Sidari Hotels and Apartments S - Z San George Aparthotel - Sidari Operator and Date: Kosmar July 2007 Opinion submitted in August 2007 by : Maris Dunn 52 ,54, 14 Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: Had a fantastic time at the San George, Couldn't have asked for better accommodation. Apartment was spacious and spotlessly clean. The cleaner came in every day. The pool and surrounding area was lovely and again very clean. The staff especially, George, Acchilas and Dimitra were all extremely helpful and great fun. The food at San George was very good and very reasonable. There were 16 in our party all together and we all had a brilliant time. We would recommend The Greek tavern and B.E.D's in Sidari to eat. We would not have been happy to stay right in Sidari due to the crowds, noise etc but it was nice to sroll there, enjoy what it had to offer, and then return to our lovely San George. Would definately return. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- San George Aparthotel - Sidari Operator and Date: Kosmar - July 07 Opinion submitted in August 2007 by : Ceri Lee - South Wales (51,51,17) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: 4th of August just returned from two weeks in the beautiful resort of Sidari, situated in the San george hotel Apts. Staff at the accomodation were very helpful, could not do enough for you, ready to help whenever needed. Rooms are quite basic, but the main thing is they were very clean and tidy when we fisrt arrived. Dont make the mistake of exiting the hotel and turning left, you will find ahead of you about a fifteen minute journey to a quite expensive supermarket, however exit the hotel to your right and in less than five minutes find a cheap and cheerful supermarket for all your needs. We were only three of a party of eleven, all had a very enjoyable time and would certainly, and will be returning to sidari, but more importantly the San george hotel. its perect for everyone, just ten minutes away from many shops, bars, nightclubs and resteraunts, but far enough away for a bit of peace and quiet! brilliant holiday! xxx --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- San George Aparthotel - Sidari Operator and Date: Kosmar - July 2007 Opinion submitted in July 2007 by : Alan Payne - South Wales ( 52,56 ) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: Perfect location for a peaceful holiday if you only want to stay by the pool, because it's a fair walk to the main town area. Sometimes the street lights near the hotel did not work which made it worrying as there are no pavements, and it's pitch black. Rooms spacious and cleaned daily, but only one change of towels, and bedding not changed all week. Staff very friendly and helpful. Beach very nice with all water sports available. Food, Roof garden very nice meals, all tastes catered for. Greek family resturant good food. Three little pigs not as good as in some reviews. Resort very good would go there again. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- San George Apartments - Sidari Operator and Date: Kosmar June 2007 Opinion submitted in July 2007 by : Lynne and Jonathat (50 ,49) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: We were at the San George and found these apartments excellent, great size, friendly staff and a great pool area where you did not have to get us at the crack of dawn and leave your towels down. Always plenty of beds. All the staff were great and very friendly. We would go back to these apartments. The only complaint is that Kosmar give you a "tour of the Island" before you get there by dropping off in resorts like Ispos and Dassia and it has been a long enough journey without having to endure that. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- San George Apartments - Sidari Operator and Date: Kosmar - June 2007 Opinion submitted in June 2007 by : Chris Mansell - Staffordshire ( 57, 55 ) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: We booked our break a week prior to departure asking the travel agent to find us something cheap for a week. They came up with a week in Sidari at the San George at a very low price of £258 in total. Expecting not a lot for our bargain holiday off we went. What a pleasant surprise we had on arrival at the San George Hotel. It was spotless, the rooms were quite spacious and had sliding mosquito blinds on all the windows and the doors leading on to the balcony. The pool area and reception / bar were also well looked after by manager Achilles and George and Georgia the bar staff. The only thing we found was on our departure day we had to vacate at 12 noon, and there was no courtesy room available and our airport pick up was 1-15am the following day. So for 20 euros we booked a room for the day at the nearby Villa Galini, where Rula and Michael made us feel very welcom until airport pick up time.By doing this we were able to enjoy our holiday 'till the the very last minute. We found Memories resturant a good place to eat, with a three course meal costing as little as 6.50 euros. The waiters do a Greek dance routine with fire and plate smashing. If we do return to Sidari in the future we will definitely try to stay at the San George. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- San George Apartments - Sidari Operator and Date: (Thomas Cook Direct) Thomas Cook - Sept 2005 Opinion submitted in Oct 2005 by : Annie Phipps - Sutton Coldfield (28, 31, 19 mnths) Resort Rating: Good Accommodation Rating: Poor My/Our Holiday Opinion: Sidari is a lovely place but we will not be returning to the San George. As a young family we were placed in a 'family' room twenty foot from the bar that played horrendously loud music after 11pm which repeatedly woke out 19 month old son. When we asked if it could be turned down, the evening bar man said it wasn't late, shrugged when we said it was waking our son and then turned it up again when we had gone. We spoke to our rep and she said the owners didn't want to move us as we were going soon! We were then treated with the barest civility for the rest of our stay. The rooms themselves were quite nice but we were there for 1 week and they were only cleaned once. The bathrooms were dirty, I wouldn;t wash my son in the bath! As for self catering, we had no knife sharp enough to cut bread and one glass. We love Greece and have always found the Greeks to be so helpful and friendly but not this time. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- San George Apartments - Sidari Operator and Date: (Thomas Cook Direct) Thomas Cook - October 2004 Opinion submitted in Nov 2004 by : Sam - hull (18, 20) Resort Rating: Good Accommodation Rating: Below Average My/Our Holiday Review: We went to Sidari in october the weather was fantastic apart from the first three days when we had thunder storms. Sidari itself is nice enough however they is a slight smell of drainage in the main town. The night life is good for all ages whether you like the clubs, karoke, or a quite little bar. I was advised to eat at the three little pigs which is very traditional!! i didn't find the food very nice however.Shakers on the other hand is great, the food is lovely, serves every thing and any thing. Also the roof garden is nice the meals are huge we never left feeling hungry. A word of warning stay away from the chinese on the main road on the right the food was nice but the vomiting the day after wasn't!!!!!!!! San george itself has the potential to be brilliant but the rooms are not very clean when you look closely, mould and damp was all over our ceilings and the back of our fridge, the maids come in once a week although it states in the brochure DAILY!!!!!!The pool was clean and the food is good. Stephanous behind the bar at san george is great always up for a laugh!!!! Lucy our rep was great and she helps with any thing that you need, she is always around and a good laugh to. I wouldn't go back to sidari however i would travel with thomas cook, San George is apparantly not in the Thomas Cook brochure next year!!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sellas Hotel - Sidari Operator and Date: First Choice - July / Aug 2007 Opinion submitted in August 2007 by : Steve & Debby - Stockport (45,44) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: Rooms were basic but clean, the staff were very helpful. Plenty of sunbeds around the pool. Hotel is in a quiet area about 5 Min's from the centre of Sidari and 5 Min's from the Canal D' Amour. Plenty of places to eat and we found the food to be very good and very reasonable. Try Cactus Jacks for a great breakfast full English, coffee, toast and orange juice only 5 euros. Most of the restaurants did a daily special Memories , Churchill's , the Two Brothers Taverna and the Village were all very good. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sellas Hotel - Sidari Operator and Date: First Choice - June 2007 Opinion submitted in June 2007 by : Lucy - Glasgow (21, 21) Resort Rating: Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: From reading the reviews written about the Sellas previously I was a little anxious about what to expect. However, my boyfriend and I were more than happy with the standard of accommodation. Ok, so the rool wasn't equipped with every gadget under the sun but it had all the basics and most importantly was very clean and tidy. The maids did an excellent job around the hotel and the staff were really helpful if you had any questions. The Sellas is close to the main strip but just far enough away that you couldn't hear any of the hustle and bustle at night from the resort. We had no complaints at all :) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sellas Hotel - Sidari Operator and Date: Sunstart (First Choice)-October 2006 Opinion submitted in October 2006 by : M.Stillwell 67,71 Resort Rating: Poor Accommodation Rating: Average My/Our Holiday Review: Hotel Sellas is basic but comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful. Sidari is a public health hazard, the beach smells, there are abandoned cars & fridges dumped. The beach is used as access by delivery vans to the bars & shops in the town centre. Streets are dirty & rubbish dumped anywhere. This is a great pity because Corfu is lovely. We went on several trips & other villages were clean and picturesque. Go on the East Coast boat trip, have a cherry brandy chocolate at the first stop. Visit Paleokastritsa & go on Mountain Safari (coach). We found the food in Corfu to be very good & reasonably priced, especially at Fagin's & Three Little Pigs, on the Canal d'Amor road. May go back , but not to Sidari. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sellas Hotel - Sidari Operator and Date: 1st choice oct 2006 Opinion submitted in October 2006 by : bailey and Roles 54.56.56 Resort Rating: Average Accommodation Rating: Average My/Our Holiday Review: We stayed at the Sellas Hotel in Sidari, basic accomadation, but clean. The staff at the Sellas were so friendly and very helpful, Andy the rep was a hoot,do the quiz its a right laugh. Breakfast was typical greek food, good and plenty of it. Good restaurants for the evening were Memories and three little pigs, the greek night was very good with lots of wine and good food, just don't book it with the reps it was 17 euros dearer. Do the day trips and get out of Sidari, there is not that much to do in the resort. season finishes end of october and believe me it can be very cold in the evenings. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sellas Hotel - Sidari Operator and Date: First Choice - Aug 2006 Opinion submitted in September 2006 by : Phil Robinson - Manchester (29, 26) Resort Rating: Poor Accommodation Rating: Poor My/Our Holiday Review: A (mostly) friendly family-run hotel with very basic facilities (tatty furniture, awful shower, noisy fridge). Air conditioning is an "extra" - plus a deposit for a remote control to make it work! A mostly British clientele apart from 8-10 very noisy Greek lads (who felt the need to shout ALL THE TIME) and the infamous 2 Greek kids (who were quite amusing at first, but got on people's nerves after a few days). Location is ok, in that the hotel is just far enough away from the main road that you are not kept awake all night by the many English bars, karaoke singers, "Greek" nights and Elvis/George Michael impersonators. Our biggest problem was the fact that during our stay, at least one member of every group of hotel residents that we spoke to (over twenty!) had gone down with a pretty nasty stomach bug - too much of a coincidence? Our First Choice rep was utterly useless - he tried to convince us all that it was just something going round the whole resort and it wasn't just the Hotel Sellas... The weather was fantastic and the resort was quiet at this time of the year. The hotel Sellas was a very clean and pleasant hotel, set in a quiet location which was nice and peaceful but not far from the main resort. There were plenty of restaurants and bars to eat and drink in. Mimosa and her husband ran the bar and restaurant, they were both friendly and worked really hard. Although Sidari is not the nicest place that I have been to in Corfu, I must say that the hotel sellas made up for the resort. We met some really nice people in the hotel bar, namely Carol and Linda who were lovely ladies. We would also like to say hi to Kostas who worked nightshift in the bar and took bags to holidaymakers rooms when they arrived in the early hours of the morning. He was pleasant, charming and always happy, a pleasure to meet. In all we enjoyed our week away and would recommend the Hotel Sellas. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sellas Hotel - Sidari Operator and Date: first choice holidays Opinion submitted in September 2006 by : liz and drew fife 41 44 Resort Rating: No rating Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: hotel sellas is basic but very clean maid service 6 times a week mimosa and costas are very friendly and nothing is to much trouble for them. there is shower room to use if u have a flight late in the day so u can freshen up before u leave sidari well worth booking in advance thou as soon gets booked up plenty of cheap and nice eating places around the main streets well worth going to blondes bar the staff are great their. all in all a very good holday thinking of returning to sellas in may next yr for 2 weeks this time thou so see u again costas and mimosa and take care --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scorpios 1 Apartments - Sidari Operator and Date: (Golden Sun Discounts) Golden Sun - Date Not Specified Opinion submitted in June 2004 by : Rashila - 29 Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Poor My/Our Holiday Review: We arrived at the apartment and were dissapointed. We were advised that the apartment will be very basic but we had no idea it would be this bad. To have a shower you have to hold the shower head which was spraying from all angles which meant everything around you was all getting wet as they do not have shower curtains in any shower. The ceiling above the toilet was leaking. The smell in the apartment was awaful had to buy air freshner. The pool at the apartment was nice and clean the people at the apartment were nice and friendly but spoke very little english. The resort was very good. In Sidari town very good bars and restaurants. Near the apartment restaurant called "salt and pepper" was our favourite place to eat. The beach was also good. Sidari is a lovely place to visit with very good scenery. Sidari itself i liked a lot a little bit smelly in places as the drainage ditches at the side of the road were overflowing when we were there, theres plenty of restaraunts there the best one in my opinion being Sea Breeze, also enjoyed The Three Little Pigs. The last few days we stumbled on Lagoon which is a hotel but has a great bar with entertainment every night, we went there a lot once we had found it (its just opposite Hotel Mimosa) and the kids loved it there. Nice beach with plenty of water sports, we hired a pedalo 3 times which was 10 euros for an hour. Aqualand is a must espicially if you have kids but please dont book with the rep they charge 35 euros each and we got it for 19 euros on the main road. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Sellas - Sidari Operator and Date: (Unijet Discounts) Unijet--Oct.2004 Opinion submitted in Oct 2004 by : D, and P. It is lush and green with some spectacular scenery and beautiful beaches. Sidari, however, is one of the most disappointing resorts we have ever visited. It is run-down and neglected, the streets and pavements are in very bad repair and the drainage ditches are clogged and full of stagnant water. The "Blue Flag" beach is full of rubbish and ,as all the drainage ditches run into the sea, the water, too, is dirty. The "golden" sand is actually a thin brown clay. On the plus side there are many good restaurants and bars, lots of which (notably the "3 Little Pigs"] put on a super show of Greek dancing as part of the service. Other good eateries are Fagins, the Sea Breeze, Memories, the Olympic, Faros, and the Rose Garden. The Sellas Hotel is one of the really good things about the place. It is very comfortable and clean with a friendly and obliging staff [Kostas, Nikos and Mimoza in particular] There are always plenty of sunbeds by the pool and on the garden and excellent service from the pool-bar. Apart from a problem the first week with an unreliable hot water supply, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Sellas - Sidari Operator and Date: (Unijet Discounts) Unijet September 2004 Opinion submitted in Oct 2004 by : Jeremy Sutcliffe 58, 56 Resort Rating: Below Average Accommodation Rating: Good My/Our Holiday Review: Sellas Hotel provides basic but adequate bed and breakfast accomodation. Fridge and kettle in room useful, but N.B. the electricity is only on when your keycard is in place so the fridge is only an insulated coolbox when you are out of the room. N.B. also, you need your own soap/shampoo etc for the bathroom. Air conditioning is purchaseable but at the time we were there we didn't need to. Breakfast very elementary - two choices of cereal, bread, ham, cheeese, jam. Cooked breakfasts can be purchased. Plenty of space around the pool. Staff friendly and accomodating Sidari itself is a dump. One main street fronted by bars, eateries and tacky gift shops. A sort of wild west shanty town feel. You expect to see Clint Eastwood or John Wayne walking towards you. However some of the eateries quite good. We managed to avoid English cuisine and enjoyed different Greek recipes each night. We used Sea Brreze three times, each time sitting at the beach end of the establishment. Also thought Memories was good. Trips out? We tried two The evening shopping trip to Corfu Town. Time to eat and see the shops. An interesting place with some character. The boat ride out to the Diapondia Islands. Enjoyable. About two hours on each of Mathraki and Erikoossa. Gave us a chance to sample a much quieter side of Greek island life. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Sellas - Sidari Operator and Date: Pamarama - Sept 2004 Opinion submitted in Sept 2004 by : Kevin & Alison - Derby ( 42, 35 ) Resort Rating: Average Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: Hotel - This hotel is very clean and well maintained by greek standards, maid service was 6 days a week (only Sunday off). Resort Centre - Only 5 Minutes from the hotel. There is one main drag through the town with lots of bars and restaurants Two good one's The Astoria and The Roof Gargen. Cheap drinking holes were few "One for the road" the best in the town.(beware what it say's on the bottle it is not always what's in it) Canal D'Amour - From the hotel turn left instead of right into the town and more quieter bars as you head to the canal and then you get to the cliff's. Hotel Sellas was lovely the staff were so nice and helpful especially Costas. The room was basic but did have TV, fridge kettle & air con. Very nice and cleaned daily. Lots of sun beds & nice clean pool. We hired a car to see the rest of the island & I'm glad we did but it was a bit scary at times & not for the faint hearted. We didn't think much to the beach but it wasn't that bad. Sidari is very English & not very traditional Greek. Most of the bars have PRs persuading you to go into their bars. Two restaurants to try if you want Greek food are Astoria & Amvrosia. Both are on the main street. We will be going to a smaller resort next time but if you like a lot to do& English music & food (MacDonald's) Then you will have a good time. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Sellas - Sidari Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

The area (like all other greek places) is still being developed but the beach was beautiful. The so called Canal d'amor which we were looking forward to seeing was a great disapointment and didnt look too healthy to go swimming in. I would recomend travelling round the island as it is a beautiful place. we hired mopeds from the firm down the road and went to Aghios georgios which is a beautiful hidden bay and not an English person in sight (it is mainly dominated by germans i think) but it is a serene quiet place, to get their you have to travel through the mountains which is well worth it. Sidari itself looks like a road in a theme park, it is littered with restaurants and bars. teh traditional family run greek ones are the best (i forget the name s now but its something like olympia) stay away from the tacky 3 pigs!Hire a boat and travel round the island. We only spent a week there but had a wonderful holiday, its a great place. teh room has a fridge etc, but no knifes or glasses so just ask Costas and he give one to to you. The service was excellent and friendly and the room although basic is of a good size and very clean. We went in early september when the days were coiling and the nights cool, (you need a jumper trust me) but Sidari was still very busy. We arrived in corfu at night, we were the last stop on the coach and it took around four hours to arrive at the hotel! By this time it was cold and windy so having to stand outside the hotel in a queue for reception for ages just made things worse. Once we got into the room we were very disappointed, it was very basic and the hotel is very old fashioned. The room was dirty and next to reception, so it was noisy all night from the bar. It was noisy all day too as we were opposite the lift. We asked to be moved and were promised repeatedly that we would. It didn't happen, however we were worried about being put in the basement as there are rooms down there too! We didn't try the food and ate out. The maids left the balcony doors to our rooms open every day which annoyed us as we were on the ground floor. It was quite nice to sit out at the front of the hotel at night and look at the sea, but there is no beach in front of the hotel - just rocks and concrete which seems to have fallen from the road. The pool area seemed clean though. We took travellers cheques which only two of the staff were allowed to change, and they were often not available so we couldn't get any money! Sidari itself was quite nice, but lots of sea weed on the beach and smelly in places. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Sidari Beach - Sidari Operator and Date: (Olympic Direct) Olympic August 2005 Opinion submitted in Sept 2005 by : 43,15,16 Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: After reading some of the reports about Sidari Beach Hotel we were a little apprehensive as to what we would find. However, we have just returned after a two week all inclusive holiday and enjoyed every minute. Kiki and all the staff couldn't do enough to make you happy. This is a 2 star hotel and was a little basic as was the food. However saying that there was always something that we liked on the menu and if there wasn't you only had to ask and Kiki would try and give you an alternative. THere was also the poolside bar that served freshly made toasted sandwiches, cheeseburgers etc. The pool was great and had plenty of sunbeds. The hotel is right next to the beach and you woke everymorning to the sound of the sea - it was bliss. It was only a short walk into Sidari which had numerous shops, bars etc but the hotel was far enough away not to get any of the noise. All the staff made our stay relaxing and a special thanks to the domestic staff who worked hard keeping the hotel and our room very clean and tidy. So I approached my trip with some resignation despite my acceptance that it was a last minute booking and all I could get for the price range.( I was travelling alone but at least I was getting away ) I have to say, what I found was a pure gem of a Hotel and Location. The Sidari Beach is a small family run 2 star hotel of 48 rooms run with approx. 7 staff and they cater for a mainly all inclusive clientelle. The accomodation is clean and adequate and the food is plentiful. Its right on the sea front and just the right distance from the noise of Sidari.