep. Sheets were changed twice in one week and the towels every other day, same with the floors and toilet being cleaned....this was done by the very friendly nicoletta.

The pool area is excellent and the pool was really clean, a bit cold at times but once you finally pluck up the courage to go for it you soon get used to it.

The bar and eating area were really good, they do a really good cup of tea which is much appreciated after a night of drinking ouzo and sambuca. The staff were brilliant, Sarah especially is hilarious and really fun and easy to get along with, Tasos, although alot quieter than Sarah was still really nice!

St george has fabulous beaches and really nice bars and resturants, my particular favourites were the 'Panorama' resturant and the 'iron dragon' for a really nice chinese.

Although alcohol seems quite cheap in the supermarkets, if all ur doing is taking it home wait for the duty free in the airport its much cheaper!

Captain Costas boat trip to Paxos and Anti Paxos is really good, i would definately recommend it! We had dolphins swimming by the boat and the scenery around both islands is awesome.

Would definately go again to St George and stop in the same accommodation.

My/Our Holiday Review:

For the first time ever, our plane took off on time there and back and our luggage came out first! However, this seems to be the only thing that Golden Sun scored points on. Having read reviews about the Garden of Eden before we left we were somewhat dubious about the accommodation.

Unfortunately, our fears were confirmed when, after waiting for an hour for our rooms to be 'cleaned' we entered the smallest and dingiest room i have ever had the misfortune to stay in. this is the third time i have been on a self catering holiday and the last two apartments were big and spacious (and one of them was in the infamous Orlando in Tenerife!) - this could not be called an apartment. there were two single beds - one of which was broken and was never fixed in our weeks stay resulting in us sharing a single bed -a wardrobe and what has to be the most pathetic kitchenette i have ever seen. the fridge stank and worked temperamentally meaning we never really used it, there were no pans to cook with even if we had wanted to and we had two forks and one knife! there wasn't a table to eat on so we would have sat on our 'bed' to eat.

The bathroom was an absolute joke. it STANK of sewage (turns out there is a sewage works of some sort nearby) so every night we had to put bleach down the drain, the toilet was filthy and we had what the rep called a 'heineken shower'. oh bless her and her little ironic socks. basically she was trying to make a joke out of the fact that the shower was not attached to the wall and therefore could refresh parts that other showers couldn't. ha ha. oh, and if you had a shower curtain you were considered lucky! However, we only spent nights here so we were pleased to see that the pool area was clean and spacious although the food was dearer here than others. if you're interested we were in Room 1 in the small block. we had the smallest room too (we checked our neighbours).

St. George is lovely and the beach is beautiful. there isn't a lot to do unless you book up excursions which were usually about 30 euros. aqualand is definitely worth a visit. the prices are reasonable, most nights we spent an average of 2o-25 euros for a meal and drinks. the malibu taverna is best for cheap meal with massive portions (the calamari is huge!) and the panorama is lovely for sea views.

all in all we had a fab holiday but it would have been nicer to have an apartment that felt homely. my advice: don't go to the Garden of Eden unless you intend on using the room to sleep in and don't mind the smell of sewers.

Have been to St Georges 5 times in the last 4 years, having been to many other resorts in Corfu St George is the place i have fallen in love with! last year i took my 1yr old on her 1st trip to corfu and we stayed at Garden of Eden.

Although accomodation was very basic, staff were brilliant could not fault them, they went out of their way to make us welcome. We returned in August this year for 2wks but ended up staying 4wks.Veronica our rep was great always happy to help if i needed her! Sarah became my daughters best friend, tassos and Spiros were really friendly to.The pool was lovely had no worries about my daughter running around it was a safe friendly complex. Food was good sarah was happy to help in any way she could.

We will definately be going back next year! Sarah if you read this get the sambucca chilled! Overall accomodation basic, but the resort is fabulous as are the staff! and i can recommend Zacks 2 restaurant especially if you have small children like myself the food is fabulous and its only 1euro 50 for a childs meal. Cant wait to go back again!!

Just spent a week at the Garden of Eden.On arrival we were shocked at the room,it was very basic and to our supprise had two single beds. The bathroom was unbelievable it smelt of sewers all the time.

The pool area was great, plenty of loungers and never too busy,so you were able to chill out in peace!Food at the Garden of Eden was good, with breakfast's and snacks available. Sarah was helpful and cheeful throughout the day!

The beaches were really nice too, with plenty of watersports and activites to do!!

There were plenty of bars and resteraunts, with great food and friendly atmospheres!!The Garden of eden was at the botttom of the resort,so you needed to walk along the beach front to get to all the bars etc,it takes about 15 mins to get there!!

Overall we had a great time chilling out the resort was fine it's just the accommodation that let us down!

Just back from 2 weeks at the Garden of Eden. The best holiday we have had for a good few years. The accomodation was basic but cleaned every day,by the loverly Nicoletta.

The bar area is clean and tidy, music not to loud nice place for a relaxing drink after a long day in the sun,and if you stay there long enough you are bound to meet Yanni who will gladly reel off all the info about the area, and if you would like to hire a scooter for a few days, just pop down the road to his shack and he will sort you out with everything you need. There are plenty of bars and good resturants serving excellent food, shop around, the prices do vary. For a realy good night out pop along to Barbayiannis and say hi to jimmy, but beware this man is crazy and a great host, you will enjoy his dancing.

The beaches at St George are superb the sand dunes are a real treat and a little gem awaites you just at the end of the dirt track by the lake, its called Rousselis Restaurant, here you will find Helena and Sofia who will serve you with the best greek cuisine, and the coldest beer on the island, its an ideal place to call in on the way to or from the beach. And finally back to the Garden of Eden and the loverly Sarah, who does just about everything and always with a smile, early morning breakfast or a nightcap she`s a real bundle of fun.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The resort in it's self was good if somewhat spread out, with a very good beach and clean safe water.

I can certainly recommend the Malibu Restaurant for it's excellent service, good food and large portions, that's why my trousers no longer fit.

We have been to Corfu and other Greek Islands many times, always self catering, so we do know what basic means, but I cannot come to terms with the worn out appearance of the apartments, and that was not just our opinion, some examples: - The self catering area, the sink waste was leaking onto the utensils stored beneath (which had badly stained the plastic colander), more water came out of the base of the mixer tap than out of the spout. The grill supplied again unfortunately had not been cleaned, this more or less ruled out any self catering that we might have wished to do. But not too important as we do not self cater. Although the fridge did not have any shelves worked very well keeping the beer cold and even managing to freeze the ouzo.

The living area: - basically, and there is no other way of saying this, was dirty, on arrival there were a few varieties of the previous occupant's hairs including the pubic variety. During the course of the holiday the sheet and towels were regularly changed but the state of the room cleanliness did not realy improve e.g. the area under the beds never got swept or mopped and we also experienced more hairs or the longer variety whilst me and my wife both have short hair. That led us to deduce that the water was not changed from room to room.

The bathroom / toilet area: - the sink leaked and water was collected by a bucket which my wife emptied daily but the cleaner missed cleaning under it, the toilet was far cleaner after we left than when we arrived (our neighbours actually used 4 x bottles of bleach to clean their toilet) the shower tap assembly leaked and the water from the end of the shower hose escaped from everywhere but the shower head. On one laundry day we actually were left with a bath mat as a towel.

The pool: - the pool was never cleaned out and there appeared a continually growing accummulation of sand and on one day there was a paper bag in the bottom of the pool, although I was assured that the correct amount of chemicals were added daily. I never actually saw that happen as experienced in other pools. On a positive note the sun loungers were the best I had experienced on any Greek Island apartment complex.

The bar area: - The saving grace for these apartments could be found at the bar in the form of Sarah who singlehandly made the whole experience sufferable, she would do anything for you, always happy and cheerful with a huge personality and always with a smile.

The other problems with the apartments were: - they had a feral cat who had recently had kittens, as these grew they would try to enter your apartments and on more than one occasion I had to clean cat hairs and dried cat blood from our balcony chairs, however this was not helped by misguided holidaymakers feeding and enticing them into their apartments also that the apartment looked rather shabby with quite a bit of unfinished building work that sometimes was in progress as we sat around the pool.

Unfortunately even with Sarah's excellent attitude I could not recommend these apartments to anyone.

Oh. By the way the Sunworld rep, Veronica, gave the most informed welcome speech that we have ever experienced.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We just got back from two weeks in St George on the SW coast of Corfu. The weather was gorgeous - we went in the first two weeks of July - with just one overcast day the whole time we were there. Temperatures were around 30 celcius each day.

The resort is really nice. It has expanded in the last couple of years and is mainly along one strip on the seafront. You can walk from one end to the other in around 30 minutes at a steady pace. The bars are nice with an array of quizzes and karaokes on offer. We won a jet-ski and boat ride, as well as various free drinks, at some of the quizzes. You can get half-litres of beer for 3 euros.

Their is a nice selection of restaurants but watch out for the service charges. Many charge you 1 euro per person to eat, even though there's no mention of it on their menus.

