My/Our Holiday Review:

The weather was beautiful, the beach is clean, peaceful and places to eat at hand. The owners of our appartments very helpful and kindly as were all the people we met there. The quietest part at the other end of the long road Agirades area.

The village of Agirades authentic and worth a walk (steep but mostly shady-through the olive groves). The fish restaurant on corner over-rated and disappointing.Spiros on the beach - lovely food-best white house wine we'd had and beautiful location.Fantastic well-priced food cooked as you wait.Adriane appartments clean well positioned and people return there time and again.Boat trip to Pxos good as always. No nightlife other than restaurants , perfect. George supermarket handy but Stella's is best (as are the people there).

Best restaurants Spiros on the Beach, The Balcony,Sabastiens.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Have just spent a pleasant week in this resort, it is described as ideal for families and I would agree with that.

The Alexander beach hotel staff are friendly and helpful as was our resort rep. The rooms could do with a bit of updating but were clean and sufficient for the amount of time you spend in them. The pool area is great with lots of lilos supplied for guest use, the pool bar has a reasonable menu and is not overpriced.

The nearest restaurant is The Bluebell which is owned by George and does a great breakfast! We didnt eat there in the evening but I imagine the food would be just as good for dinner. The golden heart taverna is another good restaurant as is the Ana nais, we found the Blue sea overpriced and the owners were having an argument whilst we tried to eat which was a bit off putting but overall it is a great resort and I would return next year.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Alexadros Beach Hotel/Studios was described to me as a 'family run busines' and likened to 'Faulty Towers'. What we actually got was a hotel 'run' by an english family of sunbathers. there was never anyone on reception, the rooms were not cleaned frequently enough and during our second week the towels were not changed at all! the sheets on our beds were changed once in teo weeks! the owner sat around the pool screaming, shouting and swearing at her daughters who dominated the pool and made us feel quite uncomforatble. if you wanted any service of anykind you had to 'disturb' one of the sunbathers!

The room was described as a self catering studio. It was the smallest room i have ever stayed in. the 'kitchen area' was actually a sink stuck behind the door with a kettle, a tiny electric hob that didnt even look clean and crockery and cutlery that all looked as if it had seen better days! The room was like a sauna! the upstaires floor of the hotel had no windows or air ventialltion of any kind and was thus unbearable. there was no option of air con. we were told we could hire a fan and attempted to reserve one three times. every time we went to collect it they told us they didnt have any - cleary their system of scribbling a note on a scrap of paper wasnt effective - hardly surprisisng.

However, the Blue Diamond Hotel which is only a five minute walk away was very nice and you culd use their pool and sun loungers for free. this actually was a nice family run business and the whole set up was much nicer and more picutresque.

i would only recommend st. george for families as it is very quiet and ther is not enough entertainment in the evening. i had been told by several people that st. george is the nicest part of corfu. having visited rhoda a few years ago, i would totally disagree with this statement! the locals are not particulalry welcoming...and they wonder why the number of tourists is diminishing each year!!!

We had an extrmemely unpleasant experience at a restaurant called 'Il mare pizzeria' and i would strongly adive you not to go there! (if you are standing outside blue diamond hotel it is accross the road, to your left). Here, the owners threatened to call the police because we refused to pay for a meal that was stone cold, had been sent back twice and had in the end been sent back untouched! They made us wait there for three hours and were shockingly rude to us! As it turned out they had never called the police but were trying to frighten us into paying! Eventually when they realised we werent going to give in, they agreed to take the meal of the bill but suddenly the origianl bill had gone up and was now written in greek so that we couldnt see what was on it. eventually our rep came down to sort it out but we had to wait outside for him. the owners didnt want us to wait outside and four members of staff (3 men) came hurling towards us, shouting in our faces and threatening us! when our rep tuned up, the staff tried to find out where we were staying. this made me feel very unsettled for the whole holiday so be warned - dont go there!!!

We also had an interesting meal at 'Blue sea'. Here we ordred a cheese burger for 5 euros which was frozen in the middle. the waitress very ungraciously took 2 eors off the bill even though the meal was, again, untouched. you will notice though, that eveyone speaks perfect english until you need to complain and suddenly they dont speak it quite so well!

The best resaurant is 'San Carlos' and is only a few euros more per meal than some of the cheaper ones so it worth going there. plus t is set right on the beach so is very pretty. you can get a good breakfast for about 4 euros at 'Splendid grill room restaurant' and the guy there is quite friendly (if you go there a few times, he gives you free drinks!)

If you do go to st. george, stay at the blue diamond and eat in 'san carlos'!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

just spent 2 weeks at st george south staying at the ananias apts & studios, and had a fantastic holiday. unfortunately the ananias studios are in DESPERATE need of a face lift which is a pity because the complex itself was fine, decent size pool and a good pool bar open all day and a great restaurant which was always busy.

st george south is a lovely relaxing resort basicly one street with a beach at either end,we favoured the "lakkeiss" beach because it was so peaceful.

at night if you want to listen to kareoke or do a pop quiz you can. if you want entertainment ie:fire eaters hypnotist, illusionist or elvis impersonators you will be catered for. if you want a nice quiet bar you will find one or if you want to sit in a lovely taverna and enjoy a great meal overlooking the sea you have come to the right place. every taverna we tried was lovely but the "balcony" was our favourite.

st george south is fantastic,we will definetly go back but not to the ananias unless it has a COMPLETE OVERHAUL.

My/Our Holiday Review:

It was our first time to Corfu and we found St.Georges to be an excellent resort. Its not as typically English as other resorts such as Sidari and has more authentic Greek Tavernas. The Blue Sea bar was our haunting as it is across the road from the hotel and Peta and Costas were very friendly and the manager Clare was also very nice.

There are many lovely places to eat out and for those missing home. Lagoudia is a nice English bar.

The resort had plenty to keep us occupied for the 2 weeks and was in a good location to explore the Island. Driving is a bit scary, although there is only 1 main road in Corfu, there are no markings and its a bit scary but well worth it.

The hotel was very lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room itself could have done with a bit of TLC.

All in all a very very good holiday and would recommend the resort and apartments to anyone. We are even thinking about going back next year.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Just arrived back from another holiday in St George. We stayed at these apartments in June so decided to return again for another week. Luckily we got the owners telephone number and decided to book privately and its a good job we did as the holiday company that use these rooms went bust 4 days before we went.

The apartment are very nice, a little old and in need of refurbishment but very spacious and clean indeed. Hey its Greece what do you expect. The weather was lovely 6 days out of the 7 and we just missed the storms they'd had a couple of days before we arrived thankfully. We ate out at our favourite places which were the Ananias restaurant, Balcony and Blue Sea. Never had a bad meal at any of these yet. After our meal we went to Easy Busy, Lagoudia, Los Amigos and Stamatis for the pop quiz.

We had a fab time in all the bars but Lagoudia and Stamatis were the best. Staff very friendly and they did their best to keep our 4 year old son entertained. The only thing we didnt like was the 19 hour delay we got on the way home but we did get put up in a 5* hotel and looked after very well. Started looking for flights to return to this resort next year but next time its gonna have to be for 3 weeks as we love this resort so much

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

It was our first time in Corfu, and we absolutely loved it.

The Accomodation was great, very nice rooms, kept very clean and regularly checked. Yannis and his sister Kiki, who seemed to be the main people in the family who ran the place were incredably friendly (you will normally find them down running the pool bar in the daytime - lovely pool with an amazing view of the sea!). Our rep - Veronica was very helpful, although we couldnt help but feel a little sorry for her as Golden Sun seem to be quite disorganised, but she seemed to handle them and us very well! As far as the resort went, its a lovely place where everybody is SO friendly! The greeks are much nicer people than the Spanish!!!

There are loads of places to eat - so we'd say look around and try it all (if you have time!) We had particularly good meals at Stamatis, Balcony, and (this is the only place to go for fish as it is all caught that day!) - Kafesas. Other than that we spent most of our time in the Stamatis Bar, where we found the staff to be the friendliest, and the atmosphere the most fun - it seemed to be the only bar with a lot of people in it every night, mmost other bars only have about 10/20 people in them. If you go you must go and try the nightly Pop Quiz, we were hooked - Very cheesey DJ! Also they had a pool table and an air hockey table so our son Tom was very happy!

Other things we suggest you do when there, they have Watersports on the beach with a cheeky english guy encourageing you to try - did parasailing for the first time - great! Also (if you dare as the roads are a bit suspect) hire a car or some bikes and go out and see some of the rest of the island! Definately worth it - some amazing views.

All in all a great holiday - we will definately be going back next year.

we have been to st georges sth three years running and every year we have the same expectations,we stay at the ananias apts each time and find the family to be the most friendly of people, who are there all the time to help and assist.