(about 5 min walk along the beach road which has street lights) The swimming pool area is impeccable and the water quality was religiously maintained. Do not come to Greece expecting the same variation and choice offered by the spanish hotels but this hotel exceeds the usual provisions for a Greek isle. All meals were served on a self service basis. Breakfast offers a choice of cereals, Bread, toast, Yoghurt, Ham, Cheese and eggs with as much real fruit juice as you can drink plus Hot Drinks. Lunch time offered a daily change of menu with a bias towards local flavours. The evening meal although usually simple, never disappointed, usually having a choice of two copious meat dishes and salad creations. During the day, the pool side bar was available for snacks (Salads, Toasties, Burgers etc). What makes this hotel special is 'Kiki'the owner, Alex her daughter, Liz and Genty. From the minute you arrive, you are made to feel welcome and very special with genuine warmth. Nothing is too much trouble. Kiki and staff manage to turn what could be a sterile environment into a home from home and that is a special quality rarely found elsewhere (never in the larger hotels). With this hotel you get the best of both worlds, firstly a place to completely chill out in and secondly, easy access to the bustling night life of Sidari. A persons experience on holiday is subjective and dependant on past experience and expectations. I have been all over the world and rarely stay at venues of less than a 4 star. I was very pleased and suprised with my experince here and will be returning again to the Sidari Beach Hotel. Thank you Kiki, Alex, Liz and Genty for your service and hospitality. You do it very well indeed. When we finally arrived at the hotel i was in shock on how old the hotel was!the reception area was like something out of the 70,s and the reception area smelt of cigarettes and mouldy plus dirty floor! When we got to the room is was tiny and smelt of mould and the bathroom was tiny!very hard beds and struggled to sleep but slept better after a few drinks.we asked to be moved and face the sea view which we did. The room was no better two single beds the floor was manky and struggled to get the balcony door open! The pool side was no better only few lounges, dog poo on the grass. The poolside bar was not open!No music and stinky ash trays lieing around all day! we had bed and breakfast which was dry eggs boiled one scrambled the other with cheese and ham!the tea and coffee was like chalk!thank god i didnt go to eat in the evening there. The restaurant is like a canteen!I wasnt expecting too much but we did pay £250 each and met other people at other hotel and they were much better and cleaner!i was so disappointed on the dirty hotel is did upset me but the town made up for it as it has nice resturants and bars which were very friendly! the beaches were very nice!my holiday would have been perfect if i booked at different hotel! Also loads of mosquitos in the room so buy a plug in before you go! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel Sidari Beach - Sidari Operator and Date: (Olympic Direct) Olympic - October 2004 Opinion submitted in Oct 2004 by : Pete, Sue - Wiltshire (50,49) Resort Rating: Good Accommodation Rating: Good My/Our Holiday Review: Just returned from Sidari, stayed at the Sidari Beach all inclusive. Booked 4 days before departure at a bargain price of £180 each. Was not expecting much as only 2 star and previous reviews that I had seen were not good. Considering what we paid we were actually pleasantly surprised. Hotel Location Is superb in very quiet area well away from the hustle and bustle of lively Sidari. A 10 min walk along sea front, which is quite dark at night, take a torch! Hotel overlooks the sea, we were fortunate to have a room at the front of the hotel and if we left our balcony doors open at night, awoke each morning to the sound of the waves breaking on the beach. Heaven! Hotel Description The hotel is small, therefore you get to know everyone hence it has a very friendly atmosphere. Kiki the owner is super, she can't do enough for you, any requests dealt with promptly and efficiently. Liz a very pleasant English girl runs the bar at night which stops serving free drinks at 10.30 but stays open until last guests have gone to bed. In saying that we were only disturbed once late at night, which was when they had the karaoke evening which alternates with a Greek night every Wednesday. Apart from CD's playing this is the only entertainment. Lounge area in reception is very comfortable, you can make your own entertainment or just relax and chat with your fellow guests. The hotel is very dated and could do with some refurbishment, it's like going back to the 60's/70's decade. The actual rooms are very basic and the bathrooms are tiny making it quite difficult to move about. The hot water is variable, had very cold shower one afternoon, best to shower after 5pm as water seemed be hot then. The hotel is kept exceptionally clean and the staff are pleasant. Plenty of sunbeds around pool area which is not overlooked and is quiet and peaceful, no hoards of screaming kids or loud music. Hotel Food I suppose this was the only downside to the holiday Breakfast usually sliced meat and cheese, toast, bread, jam, greek yoghurt, honey, cereal, cold hardboiled eggs and sometimes scrambled egg. Lunch usually pasta with a sauce, always at least 4 various salads, soup, bread and one other choice such as greek sausages. Dinner really can't comment on this as we ate out every evening, but similar to lunch but with more choice. If you got hungry in between meals snacks were available from the bar, i.e. burgers, toasties etc. Plenty of good restaurants in Sidari, would recommend the Sea Breeze which serves great food at great prices, also the El Greco. Summary If you are a fussy eater, young, and like loud music, clubs, and bars then go to Sidari but do not stay at the Sidari Beach Hotel. If you are older and looking for a basic, peaceful, quiet, relaxing holiday in a friendly atmosphere, then try the Sidari Beach, especially if you can get it at a bargain price like we did! Remember you don't get a 5 star holiday for a 2 star price, usually you get what you pay for. However, on arrival I found the appartments to be spotless and very well presented. The first opportunity I asked raised my concerns about the so called 'holidays from hell' comments I found on the Internet. Martyn (the rep)was extremely open and honest about what had gone on in the past at the Sidari Village and explained just how hard the staff had worked to overcome there earlier problems. Both my wife, children and myself absolutely loved the place. The staff were always friendly, polite and extremely helpful whenever you spoke to them. The appartments were kept spotless and the views from the balcony were to die for. We all loved the Sidari Village appartments and I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone. When we reached Corfu we only had to wait approximately 15 minutes and we had our bags and had the name of our accomodation. When i heard Sidari Village i was worried at the reports I had read on here. The transfer time was approximately 1 hour. Not good for those who dont like heights as most of the roads overlook cliffs! We arrived at the Sidari village at about 5am. When we arrived we received our keys and TV Remote and the minibus (Brand New) Seats 9 (Including driver - the 2 drivers are the lovliest men you could hope to meet) took us up to our apartments. The minibus works from 8am til 12pm with only a 20 minute break at 4.40pm. (It never disappeared on us the whole week we were there!) The apartments were set into the hillsdie and were newly painted blue and yellow. When we walked into our apartment you were in the kitchen. Which included 4 cupboards, a fridge, 2 hobs, microwave, sandwich toaster and kettle. Table and chairs. Ideal for our self catering holiday. Although not needed as the resort is excellent with lots of local and international food to try. The bedrooms had 2 single beds, built in wardrobes, bedside cabinets, dressing table and mirror with stool. The living room was set out the same but with 2 chairs instead of beds. The bedroom and living room had doors which opened up onto a large balcony which overlooked Sidari, the beach and the "Sidari Strip" as it is called. The balcony had 2 tables, 5 chairs and a washing line.Very handy! The bathroom was basic but very clean. The apartments were cleaned every day apart from Sunday. Martyn the My Travel rep welcomed us at 11am the next morning at the pool bar. We had a full english breakfast here for 2.90 euros (About £2). There are 2 pool tables and an air hockey table next to the bar area. Plenty of tables and chairs and a small stage and dance floor for the kids. Music is played all day (9.30am - 6.30pm). Word of advice - Do not book trips through your holiday rep - There are plenty of tour operators on the sidari strip (Main road). We found the best value for money was with "Value Plus Travel" next door to the bowling alley. While in Corfu we booked the East Coast Cruise for 8 euros each. This took us on a day