There's one cash machine for the resort that often runs out of money on Sundays and Mondays - you have been warned! There was no laundry facilities.

There are a couple of Internet cafes. We liked the XL bar that also offered free pool, table tennis and board games. It is just 1.50 euros for 30 minutes there. There are also plenty of takeaways and supermarkets and things are reasonably cheap.

You can get the UK papers in the resort and most of the hotels' pools are free to use, so don't worry about staying in Georges' Apartments from that point of view. The Garden of Eden and Golden Sands hotels (both within 2 minutes walk) have nice pools.

We went on excursions to Aqualand, Corfu Town, the islands of Paxos/Anti-Paxos and for a Beach BBQ to the Greek mainland. Don't book through the tour operator - they are very expensive. There's some good deals if you shop round. We booked through Stork Travel and had no probs.

Lastly, Georges' Apartments... they're quite poor. We spent as much time as possible out because we didn't like our room. There's no air-con (tho you can HIRE fans for an extra cost!) and they are very hot. If you open the patio doors to cool the place down, you get swamped with various bugs. You have to choose between the heat or having it not quite as hot but with bugs.

We also suspected our sheets had bed bugs. No bites when we went to sleep but we often woke up covered in small red 'spots'. Additionally, the cooker was awful and took around 30 minutes just to heat up! There's no food prep area either.

If you're a couple then you'll be frustrated by the two single beds. There's no shower curtains either so the floor gets very wet.

The only upside is the serenity at night and how close you are to the beach.

My/Our Holiday Review:

When arriving at the hotel, my first impression was that it looked inviting. As we were arriving by night, all the pool was lit up and the night life was still up and running.

Our rooms were basic, but very very clean. We were very pleased when we realised that the cleaners came every day and made your bed and also cleaned the floors. Clean towles were also given out regually.

We were very lucky to have got one of the rooms at the front of the hotel, these rooms also had aircon which cost an extra 10 euros a day. The veiw was excellent, you can see the pool and also a big horizon of sea and beach.

The brakfast at the hotel isnt the best, but i wouldnt say it was the worst. There are also meals that you can buy at the side of the pool for reasonable prices. The bar at the hotel has a wide range of drinks and snaks also. The people who worked behind the bar were very frindly, and made our stay even more enjoyable

To walk from the hotel to the beach was literally a ten minute walk if that. But be very careful as the only way to get down is to walk down a quite steep rocky path. But when you get down there, you realise it was worth it. Theres is miles of golden sands and clear seas.. which are also quite shallow making it easier for younger children to play in. There are also sun beds and umbrellas. (2 sunbeds 1 unberalla, 6 euros for the day)

About 5 minutes down the road (to your left) there is a excellent restaurant called 'Spiros on the beach'. Which serves a variety of traditional greek dishes. The food there is out of this world. Not only is the food excellent the prices are also. And they do sell gorgeous kebabs that are brill to get if you need a quick snack

Here is a tip, if you turn to your right at the hotel, you will find a large number of clubs and restaurants.. but the restaurants are more expensive.Where as if you turn to your left, you will not find as many bars and eating places, but the prices are considerably lower.

Other eating places we enjoyed were Zacks,Napoliens and malabu (wich is quite a walk but when you taste the food you'll be glad you made the effort)

Like i said, if you turn tp you right at the hotel you will find many pubs/clubs. My favorite was the oh lala a great place for young clubbers.. with the newest up to date music.

All the way through out the resort you will find many gift shops and supermarkets. Super market stella is one of the best supermarkets in the whole resort. The people who work there are incredibly friendly and you can buy just about anything you need there. One place i would not recomend to go to is hectors warehouse, as the people there are very ignorant, and they may make you leave your bag at the front desk as to reasure that nothing gets stolen. The service there is not with a smile. Also a lot of things bought there tend to be faulty.. and taking them back can cause a bit of trouble with the market manager.

All in all i would say that st george corfu is deffinatley one of the best places i have ever been. You should deffinately visit some time. I myslef am going back again this august.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We were located on the side of the hotel in the first week which was fine but basic but in the second week we asked to move to the front overlooking the pool and the sea - fantastic and after a hard days sunbathing, you can go and sit on the balcony and squeeze just a few more droplets out of that hot hot sunshine with a baileys and a packet of sour cheese pringles -- (heaven)I would suggest requesting a pool and sea view when you book. The rooms at the front of the hotel seemed to have been upgraded to the ones on the side and the maids were lovely, very friendly and they came in daily which we discovered was a bit of a rarety in other accommodation.

The breakfasts were absolutely awfull and we only managed the first morning before we bought 2 bowls and spoons from the supermarket and had cereals we would then wonder round to Mad Mikes (to the T - junction and turn right) for a cooked breakfast. The food at the snack bar was very good and I can`t thank enough the very lovely George and Akiss behind the bar for making our time there so special!! We ate there most lunch times.

The resort itself was quiet but very romantic and there are many restaurants along right on the sea front where you can watch the most fantastic sunsets! I would reccommend Panorama (peppered chicken was adorable) and the Balcony Restaurant had a great atmosphere where the waiters come and sing to you!

There are a few places to hire quads and bikes but I would definately go for George`s Bikes vertually in the middle of the main road into town. He is so friendly and takes great pleasure in riding up and down the road every day nodding and saying hello to everyone he meets. If you do get a bike go to the T - junction and head left towards Corfu Town. Messonghi has lots of shops and head towards the beach. The sea just looks like a big lake and it`s surrounded by mountains but make sure you take your camera as the views are breathtaking!!

All in all we had one of the best holidays we have ever had here. I have never met such friendly people!!!

Arrived at Golden Sands Hotel in the early hours of the morning, great friendly welcome from the staff. We had asked for 2 rooms with a connecting door to make things easier but unfortunately the hotel does not have any. Rooms basic but clean. Air-con is expensive at 10 euros a day, especially like us if there are 4 of you and are in 2 separate rooms, it would have cost us 280 euros for 2 weeks stay. We managed to cope without it up until the last 4 nights of our stay when it got unbearably hot. Not all rooms have air-con, so would recommend you request it when you book. Fridges were also available to hire at 5 euros a day which are well worth it.

Maid service excellent they came in every day and changed towels. Breakfast was not worth getting up for but snack-bar food was excellent and portions were good. We didn't have an evening meal in the hotel but heard very goods reports from people who had.

All the staff at the hotel were really friendly and I would recommend this hotel to anybody visiting St George.

Lovely sandy beech is just across the road and sea is very shallow so safe for kids. 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella cost 6 euros for the whole day.

Resort and hotel was surprisingly quiet but got a little busier the second week. Favourite eating places were Zaks (just next door to the hotel), Dimitris, Ananias and an Italian called Il Mare.

Went on 2 trips - Aqua Land well worth it, kids and adults loved it and a BBQ Boat Trip, good but the beach you go to on the trip is not a patch on St George Beach.

Golden Sun Reps were lovely, just a pity they didn't tell us about the 6 hr delay before we got to the airport to come home!!! Overall had a great relaxing holiday but felt that 10 days would have been long enough.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Even though we went with Golden sun and in fact were in the resort when they went into liquidation We had no complaints. The apartments were basic but fine, clean and well maintained. The resort was FANTASTIC,if your young it could be considered to quiet but there more than enough bars (lively and quiet)and we could not complain about any meals we ate, the one restaurant that was better than any of the others was the Ananias teverna (hotel) superb. Throughout the resort beer cost about £1.70 a pint and a meal for 2 was approx £18 including drink (sometimes cheaper).

We hired a quad bike(A MUST)from Mexas for £100, this was for a weeks hire and it was the best way to see most of Corfu,(from Kavos, which is an experience, to Paleokastritsa). Although getting up some of the mountains was sometimes a matter of prayer (next time it will be a moped).

The beaches were magnificent and went on for miles. Although beware, the quieter parts had some nude sun bathers (I did not know where to look!!).

We tried most of the bars, all great, but enjoyed the friendly staff and music in the easy buzy bar.

I cannot begin to tell you how much I worried about the holiday after reading some of the reviews, but I can honestly say we had a fantastic holiday and this included the apartments. For the amount that we paid for the holiday I could not understand the things that people complained about. (Not having two pillow cases, the swimming pool having a dead insect in it) can you belive it!!

Some of the Golden sun staff stayed on to sort out the problems (without pay) and were great. Although we had not heard of the airline (exelair) they were great (plenty of leg room).

I would not hesitate to not only go back to St.George but would also stay at the same apartments. My only complaint if you can call it that was that, I would have second thoughts about going in September as the weather is very changeable. BE WARNED WHEN IT RAINS IT RAINS!!.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We read the reviews on Helena Apts before we went and were therefore a little sceptical as what to expect. However we found that although the apartment was basic, it was clean and had everything we needed for a one week's stay (apart from towels!). Make sure you don't make the same mistake we did - Golden Sun holidays only provide you with one hand towel each, the bath towels you have to bring yourself.