The apts admittedly do tend to be a little behind the times ,but then you get what you pay for as for cleanliness the ladies who do the cleaning are there regulaly, cleaning all areas throughout the appt's.for eating out you have a street full of of restaurants, where you can get whatever meal you want, be it greek specials. english.chinese.indian. also you have all the little tavernas where you can sing or dance till early hours. the views around the coastline and surrounding are to die for.myself and wife have decided to return again in june this year(2005)but have booked the appt's direct,as the tour opperator (golden sun )has ceased trading,

the friendliness of the the ressidents of corfu make up for any small problems you might have over your stay, just li back and enjoy

My/Our Holiday Review:

The Andrianna (or Adrianne) apartments in St George South are very nice. They are probably best suited to those seeking a quiet and tranquil setting. All the rooms overlook the lovely garden. The rooms are very clean, the bathroom is well appointed (very small shower cubicle but adequate).

The beds are the usual hard mattresses but probably the best I've encountered over the years - the duvets, sheets and towels are all good quality. The kitchen comes with a kettle, toaster, mini oven and the usual 2 rings. The owners - Andrianne and Spiros - provide washing up liquid, washing up sponge, tea towels and a mosquito plug-in with one tablet. The rooms are cleaned every day except Sunday and the sheets and towels are changed twice a week. There is a TV which gets BBC World and some films in English on another channel.

Any drawbacks? The studios at the top have very small balconies but the rooms are quite large. Most (but not all) of the others have shared balconies as did ours - we had a 2-bedroomed apt on the ground floor and it was a bit strange to share the balcony although we all had our own areas. Also, not many of the rooms get the sun first thing in the morning, it is mostly early to mid afternoon before the sun reaches some of the balconies.

There is no air conditioning but you can ask Andrianna for a fan at no extra cost.

They are at the end of the resort up a small road and it can take 20 to 30 minutes to walk to the centre of the resort. There are however plenty of tavernas, restaurants and supermarkets within 5 minutes walk from the apartments.

The owners also own the sunbed, pedalo, and jet ski concession on the beach which is just at the end of the small road. 2 sunbeds and umbrella will cost ?6 a day to those staying at the apartments instead of ?7 (although I believe they are just ?6 further up the beach anyway). The beach is sandy and you can get away from the sunbeds and find your own spot further along.

We would also recommend Georges rent a car - we found they gave an excellent service and their rates were good.

I understand a lot of people go back to these apartments which does not surprise me.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Our 3rd visit to St George South but our first to these apartments. Flight excellent and on time - airport efficient and got luggage out quite quickly! The transfer to resort was excellent as we went straight there instead of visiting every other resort on the island first.

The apartments were excellent - spotlessly clean (cleaned most days) with fresh towels and bedding. There was a T.V (not used) a kettle, toaster, mini oven, sufficient crockery, a decent bathroom with raised tiles around the shower and a shower curtain! We stayed on the top floor in a beautiful studio which had a very high wooden lined ceiling so it was fairly cool considering the heat outside, the only very minor negative was that the balcony was tiny and the only curtains were nets which let in too much daylight early in the morning.

However, the positives outweighed the negatives by miles - I would stay and would recommend anyone else to stay in these apartments. The attention to detail was concluded by there being washing up liquid, a washing up sponge and teatowels provided along with a plug in mosquito repellant with 2 tabs supplied by Andrianna. We were already armed with plug ins having stayed in St George before, which was just as well as the mosquito's seem to be out in force this year.

The apartments (for those of you who know St George) were set just up the (Argyrades) road from the fish restaurant (Kafe Sas) which has it's good moments and some rather bizarre ones! (Watch the shellfish salad - 1 lettuce leaf and a plate full of un-identifiable shellfish, out of shells drowning in olive oil and garlic - very tasty but not expected!) As always, Barba Yannis (turn left at Kafe Sas and go up the hill) provided excellent breakfast/lunches and very large measures of whatever spirit took your fancy in the evening with Jimmy providing entertainment behind the bar! Spiro's provided the best Gyros and spit roast chicken ever tasted, to our surprise the Chinese restaurant was better than we thought it would be (but a long walk to the other end of the resort). There are lots of restaurants to try but we were a little disappointed at the amount of 'Sunday roasts' appearing around the resort.

We hired a jeep for 3 days from George's cars (next to George's bikes) and because it was so quiet we managed to get a good discount - we paid less for 3 days than a friend paid for a week in a small hyundai. We went around the island a couple of times and stopped at a bay near Paleocastritsa (the name escapes me now- but it is just to the south) and went snorkelling which was great - lots of colourful fish and even an octopus.

St George was extremely quiet this time - in fact we were rather disappointed the first week as it was virtually deserted but this was down to the demise of Golden Sun last year and we heard rumours that other travel agents were interested in the properties that were now available for next year. The 2nd week was livelier without being crowded - it never is anyway!

The only thing I have to say against Thomson Holidays as a tour operater was that we had to leave our bags outside the morning we were leaving to pick them up later in the day at the Blue Diamond studios - 3/4 way up the resort (they were taken up by van) and they really could have arranged a pick up point nearer the apartments.

However - we had a great time and although we will probably give it a miss next year - we will definitely go back again, certainly to St George and probably to Andrianna's apartments.

The Adrianna apartments are superbly located in a quiet area with lovely gardens and very close to a lovely clean beach where the owner hires you sunbeds and jet skis, she is very friendly and busy!!

The apartment was very clean and tidy and had nice touches lke washing up liquid and a Tea Towel provided. There was even a TV!

The only downside was the shared balcony for me, very small and limited privacy and if you can't get on with the neighbours it could cause a problem.

Ag Georges was very quiet in June, and that was lovely!! The tavernas were fantastic, great price, great food in all of them, some with lovely views of the sea and sunset.

The beach at the other end of resort was quiet and long and easy to access and of course the sea was clean and a joy to cool off in.

Took the bus to Corfu Town, e2.40. It is a must for the beautiful Venitian and French and British architecture. Be prepared to hang on for the journey back, it gets very busy!

A very freindly and relaxed resort, bliss!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

The only person I would recommend these appts to is my worst enemy. These are the worst appartments we've ever stayed in. Have stayed on mainland Greece before so knew we had to expect basic and don't mind. These appts though are extremely squalid. Very dirty. One couple who arrived on the same day we did had to book themselves into another appt for an extra £20 per day - the reason was that when they unfolded their bed sheets they found they were heavily blood-stained, the rep simply told them that it was marks from the washing-line! In contrast we were lucky - our sheets were merely ripped and torn.

Our toilet wasn't cleaned once during our 2 week stay. As for the bathroom generally - instead of a lidded pedal bin for the toilet paper we had an open topped wastepaper basket and this was emptied only 3 times per week - the tiled walls and bathroom door were covered in filth and the appartment generally filthy. Found an English guy who works for the owner and found out that they are a very rich family - owning appts, shops, tavernas, supermarkets, bars and land all over Corfu - so no excuse for the state of the accommodation.

The resort itself is fine. Best bar we found for relaxing, though not cheap, was Almeras - a little past Stamatis Bar. Best food was the Seagull.

If you have any sense avoid these appartments.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We have just returned from the Anna Studios and can honestly say that it is the worst accomodation we have stayed in in 32 years of foreign travel. We were on the ground floor - small, damp, dingy, ill-equipped and bug-infested. The shared terrace is also the passageway for other people entering or leaving so it it totally unprivate. We were right under the roof drain so when it rained and it did rain, the water can pouring off the roof right outside our window.

The towels were only changed when when we left them outsde the door as a protest and we were only allowed one toilet roll a week - the finished roll was pointed left on the dispenser. Every time you have a shower the bathroom (sorry shower room -no bath) the floor was sopping wet as the shower curtain does not fit properly so you had to swab out. There was a foot and a half of damp up the walls and afew inches down from upstairs. Very little noise from the bars but early season yet.

Having said that St Georges South is great, great beaches, nice people, fairly quiet but still plenty to do. lots of resonable places to eat. Prices 2004 expensive (compared with say Majorca) take more pocket money than you think you need - a meal out two course and half litre of wine about 30euros: beer about 3euros a litre.

Well we cannot praise how much of a great time we had at St George again, even if the end was iffy due to Golden Sun going belly up.

Apt's are typically greek but immaculate, cleaned every day, even coming at 8pm so not to wake you up. Set behind the main street about 10 mins walk we even had greek families near by. The only negative I can give the place is the rooster near by who wakes at 4am.Remember ther is no pool at the apt's.

St George had not changed in the 4 years we have been away, but it was a touch quiet, which wont suit everyone, but suited us down to the ground.

