Kassiopi Hotels and Apartments A - Z Amalia Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: Thomson Holidays
Opinion submitted in July 2007 by : Danielle + Ben (19+20) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Good My/Our Holiday Review: When you get off the bus you have to walk down a gravel path to the apartments so be careful if you have a cloth suitcase! When we arrived at out apartment (number 4) there was a very bad burning smell but no one knew where it was coming from! Also the ceiling in the bathroom was a bit mouldy and now and again there would be the odd drip from the room above! Rooms were very basic with just enough plates and forks for 2 people! Wash the plates etc because no one else does! The fridge didn't keep drinks that cold! You also have to buy your own toilet roll! You will defiantly need to hire a fan from the bar which is 1 Euro a day! The pool and pool bar were always clean and tidy! The bar serves food during the day which is nice and every Tuesday there is a BBQ! There are plenty of sun beds and umbrellas! There is no real reception area! There is a pay phone and a few sheets with information on and that is it! If you need anything ask the pool bar staff but they are not around in the night so if you get locked out or anything I don't know what you are supposed to do! The maids come around every 4-5 days to clean and change the beds once a week! We tried most of the restraunts in the area and they are all quite cheap and the food is nice. The Chinese restraunt is nice but the portions are tiny! Don's and Bolero were our favorites! Watch out for the shot they give you after dinner in Don's and Kassiopi Star! Yuk! Cocktail Bars are everywhere and we tried most of them to! Didn't pay more than 4 Euros for a cocktail! We booked Excursions from Comic and went to Aqualand, a sandy beach (as most of the beaches around are rocky) and the evening trip to Corfu Town. Aqualand was 28 Euros and to be honest I thought It was a little over rated. Kalamaki beach was nice but you have to pay 7.5 Euros for 2 sun beds. The evening trip to Corfu Town was nice but you only get about 4 hours there which isn't enough as there are shops everywhere! You got what you paid for with this hoilday! The holiday wasn't that bad but I wouldn't go back to this hotel or area again! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amalia Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Thomas Cook Direct) Thomas Cook-2006 Opinion submitted in June 2006 by : Wayne Thompson-Manchester (41,38,7,2 ) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Good My/Our Holiday Review: Kassiopi in our opinion is a great resort for couples or families with young children. It is a small resort located approx 1 Hour from the airport. There are plenty of bars and restaurants you are paying around about 2-2.50 euros for a beer which is usually served in an iced glass. The beaches in the resort are not sandy but pebbly although in our case we spent most free time around the pool. There is a dive centre/shop within the resort for those of you that want to try snorkeling or a scuba course (remember you cannot scuba within 24 hours of flying home). There are plenty of traditional greek tavernas far to many to name but our favourite eating place was the Janis located near the beach and if timed right has great sunsets on the balcony. Although it was more expensive than most places the food and service was excellent. If you are going to try make it in the early part of your holiday so you can make your own mind up and it gives you chance to try again. There is also a chinese restaurant which was nice although we found the portions to be on the small side. A lot of bars do quiz nights and you cannot fail to notice if there is a match on. Kostas bar on the way to the harbour do unmissable greek dancing every night at 10 pm but get there earlier in order to get a good seat and the bar prices are the same as most other bars. The apartments are family owned and run. They are basic but are cleaned regularly.Don't expect a microwave but they have everything else needed. The pool is small but clean with a nice bar area. The apartments are located down a tarmacadam path which you will have to wheel you cases down but on the plus side you are away from what little traffic noise there is. Along this path is Dons which serves excellent Stifado. Whilst there we hired a car to get us around the island and after seeing the other resorts Kassiopi seemed the best.Beware though the roads are not the best and a lot are only a car width apart. Corfu town is worth a visit as is Paliokonstrictas (spelling is terrible but you will know which resort i mean). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amalia Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Sunset Discounts) Sunset - June 2005 Opinion submitted in July 2005 by : Maggie, Moira - Scotland (39, 31) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: Kassiopi is the ideal resort for those who want to chill out, enjoy the sunshine and a leisurely evening without the hassle that often goes with more lively resorts. That said, there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from in Kassiopi. Our favourite bar was Kostas. The greek dancing is a must see. We felt the bar prices were reasonable. Also the toilets in the bars were much cleaner than we had expected. Sometimes you never know what you'll get in Greece with the bins often overflowing with dirty toilet roll. We didn't encounter that at all. A lot of the bars have quizzes on, but these finish about 11pm. We were there at the beginning of the season and found many of the bars started to get quiet around 12.30 - 1am, there are one or two still more lively at that time. There is a club at the harbour (Passion) but we didn't go there. The resort suited us, but if you're looking for somewhere more lively, this probably isn't for you. There are a number of excellent restaurants. One of our favourites was Janis, in a unique location right next to the beach. Somewhere you can watch the sun go down. Also The Three Brothers served us a wonderful meal. Located at the harbour. Take plenty of mosquito repellant with you as you'll need it! Our apartments were excellent. I was surprised there wasn't an entry on here already! The were very clean, airy and the poolside was quiet and spotless. It was family run and everyone was very friendly. We had to walk 5 minutes with our cases as the bus can't get up the narrow street to the apartments. Only downside was there was no air-conditioning in the Amalia. Got a bit hot in the evening when we were blasting the hairdrier! But if you can handle the heat, it was fine. Our rep was there a lot (about 5 times during our week-long stay), but we didn't really need her as we had no complaints! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andreas Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Thomas Cook Direct) Thomas Cook - August 2006 Opinion submitted in March 2007 by : Tracey McNulty (40,41,16) Resort Rating: Good Accommodation Rating: Poor My/Our Holiday Review: If you go to Kassiopi I would not recommend the Andreas Apartments. When i booked i was told there would be air-con upon arrival discovered there was none. This is a must in the middle of August. The apartments were dingy and drab a complete makeover is in need.We stayed in room 4 with a lovely veiw if you like looking at a sixty foot wall. The bolier in the bathroom blew up leaving us with no hot water. My daughter lived out of her suitcase for two weeks as old blankets had been stored in the wardrobes and they really did smell.Wild cats are expected in Greece but not every time you open the door or sit down to eat. The rep was of no help at all and was not interestedin helping us.This is the worst holiday i have ever been on and i will not be booking with Thomas Cook ever again. The resort of Kassiopi is very nice with bars and resaraunts ,a boat trip to Corfu Town is a good day out.If you want a beach go to Roda or Sidari. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andreas Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: Direc Holidays/Mytravel-May 2006 Opinion submitted in May 2006 by : Owen Rafferty-47+47 Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: This was our first time in Greece and Kassoipi was a great choice. Weather was great for the 2nd week in may not a drop of rain. Andreas apts were lovely front outside and good inside. Fairly basic with our studio having a double bed with adequate kitchen and bathroom. Although we dont do anything in the kitchen on hol apart from chill the beer and boil the kettle for coffee! The shower room was strange with a shower tray and no door or curtain, just a drain in the floor to let the water away. Resort was very pretty with a definate village feel, lots of good bars and restaurants. we ate out every night, 3 brothers, Kassopi Star, and others whose names evades me! Most nights a good meal with some wine came to about 30-35 euros, although we only would have 2 courses with bread. You could spend more and you could spend a lot less as there were meal deals in most places, giving 3 courses with a glass of wine for as little as 8 euros. Drink prices were avearge 500ml bottle of beer 3 euros and a spirit mixer about 3.50. If you want Guinness, John Smiths or Strongbow these were available but nearer 4 euros, although why you would go to Greece to watch football on big screens, demand fish n chips and drink John Smiths I cant imagine, live a little try the local food and drink. We hired a car and I found the driving very easy especially in the central mountain region, so dont be afraid. We took the boat to Corfu town with Cosmic tours 15 euros each return. Cosmic is easily found in the vilage. Cosmic had a lot of different tours and very good prices, I reckon about half what the tour company was selling them for. Corfu town was good but all the small shops in the old town sold all the same gear so after half an hour it became all samey. There is a fish market in Corfu town everyday which is an experience, also while you are there sit and have a drink in the Liston which is the main meeting place and people watch. Corfu town is not to be missed but if you have been to Palma city in Majorca you cant help but make comparisons, Palma is better. All in all a great holiday and we will be back to Corfu but not to Kassiopi as life is short and I want to see a lot more different places before I pop off. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andreas Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Direct Holidays) Direct Holidays - September 2005 Opinion submitted in Oct 2005 by : Jim & Jean (50) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Opinion: Just back from a great 2 week holiday. Apartments very clean, maid service great. One problem in the apartment sorted out within 30 minutes of reporting it. An unexpected bonus of free air conditioning! Ideally situated for shingle beach and all bars and restaurants. Set back a little from a main road but still very quiet. Kassiopi lively but with a good mix of ages. Enough restaurants to each out at a different place every night. Didn't have a bad meal in any. Highly recommended. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andreas Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Sunset Discounts) Sunset - May 2005 Opinion submitted in June 2005 by : Simon Trodd - Winchester (41,39,14,10) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: We felt we couldn't wait until August for our holiday to Rhodes, so we booked a last minute half term week in Corfu. This was our third visit to Corfu, and after arriving at the Andreas about 10pm, we dumped our luggage and walked into Kassiopi and found it to be a pleasant relaxing experience, We had visited Kassiopi in August before and it had seemed very lively, but this was just right. The Andreas appts not to be confused with the same named hotel on the main road were very clean and the kitchenette had everything you might need. We had a two bedroom appt and a nice balcony that overlooked the front. The appts were situated in a quiet narrow lane off the main road into the harbour. We only had to walk minutes round the corner to share the Amalia swimming pool, which was lovely and not to overcrowded. Best restaurant we liked was La Luna an Italian eatery, but other Greek Tavernas we ate at were fine. Best place we found on the Island this time was Nisaki a small little fishing village with a great taverna called Mitsos, but after having a wonderful meal and relaxing to dangerous levels i realised i had to drive back to Kassiopi. Best beach this time was Glyfada, sandy and not overcrowded, also Aghios Georgios near Arillas another massive sandy beach with not alot of people around. Top tip: If you are staying in the north of Corfu, and the kids like a waterpark, go to the Acharavi Hydropolis, it is still a very big park and a bit cheaper and quieter than the main one on the island. All in all a great holiday, good weather, good accomodation, nice resort ,do hire a car because after 3 visits we still come across great little places such as Nisaki. My only gripe is Corfu Airport, and i can speak from experience when i say that i have seen better organised road accidents, good luck in August. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andreas Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Direct Holidays) Direct Holidays - August 2004 Opinion submitted in Sept 2004 by : Julie & Alan, Glasgow (34, 33) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: We have just returned from a fortnight's holiday in Kassiopi (still wishing we were there). As I hadn't found any reviews on the Andreas Apartments, was a bit worried at what they would be like, but they turned out to be excellent. The accommodation is located on the road to Acharavi & Roda, near to the beach and only a short walk from the many restaurants and bars. We had a studio apartment which slept three and was spacious with a kitchen area and bathroom with shower. The apartments were cleaned every day except Sundays, with a change of bed linen twice a week and change of towels three times a week. The apartments have air conditioning which says in the brochure you have to pay for it, but luckily enough we didn't have to (maybe that'll change in the future). The pool area is very clean to with a lovely pool and plenty of sunbeds, and because there are only 12 apartments you get to know everyone who is staying there. The Lekkas Taverna across the road from the apartments is good for breakfasts and lunches as there isn't a snack bar at the apartments, and it is also a good place for a nightcap on the way home. It is very cheap and the owners go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The resort itself is excellent, there are lots of restaurants for eating out at night, Little Italy, Boleros (huge portions), Janis (lovely view over beach), Petrinos, and a favourite of ours was the Italian restaurant La Luna which we ate in quite a few nights. There was also a really nice restaurant called Kyma which is down at the harbour, it looks expensive, but the prices are very reasonable. It has beautiful views over the harbour and over to Albania. If you carrying on walking past the Wave Bar it is about 50 metres further on. In the whole fortnight we did not have one bad meal. There are plenty of bars for having a drink in at night and to people watch, and most of the bars have quizzes of some kind on at night. Most nights we ended up in Angelos at the square for their 60s, 70s and 80s quiz. We had a great time in Kassiopi and will definately go back to the Andreas Apartments. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Angeliki Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Direct Holidays) Direct Holidays June 2004 Opinion submitted in June 2004 by : Addison 40's Resort Rating: Average Accommodation Rating: Below Average My/Our Holiday Review: Our review is tainted by the fact that of the seven days we got 4 days rain, thunder and lightning. The apts were 2 star plus but were 1 star really, the complex was good, excellent pool, plenty of loungers and well priced snack bar.Excellent location right in the heart of the resort, but far enough away not to hear any music. The restaurants were good, especially Janis, although more expensive than the others. Recommend Boleros, Strofilia,3 Brothers, Pineros and Porto. Most Bars had music or general knowledge quiz, recommend Barons, Angelos, Visions, Eclipse and Classifico. We only went on one trip with Cosmic Tours, cheaper than rep, just right on main road as you leave lane to apts. Corfu is very green and we got plagued with mosquitos so take repellent. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apollon Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: Olympic - August 2007 Opinion submitted in August 2007 by : Megarry's - 46,43,17,14,10 Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Poor My/Our Holiday Review: We have been island hopping (when young)and holidaying in Greece on and off for the past twenty plus years. This was our second trip to Corfu but 1st to Kassiopi. We loved the resort and felt it was great for everyone in our family. The habour and square have lots of nice resturants and we did not have a bad meal all stay, very reasonable prices and good friendly service. Quite a few bars with the usual quizes, karoke, 60s,70,80s music ect. We ended up in Jasmines most nights which is right opposite the square mostly due to our kids wanting to karoke the night away. It was great though being a very mixed age group and friendly bar staff, we had lots of fun here. Most of the bars seem of the same laid back friendly mode with just enough going on, usually finishing up about 2/2.30pm. The taxi rank was in the square but are a bit hit and miss. If you are staying at the Apollon apts you will need one as the hike back up the hill is really quite daunting although we were forced to do it a quite a few times due to lack of taxis especially during the day (coming back from the beach) there were a few more around in the later part of the evening, and we found ourselves sometimes heading home a bit earlier than we maybe wanted just beacause there was a taxi at the rank. (5 euros per trip to apts.) We did a couple of trips booked through Cosmic in the village who were good, very helpful. One to the sandy beach which was a nice change as beaches in resort are pebbely, although they were great for kids to snorkell. Also trip to local water park Hydropolis for day which included barbeque - very good value 17 euros adults and 12 euros kids - great day out. The Apollon Apts are typical greek accomodation, we stayed in no. 7 which was on the top (3rd) floor at the front.Fantastic, panaramic views down to Kassiopi. It was 2 bedroom with air con (25 euros per week). We found the accomodation to be fine, albeit the kitchen area was quite small in our apt (much bigger in some of the others)this did not worry us as we had no plans to eat in and the fridge and kettle were fine. We didn't even cook breakfast as the cooked breakfast at the Apollon bar was quite nice and only 3.50 euros as for the chef that was totally another matter !! Panos and Debbie look after the apts and run the bar/bar food and we found all written in other reviews before unfortunately to be right on the button. On arrival he comes across very lively, friendly and obliging They have a barbeque on weds. and on cook roast on sundays. We had the barbeque the 1st week, it was very average haven't got a clue how much it cost as we were having drinks and stayed there all night, finally ending up with a bill for 140 Euros - the most we spent in one evening all holiday! Needless to say most guests cottoned on quickly and headed to the town. That said we still often had a beer at the bar on returning in the afternoon or before heading down to town in the evening and breakfast in the morning and just ignored his moods. He was rude to other guests, having a stand up row with one poor woman who had asked him for a lift down to town on the curtiosy bus which he had been doing for her and her family all week.Very uncomfortable and embarrising all round. The icing on the cake came right at the end of our stay when another family that we had become friendly with kindly let us leave our suitcases and vaulables in there room as we had a night flight and were not getting picked up till 1am. On handing the room key back they wanted our cases put by the bar for the day - we did not want to be tied to the bar and choose to leave them were they were, not understanding why this was such a big deal. After we had left for the day he shouted at the husband of the family and told him in no uncertain terms could we use the facilities in their room and would have to use the shower in the bar toilet, which we did, though we didn't see what difference it made - except of course they want you to keep your room on and pay them 25 euros. As said in earlier reviews dosen't make for a very nice, friendly atmosphere or do Olympic any favours, cannot believe they get any return guests. Apts themselves fine ,even the hill could be overcome if you maybe had car hire, nice and peaceful in the olive groves which we personally liked - Would love to go back to Kassiopi most defineatly not to Apollon. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apollon Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Olympic Direct) Olympic Aug 2006 Opinion submitted in September 2006 by : Amanda Gorton 41 38 16 12 Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Poor My/Our Holiday Review: Kassiopi town is lovely the local people are warm and friendly the Restaurants offer some very tasty food ESPECIALLY BOLERO`S which is family run and the food is excellent, they cater for everyone. The Harbour is very pretty day or night.Appollon apts were dirty/smelly/mouldy inside take your own cleaning things as you have to clean it yourself.Floors were`nt swept at all in two wks.We stayed in room 6 at the front, the view was actually stunning it was in fact the only good thing about the apts lots of diy work needed to be done smelly drains nothing for the kids to do other than play in the pool.A VERY steep hill to climb to get back up there at least 1.5km. 150yrds from the apts are in excess of 3 dozen beehives not very nice when your trying to relax around the pool. the hosts, only pleasant if your spending money in their bar as this is their only income.Food was inedible.I really would not class Appollon as self catering more like room only as a kettle and a 3 + 5 inch hot plate is all you get not that i would fancy cooking there anyway. The BBQ was foul, the Bingo and Karaoke non existant. The hosts invite their friends up to spend the day there taking up the sunbeds on a regular basis. I asked Olympic Rep to move us after showing her around our apt pointing out all the horrible things, she agreed that it was unacceptable accomodation then she told me we had to pay more if i wanted to move,i was "speechless".I filled in a complaint form as did lots of other Guests. I have never cried so much and been so unhappy on holiday. Why should we pay so much money to be forced to live like that for 2 wks. My nightmare is over i am now back in England !!!!!!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apollon Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Olympic Direct) Olympic - August 2006 Opinion submitted in September 2006 by : Fegan - Belfast (42, 43, 12) Resort Rating: Good Accommodation Rating: Average My/Our Holiday Review: First of all let me state that this was my first trip to Corfu and previously had ony been to turkey previously (2003) so some of the comments below may need to be taken in the context of this. The Resort - On various websites when checking out this holiday people had commented that Kassiopi was like dream come true and that one visit and you would be hooked for life. If this is true then a lot of people lead sad lives. Yes the resort is relatively quiet with a lack of loud night clubs (A very good thing) but with the exception of the picturesque harbour there is little else asthetically pleasing about the town itself. The town is filled with the usual mixtures of bars, eateries and tacky tourist shops but in its favour doesnt appear to have the usual amount of drunks, and rowdies that you would see in the more commercial resorts of Kavos etc. The Beach - Not much of one I'm afraid and very much peebles. The sea however is lovely , clear and well worth a dip but perhaps it would be better to go to one of the sandier neighbour beaches. The Accomodation - Basic and clean but if you are looking for a true self catering holiday then you had best look elsewhere as the cooking facilities basically one very slow to heat up medium sied ring and one incredibly small good for nothing ring make the concept of cooking anything for a family an impracticality. The onsite pool is small and cold but this seems to be the standard for the area. The location is out of town up a very long hill and for anyone with problems walking you may be in for a problem or two (even from the entrance there are a number of steps to negotiate to get to your appratment and anyone with infirmaties in the heat my struggle. If you are hiring a car (as we where forced to do because of the hill) then the above is less of a concern. We were lead to beleive that the hosts Panos and Debbie were great people but to be honest like a previous reviewer we found them to be quite miserable unless you were willing to sit and eat and drink at their bar something we didnt want to do with just a week to play with to explore the island. Although nothing was said you had to walk past them every morning and evening coming to and from the hotel and it always felt like they were giving you the evil eye. Eating Out - Most of the restuarants are of a good standard depending on what you are looking for. Meals are around the same price as the uk with a starter and main course for three being around the 40 - 60 euro mark. Are favourites would robably be Janis (With a view of the beach), Little Italy (always crowded - a good sign) and the chinese in the middle of the town. General- We decided (out of nessecity) to hire a car but where only able to get one for 4 days (so if you are going it may be wise to book ahead). Do not book with the trave company as they are more than double the cost of the local agents. We tried basically all the agents and found the cheapest to be Cosmic on the main road in town to be the cheapest and friendliest at only 108 euro for 4 days. We hired a motorboat for the day from fillipos in the harbour - expensive when compared to car hire at approx 80 euro and then an additional 20 euro when you return for fuel. It was however well worth it and if you are going with a bigger party may be a cost effective day out. Being able to anchor of some small coves and beautiful beaches and bathing in the warm waters made it one of the highlights of the holiday. We didnt go on any of the agents excursions as we wanted to do our own thing but if you have to do the excursion thing book with the local agents - again like the car hire probably half the price. We did our own drive into Corfu town for the evening and thought it was a wonderful trip to take even if you arent interested in shopping. Took a trip up Mono Pankrator (hope that is how it is spelt) it is the highest mountain on corfu and in truth only accessable by car. It may take you a while to get to it and the drive is scary but well worth the effort with a fantastic view of the islands. Paleokastitsa - A beautiful trip by bus or car the view of the area from the golden fox restuarant is a must see however found the resort to be pretty much in the normal tourist mode albeit with nice beaches. Overall - Corfu and the people were excellent. Would i go back? To corfu yes without a doubt, to the Apollon unlikely but it may appeal to others. I think if i go again i will hire a private vila with pool. More expensive perhaps but with a lot more facilites. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apollon Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Olympic Direct) Olympic August 2004 Opinion submitted in Sept 2004 by : Steve Jones Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Poor My/Our Holiday Review: The setting and views from the Apollon apartments are truly stunning, however it is a good 1.5km walk to Kassiopi and is quite steep on the way back. The apartments are clean with a fridge and a plug in electric double ring for cooking. Quite unsatisfactory for eating in every night so you'll just have to go out and sample the restaurants in and around Kassiopi itself! Panos and Debbie are the hosts, the feeling here is quite oppressive since they are ever present and openly discussed other guests staying at the Apollon with us which is always going to be embarassing for the guests. If you drink in Panos's bar it makes him happy, if you don't he is unhappy - simple as that. Whilst we were staying five out of the nine apartments had expressed a degree of discomfort with their hosts. However, all agreed that having travelled around Kassiopi itself was one of the best places to stay in Corfu to chill out. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ariti 4 Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Cosmos Direct) Cosmos august 2006 Opinion submitted in September 2006 by : maidstone (43, 42, 14, 8) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Review: We stayed in Ariti block 4, apartment 2 and had an enirely different experience to a previous review. The apartment was extremely clean and was cleaned and the bins emptied every 2 or 3 days, bed linen was changed twice a week. The apartment was spacious with a large hall, we were not expecting a sitting room. The bathroom was large with an excellent shower, including curtain, and the kitchen had a proper cooker with oven and grill. Air conditioning was available at 30 euros per week. The shared front verandah might be a problem if you don't like your neighbours but we had another verandah at the back (from bedroom 2). The pool was clean and there were plenty of free sunbeds and umbrellas as well as natural shade from trees. Kassiopi is ideal for families and we hired a car for 10 days which was great fun. we explored the whole of the north of the island. Lots of great places to eat, especially on the mountain, and we also bought local ingredients and cooked at the apartment. The road outside could be a bit noisy, but you could ask for one of the apartments at the back, it is narrow and one-way so fairly safe for children to cross alone to get to the pool. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ariti 3 Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Cosmos Direct) Cosmos - July 2006 Opinion submitted in July 2006 by : Pat Booth - Cheshire ( 48, 50, 19, 19 ) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: We have just returned from Kassiopi Corfu. We stayed at the Ariti 3 apartments, and what a fabulous apartment we had. Two large twin bedrooms , a lovely modern bathrooom with bath and shower, and a brand new kitchen . The apartment has a large covered terrace and a garden with barbeque area. The owner lives upstairs and she is lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. The apartment can also be booked through Fulvia Travel and they can also arrange taxi transfers from the airport. There is a lovely pool , shared with the other Ariti apartments blocks , but there is only about 20 apartments in total so it was very quiet, and set in a nice garden with ample sunbeds. The people are very friendly and not pushy like some resorts. We chose these Apartments as they boasted Air Conditioning (a must with two small children) two bedrooms and a separate lounge with sofa bed The apartments are set on the main road into Kassiopi, within easy walking distance of the town but far enough not to hear noise from the bars at night. On arrival we were directed to the Ariti 4 block, which had lovely gardens. The Apartments were mostly clean but basic as expected. The very small bathroom had a bath and a shower attachment but no shower curtain so you had to pin yourself against the wall to avoid flooding the bathroom and the toilet was not very clean. The main balcony has table and chairs but is not private as it is shared with the other two bedroomed ground floor apartment. There is a locked interconnecting door to the other Apartment so you can hear everything next door. There was no Air Conditioning and the "separate lounge" consisted of the hall with two dining chairs and a small table in it!! We had to hire a fan from the Cosmos rep as the temperature was in the 30's. There were no tea towels provided. The towels were changed twice a week but the beds only once in two weeks(with no lounge area and having two children this was not often enough) the bins are only emptied three times a week (in the heat this is not very nice) A busy road separates the Ariti 3 and 4 Blocks of Apartments from the pool. The pool area is clean and the sun beds are free. Beware when booking the Ariti that the Ariti 1 and 2 are much better furnished than the Ariti 3 and 4 and that the Ariti 4 has no Air Conditioning. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bella Vista - Kassiopi Operator and Date: Manos-July,August 2007 Opinion submitted in August 2007 by : Elizabeth, David ,Dee -(44,45,3) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: We booked 3 bedroom Apartment 14 months ago after reading review of P fairlie and were not disappointed. What a fantastic apartment.Views of mountains, sea and pools were breathtaking. The balcony was so big we blocked one side off and our daughter was able to play and run around safely (full length of top floor). Apartment very clean.Towels changed 4 times in 2 weeks.Bathrooms and kitchen cleaned and bins emptied each day. Pools and areas were kept clean and tidy with Rob and Ben doing a great job, also serving good food and drinks. We were all made very welcome throughout our holiday . Stuart( Rep ) was often on site if you needed him. Location great 5 mins to main street.Good places to eat Don's Bar near apartment served great sirloin steak good portion 8 euros. Fab Sunday dinner. We also liked Little Italy and Boleros. Locals friendly. We went to playground each night next to Cosmic Travel and the children played with our daughter as if they were always friends, We liked the beach turn right past the harbour over a bit of a hill.A cove with about 16 sunbeds lovely clear water. As our daughter likes sandy beach we went on a boat trip from the harbour to Kalamaki 15 mins away .5 euros per adult Cosmic Travel.Sea warm clear and shallow about 12 inches deep for about half a mile. It was great for children we went twice. We also liked Agni,Agios Stephanos and Barbati beaches but you would need to hire a car or scooter. The mosquitos were a big problem. We are all covered in bites even though we used sprays and plugs.Plugs good through night. Finally we will be back to Bella Vista if we can book same apartment. This has been our best holiday ever. I booked a studio, as it was just me and a girly pal and when we arrived i discovered that i DID have a studio overlooking the pool WITH air-con (payable locally). I had been looking throught the manos brochure and it said that only the pool view apartments have air con, so i was keeping my fingers crossed. Well just so you know, if you ever book a studio apartment for this development, it will definately be pool view and air con, coz there are only 2 studios in the development and they are both in this block. There is also a 2 bed apartment above the 2 studios and a 3 bed apartment on the top floor, which are a bit more luxurious than all the rest and come at a premium, so in total just 4 apartments overlook the pool. The others are in another 3 separate blocks, which are a bit older and def don't have air con, or the same views. Seriously this studio i booked had a double bed, a single bed, a cot, a wardrobe, a table and chairs, bedside tables etc and still had massive amounts of room besides to walk about, plus a separate kitchen and bathroom which were in very good nick. The views from the apartment were amazing, looking straight down over the pool, through the mountains, with the most amazing sunset every night. They are literally about a 1-2 min walk to the village square, yet you can never hear any noise whatsoever from the bars etc. It feels like you are a million miles away when you are sitting round that pool with the lovely views. Rob and his partner who work behind the pool bar are lovely and very English. They made no hesitation at making me a very well done (burnt) bacon sandwich every morning from brekkie at my request. The greeks don't cook meat as thoroughly as i like normally, so it's great to have an english bloke behind the bar, that understands how things should be cooked! Anyway i went to kassiopi at beg of July and it was a bit quieter than i expected. What i mean by quieter, is that it was mainly families or couples young and old and me and my pal being 25years old, felt like we could have done with a few more singletons around. Not that im into raving it up, coz i certainly am not, hence why i booked kassiopi in the first place. I would say there is about 10 livelyish bars, a few quieter ones a couple of small clubs open til 6am and loads of restaurants to choose from. i frequented No 7 quite a lot, plus de-ja vue and passion club, which were all pretty lively towards the end of my holiday. Kassiopi's white pebble beaches are absolutley beautiful and i took around 150 photos just of the beaches, because everytime you walk towrds them, the view takes your breath away, so you keep taking photos of the same thing. The harbour is very well kept and tidy. In fact the whole village is very well looked after, even all of the restaurants and accomodation look like they have been quite recently built. Kassiopi is the only resort i have ever been to where there are about 30-40 different day/night trips to choose from. I recommend that you do a couple of trips (booked directly in a travel shop in the village, NOT your tour operator) to get you out of the resort a little, coz even though i think the resort is wonderful, i don't think there is enough to entertain you every single day for a week or 2, morning and evening. One other thing i would say, is that the food and drink in kassiopi is not the cheapest. I don't know whether this stands for the whole of corfu, but i found i had to draw out extra money at the end of my hols, coz i was getting a bit low, which has never happened on any of my hols before...i mormally bring money home! One thing lastly is DEFINATELY bring insect repellent. I brought with me, insect repellent aftersun, which i applied all over after a shower, PLUS a separate Jungle formula mossy spray, which i sprayed on all exposed areas when going out at night and stilll got bitten. I then bought 1 plug in for the room and still got bitten, then finally i bought a greek version of the spray (which apparently is the best one to buy, coz it is made in Greece and they should know how best to repel their kind of mosquito!! ) and also a ANOTHER plug in and had both of them plugged in continously for the rest of the hol and for the last night, i didn't get bitten!!! Hooray!! Finally to sum up, i would definately recommend Kassiopi to most age groups, great for couples, but not really for big group of friends looking to party hard and meet loads of similar people. I would definatley recommend these apartments, coz rob makes you fell so welcome and they are by far in the best location, with a great view. And lastly i would say in general that corfu is a very pretty island with lots to do, hence why i am going back at the end of septemeber this year to show my sister and my nephew how lovely it is!!! happy holidaying!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bella Vista - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Manos Direct) Manos - July 2005 Opinion submitted in July 2005 by : P Fairlie - Lincolnshire (45. 42, 16, 15, 13) Resort Rating: Good Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: We were fortunate enough to stay in the 3 bedroomed apartment at the Bella Vista (no. 11). A few minute walk from the main street, up a slight incline, and then a flight of steps - but well worth it!! The view from the (almost wrap around) balcony was stunning! The main door leads straight into a superbly equipped kitchen (full size oven & hob, microwave, very large fridge freezer, washing machine, iron & ironing board, a kettle, toaster and toasted sandwich maker to name the main points) The master bedroom and en-suite have to be seen to be believed (vast with PLENTY of wardrobe/cupboard space, and even a sunken bath). The other 2 twin bedded rooms were a decent size, also with plenty of storage space - all the bedrooms led out onto the balcony - nice for early morning coffee or late evening drinks! The additional shower room was small, but still sufficient (even for our 3 teenagers)! The pool / poolside bar was managed by Rob and Nicky - a lovely english couple who were happy to help in any way they could! Opening hours 9am-9pm, so no late night noise either (which can be a blessing). The apartment and pool area were clean and tidy - and kept that way by a friendly staff. Kassiopi itself is a nice place - plenty of shops and excellent tavernas (best ones were near the harbour). The apartment was the icing on the cake of a superb holiday. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dimas Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: Skytours - August 2007 Opinion submitted in August 2007 by : Gaynor, Kevin, Lewis (42,41,12) Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Below Average My/Our Holiday Review: Just returned from our holiday with mixed feelings. We loved Kassiopi as there is plenty to see and do. We were lucky to be there at the Festival of the Virgin Mary (15/8/07) when the whole village takes part in processions with a big party at the Harbour in the evening. However, we were disappointed with our accommodation. We kept
checking previous reviews which had all seemed positive, however, after
reading about D9 I checked with Thomson Holidays
Clean linen and beds changed around 3 times over 2wks. Bathroom tiny and the water from sink and shower kept coming up through floor drain - always had a wet floor - sometimes smelly too. With the kitchen I didnt feel I wanted to use cooker so always ate out. Floors very dirty at end of holiday as maids just seemed to pick up rubbish and leave towels. One day no bag in the toilet bin which for those familiar with Greece's toilet habits not pleasant. I took cheap nappy bags to keep things fresh. Had nice meals out at the Wave Bar,Kassiopi Star and Three Brothers.