The resort was nice and quiet, with good beaches. For us though, it was a little too quiet as we had hoped there would be a couple of lively-ish bars to keep us entertained, but the busiest bar we found only had around 20 people in there!

The food in St George was very nice and we would highly recommend "Demitri's" for the tzatziki and the "Balcony" for good Greek and English cheap grub.

The only warning we would make is do not book car hire or excursions through Golden Sun. We booked a jeep for one day for 65 Euros, but the next day we found the exact jeep for hire in the centre of St George for just 40 Euros.

We booked 2 excursions through Golden Sun, the day at the waterpark (30 Euros each)and the Paxos/Antipaxos boat trip (23 Euros each). First was the boat trip, which we got to 10 minutes early only to find that the boat was already full (like sardines!) and so we had to stay squeezed inside the whole journey to our first stop. After the first stop we got on the boat early to make sure we got a seat outside, only to have engine problems for over half an hour before setting off to our second stop. On the way to our second stop, a lady passed out from the heat (she couldn't escape it as the boat was too overcrowded). On working out the life jackets:passengers ratio it was clear that if the boat sank, so would would over half the passengers! Then on leaving the second stop, we were told our journey was going to be cut short by two hours and we would have to miss our third stop because of engine problems - so we were then stuck inside again for the 1 1/2 hour journey back to St George! We had a great time at the waterpark but the coach was 35 minutes late picking us up in the morning and an hour late collecting us from the waterpark. The rep made one phonecall and then hid from the annoyed crowd without telling us what was going on!

We did have a nice time apart from the excursions and if we could go again with a more reputable company, then we probably would (with lots of mosquito repellant!).

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

We got a late deal through teletext holidays for 7 nights at St George South. We read the reviews on this site and from these, we assumed it would be OK, but nothing special.

My partner and I have been to Corfu once before (Sidari), to Cyprus and to Rhodes.

Helena Apartments

We stayed in a self-catering apartment, with two twin beds.

On arrival at the Helena Apartments, a friendly lady, who actually owns and manages the apartments, greeted us. The apartments were very basic, even by Greek standards, but the sheets were clean and the pillow had substance. (We have had pillows in the past that may as well have been a sheet!)

We were a bit concerned when a sign states "2 Euros per day charge for sun beds." Don't worry; provided you buy a glass of water every day, no one bothers you. At 30 degrees, you will buy at least one ice cream a day from there.

The swimming pool was excellent. It is very deep for a 20m pool (goes from 1m to 3m deep) and was also well kept.

We, despite reports of poor food on this site, gave a breakfast a go. It was passable, however it did feel like the bread was deep fried, which was a bit wrong. It was OK value at 4 Euros for 2 eggs on 2 toast and orange juice.

On the whole, the accommodation was fine as a base, but do not expect a lot, not that you should with any Greek resort anyway.

St George South resort

The apartment is approx 10 minutes walk from the main resort and all of the roads in the resort are flat. This was a great result, after being 20 minutes out of town on an undulating road in Rhodes!

There are local supermarkets/shops within 5 minutes walk, that house of the required basics such as water; mossy repellent etc the main strip is either side of a main T-junction. To the right is where most of the restaurants and bars are.

There are two beaches, Golden Sands that is the 'better' beach, but it is a 15-20 minute walk form the main resort to the left of the T-junction, which is 25-30 minutes from the apartments! We spent our days at the beach to the right of the t-junction, a further 5 minutes walk.

It does get very blowy at the beach, which is great for keeping you cool in 30 degrees +, but if you feel the cold, take a cardigan just in case. 2 x sun bed and a parasol was only 5 euros per day which is pretty good value.

Eating Out

We can honestly say we did not have a bad meal in the resort itself and the quality of meat, whether it be chicken or beef, was phenomenal. You really will not go wrong with food here.

Breakfast

If you like an English breakfast, look no further than Sunset, which is half way down the main resort, and just past the Oh la La music bar. For 5 Euros you can have a standard English which is real English sausage x 2, egg, bacon, mushrooms, tomato and a cup of tea/coffee or orange juice.

If you have had a heavy one, a Jumbo breakfast has the above + extra sausage, extra egg and 2 x hash brown (which were not at all greasy and are probably the best has browns in the world)

The Bistrot

If you like classy, modern looking eateries, you MUST NOT miss the Bistrot. This restaurant is 20 yards left of the t-junction on the opposite side of the road.

The setting is fantastic, right on the sea and the décor is excellent. Food ranges from freshly cooked sea bream to mixed kebab and fillet steak. There is also veg menu. For dessert, you must also try the chocolate mousse, which is prepared by their Belgian chef (out of this world, we had it 3 times in 7 nights!)

The staff are exceptional, in particular Becky (call her Boo!) and Stephanie. Even the house wine was excellent and at 7 Euros for a litre, you really cannot fault it

For 2 people having main course and a dessert, plus 1 litre of house wine and a bottle of water, total cost was c37 Euros, which is really good value, particularly for the setting and décor.

DO NOT MISS IT!

Panaramoic

Average for 2 people based on the above is c 30-35 Euros. Food again is excellent, with Mexican Chicken and Chicken A La Crème being particular favourites.

Panaromic is opposite the local Golden Sun tourist office.

As we wanted a chilled week, we did not hire a car, but the most popular way of getting about appeared to be on quad bike, which was pretty cool. On the whole, we had an awesome holiday and would go back to this resort again, without any problems.

My/Our Holiday Review:

On arrival at the apratments the outside loks just as it does in the brochure, nice swimming pool, sun beds, pool snack bar etc.

Very disappointed with the standard of the inside of the apartments. I understand it is of a basic standard and have travelled to quite a few Greek islands, but this was not good enough. It was scruffy and tatty and old, tiling in kitchen arreas was chipped and loose and had just been painted over. We had a rusty old fridge, one chipped tea cup and one mug for the four of us to share for drinking out of ! The electrics blew when we arrived, the cooker hood had bare wires hanging out of the wall and we asked the owner how we plugged in the cooker rings and he stuck them in the socket with the bare wires from the cooker hood !

We had two bathrooms which were extremely meagre, manky old tiles with mildew on the shower tray, both toilets were leaking and had eclectricians tape wrapped round the pipes.

The towels we were issued for using for showering were about the size of a small hand towel, old faded blue towels with bleach marks all over them.( I have thrown better ones away )

Very disappointed considering we booked this holiday 8 months ago from the Golden Sun Brochure.

The resort itself is ok, quite small and spaced out so you must like walking or hire a car. If you have young children like us, safer with a car as there are very few pavements and yiou are walking along main roads with traffic.

I think maybew Gold sun should show a picture of the inside of the apartments in the brochure, or at least give a revdiw in the gazateer so that if you go into a travel agents you can read the true write up on the place.

all i can say is please do NOT stay at the HELENA APARTMENTS. Where do i start?

- broken toilet that was stinking of excrement

- no cold water

- grotty tiling and grate on bathroom floor green and manky

- on arrival, mosquito's all over the apartment

- ripped sheets, stained sheets.

basically the list will go on and on, you would'nt let your dog stay there!!!!

i have cut this holiday short and after £400 and two flights later i am home 4 days early!

i have travelled twice to greece and although apartments are very basic, this place was unbearable!!!!

just dont have the experience that me and my partner have had....

if you could see the photos we have taken you wouldn't go, BELEIVE ME!!! i am gutted....

the resort itself is o.k, there are really good places to eat and the night life was good....

good half an hour walk to the beach but on arrival it was good...

if you do go to St george RESORT you will probably have a good time but dont dont dont stay at these apartments.

I am seeking full compensation for all costs.. your probably wandering why i came home and why didn't e asked to be moved but there were two other couples who ahd already asked and they were'nt going anywhere!!!!

just beware!!!!

Glad that we had read the reviews on here prior to going as we went prepared for the basic accommodation by taking our own Bath towels etc.

The apartments are very basic but clean and of a similar standard to those we have stayed in previously, the owners wife is very friendly and works hard to keep the rooms up to their basic standards without any additional help.It is true however that the owner can appear grumpy when serving in the bar but smiles more if you keep spending. Not as bad as the reviews we have read previously and we had a pleasant and enjoyable stay.

Highly recommend the hire of a quad bike, we enjoyed a lovely day out driving through the hills and seeing unspoilt greek villages, stopping in a fishing village for sea food lunch(fresh fish)is a must.Lots of very good restaurants in the resort itself and would highly recommend Le Bistrot for excellent food and very friendly service.Flights were excellent with Excel airways on time both ways.

We would rate this one of our favourite places to visit and will return in the future but maybe find accomodation a bit closer to the magnificent sandy beach. Happy Holiday.

I wouldn't EVER travel with Golden sun again! On leaving the airport my flight was 14 hours delayed and coming home it was delayed 6 hours. The aeroplane was so old that you had to get into it up the tail which opened onto the tarmac! Very scarey and the electrics kept flicking on and off! On talking to the airport staff in Bristol they reported that this particular carrier (TRANSJET) had been delayed every day like this for the whole season! Beware off the unknown courier!!!!