Best food, go to Zac's, Dimitrius and Nick looked after us again, just as they did the last time.

Breakfast, well you need to go to the Sunset, great brekkie and fantastic views over the beech.

Best Pool and place most welcome, Nikos bar, with Basil and Paul looking after us every day of the week, and most of the nights. It must be good if every rep in St George spent there days off there.

Best trip out, Captain Costas trip to Paxos and AntiPaxos, stopping for brekkie, then the caves and the blue lagoon, then lunch before heading off back to St George, stopping to watch the dolphins.

We hired a quad bike and went out to Chlomos, forun a fantastic bar, the down to benitses and St Nicolas before heading home, and it was fantastic.

When we go back, and it will probably be next year, i wouldnt change a thing, how many apts do you stay in where the owner turns up on your last day and gives you a bottle of ouzo as a leaving prezzie.

Bazil and Paul gave us a bottle of Metaxa as a leaving prezzie, just for spending time in their bar and pool, I just love the Greeks.

There yo have it, great resort, great Apt's, great bars and great friends, St George,Thank You and see you next year, but not with Golden Sun.

Firstly the good stuff, St George's South is beautiful. Nice an flat, with about a 1.5 mile strip of shops, taverna's and fantastic restaurants.

There is an ace place called George's Bikes to hire mopeds and quad bikes from so you can explore the olive groves and go up the mountain if you are feeling brave. Ask for Yanni possibly the friendliest person in the entire resort.

The Blue Diamond fell way beneath our expectations and we holiday in Greece a lot. The place is very nice outside, lovely pool. We got room 3, and self catering my foot !!! No work surface, all the cutlery and crockery smelt foisty, the bottom of the kettle was melted so would not stand up straight, the chopping board was black and even IF you dared to try and prepare food (the fridge is conveniently situated in the bedroom) there was no where to eat it as the balcony was so overgrown the mozzies would have had you for dessert.

Oh and they charge 6 Euros per day for Air Con, which is fine if you expecting this charge !!

As a resort fab, the hotel big let down, I would try Lords instead.

Happy Holidays !

Just back from 2 weeks here. These studios have a great location in the resort - back from the "main" costal road by a swimming pools length and about 5 mins walk from the hustle and bustle of the resort centre. St Georges South is a long strip along the coast about 1.5 miles. To the north is the main cluster of Tavernas, bars etc. and these spread along this main strip all the way to the end with gaps in between. The resort faces South West and there are spectacular sunsets to be had from the many bars and tavernas along the strip.

The Greek food here is among the best I have ever had in my many trips to Greece - especially the Balcony, Panorama and TATA Tavernas. You'll be hard pushed to be disappointed - but can't vouch for any of the English type establishments. The bars all seem to have large screen Tvs but if you want some peace you can always drink in a Taverna.

It was quiet in the first 2 weeks of September - the one nightclub was already shut but there were enough people to make people watching interesting! Most of the resort guests seem to be English or Czech with a few Germans mixed in. It's a great location to explore the south of the island with a hire car. We rented one through Thomson Holidays - more expensive but the local places looked a bit basic.

The studios themselves are basic but very clean and pleasant. The room cleaning is excellent and every day apart from Sundays. Be warned there are a lot of mosquitos due to the inland marsh bordered by the sand dunes.

The beaches are really good- the entire length of the resort has many sandy beaches and at the resort centre there is a huge expanse of sand dunes - no problem finding somewhere to sit especially if you buy an umbrella for 6 Euro and sit on your towel. The sea is exeptionally clear and warm when we went.

Overall a great place for a chill out especially if you like Greek food. I liked Corfu and would go back - and it's only 2h 45 min from the UK.

Excellent spotless well managed accomodation.

Although typically "greek scruffy" in places, this small resort is well furbished with bars and restaurants, a good beach and is very quiet (early season).

Excellent range of restaurants from crepes to Chinese etc, the Panorama and some of the smaller "old style" Greek Tavernas provided superb food, great value and service second to none.

The Blue Diamond apartments are clean, friendly, modern and very well run.

Debbie the pool bar girl was very helpful and friendly and Dimitri the owner was very much the same.

Highly recommended for a short break particularly at the beginning and end of the season when it's very quiet.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We enjoyed our trip to St George very much, the studios were really nice and clean, the pool looked like the nicest pool along the main strip where most of the entertainment can be found.

The rooms themselves are very small and i certainly wouldn't reccommend them for people who actaully want a self catering holiday - we were fine because our intention was to eat out every night.

The resort is nice but quite quiet, there isn't much lively entertainment which is fine for one week but if yu are staying for two weeks then i would definately reccommend a trip into Kavos one evening - is a lot of fun and breaks things up a bit.

Al Pacino's bar is one of the best places to go in the evening - the waiters are lovely and really good to chat to, cocktails are very good value for money. The onyl bad experience we had was at Il Mare Italian - we had a cold main meal whHRC we didn't eat and therefore didn't intend to pay for but were told if we didn't pay for it then they would call the police - I would seriously stay clear! Very aggressive and rude staff.

Other than that the holiday was lovely and the local wildlife of cats and dogs became like regulars to the beach and hotels! I would reccommend St George for a very quiet relaxing break but not for those who like to do a lot of exploring as the public transport is non-existant. The Kostas boat trip to paxos & anti paxos is nice for shopping (much cheaper than theos)- take lots of spending money the shops on the islands are really nice! Definately go to Aqua Land, is loads of fun, makes you feel like you're 5 again - altho don't be fooled the slide are quite scary!

Really good holiday, very relaxing, I think if I were to go again I would only want to stay at the blue diamond again as it is the nicest looking and really well situated.

My/Our Holiday Review:

This resort is an exellent place to take a holiday.

As we booked this holiday last minute we were not sure what to expect, but we were not disapionted. The resort of St George South has many bars and restuarants, that cater for all tastes.

My boyfriend and I although being quite young, tend to try and stay away from resorts such as Kavos, and Falaraki, and this is an ideal base for a quite relaxing holiday. There are a variety of different eataries, even a chinese and Italian if you thats what you fancy! The tavernas themselves are all resonably priced still far cheaper than England. There are a variety of cocktails bars that have very extensive menus, but be carefull as the greek measures are far larger than England! My favourite of the cocktail bars was Stamatis, the only bar to used crushed ice simply devine!!!

The beach is simply fantastic in the resort, one of the best in corfu. The warter is very clear and is shallow quite far out, ideal for children. There are a selection of bars and tavernas that are on the sea front, and have fantastic views, and magnificant sunsets. The best spots on the beach are towards the sand dunes, and you can hire pedeloes or do a variety of watersports here. The sunbeds are quite cheap, ?5 for the whole day for 2 beds umberella, and table, this is one of the cheapest we have ever seen in Greece.

The Blue Diamond Studios are in an exellent location, just a 5 minute wall to bars and tavernas. The are also a number of supermarkets, the best being to the left of the Studios, called Warehouse. The owners of this supermarket are very friendly, and always greet you with a warm smile. The Studios are set in beautiful gardens, and have a lovely pool and bar. The pool is never busy and is extremely clean and well maintained.

The rooms are quite new, and are well equipt for greek accomadation (an oven!!). The only advice I would give is to take a fan, we found it a lifesaver as at this time of year the rooms get very hot at night(you can hire fans from the pool bar). I also advise to take a mosquito plug in as they are rife in this part of corfu. The studios are cleaned every day, but beware the maids seemed to be getting earlier and earlier!! The check out time for rooms is 12, but you can keep the rooms till 6 for only e20, if you had a later flight.

As we were only there for a week the only trip we took was to Corfu town. As we have been to Corfu before we knew this was well worth the visit as it is a lovely town. It takes about 40 minutes from St George, but upon arrival you will see its overwhelming beauty. The town is great for shopping, with lovely cobbled streets containing numerous little shops. My advice would be to go at night or evening as the harbour and streets light up, and they seem to come alive at night, plus it is very hot in the daytime!

This was a fantastic holiday, and the resort certainly caters for all ages. The Blue Diamond studios are an ideal setting for a perfect holiday!!!!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

Blue Diamond, was clean but basic, as we moved the twin beds together they were not changed until we separted them, so be warned.

Cooking facilities were very basic, and if you do want to eat in the rooms, you must eat on the balcony as there is no dining area.

We never used the pool, but it looked very clean. The pool bar was good, but a bit more expensive than others.

We ate at several restaurants, never had a bad meal, but best ones are Balcony, Panorama and Malibu. A traditional Greek taverna at the end of the road, turning left out of blue diamond, but before malibu, was especially nice, including the retsina, but cannot remember the name. But be warned, the pavement lighting was not on when we were there.