cruise to little harbours and bays around the east coast of Corfu. We visited Nissaki Bay (White Pebble Beach) really clear waters and we went snorkelling here - Excellent! There was also the choioce to go into an underwater cave. We also booked to go to Aqualand for 22 euros each including transfer which takes around 1 hour. The park is excellent with 38 different slides, lots to eat and lots for kids to do. If you are staying in the Sidari village make sure you visit Albatros on the beach (Walk down the hill from Sidari Village turn right and then left just after Falcon Bar (this bar plays new release movies and has great quizzes - but quite small) Walk straight ahead and your on the beach. You will find Albatros here. We went paragliding as a duo - What an amazing experience! We tried a lot of bars but usually ended up going to the Falcon Bar and Calypso Bar (Across the road from each other - They even share the same DJ, DJ Martin) and also show new movies. They have Bacardi Breezers, WKD's, Vodka Redbulls and others all on offer at 2.50 euors each (About £1.80) Our advice is to look around for the best deals on food. We found a "Hungry Boy" breakfast which included 2 sausages, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, chips, toast, butter, jam, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, fresh orange juice and a cup of tea/coffee for 4 euros (About £2.80). There is also a McDonalds for everyone out there who is missing it. The weather was also quite good for the time of year. About 26/7 degrees most of the time. It only rained one morning and cleared up at dinner time. The wind did get quite bad on the last few nights but once you were on the strip you could not feel it as the bars sheltered you from both sides of the street. Overall we had an excellent holiday and would DEFINETELY go back to SIDARI VILLAGE. I dont know where the person stating that the staff do not smile got that from as everyone was always so cheerful! Even the cleaners always had a smile for you and the ladies on reception were lovely! We only got back last week and im already looking at how much it would cost to go back to Sidari and Sidari Village we loved it that much! Ideal for both couples and families, whether you want to relax or have an active holiday theres so much to do! The apartment we stayed in was quite spacious as it was a 2 bedroom one, quite clean however try moving furniture to see the dirt, but towels not left every day. The entertainment was rather boring, we were glad we weren't inclusive so we were able to go to the local bars instead, having said that, some eating places are rather dodgy, BOuRNIS which is on the sea front is best to be avoided, my husband was sick for nearly 2 days after having a lamb kebab from there! The best place we found to eat was a italian pizza place in the Canal Amour, you can see their kitchen and the food was the best. For me, this holiday was all about two weeks away with the family to relax and recharge the batteries. All we needed was a change of scenery, some sun, a pool, a sandy beach, clear warmish water and a good variety of Taverna's to try out on an evening. Sidari, in Northwest Corfu, ticked all the boxes. We travelled with Manos (My Travel) and the transfer from the airport was reasonable, taking just about an hour after hanging around for the bags and the coach for a while. Sidari Village apartments are a complex of 17 accommodation blocks built into the side of a hill. Fortunately, we had a ground floor apartment in one of the lowest blocks, so there was no hill climbing! For those not so fortunate, there was a minivan shuttle bus that constantly made the trip up and down the hill. I did the walk once to take some photos and would recommend the bus for the trip up!!! The rooms were a little basic, but didn't bother us after the first couple of days. The kitchenette was virtually none existent (small fridge, two electric hobs, a microwave and a sink - no toaster). The bathroom was small (shower basin, sink and toilet). The beds in the main room were hard and those in the kid's room were glorified sofa beds, although comfier than the main beds. The A/C was good, but only on at certain times of the day and only worked when your key fob was in its slot next to the door. After being on all night the rooms were quite chilly. The complex offered a good variety of facilities, including an excellent pool, a good pool snack bar, a well stocked/priced supermarket and security boxes behind reception. The pool area contained quite a few sun beds, but not that many fixed sun shades that offered protection from the sun all day round. As a result, there was the usual early morning stampede for the best beds. If you are planning on spending all day around the pool and want constant shade be prepared to stake your claim around 0800, even though the pool doesn't open until 0930! The pool closes at 1830 each day. The pool snack bar is recommended, especially for breakfast (a full English fry up cost us ?2.90, which is around £2). The entertainment was typical package holiday stuff, with aqua aerobics, water polo and killer pool during the day, with a kids disco in the evening and pretty awful singing by the would be West End stars or holiday reps as they are better known. The walk to the Taverna's and the beach wasn't too far, taking less than 10 minutes. The nearest beach was the best in my opinion. It is a narrow strip of sandy beach running around the bay, with shallow water of a reasonable temperature. There are lots of sun beds (?7.50/day for 2 beds and a sun shade) and lots of water sports options (canoes, pedaloes, banana and ring rides, etc.). There were changing cubicles and the toilets were in beach bars. The Canal d'Amour beaches although pretty are very small, catering for only a few dozen people at most. The variety of Taverna's and bars are all located along the main road that runs along the coastline. When you reach this road from the Sidari Village Apartments you are virtually in the middle, so the choice each evening is simply turn left or turn right. Turning left (heading towards the Canal d'Amour) is the quieter option, offering a wider variety of evening meal choice and a handful of bars showing Sky Sports, UK soaps and the latest box office movies. Turning right offers wall-to-wall food and drink options, with people on the street trying to entice you into their place. It is more hectic and the food isn't as good in my opinion. We thought the best places for food were Mythos (George's Taverna - traditional Greek + English), Cactus Jack's (Tex-Mex), The Rose Garden (traditional Greek + English) and China Town (Chinese), which were all to the left. Mythos is highly recommended, we ate there four times with each time being spot on. The Greek food is awesome, especially Moussaka, Kleftiko, Souvlaki, Stamna, Stifado and Sofrito. The Lagoon Bar was the first bar we came to when leaving the apartments each night and was great for movies, quizzes and other entertainment. Beyond Sidari, we hired a car and visited Aqualand (1 hour South), Kassiopi (40 minutes East) and Agios Georgios (1 hour West). Aqualand is a fantastic water park with plenty to do all day. Kassiopi is a very nice harbour town and we took a cruise to a local sandy beach. Agios Georgios is a nightmare to reach on some of the worst roads I've ever driven on, but is a very picturesque bay with a nice beach front. All-in-all it was a great holiday and our highlights, apart from the weather, were definitely the lazy days by the pool/beach, the water park and the food. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sidari Gardens Village - Sidari Operator and Date: (Airtours Direct) Airtours - October 2004 Opinion submitted in Nov 2004 by : Jessie Redmond - Chelsea (41, 41, 13) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: well not long back from sidari village and after worrying lots from a few reviews on here i can say honestly i loved sidari village! This is the worst resort I have ever visited - in fact i can't believe tour operators are selling holidays to this place and getting away with it. This was my first time to the island of Corfu and probably my last. We arrived at night time at sidari village and told to line up to collect our room keys and t.v remote control and have our all inclusive bracelets attached to us. Whilst doing this our suitcases were driven up cardiac hill by minibus to our rooms as there was no way you would be able to pull one up. As a nurse I worried every day when I saw elderly guests struggling up the hill praying that one didn't collapse in front of me! (however a minibus which seats 5 people does ferry you up and down the hill until midnight) I do respect the man who did this job- 12 hours a day! on arrival to the appartment which i didn't think much of we went to bed after a day of travelling. I couldnt understand why there was waterproof sheets on our bed? maybe they knew something we didn't? the next morning i went into the kitchen and slipped on a big pool of water which was leaking from the fridge. after using all of the hotel towels to dry up the water i was hoping the maid would replace them - yeah right! anyway forgot about that and tried to enjoy the rest of the day. We were informed by the operator that this hotel was ideal for couples wanting a relaxing, but fun holiday?? Maybe couples who were intent on getting plastered every day on free ale with lots of uncontrollable, screaming children running around was what they meant to say? went to the 'beach ' for the day which was filthy with packs of stray dogs strolling up to you when sunbathing, and occassionally having the odd dump here and there- lovely! on the third day of the holiday i was violently sick and i believe that it was food poisoning(keep away from the pink lamb!)so we never ate in the restaurant again after that as my stomach rolled at the thought of veal, cheese croquets and meat pie! oh and sprouts!my day was going form bad to worse when i plugged the kettle in and nearly blew myself up. Sparks went flying and there was a massive bang as all the electricity in the appartment went off! we went to the hotel bar on the first night expecting there to be some good entertainment for the adult gusets as there wasn't much for the adults to do in the day- but oh no it was just like butlins(everything was aimed at the kids having fun) After drinking our cheap ' all inclusive' tastes like detergent alcoholic drinks we thought we would see wat the nightlife in Sidari town was like. Anything to get away from 6 year olds doing the music man and getting their faces painted. as the rep had told us sidari town was brilliant for nightlife I was shocked at what her interpretation of the word brilliant meant. Lots of karaoke bars, english bars and thats about it really.my home town is livlier! The only place that got busy was a pub called the red lion which put on entertainment the best act a drag queen (Stevie Spit) who was hilarious and should be working somewhere better than Sidari in my opinion. we ended up going here most nights as there was nothing else to do. when we did go to another bar we got spooked by the locals in there who did nothing but stare at us. and then we had to face the walk back to the hotel up a dark dirt track which stunk of sewage, and up cardiac hill! The staff were obviously told not to smile or make any conversation and this is what they did! This was the first all inclusive holiday i have been on and thought it was dreadful. We tried to make the best of it and laugh about it but please take my advice and stay clear. I have paid less money for other holidays and have been to better resorts and cleaner hotels. Last year I went to Cyprus and it beats corfu hands down, much cleaner, better beaches and pleasant people. the only good thing about Sidari was the weather(and im not joking!)at least im still here to tell the tale :) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sidari Gardens Village - Sidari Operator and Date: (Panorama Discounts) Panorama Sept 04 Opinion submitted in June 2005 by : Sue (40,39,38,37,17,16,8,8,8,1,4mth Resort Rating: Below Average Accommodation Rating: Poor My/Our Holiday Review: Journey To Sidari long and harrowing, through mountain roads with steep drops. Sidari Garden Village very dated looking apartment blocks from outside, set in a very very steep hill, walked up once glad to never do again. We were very lucky with apartments at bottom. Apartments inside were the most basic I have every seen and looked like dungeons. Kitchen was the entrance hall consisting of a sink unit with 2 electic rings built into the sink draining board, a kettle and fridge and a woodern table with 2 chairs. This was all inclusive but I belive it is self catering from 2005, how with these facilities I do not know. My 8 min bottle sterliliser took 55 mins there. There were 2 bedrooms no lounge. The apartments were cold and smelt musty, towels etc were inpossible to dry and there were only 3 towel changes in 2 weeks, we complained that this was not what it said in brochure but was told we could not have any more.I returned home to find I had a case full of mouldy clothes. My babys cot colapsed the 1st night, it was changed for a very dirty looking travel cot with a mouldy matress. Food wasnt nice, drinks don,t ask for shorts, brandy, vodka, whisky, etc they just give you the same, oozo. Pool area nice. Entertainment on hol we expect to be tacky but this was dia, for a start they advertise these apartments for families, the entertainment was up 2 flights of stairs and parents stood at the top to prevent toddlers falling down. The entertainment consisted of 4 reps obviously not enertainment reps, trying to sing and dance each night, I was embarassed for them. It was all inclusive and on arrival night the bar would be full, by the night after it would once again be empty. Kids entertainment was nil. Also although all companies there were part of My Travel only airtours had use of kids clubs. Sidari itself was not for families with young kids. There are no pavements and they drive fast, there are also sewage ditches along the side of the road so you are avoiding them and the traffic. My little boy jumped in away from a speeding car and ended up waste high in the ditch. (By the way the place stinks of sewage). Asked rep where there was a greek resturant and was told would need to travel because they only do english food in Sidari. Only good point was the beach, it was lovely. I dont expect much from package hols they are all usually bog standard but this was awful and has put me off every booking another package hol. This place was run on a shoe string. Some of our problems were caused by the direct hols rep who was worse than useless which we have taken up with the company. We had been told our apartment had 2 bedrooms and a lounge that could be used for sleeping in which was very important as we had one male who needed his own room. What we actually got was 2 bedrooms and a lobby with the cooker in so he ended up sleeping there with no room and no privacy. Also although we were all adults 3 of our beds were camp beds which were very uncomfortable and not at all what we expected. The rep and the hotel refused to sort this out so we had to put up with it. After day 3 4 out of 5 of us were very ill, which is no fun when you are sharing a bathroom, it seems we were not the only ones. I agree with other reviews that the evening entertainment was terrible. It was all for kids with hardly any adult entertainment at all. Being all inclusive we asked one day for packed lunches to take on a trip we had booked with a company off the complex. We were told that we could only have packed lunched if we were going on a trip sold by the hotel reps, which of course were twice the price. I have never known this anywhere else before. The holiday complex was great, very friendly staff. The room we had was a studio although I did not allow my 2 year old to sleep up the stairs as we do not have stairs at home and was unsure how he would od if he wakened in the middle of the night for the toilet. Room was very clean and the maids very friendly. The poolside bar was great my son enjoyed asking the staff for ice cream chips and pizza. THe kids pool and play park were always clean and tidy, staff always tidying around the areas. The entertainment was great. Lee was brill, Kim and Deano were good aswell. Everyone took to my son and it was a great holiday for all of us. The food was great the first week we were there but fell a little bit in the second week. All in all it was a great holiday but I would not go back as it will not be all inclusive next year, what a shame. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sidari Gardens Village - Sidari Operator and Date: (Airtours Direct) Airtours - August 2004 Opinion submitted in Sept 2004 by : Mike, Lisa, Nicky, Sam & Charlotte - Stoke Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: We have just arrived back from one of the best holidays we have ever had. The accommodation was very clean and the maid service superb. The Food at this facility was impeccable. Many different varieties and presentation was second to none. The Airtours rep's work hard and although two of them left whilst we were there, Lee did a sterling job on his lonesome. Maybe a little more committment from the punters would have made the daytime activities better but you must play Waterpolo during the day if you go to Sidari Village, it was great fun. Food during the day was great to keep the hunger at bay, Irene (Daytime food Waitress) was a Gem, What a lovely personality. All in all I would reccomend this place to any young families for a fun, safe time. Sidari town was fine too, with many youngters 15-20 having good fun. The bars and taverners cater for all ages and If you're fit enough you can dance throughout the night!. I saw no trouble whatsoever during our stay and I felt very safe in allowing my 15 yr old daughter to spend time with friends she met during our visit around the town. Would we go back... We were not wrong. Children were left running around like maniacs unattended whilst parents joined in with stand- up bingo, and the same torturous masquerade every night whilst enjoying the watered-down, flat alcohol that even us as self-catering and not all inclusive were served. Please, just stop singing- it's painful and stop being so patronising towards the guests getting up to have a go!! how many times can you play jellytastic in 1 night- it's still ringing in my ears!!! the pool snacks were disgusting although 1 day we went for lunch at the apartment and found this satisfactory although expensive compared to the restaurants on the front which were much nicer and much more hospitable and value for money. ensure you take mosquito repellent even though the mosquitos seem to be immune to it. dont visit the onsite doctor ( as advised to by the rep) as i was charged £75 to have him put a bandage on my son and told to go to hospital for an x-ray when we got home. we still havent got over the hill, and although a mini-bus is provided, one of the drivers had a tendency to go missing or just drive straight past you, and it was a nightmare getting on and off with a baby in a pram. luckily i took a travel cot as the one provided was full of mould and i had to bath her in a washing up bowl. If you go down to the front, hold your nose because the stench coming back of open drains is unbearable and be sure you are back before dark because venturing through the swamp is highly unpleasant and very dark. We had to pay extra for air conditioning, the shower was like being stabbed but then so soft in other places, and hot water was only provided at certain times of a day. the kettle had mould in, the toaster didnt work, but the towels were changed regularly and the maids came every day and were friendly. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sidari Gardens Village - Sidari Operator and Date: Air tours July 2004 Opinion submitted in July 2004 by : Linda Hammond -Staffordshire (44,43,15,12) Resort Rating: Good Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: Sidari Village hotel was everything we had hoped for. Accommodation was excellent, clean and bright. Staff in the hotel were marvellous, very patient with some rude, unappreciative British people, and they weren't all kids! We had been a little concerned about what we would be eating as we had never been on an all inclusive holiday before, but were pleasantly surprised, lots of variety and good healthy choices as well as lots of chips etc for picky kids. Restaurant manager really has his finger on the pulse and the staff worked very hard. Air tours reps were great with the younger kids, especially Claire from Ireland, our one concern was that there was very little on site for the younger teens, a disco or karaoke exclusively for them would have kept them out of the bars in Sadari where even the 12 year olds were served alcohol, some children were very drunk very early in the evenings. Sadari after dark isn't a very safe place for young teens, male or female. We had a great holiday and booked a number of trips in Sadari, much cheaper than through the reps, although the timings of Philips trips was subject to change at no notice so you had to be very flexible, and coaches didn't always turn up on time. That said a courtesy bus did run up and down from 8:00 till midnight for those who couldn't face the walk. We were in block 7 - almost at the top of the complex - Apartments very spacious with plenty of cupboard and drawer space - facilities for self-catering were not fantastic, probably as the complex is aimed at All-inclusive. Nice big pool with plenty of sunbeds and a decent sized pool bar. Although we were self-catering, could 'upgrade' to all-in on a daily basis for ?20 per adult which we did once, making the poolside snacks and drinks a reasonable price. The beech (5 mins or so) is very nice - lots of sunbeds and a very calm, warm sea. You can have a ride on a banana or in rings, but thought that was quite pricey (e13 for a go in the rings..!) Plenty of nice bars and places to eat, many backing onto the beach which is nice. Worth checking out 'the three little pigs' who have a decent menu and the waiters do some greek dancing, smash plates and spray some form of flamible liquid around the stone flone and set light to it which is quite entertaining. The walk to the town down the dusty road is pitch black at night, so not good if you are on your own. Due to the road being surrounded by 'fields' "keep away from the foilage!" became a trusty phrase often heard coming from my boyfriend's lips as you WILL get bitten! FOOD:veal in sauce, veal and rice, veal burgers, veal curry - if you like veal, this is the place for you, as there was veal at both lunch and dinner each day. you can try greek food or theres also a small selection of english food with a greek twist - watch out for the mash potato!if your like me and that food doesnt tickle your fancy theres a separate kids buffet where you will find fish fingers, pizza and burgers. ACCOMMADATION:we had a studio with 1 bed up a small flight of wooden stairs and 2 beds on the main floor. the studio was only clean on the bits you could see, if you looked under the bed or behind draws you would find dirt and mould. the kitchen was clean though we had a kettle, toastie maker, fridge and 2 rings. the toastie maker came in VERY handy to make jam toasties!!even though we were all inclusive, we needed to make our own food sometiomes as the food wasnt always suitable for everyone! STAFF: our rep Martin was friendly, but you could never find him! the airtours reps on the other hand were FABULOUS!they were always there to help, no matter which tour operator you were with. JOHNNY and HIS GIRLFRIEND were lovely. they were great with the kids and adults alike. the kids disco was brilliant and most of the adults enjoyed it too as you would find them joining in the dance routines in their seats at the bar! DOCTOR: DO NOT GO TO THIS MAN!! my boyfriend got a swollen eye ion his second day and couldnt see a thing out of it as it was so bad. we decided to go to the doctor onsite and he gave him and injection, a syringe of creme and 3 tablets. he told us to come bak the next day to see how he was getting on. we went back and it had cleared up, this was when he dropped the bombshell - it cost us E280 for the medication and treatment. he had not told us this earlier and now he wanted us to cough up. we had gold insurance and asked the reps what to do as we thought the insurance would cover it. they told us we had to pay him and wed get our money back in England. bearing in mind this was now our 3rd day and we wouldnt have much money left for other things if we paid him. we told the doctor that we could not afford to pay him and we told our rep. our rep sorted it out and the doctor got an agreement from our insurance company that he would get paid in two weeks. up until the end of our holiday the doctor kept coming knocking on our studio door, ringing us and even coming upto us when were playing pool and kept demanding his money even though the insurance company had promised to pay him. EVEN the reps have reported him many a time as they feel he treats the guests unfairly! TOWN: most of the town is made up of bars and restaurants with only 3 or 4 shops. the town is mainly situated along the main road. during the night the town come alive with bar touts shoving leaflets into your hands for bogof offers and most bars offer a free shot with your 1st drink. during the EURO semi final and final, the town was absolutely buzzing! everyone in the whole of sidari was out and the noise and atmosphere was imense! CRIME: my boyfriends wallet got stolen from my bag next to the hotel pool on the day before we laft. the wallet was at the bottom of my bag and there was his watch and other things in there that that didnt take though. we told the reps, as all the money we had was in his wallet and in his bank account and they had taken his bank card. the reps just put an annnoiuncement on the microphone but did nothing else. we had no money for even water for 2 days and there was nothing they did! overall the hotel was not what we were expecting for our money and we feel we would not go again. the resort of sidari is perfect for people of our age as there are planty of bars and clubs and its all VERY VERY cheap!