Jsmine does lovely breakfasts. Boleros mixed meals there some very good
(curry) but didnt like the pork chops or gyros (kebabs). Nice bakery for
fresh rolls and cakes on main strip- Nicos Bakery. Took trips with
Cosmic much cheaper than Thomson Holidays
To sum up the view at Dimas fantastic. Christos is helpful and the daytime food we had was nice. However, would not return to the Dimas Appts. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dimas Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: Thomson Holidays

We went for two weeks and stayed in apartment D5. The apartment was very large, but had limited cupboards or storage space. It did however have a large veranda that overlooked the harbour. Our family aged 20 and 16 joined us for the second week of our holiday and were allocated the apartment next door D6. This apartment was tiny and there was no way both the doors leading to the small veranda could be opened fully because of the beds. There was no storage space here either. Two people could not pass in the room as it was so small. Both apartments were however cleaned regularly, with a good supply of clean linen and towels. There was continual hot water and a good shower. Both apartments could have done with some basic joinery work. Windows and doors were difficult to open. The family were very nice and helpful. Beware the pool bar was the dearest place in Kassiopi to buy a drink, although it did have a great view. Block A is at the bottom of the hill and lower level of this block lookes into a brick wall. Kassiopi is a nice resort. Plenty of resturants and bars, we never had a bad meal yet. Entertainment if you want, or quiet places to sit and take in the beautiful views. Would return to Kassiopi but feel these apartments are overpriced for what you get. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dimas Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: Thomson Holidays

Chris who runs the apartments is lovely and very helpful if there are any problems. The pool area must have one of the best views in Kassiopi and there is also a pool bar with a wide choice of refreshments. Kassiopi is a charming village with some excellent restaurants and bars. The bars around the harbour are lovely, our favourite being the Harbour bar and Deja vou which are a little quieter than those on the strip. Our favourite restaurant was Strofilia which we ate in several times the food and the service was excellent. Other restaurants we visited were little italy, janis, petrinos and kassiopi star and all were very good. We booked day trips with cosmic travel on the strip, which was a lot cheaper than the tour operator. The east coast cruise aboard the Erinoula was a wonderful day out and i would highly recomend it. Also took trips to Paleocastritsa, Sidari and Corfu town by night. To sum up Kassiopi i would say its a charming resort, authentic around the harbour and a little bit kiss me quick on the strip, but the best thing about kassiopi is the people, they are so friendly and welcoming they make your holiday. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dimas Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: Thomson Holidays

I read the reviews before booking this accommodation and I thought I had chosen well, but this was not the case although there was a nice view from the pool our studio was D8 we asked to be moved from D3 which was worse. The room was so small you could not walk between the beds my partner had to climb over my bed to get out of his. I could not unpack the cases as there was no room for the clothes. The swallows were in full flight when we were there and were building nests at the top of the stairs so consequently there was birds mess all over the walls and floors on the inside of the block also the balcony of our apartment was covered with birds mess which was never cleaned in the week we spent there. This is the worst accommodation I have ever spent time in and will definately not be returning. I think we were lucky not to have picked up something from the mess there. The towels were changed once in the week we were there which is definately not enough when the weather is hot and you have to take more than one shower a day. The floors were never cleaned and we were told by the rep that the sheets would be changed but this didn't happen either. Some parts of Corfu are very pretty and some very tacky it is a lovely island spoilt by lager louts and loud music. Usually we go island hopping and pick our own accommodation What do

The resort was OK although it was noisy until about 1.00 am when the music stopped. Three brothers was a nice restaurant and we found quite a few nice ones outside the village and in Corfu Town which we visited in the car most nights. You may think that the view compensates for cleanliness but I am afraid I did not find this the case and will not be returning to Corfu --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dimas Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: Skytours - June 2007 Opinion submitted in June 2007 by : Cliff Tinson - Sheffield (50,51,77) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Below Average My/Our Holiday Review: Well I hate to go against other reviews on here, but frankly our apartment was disappointing. We were in a 2 bed ground floor apartment in block D (D9). The rear was built into the hillside. There was mold all over the bathroom walls and tiles, and over the rear wall in the back bedroom. The place stank of damp. There weren't enough knives and forks for 3 people. We didn't dare touch the hob/oven it was so dirty, but then we were eating out anyway. Maybe it's a problem apartment and they've given up on it. Avoid D9. On the plus side, the pool is big with great views. It's a minutes walk to the harbour. The hill is very steep but it's only 2 minutes up to the pool at the highest point. Everybody was very friendly. Kassiopi has just the right mix of scenery, nightlife and laid back style during the day. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dimas Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: may 2007 Opinion submitted in August 2007 by : Mick and Elaine Thorpe (52 and 45) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: This was our second visit to the Dimas Apartments as we fell in love with them in May 2006. We were wondering if Christos would remeber is. We had a pleasent surprise when we went to the pool bar the first morning we were there and the welcome we got was brilliant. We had a studio apartment (d6) and the view from the balcony was brilliant, it overlooked the harbour and we became serious people watchers. The room was clean and tidy, we knew we were getting a studio apartment so were prepared for the size. We had clean towels every other day and our room was cleaned daily. We loved all the food at the poolside bar as it was all home cooked by Christo's mum. The pool was brilliant and the view was stunning. There is a bit of a hill to say the least to get to the pool and D block but the execise did us good. We could not fault anything about Kassiopi. We ate at Strofoli again and Gaynor one of the waitresses remebered us from last year, and considering the amount of people they see in a season it made us feel very welcome. We were a bit dissappointed with the quality of the food at the three brothers, maybe it was because it was the begining of the seaon -no to sure why. We made loads of friends at the Dimas Apartments, everyone was so friendly and as we were all there for the same thing - good food good weather and a great time we all got on really well. I think in the height of the season it could get a bit loud and busy, but right at the beginning of the season for us was the best time to go. Theere is a supermarket close by and enough (but not too many) bars/cafes/restaurants. The beach here is found by a pleasant walk uphill and is filled with beutifully smooth white pebbles. There are diving instructors on the beach but beware! They charged 45 Euros for each child and say theu will be in the water for an hour each - my friend's son got an hour and they tried to get away with letting my daughter have only fifteen minutes! I complained and said I wasn't going to pay them, so they agreed to give my daughter an hour free the following morning. The three beaches at the headland are not that sanding, but the water is clean. We ate at Three Brothers, Stofilia and Bolera all brilliant value for money. Try and by local drinks in the supermarkets, anything like Fruit Shoots and Lucozade Sport were dearer than a bottle of Amstel. There were no mossies in May, but we were told that they were coming. The fool at the poolside bar was cooked by Chris's mother and all had that home cooked taste. There were tears when we left and everyone was so friendly and it was very hard to leave. What a view from the balcony - well worth the struggle up the hill. May I say that this property is in no way suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. The studios were basic but spotless and the pool area was second to none. The poolside overlooked Kassiopi harbour a stone's throw away. The only bar in the accomodation was the pool bar which served a variety of snacks and had a well stocked bar. Christos and his mum who ran it worked their socks off and were genuinely very friendly people. As in most self catering accomodation there was no entertainment but that hardly mattered as everything we needed was to hand in the resort. Kassiopi had plenty of tavernas, music bars and restaurants to choose from where the main form of entertainment was Karaoke, quizes and sport on big screen T.V's. However if a more laid back evening was required there were more traditional chilled out bars. The harbour was picturesque and you could take your choice of boat trips day and night. One thing that was lacking was a sandy beach although there were a couple of small pebbly coves. I found that Kassiopi although popular with us Brits hasn't yet lost its Greek charm. Lets hope it stays that way. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dimas Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