Shopping trip to corfu town on thursday night with cosmos, was spoilt by fact that we were so worried incase we missed the return bus that we didnt get to see much of the town. But town was dark and very busy.

Went to Albania with Thompson, not to be advised if you have difficulty walking as the trip to the archeological site includes a tramp around a village including some high steps and was difficult underfoot.

Also the toilet facilities once you leave the town to go to the archeological site are non existent, and whilst lunch is included in the price, we did not eat until 4.00 pm, so take a packed lunch if you intend to go, as it is a long day.

Basic studios, fairly new, quite small but comfortable, very clean, lovely garden area with excellent swimming pool, all new sunbeds and parasols(free)could get a bed at any time of day at this time of year.Nice pool bar.location was excellent, near bars and restaurants without being noisy.

Beaches were lovely,2 sunbeds and parasol 6 euros, safe and clear waters,we preferred the quieter side just past the little church.Plenty of choice in restaurants,we liked The Balcony and Panarama, both good service and very reasonably priced. Not a big resort, mainly one long road, but still enough bars and restaurants for us.Weather was perfect.

Worth hiring car.

Would definately recommend Blue Diamond studios,we had ground floor studio which was fine not an insect in sight, but we could have put a special request on our booking form and would have preferred 1st floor studio as they had better views, particularly the ones facing the pool.

Had lovely holiday,and definately return.

At first we were a bit worried about what our accomodation was going to be like, as we looked at others, praying the rep wasnt going to call our name out for some of them and not sure what to think of this place as we got there in the dark.

The next morning we were very relieved!! The rooms were clean and well maintained, the hotel, pool and bar area were brilliant and the sea was not too far away. Nightlife was good as you were able to walk for 20 minutes to a small area of about 8 bars, with some showing films on dvd that hadnt been released yet!!

There are many things to do, such as go on cruises, the beach, shopping and get a quad bike and travel (dont run over your helmet though)!!

We met some great people on holiday, some of which we still keep contact with. We all had a good laugh together, like when there was a storm and we were in pitch black, sharing each others food and talking in a candle-lit bar and getting a few beers down!!

We would love to go there again sometime, but we still have the rest of the world to explore. We booked this holiday 2 weeks in advance from bargin holidays alot cheaper than everyone else...which they loved!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

We could find very little information about this Accomodation before our holiday,so I had a few concerns about it,and the looks on our faces and on other travellers faces as we made our way to the resort and saw some of the places that people were being dropped off at were a picture,I had visions of being back on the next flight home.

Brouskos Studios is a lovely place to stay,There are 3 floors and we were on the top one overlooking the pool,we were on the end of the building so we had a side and a front balcony, the views from there were so lovely,as one of the other guests had said to us,it is like being in the countryside but having a beach 5 minutes away. The pool area was always kept clean, and plenty of sunloungers. The food at the pool bar was lovely,we had our Breakfast there nearly everyday, and Irenee really looks after everybody, the whole Family are lovely friendly people. The room was basic, but it was bright and airy.

The restaurants we liked were,The Balcony,Sebastians,The Village,Zaks,Ananais we went to a few times, and when we didnt have breakfast at our place we had it there,it was lovely and very friendly,DO NOT EAT AT SEAGULLS,I ordered Mixed Souvlaki,I was told that the meat would be Beef and Chicken, when it arrived the chicken was raw inside,it was pink, shiny raw meat, the outside was cooked,I didnt want to cause a fuss so I quietly asked the waiter to change it,he was so apologetic about it,25 minutes later, after my partner had eaten his meal they brought mine back to me,it was still pink inside, the beef was so tough you couldnt even cut it,and the chips had been the ones that had been on the first plate and been refried they were like crisps,it was disgusting, the poor waiter didnt know what to say,but it wasnt his fault,I said to my partner, just get the bill and go,so I gave them the whole meal back again and they brought the bill, full of apologies, and the cheeky things charged us for the meal that couldnt be eaten,so be warned,it is a lovely Restaurant to look at,but as they say looks arent everything.

Other than that, the Resort is very laid back, relaxing, the people are very friendly, and we met some really nice people,Would we go back again, yes we would, but not for a while and thats only because there are other parts of Greece that we would like to visit, would we go back to Brouskos,Definitely we would, and we would go back to the best room 303 and see Irennee and her family again.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Had a lovely relaxing holiday here and would definately go back.

Brouskos studios were absolutely spotless. Typically greek so very basic with your usual standard beds, wardrobe, fridge and 2ring hob but if you go on holiday to spend time in your apartments then theres something wrong. They were cleaned every day and although our apartment had a missing shower cubicle door this was our only grumble.

The pool was spotless and you never had to fight for a sunbed no matter what time of day. We usually had breakfast and lunch there and the owner Irenee was very friendly and efficient.

Brouskos is at the quiet end of town so there was never any noise but it did mean a 15min walk to the other end of st george every night.

However we found this gave us the chance to try loads of different tavernas and see what was on at each of the bars each night so well worth the stroll.

The weather was fantastic, always had a cooling breeze during the day so you never felt too hot and didnt need any fans or air con at night, perfect.

It only rained for about 1 hour one morning and I mean rained which unfortunately we were out in but then it cleared up for another sunny day which allowed us to dry off.

St George is lovely not a lot of shops but plenty of supermarkets, Stellas was the best, Esperados overinflated prices so avoid, lots of tavernas and bars, we didn't really find one that we absolutely loved but theres plenty of choice i'd recommend Zaks (especially for the cheese pies), Sebastains, San Carlos, the Italian closest to Brouskos - never tried the yellow and blue Italian but thats probably just as nice too.

Evergreen cafe was bliss - many a lunch or night time frappe or chocolate crepe - lovely. They do loads of different types of coffees and sarnies, crepes etc so spolit for choice.

Best Bars are Laqouidas, Stamatis for the pub quiz we were hooked, Easy Busy and ReetTreat Bar. All of these except Stamatis showed the latest movies throughout the day and early evening also with the usually karokee, quizes and Elvis and Kylie on once a week!!!

Spiros on the beach did the best gyros for lunch and very cheap wish we'd tried it for an evening meal now.

Mexas Bikes do good deals for quads, mopeds, we took a quad for a day and went exploring lots of fun though can be hair raising on the roads!!

Corfu Town was the only excursion we did by night too, which was lovely though we struggled for getting gifts for everyone back home, I guess if you want jewellary, leather and pottery then youll be ok. Next time would try the bus to Corfu town and explore it a bit more.

Would suggest for those wanting a more lively (clubbing) holiday then go to Kavos or Sidari - youd be very disappointed if you came to St George.

There is one club now though in St George called Oh La Laa's which had a very pretentious barrier and 'Beautiful' greek doormen or (man and woman actually).

Next door to this is AlPacino Bar which was lively too.

The chinese had shut down when we went but from reading all the other reviews on here we didnt miss anything.

Overall had a brilliant holiday and if you want somewhere to go for rest and relaxation with enough choice for a decent nightlife with no loud clubbing and puking, drunk gangs of girls and boys then this is the place for you.

Ideal for couples and familys we will definatley be going back in the future and you could do a lot worse than stay at Brouskos - they have a private apartment that they rent out too which is above the pool bar so we will probably rent this out next time now we know how to get there.

Last thing on corfu aiport we did have to queue outside for twenty minutes going back but there were no delays either in coming or going - in fact when we got here our luggage was pretty much the first off, unlike the hour wait at manchester airport to get the luggage off the plane - last thing you want at six in the morning - nice one manchester!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

Booked this holiday last minute through teletext so not sure what to expect. Got to St George in the early hours of the morning and thought we'd been dropped off in the middle of nowhere.

When morning came we soon realised that we had the best of both worlds. Two minutes down the road was a supermarket and then a further 5 minutes down the road was the main stretch where there was a large variety of restaurants and shops. There are no loud nightclubs in this resort but there are a large number of pubs which have large screen tv's showing all the latest movies. There is an internet cafe where you can play snooker, pool and a variety of board games (all free), as well as having a cool drink and having a snack there at the same time.

The apartments themselves were really clean although fairly basic. The swimming pool was really clean and there were a large number of sunbeds and inflatable toys for use. The poolside bar is run by Renee and god forbid anyone who comes near the pool with sand on their feet!!! There is an excellent fish restaurant in town called Kapses which is a must for all fish lovers. Its on the corner of the main road in town and the road which runs up to the apartment.

All in all had a great holiday, the weather was fab and will definitely be returning.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We had a lovely quiet holiday in Corfu at the Corfu Plaza Apartments. Our first weeks weather was a bit up and down quite alot of cloudy wet days but as it was the end of May I suppose only to be expected. The 2nd Week (well into June) was fab very nice hot and sunny. Though plagued with Mosquitos (with nasty bites!).