On arriving at The apartment we were pleased as they were lovely. Very basic, but the furniture was all pine, clean sheets once a week and the maid cleaned every day. Plenty of hot water and nice views. The apartment had marble floors and was very well kept. The swimming pool was quite large and very clean. The only reservation I had with the apartments was the food at the pool bar was inedible!! Don't even bother. The Full english breakfast consisted off a hot dog sausage from a tin, some hard beans some very fatty streaky bacon and a rock hard egg! Grim!!

The resort itself is quite quiet. Lots of couples and families. The whole time we were there we only met two other people the same age as us and single!

If you want a relaxing holiday destination then this is the one to come to! Highly recommend the day trip to the greek islands Paxos and AntiPaxos, very nice!

When we booked this holiday and checked out these apartments I was worried I had made the wrong choice, how wrong was I. We stayed at these apartments from 5th to 19th Sept 2005 and did not want to leave.

Basil the owner is GEM. The pool is fantastic and spotless. The apartments though in need of new sink units etc. are also kept spotless by the wonderful maid Katerina who makes you laugh even when you have had to much of Basils Ouzo. He has wonderful gardens growing his own veg and he gave us some one night to make a greek salad. Beach is 2 minutes walk and plenty of restaurants nearby. His guests return each year to stay with him and I'm sure we will be back again.

God bless you Basil we loved avery minute of our holiday and will be back to see you again soon. PS he's not grumpy, just very proud of his apartments and does not want noisy drunks spoiling other peoples holidays.St George South is a lovely quiet resort so far unspoilt by the usual British lager louts. Long may it stay like that!!!!!

The Kamelia Studios are basic but spotless - only really used it for sleeping as spent most of the time eating out and by the pool/beach.

The owner Basil and his son Paul are magic and really made it enjoyable for us - nothing was too much trouble and thought was well priced.

The pool was very well maintained and clean. Beach was lovely with golden sand and clear waters.

The restaurants in the main strip are good and would recommend Zacks and the Balcony as the best.

Aqualand is a brill day out with plenty for all ages.

The only problem we had were with the mosquito's - recommend you buy a plug in, citrinela candle, and a descent spray and should leave you alone after that.

Overall had a wonderful time and would recommend St George and especially the Kamelia Studios to any couples or families - not really a lads holiday.

Having read other peoples comments about Kamelia Studios and the owner Basil we were a little apprehensive. We arrived at the rooms which although were basic, they were absolutely spotless. Most accomodation on the island is pretty basic anyway. During the week Basil and his son were brilliant - Basil treats his guests like they are family staying at his house. On top of this he was also very entertaining.

Someone else made a comment that drinks at his bar were twice the price as the rest of the resort, we found they were the same price if not cheaper and he will keep the bar open as long as someone is there buying drinks.

The Pool is amazing a very good size and also spotless and there was never a problem getting sunbeds which were also free of charge.

The resort is very nice loads of places to eat, but we found the best place was the balcony, which had very good food at a good price and the owners were very friendly. The Sunset bar was good for breakfast and does an amazin 'fry up'.

The beach is only a stone throw from the studios and is sandy with lots of watersports, but we preffered to stay by the pool.

All in all i would recomend anyone to stay at Kamelia Studios and visit St George.

This was our second visit to St George, but our first to Kamelia Studios. Our first impression,(when we arrived in the middle of the night),was that the rooms were very small.

As the holiday went on, the rooms didn't seem so bad. Very basic accomodation, but kept very clean by Katerina, who is very helpful. The owner seems a nice chap, but DON'T cross him. We had no problems with him, but one couple did,and paid the price. Great swimming pool and always sun beds available. There is a good little bar and it will stay open as long as you are buying.

All sounds ok to now, but here is the big downer for the holiday. Immediately opposite the Kamelia the local owner of of a house heeps two dogs. One , a yappy little thing that I never saw, and the other , a Rottweiller. Every night and ALL through the night, these two dogs were barking. We didn't get much sleep.

The resort of St.George is pretty quiet, and many people go back year after year. The best place to eat out we found was The Balcony. Dimitri and Kostas make you feel very welcome and treats everyone like a very close friend. The beaches are sandy and the water very clean. All in all, a good holiday and we will probably go back there. Lets hope someone shoots the dogs before we do!!!!!

Basil had made me welcome the year before while using his pool so we decided on the Kamelia Studios. Everything was as could be expected clean and Corfu basic. We had a mini heatwave to contend with but coped well. St George is a lovely place to stay friendly people and very safe. Fantastic people helpful, courteous and most go out if their way to help.

It was so good I am returning in September with my Daughter.

The apartments are small(barely big enough for 2 adults) and poorly maintained(especially the ground floor ones). In need of complete renovation. The furniture(beds etc) are old and need replacing. The kitchen area is about 3 foot by 4. Not even big enough to house the fridge. No bath towels provided. The golden sun brochure describes this property as well maintained and shows a picture of the outside of the property. Don't be fooled by this like we were. The only thing well maintained is the gardens.

Places to eat Zaks was excellent, Balcony, Panorama, and San carlos were all good. The spice garden was Ok.

If you want to rent a bike don't rent one from Georges as they will try to rip you off when you return the bike claiming damages like scratches that were already there.

My/Our Holiday Review:

After many years in the Balerics this was our first visit to Corfu and weren't sure what to expect as we found the Likithos Apartments online at a budget price.

On arrival we found that the Likithos was a relatively small complex as expected with only 33 apartments but clean with very pleasant surroundings and the pool / sunbeds were enough to accommodate all guests without overcrowding. Rooms were very spacious where ours overlooked the pool, the facilites were adequate except that there was no toaster in the kitchen for breakfast, only one toilet roll supplied in ten days !!!... must be a record as we normally buy 18 per week at Asda, also we found out that you cannot dispose of the waste roll down the toilet to prevent blockages which wasn't very healthy but we ignored this and bought our own.

However the Likithos has a nice poolside Bar (indoor & outdoor combined) with an attached dining area serving food until 11:00pm, English breakfast costing around ?4.50, snacks from ?2.50 (toasted sandwiches etc), the waiter service was good but sometimes subdued, however it wasn't peak time (September) where there was a more relaxed attitude, but this is the Greek way.

Paul who worked evenings (or I think his real name was Pavalos) behind the bar was very friendly and sociable and did his best to help. Reading previous reviews some found the Bar a little pricey, we agree at e4.50 per short & mixer. You also need to be aware that no eating or drinking of your own food around the pool or restaurant area is allowed which I found inconvenient as we were self catering, other than your room they expect you to eat and drink from the bar at all times.

St George South itself does not have many shops and geared mainly towards Bars & Restaurants at the north end of the resort where the beach was lovely. The best eating place we found was the 'Ananias' bar which is a recommended restaurant by major tour operators, the food and waiter service was excellent, unlike the Blue Sea restaurant where we waited 45 minutes to get served and when it came was only lukewarm.

Our tip is to hire a quad e20-25 per day and explore the surroundings. There are some breathtaking views around AGIOS GORDIS opposite Corfu town on the west side of the island and Chlomos at the top of a mountain near St George South. Fortunately I took my camcorder on holiday and captured the surrounding areas.

Overall a most enjoyable and relaxing holiday and would recommend the Likithos Apartments to couples and families wanting a peaceful break but slightly dissappointed with the resort due to lack of shops, hence a rating of 8/10.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Our holiday did not get of to the best of starts with a 3 hour delay but, after a pleasant 3 hour flight and 1 hour transfer, we finally arrived at the Likithos Apartments. Although, at first it appears that you are heading for the middle of nowhere, the apartments are less than 5 minutes walk to one of the many sandy beaches, bars, restaurants and supermarkets. Although flat, St George is quite widespread and so the main beach and resort centre are more like a 10 minute walk away.

The family run apartments are very well kept, with maid service every day, fresh towels twice a week (including toliet roll !!!) and fresh bedding once a week. The studio was a little on the small side and I have to agree with other opinions that storage and food preparation space is limited, but our room was clean and well equiped, and with the added bonus of the mosquito screen and shutter door, we were both able to sleep well, despite the noise from the bar down below. Fans, A/C and safe deposit boxes were also available.

The pool area and bar/restaurant were ideal for those who wanted a lazy holiday, although we found that the pool did get quite busy during the day and so we spent most of our time at the beach (still 6 Euro for 2 beds & umbrella). The owners and staff at the Likithos are all very friendly and always at hand with Debbie running the bar during the day and Tino during the evenings. Although not the cheapest for drink, the food is excellent and the odd evening's entertainment went down well. The bar also has SKY and 2 pool tables, plus table tennis.

A few favourites include the XL bar...cheap drink, free pool, good food during the day, The Blue Sea restaurant and the Balcony restaurant both offered good food at reasonable prices.

We both really enjoyed our time at the Likithos and we would consider returning, although Thomas Cook are pulling out of St George South and will not be there next year.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Just back from a wonderful two weeks in South St. George. The Likithos is in the South end of the resort ( quieter end )but set back some two hundred yards off the main road in a splendid peaceful location.