I would recommend taking a trip on any of the boat tours as the scenery of the island is spectacular. The nightlife was good as it was mainly karaoke and quiz nights, none of that loud disco music blaring out at you. The restaurants were very reasonably priced and the food was good. Very friendly place felt very safe,as parents of young teens' quite happy to let them wander during the day and early evening.Late at night Kassiopi comes alive and it gets quite noisy going through to the early hours.Ear plugs were the answer and worked well! This was the only downside to being situated on the harbour front. Our particualr favourite was Portos on the harbour, but we didn't have a bad meal anywhere, all similarly priced and similar menus. La Luna the Italian restaurant was very good. Dimas Apartments- We stayed in B block which gave us a great view out over the harbour from our balcony. Two bedroomed apartment, very clean, kithchen adequately equipped for our needs.Maid came in daily kept the place spotless.Pool area second to none, exceptionally clean, situated in very pretty garden area and that view!! must be the best in Kassiopi. We were made very welcome by Chritos who runs the poolside bar and cafe, exteremly friendly and a mine of information, also makes a mean pina collada!.Food at the bar very good value all cooked by Chritos'mum. Highlights - Rented a motor boat from Phillipo on the harbour cost
120 euros for the day plus fuel, might seem expensive, but it is a much
better way of reaching some of the secluded bays than risking your neck
in a hire car,the roads are crazy. This was great fun, the boys
especially enjoyed it.Another fun day was spent on the barbecue boat,
booked via the Thomson Holidays
Lowlights - none really, quite a steep climb to the Dimas apartments, but this is more than compensated for by the quality of the accomodation and oh that view!the noise might be a problem for some people, we didn't hear any serious complaints and it didn't bother us (once the ear plugs had been purchased). The interior of the apartments was as expected, clean and well laid out. what a pleasant change having two separate bedrooms though! The pool area has to be seen to be believed, immaculately clean, and the view of the harbour is fabulous. Once you see that view you won't want to leave Kassiopi. The staff Christos especially couldn't have been more friendly. But oh that hill!!! There were a few stray cats, but with the help of our two girls, and just about every other guest, they were the fattest stray cats I have ever seen. cat food is sold at the supermarket. As some restuarants had already started to close for the season, this slightly limited our choice. After reading on here, and a very good site, www kassiopi info, we tried some of the restaurants recommended. One not worthy of the hype was the Janis in particular. Not only was it the most expensive restaurant (more than 15 euros more expensive), three things on the menu they had to come back and tell us they didn't have, then they forgot about our sweet order, and the food wasn't really all that good. Small italian restaurant we found called little italy is recommended, especially the pizza bread starter, and the spagetti amatriciana. It was always full, and with locals too, which is always a good sign. All the restaurants at the harbour were good too. I recommend the tour to corfu town by boat, takes about an hour and you have less chance of feeling sea sick than if you travel by bus! what a windy road it is! We were taken to the Dimas Apartments, which were situated on a hill off the harbour promenade. The hill was short, but I cannot deny it was steep and probably a problem for people with walking difficulties. We were shown our apartment and I couldn’t believe our luck. It was a large 2 bed roomed apartment with two balconies, one off the main bedroom and one which joined the 2nd bedroom and kitchen diner. The facilities held all you would need. As there was only two of us adults,we didn’t plan to eat in often, but I can remember holidays with my 3 children and could easily have self catered and cooked substantial meals as there was all you would need. We had lime trees draping over our balcony and from either one could watch the boats around the harbour. Breakfast with a sea view and fresh limes for my gin and tonics in the evenings - bliss. The pool for the Dimas Apts was built further up the hill and, having seen most of the other pools around Kassiopi (all of which are open to visitors) it was by far superior. As it had a high elevation, you could see wonderful views of the harbour and over to Albania from your sunbed. And the pool bar was excellent with Christos serving the best feta cheese salad I have tasted!!! Not being a teenager, I didn’t mind that the foam party disco was closed (we went 14/09/04) but all the restaurants and bars were still open and we used them all! We are still very young at heart. I cant pick a favourite, but the Kassiopi Star, Three Brothers, Oasis, etc etc were all great. I can’t say I had any complaints about any of them. We enjoyed every meal in ALL the restaurants. Janis is one to go to as it looks over the bay. As far as trips go, I would say “do not go to Corfu without seeing Paleokastristkas, the monastery and Bella Vista” We had a fab day out which also included visiting the local Kumquat liqueur factory mmmmm. I visited Sidari and Roda but personally, if you want burger, chips, Macdonalds and the “Red Lion Pub” go there, otherwise stay in the real Greece. Weatherwise, we found that going late, I.e. 14th to 28th Sept, we just edged onto the “wet “ season which seems to hit around late Sep early Oct, we found last 4 days wet. Apart from that it was gorgeous. Overall I would say that there was enough in the more active complexes I.e. Solaris, with pool tables etc (all of which could be visited by non-residents) to keep teenagers happy, and masses of bars and restaurants to cater to ALL ages. I would definitely recommend this resort. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elli Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

We arrived a few days before peak season,by the end of the holiday we were desparate for sleep! The Harbour bar is a magnet for the surrounding private Villas and the noise goes on till the early hours. I imagine any other time than peak season this would not be a problem
and as I said the view was wonderful, but on some days the noise from the
Bar, motor cycles, foam party and taxis went on till early hours
.Eventually Thomson Holidays
Kassiopi, nice resort, some excellent tavernas, Stroffillia being our favorite. Hire a boat( Phillipos) and chug down the coast to Nikolas Taverna in Agni, we are staying across the otherside of the island this year but will visit Nikolas at least once, its worth it! Costas Bar 10.00pm every night for the best ( and its free!) greek dancing youll see. Imorilia Taverna at the far end of the large bay is a very friendly place excellent mezes. If you like walking theirs a good stretching circular walk up in to the hills , go east of the "bus park" on the main road and head up into the hills keeping left at any junctions untill you find yourself on the edge of a valley, you will see a church across the valley. Carry on walking to the head of the valley and join the road running back across the valley towards the church,( look to your left to see an ostrich farm) just carry on the road and you will find yourself back down in kassiopi, good 2hr walk, take water and camera for the stunning views. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elli Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

(our original booking was for Dimas but after a long saga where Thomson Holidays
The Elli Apartments are set right on Kassiopi's harbour front and that wonderful sight greeted us each morning when we opened our shutters. There are two or three small buildings, each one a separate apartment, set in a garden tended each morning and evening by two friendly old ladies who also provide the maid service (greet with "Calmer" or "Kalispera" and you'll be guaranteed a smile!). We stayed in Elli 1 which had two bedrooms (one with a double bed and the other two singles), a kitchen with a fridge freezer, bathroom and a huge balcony, much more than enough room for the two of us and something that made us an object of envy to friends of ours staying in Solaris. Kassiopi was just as lovely as it was when we stayed six years previously and I strongly recommend to anyone going there to eat in Janis where the food, service and view of the sunset are wonderful (believe me folks you can't eat food of this quality at home so cheaply - 44 Euros for two courses, a litre of wine and a large bottle of water!) and Kassiopi Star. You must also go to Kosta's Bar at least once to see the waiters and the owner dancing every night from 10 o'clock, Kosta's party piece needs to be seen to be believed!). The only downside to the holiday was Thomson Holidays
We all followed a couple who stayed there last year and knew where
they were going but while everyone else found their accommodation
quickly, it turned out that we'd been dropped off about three quarters
of a mile from our apartment with no rep in sight and it was a week
before we managed to catch the resort rep in the Thomson Holidays
Still if you are staying in Elli you'll have wonderful views and an excellent service. Plane was quite nice, leather seats, reasonable leg room. I had ordered a veggie meal (not cos I am vegetarian but because this ensures your seat gets booked next to your partner and you don't have to worry about not sitting together! Little tip there!) Anyway, the veggie meal was not produced on either journey which didn't bother me but would obviously worry a true vegetarian. Usually they arrive with your name and seat number on a label. AIRPORT Corfu airport was small and very crowded but our cases didn't take long and we were soon out and on the coach. The coach trip to Kassioppi was about 1½ hours with stops to drop people off. HERCULES STUDIOS We were very pleased with the studio. They were run by Lorraine and Dimitri Tombros. Dimitri in particular was very helpful and friendly, and always greeted us "my friend!" We had a problem with the door lock and he was very quick to get someone to fix it and very apologetic. The studio had a lovely balcony which got the afternoon & evening sun. There was an oven and a grill which is unusual, the usual 2 rings and lots of pots and pans. There was a wooden bread bin and an electric kettle. Tea towel and sponge scourer was also supplied which is extremely unusual! The one drawback with having all that self catering equipment was that there was no food preparation area/work surface nor any food storage cupboard. The only cupboard was under the sink containing all the crockery and saucepans etc. There was a brand new fridge but it was under a shelf (with the kettle on it) right against the wall with the door opening outwards from the wall which was really awkward to get to under the shelf. This could have been easily solved by moving the door the other way round. If we had had a screwdriver we would have changed the door to the other side as it's a very simple procedure! There was a nice dressing table with drawers and mirror