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sidari Gardens Village - Sidari Operator and Date: (Panorama Discounts) Panorama - July 2004 Opinion submitted in July 2004 by : Melanie Manton - (26,26,25) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: Well what can I say, If you like Chips & Giant wasps plus being bitten to shreads by Mosquitoes you will love staying at the Sidari Village. No really, me and my Sidari girlies had an excellent holiday and it has been one of the best we have been on. The accomadation was great, we were put in a block right by the pool as we requested, which was very lucky as the accomodation is built on a steep hill and other people had to go up via mini bus to get to there rooms. We got a duplex appartment that was ment to sleep about 6 people, so we were in our element as there was only 3 of us with all that room with a huge balcony, kitchen (even though we were AI)and a bed each instaed of one person haveing to sleep on a sofa bed, but we had 2 of those as well in the room we used as a lounge (2nd bedroom). The rooms got made up every day but our towels were only changed on the 5th day of our 7 night stay which was one of the down sides. The food was quite good and had a selection to suit all tastes and the pool bar had a good variety of snacks, alcholic and non alcholic drinks. As for the staff I found mostly the men to be friendly and woman acted like they had PMT and the reps from Airtours that provided entertainment did a fab job entertaining both the kiddies and us grown ups. The swimming pool was large and free form and very clean, so big thumbs up there and if you fancey going to the beach like we did, well thats only a 5 minute walk. The beach itself was calm with shallow warm waters and soft sand. As for the strip in Sidari where it all happens, that was brillent offering a huge selection of bars, clubs, shops, restuarants and its very own Mc Donalds. We ended up in Mikeys bar every night as they had Kareoke plus there very own Austin Powers look a like by the door who made us laugh. We ate out once in Sidari as we went AI, so if you love Chinese food as much as we all do, We recommend China Town, the food was fantastic. Don't beleive the negative reviews you read and be put off, just go and enjoy yourselves as much as we all did and make your own mind up. Our first impression was that the complex looked good. Our luggage was then taken and left out side our rooms by the little white van and then we were picked up and taken up the VERRY steep hill in a little blue van thats when we realised our change in accomidation was definately not like for like.We had booked two appartments next door to each other one for the 53,50& 7 year old and the other for us the 36,6& 2 year old which we got so thought this was great but when we opened the door to our apparment thats when thing started to look glum. There was a tiny kitchen wich had two cooking rings,a kettle,a toaster and a small fridge freezer. There was no place for us to sit down to eat our meals which was unual for self catering accomidation.we then walked on into the bedroom and saw two beds and a stair case leadind up to a third bed which was not safe for either of my kids to sleep in cause if they happened to get up during the night they and fell down there they would have broke there neck. The pool area at Sadari Village is also not ideal for my family due to the fact i have two young children and my mum doesnt swim at all,i say this because on the day we decided to venture to the pool we found the deepend to measure 8ft and the shallow end 4ft deep, then there is a 20ft gap between the big pool and the baby pool, not only that there has been a bar built in the middle which makes it impossible for the whole family to spend the day relaxing around the pool, so needless to say that was the last time we used our hotel for anything apart from sleeping in. We would also recommend going somewhare else for your entertainment,I had to sit on my balcony and grit my teeth and listen to the same thing every night for two weeks and believe me it was very poor. ON THE UPSIDE the resort of Sadari is wondrful and i will definately return, the beach was excellent, the water was shallow for miles and the sand was lovely and soft, the restaurants(especially the three little piggies)were amazing and we only had one bad meal and that was at the olympic, the waiters were friendly but the food just wasnt as good as every whare else and if you do go dont sit out the back because you get eaten alive by flies.Go to a pub called the Arena it is lovely not too loud but if you are up for a party then head for the calypso it can get pretty wild. If you dont want to be stuck by your hotel all day you can go to any pool on the island they are all free so its a great way to meet people.I HAD ATRUELY AMAZING HOLIDAY AND WILL RETURN SOON BUT NOT TO THE SADARI VILLAGE!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sidari Gardens Village - Sidari Operator and Date: (MyTravel Direct) My Travel June 2004 Opinion submitted in July 2004 by : Ruth - Cardiff (48, 24) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Opinion: I had to add my review here because I can't believe some of the bad reviews this complex has had. Yes there is a steep hill but there is free transportation until midnight and the drivers are friendly and courteous. We found the majority of the staff to be friendly and very polite I'm smiling just thinking of all the Your Welcome's that were said after I said thank you. Our maid was lovely she even managed to teach me good morning and hi in Greek - sorry I can't spell them! The whole complex was clean and the pool was great for swimming, not good for youngsters but there was a separate small pool for them. No problems with getting a sunbed, unless you wanted one with a sun shade. Our rep Laura was very friendly and went out of her way to speak to the guests. The entertainment isn't up to much but it's pretty standard for this sort of holiday after all they do need to keep the kids amused. The food was far better than I expected after reading some of the reviews on here.. is not 5* but there was a huge variety every night with just about all tastes catered for in my opinion. I loved Corfu and the resort the beach was large, soft sand and shallow water brilliant for little ones. Just round to the left of the main Sidari beach is a the Canal D'Amour a very small inlet which I loved - great for swimming. I'd recommend the evening boat trip to Corfu Town. Do remember mosquito repellent it's needed big time! If you do forget the shop on the complex sells that and many other things and it's prices are much the same as other shops in the area. The hotel was clean and much nicer than expected. We had a room with 2 sleeping areas so the kids could sleep upstairs and it was open plan. The room had all necessary facilities including a fridge and a bathroom with a good shower. Having stayed in Greece before we were really impressed with the standard of the accomodation which was not as basic as some we have stayed in. The pool area was well laid out and the main pool is huge although there is no shallow end. The children's pool is quite small and would get crowded at busy times. The food was great with loads of choice and you could eat Greek or English. There were always lots of salads and a children's section. Our only complaint is that the entertainment was fairly limited with the same format every night, but the reps were all friendly. Also, yes, the hill is steep but we all managed to walk it without too much difficulty and the mini-bus was available all day for those who couldn't. The beach at canal d'amour is well worth a visit and the Kahlua bar nearby has lovely seats to relax in with a drink. Sidari itself is busy and full of bars and shops.