On arrival we were greeted by the owner and her family, and shown to our appartment on the third ( top ) floor.

The appartments are nice and clean, spacious and include air condition ( extra charge 50e per week ), t.v. fridge, kettle, and a hair dryer in bathroom.

The pool area is spacious and always had plenty of sunbeds, with newly built straw shades to hide from the sun.

The bar staff were excellent :-

Martin ( Big Czech Gentle Giant) did the day shift, was always very pleasant, and would come out to serve your drinks by the pool.

Alex ( Crazy Bad Greek Boy ) did the night shift, and kept everyone entertained, till the wee small hours.

They installed Sky T.V. recently, showing kids movies during the day, and your usual sports matches at night. Also have the odd Karaoke night which was a scream. Alex does a wicked version of Y.M.C.A.

I would really recommend these appartments, the family are always on hand, very friendly and the location is so quiet and peaceful.

The Resort :-

200 yds down the road and you are on the one main road the runs the length of the resort. There are 2 supermarkets and and excellent bar across the road, The XL Sports Bar. Beer 2e a pint, free pool, table tennis, board games etc. Also have a lovely patio that leads out on to the beach.

Turning too the left their is only a few bars and resturants, Cafe Sas, Barba Yannis and the Malibu all excellent though and well worth a visit.

Too the right past the Golden Sands, you come to the Annanais and the Blue Sea, both excellent. Next door is La Perla ( Chill Out zone ) a cavern with cushions and candles and a place to relax.

Next stop 50 yds further is the Blue Diamond Bar and opposite The Il Mare Italian Resturant, which backs on the the water and an ideal place to watch teh sun go down or the moon on the water. Excellent.

Another 100 yards on and you reach the main hub of the resort, The Amazona cocktail bar, Panorama, Balcony, and Zacks resturants.Stamatis, La Goudia and Easy Busy pubs offer quiz nights, karaoke etc.

Ooh La La's is the only disco in the resort and stays open 'till early morning.

All in all an excellent holiday, we all want to go back as soon as posible.

p.s. it is true about the loo roll, we got one roll per week. Buy a pack of four for 1.4 e, surely that will last !!!!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

After reading a report on here, I thought our holiday was going to be a complete disaster. I was pleasantly surprised!

We arrived at the Likithos Apartments at 6am. We were greeted by a nice lady who showed us to our room. Inside was very spacious and looked lovely and clean. There were two single beds in the main room, and in a separate room were another two. There was enough space to hang up some clothes and there were a set of drawers in the other room but I'd recommend squeezing in a few hangers if you like to hang everything up!

There is a fridge-freezer, two electric rings, and a kettle. Be careful when turning on the tap as occasionally we got a bit splashed!

We received maid service 4 times during our 7 night stay, which was okay. There is also air conditioning available for a fee of around 50 Euro's for the week, which I strongly recommend.

The outdoor swimming pool is absolutely lovely. There were no fights for sunbeds, and the pool was NEVER over-crowded. It's just the right temperature as well. There is a poolside bar which serves anything from snacks to a proper meal. The food is lovely - we ate there most lunchtimes and it's all at a really low price.

All the staff are very friendly and so are most of the other holiday makers. It is a pretty quiet area, but the local nightlife is only a five minute walk away.

The beach is lovely but the sand gets extremely hot! You can hire sunbeds for the day at about 6 Euros each.

All in all it's a quiet place, but it suited us just fine. There is plenty to do, but if you require more action then there are trips out and about which you can book via your rep. Talking of reps, ours was absolutely useless though apparently she was having some family trouble.

On our last evening we went on a trip to Corfu town, which was absolutely brilliant. LOADS of shops and restaurants - definitely something for everyone there. We were meant to be picked up by a coach but because the rep was so useless she ended up having to get a taxi for us. Other than that, there were no other problems.

Our favourite place to eat was the Pizzeria - beautiful food and very fast service. This was a ten minute walk from the Apartments.

Lots of mosquitoes especially in the evening so make sure you stock up on repellent. Also we recommend a Plug-In adaptor for things like straighteners, phone chargers, mozzie repellents etc etc. Please Note: A hairdryer was provided :)

The hottest day was 39 degrees, the coolest was 33. We had a brilliant time, and the only drawback was that there wasn't enough shops for my liking!

i have only done this review thing once before about another greek island it was a great review ,but this one i am afraid is quite the opposite---

i booked this holiday going by the reports and reviews on this site about the resort of st george,it sounded just the place for me,quite nice tavernas good beaches etc etc WOW!!!!! WRONG!!!!!! one street very very badly kept weeds everywhere unused pieces of land that lead to the beach covered with rubbish i.e bottles cans house hold rubbish etc etc vile, the beach itself at the end of the town smelly more rubbish everywhere wooden pallets and boxes shrewn all over the place, just not a very nice place to be.i have been going to greece and its islands for 16 years now no where else just greece i am very easy pleased i.e basic living conditions, toilet facilities etc etc just the tipical way things are in greece i love the place and the people but this is my second time in corfu, i stayed in achravi in the north the first time, quite nice but st george is the pits,my last time in corfu ever.its also geared for the english tourist, i am irish ---- but don't pick this up the wrong way ---corfu has just lost a lot of its culture because of the english tourist boom, just give me greek only and i am happy... after all thats where i am GREECE not BLACKPOOL!!!!!

The apartments where quite basic nice friendly owners nice pool its just that their town was a let down....

the resturants there where also terrible nothing fresh, tinned veg, stale bread, bland food nothing at all give the any greek feedback everything was with chips "local fresh dishes" stewing in pots all day,i know my greek food and this was not greek food your meal was brought to you and in one had they had your food in the other a tomato sauce bottle ?????enough said ...i could go on i am truly sorry if this offends any one but i feel it has to be said especially if someone was travelling to greece for the first time expecting truly greek....you will not get that here look elsewhere my friend....yassas....

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday from Lord Complex. We were quite aprehensive as what to expect as it was cheap and we thought it would be really quiet and boring.

Thankfully, this was not the case.

The pool area is fantastic and the pool bar food is delicious (bit pricey though). The room was a bit of a let down though, we had bed linen and towels changed only once and the shower was a nightmare. It wasn't too bad though the rest of the holiday made up for it.

The resort itself is beautiful, the beaches are also fantastic. There are watersports there if you want them.

We hired a quad for the week which was 25 euros a day. It was well worth it as the hotel is a little walk from the supermarket and in that heat it just made things easier. We hired them from George, you can get them alot cheaper from Golden Sand but you don't get insurance.

The nightlife was great for us as a couple. If i'd been there with my mates we could have got a little bored, although there is a nightcllub and the pubs at the bottom end are quite lively and stay open until 4. We went to a pub called The Retreat almost every night. They had a pub quiz at 10.30, then karaoke. It was really good and we enjoyed it. The drink was really cheap there. There was entertainment on at weekends in all the pubs: elvis, hypnotist, ozzy osbourne and fire eater to name a few.

Really relaxed place with friendly locals. Definately use insect repellent at night as you will get bitten otherwise.

Quite a nightmare journey from airport in heat but it wouldn't put me off it was a fab holiday

I went to St George and stayed at Palm Beach, the hotel was of a good standard for what we paid. The pool was fantastic, enough sun beds although not enough umbrellas (it was a heat wave when I was there and I definitely needed some shade) the free AirCon in the room was a bonus. The hotel as stated was right on the beach. The buffet dinner was not the best but I cant complain, me and the boyf did eat out a few nights.

The hotel is in the town centre, the resort is small with some nice restaurants and a few bars with cheesy acts and karaoke, there is one night club that is open till you want to stop drinking. I found all the locals very friendly. It was quiet when we were there but to be honest that was what we wanted.

I would recommend St George and Palm Beach for a nice relaxing holiday. Be careful when booking through Lastminutecom as this is not a package holiday and you have to book and pay for your own transfers, although I think they have now made this clear on the site as we got free transfers when I kicked off about this.

Welcoming hotel and good standard of accommodation. Staff very helpful and the hotel has become very busy and much improved since our first visit in Spring 2005. Local boat owner Kostas has trips to Paxos, Anti Paxos and Sivota weekly and they are a source of pleasure

to all who take a boat trip from St. George.

Car hire cheap in the area, lots of good quality restaurants to visit and the area generally is taking off with properties and businesses surfacing all the time.

Weather spectacular as usual and wonderful sunsets, no wonder everyone is taking note of St. George as the next major tourist attraction. Suits mature adults and there is presently a move to develop childrens activities

We shall be returning for a late Summer visit again this year and can highly recommend the blossoming resort of St. George.

My/Our Holiday Review:

My boyfriend and I were looking for a last minute deal for 2 weeks to get away for a lovely relaxing beach holiday. After religiously using this website when every other site named a hotel, or every rep over the phone quoted another place for us to stay, we would type in the name of the hotel and anxiously read the reviews on here in the hope they were good. Most of them werent. Palm Beach had mixed reviews and after spending a whole weekend searching, we gave our card details to the guy on the phone, with our fingers crossed. But i promised when I got home, I would let other people know what we made of it.