but unfortunately no electric socket for hairdryers, so the only place where you could dry your hair was using the socket in the bathroom! And what do they always tell you about hairdryers in the bathroom!? The oven plug came through a hole in the wall and was plugged into this socket also! The floor in the bathroom didn't drain very well either. There was a water heater that you turned on and off yourself which was pretty good. We did have one powercut while we were there which affected the whole of Corfu for a few hours. There was only one bedside table which is not unusual but also only one reading light by the bed. Maid service was 3 times a week and sheets/towels changed once a week. The Hercules is right next to The Sunny Pool, if you don't want to go on the beach, which had a children's pool also. RESORT Kassioppi is a really nice place. It is not too spread out and has a village atmosphere, with a square and a harbour forming the 2 main areas. It has a main square, a harbour, a rocky headland and several beaches on both sides of the harbour. Plenty of tavernas. You could easily eat somewhere different every day (and we did for most of the fortnight!) There were several supermarkets, the best being in the corner of the main square called SCONTO supermarket. It was cheaper than the others and nicer, and one day they even gave us a free pack of hard boiled eggs as they had just had their Easter! Kassioppi has a ruined fortress in the centre of it which you can walk round and get some lovely views of the surrounding beaches and sea and the Albanian coast opposite. I think Kassioppi has something for everyone. FESTIVAL We were in Kassioppi on 8 May for the festival. In 1530 a young man called Stephanos was accused of robbery and was condemned to be 'blinded', after his punishment his mother took him to Panayia Kassopitra where he stayed overnight and when he awoke the next morning his sight was fully restored. The miracle was attributed to the Holy Mother matron saint of Kassiopi and is celebrated ever since on 8th May. At 11.30am the church service ended and a procession came out into the harbour with lots of costumes and regalia. In the evening they had live music and dancing in the harbour area, which was cleared of cars and filled with chairs and tables. There was a barbeque etc and a few little stalls and things. Didn't see/hear any fireworks though? BEACHES From the harbour, facing the sea, walking right takes you to a few little beaches but we chose to walk left which brings you to lots of different beaches. You can walk right round the headland and pick which beach you fancy! The one we made our own two-person beach was found by following the path round the headland until the other end of the resort and long beach is in sight. As the road passes an outcrop into the sea, with a derelict cottage on it, and a posh villa on the inland side, there is a little stony & sandy beach with rocks on, just made for 2 people or a small family! Once installed you rarely get disturbed, apart from the village dog when he comes to say hello and have a few games! Walking from the other end, from Janis Restaurant, you walk along the back of the main beach, follow the road uphill, past terraced rocks with sunbeds on, and before the road leaves the waters edge, there is the little beach. It was excellent for crab and fish spotting and one day we even saw an octopus which was a first for me and an amazing sight! TAVERNAS We had fabulous food everywhere we ate in Kassioppi. Every taverna we tried we said "oooh! We'll have to come back here". But we actually only returned to one, and that was several times after we found it towards the end of our second week! That was STROFILIA (on the road down to the square from the main road). We had seen it recommended in several reviews but only actually tried it on the Friday when we were coming home on the Monday. We then went to it Saturday and Sunday!!!!! I can recommend the meze starters, they did 3 different platters, all delicious! Everything we had there was really lovely and the setting was gorgeous, with trees overhanging and whitewashed walls, staff were really friendly and it all added up to my favourite restaurant! My partner wishes me to mention that the KASSIOPPI STAR in the harbour was his favourite, but as I say, they were all great and all deserved a return visit but we only had 2 weeks!!!! We found meals to be much more expensive in Corfu and assumes this was because it is the original Greek island holiday destination. We were having 2 starters, 2 main courses, a Greek salad and a 1 litre carafe of house wine each night and this was costing between 28 euros and 37 euros. The same time last year in Lesvos we would be paying 10 - 15 euros less than that. Our lunch in Parga was 34 euros which we felt was cheaper as we both had fresh fish with starters and several beers & soft drinks. Our most expensive meal was the day we had the car and drove to St George South where we stayed a few years ago. We had lunch in our favourite restaurant there "KAFIOS" and spent 48 euros. We ordered red mullet, which came on its own, 4 on a plate each and cost £10 each plate!!!! Anyway, let me recommend the eating places in Kassioppi:- STROFILIA - my favourite by far! KASSIOPPI STAR - close second PETRINOS FAMILY KAKKIS (back road leading down towards Janis) cheapest meal in Kassioppi. JANIS - highly recommended in all reviews. We went on opening night of 2005 season. Nice place, nice staff, nice food but over-rated and overpriced! We came away still hungry! Very unusual! Met some annual regulars in there who raved about the place. THREE BROTHERS - - in the harbour area. Try the Bianco fish stew! UNCLE SIMOS - great view of the festival in the harbour on 8 May! You must try the courgette fritters! PORTO - in the harbour area. You must try the Bianca fish stew! LITTLE ITALY - Extensive Italian menu, well worth a second and third visit but we just didn't have enough time! TO KYMA - on the far left of the harbour towards the beaches. Nice restaurant, quite new inside. Excellently presented food - Greek meets nouvelle cuisine! And not any more expensive. Great views over harbour too! The gyros place very near the harbour (next to Three Brothers taverna) is great for take-away gyros on the beach or eat in snacks. Really friendly guy will teach you some Greek while you wait! Delicious gyros in pitta! EXCURSIONS We used Fulvia Travel at the end of the path to Hercules Studios. We changed all our travellers cheques here, everywhere seemed to give the same rate and Matoula was always very pleasant and helpful. We hired a car from here and booked a boat trip to Parga (mainland Greece) and Paxos. The car was 35 euros for one day. The boat trip was all day and was 25 euros each. The coach picked us up in Kassioppi at 08.30 and took us to Corfu town where the boat then took us to Parga. It was several hours to get there and we only had 1 hr 45 mins to spend there which was just about long enough for lunch. We have booked a fortnight in Parga next year as friends have been and recommended it and we liked what we saw on the boat trip! It was then a few more hours to Paxos where we had a couple of hours to walk round, and then a few more hours to get back to Corfu town and then coach back to Kassioppi. It was a long and tiring day, especially for children, although there was a special play area for the children below deck on the boat which was good. It was worth the trip to see Parga and enticed us to book there next year. CORFU ISLAND This is my third trip to Corfu so we didn't do much sightseeing outside of the resort. The day we had the car we drove to LIDL's in Corfu town to stock up on water, fruit juices etc (all a third or less of the price of resort) and to St George South, but it rained in the afternoon unfortunately. We had 2 or 3 days where it was rainy and overcast out of the 2 weeks. The nights were chilly and we had 2 blankets on the bed most of the time. But when the sun was out it was BOILING! CORFU AIRPORT We were picked up very early and therefore arrived very early for our flight home and were dropped off in total chaos. The Olympic rep directed us to a queue and then disappeared. The people in the queue were for all airports and no one seemed to know what we were supposed to be doing or which queue to join. People getting off busses further up were just joining the queue further up! It was a total shambles! I felt sorry for the people who had to wait on the grass in front of the airport in the hot midday sun! There was no sign of an Olympic rep but other reps were helping people and going in the airport to find out the right check in desk for other passengers. We noticed the reps are a lot "older" these days and therefore seemed more helpful and in control. The initial queue is for the luggage x-ray, and once through that you join the queue for your check-in desk. After queuing outside the airport for 2½ hours we finally checked in! Then we discovered the plane was delayed a couple of hours. Finally aboard the plane the cabin staff were telling everyone to "Sit wherever you like". I think they were doing it for speed but of course this was a disaster. Some people particularly wanted to sit where they had been booked in. Other people had specially booked and paid for their seats only to find someone else sitting there. Some people in a large group had booked in seats together only to find 2 seats already taken! One couple & young child had booked and paid for the front seats but they were not allowed to sit there which caused a rumpus. Finally everyone was seated when the cabin staff then advised that the Captain had said everyone in rows 1 - 10 had to move to the back of the plane! Well, after all the initial problems this was just what everyone wanted (not!) and the poor couple & child who had paid to book the front seat were also included in the second upheaval! The Captain said it was to do with the weight on take-off! Well, not being comfortable with flying anyway, this was not what I wanted to hear and I was picturing all kinds of airborne disasters! But finally we took off an the flight was fine! Still no veggie meal appeared though. Shame it was raining when we got back to Stansted! I would recommend Kassioppi. It's a lovely resort with everything you need really. Suitable for all ages and families. There are several lively bars but you don't have to go there if you don't want to. There are plenty of secluded places to visit, and as I keep saying, LOADS of fantastic tavernas. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hercules Studios - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Olympic Direct) Olympic - OCTOBER 2004 Opinion submitted in Oct 2004 by : Mike - Tania (40, 40) Resort Rating: Excellent Accommodation Rating: Average My/Our Holiday Review: The pool is not part of the Hercules studio. It belongs to a separate company, The Sunny Bar. You cannot use the pool or bar after 6.30pm (earlier if no-one there, she shuts) - so nowhere to socialise with your neighbours. 2 Euros for a sunbed - if you buy a drink then you can use the sunbeds for free!!! Kassiopi is a lovely place. Great for all ages. Hercules Studios - a basic 2* studio. dated and tired - kept reasonably well painted. A strange place with no defined entrance - you go through the sunbed balcony of the Sunny bar, probably because the pool was built after. We were in room 5, a 4 bed studio. Very small inside. Kitchen - nowhere to store any food - 1 cupboard with plates etc in. Fridge was knackered, 4 pine chairs and a table, one unit with built in sink, drainer, 2 electric rings, a drawer and mini-oven. Bathroom - not even enough room to swing a stray cat, as usual in greece no shower curtain or clip to hold shower head whilst showering. The furniture in the bedrooms was pine, nice and modern, one bedside cabinet, 2 single beds, a dressing table (no power point nearby) a chair and a wardrobe. Balcony 1 table and 4 chairs (white plastic) Sheets and towels - changed ONCE A WEEK, they dry their laundry in the courtyard - I resorted to going and getting clean towels from there after a few days. 16 studios in a u shape style. ASK FOR A TOP FLOOR. Rooms on the lower floors have no view at all - either back of supermarket or the rock wall. Rooms 5 & 8(4 bed) and 6 & 7(2 bed) are best. Hire a car - forget the rest - go to Yiannis - from the square go along the level road past the Co-op until you meet the main coast road. We had a new fiat Punto, 5 door - air con, elec windlows, unlimited mileage, and paid 200 euros for 7 days. While you have a car - a must is a visit to the Panorama Taverna on the road to Porta, from the main road at Kalami (below Kassiopi) go up to Vigla and then to Porta. Family run taverna with a varied menu and GREAT views over the east of the island. If in Ipsos and want more views go off main road north of Ipsos, at sharp right bend go left towards Ag Markos. You travel about 2 miles and in a little village you will see a Panorama bar sign outside a small door. Do not be deceived - this ia a great place, with a large balcony for spectacular views over Ipsos and the forest behind. If you are not the driver - try MOON JUICE (a local wine). Good stuff. Restaurants - 4 to recommend in the village. STROFILIOS, up the road from the square on the left. EXCELLENT FOOD & SERVICE!! The best food, we visited it several times. You will not be disapointed. The Kassiopi Star, on the harbourfront. Great Food, service and portions. The grill room, past the co-op on the same side, slightly lower than the road. The best place if you want meat cooked on olive wood in the traditional way. And last but not least the Shangri-la for a great curry, up the hill on the right, past the medical centre. A good curry and CHEAP BEER!!! Amstel beer prices ranged from 2 euros in the curry house to 3 euros 50 cents. 2 euros 50 was average. The Giros bar on the bend in the road just before the harbour. Great snacks. The Co-op supermarket, don't bother. Go to the supermarket on the square, it is cheaper, cleaner, the staff are helpful and friendly, an Amstel beer 500ml was 58 cents. Want to go scuba diving - got to be Corfu divers, near to the harbour. KASSIOPI - a classic fishing village massively expanded by tourism, but because of its valley location it still seems to manage to retain a great deal of character by concentrating every day life into a small nunber of little roads that culminate in a pretty square in the centre. One of these roads leads down into a beautifully paved and lantern lit little harbour with all the charm expected of a traditional greek resort. A lovely beach on the road out of the village past the co-op. OVERALL - THERE ARE LOTS OF CHEAP APARTMENTS AVAILABLE IN KASSIOPI - GO AND STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE - DO NOT STAY IN HERCULES STUDIOS. We paid £199 each for 2 weeks in a 4 bed studio 20 sept to 4 oct 2004. We took 100's of photos of the WHOLE island (drove 630 Km in 6 days) and will be putting them on my website. Unfortunately if you stay there as we did, it takes an hour to walk into Kassiopi so you need a rental car or take a taxi (?8 each way) if you do want to go into Kassiopi in the evening for dinner or a drink. The taverna food is excellent, but it is rather quiet most nights (except Wed, music night) There are no good beaches in Kassiopi itself, so even if you stay in Kassiopi, you may find yourself at Kalamaki anyhow! Kassiopi is not terribly "Greek" due to the influence of UK package tourists but is more tasteful than eg Sidari. so long as you don't expect anything like the smaller Greek Islands that is fine. We were disappointed by several of the restaurants mentioned positively by others on this site - maybe they were looking for something different to us - we want Greek places - often the tavernas served "Euro - food" - some even had HP sauce on the tables! The only place we got grilled Octopus was "Little Italy" - typical that in a Greek village the best place to get a traditional Greek dish is an Italian restaurant (very good restaurant indeed, despite it being Italian). Kassiopi Star deserves a mention, because several others have posted good reviews, but we found the food very greasy (both grilled fish & meat the night we went), over-priced and generally not up to standard. We found Kostas bar good fun - go to the little grill/take-away just downhill from there on the opposite side of the road after the Greek dancing and have a very cheap late supper of Souvalaki Kalamaki and chips (despite the appearance of this place it is really good food) Unless you are under 21 DO NOT go to Kavos. Only go to Sidari to benefit from the beach. The place is now tacky & like Blackpool (sorry Blackpool) Go to the North Westerly point of the Island 10 minutes past Sidari by car to have a drink or dinner whilst watching the sun go down - you will not regret it --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kalamionas Apartments - Kassiopi Operator and Date: Corfu Kassiopi Travel Service - August 2005 Opinion submitted in Sept 2005 by : Cathy Gilmour (53,51) - Ayr Scotland Resort Rating: Good Accommodation Rating: Excellent My/Our Holiday Review: Kalamionas Apartments is a fantastic property right on the Kalamionas Beach (Main Beach Of Kassiopi, Blue Flag), in the heart of this charming village. The picturesque harbour is only 5 minutes walk away, there are also numerous shops, bars and restaurants close by - try Janis and 3 Brothers. This accommodation offers everything a family wants. Provides excellent service and facilities. Cleaned every day with towel and bedding changes every 2nd day. The self catering apartments and studios are designed and equipped to ensure you can relax and enjoy your holiday. Full cooking facilities, fridge, plenty of utensils. No air conditioning or fans, however, close the external shutter doors and leave the internal ones open and fall asleep listening to the sea. During August when it is really warm there is a welcome sea breeze most of the time. Kassiopi Travel Services organises many boat trips and excursions at a great deal cheaper price than any tour operator. The people are so nice and friendly. This is a relaxing holiday and not for those looking for great entertainment at night. The only real complaints about the resort is the time it takes you to get there from Corfu Airport and the condition of the roads. The toilets are terrible and you rarely see one that is spotlessly clean. However, a great relaxing holiday particularly after leaving the accommodation allocated to us by the British Tour Operator. Go it alone it is well worth it at 280 euros for the week per studio apartment. corfukassiopitravel com for details. & excelairways co uk for flights. need of refurbishment and are very 1960's. Our room (109) had a serious
plumbing problem which took 8 days to get sorted out despite repeated
requests to the hotel and the Thomson Holidays
For trips out and exchanging money and for general help and information COSMIC, with Vera, Joanne being extremely good and even with their commision rate excellent. They have a book swap and a corner to come in and borrow/take stuff that you may have left behind. You know the stuff you buy/take that you no longer need but don't want to take home. Really useful. There are numerous boat trips, horse riding to be enjoyed, but our favourite was hiring a motorboat from Fillipos in the harbour. We visited many little beaches and anchored off various areas whilst hubby fished and I sunbathed or swum/ snorkelled around the boat. The prices not too bad but probably cost a lot more at the height of the season. The fuel costs extra and can vary between 20-40 euros depending on how far you go and how much you actually use the boat. Our first time out we used it loads and went too far and just had enough to get back. Weather was excellent very warm and sunny. BIG PROBLEM IS MOSQUITOS!!!make sure you take plenty of insect repellent as they attack you as soon as you hit the resort. We used spray lotion and a plug in insect repellent and also the spiral burners available locally and escaped with very few bites. We saw some people who looked like pepperoni pizzas from their bites. Wasps are also a problem, but not suprising with all the goodies around. Beer costs between 2.5- 4 euros for a lge Amstel. Most of the beaches are pebbly and wearing swim shoes is essential. There are sandy beaches in KALAMAKI nearby. There is a lot of noise from traffic, due to the use of mopeds, mokes etc hired by the tourists and buzzing around the village, which is rather annoying when you just want a quiet drink/meal. Not a bad holiday and we would certainly return to Kassiopi but staying in a different appartment area. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kassimi Hotel - Kassiopi Operator and Date: (Thomson Holidays

The breakfast was basic (toast jam cheese fruit juice and tea or coffee)but was enough to see you through an hour or two handy if you were going on a trip.Kassiopi is a lovely place with lots of little beaches around and about, the harbour has some nice bars and restaraunts, you can olso go on boat trips from here(Corfu town was well worth going to)Further up into the town there are plenty of gift shops and more bars and eateries to cater for most tastes.A local bus goes from the square.there were two cash points in the resort one at the harbour and one at the square.