APARTMENT

The apartment was spacious two bedrooms a small kitchen dinner (with extra sofa bed) with a lovely large balcony. The bathroom could of been better a rather naf shower but just about usable. You have to put a deposit down for the Air Con controllers and also for a toaster. The kitchen was ok equipped but nothing special. But we quite like the making most of basic while away! We had swallows nesting on the balcony which the kids loved watching we even saw the babies.

Thomson Holidays

The kids loved playing the games around the pool the hotel and resort were unbelievably quiet everywhere empty infact it seemed the whole of Corfu itself was very quiet. The evening entertainment also was very quiet but the kids joined in with the mini disco etc and still loved it! Kris and Charlie were fab and kept going no matter what! Well done you two!!!

RESORT

Lovely beaches, fab restaurants especially our fav Cuckoos Nest Alex and Syros make a mean curry, greek meze, etc and its all home made! We also liked the Panorama Restaurant. Tried lots of Greek food. Most of the supermarkets in the village were cheaper than the one in the complex. It was very quiet but that suited us fine!

OUT AND ABOUT

The water park with kids is a must there were only 10 of us in it on the day we went but the kids still enjoyed it! Corfu Town is also a must cobbled streets great ambience. Forget Kavos! Unless you like streets lined with pubs and bars.

Oh Car Hire is very cheap in the village.

OTHER INFO

Hotels drinks double compared to village we took our own round pool etc and made rolls for lunch as food didnt look very appealing.

Fire flies are fab in May also lots of frogs around! Great to look at! Saw one snake! A small brown one!

We loved it so much we are going again during the last week of the summer hols! Roll on then!!

My/Our Holiday Review:

Due to delays, we didn't arrive at the hotel until after midnight, but first impressions were good. Our apartment was great, lots of room and plenty of storage space. Kitchen was a bit basic, but we ate out every night so no problem for us. Maid service good, except they kept forgetting to leave enough towels. The size of the pool was amazing, but very deep in places, so watch the kids! The major downside of the pool is that the floor is really sharp (apparantly it's a non -slip coating) if you are spending any amount of time in there, or joining in the pool activities WEAR SHOES! My feet were really sore and my husband and kids feet were cut and bleeding! All of the other family's had the same problem and some wouldn't take part in the pool games - too painful.

Pool bar very expensive, even for kids ice creams and the food mediocre. The whole place was very quiet, which sometimes made the evening entertainment and games a bit tricky, as there was only one or two families to join in! That said, Kris and Charlie worked their socks off trying to keep it all going. They are both new to the job and deserve a big pat on the back, they made it great fun for the kids and got pushed in the pool on a daily basis.

We ate out every night and our favourite was the San Carlos, but the Balcony and Oceana were great too! The Balcony was great for the kids and the puds always come with a sparkler and a rendition of 'Happy Birthday' which my 6 year old thought was fab. Most of the time we ate Greek food, but if you want good pizza, then the Oceana is the place to go. San Carlos is great for Greek and I can recommend the local red wine - just not too much! We had an amazing fish mezze for two at The Cuckoos Nest, bit pricey but well worth it! We found Teddy and Bessies supermarket to be the best one and the owners were lovely.

Overall we had a good but not great time, and one week would definitely have been enough.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We've just come back from a stay at the Corfu Plaza. The accommodation itself is quite dated and really could do with updating. On two evenings out of our week we had no hot water but this was soon resolved. One tip - if you need to phone reception dial 9 - we couldn't find that information anywhere so whenever we needed them we ended up traipsing over the site which is quite large.

Drinks at the hotel bar were so expensive, far more than the bars and restaurants in the resort itself. A lot of people were buying alcohol in the shops and sneakily topping up rather than buying from the bar.

In the literature in the hotel room they say that the hotel supermaket was the cheapest in the resort, which we found not to be true. They were more expensive for everything we checked. The big supermarket in the resort centre was very good and reasonably priced.

I've never been on one of these family type holidays and wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. The entertainment was of a good quality and Chris and Charlie work extremely hard to bring a good programme of entertainment. Crazy Chris was possibly the most enthusiastic person I've ever met! The kids clubs are also good. The activities are good and change constantly so I don't think a child would ever repeat an activity even on a two week stay. We needed to use the reps and I can't praise them enough, they were so helpful.

The resort itself is quite pleasant, if a bit tatty. There's quite a good selection of restaurants. Our favourite by a long way was the Balcony. The owner and waiters couldn't do enough for us and were very nice. Their prices were very reasonable too.

Overall I would definately recommend this holiday.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Well how do i start, if you are taking the time to read this review then you will have read my review from last year. It was so good last year that we decided to come back this year.

Let me start with the negative points first. The hotel rooms are spacious but are more like a 2 star room than what Thomson Holidays s rate it as a 4 star. it is was totally obvious to all of us that this will not be a super family hotel next year because no money has been spent on it in a year. Still the prices around the pool and in the entertainment area are very over priced (at least double what you would pay in the village)

The swimming pool is fantastic but be aware buy some swimming shoes for your kids and adults, we reported this last year and again this year, the pool floor is very rough to the extent every adult who joined in the fun (as you would) had cut feet. even the kids cut their feet.

My last negative point is the Thomson Holidays 's management team. They have a very young and nearly all first timers to this job, (more on them later) they displayed no leadership, no morale boosting and no man magagement skills what so ever. they were diciplining staff in the main reception area in full view of all the guest and bullying (in my eyes) the staff. Whilst we were there i personally saw 4 reps / entertainers crying due to the managers, 2 resigned due to the treatment they were getting. These kids are away from their families, many for the first time they need leadership and support and not constant criticism. Thomson Holidays s if you do monitor these pages then you need to get a grip of this very serious matter.

Now for the praise (at last) Lets start with the entertainers, can i again thank you so very much, Kris and Charlotte were fantastic, these 2 give so much energy and so much professionalism. You 2 made the holiday for my 2 children they love you loads and so did all of us. The reps were also fantastic, they new their jobs very well and were a great source of information and helpful. Kids reps girls, again a wonderful team of girls, hard working and excellant with the kids. Now for st georges it self, still great small but enough for 2 weeks. last year we thought san carlos restaurant was the best but the balcony has pipped it this year we think. try georges for quad bikes 30 euro for the 1st day and 25 from then on.

To summerise we still had a great holiday, we will not be going back for the 3rd time although we will be staying with Thomson Holidays s superfamily.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Well we booked this holiday on the monday and got there on the Tuesday, we had a choice of 3 hotel and didn't know where we were going untill we got to corfu airport. it was our honeymoon so i had quite high ecpectations of what i wanted. Please be warned that i cried when i first got there because of the drive up to the hotel. But don't let that put you off at all the reception is just the start of a fantastic hotel and resort.

The apartments are more than average in size and are very clean with a large balcony. my daughter was 11 months and we found that it was ideal for her as she could crawl around and not hurt herself. The pool was kept very clean and although deep in places ideal for the adult and the kids could go by the kids pool area and that was fine.

i just have to say that i thought the creche was fantastic and karley loved every minute of it. At 15euros for 2 hours i think well worth the money i would book this before i went next time as it is alot cheaper. we usually put her in from 11.30 - 1.30 as it was great for her to be out of the mid day sun and we could enjoy it.

Roly poly schmoly amd juicy lucy a big hello and you were fantastic in a big hotel i would of expected a team of at least 5 entertainers not 2. but you didn't need any more you did a fantastic job. my little dancing queen loved you.

Just past the apartments was the corfu hotel and then down to the beach abosulutly gorgeous. we met up with a couple of others with children the same age so we went down to the bars and restaurants where the children had cheesy puff partys.

We sampled many of the restaurants the balcony and san carlos were our favourite with the sunset a favourite for the full english in a morning. i would deffinatly say don't go to the same restaurants all the time coz there are plenty more to try.

i would deffinately go back there hopefully end of next year again.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Before travelling to the Corfu Plaza I was slightly concerned by some of the negative comments that I had read on this website about the accommodation.

I can understand people's trepidation on the drive up to the Corfu Plaza as the hotel is back to front so that the reception area is set back from the resort itself, and the drive to it is down a single track road, past a derelict building. Luckily for us, we arrived in the dark so we were oblivious to it.

I was pleasantly surprised by the reception area following a previous posting that I had read. The floor and reception are in marble and following close inspection, I certainly would NOT describe this area as tatty. It was furnished to a high standard.

We were allocated a two bedroom apartment in J block. I was over the moon when I saw it as we had only paid for a one bedroom apartment.