The resort itself, Saint George, is gorgeous, the hotel is situated metres from the lovely sandy beach and warm clear waters. A breeze from the sea cools you down during the day and for 6 euros you had a sun bed and umbrella for as long as you like. There were plenty of nice restaurants and cafes/bars minutes away, our favourite was Panorama, with amazing food, great service and beautiful views across the sea. All the restuarants were reasonably priced, people were friendly and cocktails cheap. It is a quiet resort, with plenty of places to eat and have evening drinks, and nearing the end of the week, pub quizs, hypnotists (brilliant night out but dont volunteer!!), Ozzy Osbourne tribute acts and Elvis soundalikes are ready to entertain you.

You can get a bus or cab into Kavos for 25 euros if you are looking for some night life, but Saint George also has 2 clubs and a couple of lively bars that stay open late. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday with nice places to eat and a few great nights out then this will really suit you.

The hotel itself was an hours drive from the airport,.we got the white van man which you will have read on other reviews! The hotel was large, cleaned every day with fresh towels delivered and excellent air con that worked and wasnt too noisy. One gripe was the walls are a bit thin, so if you like your lie ins be prepared for the sound of flip flops on the corridor outside your room at 9am! We also read that the food was horrible. We were there half board for 2 weeks and ate there most nights. Some evenings you did have to queue but not for long, the food was always hot, there was a good variety, it was tasty and plenty of it. If you are expecting 4 star service you wont get it. Waiters wont come to your table and attend to your every need, and you will pay £5 for half a bottle of wine, but we enjoyed it and the restaurant was packed every night.

All in all the hotel is not 4 star. But when you are in Greece it is so hot and the beaches are so beautiful that you wont be in your room for long at all. The rooms are clean and spacious with powerful showers and lovely balconies. The hotel is large with a massive warm swimming pool and lots of sunbeds.

If you are looking for a relaxing beach break, St George is for you. Its a beautiful little island with plenty to keep you amused and friendly locals. We both agreed that although we are not people to come back to the same place twice, we would come back here again.

As we read on another review, YOUR SUPPOSED TO BE ON HOLIDAY! enjoy yourself! relax! and Im sure youll have a fantastic time

My/Our Holiday Review:

Having read the write ups about Palm Beach we were a bit apprehensive, there seemed to be mixed reviews, but we decided we would go and make our own minds up about the place. We were very pleasantley relieved!

The hotel was great, the room was nicely furnished, very clean and spacious. Our sheets and towels were changed regularly and our room was cleaned every day. The restuarant was very nice, the staff were very friendly and efficient. For the amount of people they were catering for, the food could not be faulted, there was a good choice of both hot and cold food, even my seven year old daughter found something she liked each day! The pool was lovely, very clean, plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. St George is not a particularly big resort, but there are some nice bars and shops. The beach is clean and sandy, with a variety of water sports and activities.

If you want a quiet relaxing holiday, I would thouroughly recommend this hotel and resort, and I would definatley return.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We were let down by another tour company two days before this trip.THANK GOODNESS!!

Maria who greeted us on arrival, could not have been more helpful.

Our room was spacious, with fantastic air-con and a nice view.

The pool is great and as Sue and i ran at 0600 every morning, we saw it being thoroughly cleaned every day.

One of the highlights for our family, was the fantastic service we recieved from the staff, most notably, the two Spiros and mathaious who ran the pool bar. Thanks a million guys.

The food we found good, but then we are not your typical whinging brit family who want and expect all the dull boring rubbish we get in the uk.

The resort is great, compact, friendly and quiet.

John Lanasis, the Med Hotels rep was sublime, even running me to the village in his car to pick up a prescription. Thanks John.

Great trips.Go with Costas boat trips to paxos.Fab day out.

Rent a car and explore the island, dont let people fool you, Corfu is so much more than Kavos! b

Beatiful, with some of the friendliest people we have ever met.

We enjoyed St.George so much we are going back in 2005.

speak some Greek, eat Greek food, be nice to the people serving you!! after all, if you want everything British, dont go to Greece!!!!!!!!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

I have just returned from the most wonderful holiday experience, the resort of St George and the Palm Beach Hotel has been fantastic.

I went with my 13 year old son and my Mother who have enjoyed it as much as I have. I must say though, that I wanted to holiday in a family type resort with no banging loud music from noisy clubs, no lager louts staggering and vomiting in the streets, and that's exactly how it was. I loved it! We arrived to a warm greeting at reception and all our luggage and ourselves were taken by a nice old chap in his transit van to our room which was spacious and clean, flowers and herbs placed on the towels in the bathroom and although we had a garden view instead of the sea, we didn't mind as we didn't intend on spending a lot of time in there.

We all thought the food was great, lots of choice and me being a bit of a healthly eater, was very happy to be able to fill my plate every time with lots of veggies that were never overdone, lovely choice of salads and a great choice of main course, that always included local dishes, lots of fish! Always plenty of fresh fruit salad with lots of watermelon and grapes which we all loved. My Son loved the deserts especially and every night had a least 4 different puddings on his plate!! The pool was large, clean and busy but we never used it as we loved the beach just yards away, clean warm water, fishes swimming around your feet and golden soft sand, water sports and a very amusing old guy selling his 'sexy doughnuts' all day long up and downt the beach in his captains hat! The staff were very helpful and kind, went out of their way to talk and be friendly, mind you, it did help that my mother speaks fluent Greek, having lived in Greece for a number of years, but I made an effort to greet the staff and order drinks in Greek which they took as a huge compliment.

We enjoyed the entertainment in the beach bar, the live music, it was actually one of the waiters doubling up as a musician at night, singing and playing his mandolin. The dancing was good, the Greek girls made my Son's holiday especially when they did the bellydancing! He said they were the 'hottest chicks he had seen'!! We really enjoyed Kosta's boat trip to Paxos and Antipaxos where there was turquoise water so clean and clear where we stayed an hour for swimming. Make sure you take an extra towel and something warm on that trip though as on the way back we went so fast and the water was a bit choppy the sea spray soaked us almost all the way back!

The village was quiet with some very good restaurants, We had a great meal at the Palladium and a lot of fun in the tavernas and bars, very nice local people and wherever we went we felt very safe. corfu town itself was most enjoyable, the narrow winding little streets and venitian architechture was beautiful with a breathtaking little church in the centre. The only 'niggle' if you can call it that was that the walls of our room in the hotel were very thin and the couple next door to us were so noisy, coming back in the early hours being very loud banging doors and playing music then doing what couples do very loudly!!!!!!! someone else must have had the same problem though as shortly after, notices went up about people being considerate late at night and keeping down noise, we didn't hear anything after that.

All in all, my family and me had a wonderful time and I would definitely stay at the Palm Beach holel again. Actually, the sooner the better!!

Very Wary after some of the comments from previous reviews, however on arrival at Palm Beach (YES luggage taken by old transit) but only a short walk to our appartment, excellent accomodation very spacious and CLEAN.

We had the 2nd sitting for dinner at approx 8'o clock and again if you are fussy and impatient you would not like having to queue for around 5 mins but a good choice of food and as much as you can eat, sounds good to me...Staff very friendly and work their socks off to make you comfortable.Pool superb Loads of sunbeds but maybe more unbrellas needed when the temperatures at this time are around 90+.Nice Beach right on your doorstep, small resort but all that you need for entertainment My two teenage girls enjoyed every minute and they are hard to please...

I would rate this as a 3+ star in corfu and if you take note of my comments you will have a great time and not regret your booking HAPPY HOLIDAYS...

My/Our Holiday Review:

This is a 3* tops! Its advertised at a 4*plus and if you go believing this you'll be as disappointed as we were.

The resort is basic and worn out. A taxi from the airport costs 40Euros not 30 as recommended by travel bargains. Theres no porter service or torlley to borrow at the resort so you have to drag your suitcases for up to 20 minutes in the heat to your room.

The pool is very nice, and it is close to the beach but that was the only plus. We were woken up every morning from 7.00am onwards by slamming doors, and shouting people in flip flops. You go to sleep to the sound of people in their rooms which you can hear everything through the ventilation system.

We were half board and after two days ate out in St George as the hotel buffet food was abismal. We asked on our first day if we could be transferred and were told it was one of the best on the Island! I accept Greece is basic but its still definitely misleading to advertise this as a 4*plus.

There are masses of mosquitos - literally blankets of them all over walls and ceilings. They did fix the door lock, and TV in 24 hrs but you can only watch BBC News despite them advertising satellite TV. If you want to drink pints of lager and all you can eat cheap cholestoral food in the sun then this is the place for you.

We asked if there were any typical Greek night type restaurants in town and were told "Its not really big enough for that!". The balcony was good to eat and Panorama. The locals are very friendly.

We rented a car for one day and saw the rest of the Island - Sidori is very nice geographically but theres loads of cheap tatooed, 40 a day, english breakfast and larger lout type places. There is lots of space for evening entertainment but only one guy with a guitar showed up with 2 people watching. Night time was dead. There are better places to go for your money - even if it is a lastminute "bargain"!

We are easy going and can go with the flow but do not recommend this hotel.

My/Our Holiday Review:

This is our second visit to palm beach in 2 years, nothing had changed.

The accomodation is ok, the air conditioning works, rooms are cleaned daily. That the good points.

the food was as bad this year as two years ago, so they have clearly not listened to people, who were complaining of this two years ago, and is all on the web sites how bad the food is and no chips for the children. We had to walk with our cases from reception which is 15 minutes in the heat. The pool bar was very expensive and had very sleezy bar men who put you of drinking there.

the only reason we retuned to St Georges was for the Water skining on the beach which was excellant. The people who ran it were very friendly and helpful. And we did alot of water sports because of them.

The hotel is probably the best in St Georges but as we paid £2600. for a family of four. It was a very expensive holiday as we just had to eat out alot. Not only was the food cold and uninviting but if you eat at 8.00 the second sitting, you had to queue to the door which took about 15 minutes and it felt like butlins!!

The beaches were lovely there and it is a very quiet resort nice food at The Balcony and San Carlos.

My/Our Holiday Review:

This was the first time we had been to Corfu and we would definately go back again. We were a bit worried about the accomodation having read some of the reviews on this website but we both thought the standard was excellent. The rooms were lovely and there was no problem with not having a pool or sea view as we only actually slept in the room anyway. The pool was beautiful and we were always able to get a sunbed. The reason the pool was closed at 6.30 was so cleaning could take place. Be careful if its windy as the sun umbrellas will blow over and they are very heavy. Also, we noticed quite a few wasps. Infact i was stung by one and had an allergic reaction resulting in a trip to the medical centre in the village. The doctor spoke excellent English and was very helpful.

The hotel is right next to the beach and the watersports facilities are excellent. We would thoroughly recommend parasailing and if you like an adrenalin rush the 'doughnuts' and 'banana bed'.

The food in the hotel was good and there was always plenty of choice. We didnt understand why people make such a fuss. The food wasnt always really hot but what do people expect when such a large amount of people have to eat? We never had to queue for dinner and we also went to different sittings. You didnt necessarily have to go to the one you were allocated on arrival.

We would have liked to have gone on some of the trips but with only staying a week we just didnt have time.

However we did go to aqualand which was fantastic! We thought it was better than the Universal and Disney water parks. We booked with one of the tour operators in the village and if we were to go again we would probably hire a car as it would be cheaper and quicker to get there.

We also spent a day in Corfu Town which was lovely. If you venture down some of the little cobbled streets you will find lots of nice little shops.

All in all we had a lovely holiday and the only downside was that we stayed for one week instead of two!

My/Our Holiday Review:

Our Holiday was booked via Lastminute.com.TravelBargains were the apointed agent using Med Hotels..

The holiday was booked via the internet and was a late deal. The Palm beach hotel was shown as 4 star superior.

On arrival at Corfu airport there was no med hotel rep to meet and greet.Myself and my wife had to literally stumble to a local travel agency who were conducting the airport transfer. Their desk was manned by staff who spoke little or no english.Eventually after much confusion (which you dont need at 0300 am) we were led to an awaiting coach with other happy inmates. We had been told by Travelbargains that all transfers were by taxi as a coach was not available. They charged £78 for this privelege. The local travel agency at the airport stated that there were no taxi transfers.Refund due !! Be aware if you are booking a similar holiday.

On arrival at the Palm beach and at 0600 am we were greeted at the reception by one solitary male member of staff who spoke little english. After our group was duly processed by this male our luggage was thrown into a battered old white transit van. We were then instructed to walk to the other end of the complex whilst he followed in the transit van and much to our amazement( and disgust) took a short cut away from our group. We then had to somehow find our way to the other side of the complex to meet him !! He seemed to view this as highly amusing ?!.

Our bags were then dumped outside the restaurant and then we had to find or own way to our room using a flimsy map we had been given.

Immediately i saw a large st george flag draped accross a balcony emblazoned "West London".It became suddenly apparent what the clientele base that was to be !

The rooms at the Palm beach are clean and functional. There is air conditioning and a small fridge. Satellite tv in the room is a waste of time. You get bbc world and cnn only together with german speaking television.

The food is absolutely appalling. There are two sittings. The early sitting is for families and the later sitting for others. However myself and my wife were literally told to attend the early sitting as we would not get seats for the later one ? The food is obviously warmed up and left on a large servery. You got such delights as beef in lemon sauce(?) etc.The look of shock on fellow inmates faces told its own story. They even managed to ruin the salads which is no mean feat.

The clientele at the hotel ? ..Unfortunately good old british stock ...

I do not exaggerate when i state that standard attire was an ankle/calf tattoo , earrings and a football shirt. The obligatory half smoked lambert and butler was in hand.Cigarette butts litter the complex. If you wanted any sort of sophistication , forget it

The palm beach is no 4 star superior. This a a myth.2 star at most. The complex is clearly way past its best and is beginning to look shoddy. The pool area is funtional and it has to be said infrequently cleaned. The poolside bar is poor. The prices are extortionate eg .. fishfinger and chips priced at approx £4 sterling !!

The resort itself is a little tacky .. The usual supermarkets , gift shops , english bars and tavernas. Lots of groups of young single kids on the drunken prowl. If you wish something classier , avoid st georges south !!

one final note ...

if you are going home on a night flight you will not get chance to reserve or keep your room. Myself and my wife were kicked out of our room at 1200 midday and we had to wait around until 0200 the following morning for ur transfer to the airport. staff are totally unsympathetic and would not provide a room even though a number of rooms were clearly available. A shower room was available but you had to book a half hour slot. The shower room itself was dirty and flooded.

Why do we allow ourselves to be treated this way ..

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!

My/Our Holiday Review:

OK, it's not "4 star", but there is little wrong if you're prepared to relax, go with the flow and actually try and enjoy yourself!

The facts are, as with most things in life, you get out of it what you but in to it... If you're polite to the staff then they are more than willing to help and be friendly, if you don't like the food then go to a restaurant (which are only 5 minutes away, you can have your choice of food, from Greek, to English right through to Indian and Chinese - and the most expensive meal we could find was e12, about £8.50!!! ).

If you can't get a sun bed by the pool go to the beach, it's not as if it's far away, it's at least a two minute stroll! We had no problems getting sun beds all week by the way. The pool was always clean and tidy ( if you get up early enough you'll see the whole area cleaned thoroughly daily.).

The room was very comfortable, everything you could want, clean, spacious, air conditioned, serviced every day and there's even a fridge. Try turning it up to maximum (No 5) and opening the cupboard door. Following these simple tips will ensure that the fridge supplies you with cold beer, coke, water or whatever you fancy during your stay!!! Our room has a "garden view", which was a bit misleading because we could had a good sea view! The balcony provided an excellent view of the sea and beach, providing us with evening sunshine and an un-obscured view of the very picturesque sun-set. lovely.

We were there the second week of September, no monster queues for food, not very busy at all really, no screaming kids by the pool, excellent weather..

If you prefer a quieter dinner go for the later sitting, you do have to insist on this during the check-in, we were given the earlier slot but took other advice and changed it there and then.

So if you're off on you holidays to the Palm Beach Hotel, hopefully the above will give you a few tips that will enhance your stay, but more than anything just relax and do try to enjoy yourselves, it's not that hard to do, you are on holiday you know!!!!!

When we arrived at the hotel we were quite amazed at the size of the complex. We were taken by transit van to our room. We had paid extra for a sea-view room but did not get this.We actually got what was supposed to be a garden view!!!Not a very nice garden). After complaining they would not give us a room with a sea-view.

The Beach at St George was okay. But not one of the best. We would recommend the Kostas Boat-Trips which are reasonably priced for a day trip. We went to Paxos and Anti-Paxos . Lovely experience.

We also rented a speed-boat for the day which was good fun.And did some fishing and snorkelling.

The resort of St-George was okay. There were a few supermarkets and a couple of souvenir shops and a small harbour. We had a nice meal in the only chinese restaurent there.

The Hotel. Well quite dissapointing . Certainly not 4Star. More 2or 3 star at the most. The food was unappetising and cold most of the time. Not really much of a selection. BIg queues in the morning and only 1 toaster operating. We ate out 2 nights whilst there.

THe swimming pool was nice but didn't look very clean. Enertainment was practically non-existent. Greek music 1 or 2 nights which didn't seem very good. Only a handful of people at the bar listening to it.

THe room itself was okay but there was a constant smell of sewage in the bathroom coming from the drain. 2 Queen size beds in our room and the air-conditioning worked fine.

The billiard room was 2 euros for half an hour!! It was riddled with mosquitoes . They were everywhere even all over the table.

The highlight of our holiday was the boat trip that we did and the trip to Corfu Old Town- Well worth it.

But as for the hotel, for the money we paid it was expensive.I would not recommend the hotel or the resort!!