The apartment was basic but it was extremely clean and spacious. As long as you realise before you travel that the accommodation is not equivalent to a 4 star hotel in the UK then you will not be disappointed. We cooked a few meals in the apartment and found the facilities were very good. The oven and fridge were like new, and the two ring hob was enough for us. On the negative side, the space between the sink and the electric hob was quite small, so you could only wash a few dishes at a time. You do have to stand on a chair to reach some of the crokery aswell. We had no problems with the shower, but then again we are all under 5 ft 4. You have to be careful in Greece not to put your toilet paper down the toilet as it clogs up the pipes. They provide a bin instead to deposit your toilet paper in. The bin in our apartment was a waste paper bin with no lid. It goes without saying that a peddle bin would have been more appropriate.

The view from our balcony was beautiful. We had requested a pool view, but we found that the balcony looked over the picturesque mountains and a small farmhouse instead. In hindsight I was glad not to have a pool view. It was so much nicer watching the goats being herded.

From an entertainment point of view, I could not fault it. My 8 year old son thoroughly enjoyed the kids club, the pool area and the beach at St George, as well as the evening entertainment. The entertainment team were absolutely fantastic.

The resort of St George, although small in comparison to other resorts had all that we needed. We found the supermarkets quite dear, but as we were purchasing pot noodles, spaghetti hoops etc then it was only to be expected.

We only ate out twice, and both times we ate at the Balcony. My son loved the sparklers in the ice cream and we found the waiters there to be extremely hospitable. You could often here one of the waiters singing in Greek while he took your order or brought your food to you. The food at the Balcony was first class and reasonably priced.

St George is really suitable to families with children. You will not find any nightclubs in the resort, only bars and tavernas, which suited us down to the ground. My mother travelled with us on this holiday, and I noticed that quite a few grandparents had made the trip with their families.

The beach at St George is clean golden sand. One point to note though is that if you go for a paddle in the sea, you will find that the seaweed can be a bit of a problem. I don't know whether this is just in the vicinity of where we sat on the beach, or whether it is typical of the beach as a whole.

We only went on one excursion as we were only there for one week. We booked our excursion with Cosmos who are located on the main strip in St George South. We decided on the Corfu Town shopping trip / Kalypso Star & Sea Lions. We thought that this had an element of something for the adults, and something for my son. The Kalypso Star is a glass bottomed boat. My son thoroughly enjoyed it. They drop anchor and send divers into the sea to show you the local sea life. You are then taken to watch a sea lion display.

I would recommmend this holiday to anyone with children under 14. You certainly will not be disappointed. We all had a fantastic holiday, and I for one would definately be tempted to book again. One family at the Corfu Plaza were on their 3rd visit for 2006 - I think that that speaks for itself.

My/Our Holiday Review:

I vowed never to go back to Greece after a horrendous holiday in Crete 20 years ago. Due to circumstances, we had to make a very late booking this year. Using the First Resort web site (also part of TUI - Thomson Holidays 's parent company) we saved over £100 compared to the Thomson Holidays Direct website for this holiday. There was only the choice of a 4T Family break in Corfu available. As it was Corfu or no holiday I was happy to risk it in the circumstances. I would say here that I am very fussy but was pretty satisfied with where we stayed and had a really good holiday. This is not the best establishment I've ever stayed in as we have often used Thomson Holidays Platinum in the past but it certainly wasn't the worst by a very long way. They represented excellent value for money for the price we paid. I certainly didn't recognise the description made in one of the very recent reviews.

Apartments

We arrived at the Corfu Plaza at 3.30 in the morning. There were 2 Thomson Holidays staff on hand with torches to make sure everyone got to their rooms safely. We had been allocated a 2 bedroom apartment (H302) and I was impressed at its size. Our son slept in one room containing 2 single beds and the air conditioning unit. We had a very similar sized room with what was a Queen sized bed. The beds were relatively comfortable and the balcony extended right across the apartment, both rooms having double doors onto it. The rest of the furniture was a little tired but it all worked. There was a TV in one room but we never used it. The kitchen area was not that big and was not extravagantly equipped but that didn't bother us as we never make use of the cooking facilities any way. There was no toaster and the kettle was one of those affairs you have to heat on the electric hob. The built in fridge was pretty new and worked fine. We found the maid service to be first rate, sheets and towels changed at least 3 times a week. The WC broke one morning but it was repaired within 1 hour of reporting it to reception so we were impressed with that.

I was very pleasantly surprised the next morning to have a look around the site in daylight. The reception was spotless; there was a bar at night which never appeared busy. There were plenty of seats - 2 or 3 styles of very comfortable settees and an internet room as well as a TV room. All of this was very clean and modern. The Corfu Plaza is made up of 9 apartment blocks, most of which are 3 storey. All were clean on the outside and the grounds were very pretty. Whilst we were there, all the hedges were being trimmed. The pool area is very clean and large. There was certainly no hint of any obnoxious smells at any time. (There was a short thunderstorm on one night we were there and all the staff were out the next morning hosing down the sun beds and sweeping up the debris before 9.00am). Whilst there was the inevitable reserving of sun beds we had no problems in the whole time we were there, coming out between 9.30 and 10 each morning. We did use the pool bar during day and found all the staff very friendly. The grounds include a sister hotel whose facilities Thomson Holidays guests can use. This includes a store - we certainly had no problems seeing what was on the shelves!!

Whilst I for one do not bother with the organised daily entertainment, I did not find it intrusive and our 12 year old spent most days doing the different activities. A special mention here in particular for Rowly the entertainer who I think was by far the best entertainment staff I have ever come across. I can't say that we used the reps much but on the one occasion we needed help she was useless and wouldn't get up to speak to the reception. At this point one of the very helpful Kidzone reps actually went with my wife to the reception as the other 2 reps were nowhere to be seen. This was due to the way that the same rep had orginally explained our leaving arrangements.

BEWARE WHEN THEY DO THE MEETING EXPLAINING THE ARRANGEMENTS FOR GOING HOME! We were leaving at midnight and were told by this particular rep that the hotel would organise use of the shower room when you checked out based around times guests had to leave. What actually happened was that most of the people had gone to reception at 9am and booked all the popular slots before going back later in the morning to check out. After some "discussion" with the reception staff and the Kidzone person present we got a much more sensible alternative to 2.30. It may be worth paying for a late check out to avoid this. However this is the only real grumble we had.

Resort

Ignore what the brochure says - the path through the hotel grounds to the beach and into the resort is well lit. This is a small resort and the beach is really nice. There is a fair choice of bars and restaurants and you get a most fantastic sunset from the seafront. We ate at several restaurants - Panorama, Sebastian's, Dimitris but found The Balcony better than these for quality (a lot less salty food) and quantity. The best of all was the Secret Garden on the seafront. Its street frontage (Tata's Family restaurant) is pretty nondescript but it's a different world when you go down the path. The food quality is excellent; you get the most fantastic sunsets across the bay and sit directly looking out onto the sea. We noticed quite a few of the same people coming back like us who obviously had the same opinion. The service is also friendly and efficient. We found the Amazona bar to be a little bit different and laid back and we were made very welcome there. Also enjoyed the Retreat, Easy Busy and Stamatis bars where there was live entertainment some nights and large screen TVs other nights. We felt completely safe in the evenings - no sign of drunken louts and all the bars had a wide range of ages in them mixing without any problems.

The pace of life is slow and was just what we needed to recover from a hectic year. It certainly changed my opinion of Greece and I would think about returning. We were all a little sad at the end of the holiday to have to leave.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Came back from Corfu Plaza in mid July and had a great time. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Maids very pleasant and bar staff helpful. Prices at bar a bit too high for drinks.

The resort is very quiet. There is no through road so not a lot of traffic.

Lovely tavernas and bars along the main road of resort. All the restaurants we ate in were lovely. We went to the Balcony, San Carlos, Panorama, The Secret Garden to name a few. Our best bar was Los Amigos which is just below the Balcony.

The resort is so safe we allowed our children to go out with other kids at night for something to eat on their own then met them in Los Amigos and Stamatis Bar.

Entertainment at night in the hotel was not really up to much - a couple of nights were good but we mostly stayed in Los Amigos where the staff were all lovely.

We enjoyed it so much we are thinking seriously of going back next year.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Absolutely loved it. Entertainment staff (Juicy Lucy & Rowly Poly Schmoly) were incredible. 6 days a week, all day long, never stopped, bouncing and smiling - tried to dislike them but their smiles were infectious. Kids absolutely adored them.

Accommodation is OK, could do with a bit of a revamp though, and in our 1 bed apartment the air con. was in the lounge so if we were hot in our room in the night we had to 'freeze' the girls to cool our room down - saying that though our apartment was in the shade most of the time and we used it very rarely. Drinks at the bar are expensive, most people there seemed to be smuggling in their own drinks (didn't see anyone getting caught but there was rumours of it).