It was our first time in Greece and has probably put us off ever going back.

There are a few good features that I haven't noticed being mentioned: there is free table tennis and tennis (bring your own equipment),the hotel borders a big nature reserve (lake and sand dunes), and a pot of tea and/or coffee is brought straight to your table at breakfast.

Otherwise, we agreed with the general comments: the rooms are spacious, the air conditioning works well, cleaning and staff are OK, food reasonable, and having one noisier pool and one quiet one works well. The hotel could easily be much improved by opening the swimming pool later than 6, and extending the second sitting for dinner - at present you cannot go in till 8 and service is only till 9, so the queues are unavoidable. I can see the merit of their policy of all Greek food, but something for teenagers who prefer pizza/chips would be a good idea.

The resort has a beautiful beach, lots of water sports, some quiet bars/restaurants overlooking the sea, a couple of bars running English pirate films and pub quizzes, and one or two discos, but is virtually free of drunken British people. Car hire is easily available, but if you intend to drive yourself to the hotel from the airport, you will need directions on finding the hotel car park.

It's a good choice for a family holiday, but would probably not suit you if you like a lively hotel atmosphere and clubbing.

My/Our Holiday Review:

This is very poor quality hotel in a very typically "British abroad" resort. If you expect quality take no notice of the 4+ tag; it is only worth 2* in our opinion.

The food is quite awful, the rooms are grubby and the staff appear to believe they are running a corrective institution for potential offenders.

You will be required to eat at either 6pm if you have children or 8pm if you do not.

Upon exit from the restaurant you will be monitored, just in case you attempt to 'steal' that elusive bread roll.

Even though the sun might shine after 8pm you will be required to leave the pool side by 6pm; the sun umbrellas will be taken away and, if you jump back in the pool after this time the attendent will threaten to call reception who "might" call the police.

If it is windy they will take the unbrellas away anyway and will leave you to burn.

The whole resort might have been OK when first built but it has gone downhill since, basically due to lack of essential maintenance and proper care.

We went with my wife's son and his girlfriend who have only been on one holiday previously; this place and this hotel has put them off package holidays forever.

Why do we British put up with such rubbish when we go abroad? (probably because a bit of sun cures all evil!)

just coming back from this hotel. It is not a four star by any means.

The rooms are adequate, beds are more than adequate. The two pools are briilaint and could get sunbeds up to about 10.30.The staff at the pool bar are very friendly and would have a good time with everyone.

However i do not rate this as a four star as we dont like being treated as if back at school, in the restarant. You are sh9own where you can sit or should i say pointed to where they wanted you to sit. Then it was everyone for themselves. The lines for the food we ridiculous, this could have been resolved with another food station. Having said that it was not worth the standing in line for very, very bland. Repeat not a four star. Breakfast was not as bad not english bacon more like fried ham and the same each day but still o.k. So we had breakfast and ate out at night.

The resort is small but has plenty of bars and restaurants went for ameal promonade it was gorgeous. There are bars for entertainment such as kareoke. quiz nights. films, disco the usual stuff and they stayed open untill when ever. would recommend kostas boat trips lovely days out.

Would we go again corfu yes, this resort yes. that hotel no.Until it gets its act together.

There were a lot of other guests who like us, were very disappointed with the quality of the food at the hotel. It certainly was NOT 4.5* Superior but thankfully there is approx. a mile long stretch along the beach front which is full of great bars and restaurants. The hotel accommodation is fine with quite large rooms with efficient air conditioning. The pool area is large with plenty of sunbeds (although dirty) and that's in peak season. There is also an amphitheatre which is not used - bit disappointing as it is a great location.

We had a great holiday but I wouldn't book half board here unless you are prepared to eat the sort of food we were given back in the 70s/80s in Spanish hotels. You would be better off booking the self-catering part of the hotel and enjoy the nearby restaurants. The beach and sea are lovely with water sports available although a little pricey e.g. 38 Euros for 15 mins jet skiing. Good trips to other islands are on offer as well as an evening at a typical Greek taverna with Greek dancing and music and of course Corfu Town for shopping.

I don't know if I'd return to Corfu - the wait to collect your luggage at the airport (1 1/2 to 2 hours!) and to check in on your return journey (3 hours queueing!) has put me off!

The accomodation is spacious even 3 sharing a room, you should ensure that you book a sea view (even though this is a side view) as you will get a room overlooking the pool (we were in block 6000). Despite others comments the room is kept clean and the maids are all very helpful.

Air conditioning worked well, the TV only had 4 channels and those only for some of the stay. Everything else is extra - you have to pay for the fridge and the safe deposit box. There is no where to dry your clothes, towels or swimming gear so if you have to recycle your clothing during your stay you need to invest in a line and pegs. The complex (including the Plaza) is enormous epect a 15 minute walk to reception, you luggage is transported by transit van as mentioned by others but you must ask (several other guests were left to man handle it themselves). Reception is manned by a single person even when coach loads are expected from the airport so you must WAIT in line to be served.

The pool is excellent plenty of space for all the kids and never became too crowded with plenty of sun beds (although you do have to get up early if you want the best positions). I never saw people dissappointed. Pool is cleaned regularly and automatically dosed (which is why another reviewer never saw it being tested). The beach bar is friendly but high prices for drinks and food - it just dpends on how much you want to pay for convienience.

This brings me onto the food - if I was being charitable I would have to say it was dreadfull - to call it school canteen fodder is doing all those hard working school cooks a great dis-service. You need to budget to eat out in the village for most of your stay. If you can eat this two days in a row then you must have no taste buds left and a total inability to discriminate between good and bad.

On a particular note my daughter has a nut allergy - the food is not properly labelled (even mis-labelled) and even after this was brought to the attention of the hotel and resturant management no action was taken and the staff were particularly unhelpful. Then comes the sittings for the evening meal the first is 6:00 to 7:30 the second 8:00 to 9:00, you are allocated this on arrival and beware you if you want to change - this is the province of all those who want to exercise power but only got to be a resturant worker. Try and get this changed when you book in, because try as we may we were often late for the first sitting after a day by the pool, on the beach or god forbid out on a trip.

This also brings me onto the stupid idea of closing the pool at approx 6:30 - the day is not over and some may wish to linger a little as the pool naturally quietens down.

The beach - generally very good but you do need to walk a little to get away from the dirty highly used areas. This part of the beach is not blue flag as there is a sewage outlet from the hotel directly onto the beach and it is not cleaned so you need to miss the fag ends. The rest of the beach is lovely and a pleasure to use, especially if you want to walk towards the dunes and the lake. There are pleanty of activities on the beach jet ski, bannana boat, parasailing, boat hire but they are not obtrusive.

Trips - highly reccomended are Kostas boat trips to The Blue Lagoon and to Paxos and Antipaxos, we even saw dolphins - excellent value and a chance to swin in the blue lagoon itself. Also shopping trips to Corfu Town (kept the wife happy) and we were extremely lucky to see the olympic flame. Aqualand - if you have kids not to be missed. Glass bottomed boat - you really do see fish.

The resort - just a single strip with a collection of tavernas, supermarkets and bars. Highly reccomended is San Carlos the food is out of this world as you sit along side the beach as the sun goes down. Very friendly staff - I am so glad that the food was so bad at the hotel that we were FORCED to eat here on may occasions. A little pricey (commared to some of the other resturants) but you get what you pay for. Also Seagulls. Bars are noisy with large screen TV's and unfortunately this looks to be the direction the resort is heading so in a few years you won't be able to distinguish it from Kavos. Supermarkets just sell trashy trinkets so if you want to take something home to remember your trip you are best adised going into Corfu Town.

Argo - can't fault the service and the local rep George was excellent.

If you have got this far - in summary

Accomadation - 3* just

Hotel facilities - pool excellent (4*) the rest - well I'm still looking

Hotel food - can you have 0*

Beach - 3* (4* if you walk a bit)

Resort - 2* and going down

San Carlos - 4*

My/Our Holiday Review:

Our Family love Corfu and this is by far the most luxurious accomodation we have ever experienced on the Island.

True, by English or even Spanish standards, this is not a 4 Star+ Hotel. But by Corfu standards it is great. The air conditioning works well and is a God send (and its free). The rooms are spacious and clean and the beds comfortable. The accomodation is the best we have experienced on Corfu and is a fraction of the price of somewhere like the Dassia Chandris Hotel.

The food is a matter of opinion. We loved it because, with 2 teenage boys, they were able to pick and choose a variety of stuff from the buffet and just go back again if they didn't like it. It is great value for money and the variety is good (they rotated the menu over 2 weeks, so we did not have the same combinations throughout our whole stay). Contrary to other views, the food was always hot, but we did always get there as soon as the sitting opened. The only thing that I didn't like was that they insisted that Adult men wore long trousers to dinner. If you like hot buffet type service you will not be disappointed. If you don't like buffet style, then simply eat out.

The pool is large and great for the kids. There are lots of free sun loungers and umbrellas, but when the complex is full these run short. Still, the beach is literally on the complex's doorstep. The pool snack