Went on Theos boat trip and loved it would definitely recommend it.

Not the holiday for someone who wants to keep to themselves and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet. But if you want your kids to be entertained and make friends and have a bit of 'cheese' to entertain you at night then it is the perfect destination.

My/Our Holiday Review:

As you fly into Corfu, you are very close to Albania. On arrival at the Corfu Plaza, I thought that the pilot had taken a wrong turn and that we were in Albania, albeit 20 years ago.

As the rep mentioned on approach to the Corfu Plaza, "don't worry that you are in the middle of nowhere, the apartments are just back to front", this did nothing to allay our fears. However, this just set the tone for the holiday as we realised just how poor the apartment complex actually was.

Apparently Thomson Holidays s rate this accommodation as 4T, rated by their customers, we were told by the Thomson Holidays s rep. What they were awarding T's for I do not know. Perhaps it was because there was a big swimming pool and that the weather was nice.

As we checked into the Reception (sorry, read mausoleum filled with old tatty furniture and no people) and took the walk to block C (or cell block C as it should have been) we were most unimpressed with the overall ambience of the complex. The apartment blocks are 2 stories tall but look like Russian council blocks with peeling paint, very high bushes and an overpowering smell of sewage coming from the drains. We made our way up the stairs to our apartment to be greeted by a light switch falling off the wall and an array of pictures of Joan Collins and Judith Chalmers! The apartment looked like it had been decorated circa 1940 and had absolutely no appeal. We were given keys to another 3 apartments to see if they were any better, I think we had been allocated the best of a bad bunch.

To reach the crockery you would have needed to be about 7 foot tall and to wash the dishes gave you an impromptu shower as the water went everywhere but the sink! The balcony received no sunshine but overlooked a bit of scrubby waste ground with an old septic tank in it. The balcony was soaked with water coming from the air conditioning unit. Unless you are about 3 foot tall it will be impossible to turn round in the shower as you hold the shower head, you can't hang it on the wall. A trip to the supermarket requires a torch, not to light the way but to see the array of goods on the shelves in the dimly lit shop.

A short walk takes you to the beach and to the resort of St George South which is quite pleasant but as we moved pronto from these apartments (the best thing really) we did not spend much time there.

We felt that this complex was a bit like Butlins Skegness but with nice weather, probably Butlins standard of accommodation is superior to this.

The Thomson Holidays s superfamily Centre looked pretty grubby and cheap and nasty, perhaps the entertainment made up for it. The rep sat at a desk surrounded by Thomson Holidays s merchandise, a bit of a mess really.

Perhaps you will enjoy this holiday but we were bitterly disappointed with the standard of the accommodation. It seems an unrealistic way to rate accommodation. For ratings on the Thomson Holidays T system, read number of facilities, not standard of accommodation. I think that the standard is possibly about 2 star but not much more. Be warned before you book!

By the way we had an excellent holiday when we moved to alternative accommodation in Corfu.

My/Our Holiday Review:

We have just come from corfu st georgias, south of the island. Stayed in Apartments at the corfu Plaza, fantastic, plenty to do, and see.

The children loved it and the entertainment fantastic, bar prices expensive, but we were on holiday, so did not care, did not always buy from bar, took our own.

If you do any trips make sure you do the theos bbq trip, and the Aqualand (do a full day), don't do the glass bottom boat trip, was a waste of money for what it was. The greek night we did not do but people were saying that they would have done two trips on theo's bbq boat trip rather than the greek night (The greek meal was chicken and chips).

Now for some bad points:-

1. Kids clubs were great the first week we had no problems signing them in, 2nd week the list goes up the previous day at 5.30 pm, i queued from 4.45pm waiting to put my kids names on the list for the following day. They cannot cope with all the children that arrive at the resort as not enough reps and room not big enough. so when advertised for lots to do there, there is, but kids clubs were always full

2. Not enough sunbeds to go around for everyone, people were putting towels down for sunbeds at 8 am then going on trips, not getting back until 4pm, could not take towels off as you did not know if they were actually on trips or not, I got fed up of this, not proud but i went out at midnight and put towels down for sunbeds for the next day. Yes we did actually stay by the poolside.

And as we left on the 25th found out that another 200 children were arriving to this resort, major busy.

So next year we will go a bit earlier.

Don't get me wrong there were plenty of things to do and great for children, the water sports at the end of the road by the beach were cheap, i did parasailing and got a dvd for 55 euro's, brill.

Places to eat many to choose from and very reasonable for the 4 of us including drinks (lots of) around 30-40 euros for all.

Places to eat lots of and bars to drink, best places wer found were San Carlos,

Balcony, Sebastions, Cuckoosn Nest(Only did keebab and burgers, but fantastic), and our favourite we went backt 3 times The Garden (known as the Secret Garden), i found this to be the best traditional for greek food, starters i had muscles (could have been the main course). A PLUS.

The reps there were fantastic especially Juicy Lucy and Rowley Poley Schmoley, these were the poolside entertainers and the evening entertainers, how they did it i do not know.

I managed to get two medals and My son Nathan won a Thomson Holidays the dog rucksack, on the last evening, answering questions on the movie he had just watched in the movie mania evening on the monday (3hrs of freedom).

Over all we will be going back again a fantastic Holiday had by all.

There is one other thing i would like to mention, if you want a late night then go into the st georgias as there are lots of bars etc, the entertainment by the poolside finished every evining at 11.30 which was bril as it all goes quiet, not a sound, no loud music no discos.

So you do have the best of both worlds.

If you are debating on going there now you will have a good time, no infact a fantastic time. Happy Holidays

My/Our Holiday Review:

For a family with children looking for a quiet beach holiday this resort ticked all our boxes. The complex itself is perfectly located a short walk from the beach with excellent rooms and facilities. Well kept, safe and clean with picturesque gardens and a large swimming pool.

The Thomson Holidays reps (and there are a lot of them here) are fantastic with activities and entertainment on tap all day & evening. The kids were never bored and loved all the entertainment. If the little darlings drive you nuts, clubs and drop in clubs are also on hand to keep the kids busy while you chill by the pool.

The staff at the hotel are so hospitable and they all helped to make our holiday a perfect one. The reception is well run and in particular the pool bar staff are so warm and friendly, they make you feel like old friends come to visit again.

No hi-rise on this seafront! Set against a backdrop of wonderful scenery including mountains and olive groves. The sandy beach is such a beautiful place to relax with shallow, warm, crystal clear water and not too crowded at all. It has an abundance of water sport activities (if you want to get more physical) or you can bask in the glorious sunshine that seems to be a permanent feature of this island, this beach is perfect.

Nikos sea sports directly in front of the palm beach offers all kinds of fun activities and in my experience of water Nikos (the proprietor) takes very seriously the safety of his clients. I have 2 children and for the last 5 years I have been happy to involve them in a lot of the activities. This is so often a concern with youngsters but I am more than satisfied that his experience makes him entirely competent.

The village of St George has no shortage of bars & restaurants offering both English and Greek cuisine and again is so suited to families with it's low key friendly atmosphere. There is also an excellent buffet restaurant on site if you don't fancy the 5 minute walk to town. On the seafront verandas of the restaurants you can enjoy an evening meal whilst watching one of the most glorious sunsets I have ever seen.

We will be back again as we have done before. When something isn't broken, there is no point in fixing it. I know we can enjoy holiday after holiday in this charming corner of Corfu.

Negatives: Don't drink the water, the mineral content is a little high for some (usual for Greece). It's OK to brush your teeth in and Ice, soft drinks & food prep is made with mineral water so salads are OK. Mosquitoes can sometimes be a pest but repellent seems to deal with that.

My/Our Holiday Review:

The Corfu Plaza itself was a lovely complex surrounded by a lot of plants and flowers and really was visually beautiful. the facillities were excellent and the pool was fantastic(the warmest outdoor pool i have ever been in!!) the pool bar was not the cheapest we've been to but the service was outstanding and the food was excellent.

Thomson Holidays reps were great. they provided entertainment practicaaly round the clock always with enthusiasm but without being too pushy either so you could join in if only if you wanted to! the kids reps were brilliant - worked very hard keeping the kids amused- which was great as it was very hot (40 degrees everyday) and they needed time out of the sun.

the apartments themselves were ok. the lounge/kitchen area was quite small (particularly in the 2 bed aparts) and dark as the balconies led off the bedrooms. the bedrooms were a good size and the aircon was a Godsend!!

the town of St George was small with very few shops that sold anything apart from the usual tat but there was enough restaurants to eat somewhere new everyday. reasonable prices and kid friendly.BEWARE- NOT A PHARMACY IN TOWN!

Aqua park was excellent but the trip to seal island is a disappointment(only go if you like to see sealions in cages in the middle of the sea.)

Theos beach BBQ is a MUST- fun all day for both adults and kids.

Overall a fantstaic hloiday and somewhere we would go back to!

The review below is spot on! We had a brilliant time. Our 5 year old loved the clubs - and we all know, if they are happy, then we are happy! We tried the creche a couple of times with our son. It was great, air conditioned, loads of brand new toys, the reps were really good and professional.

All of the restaurants were very child friendly, we loved the Pizza restaurant (can't remember the name, but it's about half way down the road, on the left and right!)

My/Our Holiday Review:

Just back from 2 glorious weeks at the Corfu Plaza.

Don't be worried when you drive along the road leading to the apartments, which kind of looks like the road to nowhere, because the hotel is back to front!!

The apartments are clean and spacious and cleaned everyday with a towel change.

The air conditioning, which you will need, is blastin!!!

Pool great, sunbeds - plenty, free Thomson Holidays towels, parasols - tonnes.

Pool bar - crazy prices 4 euro for a pint - hello!

The Kidzone club deserves a special mention, my 7 yearold loved it, so much so that he made so many friends we hardly saw him for the entire 2 weeks......... bliss.

The team work hard and your kids are in club 2 hours in the daytime at various times depending on age and its all air conditioned. Also there is an evening club 3 times a week which they charge 2 euro - sooooooooooo worth it.

Sometimes the kids put on a show so they have to do extra evening kids clubs so they can rehearse...can it get any better.

So your kids will love it even if they are like taking the dog to the vets on the first day!!!

The entertainment reps are great too and put on a show when there isnt an act flown in from the UK 3 times a week.

Its all really cheesy but just keep pouring the Metaxa down your neck and it will be like Sunday night at the Palladium!!!!.

St George itself is as described in previous reviews - just a long road.

We tried the restaurants recommended here - Panorama and The Balcony and although good not the best.

Try the 'Splendid' next to the Orange Bar, you can't miss it. We found the food there fantastic and continued custom brought as a free jug of wine......... result!!

We had a superb time at the Corfu Plaza and made great new frinds (you know who you are) and have booked for next year.

If you have kids............go!!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Had alovely week at Corfu Plaza, St Georges South. We had a one bed apartment shared by 3 adults and one child and ther was loads of room. The place was clean with everything you need, perhaps could do with a revamp but this didnt affect our enjoyment at all. our apartment was at the back of the building away from direct sun so was never hot even though the weather outside was scorching! We didnt use air con. at all.

The complex was great, really clean and tidy, lovely plants, very well maintained. huge pool and big kids pool that were never over crowded; plenty of free sunbeds. Kids soft play room was invaluable for our three year old to get a break from the sun and play with ohter kids.

Snack bar serving a good selection of food and drinks, fairly expensive but not as bad as we were lead to expect. Supermarket on site is very well stocked but as expected british favs such as pot noodles, tinned soup etc very expensive - bring your own if you really need them!

We didnt really stay on the complex at night for the entertainment much but it was ok, just what Id expect from a family holiday complex. our three year old enjoyed the kids club which ran every day at various times fro two hour seesions and is free.

Complex less than 10 mins from beach and St georges town. Path is very well lit at night. The beach is lovely and clean, uncrowded too. The town is relly just one long street with shops and restaurants on both sides. so many restaurants that you could eat somewhere different every night. Balcony and Panorama were the best we found.

My husband hired a quad bike from Georges hire, up the far end of St Georges, for three days. This was great for exploring surrounding area such as mountain villages ans lake Korrisson and sand dunes at far end of the beach. Much more fun than a car, although obviously you wouldnt want to take a young child on it. Really reasonable at £25.00 euros per day.

helmets are also provided.

Went on day trip to islands of Paxos and Anti paxos by boat. Paxos was beautiful with a lovely laid back atmosphere, and a lovely little harbour at Gios to rival St Tropez! but we only had Two hours there - not nearly enough time to do it justice. Anti paxos was a total waste of time as boat moored off shore for one hour and we were stranded and forced to buy overpriced hotdogs from the bar on the boat. We though we were going ashore to sunbathe and swim, this wasnt the case.

also went to Corfu town by night. it was great, beautiful architecture and really lively. lovely little shops and much more choice than St georges. do your souvenir shopping here!

All in all we had a fab week, cant fault the place at all.Id definatly go back to St Georges and would stay at Corfu plaza again anytime!

My/Our Holiday Review:

Well what a fantastic holiday, the corfu plaza is wonderfully run by Thomson Holidays 's.

The hotel caters for family's with children, although there were alot of family's who had taken their grandparents and they enjoyed it just as much. we will be taking the grandparents there next year. st georges which is the local town only a 5-10 mins walk away is small with about a dozen restaurants and a few supermarkets but dont let this put you off. in the 14 days we were there we did not have a bad meal. San Carlos is the best. approx price for a meal for 2 adults and 2 children with wine and 3 courses is 50 euro. the holiday reps are very knowledgeable and friendly (kerry is your main one)they do not push any trips on you. the trips are a bit more expensive than the local cosmos in town but its worth it. the kidszone is fantastic. jackie, ritchie and silly sam are brilliant with the kids to the extent that the kids want to go to every club. 3 times a week you can book your children into the party club (3 euros) from 18.30-20.30 this gives you plenty of time for the parents to go and have a meal in town together.

Now onto the fantastic 3. the lovely ginge, juicy lucy and rolly polly schmollie. these 3 are the best entertainers that has walked this earth as far as we are concerned. they keep the kids entertained all day with fun and games by the pool from 11.00 to 17.00. then they come back at 20.15 ready for the kids disco and more. entertainment in the night is brill although the greek night is sorry to say rubbish but that is put on by the hotel and has nothing to do with the fantastic 3.

i could not find fault in the way this is run by Thomson Holidays 's however i must criticise the prices of the bar around the pool and the prices in the bar for the entertainment. it is scandalous 4 euro for a pint of beer, 3 euro for a small plate of chips. this i believe encouraged people putting alcohol in their bags at night (we did) or bringing food and drink from their rooms of a day. the bar staff were not very polite and aggressive.

i would recommend everyone to go here but if you have very little ones dont go in july / august its will be to hot. average temperature for us between the 16th may and 30th may was around 30 degrees, on 1 day it reach 35 degrees.again i must congratulate mark and the hard work they do there and a special thank you to the fantastic 3 love ya.

My/Our Holiday Review:

Firstly, a word on the apartments. In my job I spend about 40% of my time travelling around the world and staying in hotels. The apartments are nowhere near as bad as some recent reviews here may lead you to believe. If scored as a hotel(and I've stayed in hundreds) they would be considered about three star by most reasonable people (unless you spend all your time in the UAE). They are certainly not finished to the highest of standards but are clean and there is everything that you need.

Now the resort. If, like us, you are looking for a quiet break away from nightclubs, loud pre-pubescent youths and binge drinking twenty somthings this place is perfect. The beach road contains all there is in the way of entertainment. A handful of beachside restaurants (with very nice sunset views) No three storey nightclubs here and very few people between the ages of 16 and 30. Needless to say, kids a made very welcome.

The walk down to the beach is a very pleasant five minute stroll (look out for baby frogs, lizards or the tortoise). The beach itself is gently shelving (again, perfect for young children). The beach loungers are around ?6 a go (but I've always preffered the feel of sand on my back anyway).

All of the restaurants are pleasant enough. I would really recommend the San Carlos though. If your children are in one of the evening clubs, take the oppurtunity to have a quiet dinner there with your partner and then stroll back along the beach (if that doesn't put a little bit of romance back into your marriage, best get some councilling when you get home!). For a change from standard greek dishes and the obligatory steak etc, try the BBQ'd octopus.

For shopping, I'd suggest avoiding the shop in the complex and use either the first shop you find in the resort or the min-mart in the centre of the resort.

Now for the Thomson Holidays reps. We have been away on Superfamily breaks three times now and kepp coming back because of the reps and kid's clubs. They make such a difference (our four year old loves them and that leave's some welcome quality time for the two of us).

The reps here are some of the best that I have seen. The kidszone reps are so sweet that you won't think twice about leaving your precious offspring in their charge.

I remember specifically Jackie (small enough to pick up and put in your pocket) and my daughter was taken with her too.

"Jucy Lucy" and "Rolly Polly Schmolly". They are great entertainers and were clearly working very hard, making the entire team work together so very well. I really cannot recommend them highly enough. The resort size is such that people quickly become friendly with one another (but you will never feel any pressure to join in and can laze at the "adult end" of the for a quieter life - you won't even here the music played down there).

Point to remember. You have to put your kid's name down on a list for the clubs on the evening before (at 5.30pm).

We have been on a few
